We like the newer location, just tried it last night. The food seems about the same as it was at the previous location but the atmosphere was better. I ordered the chili verde enchiladas and they were really good not as spicy as the authentic New Mexico verde but still good. My husband ordered the taco dinner and enjoyed it. Decent food and average prices.

The atmosphere is awful. I can't even describe why, just cheap feeling, uncomfortable chairs, loud, cramped. But the food was very good. I had the chicken and steak combo chimichangas. Very yummy. The salsa and chips were great. The white cheese sauce was fine, nothing to write home about. I would go back if I was in town again.

When it opened, nothing in Tulsa compared. Now it's just really good! Still love compadres, wish it was as good as in the early days!

They recently moved locations and it seems like a pretty good move. I like the space so much better. The menu has your basic tex-mex options (yes, believe it or not, this is not authentic Mexican food) including chalupas, enchiladas, fajitas, chimichangas, etc. Their fish tacos are good as well as their fried avocados and mango chicken and shrimp. For dessert, you cant go wrong with their churros. They also do catering and deliver.

Overall not impressed. Tamales tasted like the canned Hormel version (definitely not hand made). Enchiladas were the same; they had the taste of frozen dinner food. My wife had a string in here food. They took it back and brought her new food fast and removed it from the bill. She did like the Fiesta Wrap once it came back. Reasonable priced and kids menu was only $4. Pay for what you get. Staff was friendly and good service.

Staff is ok but the owner is a total jerk. My wife and her friend ate here and got sick. Spoke to the owner about it and he didn't even care. I explained to them this that we were regular customers and he said prove it. Bad business practices not how you should treat a customer. I can not Recommend this place due to the fact we got sick and that the owner treated us poorly

All due respect to the other reviewers of this place, but they must not know anywhere else in town to get Mexican food. Owasso is overrun with Mexican places, and based on my dining at all of them, this is the bottom of the barrel. Beans are so bland they're literally grey. Rice is dry and tasteless. Our party of 6 each had something different, and no one was satisfied. I ordered Enchiladas Verde, which I have found to be a decent litmus test of a Mexican restaurant's capability. I was sadly and overwhelmingly disappointed. The pork was underseasoned to the point of being just pork, and it was dry... which is a cardinal sin for pork verde. My wife's fajitas were sub-par, and my daughter's tacos were about the same. She's a taco demon, and she barely touched them. I've eaten there three times in about 8 years, and every time I go back, I remember why I didn't go back. Try El Fogon, El Tequila, or even the franchise Monterey's before you waste your money here.

Very inconsistant service & food. I've eaten there when the food was really good. The last time it was horrible. I will NOT go back.

I love this place! They have great service! I've used them to cater events and the prices were very reasonable and the food was awesome! I eat there, often, with friends and the experience is always consistent. The bartenders are very friendly and are never too busy to make you feel like your're welcome there! Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name. Compadres in Owasso is the place!

This is usually our go-to Mexican restaurant whenever I visit my family in Owasso. The only reason I am giving it 3 stars today is because of the decent prices, okay food, margaritas and great salsa. Also, it was a saving grace when that snow storm hit a couple years ago. This place was within walking distance and we needed to cure our boredom with margaritas. Now on to the bad... Mind you, this was around 4 o'clock in the afternoon on a weekday and the place was definitely not packed. No guest wants to be lead through a restaurant full of dirty tables, stacked with old food and buzzing flies. We were there for approximately 45 minutes and watched as several servers and a manager walked by multiple times without even acknowledging the tables. The tables were still dirty by the time we left. I don't want sound self-entitled, but I have never had to ask for chips and salsa in any Mexican restaurant. Isn't it like their "thing" to bring it out automatically as soon as our bottoms hit the chairs? It's the best part of the dining experience and it really sucked to have to wait 10 minutes before having to ask the hostess for them (did not see our server until the food arrived). Our food took a little longer than usual, but that is definitely not the worst part. Not even close. We over heard a table near us complain to their server about flies in the corner of the room. The next thing we know, the boy is swinging at the flies with a flyswatter. I could not believe what I was seeing... really?! Yes, flies are annoying when you're trying to eat, but I really, really, truly do not need to see a fly massacre as I'm trying to keep my appetite!! Maybe the table asked him to do something about the flies, but that is absolutely not the way to do it. And I did not see those tables with the flies get wiped down. Needless to say, as soon as our delayed food arrived we asked for boxes and the check. As mentioned above, the tables were still very much dirty as we were walking out. Three servers and the manager were all standing at the host stand having a lovely chat. Ugh. So here is a thought, Owasso Compadre's... maybe, just maybe, clean tables = less flies? Maybe have a little look through the corporate handbook with your employees and learn about turning tables. I don't know. Just do something.

I like Compadres. I've lived in Owasso most of my life and tried all the other Mexican places (like the one across the street). Compadres just seems to have the best food--best chips and tasty salsa, best spices in their food. You may have a little wait here, but its definitely worth it.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
