This isn't the greatest Chinese buffet that I have been to, but it is decent compared to the other choices that you have in Toledo. If you're a fan of Chinese American food then this is a good place to choose from if you're in the area. There is sushi, hibachi, hot soups and assorted Chinese dishes, salads and desserts to choose from. I wish there was more to choose from for sushi, but they make up for it in thier dinner foods at night. They have frog legs and crab legs at night, which were pretty decent sized compared to Happy Rose, and it was nice that when food was running low and I asked the workers for more of that food, they bring more of it in minutes rather than have you want long periods of time to do so. Not only that, but the prices here are decent for the variety they have. Would definatly go again!

Great food, sushi was wonderful. Kids loved the assortment of kid friendly food (pizza, crab legs, french fries, ice cream). Husband loved $1 miller lites. This was our first time going and we will definitely be back.

5 stars for environment! One of the nicest I have been in. The food: adequate, well-prepared, but not spicy.

Hong Kong Buffet isn't the greatest place that I've experienced, but it's not bad. Considering that I've recently moved to the Toledo area, I will probably be going back at some point in time. The price is slightly steep for the dinner buffet but it does include sushi, which wasn't that fresh. There is quite a variety in the buffet but not nearly as much as other Chinese buffets that I've been to. If you like Chinese food, and you're not picky, then this place will probably satisfy you.

This place is pretty good they have a good selection of food to choose from. They even have a hibachi grill which I had was yummy service is ok pretty much the same as any other chinese buffet restaurant. Me and hubby will be back again.

For Toledo, this is one of their best buffets. Nice atmosphere with a koi pond and a bridge. The buffet includes a hibachi grill, a sushi bar, and a large buffet. The staff was friendly and attentive. The buffet consisted af a lot of the typical foods that one would find at an ameri-Chinese restaurant including everything from chicken wings to " general tso's chicken". But all the extras including the sushi bar and hibachi makes this place truly unique in the region. With the decor, it didn't feel like the typical "feed trough" which many buffets succumb to. Plus, a wide variety which is great if you have picky children):

Big selection. The quality of the food was ok, but not great for a buffet. Lots of oil in most of it. Service was good.

Unfortunately, for the last few yrs I tend to have to spend most of my time at the hospital down the street when I come to town. Otherwise, I wouldn't even know this place existed as it is buried in a strip mall. This is one of the better Chinese buffets I have visited in my lifetime, and I have actually been to China (where buffets aren't super popular, but they keep the food coming at all times). I have tried almost every Chinese dish on that buffet and there is nothing I have disliked. It's definitely Americanized Chinese food, but it's a very good. They even make my fav Chinese snack from scratch, sesame peanuts, which I have yet to see anywhere else in America and filled my pockets with on the way out. The best part: it is absurdly cheap, something like $7/person for lunch. It literally costs more to eat at Chipotle, and they don't give you bottomless burritos. I highly recommend this place for some cheap eats if you're in the neighborhood.

I really liked Hong Kong. They have a pretty good selection, including sushi. Lunch is pretty cheap and you can get a ton for your food. The inside was clean and the staff were friendly. The food was decent, not the best Chinese food but pretty good. Definitely recommend it!

Really good lunch buffet. Great price - less than 8 bucks. Lots of seafood and steamed options. Good sushi and amazing hibachi. I was amazed that there was so much seafood and shrimp on the table. They even had steak on the grill as a choice.

Really hard to describe just how many hundreds of items on this buffet! Great selection of sushi, being made constantly, and a Mongolian style raw grill. I prefer fish, and they only had one fish- Basa sautéed in a light garlic- butter sauce, that was ok. I think I got a piece that had been on the warming tray for a while. The butter shrimp was good, as were the whole fried shrimp, the bok choyi, and the sautéed green beans. The variety was amazing, with various traditional Chinese chicken and shrimp dishes, and BBQ ribs, chicken satay, sweet/sour chicken, etc, etc. And leave room for dessert, everything from 6-7 fresh fruit selections, to various cakes, pies, jello, cookies, puddings, and eight kinds of ice cream, that you scoop yourself from the freezer bin. The peach bun, with the sweet bean curd filling, was a treat. Tea is $1 extra, as are other beverages, I think. Great deal here if you are hungry, but not sure what you want.

This is the best buffet in town. Lots of selections, always fresh & hot, delicious sushi, & hibachi. Reasonably priced. Whatever they cook the little chicken wings in is fantastic! If I lived closer, I would frequent it more often...you can get takeout by the pound.

My first impression of Hong Kong buffet the first time I went there was that it was absolutely beautiful inside. The decor is all very lovely, and eating in gives the feel of eating somewhere nicer than just a buffet. The food itself is good. Some of the food is better than others, and they don't always have some things on the buffet, which can be a bummer if you are hungry for something that was there last time but isn't this time. Overall though, I like the food a lot. They are a little but more pricey than some of the other buffets jb the area, especially for their take out buffet, but other than that, there aren't many complaints I have.

I ordered take out from here on 8/21/13 and was really impressed by the quality of food and service! My husband was impressed as well and that is saying alot, because he can be super picky with Chinese food. Usually when I order Chinese I get Hot and Sour soup and Garlic Chicken. The garlic chicken actually tasted like it had real spices in it and not some generic gravy that is put on everything in the restaurant. There were lots of flavors and different vegetables on my plate (like squash). All of it was cooked well and the portion sizes are just great. IN fact the small size was to much food for me. LOL. My husband and I will have to go back for the buffet because if the food is that good for take out, then the rest will be! The staff is friendly and the restaurant is sooooo pretty!!!!

Awesome Chinese buffet. Really busy on a tuesday night, I thought that was a good sign. Sushi is on par with Taruman, but here its 10 bucks for all you can eat. The guy preparing the sushi kept rotating trays every 5 minutes, some things stayed the same, but there was always some new creations. The interior is really clean, really bright, and service is quick. I will be back on a regular basis.

So the restaurant looks a lot nicer from the inside than it does from the outside. The bridge/koi pond is very nice. It gives the restaurant a nicer feel than a typical buffet. It's also very clean and the prices are pretty reasonable. The buffet had 2 tvs in the background as well as wi-fi. I didn't really like the set up of the food. Most of the main food was all in one line that seemed like a cafeteria line. When we went, there weren't even that many people but I had to wait behind everyone before I could get my soup, and other dishes. I can imagine that when it's busy at ie dinner time, the wait for the food will be long. As for the food selection, they seemed to have a lot of the typical dishes and everything seemed pretty fresh (ie the veggies were still fresh and crunchy rather than soggy. I'm not sure if that's because we went in for an early lunch or if that's how it always is). They seemed to have a larger lunch selection of sushi than other buffets I've been to but they seemed to be mostly a variety of philly and california rolls with a few spicy tuna rolls. But the rolls also seemed to be pretty fresh. I would like to see what they had at dinner time (I heard they have more sushi and also more dishes, ie crab legs).

My second buffet in 3 days! Went here for dinner. Yes, its in a strip mall, and theres a pond at the entrance, and its looks pretty nice and all that - then things get serious - will I get my 9.99 worth? Can I actually eat another helping? Most chinese buffets should not be confused with "Asian food". Here, if they could only tastefully cook chinese-american buffet then everything would be fine - i'd even settle for bourbon chicken. But even the chinese-american items didn't hold up. I didn't risk the sushi rolls. The hot and sour soup (which I recently learnt that in China is a soup they basically feed to the homeless from scraps) was horrid. All they need to do here is just try and make the food taste good.

When I first walked into Hong Kong, I was surprised as to how big and elegant it was. I suppose I was taken aback since I was expecting something completely different (I'm not a huge buffet fan in the first place). The foyer was elegant, the accents throughout the place were nice, and you are greeted with a warm smile. The service is quick, polite, and does what they need so you can start stuffing your face full of both Chinese and American treats. This place really has everything you could think of when it comes down to a Chinese buffet. I'm sure anything you would see in a American-Chinese restaurant is what you can get here... and more. (And more you say? Yes, and more!) The food is hot and the staff is constantly refilling empty items. I will say that the quality of the food is similar to the price. What you pay for is what you get. This place will not break the bank, and similarly, this place will not give you the best Chinese food you've ever had. The food is good, but it's not the best. You are getting value for your dollar - especially if you're hungry and you want a huge selection to choose from!

I went to the "grand opening" of this buffet this past weekend. The entrance is gorgeous, there's small bridge over a koi pond that takes you up to the cashier/hostess stand. Once you are seated and choose your beverage, I suggest exploring the buffet options before taking a plate. There are the usual Chinese buffet options such as egg rolls, crab rangoon, sweet and sour chicken and soup, but there was also "peach buns" (dumplings in the shape of a rose) and coconut buns. I did not try these but one of my dining companions tried the coconut dumpling & liked it. After the appetizer area, check out the entrees, such as garlic chicken, pepper steak, butter chicken (yummy!) and butter shrimp (also tasty!). They also have a Hibachi bar, where you pick your raw meat & veggies, add noodles if desired, then take to the grill to be cooked with your choice of sauce. The grill chef can recommend a sauce based on your meat choice & tastes. There is also a sushi bar, it looked clean & well stocked (I don't eat sushi, so I don't know how it tasted). The dessert bar is extensive, with several types of little cakes & rolls, plus 8 different kinds of ice cream. If you are looking for a good Chinese buffet option, I recommend the Hong Kong Buffet, located on Glendale Ave in the Walmart Plaza. Lunch is $6.99 Monday - Saturday, dinner is $9.99 every day. This does not include the price of your drink, pop is $1.25 with free refills.

Pleasantly surprised. Lovely entrance, friendly staff, nice selection, seemed clean. My hubby was thrilled that both the hibachi grill and crablegs were included in the buffet price (often costs extra). Dinner prices are around $10 per person and do not include the drink.. A little high, but this place is still our favorite Chinese buffet in the area.

Best Chinese Buffet in Toledo, for certain. Sadly, I was only able to visit a couple of times before moving away. But I definitely will visit when I return to Toledo. The restaurant is clean, with a neat design and a cool fish pond at the entrance. The food is fresh, hot and very tasty. This was often a problem with other Chinese buffets around town, where the food seemed like it had been sitting out for a while. Overall, affordable and very delicious! Go here if you want a variety of great foods on the cheap! However, beware the trashy and loud folks that such buffets often attract. If you can ignore that, then you'll have a wonderful dining experience.

Great buffet, offering a great variety of food. Including seafood like crab legs, shrimp, baked fish. Also includes is a Mongolian style grill and select sushi. Everything I ate was very good. My drink was always promptly refilled. I will be back when in the area.

Best Chinese buffet in Toledo Oh, the decor is newer and updated, the tables are nice and comfy, can fit a big big group. The food is clean and organised and fresh. The sushi bar is awesome, they do very good sushi! The grill bar you can customize the food the way you want and the chef will be happy to cook it for you. There is a great variety and very tasty food. The desert is also awesome. For 10 bucks! you can't beat this place, it's an all time favorite for a lot of people and there business is growing every time i go their, you see more customers, if you didn't try it, go ahead you will not regret it and it will not be your only visit!

All-you-can Chinese for $7? Yes, please! This buffet is huge with plenty of meat dishes. They don't rob you of variety here. I swear they had every type of chicken I could possibly think of with pork and beef dishes mixed in here and there. Their dessert bar was also pretty good and it was actually labeled! Most chinese buffets do not have their desserts labeled so I never know what they are! If you're in need of some good chinese food, hit this place up!

Quite simply the best Chinese buffet I've been to in Northwest Ohio. It's located in a strip mall (yes, as is everything else in Northwest Ohio) but the interior is much nicer than the typical Chinese buffets. No illuminated photos of cities or waterfalls. Full bar as well, which I don't I've ever seen at a Chinese buffet before which is pretty awesome. Getting drunk at a Chinese buffet has never occured to me, but sounds like a good time. There is a full section of sushi which was being freshly prepared. Sushi was good, not great but compared to most places it didn't come out of a container so I'm counting this as a win. The set up of the buffet isn't the best, set up one long cafeteria line. A few flashbacks to high school lunches which consisted merely of mashed potatoes. That aside, the good was well above average (I generally expect average at best for buffets). Great variety as well, I think every Chinese dish I've ever heard of was on here. Old favorites were done well. The crab Rangoon actually had some crab, General Taso was more than just a mess of sticky sauce, peanut chicken's sauce didn't come straight out of a box. Service was fine, drinks came in actual glasses rather than plastic ones which again helped remind me I wasn't dining on a high school cafeteria line which can be the case at usual buffets. Overall Hong Kong Buffet was a pleasant surprise. Toledo is not blessed with many good Chinese restaurants, however there are certainly plenty of generic China buffets (I swear they all have the same art on the walls). Thankfully Hong Kong doesn't fit that mold.

So I finally decided to brave the ghetto and check out Hong Kong Buffet. (Okay, so it isn't exactly the ghetto, but being from the country, it seems at least a bit shady in that area. I felt like I was on an adventure.) In any case, I'm glad that I did, because HKB is certainly one of the best Asian buffets in the area. All the standard fare that you'd expect is there, and it is all done better than average. The soups are hot and tasty, the teriyaki chicken was cooked perfectly, and I really enjoyed the black pepper chicken. The General Tso's Chicken was too sweet for me, but you get that at some places. Another highlight were the chicken wings which were awesome. I'm not a fan of wings at a lot of Chinese places because the have a weird flavor and a yellowish color (perhaps from tumeric?) which I don't like. Here they were standard wings that I really enjoyed. You can also find a nice hibachi grill if you prefer your food cooked to order. The sushi was made fresh at the bar, and I thought it was all pretty good. Don't expect anything too wild, but you can get your California Roll or Philly Roll fix here if you're craving that. (Enough wasabi and it all tastes the same anyway. Amiright?) Don't let the spartan exterior fool you, the interior of this place is just beautiful. The wait staff was great as well; they were prompt with plate clean-up and preemptive with drink refills. For me, HKB compares well with Happy Rose on Airport Highway, but HKB is just a bit nicer all around (food, atmosphere, service). The one thing that HKB lacks and I sorely missed that Happy Rose does have is the noodle soup. At Happy Rose the hibachi doubles as a noodle soup bar as well, and they will either make a stir-fry or noodle soup out of your ingredients. The only other quibble is that the buffet layout is poor, forcing you to wait in lines more often that you should have to. But the positives far outweigh these minor inconveniences. All in all, you can't go wrong here. Good food at a decent price.

Went there last night, they have changed their offering on the crab legs. Saw a lady got into an argument with the owner about the crab legs. The lady complained about they should offer unlimited crab legs since it's a buffet. They now only let you take a limited on the crab legs, and the two hours I was there, they only had one round of that. My families really likes the crab legs, too bad they have limits on that now. We have to go to Happy Rose for that then. If you wants to eat more if the crab legs, don't go here. Otherwise, their food are alright, service is kind of slow.

Came here with the fam for lunch on a Saturday and had a decent meal. They have all the typical buffet offerings, plus make-to-order Hibachi and a sushi section. The actual buffet food wasn't terribly impressive and I struggled to find things I would eat again the second go-around. I did enjoy the egg-drop soup, vermicelli noodles, and spicy shrimp dish. The sushi was actually quite decent and much better than other buffet sushi in my opinion; they had maybe about 10 types of rolls, including fresh salmon and tuna rolls. The Hibachi grill also offered additional options (steak, beef, shrimp, + veggies) and was pretty tasty (would recommend the garlic sauce + house sauce!). They also have a ton of desserts available for those with a sweet tooth, including 8 flavors of ice cream lol. Overall, at $7.50/person for lunch, I can't really complain if some of the food wasn't great. There were definitely enough options to keep me happy! Also, apparently they offer lobster for special occasions (Mother's Day, Father's Day, etc), so keep an eye out!

Every time I fly into Toledo I have to visit Hong Kong Buffet. The food is excellent and the service friendly. The stir fry is my favorite, but everything is really good. And while it can get busy at times, there is always an open table.

Just your typical chinese buffet. Food was just OK, but nothing to brag about. A little more selection than most. The biggest plus was, it was cleaner than your average Chinese restuarant.

We go there about once a month. Last visit food was warm/cold. Going to try a new place to see if it may be better for this place seems to be losing their touch. Price went up but quality went down.

Decided to try this place for lunch after church today. Sunday lunch is actually "dinner" so the price was $10.50 for my wife and I and $4.95 for our daughter (4). the place is very clean and stylish. Buffet is about 100 feet long for hot foods and dim sum. About 30 feet of salad and dessert. A very decent tepenyaki-style grill with great fresh veg and Shrimp, Pork, Chicken and slices of Strip Steak. There was also a respectable sushi area. Saw a chef making it off to the side and I had Very good California Rolls, Crab JB Roll, Veggie Roll and some VERY fresh Tuna Nigiri. They had three other fish in Nigiri form as well. Nice. Cold. Crisp. Tender. All things you want in Sushi. The only negative is that the soy sauce was REALLY salty. I would have liked the low sodium variety. They had terrific pan fried dumplings. Fried a little more than normal, but the filling was awesome. The Shao Mei were great. A steamed dumpling with pork filling was well seasoned and with a paper thin tender wrapper. Crab Rangoon was creamy and not overly flavored of scallion. They had an excellent Steamed Peach Bun and something I have never had before... a coconut dumpling. This was shaped like a small steamed dumpling but it was almost gelatinous and had a creamy coconut custard inside and a smattering of coconut outside. i filled up on this stuff and the only thing I had besides was a crispy eggroll and some really good green beans. I guess I need to wait until the next visit to try the entrees. Yes, there will be a next time. I was impressed and the food all looked fresh and inviting.

If i have to put this buffet in comparison to the ones i have had in the past, it'll probably get a 1 start. However, putting it in the standard of toledo, it is at least a 3 star if not 4. It is one of the better buffets in Toledo, affordable, a wide variety of choices (but all americanized chinese food). I would dine here when i'm craving for some chinese food.

  • The E.

Very good as buffets go..you won't be sorry. There is a good variety of food. The sushi is pretty good. I wouldn't call it the best, but it is fresh and delicious. The stir-fry station is excellent with a very nice raw bar for you to assemble for a very tasty meal, and is actually manned by the owner or co-owner himself, I came to learn. The bathrooms were spotless and the rest of the restaurant overall is clean. When the staff isn't busy bussing tables or refilling drinks they can be seen cleaning every square inch of the place. There is free wifi. They welcome you to relax and enjoy your meal. I have never felt pressured to leave or that I have worn out my welcome. I wouldn't advise going there in the last hour as the trays at that point stop rotating and do tend to get a little bit dry. The beer specials are very reasonable. If you want to just go in for the bar alone, you can do that without incurring the flat rate buffet fee which varies by time of day. This is probably my favorite buffet in the entire Toledo area (and Toledo has several). Give it a try. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

A group of us visited for the first time at 12:30 on a Monday and although the variety is AWESOME, all of the food our party of seven choose was lukewarm to cold (!)...boo. It was puzzling, as we could see steam rising from the food bars (and some items had just been placed in the food warmers) but I'm guessing the food warmers need adjusting. A LOT of adjusting! The sushi is tastefully arranged (as in a higher priced restaurant), and I was *really* looking forward to biting into these beauties...only to discover the rice was dry, (s if the sushi had been sitting out awhile). *sigh* By this time we were getting full but without the lingering-in-your-mouth-asian-food-fix satisfaction...similar to sitting on a raft in the ocean -- "water water everywhere, and not a drop to drink" :(. There weren't many people during the time we were there, so maybe (?) things taste hotter and fresher when there's a crowd requiring quicker replacing of food items (and sushi). The downside of a crowd would be the "waiting for your turn in the cafeteria line" possibility. But if the wait seems long, so is this particular food bar -- you definitely get your money's worth! Thermostat on the wall registered 69 degrees (the air was chilly where we sat on the perimeter)...kinda matched our chilly insides :D. Nice atmosphere, waitress was very attentive filling our glasses, clean bathrooms, clean atmosphere but...our group voted taste (hot food) beats aesthetics...if the owner posts that they've raised the temperature of their warmers, we'd love to come back for a complete sensory experience! :)

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
