Sakura warrants an update now that I've returned multiple times since my previous review. The dining options are still the same, from the hibachi to the sushi to the traditional menu. However, it has definitely gained some luster with a friendlier and more personable staff, as well as a mastermind of an executive chef (Kengo.) For unexplainable reasons, I've gravitated towards the yakitori my last couple of visits. Maybe it was due to the fact that the skewered chicken was grilled to perfection -- slightly charred around the edges -- with just the right amount of sauce. As far as sushi goes, Sakura offers a fairly good selection. With some of the tastiest rolls and freshest sashimi cuts in town, there's bound to be something for all tastes and for all comfort zones -- from the novice to the veteran sushi eaters. While I'm not too fond of deep fried rolls, the dynamite roll is a good splurge, since it retains the flavors of the different types of meats without sacrificing its crunchiness. I guarantee there will be a battle for the last piece. Those who are slightly more adventurous can leave it in the chef's hands to shell out more unique, meticulous sushi presentations. Each trip back has been a welcoming and pleasant one, with no signs of being rushed whatsoever. Perhaps my first Toledo omakase experience is in order during my next visit.

50% off rolls on FRIDAY NIGHTS!!!! WAHOOOOOOOO THis is how i feel everytime i go to Toledo on a Friday!! If sushi places have specials, its usually just on the same ol' spicy tuna roll and on Mondays between 11-3 when you cant go. BUt not here! Its awesome to be able to choose from a variety of rolls and still smile when you get your bill. The service is always a bit slow, but its understandable. Its always busy on Fridays! One roll we had was frozed....eeks. BUt i think it was just the fish inside that was frozen, and the waitress happily took it off our bill. No questions asked. Thats always a plus. This is a great place for date nite or a large group bc they have hibachi grills. So much fun when you mix in a few sake bombs too! Cheers!

The food is amazing! The best time to head here is on Friday night's they offer half price sushi rolls after 9 p.m. If you can handle the crowds and wait time the sushi is well worth it. The Buckeye Roll is by far my favorite roll offered. The drinks are strong so be careful what you order.

Way over priced for low quality food.

We visit Sakura pretty often, we get hibachi dinners cooked in the kitchen and served at our booths but lately something has been happening and it's getting worse. Last night we went ordered our dinner. Soups came out fast as usual then the salad, always before halfway done with soup, then within a minute our dinner was sitting there. Sure quick is good in somethings but when your dinner sits for 10-15 minutes while you finish soup and salad the value of the meal is diminished. I don't like cold food. Then as soon as we started eating dinner our check was delivered...it wasn't busy in the restaurant. Waitress said "no hurry" when check was delivered it felt like we needed to get out of there fast. Rethinging our regular visits here.

This is the most underwhelming place for sushi in Toledo. I've actually had nicer sushi from Kroger. The rolls were chewy and the sashimi dinner included imitation crab. Go for hibachi but give the sushi a miss.

Over 3 years later, still the same. First I'll note that the "Now Hiring" sign on their main sign out front has been up for 5 years. This should be your first sign not to eat here. I didn't want to go back here, but some friends were in town and really wanted to, so I went. Just like all my previous experiences the service is terrible. Sushi is very over priced and portions are small. I'll still give it 2 stars because the Hibachi is average. It's like people eat here because they don't know about all the other amazing sushi restaurants in Toledo, it's sad.

Delicious food! Truly awesome environment and great staff on board. My waitress was Tiffany and she was absolutely friendly and helpful. I will definitely visit again when I'm back in town for work! Macy M. Duluth, GA

Hibachi here is okay. I do love hiba chi, so I go back for it-- always a fun thing to do with friends or family. It is quite salty, a lot of butter is used, but isn't that always the case? In any case, I usually stick with the steak hibachi with fried rice, sometimes of for the scallops. Sushi here is fine as well. I go back, but not the best I've had.

I am definitely a fan of Sakura - one of the main reasons being the social atmosphere. I also appreciate the Monday-Thursday 4:30-6:30 half priced apps and $2 drafts at the bar... I ordered pretty much all the apps when I found out they were like $3 each. (yakitori, rock shrimp tempura & tuna tataki were all so good!) The miso soup is pretty average nothing super amazing, I usually order it anyway. Onto the sushi I have ordered the Super Sakura, Y2K, Angel, Hot Babe, and the Spicy Girl. My faves were Super Sakura and the Hot Babe. I wasn't really a fan of the Angel. They also have a nice list of cocktails, martinis, etc. The place is pretty big - good for big groups. The staff is pretty friendly and gave me some good recommendations on which items to order. One thing that did confuse me was when I heard country music playing on the radio... I'm a fan of country, but at a Japanese Steakhouse? whatevs.

I was impressed with the menu and quality of the food. It seems everyone was having fun. It was a different kind of experience for me as I had never been to a Japanese Steak House previous. I was in the mood for steak AND Sushi and to try Sake...and Sakura did the trick. SPRINT Cell signal inside OK WiFi Unknown

Please note that my review reflects everything EXCEPT the sushi. I am critiquing the service, hibachi and menu. I will start off with three words to describe this place: 1) Overpriced 2) Underseasoned 3) OVERRATED. Clearly you are paying for the hibachi show that is put on by the chefs at the table. I am appalled by all the rave reviews of Sakura. This is especially concerning since you can see everything that they put in the food. Fried Rice- Rice, butter, eggs, soy sauce, and maybe salt and pepper. How basic!!! The vegetables and meat are seasoned similarly. The cook looked extremely offended when I asked him for the sesame seeds off of his cart. I was looking for some sort of flavor. He obviously wasn't using it on our food, and I figure that I am entitled to it at entrees starting no less than $20 a piece. Furthermore, the clear liquid in a squirt bottle that they sometimes pour on the food and use to ignite an onion volcano is........sake........WRONG. That would be the appropriate choice, especially if you went for the $32 entrée. Guess again, it is vodka. (At least they use the high end spirits.) WRONG AGAIN. It is Kamchatka folks. Yes, your filet was doused with grocery store vodka. Let's now address the final problem which is the most important- cross contamination. Just watch how the platter of vegetables is stacked on top of the raw meat. Then the cook places the tray on the edge of the grill, thus exposing raw meat on the edge of the grill. He then puts a raw piece of zucchini on this ledge to cut it up in order to fling it into customer's mouths. Now if I pointed this out to every diner, most wouldn't set foot into the place again. The two stars are given for the décor and freshness of the ingredients. Another side note: The background music is modern pop, which is terribly off-putting. Nothing like a restaurant claiming to be high-end blasting 92.5. Completely ridiculous. If you want me to cook you a flavorful Japanese meal for 1/2 of the price, let me know.

This place makes for a great meet-up spot to relax with some friends after long work week. The sushi is very good, the hibachi is excellent, and the service is fast. A small concern I had was not being able to order vegetable gyoza, as I don't eak pork products but that was totally fine and understood. I would say the prices however are a bit steep, but that's not to say the quality of sushi isn't there.

I just celebrated my birthday and Sakura did not disappoint me! I enjoyed a lemon drop martini and a volcano roll with friends. We then all decided to have the hibachi filet. I must mention that we sat at the tatami tables & had plenty of space and time to talk to one another. (Conversation...something I think you can miss at the hibachi tables) I thoroughly enjoyed my entire dinner and my children inhaled their children's hibachi shrimp & steak. A restaurant on my "must visit" list!

QUESTION: Why would a guy who really doesn't care for Japanese food eat at Sakura at least 60 times in the last 5 years? (Unfortunately, I'm not kidding...it's probably more like 100 times.) PROBABLE REAL ANSWER: His California-girl wife loves sushi. ANSWER HE GIVES HIMSELF: Sakura is a fun and happening spot which has very good teppanyaki (which he does like). From the grill, I've had the chicken, filet mignon, tuna and even the scallops. Nothing unique about the taste of these items, but they are always very well prepared. HE GOES ON TO ADD: They have a good enough selection of sake and beer, not to mention a drink menu that is diverse and ever changing. Bakon Bloody Mary? Woo Hoo!! It's nice to hang out and imbibe on the patio during the summer months. Know this: Sakura can get busy and you may end up waiting up to 30 minutes from the time you sit down until the time your chef makes it to your teppan. But hey, that's what appetizers and side dishes (not to mention booze) are for. You might wait even longer to sit down. The waitresses, however, have always been great. Sushi? Oh yeah, I hear tell that they make sushi at Sakura, too. Six thumbs up from my wife, my brother-in-law, and my mother-in-law. The only thing I'm qualified to add is the following: If it's the taste of seaweed that is holding you back, the sushi chefs at Sakura are willing to use rice paper instead, for no, or only a nominal, extra fee. Worth a visit or two. Or 60. Or 100.

Good quality sushi & decent prices here. I was iffy about a sushi spot in michigan, being from florida & having access to the freshest seafood there is but I was pleased with the food here but there was nothing too memorable to mention. The staff was very nice considering we had a child with us who was tossing rice all over the floor! Will definitely put in on my list of places to return to next time I'm in the area

I was in town visiting my parents, and we came here because Kotobuki was closed on a Sunday, boo. The acoustics are terrible, especially for a restaurant which is regularly doing big loud hibachi grill performances. The sushi was a bit overpriced, compared to what you'd get for the same cost in New York. I got the sushi dinner, which was to be like, 8 pieces of sushi plus a California roll. I asked to sub a salmon roll instead, because fake crab meat, bleh, and the salmon roll a la carte was only a dollar more. The waitress told me they couldn't do this, because "it would be an upcharge, and we can't do an upcharge on a roll". Oookay. Anyway, I went with it. My mom's dish was late because the ticket got lost in the kitchen, so they brought out my and my dad's meals first, which is dumb, because we both got sushi- it's not like it's going to get *cold*. Anyway, the presentation was nice when we did get our food, all of the sushi was fresh and really just fine, except one of the "chef's selection" for my sushi was a big ol piece of fake crab meat. This is so lame, this is really bad. Put it in your California roll because it's for people who are a lil scared of raw fish, but don't give anyone a giant piece of fake crab on rice and call it sushi; that's just ridiculous. Ah well.

I have never been so turned off by food in my entire life. If I could give this unsanitary dump a big, fat ZERO out of five stars, I would be more than happy to. I've been to Sakura about 8 times total. Before my most recent (and final) visit, I was going to tell you that this place isn't all that bad in terms of sushi quality and taste. I was going to tell you that it's really cool that this place is open until 11 pm, unlike most sushi places in the area. I was going to tell you that although the rolls are overpriced you can go after 9:30 pm on Friday and Saturday night, when all maki rolls are priced at 50% off. I was going to tell you that I come here when it's too late to go to my favorite sushi place across town, which closes at 9:30 pm. Instead, I'm going to recommend that no one ever come here ever again. What was the final straw for me? I ordered an eel and avocado roll on 50% off night, I ate a few pieces, and then I noticed a small insect crawling on top of my eel. Yes, that's right. A live bug crawling on top of my dinner, sticking its little bug feelers right into my food. I immediately stopped eating. My girlfriend spit out the piece of sushi she had in her mouth. I don't blame her one bit. It took us a few minutes to flag someone down, but we informed the closest waitress, who brought management over. The bug, thankfully, was still crawling all over my food, so the manager was able to witness it for himself. He seemed shocked, and I should think so. We simply said we were all set, we did the right thing and paid for our appetizer, and we walked out. Even if they would have offered a redo or a free meal, I would not be interested at all. Sushi is risky eating anyways, according to some medical studies. No one needs a risky meal being prepared in risky, uncleanly conditions. I seriously question the overall cleanliness of the restaurant and how their food is kept and prepared. I would never recommend anyone go there ever again. It could have been a freak thing, but it really only takes one time like this to turn you off of a place like that forever. As you could imagine, I will not be back. If you choose to eat here I really hope you don't get sick.

I frequent many Japanese Steakhouse's and this one BY FAR takes the prize. Everything from their great staff to their great food and EVERYTHING in between. I've been going to this place since they opened bu never got a chance to yelp them, but always wanted to. Their sushi is very impressive, always fresh. Their Hibachi is by far the best experience for me I've had at a Japanese Steakhouse. Cooks are obviously Japanese and their humor is hilarious. I often bring my young daughter (7yo) and she loves it as well. The food is very distinct tasting and always cooked to perfection, with plenty left to pack up and head home with. As good as it gets, trust me.

I was taken here by a gentleman for a first date. The date was mediocre, the food was delicious. Despite the awkward conversation, I was able to quite enjoy myself as watching the hibachi was entertaining and I liked the atmosphere. A little loud and busy but definitely fun. The rolls we ordered were excellent and very tasty (failing to remember the names) The deal of 50% off rolls after 9pm on Thursday and Friday is great. I'll definitely be going back without Mr. Wrong.

Oh, Sakura. This Toledo staple is an example of how Toledoans don't know any better and support a lackluster, diarrhea-inducing establishment. I've been here off and on over the years, and stopped going because of the terrible service. College kids are irritating enough, but when they're your server and more interested in hanging out at the host/hostess podium with their friends, I'm especially perturbed. Needing a place to eat near the Franklin Park Cinema, my friend and I decided to give this place another go. Service was unusually friendly, informative, and fast this Saturday night, and the half-off sushi deal was enticing. The sushi was okay, but as usual we were surrounded by bratty college students. Overall, however, I was impressed with their service this time. Fast forward 4 hours later and my friend and I are both having the most painful diarrhea in the history of Rave cinema, Franklin Park mall. Tip for any males going to Franklin Park Mall: don't use the men's restroom by theater 4, I'm sure it still smells like someone ate a putrid rat and sharted it out all over the bathroom. Ugh, I felt bad for the custodian. Bottom line, if you want mediocre sushi and hit-or miss service with a good food poisoning-induced colon cleanse, check out Sakura Toledo! I still give it two stars because that was a good deal for sushi.

I've been to Sakura many times, because for some reason everyone thinks they should celebrate everything there, and I just don't see what they are all raving about. First of all, I've had multiple bland hibachi dinners. From the chicken to the lobster, the textures taste the same and are all seasoned the same. The best thing about this place is the sushi, especially Friday nights when it's half price. Their downfall, however, is the extremely slow service. If you order sushi, expect it to be up to 20-30 minutes to get your order, and on Fridays you could wait up to 45 minutes after ordering. My solution? Take-out! I don't get the half price deal, but what do I care? My time and patience is worth more than that, anyway. Well, let's talk about take-out service. I've had multiple orders messed up before I finally gave up on this place all together. One time I ordered sushi to go on our way to the drive in, only to get there and find that all the staff gave us was white rice, large sides of soy sauce, and some soup. Disappointing, considering we had just been charged $40 for the lot. When I called the restaurant they were less than understanding. At least I got them to refund the charge but offered nothing to compensate. The thing that made me give up was when an entire order of sushi came out covered in roe. And no, none of the rolls we had ordered were supposed to have roe. Once again, $40 worth of sushi wasted. I didn't even bother calling that time. It was the last time, anyway.

Went here for the first time on Saturday and had a good experience. Sat at the grill. The "grillmaster" was very friendly and personable. Some of his tricks were flawed, but overall he did a great job. We ordered sushi to start - shrimp tempura and the spicy tempura rolls - you know...not really sushi, sushi. The rolls were tasty, but the spicy tempura roll was gigantic - in diameter. My girlfriend didn't even want to try it for fear that she would choke. I had no complaints though. I ordered the filet and shrimp...I thought the portion of shrimp that you received for the upcharge was generous. They do not skimp you on the meat if you order a combo with shrimp, so that was nice. I would have liked a little more seasoning on the shrimp...it came across as a little bland. The meat was nice and tender. Overall, I'd say it gets about a 3.5 star rating, but I gave it a 4 just because it is expensive and I am trying to make myself feel better for spending that much. It's a fun experience if you - or someone you're with - hasn't done it before, but like some of the other posters have alluded to - if you've seen one hibachi, you've seen 'em all.

Pretty good, Had to wait a while, but had a full Bar at the waiting area, Food was good, Tad bit expensive though, in other Japanese grills the food cost less, and it roughly the same quality the Tea wasn't particularly great, still a good overall experience, I do recommend the hibachi, super cool to watch, The Sake Was great, then again i love Sake If your near franklin park and want sushi, stop by here

It's worth the long waits! I have found over the years that a lot of sushi places suck, but when you find the place that hits the spot, you will go there until they either close, burn down, or you stuff your face so full of sushi, that you're body ends up rejecting it. With that said, any sushi cravings I have are always fulfilled by Sakura. I typically only go on happy hour night, because their prices are pretty pricey. And if you are going for happy hour, you have to show up AT LEAST 30 minutes before it starts, because a lot of people go for happy hour (it starts at 9:30pm, I prefer to get there at 8:30-8:45 to get our name on the list). The happy hour is on Fridays and Saturdays and only at 9:30pm, so get ready to be there a while. Their quality of the seafood is good as well. I like to get salmon and tuna, and it's so tender and fresh that it melts in your mouth! The servers are always running around like crazy because it's so busy, but they are all very sweet and nice, which is refreshing! Great, now I want to go eat sushi and it's only 5 o'clock.....

Sakura is a a favorite of ours. We love the hibachi and can't comment on the dining experience outside of the grill. There is a charming goofiness with which the chefs conduct their little shows. The kids love it, even though the same jokes surface time after time. Who cares, it's fun! The hibachi food is very good. They'll be careful if you have seafood allergies, as they've been with us. The martinis are very good. Don't skip the rock shrimp tempura appetizer. It's delicious!

For toledo, Sakura has very good sushi. Let's talk about the hibachi first: The hibachi grill is probably a 2-3 star rating. The taste is mediocre, the tricks are very standard, and it's a tad over priced. That being said, given that it's in Toledo, I would still recommend it. On to the sushi: I will give it a 4 star because I am a frequent flier there on every Friday and Saturday night for the happy hour 50% off all rolls. The Sushi are very comparable to the ones I'm accustomed in Los Angeles, which is very high standard. With the 50% off, you can't ask for more. I especially like their negihama (yellow tail), and they're definitely not stingy on giving you the raw fish contents (unlike other competitor in Toledo). Overall, I highly recommend the sushi, sashimi, but I would hold back on the hibachi grills.

This place was awesome. We ended up here after attempting to eat at several scary establishments. I was expecting it to be cheesy and awful but was quickly proved wrong as soon as we got there. If you're in Toledo I highly recommend it. It's not located in a mall! The service was very friendly and sincere. The drink menu was tastefully fun without being cheesy. The music was great - perfect volume and fun. The food was solid - good portions, fresh and tasty. Don't expect Morimoto quality, but you can get a very good steak, sushi, and teriyaki . Prices were good.

We have dined at the Sakura several time and enjoyed it. I love their selections of sashimi, and the Sobo noodles are also very good. Excellent location for a group dinner. Don't plan on a intimate evening as the place is large and can be somewhat noisey. Also, plan on waiting for a table, but the wait is worth it.

Sushi is among the top 3 in Toledo (neighbor Sori being among them as well). Hibachi is best enjoyed from afar: tricks are routine and the food is only OK. If you're going for something other than sushi I would suggest ordering from the kitchen and avoiding hibachi altogether (unless you enjoy mediocrity or ill-temped steaks). At one time the menu seemed to be updated pretty frequently but has been stagnant the last year or so.

Great, flavorful sushi. and a nice, elegant Asian atmosphere. One of the best sushi restaurants in the Toledo area.

    (4)
  • Tom X.

The restaurant is a little theme-parky. You walk into the door and cross over a mini coy-pond on a small wooden bridge. You then enter the main dining room that's setup with Hibachi booths and in the back tucked in the corner is a nice little tatami seating area for those that have legs that can bend that way. There's a large party room perfect for a large group and we've had the pleasure of using that room and it was a rather good time with friends. - The hibachi..... not sold on it, the food is just plain average but the show is great. They know what they're doing for sure and are rather skilled at it, but the quality of the food is just not worth it in my opinion for the price. If you're willing to pay for the show and receive average food, then by all means do not let me deter you from trying the Hibachi. - The sushi... not much to say, just plain average.

  • Kelly R.

I love Sakura. The filet is delicious and the drinks are great. I enjoy the entertainment that the chefs put on. There is one however that does not seem to enjoy his job and every time I have him he makes our steaks well done as opposed to rare. Other than that it is very enjoyable!

  • Hank's Dad R.

I've only been to about four different Japanese steakhouses so my knowledge is limited, but this seems to be a pretty good place. Of these types of restaurants for hibachi, they all seem remarkably the same in terms of the food and how it's prepared (not that that's a bad thing). It's not cheap.

    (3)
  • Faith C.

Not a place I would recommend to others. Their food is decent- not the best rolls and only a limited selection, but better than grocery store sushi. The hibachi is ok if you've never been. The tricks are the same as any other hibachi grill only the chefs do it as a robotic, unenthusiastic routine. The hibachi food itself is not the best- if you get it, go for the shrimp. The rest is just ok. The reason I would NOT recommend this place is the service is horrible considering that the food is just average. The waitresses seem to have too much to handle, especially when they have half- off sushi nights (where waits are usually at least 30-45 minutes if not longer). And the managers are rude! My last visit, I waited over an hour for my food and was served after other tables that arrived a lot later than I did. When I asked to speak to a manager, the one was too busy with a personal conversation. The other manager was just rude from the start and made up non-sensical excuses ("we have too many customers to keep track of who's order is placed first".) He didn't seem to care that they were giving out bad service- in fact he was the worst offender. Bottom line- the prices are above average (unless you go for half off sushi), the food is average, and the service is just plain horrible.

My biased opinion is that I think Hibachi grills are meant for Disney World. Even with my slapstick sense of humor, I don't see the appeal. People get hit in the face with hot food and then look embarrassed. My unbiased opinion is that they have fresh, tasty sushi. I have only gone there on Friday nights for half-price rolls. Do not go in expecting a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. Wait staff is hit or miss. One was very knowledgeable about the restaurant's vegan options for my friend while another never noticed an empty glass until you set it on the edge of the table.

Finally the Toledo area gets another great Japenese restaurant. I've visited many times before but have yet to find a dish that I didn't love. Besides having great food, the restaurant looks magnificent. Going to restaurants is much more than the food, its the overall experience. When you walk into the bar, you immediately walk up a ramp over a small koi pond. You are greeted and have your choice of sushi bar, bar, hibachi or table. I always get a table and have a taste of all the restaurant has to offer. I start with a cocktail from the bar, these drinks are strong. My first drink was a Nasty Girl or Naughty Girl, whichever it was, I was feeling to giddy to remember. Do you like bananas? Monkey Business might be for you and I believe it is stronger than the "girl". Well worth the $8. The Soy Beans, or Edamame, is the same as any other place or if you make it yourself. Just overpriced, you can get a 1 lb. bag for 2 dollars, instead, Sakura gave me half-a-pound, sprinkled it with sea salt and sold it to me for $4. But its a service I suppose, and the salt helps the cocktail... But the Miso Soup, is, what it is. It's not a departure from any other place that you can order it. But lets no longer focus on the negative, I love Tempura anything from this place. Tempura shrimp, vegetables or chicken, they have the perfect amount of Panko breadcrumbs and a great all-purpose tempura sauce that compliments it quite well. I always want to try something new, but it has to fit into my stomach with the tempura. Besides the taste, I love the presentation, its "fancy". Its kind of like seeing fireworks for the first time. They put down the plate and you think to yourself, 'what is that?' but it sinks in and you are just murmering, "ooooo" (and I'm talking oo as in 'igloo' peeps). :D But they place the tempura on the plate, which is a piece of work itself, like a sculpture and they garnish the plate with lettuce, lemon wedge and a flower, or sakura. What else is great, the spicy tuna roll. But where isn't it? Its just like the miso soup, it is what it is. But one thing that comes into a large portion but is still to small is the teriyaki beef. The meat is tender, the taste is tender. It's served with rice, and if I can give you any advice, let the sauce drip into the rice. Hands down, visit, I love the look, the food, the liqour and the service. The only thing Sakura could improve is the location of its sushi bar and having tables so close to the bathrooms, I was one of the misfortunate guests in the overwhelmed restaurant.

I have to disagree with Sakura not being good for kids. My nephews LOVE it! At ages 13 and 9 they took the waitress by surprise when ordering their favorites-Crispy Calamari and the Buckeye roll (they are OSU fans). We have been there as a family at least 4 times in the last 6 months. We have yet to sit at the cooking tables as we prefer the slower pace of sitting at a table. My nephews especially like sitting at the tatami tables as if you have more than 4 in your group it will accommodate you. I was disappointed in the Hot and Sour soup, not much taste and not worth the $6. I would have given Sakura 5 stars, but for the lack of larger dining tables if you don't want teppan yaki, and the soup.

Busy, busy, busy! But I loved it! Sakura had a wide variety Asian cuisine to indulge in. We had the money bags, the miso and mushroom soup, some sushi rolls, chicken katsu, the Sumo steak, and I had the Nabiyake Udon Tempura bowl. Everything was too delicious, and we also enjoyed seeing people catch food at the habachi tables. People getting hit in the head with food and laughing about it was hilarious.

Full disclosure: I am not crazy about hibachi. Everything ends up tasting like the grill and it just doesn't do it for me. Plus, I'm terrible at catching shrimp in my mouth. I end up at Sakura at least a couple times a year because someone I know has a party there, and it is a fun place to celebrate. They have a variety of fun martinis and a few Japanese beers, and good seating areas for large groups. The sushi is good but not outstanding. On my last visit, I had teriyaki tofu. The tofu was very well grilled (which is tough to do), but the sauce was too sweet (even as teriyaki goes). If you like hibachi it's probably the best place to go in Toledo, and it's always fun.

A birthday staple with the family! The hibachi is amazing, great food, beautiful atmosphere and really entertaining. Definitely worth the above average pricing

The food is second rate. Pretty slow establishment. Definitely didn't help that our order was incorrect and when we asked the waitress to take it off our bill the manager came out and berated us that it was our fault the order was wrong and that because we ate a piece of the sushi we didn't deserve a refund. Wait staff was delightful. Inside smelled of burnt pancakes and fish food.

Just a regular Japanese steak house. Looks nicer than really is. Waiters are a spin of the dice, either nice and very friendly or just plain rude and could not care less. The food took forever on a saturday night. The owner was rude an dwas pissed that our party wanted Sushi only an ddid not order off the Hibachi even though we had reservations and let them know we will only be ordering sushi. pricey and bad service. I would not come back, there are many better places in Toledo!

The food's okay, but the service is horrible. The wait staff is young and usually rude. I've yet to receive good service. Today I ordered a beer at the bar, five minutes later my table was ready but my beer was not even though other people in my party were served. The bartender even asked me if I still wanted my beer as we were settling our tab. If you're not eating at the hibachi grill, then expect that your food will come out cold. It even took more than 15 minutes to get a bottle of soy sauce.

I have done both hibachi and sushi at Sakura. The sushi is pretty good - I like it better than any other place in Toledo (I have tried them all). The service is excellent. The sushi is reasonably priced and the hibachi is not bad either. The food is good across the board - I don't think I have had a bad meal there. I lived in Toledo for over a year and I would eat there about 3 times per month. Not the best sushi ever and if you high expectations - you won't find anything great in Toledo. The service is excellent and the people are very nice. All in all - if you happen to be in Toledo and really need a sushi fix - this is the place to go.

We went there because my kids want to go there. Food was mediocre at best. The hibachi taste all the same but I guess my kids like the show on the flat grill when the grill master throwing food around ! Not my kind of place.

I love that Toledo has a Habachi. A bit pricey, but entertaining. It is kind of like the Mongolian Grill, it's great the first time, but the second is a lesser experience because everything is exactly the same routine. Food was average, good sushi, but nothing that stood out the two times I was there.

don't waste your money. unless you like horrible service, salty soup, non-crispy oily calamari, and overpriced mediocre sushi. did not try their hibachi, but hibachi is hard to go wrong. disappointing.
