Okay it's no 5 star restaurant but the food was cooked well and tasted great. The skillet proved to be more food in one sitting than I imagined. Country-fried with eggs over easy, tasted just like moms food. I love local shops and this place has been around forever. Staff was great and service was fast. Would surely come again.

I stopped in this morning while wandering around Norman. The "Breakfast served all day" sign caught my eye, as well as the "Cash only" sign on the door. Any place that takes cash only and is still in business is always a place I need to check out, because it must be good. Did not disappoint! Loved the eggs, Hashbrowns, and bacon I got. Classic food for a classic diner.

Overall, They have your typical diner food. I ordered a la carte pancakes, biscuits and gravy, hashbrowns and eggs. The hashbrowns were good but could have been better with additions. The gravy was not impressive and a bit bland. The pancakes were ok but I've had better. I think overall it was decent, but could be better. If I come again I would order something with toppings to add flavor because otherwise things were a bit bland. It was cheap though and ok enough to come back and try something else....with toppings. Do not order the orange juice. Tropicana is way better. Also if you order coffee by default you get dry creamer and need to ask for regular creamer if you want it. Service was awesome and this is one reason why I'd come again to retry this place. I ordered a mess of stuff a la carte and the waitress put it together to give a combo deal. Cash only!!! This is very inconvenient!

Hassler's has been on Porter for many years. It has a loyal following and serves the traditional diner favorites for breakfast and lunch. You get a good amount of food for not much money. It's a classic, no frills diner. The problem is the food isn't seasoned well. I got the chicken fried steak lunch, which comes with 2 sides and a roll. First of all, they heat the rolls up in a microwave. This is something I do at home, but I don't expect at a restaurant, even one as cheap and simple as Hassler's. The steak was large, but it was deep fried. It became crispy, but the batter wasn't seasoned. Or, if it was seasoned, it wasn't seasoned well. So, it tasted like a deep fried piece of meat and flour, nothing else. The mashed potatoes were thick, but again, lacked seasoning. The gravy was creamy and great consistency. It needed pepper, but it was probably the best part of the meal. I had okra for my other side, it's also deep fried, but the breading wasn't overly thick, and was seasoned better than the steak breading. The okra and gravy are what saves Hassler's from a 1 star review. I've not been to Hassler's for breakfast, and I will note it's popular for breakfast. So, I might give it a shot. But, probably not.

Just plain ol good food. The cook got the orders perfectly. Spot on. This is old school home cooking done well and priced fair. Recommended.
