When I first walked in, I noticed a podium, but no signs about seating. After a good 10 seconds of standing there awkwardly, I decided to walk to the left where there was a bar/counter with bar stools. I still wasn't greeted, so I reached for a take-out menu. I immediately decided on the sante fe sandwich, which came with fries. The waitress was friendly enough and asked me if I was ready to order, I said yes and proceeded to do so and asked for a water. While I was waiting, I never did receive my water and noticed that every person that came in after me was immediately greeted and seated. I guess they assumed I was to-go, because that's how my meal and drink came. As for the food, it was also so-so. The meat was rather large for my bun, but seasoned perfectly. The seasoned fries were just bland and cooked weird. They looked normal, but I didn't eat more than 10. The biscuits that came with my meal were pretty yummy; I ate them first thing (not sure how they would be cold).

We have visited the Delta Cafe on many occasions in the past and enjoyed delicious meals. But our experience tonight tells me that something has gone to hell in a handbasket. We were sorely disappointed. The fried catfish that was formerly light and flaky was awful both in texture and taste. it looked right on the outside but was mushy and tasteless inside. The chicken and dumplings were gross looking and appeared to have been held over several nights in a row in a desperate attempt to not throw it out. The "dumplings" were little more than thin, little discs of dough-like substance. The broth color was a putrid gray. Our server was so-so, but the kitchen took FOREVER to produce our four meals. The place was only half full, so it's not like they were overwhelmed with orders. We had a drink go empty before it was refilled. My wife and I both had the fried catfish, and our stomachs have been churning all evening since supper. It's a sad decline of a once great eating place. We will not be returning. We would have been better off setting $50 on fire and eating sandwiches at home. Don't waste your hard earned cash here. There are plenty of good places to eat elsewhere in Edmond.

I do not understand what happened to this formerly good restaurant. The service is slow and food is now of questionable quality. The bread service is still great but after that be prepared for a long wait. When the food does come it may be cold or of disappointing quality. Too bad for this was a good place 2 years ago.

Basic Southern Comfort food, but not over the top Delicious. I had the chicken and dumplings and it was only okay.

My uncle wanted us to try this place because we were talking about fried corn on the cob. I wasn't thrilled with the corn, but the food was good. I probably didn't order the smartest thing -- chicken parmesan, but that was my bad. The chicken was fine, but the red sauce was really just "out of the can". We had an enjoyable meal and I appreciate all the selections they offer for sides plus the ability to order a large meal or small meal.

I am surprised this restaurant didn't get more five star reviews. Maybe they don't know it like I do. I live in Edmond and have been there many times. They used to be called the "Black Eyed Pea". Their food is just good ol southern comfort food. One of the favorites is the cheese and broccoli soup and the chicken and dumplings. They have jalapeno cornbread that I always take a few home. Their rolls are good too. They are also good at special orders. I get the marinated black eyed pea salad and they will make it for me with no lettuce. Everything is homemade. If you call an order in and then call them when you get there, they will bring it out to you. I guess I have had just about everything on the menu at one time or another. I like to take my family there. Large portions at a very reasonable price. Don't forget to get a homemade dessert too. Their banana pudding, cobbler or strawberry shortcake is to die for. I have never had a problem with service. You may have to wait a minute when you get there but so what. There are times when I have had to wait a lot longer than that to get in a restaurant.

I was pleasantly surprised with The Delta Cafe. I ventured in solo on Thursday afternoon around 3. The restaurant wasn't empty but it wasn't crowded either. The home-style cookin' menu was perfect for my odd food appetite. I was hungry, but nothing sounded good, until I saw they had grilled cheese. I don't know what it is about a grilled cheese sandwich, it's just comfort food - to me. It was pretty good. The bread was grilled with the perfect crunch and the american cheese was ooey gooey yumminess. The best part? I got free dessert cause I was it was my first visit to Delta Cafe. I chose banana pudding, again comfort food. It was SO yummy. The service was great. Super friendly and efficient wait staff, and the manager came by my table twice to make sure I enjoyed my meal.

The southwest chicken was awesome! I was blown away by the flavor but skip the fried corn that was gross! Side salad was fresh and crutons had good flavor.

Not a bad place to eat. Chicken fry steak was good. Mini strawberry shortcake was awesome. Overall all a solid 3 close to 4

I went to the Delta Cafe one time for ice cream. They were busy with a birthday party. I waited over fifteen minutes for someone to take my order. The soda jerk kept ignoring me. I walked out. I will not be back!
