We visited the Hammett House just before a wedding at the Will Rodgers Museum. Called ahead for 20 and had no issue getting in. The decor is quaint and a little outdated. The pictures on the wall are of I think their children ha ha they're everywhere but cute though! We started off with fried chicken livers, fried green tomatoes and a bloomin onion... Lots of greasy goodness! The bloomin onion is worth raving about and FANTASTIC. Probably the best I've ever had, better than outback! I ordered the pecan crusted chicken salad which came with a BBQ dressing? I requested raspberry vinaigrette and was served with both. The BBQ dressing tasted like oil and BBQ sauce and was NOT appealing at alllll! However, the raspberry vinaigrette was amazing- highly recommend it! My BF got the kabobs which were great! Good Hawaiian flavor on the chicken and fresh veggies. However, someone at our table got the oriental chicken salad and the grilled chicken was undercooked. We had a very sweet and helpful waitress, she handled 20 people with ease and was so patient with us. I recommend this place for sure- just not the BBQ dressing!

First time back here in twenty years. I actually worked here 33 years ago. The decor is pretty much the same and they setup is the same. And I hate to say it but the carpet looks the same. With all that said the memory just pored back in. First of all the service was ok a little slow but the waitress was nice. We ordered the spaghetti and a country fried steak with soup and salad. Let's just say it was ok.

Decor is plain and simple, music is 50s playing lightly in the background. Food melts in your mouth, and is indeed something to write home about. So many items to choose from made it difficult to decide what to order...something for everyone - from a wide variety of salads and flavorful house-made dressings, award-winning chili, soups, sandwiches, steaks, and more. Yummy home-made yeast rolls too. They are known for their specially fried chicken or catfish (they call it "pamper fried"), and they also cooked a flavorful steak exactly as ordered. Ordered the flat-iron and it was surprisingly tender and juicy. And, oh my, the pie!!! Many unique flavors (lemon pecan, sour cream raisin, buttermilk chess, German chocolate, peanut butter chocolate chip, and more), absolutely deeee-licious. The meal portions are so large, you may need to take the pie home to eat Easy to see why they are the #1 rated place to eat here.

Very good food. My favorite though is the steak fingers. My wife and I both order these now that we discovered them. We usually do lunch here and don't have much or any wait. The service is good as well. On previous visits, I have tried the burgers and sandwiches and enjoyed them as well.

Service was alright. Food was alright. Water was alright. What else can you expect in Claremore.

Time and again I have eaten at the Hammett House after a trip to Will Rogers Memorial or the Arms museum. Time and a again it has always been a great place to stop for a meal. Nothing super fancy. Just solidly good food in a relaxed place. Also a place that will have something for everyone. But I do have to say if you a re meat person then the Hammett House is a place you will want to visit at least once. Things I love from the menu: The Filet. Fried Chicken. Turkey Fries. (Oddly enough this was the first place I had turkey fries) Fried Okra. (Right up there with other places) Salads that are always good. Chili-cheese burger. A Chicken-Fried Steak plate equal or better to any you will find. And lastly, when it's cold outside (or hot) they serve a mean coup of hot chocolate topped with all of the fresh made whipped cream you could ask for. I've even had them leave some extra on the table. Wonderful. Service has always been good. Sometimes not all that fast. But definitely always pleasant. I have never felt like I was ignored not matter where I sat, or how big the group was at the time. If' you're a local and have never been, then you have to go once. If' you're a tourist and want a slice of local life the Hammett House is a place you should visit. The one complaint, I never left this place in a state other than right on the edge of a food coma. It's just that good!

Came based on yelp for a PIE lunch.... Come on folks do not overrate a poor made pie - we're talking fresh home made pie not pizza. $7.50 for a slice. SORRY but both Sour Cream Raisin and Coconut Crème didn't cut it for us. I make pie and even my poorest pie was better than both. We planed to eat pie first then order a sandwich for lunch...pie was so poor we left. Service was good! Make sure you stop at Will Rogers Memorial!!! Plan on min of an hour!

Great home style food. I had the roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes, and my husband had chicken salad and Scandinavian soup. All top notch! Our server, Kyla, was efficient and friendly. We had coffee and German Chocolate pie for dessert, which were both outstanding. We will definitely be back when visiting, and recommend Hammett House as a place that takes pride in their products and service.

I like this place. The veggie burger with fried green tomatoes is one of my favorite sandwiches ever. They had a pimento-cheese sandwich on special last summer that was to die for, I can't wait until it comes back! Great place to have a work lunch, quiet & clean.

I like this place. The waitress was very attentive to us, and the steak and potatoes ordered (as well as the homemade yeast rolls) were wonderful. The buttermilk pie was great (especially the crust). While the decor at the restaurant is a little outdated, and they could remove the carpeting for a lineoleum or tile or wood floor, the food and staff are great.

Going to a restaurant is an experience. Great food is only part of it. The surroundings and the atmosphere are another. How you're treated is, in my opinion as important as all items mentioned above. Passing through Claremore, I was looking forward to take my friends (8 people total) to have a great southern american meal and to sample those famous pies. I'll sum it up. In at 6:30 p.m., out at 9:45 p.m. The restaurant was about half full. When I finally got up to tell our teen-age waiter that we were getting quite impatient after having waited over 45 minutes since the order, he pointed at the kitchen and said, "it's coming." I replied calmly, that I was the client (meaning please don't brush me off) and that we'd been here for over an hour (we took our time to order), and that the table that arrived right after us had already paid and left! He said again, "it's coming." I went back to my seat and sure enough within 5 minutes the food came. The waiter then came back and checked on us every 10 minutes, but the damage was done. Our great evening had turned into a not so great one. We did sample the pies; they were great. When the waiter brought the bill and told me that the 18% gratuity was included, I realized that I was not going to get the "I'm sorry for the wait" that I was hoping for. Sure, we were tourists and we'll very unlikely go back in this restaurant. What's also sure, is that I'm not recommending anyone this treatment. I'm sure there are great alternatives for tourists like us in Claremore. Pick another one if you don't want to risk having this kind of experience.

Great food. Excruciatingly slow service. Their matzoh ball soup is yummy enough to drink with a straw. Excellent! They are famous for their Pampered Fried Chicken which is worth the lengthy wait. The chicken fried chicken is very good, too. Their salads are really tasty, but they are huge! Don't order a half salad, or tell the server you want to share a salad with another person. Regular size salads are around $8.50 but a half salad is $7.50. That's right. Half the size for a dollar less.
