Blue Moon is great for a quick lunch. They have many specials that include an egg roll, egg drop soup and entree. Service is fast and the portions are large. The food can be hit or miss.

When I lived in Edmond I would come here specifically for the egg rolls. I would mix some soy sauce with the orange sauce that they have at the table and dip the egg rolls in it. It has been many years since I have moved but I still deem this place as my favorite Chinese restaurant. I love that the chicken is white meat and the breading is nice and crisp. My favorite being the Hawaiian chicken having those little pineapples on top just make the meal. Their crab Rangoon is also something special. The taste and the texture of these is a real treat. I moved away to San Diego and have only been back to Oklahoma once. Even tho I went to Tulsa to visit friends I had to make a special trip to go out there. I haven't found another place like it I wish I could figure out how to make those egg rolls and that orange sauce they have it would make my life really!

As David Allen Coe once said "it was all I could do to keep from cryin.." This restaurant is (was) owned by the cousins of the family who own(ed) King Wah in Midwest City. The egg rolls, and the beef chow mein are (were) exactly the same. Upon returning to Oklahoma this winter for the holidays I was informed that my beloved King Wah was closed, so we went to Blue Moon instead. My mother also worked here when I was very small and we lived in Edmond. I have fond memories of my red sony kids tape player, and a mesh wooden partition in the middle that separated the smoking and non-smoking sections 25 years ago. The menu is printed and laminated into a mini binder reminiscent of cheesecake factory without the ads. The dishes are the same, and we order what we know and love: garlic chicken for the little bro, beef chow mein for me and Dad, 2 egg rolls and some egg flower soup for the little one. Why its egg flower and not egg drop soup confuses me. I'm allergic to both so it doesn't really matter, now does it? You know you're in a recession when your egg roll is on a diet. It reminded me of a spring roll with an identity crisis hiding inside an egg roll wrapper. Granted, its an egg roll I love, but it was definitely slender. The entrees came out steaming hot, and looked how I remembered them. Now the turn- Steamed white rice was flakey- not sticky, and sort of dry. Beef chow mein was off. Super garlicy where there was no garlic before. Jono said his soup tasted funny, and didnt finish his garlic chicken. Dad ate everything. By the time we paid, and got in the car my heart was racing. I felt flushed in the face and my dad mentioned it might be from the MSG. MSG?!! We raced across town to get back home. I was in pain, and my heart hurt. I'm sorry to say we will never come back here again. *sigh* 25 years of memories ... (maybe I'll come back for egg rolls) All and all I puked everything up... so theres that too.

Sigh...it makes me sad when I eat bad Chinese food. There is just nothing worse then overbreaded dry chicken in sticky sweet syrup. Maybe I'm too harsh on this suburban restaurant but I found my order of orange chicken inedible. The restaurant itself is run down and has several ceiling tiles stained with leaks. The few strong points of this establishment would be the wonton soup which was excellent and the service. After noticing the mostly untouched portion of my lunch our waiter offered to remove it from the check. I will likely not be returning to this establishment.

I'm not sure why there are bad reviews for this place. Every single thing I ate was either the best or close to the best I have had anywhere. The egg rolls are phenomenal. The hot and sour soup is delicious. The sweet and sour pork was very good. Even the fried rice was delicious. There is no reason to be giving this place two stars. I suppose it's a matter of preference, but I thought this was way above and beyond nearly any other Chinese food I have eaten anywhere.

I love the egg rolls at Blue Moon. Yumm!! The lunch specials are the best! Soup, Egg Roll, and Main Entree' . Service is good to above average.

This place was really bad. The rice was well overcooked and mush. The sesame chicken was overly dry, obviously freezer burn. The egg rolls were dry doughy and flavorless. Really bad you can do better almost anyplace else.

I thought the food was more authentic for Chinese food in the OKC metro. The taste of the food was not on par with how busy the restraunt was. The service was great and it was clean but if you are going for a great meal to tantalize your taste buds, I might avoid this place.

This the second worst Chinese restaurant food I've had in Oklahoma City's metro area. I thought that when you fry something, it must turn out delicious; even the egg rolls were disgusting. The chicken fried rice was terrible, and the sweet and sour chicken tasted more like chemicals than food. Stay away if you value your stomach's health.

It is outrageous how implausible some people's ratings/comments here are. I get that when it comes to food and dining experiences many things can be subjective, but Blue Moon is no doubt a four-starred Chinese restaurant. First, Blue Moon is reasonably priced. They have lunch specials, dinner meals, and family meals, all of which are in the price range between 8-10 dollars. I believe with their dinner meals and family meals come fried wontons, egg drop soup and perhaps iced tea. Second, you receive excellent service here at Blue Moon. I find the staff to be always very friendly and accommodating, and my friend who has been coming to Blue Moon for at least twenty years reports that their high quality of service has remained consistent over the years. We have been getting to know some of their staff more personally and it has been nothing but a pleasure knowing them all. Third, of course the food. What I probably like the most about Blue Moon is that they have a rather well-balanced menu of authentic-ish and Americanized Chinese food. No, they do not have truly authentic Chinese, but they have quite a few dishes in Chinese food's spirit. Speaking as someone who has been eating authentic Chinese food for more than two decades, Blue Moon satisfies me most of the time and sometimes surprises me. Of course, they also have decent Orange Chicken and Beef Broccoli and such. I would also like to mention that they are very generous with their offerings. We almost always ask for a to-go box because there is always so much food left. Last but not least, they also have *very* good iced tea. It is a killer selling point for us. If you like iced tea too, go to Blue Moon. Blue Moon is a restaurant we dine in at least once a week, and I do not see that changing in the near future.

A lunch special at the Blue moon I ordered came with an egg roll and egg drop soup. I ordered the Hawaiian Chicken and sweet and sour pork with fried rice. The egg roll was a warm crispy she'll filled with well flavored shredded cabbage. The egg drop soup was an eggy flavored silky gel. The chicken was slightly dry with a crunchy coating. The sauce is a pleasantly sweet coating for both the chicken and pork. The pork were chewy balls of mild flavored pork well coated and served along side the chicken. The fried rice was a good example of the dish and well suited to sit along side the fried offerings. All in all The Blue Moon is a comfortable place to get old fashioned Chinese food.

Best Chinese food in town. Always fresh with a different twist on Chinese food. Consistently delicious. So good. Staff is always friendly and nice. If you haven't been here you should. You won't regret it. Don't usually ever give 5 stars. Truly 5 stars all the way.

Blue Moon is alright. The food quality is hit or miss. When it is a "miss" it's not terrible food, just over cooked usually or obviously pulled from the freezer. Still a better sit down Chinese restaurant than other local places I've tried. The service is always 5-stars. I wouldn't choose them for take out though, for some reason my standards are higher for Chinese take out!

This place is not fancy at all, but I love the food! The best Chinese food around! I stop in and eat here often, or get it take home (its just as good as take out). I have loved in different cities and have traveled even to other countries... this place has the best egg rolls around!

This is an amazing Chinese food place I have been to in Edmond. I came here to eat with my friend and I had also placed an order Togo for my mom and me. My friend's mother had been eating here before and she had no problem with it and I have no problem with it. Their Hawaiian chicken is amazing and so is the fried rice! (Egg rolls are delicious!) I would suggest coming here again.

I wanted to like Blue Moon. I went there for take-out for the first time last night. I drove all the way home and part of the order was wrong, so I had to drive all the way back (during rush hour, of course). They apologized and fixed the order. The food seemed pretty mediocre quality to me. The tiny chicken squares in the chicken fried rice were so unnatural looking, and the Cantonese chicken chow mein was an inedible mess. The vegetable fried rice was decent but a bit plain and greasy.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
