As we were driving through Shawnee, my parents, sister, and I happened upon this place. As it was 5:30 on a Sunday afternoon, we noticed a full parking lot and decided that it'd be worth a shot. Upon entering, we were seated immediately and given chips, queso, and salsa. Their salsa was fantastic, although it could be deemed bland by some...my sister and I thought it was perfect! Our food came quickly and did not disappoint!!! My mom vaguely mentioned wanting a sopapilla but decided not to get one since no one else at the table wanted one. Lo and behold, our waiter brought her one! Exceptional service and great food :)

The place not to eat when your in the mood for Mexican food. I will give it two stars. One for the wait staff and one for the speed of the cooks. The food was extremely bland. My rice was dry, bland, and clumped up in little balls. The red beans were not what you would call refried beans. More like they had a big pot of pinto scooped them into a skillet and reheated. My tamale was so bland that the only way you could tell the difference of the corn outside from the meat inside was looking at it. Everything tasted the same. The sopaipilla was dry and fkaky. I don't know what was up with the honey. There was a tacotico a block south. I think we should have eaten there.

This is my favorite Mexican place in Shawnee. Great food, lots of choices and the staff is friendly. Plus it's pretty quick.

Very bland for Mexican food. Waitstaff was rude. Ordered beef and cheese enchiladas with beans and rice. The beans and rice hardly had any flavor and the enchiladas were dripping with grease but seriously lacked in flavor. The cheese sauce they serve with the chips was not cheesy at all but it was extremely salty.

My family just came from my grandmothers(abuelita's) funeral with a party of 29. We were welcomed right away with a large table set up in the back~ waters, chips, tortillas, salsas were ready to go. We never had to ask for more chips. Never had to ask for more water. Never had to ask for a thing. Ordered our food & promptly got it all on the able at once. That is highly impressive. Homemade tortillas, homemade salsa from what I can tell, a lot was homemade which I can't get enough of. I love mi abuelita's cooking. I miss it. We had such a wonderful experience there. We were Highly blessed by their hard working employees. Such a weight lifted off our shoulders when needing to please 29 mourning people. They even gave us complimentary sopapillas!! Thank you guys so much. It meant more than you know.

Seated quickly. Chips cheese and salsa delicious and on the house and well as tortillas and free desert after your meal. Food is delicious and fast, not a normal combination. Service staff is excellent, fast and friendly.

Friendly greeting and very prompt with service. The food was great. Salsa and queso is complimentary. We came on a late evening and the restaurant was tidy and clean.

The colon cleanse was excellently prepared and mysteriously disguised as Mexican food. Tread with caution. As quoted by Boy George: "do you really want to hurt me? Do you really want to make me cry?"

Excellent! We were seated right away. Service was excellent. Never had to ask for anything.

After reading the positive reviews on here, we decided to eat here on our way through Shawnee. We were very pleased! The service was fantastic (it was about 5:15pm and we were literally the only people here when we first arrived) and the food was fresh and tasty. It wasn't phenomenal or anything, but we would definitely eat here again. The salsa and quest setup was very good and my wife said the quesadillas she ordered were among the best she'd had in a great while. I had the Mexican dinner special and It featured one beef tamale, one cheese enchilada and one cheese enchilada along with rice and beans and In all honesty, it was very good. The pricing was more than fair ($26 for my wife and I including a decent tip). Overall, I was pleased with the food and service and would recommend it to anyone craving a good Mexican joint in Shawnee.

Have been going here for years. My favorite mexican restaurant in Shawnee. I usually get chili relano (cheese), rice, and steamed beans. They have great relish and special hot salsa.

I have been going to this establishment for ten years now. This is by far the best Mexican dining in Shawnee. I am one of those people who have one menu item that I get every time I go to a place; however, there are seven menu items I rotate here.

Although this is "Abulelitas II" in Shawnee it is Numero Uno with us. The food is always fresh, well prepared and hot. The depth of the menu is quite a bit more that one would expect, covering Chicken, Beef, Cheese, Seafood and the "Americano" dishes for the kids. The one thing that truly sets this restaurant apart is the fantastic service that each guest receives. Try it once and you will be back! Yes, it is Tex-Mex and excellent, but would love to find an authentic "interior of Mexico establishment" . . . maybe next time!

We picked this restaurant based upon the fact that the previous reviews were ALL five star reviews and the thought was to check this place out. After having been brought salsa, chips, cheese sauce, relish, and green salsa, the wait staff waited patiently while my wife and I perused the menu carefully for the perfect meal that would satisfy us. We ordered, the meal was brought in a timely manner and was extremely good. Everything that we were served - from the salsa all the way to the complementary sopapillas - was of the best quality and priced excellently. So excellently, in fact, that I questioned the amount and proclaimed that I would've gladly paid twice the price showing on the register. If, in the future, I am traveling through Shawnee again, I will endeavor to make the time to stop and eat here again. It is most definitely worth the time to stop!!

Our family eats here often. Great enchilada's and I would say that this is as good as tex-mex gets. Kids love the free cheese dip with the chips. Service is second to none.

Friendly and fast service at a great price. I had the enchilada lunch. It was good but not great tasting. The corn tortilla had a weird taste or was void of flavor. No complaints really but my expectations were high.

Very fast service! The staff is always friendly. The hamburger isn't spicy in the food so kids won't be shocked. Unlimited cheese, salsa and chips.

Great food! However, I was surprised they do not serve margaritas. The tamales are wonderful as well as the enchiladas. I enjoyed the cheese sauce they brought with the salsa and chips. Everything was very reasonably priced. Service was quick and polite.
