My favorite place to eat when I'm in Altus. I always get the chicken enchiladas and it comes with rice and beans + a taco. A lot of food for not a lot of money! They only take CASH so keep that in mind when visiting.

Good breakfast burritos. The drive thru is nice in the mornings.

I've driven by this small "Mom and Pop" Taco place for years. Then I heard from some of my co-workers have you tried it, then we are going! Go early, not a lot of seating. Enter on Main Street. Go to the right around the Salsa bar and order your food, no table device here. Cash only. Just a heads up on the cash situation. Cleanliness 5/5, Service 5/5, quality of food was 5/5! I got the Chicken chili burrito, still got a warm feeling in my belly. Others got the chicken enchiladas and they were amazing, deep flavors. Must try them for breakfast. Have quite a selection, open Mon-Sat. Come early, come often! TV in the corner, well decorated place. Doing this one again! Came back for breakfast. Steak taco was amazing as was the carne guisada which was the tops. The sausage egg tacos were a little greasy and had very little flavor, I'd pass on those.

Possibly the best Mexican restaurant in town. The breakfast tacos are worth waiting in line for at least once a week and the enchiladas are easily the best in town. The only thing I've had there that I DON'T like was the "fajita" chicken quesadilla, which was stuffed with semi-crunchy onions & peppers. Not worth the extra money, especially when the plain ol' chicken quesadilla is super yummy. There is always a lot of food and it's relatively inexpensive - definitely a great value. The Plaza gives this place a run for it's money, but Pick Up Taco is my personal favorite. Edit :: This is a very small, hole-in-the-wall kinda place, and that's one thing I happen to love about it. I do, however, think it would be really cool if they could start serving alcohol (yay beer!) and maybe open up a patio. Just a thought, a girl can dream!

I had the Carne Guisada (beef). It was amazing!!! I also ordered the Chorizo taco this morning! On point! Always clean and so yummy! Just bring CASH ONLY.

I came here because of the good reviews. I got worried when i saw the super cheap prices and thought it may not be good quality. I was soooo wrong! This is probably the best Mexican food I've ever had. And that's a lot coming from me! Even my normally grumpy husband wowed silently after ever bite! I will come here for the rest of our station here!

Breakfast burritos were huge. Real steak and great salsa. We are stuffed!! And it was around $9 for 2 of us.

Great Mexican food. The flavor is among the best. Salsa & chips good too!

Great food, low prices. Tacos and enchiladas are their best fare. The burritos are good too, but in my opinion the tacos and enchiladas are a lot better. Salsa bar is very good, and you get a small basket of chips with every combo order. The food typically comes before you finish your chips. Free refills on fountain drinks -- no more buying cans of soda to go with your food! If you're in a rush, they also have a drive-thru.

This is some of the best Mexican food you can get in Altus, and in my opinion one of the better places to eat out as well. The food is inexpensive and god quality. I always get the chicken burrito #16 and highly recommend it. I had a friend order the enchiladas and had a lackluster experience- so your experience here may vary. The guacamole salsa at the salsa bar is also worth a trip here.

Breakfast tacos from here are amazing! Guacamole with chips was not that good, but passable. Everything I've had off their menu is decent, but the breakfast tacos are cheap, huge, and out of this world.

Inexpensive, delicious, and lots of food. The only gripe I have is that they do not have much in terms of "authentic" Mexican food. However, the barbacoa beef tacos on Saturdays are amazing!

Great mexican food for a low price. I love their tortillas. They also have excellent breakfast. My favorites are the flour beef tacos, taco salad, corn beef tacos, taquitos, and breakfast tacos!

Everything I have eaten from here is delicious. My favorite is the special they make on Fridays...it's some kind of spinach enchilada and it is DECLICIOUS! Their chips and salsa are yummy, too! This place doesn't suck!

Great Mexican food in a small family run joint. The staff couldn't have been more friendly. I had the cheese enchilada special. I can't remember the last time I took a bite of chili and thought wow. Their chili has fresh chili powder in it and the taste shows it. The salsa bar was fresh, but I wanted the HOT to be hotter. Overall I would stop by this joint again the next time I'm near Altus.

This is definitely the best Mexican food in Altus, which isn't saying much. We worked in the area for three months and had time to try them all. They have all of your Mexican staples, enchiladas, tacos, burritos and chips and salsa. The food however is very bland , salt and pepper would go a long ways. They do not accept credit cards so bring cash, which is crazy in the age of the square. The salsa bar is nice but kinda of pointless considering the small size of the chip bowls. They close kinda early in the evening and will all but kick you out or lock you in. If you need your Mexican fix in Altus then by all means enjoy, it will do the job, but definitely won't leave you craving for more.

This was our first visit. It's a tiny place, kind of a hole in the wall. I was glad we'd already heard that they only accept cash, since we don't usually carry any. The woman at the counter was friendly and made some suggestions about the menu. I ordered the 3 Amigos plate and my husband ordered the chicken chili burrito. Both came with a small bowl of tortilla chips, and we each had a soda. We tried a few things from the salsa bar and they were all very tasty. Our food was ready quickly and it was all hot and delicious. The portions were generous without being too huge and I practically licked my plate clean. The total for everything including tip was less than $20. We will definitely go back again.

Tortillas aren't fresh, and some of the ingredients taste like they prepackaged and not fresh. Salsa is too watery, Aricelli's had homemade fresh salsa that was way better. And they don't take credit cards.

Meh. Used to be a whole lot better. This place used to be the go-to Mexican restaurant, but they have kind of dropped the ball.

This is fast and delicious! They don't take credit card. But they take checks if you don't have cash. The specials are a great deal. For the amount of food you get, it is inexpensive. The salsas they have are also tasty. Not hot, but full of flavor.

Was weary that Pick Up taco was the best rated restaurant in Altus but was glad when we went! Yummy salsa bar and good service. The plates are huge and was more then enough for lunch. I had the tamales and a beef taco. For a lighter lunch stick with the tacos.

I don't understand the people who claim this is the best Mexican in town. First, it is only ok. There are at least 2 other Mexican places in town I find to be better. Second, in any other town, this place would be 2 stars. In Altus, it is better than most.

Congratulations at making number 1 in Altus. Normally I would try to be witty. Not today I guess. Just wanted to say thank you for the 10 years of uncompromised great food and service. Well deserved.

I prefer small, local, hole-in-the-wall joints and this fits the bill exactly. It may not be the best Mexican you ever had but it will hit the spot and the staff has been very friendly. I like the breakfast tacos the best. They are greasy and delicious as they should be with chorizo! They do only take cash; no plastic.

Wonderful place to eat and very well priced. The breakfast burritos are definitely my favorite. It isn't in the best part of town and looks like a bit of a hole in the wall bit don't let that deceive you. This food is fabulous.

It's ok. They only take cash so I do avoid the place. Food is just ok. I think it just has a local following for some reason.

If you beat the lunch crowd, this place has awesome food. I love the spinach enchiladas! The restaurant is small and only has about ten tables so you may have to wait for one. They do have a drive thru so that is an option, but I only use it for breakfast....oh I didn't mention they have great breakfast burritos. They are a little on the pricey side for me, but they do go down good!

Went here for breakfast with my husband, specifically for the burritos. Mine was very tasty - beans, egg, cheese and potatoes. I was a lot of food for $4 and it tasted pretty darn fresh. It's nothing fancy, but it was good for a filling breakfast burrito. The service was very quick!

Good for Altus and especially for the price. Great prices, quick service, good portions, good food. Went for lunch and got some enchiladas and tacos. Would like to try their breakfast burritios I've heard so much about.

Very tasty! I've eaten at a lot of Mexican restaurants, and this is one of the best! I had the cheese enchilada, and shared a chicken amd spinach with hubby. It was served with a side of fresh lettuce and tomatoes. The salsa was very good! The soapillas were yummy also! Very reasonable prices and friendly wait staff. Too bad we were just here for 1 night! 8-)

The first thing I do when I walk into a Mexican restaurant is ask 'Do you have horchata?'. if they say no, I walk out. This time I was too hungry to just leave. Food was good but not even close to authentic Mexican. Being from Tucson Arizona you know where the good stuff is at. Lemonade tasted weird For being in Oklahoma and Altus... I give them a 4 because they are nice and try hard

You know what they say about those hole in the wall joints...they rock! This is authentic mexican food, although the menu is a little small. I had the enchilada plate and it was tasty, and so were the chips & salsa. My buddy had the steak tacos and he said they were really good as well. Not just good for Altus, OK, this is good food period!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
