Have you ever wondered what it would be like to dine in a Chinese Restaurant in 1963? Stop by the Golden Dragon and you might get that experience. There are so many points to bring to the table, that it is much easier to create positive and negative lists. Pros: 1) The price was reasonable. 2) The staff was friendly. 3) The sweet and sour pork was unique, seeing as the breading incorporated cinnamon or nutmeg and the sauce was a flavorful brown gravy. Cons: 1) Outdated décor with wooden brown paneling and red booths. 2) The staff was young and inexperienced. 3) The wonton soup was bland, didn't contain any green onions and the meat inside the wonton itself was the size of a dime. I have had better flavored soup in old folks homes. 4) The pineapple in the sweet & sour pork was nearly white, indicating that it was cheap and came out of a can. 5) I could here the beep of a microwave on several occasions. DO NOT MICROWAVE MY FOOD! 6) I counted 4 pieces of vegetables in my entrée, (unless you count the dill pickles that they used). 7) The tea smelled and tasted of a chemical. From the excess bubbles in m cup and in the pot, I would conclude that someone was careless and did not rinse the teapot thoroughly. 8) The men's restroom was absolutely filthy and outdated. 9) The large table in the other part of the dining room was filled with junk. 10) The lobby and door entry way hasn't seen a vacuum in weeks if not months. Enough said, these are facts.

Underrated Chinese restaurant in Toledo. The almond boneless chicken is excellent and the sweet and sour sauce is homemade and very unique. The signature dish, the golden dragon is delicious as well. Similar to a General Tso chicken except the breading is extra crunchy and has a tangy and spicy kick to it. If you want something a little different, try the Chinese pork chop, the seasoning and flavored are excellent.

We live down the street from Golden Dragon and get take-out regularly. I love the almond boneless chicken from here - best in the area. When you do eat in, the staff is very friendly. My only complaint is when you order takeout, you are charged extra for the soup which is included in the meal if you eat in. Other than that, love the place!

I have been getting carry out from this place for years. I always order my fried rice without the vegetables. When I called to order today I was told that in order to get my rice with no vegetables it would cost me an extra dollar! They explained this by saying that the rice is already made with vegetables in it and in order to make it without they'd have to make my order fresh. The money is not the issue here, it's the fact that I'm bring made to pay extra if I request my food be made fresh and the way I like it. I'm treated better than that at a drive thru! I will be finding a new place to get my Chinese food!

This place has been around for I don't know how many years. The old chrome tables and chairs probably date back to the 50's. The food is great. Large selection as is the case in most Chinese Restaurant's. Good, fast service at a very reasonable price. The carry out portions are huge!!!

Have been to Golden Dragon once but plan on returning! The restaurant is easy to miss as it is located in a mostly vacant strip mall. It seems a lot of people complain of the decor, yes it is older but more importantly it is clean! The restaurant appears very dark inside due to the lack of light bouncing off the dark wooden panels. My eyes adjusted soon enough. The bathrooms get 4.5 stars as well. Cleaner and more updated than I expected! As for the food, I can only speak for the authentic dishes which were delicious! Service is fast and polite. I have only dined in so not sure about carry out. I happened to be there when the restaurant was getting their health department report and overheard that they did very well which was comforting. Overall a good experience and my top choice for Chinese food in the Toledo area. Half a star off for the restaurants limited natural light. I'll be back!

Amazed that there is this quality of Chinese food in the Toledo area! I've eaten in most of the Chinese restaurants in the Boston area, it's definitely compares with the best! Don't let the outside fool you, it looks abandoned, but inside is clean and service is great. The Taiwanese popcorn chicken is to die for, better than Jojo Taipei, and other places in Boston. They have this combo salt and pepper fried seafood dish that's amazing too, definitely try it out. For those of you interested in more authentic foods, start your meal out with the pickled Chinese cabbage pig tripe soup, this place does a lot with pig tripe in general, I tried out the sizzling plate pig intestine and it was fantastic.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
