I was torn on how many stars to post. I LOVE Popeye's spicy chicken and no one makes a better red beans and rice. The problem, I think, is corporate management....all the way to the top. Consistently Popeye's stores are full of rude and unhappy employees. This cannot be a coincidence. And they pretty consistently give you the wrong order. You order red beans and rice and you get french fries. You order spicy and you get plain. Sometimes you get lucky and order three strips and you get 5 or 6. We all know in Shawnee that when you go through the drive-through, you should check your order before you drive off because it will inevitably be wrong. I personally think Chik-Fil-A chicken is nasty and I don't want to lose our Popeyes, but it's going to happen if things don't change.

There are many Popeyes establishments where a friendly and efficient staff serve a very tasty product proudly. Unfortunately Popeyes in Shawnee fails in both product quality and service. I have been a fan of Popeyes and before that Copelands (you old timers may remember) for many years, but in numerous trips to the Shawnee restaurant have been consistently disappointed. Most frequently they are out of product, or what they do have is far over the corporate dictated hold time. The staff has virtually no consideration for the customer....you know those of us that keep them employed. On my last visit two employees were loudly discussing how much they disliked the manager, and the last minute schedule changes. This protracted discussion took place while I was the second person in line....all the while the lady patiently waiting ahead of me had not been greeted or allowed to give her order. Chick-fil-A has recently opened right next door. Unless an aggressive management team brings this store up to Popeyes standards, I fear there will be a vacant building on North Kickapoo.....of course that would mean more parking for Starbucks and Chick-fil-A......and that would be good.

Very cold inside an the chicken wasn't cooked all the way an the coleslaw was nasty ! It was my first time there an my last !

The spicy chicken is good but honestly, the staff is crap. We have been there several times and the staff is always unhappy and look miserable. They always are out of something or another and it takes 20 minutes to get your food. The tables in the place are rarely ever clean, always have some trash that customers left behind.

Horribly bad chicken strips. Looked and tasted like they were from the night before I had the 5 piece fingers my wife had the 3. Out of 8 strips not one was good and they had only been open 30 minutes. We called and the manager said we could come back and get the same orders then or the next day. Didn't return to even try it again.

Love the spicy chicken and the red beans and rice. Just wish the people were friendly. Seems like every time I go they're rude or just unfriendly.

Stopped in here multiple times, the 2 times I walked in the order was off have to come back to the counter and get it corrected. The other time through the drive-through gave me a welcome speech then asked me to hold on for a minute, waited about 2 to 3 minutes and then I left and went to Taco Bell. The other time I stopped in through the drive-through. They wanted to just give me dark meat, it when I asked for a mixed it look like it was a big hassle. Guess maybe I need to start going to KFC?
