We walked in on Valentine's day with no reservation, 4 adults one small child and were treated very well. All of the food we orderded was excellent. Chicken Parmesan, spagetthi and meatballs and the shrimp and clams pasta dishes were excellent. The warm soft rolls brought to our table with our drinks were delicious and unexpected as was the delicious array of desserts offered for free b/c of V-day. We were truly happy to have such a nice meal with our soldier who had just completed his Basic Training at Fort Sill. A BIG thank you from this Iowa family!

My family loves Luigi's. I first went there for a Farewell for a co-worker and really enjoyed the experience. Since then just about every farewell my department has is there. The food is great. I've never been to Italy myself, but this seems to be the closest I've had to authentic Italian. Even closer than what I've had in New York. The bread the give you before your meal is addictive. And you have to be careful not to fill up on it before your meal arrives. The service is great. They are flexible and accommodate any changes you may have to your order. The manager makes sure to visit every table to ask about your experience. Once while dining with a large group my order was switched with another person's at my table. Though I still enjoyed their meal, we were both compensated by receiving our meal for free. This also seems to be a place is favored by Lawton Police. I've never been in without seeing a few in there. I like Olive Garden, but this is a way better Italian Meal.

This is definitely the best Italian food in Lawton! The bread is great and the salad is always fresh, not like the old looking lettuce you get in other restaurants around here. The Fettuccine Alfredo is very good. However, the Pasta Sampler is hard to differentiate what is what. Overall great food in a great atmosphere.

I had high expectations of this restaurant after friends had raved and raved about it. Sadly, I was not overly impressed. Was it gross? No. Was it delicious? No. I found the price to be pretty fair for the portion of food you get but the food was not flavorful like I was expecting from a non franchise supposedly authentic Italian restaurant. Go here for the pizza but not for the other main dishes!

My favorite Italian. Every time I go we are treated well and food is excellent. Super Bowl Sunday this year and no one is in the restaurant. Son's birthday and he gave him free cheesecake.

Why do people think this place is good. I'm guessing because they have never been anywhere nice. The food is alright but the service is crap to be truthful why do pick up orders have to wait 20 more mins for the laziest hostess I've ever seen to go get the cold food out the back. Yea fuck this place fuck them up there stupid ass.

This is a great place to eat. The food is amazing. Try some alapana sauce with your bred.

This has to be one of our favorite restaurants. They use REAL food. Awesome cheeses, sauces made in house and great pasta. And the cheesecake is like a slice of heaven! It's so light and flavorful. Definitely a place to make a trip for.

Not the best Italian food I've had but by far the best in Lawton. They have great pizza with real ingredients. There pasta dishes have very generous portions. I have never left hungry from this place. There rolls are amazing and come with all dinners.

Absolutely delicious! Rolls are garlicky, service was excellent. Wife had the baked ziti (was a little cold in the middle, but they stuck it back in the oven, so I have no issues with that). I had the veal parmigiana with Alfredo. I don't think I will ever be able to do veal parmesan in red sauce again, it was THAT delicious. If you go to Olive Garden over this place, you're missing out on something amazing. For those with high-chair kids, most of the clips on the high chairs are broken or cracked, just so you're aware. Enjoy the great food!

  • JennifeR P.

We went and enjoyed our dinner. We had the baked ziti. Like one of the reviews I read, it was a bit chilly in the middle. No big deal. The sauce is to die for. It has to be home made. It actually tastes like tomatoes. They had these little garlic bread knots that were super addicting. Service was good. Prices were good. I would go back all the time if I lived in Lawton.

Ate there last night for my birthday and absolutely loved it, the bread they bring out is amazing, it's still warm and everything. The food is delicious and the foods portions are huge! You totally get your money's worth here and it's way better than any other Italian restaurants around. The staff are nice and friendly and overall we had an excellent experience, I would totally recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for amazing Italian food, I will definitely be eating here again and again!

We had a seating of 15 people today to visit my little sister as she graduated from boot camp. Of course after not having normal choices of foods for a few weeks she was craving Italian. I cannot even begin to describe how fantastic this food was. I ordered the sampler platter because I am indecisive and when I go to new places I like to take in as much as possible. To start you receive delicious freshly baked rolls that melt in your mouth. The service was quick even with the order for 15 people! The owner was present and there to check on everyone and to check us out. He was a very proud man as he should have been. This food was excellent and I seriously advise people to try it out. You get tons of food at an incredible price! The owner even comped our beers and wines just because he enjoyed having his guests present. Please try it out.

This is a great stop for a reliably delicious meal. We started with the alla pana (marinara & Alfredo) sauce to dip our garlic knots in, highly recommended! They give you a huge bowl of the sauce, take it home and pour it over tomorrow's pasta, so good! We had just a regular 1/2 cheese and 1/2 pepperoni pie and loved it. The slices are large and filling New York style so we were full after just a slice each (and plenty of those garlic knots!) so we had lots to take home. Wine is priced very reasonably. Seating is comfortable and I liked the dim lighting (we were there at night). The service was really terrific: attentive, friendly, and professional without being overbearing. This will be a regular date night spot for us, it hits all the right notes for us! They close at 10pm on weekends, my only wish is they stayed open a little later.

Dinner date with my wife! The service was great and the food was delicious! I believe the owner was the person to greet us as the door. He was extremely personable and came to our table to make sure everything was to our liking! Thank you for the great dining experience. I look forward to eating here again.

My friend and I came here for lunch and the staff was very friendly. They did not have is waiting long before re hit bread and drinks were in the table. Our waitress was friendly and didn't waste any time taking our order. Our food came out fresh and hot. Mine was a little bland but I added some salt, pepper, and a little Parmesan cheese it was good to go.

The best Italian food I've ever had. The spaghetti with meat sauce is a mountain of spaghetti you could split with a friend. Order the Alfredo sauce to dip your bread in, which could get 5 stars by itself. Believe me, you should take a carb day.

  • Sherry B.

We went for lunch today and the food was fantastic! My husband and I shared spaghetti with meat sauce and we had plenty!! The crusty garlic rolls are very good. I'm not a fan of the house salad dressing but they quickly brought me out another type of dressing. Our waitress was very nice and the owner is very pleasant. Definitely a place to return to. We have never been disappointed.

I was in Lawton for business recently & took some clients out to lunch. Based on their recommendation we ended up at Luigi's. As soon as I walked in the door we were greeted by someone who seemed to be of Italian descent which is a good sign if you want authentic food. There was a large group of us & we were seated quickly at a table. Our server was friendly & got us menus & drinks quickly. I ordered the Chicken Marsala, which is what I order most of the time when going to any Italian restaurant. It's interesting to see how restaurants prepare it differently. Our server brought us baskets of some amazing bread with garlic & butter. Our food was served within 20 minutes. Keep in mind that the portions here are gigantic! One of my coworkers ordered the Stromboli which I kid you not, was the size of his head! My Chicken Marsala covered an entire very large plate. My chicken marsala had a couple of large chicken breasts cooked perfectly. It came with marsala sauce over a huge bed of spaghetti noodles. I know it doesn't affect the taste, but I really do prefer linguine rather than spaghetti noodles. This definitely was not the best chicken marsala that I've ever had. It didn't pack the flavor punch that I'm used to, but it was still a good meal. Overall, the food was delicious and the portions were more than ample. Prices seemed very fair. One thing that I didn't get about this place was the random beer signs scattered around the walls. Luigi's was decorated in art from New York & Italy, nice table clothes and music to set the tone, but these cheesy beer signs just spoiled the decor. Not a big deal, but probably something they should think about. I would definitely recommend Luigi's if you're in Lawton & hungry for some great Italian food.

Not bad. Average. The staff is good. Tables and booths. Better prices than Olive Garden.

I went here twice, the first was for the entrees, the second was a pizza. Both times I was bitterly disappointed. There is just something off about the food, it is not tasty or Italian at all. The chicken Alfredo sauce was from a store bought jar, and only heated up. Not made from scratch. The chicken was rubbery and not grilled properly. The pizza was bland and had a very weird metallic taste to it. I also had cheese sticks with the pizza, and they were the store bought kind and barely microwaved warm. I gave it two shots based on the reviews here, and was disappointed both times. Will not be coming again.

  • Crystal D.

The food was completely fantastic. I honestly can't even describe it. The portions were huge, and they come with bread and a salad with your choice of dressing. And the boss is a super nice guy! I would definitely recommend it to everyone I know!

One if the best Italian restaurants I've been to out here! The owner owns luigis express and luigis restaurant as well. And he is from Kosovo so he knows Italian. The restaurant is small but charming. You get a vibe of Italy when you are in there. They have beer and wine only with a great wine selection. The menu is awesome and full of authentic dishes. Not the made up stuff Olive Garden has. You pick your entree, they bring you out these delish garlic Parmesan knotted rolls which, oh my gosh, I could eat all day! Each entree also comes with a salad. I recommend the house dressing... It's a tomato based dressing that I discovered by accident. Most house dressings are Italian, but they brought this out instead and it was soooo good! Dishes are made right there and if your dish requires any baking, expect to wait 20-25 minutes, which I don't mind at all! The dishes come out cheesy and bubbly hot! The amount of food is pure Italiano sized! It's more then enough for me to eat for dinner! And boy it's affordable! They also offer a 25% off military discount!!! Awesome right! Food, salads, rolls, and drinks for a family of 3 costs less then $25!! I can do that!!! There cannolis are awesome and use a family recipe for the filling!!! You can't go wrong with this place! You have to give it a try!

Selected this place based upon google reviews; however, I was disappointed. The bread was good and so was the service for the most part. The food, unfortunately, was just okay. Nothing to rave about at all.

  • Asheia W.

The food here was okay, but I was completely dissatisfied with the service. We stood and waited to be seated at the hostess stand while workers in the restaurant just stared at us. Eventually the hostess came out of the bathroom and helped us. Our waiter was excellent, but after we ate the hostess came and stole part of our waiters tip! I returned to the table and caught her. She lied about it of course. I couldn't report it to the manager because he'd just shorted my change at the register and tried to act as if he didn't know what I was referring to! Ruined a perfectly good experience. Not planning to eat here again.

If you're in Lawton and need food, there are basically two places where you can find authentic, delicious fare outside the chain gang. This is one of them. The rolls to start the meal are scrumptious, with plenty of butter, garlic, and Parmesan. Yum! The house dressing, I'll warn you, is much closer to a marinara than anything. Great for dipping bread into, but maybe a little weird on lettuce. Everything else I've had here has been phenomenal. The small pizza is actually a medium, so that's cool. All the pasta dishes are baked in a smaller dish, smothered in cheese. The people who own this establishment are very sweet, and they've put a lot of hard work into this space since it opened. Definitely worth your time to try!

  • Frank M.

I can't believe this place is in business. The crust was yeasty, bland and bready, definitely not crispy and chewy like Chicago or New York thin. The pizza was also undercooked, and the toppings tasted packaged, not fresh at all. If I went back, I'd try anything else, but when you're a pizza place, and can't get pizza right, what's the point??? CHEERS!!!

My favorite Italian place in town. Their garlic bread comes with every meal, and it is truly delicious. I usually get their crab stuffed mushrooms and dip my bread into the creamy sauce (which is to die for). I have eaten here many times and my favorite dishes are their lobster ravioli, fettuccini alfredo, and the pasta sampler. The pasta sampler includes spinach ravioli, lasagna, and manicotti topped with marinara and mozzarella. I am also a big fan of their pizza and calzones. This place is delicious and always in the conversation when we decide to eat out!

Decent food here at Luigi's I have been eating there since they opened. They have a pretty good menu selection and the food is always hot and tasty. The bread that is brought to the table before the meal is absolutely awesome! I'll go here over Olive garden any day.

Well, I gotta say, not my favorite place in the world. I only had the Italian Chicken Salad, and house bread, but I was not impressed. What kind of Italian Restaurant doesn't serve wine..you guessed it..Luigi's. The salad portion was quite large, but the house dressing tasted like a spicy tomato sauce. THe bread was nice and hot, but lacked salt...so i just added some parmesan cheese.

A friend tipped me off to Luigi's as the best Italian place in the area. I have to say I agree. The owner is incredibly nice and friendly. They definitely take care of their regulars. The portions were outstanding- try the stromboli or calzones. They also have this spicy sausage appetizer that had some of the best sauce I've ever had- (dead serious). Their desserts hold up too! Good cannoli. The owner is incredibly homophobic and let's you know about it. Completely off-putting.

This is the best Italian resturaunt in Lawton that I have eaten at. The quality of the food is always good, the wait staff are always friendly and usually speedy. Overall appearance and cleanlynes of the restaurant is good, but it does have a dated look and feel. Of all the foods I have eaten there, I would say the chicken in the "Chicken Alfrado" needs some work, it is dry and tough, but not so bad you can't enjoy the meal. The price for amount and quality of food you get there is very good, the best deal in town.

Skeptical because of the reviews, but craving pizza, I decided to order. I wasn't disappointed. The large NY style meat lover was great. Fresh ingredients, great dough and cooked just right. The garlic bread was a big hit. I ordered takeout.

Truly a Mom and Pop Italian Restaurant. Fresh homemade bread while you wait for your entree. I ordered the spaghetti with meatballs and it was a lot of food. Coworkers ordered the lobster ravioli and another ordered the spinach ravioli. Everyone enjoyed! This is a an easy four stars. Move comfortable seating instead of a lumpy booth would have made it a five.

I went to Luigi's in Lawton, OK on a Sunday for dinner Food I ordered the Diavolo Shrimp appetizer, a tossed salad and the Chicken Piccata. The Diavolo Shrimp appetizer is five cooked medium large shrimp in a warm spicy marinara sauce served on a big platter. It was very tasty but I think what would make it better is if it were served in a small bowl with the tails sticking out, like a shrimp cocktail. The tossed salad was a tossed salad with lettuce, tomato and your choice of dressing. The Chicken Piccata is a chicken breast cooked with a lemon, garlic and caper sauce, served with spaghetti. That was also very tasty, but I found that after eating all the spaghetti, there were lots and lots of capers left. Their garlic bread comes with every entree. The bread is really round flat rolls with garlic on top. They pull apart very easily and very useful for mopping up Diavolo or Picatta sauce. Their menu includes a big variety of the Italian American favorites, as well as sandwiches and pizza. They also have cheesecake and tiramisu, if you have any room for dessert. There is a children's menu. Entrees range from 7 to 12 dollars. Environment The restaurant has a sign on the building but no signage that faces the street so you might drive past it. There is ample parking. Dress is casual, but they have the requisite "No shirt. No shoes. No service." sign on the outside just in case you are too casual. There were several families eating there, some with little children. There are booths and tables, with checkered table clothes. The hostess will give me my silverware wrapped up in a paper napkin when I was seated. The interior is a little dark. Italian music plays in the background but not so loud that you can't talk. Bar This establishment does not serve alcohol. Service The hostess, waitresses and bus boy were all very friendly with me and the other patrons. I was seated quickly and my waitress stopped by almost immediately to take my drink order, iced tea. Service was very quick and the dishes were delivered at the appropriate time. Overall Recommendation This is a great place for groups, families and friends that like Italian food and lots of it.

Whenever I'm in Lawton alone I always stop here for pizza. They sell it by the slice, and it's so handy to go through their drive through. The prices are affordable. I'm very picky about my pizza, and this is great pizza. It sort of tastes like Sbbaro, reminds me a lof of the pizza in Europe, which is hard to find around here. My friend raves about the gyros but I've not tried those. Try it!!

Italian food is my least favorite of all meals. All I really like is pizza and spaghetti. However I am still giving them a 4 star because everything seems to taste awesome even if I am not a huge fan of different pastas. Their bread is the BEST ever. Great place to take the family as the price is very reasonable. Would choose this over Olive Garden any day.

It's good for Lawton, I suppose. Love love love the bread they serve before the meal. Sometimes it's so hot that my fingers send little messages to my brain that the bread is not yet safe to touch (but my brain and empty stomach tell me fresh hot bread is NOT something one waits for). As for the food, it's all right. Tried the baked pastas (too cheesy for my taste) and the chicken Marsala (tasted tomato-y). But the bread!! Yum.

My husband and I were really disappointed with this place, particularly because we had heard good things and liked Luigi's express. First off, any place claiming to be an authentic Italian restaurant needs a good wine list and this place doesn't even have a liquor license. The service was pretty bad as well. Our server couldn't answer basic questions like whether or not the fish was fresh or frozen and when we asked her about what she liked, she couldn't give us a straight answer. In most Italian restaurants I've been to, the olive oil is a given and already on the table. Here it's three bucks to order as if it were an appetizer. Once we got our food we felt really rushed. We had barely started our appetizer when the entrees came out and were being put down on the table. We asked our server not once, but twice, to wait until we had finished to bring out more food. After we started eating, the pasta tasted like the kind I buy at the store and the chicken tasted like it had freezer burn. It was definitely not the relaxing, slow Italian dining experience we had come to expect.

Saw something that looked really good that the table next to us had I asked the server what that was she said its the restaurant specialty I said let me get it and she said its the specialty and the manager only makes it for certain people so apparently so I have to settle for something else which has already left a bad taste in my mouth....

Luigi's was voted the best Italian food in Lawton. After eating some of their food, I think that speaks poorly about Lawton Italian food. I ate the chicken marsala. The chicken was fairly bland and the pasta was pretty greasy. Italian food is usually not my first choice for any meal, but this place seems to accentuate what I don't like about italian food. The garlic bread was really good though. Next time I'll try a pizza and maybe I'll like that better.

We called in for a pick up, when I arrived to pick up our carry out I did have to wait about five minutes before our food was brought out. I had the cheese manicotti. It was two pasta shells stuffed with creamy italian cheese (maybe ricotta, I'm not certain), smothered with marinara, and topped with a lot of melted italian cheese. There was no salad that came with the meal because "it was a carry out" and it came with dinner rolls instead...? The only thing that tasted authentic to me was the cheese, although the cheese topping was a bit salty for my taste, the marinara balanced it out. When I make sauce at home for our food, I usually open a jar of Ragu and a can of Hunt's traditional sauce, mixing them together and this is what Luigi's marinara tasted like to me. It was good, not the best I've had. Someone mentioned Giuseppe's in Marlow, and I believe Giuseppe's used to be better. I haven't eaten there since 2009, and I also think Napoli's in Duncan is much better, both being more authentic. My husband disagrees with me though. Luigi's is better than Olive Garden and a lot cheaper, but no salad with carry out like the other Italian eateries. If someone is looking for a really good authentic italian place to eat, it could very well be worth the drive to Duncan or Marlow and eating at Guiseppe's or Napoli's. I definitely prefer either of those over Luigi's or Olive Garden. My husband ordered Chicken Parmesan and Fettucini Alfredo. He received two dishes, the chicken parmesan with spaghetti and marinara. He really liked it and said it was like home cooked chicken parmesan, not pressed and pounded chicken as Olive Garden does theirs. In the other dish, the fettucini alfredo, was his fettuccini pasta and sauce with pieces of cut chicken. He didn't care for it really, so I tasted it. It had no flavor really, except it did taste a little like cooked noodles without anything added. A noodle straight out of the pot. It lacked parmesan cheese big time. We would eat here again, it is certainly better than Olive Garden, but if we have the time and gas to spare we will be making an hour trip to Duncan to eat at Napoli's Italian restaurant.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
