Go here if you're hungry and only have 10 bucks in your pocket. Don't go here if you're looking for an authentic Mexican dining experience. I went because of the contradictions in the other Yelp reviews. A few said "authentic Mexican food" while others praised the fajitas. Fajitas are Tex-Mex, not a traditional Mexican dish. I got a lot of average Tex-mex food for my money. If the chips and salsa are made in the kitchen, the cook should commended for his/her ability to duplicate that mass produced flavor and texture. I learned that in Muskogee, as in Texas, if the sign says "authentic Mexican food" they probably serve Tex Mex. If you want traditional Mexican food find a taqueria.

Great food for great price. My parents came down to visit for my husbands birthday 2/21 and the food was excellent although our waitress was pretty forgetful. (side note: I think it was her first job, she was pretty nervous as well.) However, our bill was about $53 for four people. Four entrees, chips and salsa/queso, two margaritas, one soft drink, and dessert. Upside, you get quite a bit of food for your money.

Very good mexican food!... The servers were super motivated to serve us and the food was as authentic as it gets. The margaritas were stout but mixed well. Would definitely eat here again!

I live in Muskogee and eat here at least twice a week. The food is great and extremely cheap especially for the quality of service and food you get. I would recommend the #1 carne guisada (flour tortillas) , or the beef/spinach enchiladas. If your in Muskogee and looking for great Mexican food you definitely need to stop and try Chavas.

I only gave this a 3 star because of the decour. from the outside looks like a local dive inside is dated but ok, The food is thee best Tex--Mex we have eaten in muskogee and the service is very good. Would have given a higher marks with good outside decor and a little fresh paint inside..230 dollars for 2 people and thatt includes 2 margaritas. Will go back

Great food and even better waiters. Come a couple of times and they'll know your name. Your typical Mexican restaurant with better than most fajitas and much better service than most.

This place deserves 4 stars for the beans alone. I had enchiladas that were good, but those beans - you can bet that if I am in Muskogee at mealtime, I will suggest this place. FYI - this is the only place i. Town open after 8pm on Sunday. FFYI - no margaritas or strong beer on Sunday - cuz gettin drunk quickly on Sunday is a sin. If you have to drink twice as much, I guess God is cool with it.

The service was fast and friendly, the food disappointing. I ordered the "homemade" chile relleno but it didn't taste homemade to me. Salsa was like ketchup with chopped onion. Margarita was huge but seemed watered down and made from a powdered mix. Beans were too salty and rice was bland. There was nothing spicy about this meal. The food was below average even by Oklahoma Mexican food standards.

Stopped here on our way home to Texas. Absolutely amazing! Some of the best Mexican I have ever had. Even the tap water was good.

Good food, good service. It's much better than the El Charo's in town. Take the family there to eat on occasion, and we all enjoy it. I would say for authentic Mexican food this is THE place to eat in Muskogee. Do not waste your money at El Charo, El Chico or Hamlin's El Toro (that's just bull). If you want REAL Mexican food, this is the place to go.

What an unexpected little gem off Route 69. Although somewhat uninviting from the outside, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the food was fantastic and service was equally as good. With a wide variety of authentic Mexican dishes you won't be disappointed.

Eh, was okay. Good service, the guy was super nice and was busy but stayed on top of things. We left full, but my overall view was that everything was salty. We were driving through and needed to eat, it fit the bill.

Was not impressed. Must have been an off day for us. My husband got the mexican skillet #38. It arrived plentiful, but cold. I got the Hawaiian fajitas and they were okay. Waitress seemed rushed and stressed. And our table still had food on it from the last guests - the table cloth print was so busy she couldn't even see it. Our drinks also ran dry. Won't be back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
