This was exactly what we needed exactly when we needed to find what we needed. My mother and I spent our morning at the Museum of Osteology, and needed to put some meat on our bones. (Sorry, could not resist!) we asked the staff for a recommendation and they sent us to Pickles. I never would have discovered this restaurant otherwise. Pickles is a nostalgic throwback to the 80's. Dark wood paneling and potted plants abound, and the menu stops just short of including tuna salad on a bed of lettuce. Too bad, too, because the moment my mother stepped through the door she began to crave tuna salad. I bet it was good when (not if!) they had it on the menu. My mother ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich with the bread on the side, as she steers clear of carbs. Her meat was tender and slathered in a mildly spicy sauce, all under a layer of cheese. Just right. I ordered the catfish, which was expertly fried in a cornmeal batter. It arrived with fries, coleslaw, AND hush puppies. A huge amount of food that I could have shared. The coating came off cleanly, leaving me with tender flakes of fish, so I ate that along with the very tasty hush puppies. The highlight of the meal was the fried dill pickle spears. Again, the cornmeal batter was just right, and the frying time was perfect. They arrived at our table hot and tart. It is important to have your signature dish be a stand out, and Pickles has had time to perfect this dish.

Only came by once to fill coffee. Hash browns were cold. Limited breakfast selection. Charged extra for onions. Not much much to say about this place.

I'm giving a lower rating because of service. We just felt unwanted with the confused look when we walked in, with giving us our check when we just started eating..not asking if we needed anything more or dessert, and taking our plates away before we got out of the table. *shrugs* It was just odd... Anyways, I am glad I tried their fried pickles wedges. It is better than most places that have fried pickle slices. The hushpuppies that came with my catfish meal were delicious! It was moist and sweet. It had corn kernels in it.

After seeing this restaurant on the frontage/service road every day on my way to the client site, I eventually broke down and went in. Once you enter, you are taken way back in time. Like, wood paneling on all the walls and ceilings, and candle burning lanterns on the walls. Ooooh... But from the name of the restaurant, the pickles were tried. Fried pickles wedges. I have to admit, they were awesome. For my lunch option, I had a deluxe cheese burger. It was huge, greasy, and cheesy. Not sure if I would order that one again. If I decided to return, I would get the fried pickles again.

Traveling through OK for vacation, we want to try "state" cuisine, preferably not from a chain restaurant. We found Pickles almost by accident, and decided to try it. The fried pickles as an appetizer we decent, and we really enjoyed the chicken fried steak and smothered chicken. The servings are ginormous, big enough we should have ordered only one and split it. We would come back if our itenerary allowed it.

A great place if you don't know what you feel like eating. They have a large assortment of food, and most of it is really good. For breakfast, the onion hash egg thing is my favorite. Their sausage patties are very unique and are probably the best breakfast sausage patties I've ever eaten. Their pancakes aren't anything special, but they do the job. For other meals, their pasta isn't bad. It's definitely not microwaved like Olive Garden, but it definitely doesn't have as much flavor either. I personally just get fish and chips, if not breakfast. Only complaint would be the new staff. They are always hiring new people and all of the new people are a hit or miss. If they would keep the good people, that would be great.

4.5 star food, 1 star service Our food was delicious! It was fresh, hot, and definitely tasted homemade. We had a server who looked to be in her mid 50s to early 60s. She was very slow, inattentive, and only came back once we had finished our meal. I'm a former server, so I like to give the benefit of the doubt, but they weren't busy at all so it just aggravated me.

Mediocre food, mediocre staff, sticky tables. Better than fast food, sorta. Totally forgettable, not crowded yet noisy. Why did we come here? A known hell is safer than an unknown hell.
