I grew up eating Daylight Donuts but I don't care for this particular Daylight Donuts store. I am a big fan of the Donut Palace down the street from this store but one morning they were sold out and closing early so my girlfriend and I decided to give Daylight a try. First of all, there is no drive-thru so we had to go inside. The inside of the store looks like it hasn't been touched in anyway since the 1950s (I am talking decorations and cleaning). It is very run down and the whole interior is stained either by grease or cigarette smoke (or both). It's all yellowing and dingy looking. The woman at the counter seemed to struggle immensely with the most basic of requests. I asked for a glazed Donut and it took her a literal 30 seconds of processing to decide if this was a request she could fulfill. My girlfriend asked for a cake Donut at which point I think a fuse in the woman's head blew because she froze for a solid three minutes staring at the rack to decide if this were possible. Even when I offered my assistance and pointed at the Donut we would like, she grabbed two different Donuts that were nowhere near where I was pointing. If you have seen the movie Almost Heroes, our experience ordering Donuts was very similar to the scene where Chris Farley is being taught the alphabet. Once we finally were given the correct order, she counted back an incorrect amount of change. She was not very personable, welcoming or even hygienic for that matter. Surprise, surprise but once we got home to eat our Donuts, they were 'okay' at best and not at all worth the time, money, or hassle to procure them. Just drive an extra block to the Donut Palace. Their Donuts are amazing and it's run by the happiest and most welcoming couple ever.
