High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for High Cholesterol

Cut down on your meat intake to control your high cholesterol. You must skip Double Meat Whataburger and Triple Meat Whataburger at all costs. You should also avoid Avocado Bacon Burger and Monterey Melt as both these burgers contain a high amount of fat. Sweat & Spicy Bacon Burger will add extra 1080 calories in your diet so skip that as well. Whatacatch Dinner may sound tempting but the famous fish sandwich is also full of calories and unhealthy fat. Lastly, avoid French Fries and Onion Rings at Whataburger if you are already ordering a burger or any other heavy meal.

Let me just say that I have been here twice already and cannot wait to go back a third time! Each time I have visited I have become more and more impressed. I ordered the Musty Have on the first occasion and it was absolutely fabulous. The second occasion I ordered The Wet One with the au jus on the side, and it was sheer perfection. The fries are tasty, and the onion petals were plentiful amounts of fried goodness. Beer selection is killer, and the wait staff is uber friendly and go out of their way to assure that you are happy and comfortable. The decor is also super awesome, a very hip use of both earth tones and stainless steel. I highly recommend you checking this place out. Best new burger place in town!

Are you kidding me? Five guys blows these burgers away at half the price. Bland food. The bone marrow was tops though.

This place has become our favorite for burgers. I've tried something different every time and have been rarely disappointed. The Italian, Mother and Child, Cheese Pig and Musty Have are all excellent. I tried the Pate Melt but that combination of ingredients just didn't do it for me. The sandwiches are huge and it's a challenge to finish when they also give you a sizable amount of fries. They've layed out the restaurant as best as they could given the architectural challenges of the space itself. The local art adorning the walls is intriguing but a bit overpriced for a place that has great prices on its food. Staff is nice and frequently check if you need anything. My only complaint is the inconsistency of the burger itself as it can be overcooked from what's been ordered. Give this place a try; you and your wallet won't be disappointed!

The most amazing burgers I've ever had..and love the extended menu for vegetarians..love working here and divulging in the tasty cuisine

This place is trendy which isn't really my style but with all of my friends raving about it I had to check it out. The burger was very good, but the onion petals...OH EM GEE wonderful! My only complaint about the food would be that the BBQ sauce for the burger was just plain odd... not bad and not good either. Not a big deal though.

Burger Bar 419 gets five stars simply because they know burgers. It's trendy now for everyone from celebrity chefs to fast food joints to attempt gourmet burgers, and no one -- not Bobby Flay and not Bagger Dave's -- does burgers better than this place. Don't let the strip mall location fool you, BB419 will blow your mind with the freshest ground beef you've ever tasted, a rare assortment of craft beers and shakes and desserts that you must try no matter how full you are. Folks who have never imagined a burger not slathered with mayo and ketchup will not easily appreciate a place that emphasizes enjoying the meat itself. The dining room is small but not cramped and the decor is perfect. This place is a treasure.

Unless the service improves Burger Bar will not survive. I retrived my own beer from the bar that had been siting there for who knows how long, no silverware or napkin when food came - we had to ask for it, never got the blue cheese sauce we ordered, one milkshake came halfway through the meal and only after we asked for it for the second time did she notice it was sitting at the bar. Place was busy but not swamped. Adequate numbers of workers but poorly coordinated. At times they were running about like chickens with their heads cut off. Need better teamwork. Food is worth coming back for as there are many unique burgers to choose. Forget the granny slaw - stick with the fries or onion petals for your side. Having a bottle of cleaning solution with a rag on top of it sitting at the hostess stand is a poor first impression. Further that same bottle and the same rag was also sighted on an empty table in the dining room while we're were dining.

Burger Bar 419 is amazing! I just tried it for the first time today and it changed my life... Okay maybe that was extreme but the customer service was awesome and so was the food! I got the idea to go from two of my coworkers who absolutely love it too. I picked up my chicken sandwich and fries and noticed when I got back to work that the order was not right. I didn't have time to go back but I was frustrated I paid 9 dollars for a chicken burger and it wasn't what I wanted. Coworkers convinced me to call and tell them they got my order wrong. When I called they said they would refund my money and I could pick up the correct sandwich. I thanked them and said I was on lunch at work and didn't have time. About five minutes later the owner called and asked where I work and insisted on delivering me the correct burger! I refused but was so impressed with the service! Needless to say even after I said I was okay about 10 minutes later I had another chicken sandwich! It was so awesome. And it gave my coworkers the chance to try the food! One of the girls on a diet tried it and said it would be her next "cheat" meal. Haha

Best Burger in Toledo. Great beers.

Great beer. Great food. The service has been hit or miss, but I guess that's just part of the restaurant experience. I've never had a bad meal here. It can be a bit pricey when you start ordering craft beers, but that should be expected.

Food was good but not spectacular. Kitchen got my order wrong ( omit a couple of things from a sandwich due to allergy). A replacement came out fast enough but didn't look as good or as complete as the original.

Major gnat problem when I was there. It was hard to enjoy the food and beer when I had to cover everything with a napkin. I would have just left had I noticed it before I ordered, but when the beer was served, they swarmed. Gross!

There are two deductions for me the price and the sides that come with the burger, otherwise they provide a very innovative take on burgers. These chef's are the real deal, I had the short rib topped hand burger, the buffalo burger with bacon, and the gruyere cheese burger with horseradish, my fav. was the last one but all were great and cooked to perfection. My wife ordered the cheese pig sandwich which is loaded with three kinds of cheese, ground pork, pork belly, and bacon very yummy. My son had the green chile ham bacon mac and cheese this is good as well. My problem with the pricing is every burger option is ten dollars. I think they should offer a burger a la carte options if people do not want the sides. The fries are ok, the onion pedals are very good and their hot kimchee is surprisingly good, but I do not like their slaw options, but to be fair to them I hate cole slaw so if you enjoy cole slaw you may like some of their sides. Overall this place is great, I have not tried their milkshakes but they look very inventive and different, these guys are not afraid to break from the norm and I appreciate that!

Tried this for the first time. If you want a good family place to go, with good prices, I would certainly recommend it. If you want a good burger, not sure I would recommend. The burgers are large, but very little flavor. It also took forever to get our food. We waited well over a 1/2 hour, for just 3 basic burgers. Staff was extremely friendly. Too many other places have much better burgers, thus not sure I will return.

Outstanding food! The hostess, Alden, is extremely nice and the seating location she picked was perfect. Our server, Jen C was very helpful. The food was awesome! Fries were great! Recommend the Poppers and the Atomic Dog (not recommended for the weak). I will definitely be back!

Kind of a more upscale but not overly priced burger joint. They have pretty good onion petals that you can sub for fries, & their burgers are all amazing. I recently found out I'm gluten free, so unfortunately I can't have anything in their fryers or the buns or beer, but they really try hard to get options that are not great but actually AWESOME. The burger I had was on an amazing GF bun, & the apple slaw was a surprising treat. The actual taste of the burger was perfectly seasoned & cooked, and the odd / atypical toppings added nicely to the final flavor. If you like beer (another something I can't have anymore!) they have a lot of not the usual Bud Light, Miller Lite, etc on tap. They still have bottles, but if you're interested in craft beers this is a good place to go. My only issues are with this location - the one on Heatherdowns feels and is very cramped & not set up well (kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant/behind the bar). The one on Monroe street has a TON of space and ambiance is amazing. My other issue/request is to get a sorghum beer. I miss some things being gluten free, and unfortunately beer is one of them!

What a great find for me the other day while searching for a unique burger...Great fries, onion petals and burger...wow....a half pound, big enough to split. The bartender was friendly and even opened her iPad to help me find my way to Detroit after my lunch. Great food, service and price (less than $7.00 for lunch)!!

First off, a big thank you to Winny, one of the best bartenders I've ever had. She didn't flinch when we ordered the better part of the app menu. She was a total sweetheart and the service here was great all around! My Dad suggested this place and I had it on good authority from Joe V. that it was worth stopping into. I thought we'd maybe order a burger and a drink and mosey, but knowing my pops I should've known better. He'd been raving about this Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale from Alltec brewing that he had on his first go around at 419....if you haven't tried it, I'd recommend buying stock in the company! We started with a couple of those - pretty killer and deadly strong stuff at 9.5%! He looks at the menu and decides to order for the two of us...for starters mind you: the Cheddar-Bacon Mac n' Cheese with the grilled jalapenos, the Teleggio and Bacon Hand Cut Fries, their Hand Cut Chips with bleu cheese sauce, the Roasted Marrow Bones, the Spicy Chicken Pops, and the Pork Belly with Kimchi. It was all pretty orgasmic. My favs were: -the Spicy Chicken Pops - phenomenal with the cucumber sauce - A+, tender and spicy and they french the bones so you have a nice clean handle to nosh with. -the mac n' cheese was well made with a creamy cheesy balance going on, and with the grilled jalapenos and bacon you can't go wrong. -The marrow bones with roasted garlic on toast points and onion jam, pretty stellar stuff and cooked properly. As if that wasn't enough we ordered some burgers too. I had the Classic to get an actual taste of the meat and their produce. The bun, kind of brioche like and a little thick but quality. The produce was fresh and bright-thank you for the attention to detail in this department, it speaks volumes about 419!! The meat patty was thick and juicy and cooked to my request. I only wish they had seasoned more aggressively with salt and pepper to accentuate the flavor of the meat more, but a really great burger regardless! Lastly, don't forget the Hellfire Ketchup made in- house it's the jam! The ticket for our feast was reasonable and on par for what we ordered. My only gripe was in regards to the Crispy Pork Belly. I've had a fair amount of really great pork belly - it's basically uncured and unsmoked bacon and usually in a slab format rather than thick sliced like actual bacon. 419 serves it in 3 thick cut strips with kimchi laid over. The strips we had were the size of a 1/2 slice of bacon so the 3 of them were equivalent to 1 1/2 slices of bacon. It wasn't very crispy partially due to the kimchi, although I really liked the flavors. At $8 though, it's nowhere near worth the money - this dish needs some attention. If you're going to do pork belly it's gotta be done right and if you keep your current dish I'd suggest dropping the price a fair amount. Just my two cents, take it or leave it.

I honestly was really surprised by this place. Nothing is really average about this place. You can choose from a wide array of drinks ranging from crafty beers, avocado milkshakes, and adult floats. The burgers come from rare to dead. They have none typical options as well and if you have that one vegan friend, you are covered. Your sides are good too, from to order seasoned fries, to Granny Smith cole slaw. Even the appetizers are interesting, such that soy soaked deviled eggs and toasted bread topped with creamy cheese and pickled pine apple. The music is good and the service is good. Really for burgers it's as good as it gets.

The onion petals are amazing as is the mac and cheese. Burgers are pretty good with a nice variety of flavor combinations.

My wife and I have visited Burger Bar 419 twice now and enjoy the food and atmosphere. The menu is unique, particularly for a place like Toledo. The decor is pleasant and the staff appear to work very hard at being "hip" in the same manner that you see countless culinary professionals on the Food Network being "hip" (you know, that colorfully dyed hair and tats that says I want to be a rock star). At the end of the day, this is a pretty cool place to grab a bite with excellent service. I have had The Vintage Blue on both visits, which includes melted blue cheese & vintage port wine reduction with pickled red onions. The first time it was juicy and so delicious, I had to have it again on the next visit. However, the second time around, this burger was a little dry - thus, I gave BB419 four stars rather than five. The sides come in huge portions and are as delicious as the burgers. I favor the classics: Hand Cut Fries and Batter Fried Onion Petals. And, as an added bonus, there is a variety of dipping sauces to choose from... I won't list them here, but you should check them out on the BB419 website. I have had several and they're all fantastic. One last note: this place offers a great variety of appetizers, burgers, and sides and, although I have only sampled the more traditional items, I will be back to take a stab at many of the other choices.

I really wanted to like this place. Ordered the American with cheese and fries and a milkshake. They didn't have ice cream. Almost a show stopper. I decided to get the food to go and get a shake somewhere else. When eating, the pickle was poor (two ends and a small piece) and the burger was over cooked. The fries were good. I really hate it when togo food is served poorly. I really have no one to say anything to but Yelp.

This is a 3+ stars. Had dinner last night during restaurant week. Seated promptly but the a manager was clearly overwhelmed by the size of the crowd at 5:15 on a sat night. Order was taken promptly, took awhile to get apps but they were excellent. We tried pickled veggies, bacon Mac and cheese and the hummus plate. Veggies were excellent, bacon Mac and cheese was too smokey for my wife but I enjoyed it and the hummus was just plain bland. We agreed it needed more lemon and garlic. Took a long time to get dinner but the American burger was very good, not as good as the burgers at Michael Simons B Spot. Wife had BBBLT which was excellent. I would get the BBBLT sandwich the next time. I think they were swamped so that is why the service was slow but I would think they would have planned for that. One item of note is the set up of the restaurant. We sat on the far side and the server had to walk through the entry way navigating all the people waiting for tables with our food. My wife and I both commented that this was not a good structure.

Very tasty burgers, in an eclectic atmosphere. Tries a little too hard to be different, and not really friendly for small children, despite the kid's menu. Worth a try though.

I loved it... Service was solid. Enjoyed being here on a weekday at lunch. I don't know how I would've felt if it were crowded, but we enjoyed midweek lunchtime. There is some interesting art from local artists decorating the walls, which I thought was pretty cool. Overall, I'd give the atmosphere a solid A-. Pork Belly Appetizer - A+ The kimchi salad or whatever comes with it, had a pretty good kick to it. The Bloody Mary - A+ (it's spicy though, so be forewarned). I've had a few Bloody Marys in my day and this one was one of the best. Three Little Pigs "burger" - A- I agree with a previous poster that it could have had more seasoning IN the actual burger. That being said, it was absolutely delicious and if you use their "bleu cheese" dipping sauce it really adds something. (I hesitate to call it bleu cheese because I am a bit skeptical if it is bleu cheese at all. It tastes like something from heaven. And bleu cheese is not from heaven.) Or you could use their ranch, which was also good. The "burger" does need a little something extra, but it was amazing. I'm using quotes with "burger" because the Three Little Pigs is not beef. The Onion Petals. Don't get me started on the onion petals. I had never heard of an onion petal before, but I'm pretty sure they are coated in Angel Wing dust and then deep-fried to perfection. We left full and happy and thought about going back for dinner the same day.

Food was great - service was only so so. Even though we ordered the apps separately from entrees, the entree right after one app and the other app came after the entree. I had the Atomic Dog which is a bacon-wrapped hot dog with everything hot you can think of on top...good, but HOT!

Now this place has some damn good burgers! Always a sucker for a restaurant that makes their own Veggie Burgers I knew I had to stop here on my way to Ann Arbour. Unfortunatly it was only lunch and we didn't want to travel too full so we got only burgers, even though the menu had plenty of other things I would have loved to try. I had the Beans & Grains withBlack beans, lentils, rice, quionois, cumin, scallion, paprika, bibb lettuce, and onion pedals. Huge, made in house and thugh a bit mushy (i'm thinking due to its thickness) it was good and with all of their great housemade sauces, tasty and filling. My man had The Heater withRomaine lettuce, tomato, onion, pepper jack cheese, green chilis, grilled jalapenos, and serranos. Also a very very good burger. Being a sauce and dipping fanatic I was excited to hear the make all their own condiments. Ketchup House, Hell Fire, Spicy Berry Mustards Spicy, Spicy Brown, Dijon, Whole Grain, Hot German, and Bistro. Mayo Anchovy-Caper, Basil, Chipotle, Curry, Garlic, Good Stuff, Mango, Tarragon, Tapenade We tried all the ketchups and mustards and each was truely unique and god in its own way. The berry ketchup I had with a roll for dessert, it taked like straght jam but one of the best ever. Great meal with local products, nice staff and good location!

I had a hard time coming up with a 'star count' for this place. There were mistakes on our order, but what I got to eat of it was good. At first we were seated in the dining room and it was very bright in there with the pendant lamp over our table giving the feel of being in a spotlight. We asked to move into the bar and was glad we did. Our waitress was extremely nice. Extremely Started with the hand cut chips which were not great, they tasted kind of burnt actually. I was drinking vodka soda and one round was given vodka tonic accidentally. The waitress was so honest about the mistake it was refreshing.' Yup, that's tonic all right, my bad. sorry' I ordered my burger with brie, bacon and mushrooms. The burger came a little skimpy on both the mushrooms and the bacon and with the wrong cheese. I told the waitress who said she would have them remake it for me. I said I would be fine with them scraping off the cheese and putting the right one on, but she insisted. Mine had been ordered med-rare which looked perfect. Other than the wrong cheese the burger itself was really good. They brought me the replacement burger and one of my dining companions took my old burger as her burger was overcooked. Unfortunately my replacement burger was overcooked. It was closer to well done. I dont do well done. Ever. Felt bad as the waitress was SO nice. I didnt want to wait for yet another burger so i just didnt eat. For whatever reason when she heard my accent and knew i was from NY she felt even worse - lol! You would think that a place specializing in burgers would be more accurate in their temps. Their accuracy at our table was 50/50! My friend said the last time she was there it was the same thing for them, they got the temps correct on only half the burgers! Disappointing.

This place is my new favorite burger place! The inside of the restaurant is definitely different than what I expected. It reminded me of a museum with pieces of art on the wall and the crown molding was a nice touch to the decor. For the appetizer, we got the siracha-soy deviled eggs. They were pretty interesting but was way too much for the 2 of us to eat! (6 pieces which was too much egg for me in one sitting). This was probably my least favorite thing that we ordered. We ordered the Crunchy Buffalo burger and a new burger on their special menu called the Funky Boy (I think that was the name). The Funky Boy was a turkey burger with wasabi, kimchi and I think blue cheese dressing? It sounded like an interesting mixture and I was feeling adventurous so I decided to try it. The burger was pretty tasty although I couldn't taste the wasabi or kimchi. I expected the burger to be spicier than it was but it seemed to have more blue cheese than the other 2 ingredients. Still pretty delicious. The Crunchy Buffalo was my favorite of the 2 burgers. I'm usually not a big fan of blue cheese but the combo of hot sauce & blue cheese was so tasty on the Crunchy Buffalo! The burgers came with one side each so we tried the Sweet and Tangy Slaw and the Hot Kimchi. The descriptions of the sides are pretty accurate. The coleslaw was just how I like it- sweet and tangy! Probably some of the best coleslaw I've had! And although the hot kimchi isn't exactly like authentic Kimchi, it was pretty good and they aren't kidding when they say HOT kimchi. It's pretty spicy which I liked since Kimchi usually is. The great part about this place is that you can substitute each burger for a chicken burger for no extra cost. As someone mentioned in their review, you DO come out smelling like food so I'm not sure if this is a great place to go to before a show across the street. But this place is definitely a great place for a burger!

If it would let me give a zero I would. They do not honor their prices on their menu. Server said they were new menus. Not my problem of the prices are wrong fix them and honor the prices on the menu until then. This is actually illegal and I also will be filing a report with the BBB as well.

With Burger Bar, you get the quantity. Nobody finishes their french fries/onion rings; they just give you too much. That's not the bad thing. If it was good..... then you probably could finish it. The fries don't have the right amount of salt and I might even argue they don't have any salt on them. It's just like eating ketchup and potatoes. The good news is... that you have a lot. The bad news is... lots of french fries and/or onion rings are bad for you. Also, they kind of remind me of homemade fries and I'm not talking about the really good ones most people have had before. They are like the ones an average person would be capable of making: just oil and potatoes. The burger itself isn't that good. I've been here a couple of times with friends and some of them rave about it. Others agree with me that there isn't anything special to be said about the burger. It's kind of bland and tastes like a burger patty you can buy from the grocery store. It just happens to be topped with some other things too making it unique. I got the 'Short Stuff' which had braised short ribs and sautéed onions on it. The burger was an appropriate size and the onions really carried the flavor of the burger making it an acceptable average $10 burger. It's just not enough to justify NOT trying to find a better place. I think if they fix the patty on the burger instead of offering so many variations, they could make a a fan out of me. Also... my burger was kind of lukewarm when it was brought out to me and the bun was cold. Granny's Apple Slaw wasn't good at all (1 star)

The burgers are great, but you have to try the BBBLT! Or just anything with their bacon! Such creativity in the entire menu, both food & drinks. The kimchi is H. O. T & delicious.

We stopped at burger bar on our way back home to Chicago from a road trip to DC. We ordered the Heater and American burger. They were awesome! Great quality burgers & the fries were hand cut. Although they forgot to add avocados to our order (as requested), all tasted fresh & delicious so would def. recommend!

Food wasn't bad, but the check was the most deceptive one that I have ever come across. Took a manager to explain it. Maybe don't go during happy hour and you'll be alright. I will never be back and do not recommend it to any of my friends for this reason.

The food here is pretty good, probably the best veggie burger in Toledo. The service unfortunately is lackluster. On my 4 trips here I have had the waitresses rush me from ordering right away and bringing me the check without even asking if my table wanted anything else. A few times I've tried to come here but they are closed--they tend to close early on slow nights. Even if you make it there in time for their relatively early closing, the waitresses will rush you. WHat could be an awesome experience is only lukewarm as a result.

First off -- and yes, this is directed at a negative commenter below -- if you order a burger called the Pate Melt and don't realize that it might have PATE on it, then this isn't the spot for you. I've run through a few of Burger Bar's burgers, and I've been pleasantly surprised with each. I'm the type of person that sticks to one thing at most places, but I've tried the Buffalo, the Italian, the Pate Melt (which, surprise, contains PATE!), and the 3-Little Pigs. Are the burgers mind-blowingly delicious? Probably not. Are they amazing compared to the other burger fare in Toledo? ABSOLUTELY. Is the staff amazingly hot and helpful? Usually. I commend any business that is willing to take steps to advance Toledo's culinary landscape. Everyone can find faults, but the simple fact is that this place produces great food and is rooted in the community. The prices are fair and the portions are adequate. My one complaint? Stop being so stingy with the flavored ketchups. Maybe reduce the variety and have a sampling of each for every diner to try. Otherwise, keep up the good work and thank you for labeling your burgers appropriately, as I know that a PATE MELT will have PATE!

Not that impressed, really. Potential is there, but execution failed bad. I had the 3 little pigs, but the bacon on it seemed more like beef jerky than bacon it was so over done, almost like it was yesterday's bacon reheated. Pork was dried out, but at least the slaw on it was good as we're the fries.

Delicious! Had the Pate Burger, and a couple beers. Decent beer selection, and an amazing food menu. If you are in the mood for slightly upscale bar food, with a twist, this place is perfect.

Where do I start? In Toledo for a Joe Bonamassa concert, never figured would find service and food this good in a strip mall. We started out with the bacon fried spiced almonds, killer little fat bombs of flavor, a real treat. Our waitress formerly from Norwalk was just super, a sweet blend of friendliness and service. (And she likes the blues.) She suggested the pork belly/avocado/sweet red onion special burger, and was not disappointed, just a great burger, one of the top five I have ever had. The spiced pork belly was a real treat too. My son had the slamon Salmon, and while a bit dry, the flavor mix was very good. The onion petals with dip as my side were awesome and plenty to chow on. The fresh cut fries were great too. All around was just great! If you are in or live in Toledo, and haven't been to 419, you are missing a treat.

This place has a clue. Great food, drink, atmosphere and staff. Have tried a few different burgers and they are all good. But I am an appetizer and drink person more than an entrée-having-roll me out the door so I can take a nap person. I love the sriracha eggs, goat cheese and pineapple crostini, onion petals, etc. All of the appetizers are great. Drink prices are reasonable and the bartenders know how to pour one. Every single server I have had here has been spot on, even when things get a little cray and martini glasses start rolling around outside (our fault, not hers). The patio is dinky, but they didn't have much to work with. I spend a lot of time at the one on Monroe when I am hitting a patio, but the vibe there hasn't caught up with the original one yet. Still, both are great places.

Food was awesome. While I was a little embarrassed to ask the waitress to "cluck it" when I decided that I wanted a chicken burger instead of beef, I sucked it up for the fun. I had the buffalo burger (clucked it). It was excellent. I just went with fries as my side and managed to eat all of both, and for a small girl, that is no small feat! I was with three others at the restaurant, who all also enjoyed their meals and beverages. I was drinking Rivertown's Blueberry lager, which is a favorite of mine from my hometown (Cincinnati) so I was extra excited to see it on the menu! We also shared the roasted/spiced nuts as an appetizer and the flavor was awesome. Our server was great, understood the kind of personalities that were at the table, and fit right in with our group. No one ever had an empty beer or glass of water. If you are in the Toledo area, looking for a new place to try, GO HERE!

Terrible food, no idea why the review rating Is so high, the onion rings are no rings, they are blob of fried batter. Our order came in 40 mins and the restaurant was not even fully packed. The crostini appetizer was indelible, must be the goat cheese which smelled like a real goat. The two things in enjoyed: milk shakes and the hospitality of waitress..

I visited the Burger Bar last night for the second time and was impressed again. If you are a child of the 90's like me you will love the rockin' music, the appetizers with their nice plate presentations, and the awesome burgers. To start we ordered the soy sauce devilled eggs, as well as the pork bellies. These may be a bit adventures for some by the sound of them, but they really are great...and unique finds for the Toledo area. The eggs aren't too big and I don't think there is a mayonnaise taste to them at all. That's probably why I like them so much. There is a spicy red sauce drizzled around the eggs if you want an extra kick. The pork bellies are hot with a cold "slaw" of greens on top. Very good. The fat pockets pop in your mouth so this one is probably not for the prissy chicks out there. Then the burgers came with a pile of steak fries. Add salt, vinegar, and ask the server to bring their specialty ketchups. The Hell Fire is my favorite, but the sweeter, almost jam-like, fruit-based ketchup is good too. I've tried two burgers now. The Wet One that has a French Dip theme to it, and the Buffalo Crispy Burger (can't remember if that's the actual name) that has a Buffalo Wing theme- blue cheese, spicy buffalo sauce, etc. I think these are the best burgers in town, and I'm glad the Burger Bar is situated in the South End as that "end" needs as much help from local businesses as any. I would describe the burger meat as loose and juicy. Don't have these beauties over cooked. Get them medium! I'd say the crowd is dressed to impress. However, if you wear your favorite jeans and best "goin' out" shirt YOU WILL SMELL LIKE A BURGER. You know that greasy food smell that overtakes the freshness of a room. Because the place is small this will happen. This would be my only teeny tiny complaint because if you want to go someplace else after your visit to the Burger Bar, you will be the ones with the food stinks. More ventilation? So, the Burger Bar is a great Toledo restaurant, and I hope it keeps its quality and its reasonable pricing. You cannot go in to this place worried about calories, so just indulge in the loose and juicy goodness.

We arrived for our first ever meal at Burger Bar 419 tonight after hearing tons of great things about the place. Today is a Monday and we arrived at 7:30pm. The place was very empty, there was only one other family in the dining room. I anticipated more from the restaurant than I got. We ordered the Batter Fried Onion Petals, they were just okay. I'd have gotten more enjoyment from regular onion rings. The tangy bleu cheese mustard sauce was quite tasty though. My wife ordered a regular Classic American burger. She was only comfortable eating less than half of it as it was too greasy for her taste. I ordered the Three Little Pigs burger and was pleased with the taste, I'd order it again. A couple of irritating things: On my burger there was ONE piece of bacon. This is great bacon and I'd have really liked at least 2 pieces. Also, the pork shoulder was a little too fatty for my taste. AND if you are going to put lettuce on a burger, it should be fresh and crispy . On my burger I saw wilted lettuce. I was thinking it was because it was on the bottom of the burger and the heat created the wilting. But, my wife's regular burger had the same weak lettuce. Not good. Unattractive and not tasty. One last thing, when there are only 3 tables of guests in the dining room (another family arrived after we sat down) it seems that one server should be able to be attentive to all 3. But for some reason she disappeared quite frequently. No forks came with the appetizer and our soft drink refills took about 4-5 minutes to arrive. So-so service. I'd return to Burger Bar 419, but I'm pretty sure my wife is one and done with this place.

Disappointed they didn't have anything in stock... ordered the (homemade) vegy Burger-they were out. Ordered the curry Mayo-out if that. Ordered fries and they told me it was "Bacon Fat Tuesday" (Not good for a vegetarian). The server was excellent and the atmosphere was great. I hope if I try it again they have what I order!

Way to go, Burger Bar 419 for being the gastro-bar in Toledo that hits the mark. Decent beer selection (Goose Island, other midwestern breweries) and a creative, but true-to-comfort food formula. Apps are good. Definitely try the deviled eggs and the bone marrow (if you're feeling adventurous). Mmmm. Burgers are solid. Side options are too (onion petals, fries, etc..) Service is friendly and well-paced. Worth the drive to Heatherdowns. Don't be fooled by the strip-mall surroundings. Lovely inside.

My friend and I went here after seeing Wicked. They had fantastic food and great drinks. For a mixed drink, burger and fries my bill was $14 which I think is a great value! My friend got the BBQ burger which came with this awesome BBQ sauce on the side. I got the 3 little pigs and it was really good too but my friend's burger looked better than mine. I would for sure go back again!

The restaurant is in an older strip plaza, and is quite small, much smaller than I'd expected. We were there on a Friday night and the parking lot was jammed, even at 6:00 we found the wait too long, and so went back on a Saturday. The music! I only regonized two of the songs I heard (both the Stones, and both from the 60's rather than the drivel they've made after EoMS), but I loved all of the songs I heard in there! I wish they had a display somewhere that said who the band playing. This is the only place I've been in where I've cared about the music in a long time. For an appetizer we had the Spicy Chicken Pops. I think they're basically a chicken leg, with most of the meat stripped away so there's just a ball shaped portion of meat on the end, the bone used as a handle (shaped like a tootsie pop). There's no breading, just spices. Coupled with the sauce it made a delicious creation, and quite different. Based on how good they were, we will be trying some of the other things which sound a bit out there. The wife ordered a vanilla cream soda for her drink and thankfully let me sample it. We both loved it, a blast from the past. I ordered hot tea and my only choices were green teas. Next time I'll bring my own tea bags. For burgers, she got the classic American while I had an Italian. They are half pound burgers. The server (who did an excellent job) was very careful in getting how we wanted them cooked, and both came out exactly as each wanted them, and wonderfully juicy. The burgers were exquisite. Mancy Steakhouse had been my favorite burger, but I think after another burger here, they will take that spot over. The burger itself was great, great meat and perfectly cooked for me. But they went much further with what they put on the burger. The blend of things they put on it was perfect, everything in the right proportions to strike the perfect balance and incredible flavors. I normally don't like peppers on things, but loved them here. There was just a small amount, but it was just the right amount. I didn't add anything to the burger myself, trusting in them and it paid off. They've really done their homework and experimented to get it just right. I love this extreme attention to detail! For the sides, she had onion petals (pedals on their web site LOL) and I had the fries. The onion petals were very good. The fries looked great, but didn't taste as good as they looked. I suspect they had been sitting around and had been warmed up, making them kind of stale. This was the bad point of the food. I assume this isn't always how they are. We had their house ketchup which was just ok, and the garlic mayo which was quite good. Overall this was a great experience. This is a special restaurant which really seems to pay great attention to doing things extremely well. I wanted to go back the day after our first visit, but the wife isn't feeling up to par. I'm only giving them four starts right now as I've gotten more disciplined in my ratings, not giving out five stars on a first visit. But I have no doubt I'll soon be giving them that fifth star.

My wife and I decided to go out for a casual night out (which is rare with 3 young ones) and Burger Bar 419 was the perfect choice. If you're a burger connoisseur then you'll be impressed by their menu of selections but more importantly you'll appreciate the taste. Although we sat a little bit closer to the bar than I would have preferred, the loud music happened to have been right up our alley, and it was actually fun reminiscing about some songs we hadn't heard in a long time. Service was quick and efficient - I'd highly recommend.

I recently went to Toledo to visit my brother. Over the past couple of years, I have brought my brother to several burger joints in Cincinnati. Some great, some just average. Thus, he could not wait to take me to Burger Bar 419 for bragging rights. My first experience was so fantastic, we actually came back again before I headed out of town. The interior decor is very inviting and artistic. The walls are covered with local artwork and canvas paintings. Did I mention a Radiohead mix was playing on the speaker system? The gourmet burgers are plentiful and the staff is more than willing to go above and beyond to ensure that the customer has a memorable experience. The head chef even went out of his way to stop by and see how our meals tasted. I was also a big fan of the beer selection. There are several local beers to choose from and a multitude of IPA choices. I also enjoyed that regardless of the type of burger, all were priced at $9.00. On my two trips, I ordered the Crunchy Buffalo (smothered in hot sauce, bleu cheese and crunchy chips) and the Short Stuff (short rib meat and balsamic onions). Both were delicious, but the Crunchy Buffalo was by far my favorite. The mac and cheese appetizer is also delicious. The freshly cut and what looked to be lightly baked jalapeno's on top bring a whole new dimension to a basic american side dish. But fear not, if you are looking for a more basic American burger experience, you can order the American Burger and get the mac and cheese sans jalapeno's. On both visits, I ordered an appetizer, burger and a beer for under $25.00! You can't beat that, folks. I was stuffed for the rest of the day! Basically, you have no reason not to go to Burger Bar 419 at least once. I certainly am glad that I did and will continue to do so every time I go back to Toledo to visit my brother. For those of you who do go, please help spread the good word around. Here's to hoping that this unique, fresh, yet very approachable burger joint has lasting power in a city that desperately needs and deserves one.

You'll know from my review of another new, local specialty burger shop that I walk in with high hopes to these establishments because Toledo so desperately needs them. Burger Bar 419 is now my favorite burger place in Toledo. I recently took six coworkers there and they all raved about it, too, eager to tell their spouses and partners. The food is so good, I CREATED AN ACCOUNT on a rival review site to sing it's praise!! I have had the following burgers: The Crunchy Buffalo -- as others have said, this is one of the best, with an exciting taste and texture. Carolina BBQ -- I've never liked a burger with BBQ sauce on it before. This burger is great. Classic American -- don't forget the garlic mayo! The Musty Have -- grilled tomato, tallegio cheese, and bibb lettuce: simple, delightful, and elegant. The Shitake Burger -- a portabella in lieu of a steak with brie and arugula. Amazingly flavorful. What blows my mind about this place is that despite the exotic toppings, the burger is the star! Locally raised farm fresh beef. The fries are legit, and I really liked the onion petals. I highly encourage diners to order several mayo/mustard/ketchup combinations. They are fun to dip various fried things in. Anyway, two thumbs up!

Huzzah! I've been waiting for Burger Bar 419 to appear here on YELP for the last two weeks and in that time I guess you can say I have become quite the regular tackling four of their signature burgers in that time. I absolutely love this place. I will now gush over just how much love I have for this restaurant that is only two short minutes from my abode, which is also a cause for concern for the ol' belt line and arteries. But i digress... Let me start by saying this, I am a burger connoisseur. I've also been waiting for years for Toledo to pick-up on the gastropub trend that most cities I visit have a plethora of. Bar 145 was the first to open in the area and I was raving about the place after reading over the menu and the overall idea they were going for, and as much as I don't want to use this review that I've been really looking forward to posting about BB419 to talk negatively about another burger joint in town I will at the very least say this, Bar 145 does a lot of things right, but as far as their burgers go, not so much. Burger Bar nails absolutely everything. This place from the minute you walk in does everything right. From the minute you walk in you don't feel like your in Toledo. The music they play, ...though maybe not for everybody, is perfect for the vibe the decor puts off which is that of dim lighting and local art work adorning the walls. The tables and chairs at this place even fit the mood, yes really... . This place is comfortable and relaxing and the wait staff is nothing short of terrific and knowledgeable. I've had the opportunity to meet the head chef and owner on a couple of occasions as well, and one can feel the overall excitement they have for creating the perfect burger dining experience. Which leads us to the food and spirits... The Burger Bar 419 doesn't just speak my language for all things moo pies fluently, it also houses some of my favorite hand crafted beers of choice. Maumee Bay IPA, Maumee Bay Amarillo Brillo, Widmer Pitch Black, Great Lakes Eliot Ness, etc., to name a select few. All on draft, by the way. Now to the best part and what truly separates Burger Bar 419 from the rest... As I stated above, I am quite the burger nerd/snob/aficanodo, etc. I've tried 4 of their signature burgers in the last two weeks and all have been some of the best burgers I have ever had (and I have tried many, many burgers in my time). These burgers unlike Bar 145 are large and cooked perfectly. The Crunchy Buffalo is my favorite thus far, it's smothered in hot sauce, blue cheese sauce, bacon and hand cut chips. Amazing. The Carolina BBQ is right behind it with it's BBQ sauce, cheddar, over sweet and tangy slaw, topped with fried onion strings. Yummo. All of the burgers I've tried along with the friends and family I've taken there's choices were a work of art, and again, large and filling without a drip of pretension. I would also be remiss if I didn't mention the Fried Cheddar Mac and Cheese, it too is absolutely delicious. Though if you aren't a fan of fresh jalapenos I would make sure to order it without, but they are a perfect compliment to this side and/or appetizer. I could go on and on about Burger Bar 419 and how badly I want everyone in Toledo to discover it. It's everything this burger junkie has ever wanted in this town and more. Just GO TOLEDO! ...(Just GO TOLEDO?)

I'm shocked by all the good reviews! My husband and I travel often and have dined at many places across the US. Based on the reviews, we decided to eat here on Saturday evening during restaurant week. The hostess was friendly and we were seated immediately. The layout of the restaurant was odd and we were required to walk passed the open kitchen to get to our table. The floor outside the kitchen was extremely greasy and my husband and I both slipped on our way in and on our way out. While walking by the kitchen we noticed the rusted lid for the ice bin and the dirty kitchen floor. We were seated in a booth and immediately noticed how uncomfortable the booths were. If the individuals at the tables behind either of us would move, we would be lunched forward or fall backward which wasn't a big deal while waiting for our meal but when trying to eat became quite uncomfortable. For dinner, we ordered the cheddar bacon mac and cheese appetizer, the Italian Burger with onion petals and the Wet One burger with hand cut fries. When our food showed up prior to our appetizer we were both disappointed. I asked the server if we could forgo our appetizer since we received our food and the appetizer had not yet arrived. Our server said no and mentioned that she saw our appetizer was up in the kitchen and should be out any time - not sure why she had not brought it if she saw it was up? It wasn't until we were halfway finished with our burgers that our appetizer actually showed up. Thankfully we received it, as it was the best part of our meal and the one thing I would recommend people try. The Italian burger was good, but was missing the balsamic grilled tomato. I was so upset with the server declining to cancel our appetizer that I didn't want to request the tomato for my sandwich. The wet one burger was better, but nothing I would have to have again. The onion petals were not as expected and neither of us could understand the rave reviews we had read. The batter was sweet and reminded me of fair food, but they were extremely greasy, heavy, and not very crispy. The fries were extremely dense, dry on the inside, and lacking crunch. We opted to try carribbean mango ketchup and neither of us were a fan. The server was kind enough to offer up a side hell fire ketchup which was much better but did not make up for the lack of execution with the fries or onion petals. In all, the burgers themselves were just ok, but the ambiance, execution of the food, service, cleanliness, and timing of the kitchen made it a place we would not recommend and won't be returning to.

Love the food here! Locally owned an operated, which is a plus in my book. The California Burger exceeded my expectations. I'm not the type of person to go out for dinner to just get a burger, unless it is Burger Bar. Their crafted sodas and sauces are excellent as well! Really love the local feel and upbeat atmosphere.

Burger Bar 419 is a nice addition to the Toledo restaurant scene. The strip mall location shouldn't stop you from checking it out. Here's my take after three visits. Food: Really good burgers. Great fries. Unusual and very tasty appetizers. (nuts roasted in bacon grease, bone marrow...) A couple craft beers on tap. Service: Really good one visit, meh for the other two. Atmosphere: Nice room. Clean. The first visit they had some sort of club/dance music going that really didn't fit the room or the patrons in the room. (just a moment of weirdness?) This is a good place to get your burger fix.

I really really wanted to like this place. It is always crowded when I drive past this place and the decor is right up my alley. I love it when businesses support local artists with their works! The food combinations sound intreging and should have been very flavorful. We were seated in a timely manner and our server took our drink order. The water and pop came out quick but that is where the good service ended. I had also ordered an avocado shake at the same time. It look over 30 minutes to get my bland shake. I make avocado shakes at home, and their shake could really improve from some pumpkin spice or flavorful honey. Our appetizer arrived extremely hot about 5 minutes before our tepid burgers and burning hot sides. The spiced nut appetizer's flavor was interesting, but wore thin after a few minutes. I had the Pate burger, where the burger was barely warm and every topping was stone cold. The pate, mushrooms and cheese didnt seem to add any flavor to the huge burger. My husband had the three piggy burger, which was just okay and also cool. The fries and onion petals were burning hot and probably the most flavorful part of the meal... but still a 'meh'. My guess is the server/cook staff got in the weeds and got some orders wrong and the timing got messed up off the line. That I can forgive them for.... but the long hair in my burger I cannot. NASTY! Between the horrible wait for food, mediocre service, off-temp food, bland flavor and HAIR, I am not going back. And I really wanted to like this place. From the menu and decor I should have LOVED this place, but it everything else fell flat.

Great atmosphere - delicious onion petals and burgers. Very good selection of beers on tap, though the price was a bit steep given the size of the glass. The one place in town I can get Kentucky bourbon barrel ale, so I won't gripe too much. Great local eatery. It is nice to see a place thrive here in town that is not a chain.

The name of this place should be "Burger Bar 911". It was just awful. Ordered take out and no one finished their food. We ordered Chunchy Buffalo, 3 Little Pigs, Vintage Blue, Mac & Cheese & Shaker Lemon pie. The burgers were over cooked and lacked flavor. The real kicker was the Shaker Lemon pie. The only way to eat it is on a dare. One bite and I betcha you spit it out. I see this place on Kitchen Nightmares once the novelty wears off. I won't be back. I gotta believe that some of these great review have to be bogus based on what I've tasted coming out of there.

Not entirely impressed. Great idea/concept just in need of some tweaking. Came with my boyfriend and the kids, we ordered the spicy chicken pops and bacon Mac & Cheese to start. Chicken pops were excellent, very flavorful with the right amount of spice. I really liked the cucumber yogurt dipping sauce that came on the side. Mac & Cheese had good flavor, but noodles were super over cooked. We each ordered burgers as well, kids just got plain old cheeseburgers and liked them. My boyfriend and I each got The Vintage Blue burger, we both thought it could have used more or better quality blue cheese. The burger was cooked perfectly, but lacked salt. French fries were soggy, coleslaw was your regular slaw, and onion petals were...well, onion petals. Maybe we should have tried two different burgers, but either way it was just not was we expected. The layout/set up of the restaurant is really cool and I loved the local art and glittering vinyl upholstered chairs. Our waitress was very sweet, but not very attentive...had to catch a movie and didn't get to try the shakes b/c she wasn't around to order them and we ran out of time. We're not completely writing this place off, we just won't be traveling 45 min to eat here again. Give it a try if you're in the neighborhood.

BB419 does it right! The atmosphere, price, drinks, servers, etc! I haven't had a bad experience yet! WIFI HOTSPOT (for us nerds out there). I'm a real picky eater, drinker, atmosphere-er and this place please me for sure. If I want a quick burger, they got me covered. If I want to chill and drink one of their tasty beers on tap or a drink from their full bar - bada bing bada boom. So cool. I would suggest to all my friends to try at least once. Do Toledo. Come to burger bar 419.

The food here is really good, as always (this is the 3rd time I've been here). Our waitress was slow this time. The big complaint is that they let people smoke on the patio. They don't tell people this or post a sign anywhere. I didn't realize there were still restaurants that allow smoking.

We ate at Burger Bar for the first time because we were in the area of the restaurant. I liked the burger and so did my husband. We will definitely go back!!!

We had a great experience! We waited 30 min on a Friday after calling ahead 30 min prior. Our waitress came right over, drinks within 5 min, milkshakes and appetizers in 10, food in 20. Burgers were just that, burgers. I don't know what people are expecting on here? They were good! My only suggesting; thicker milkshakes. I don't understand the reference to 90's decor, it was not that at all. Almost industrial like Chipotle, but with more color. A must eat for sure! I noticed most negative reviews on here are service oriented and of course that can change depending on the quality of your server.

The burgers are all great. The fried bologna was amazing as well. The fries are always cooked the right way. Crispy, not crunchy and a little salty. The staff is always friendly. Music in the background is not too loud to actually talk during dinner.

Burger bar 419 is in a plaza, not where you'd expect to find a good food place. However this place never falls short in the food area. Great burgers and make sure to get the fries with the white graded cheese.

The only reason this place gets a 5 star review is because Yelp is holding me back. This place is right up your alley if you are a lover of good craft cocktails, and a menu that shows what the place is about. This place has a focus on a great variety of burgers, just the way you want them. I say that because of the combination of imaginative creations, as well as providing you with the entire ingredient list and allowing you to truly build your own. Whether it be the multiple choices of proteins, to the plentiful choice of cheeses, to the wide variety of custom condiments.....you will leave getting what you want. In addition to the burgers, there is a sandwich list to die for and trust me, it is done right. My suggestion is if you are a cheese lover, to order the Meltdown, substituting the Swiss for the Ghost Pepper cheese really makes this a delightful sandwich with a real kick. The bar is no joke, with classic cocktails a plenty, as well as their own concoctions and craft beer to boot. Great service is always to be expected in this friendly gem. If you are within 20 miles of this joint and don't make the trip, you will have let yourself down.

Stopped in for lunch. The place is nice and trendy, a little loud for meetings. The building is old and you can tell it lacks maintenance in the lavatory department. No hot water for washing sucks especially when it's 20 degrees outside. The staff or friendly and knowledgeable

I had to update my review after a few of my most recent experiences here and my review has gone from 5 stars to barely 2. This used to be my favorite place to go for some appetizers, drinks and amazing burgers. Fresh ingredients and innovative options were the draws to this small local place. Unfortunately, I'm not sure why it has changed, but I can no longer say that. The burgers are clearly not fresh anymore, they are preformed frozen patties that are always well done regardless of how you order it. The bacon that I ordered on my burger came out cold straight from the refrigerator and when I mentioned it to the server they just told me it's the way it's served (gross) - and also certainly not the way it used to be served. He offered to get me some more refrigerated bacon, I declined and then he charged me for it anyway. They have re-written their menu doing away with the most popular appetizers and replaced them with mediocre recipes, smaller portions and higher prices. Both "specialty" drinks that we ordered did not match the description on the menu at all, so either the bartender screwed up or simply had no idea which ingredients went into the drinks. The staff seems to be at a constant turnover and they all seem to walk around in a confused state. While the place is nearly empty, the service is lackluster at best. We were told of a dessert that we ordered only to be told a few minutes later they had no desserts anymore. So disappointing as this used to be a weekly stop for us, and I certainly won't be returning anytime soon, there are better local establishments that provide quality ingredients and service for a more reasonable price.

I generally liked this place. My boyfriend threw a hissy fit about the service though. My complaint is that I have an allergy to gluten (not intense, but still bad) and when I told the waitress that she ended up bringing me a regular, gluten bun. I've been gluten free for a while and I noticed immediately when looking at the bun. I know she didn't do it on purpose, but still frustrating because allergies should be taken seriously. My boyfriend and I both ordered a make your own burger, but they have many interesting burger combinations of their own. Avocado and bacon were $1 each to add to your burger, but they went fairly light on those. And I mean like 1 full piece of bacon and 2 slices of avocado. Definitely not a dollar's worth at least. Otherwise the food was really good and fresh. Good quality bacon that was not cold like I saw in another review. I'm not a huge burger fan (I know how can I be an American?) so I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked the burger. The location was kind of strange, but the inside was cool. The bathrooms were modest, but clean.

Wow. I was very surprised by this burger joint. The food is amazing and the menu is varied. My wife had the lamb burger and it was phenomenal. I had a standard burger and it was just right. My only regret was finding this place after we moved to Jacksonville! A must visit for any burger lover looking for a new hip place to try!

Let's just begin by saying that this was my girlfriends choice and she will never live it down. Despite her friends telling her of health code violations she insisted. So for appetizers we had the funions, pigs in heaven and the sriracha deviled eggs. For our entrée we hade the marinated mushroom, crunchy buffalo burger and the three little pigs. Only two good things happened the entire meal. We talked and we left. The only redeeming salvation in this meal was the pigs in heaven. The rest seemed to contrast anything your taste buds could ever want. The mushroom burger tasted like vinegar, the onion petals were grease with a bowl of Luke warm mac and cheese. The sriracha eggs just tasted like beer and you could tell they had been out waiting for the next victim. Do not go, avoid like the plague.

I was on a road trip across country and read that place was good so I stopped along the way. Boy am I glad I did. They have many interesting burger combinations and I had a hard time choosing one because they all sounded amazing. I had some bbq one that blew my socks off and I also had their bone marrow which was fantastic. I actually got a bit emotional at the end because I knew I'd never get to eat there again.

I really want to like this place. Really really. I'm in lust with their menu, and their decor was great .... and I salivate at the aroma wafting out the front door as I walked in. But. The wife and I stopped in on a Wednesday night. We were immediately seated and got our drinks quickly. But then the server never came back. Never. And we were there a good long while. I got to the cusp of being hangry and decided to call it. At that point there was no way we were going to make it till our food was ready even if we had ordered that moment. I went to the bartender and asked to pay for my drink. After a few minutes of trying to figure out who our server was and what we had ordered (a soda and a water), the bartender comped the soda and we left. Never did find out what happened to the waitress.

I think I've found the coolest place in Toledo and it's Burger Bar. With a commitment to all things local (ingredients, vendors, & artists), this hipster hideout brings a little chic to the suburbs. With a menu inspired by home cooking, the chefs take basic deliciousness and mix it up turning out surprising concoctions such as Pulled pork nachos, "funion" petals (fried onions topped with BBQ & Mac & cheese), and roasted marrow bones. Slap me silly & call me Anthony Bourdain, this menu rocks. I started my meal with the siracha deviled eggs & did an obvious double take when they brought out the brown & beige polka dotted bites. No, these aren't ostrich eggs, but marinated in soy sauce providing a salty saucer for the delicious creamy inside. A sprinkling of sugar bacon provides the perfect crunchy topping blending salty & sweet with a dash of spicy siracha around the plate, I opted for the Vintage Bleu burger with a chicken patty since I don't eat beef. They managed to keep the meat moist - not easy with poultry burgers - and the toppings of Bleu cheese and balsamic onions added great flavor. The brioche bun melts in your mouth too. I had a side of tangy slaw that could have used a little pick me up, but the diners at the next table kept raving about the fries. I can't wait to come back & experience more savory servings at Burger Bar.

We honestly just found this place using google maps for local restaurant and came on a whim because who doesn't like a good burger? The place is really nice, loved the ambiance and the design. We were seated right away and got our drinks, my wife ordered the Carolina BBQ and onion petals and, on the recommendation of our server, I got the stallion with pesto mac and cheese. The food was amazing. The portions were huge and worth the $10 per burger. The onion petals were perfect and the mac and cheese was delicious. Seriously some of the best food I've ever had. Our only complaint was that after we got our food we barely saw our server and it seemed to take a long time to get refills or our bill. However, we would come back in a heart beat if we're ever in the area again.

2nd visit this week, my first visit was a few wks ago when I was in town for work and it was equally as pleasant. 2 different bartenders and both were friendly and attentive. Food kind of does the talking though for this place, the burgers are fantastic and seriously huge. Last time I had the one w/the short rib on it, this time I had the farmhouse w/the fried egg, and it was my first fork and knife burger bc it was just too much to wrangle. Sides were ok, I've had the slaw which was decent, and this time had the pickled veggies which were excellent (loved the spicy kick). The beer selection is very good for a small place with about 8-10 good beers on tap. Only small complaint this time around was how hot was inside, at the bar, probably since the kitchen is right there. Would definitely visit again.

Holy cow! Holy Toledo! Holy shit! NO, bey-atches... HOLY CHEEEZUS!! "Holy Cheeezus" is the name of the new sandwich at BB419, and this thing is incredible!! Basically, it's a perfectly cooked (at least mine was...medium...) burger served between two pieces of lightly battered, deep fried white cheddar. This sandwich also has a few other gustatory highlights; great combination of flavors. If you care about your BMI or your cardiovascular health, you won't want to eat one of these everyday, but you should definitely give the "Holy Cheezus" a try! I washed mine down with the "Oliva Quad" from Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. (The beer started with a bang, but ended with a whimper). BTW, the South Toledo location is so much cooler than the "still Star Bar-ish" Monroe Street version.

Meh...not great, not horrible. The Mac and Cheese is not worth the money as a side but the burgers and chicken sandwiches are delicious. It just seems to be trying too hard, hipsterifric in ways. Good burgers can be found in so many spots and not cost so much.

Best burger I have had in years. We ordered a Carolina Burger with BBQ sauce that had a tangy flavor. Also had an Italian Burger with Mozzarella and Arugula. Both burgers were excellent with a generous order of fries that were top notch. Next time I'm in the mood for a burger forget McDonald's or Wendy's I'm heading here.

Had the vintage blue burger which was exceptional dry, eating it was a chore. The fries were just ok. The poppers app was decent, served with berry sauce like Arby's. The draft served to my husband was a stemmed glass that held about 6 ounces and cost 6.50. The fish sandwich he said was just ok. We had 2 beers each, the app, the burger and sandwich. It was a $55 lunch not including the tip. Never again.

Tasty food overall, but due to the price for the quantity you receive it is easily comparable to Red Robin or any other local burger bar. The option of having ground chicken for your burger is a nice touch, but $3 for a miniscule amount of mac and cheese that has more bread crumbs than cheese is rather silly. Due to it's location it is convenient for me, but I'd easily choose another "burger bar" to dine at when looking to satisfy a burger craving.

This place has got great ideas but bad execution. The ambience is great. It has a nice atmosphere and friendly service. The food is where it goes downhill though. Their menu is somewhat creative but their burgers are simply not worth the $11-$13 they charge (that's for burger only, sides are an extra $3). I would not mind paying that much money for a good burger but they just don't have it here. I will not be returning.

Good burgers, everything seems fresh. They have specials that are usually pretty delicious as well, service has always been good, been there a few times. Only negatives I would say are the onion pedals, they tend to absorb a lot of grease and tend to get a little soggy after a few minutes. The roasted olives left a lot to be desired.

Creative and delicious. Our burgers (the Italian and the Pâté) were cooked perfectly. Burgers were large and the buns were soft and fresh. (I don't typically care for the bread...but this was worth every carb.) The options are creative so you can get chicken (cluck it), pork (oink it) or vegan. Respectable beers on tap. Server was friendly and knowledgable. (Thank you, Jessica!!) We were just passing through, but we will be back. I have to try the marrow bone.

Great atmosphere with a good beer selection. This place stays true to a buy local ingredient philosophy. They offer fantastic toppings for your burgers. Had the "heater" and loved it. Biggest recommendation is the jalapeño poppers, which are made from scratch and mind blowing!

Finally tried this place Saturday afternoon before grocery shopping. Snowy day with the roads needing attention, so the place was not busy. Our waitress got our drink order right away and we ordered as soon as she brought them to the table. SWMBO and SWMABO both had soda. I asked if they had a hard cider (praying for my dear Stella) and found they had one by Smith and Forge. I voiced my hesitance, as I was in the mood for a Stella. The server offered a taste, so I tasted. i was actually very happy. Very similar flavor profile to the Stella Artois Cidre. Not too acidic and a smooth, honey-like finish. I had a pint. SWMBO and SWMABO both had plain burgers and fries. I mean PLAIN folks. Big girl only wants cheese and a bun and little one only wants EXTRA pickles. Burgers were juicy and cooked to perfect midwell and medium. The fries are hand-cut and skin on. Very reminiscent of Cedar Point Fries. The malt vinegar was flowing. I ordered a burger as well. It was why we were there. Jackie had said, "I feel like a good burger". I tried the "Short Stuff" - a half-pound burger with Cheddar Cheese, Pulled Short Rib and Caramelized Onions. Really a nice, juicy, flavorful burger. All burgers come on a airy kaiser roll. Looks house-baked, but I couldn't swear by that. For a side (one with burger for $10) I was going to try the Hand Cut Chips. I had pointed them out to Jackie because she likes those things, but she decided on fries. I ordered them and as the server was leaving, I had a change of mind. One of the sides had piqued my interest. Pickled Vegetables. I asked for a description and the server made me change my mind. It was a very big portion of Pickled Cauliflower (some heat, like a gardinera), Pickled Beets (Roasted and in a sweet/tart brine), Pickled Red Onion Julienne (either lemon juice or just vinegar, cause that's all that needs) , a thick cut Bread and Butter Pickle Chip and a bit of Mesclun in the center. VERY IMPRESSIVE. First because of the clear, crisp taste that cut beautifully through the fat of the burger, but also because each component had received a separate and perfect pickling. I will have those again and again. Also, there are many other great looking things on the menu. I shall return.

Hungry after the hilarious Red Green show at the Stranahan, my mom asked me if there were any gluten free restaurants nearby. Yelp indicated The Burger Bar was .2 miles away and gluten free. So we checked it out. Fantastic food. Wonderful environment. Great service. My mom is a retired art teacher and I'm a commercial artist so we enjoyed all of the original art on display throughout the restaurant. The veggie burger bean & grain with any burger gave us plenty if options. The blue cheese mustard sauce for dipping the onion pedals is one of the best flavors I've ever experienced. Rachel, our waitress did a great job helping us select gluten free foods.

This place usually has some really fantastic burgers...like five star material. Last time I went I was disappointed though. My burger had bits of gristle in every bite. I don't know if they got a bad batch of meat or what, but it was disappointing to have to chew through chunks of cartilage or fat - whatever it was - in every mouthful. The beer selection here remains consistently above average. They always have at least a couple microbrews on tap. With the alternative music in the main bar, it makes for a pretty chill place to just come and hang out. There's been a couple of times when my fiancee and I have been here and we've just sat out on the patio enjoying drinks....it's really relaxing. I'm not giving up on this place - I plan on making a return trip soon. Usually Burger Bar's burgers are top of the line. I'm pretty sure I just came on an off day.

Fantastic food and good beer selection at fair prices. Farm Home Burger was great, and done just as requested. The spicy kim chi coleslaw was very good, and quite spicy! Thick cut fries were also super tasty. Staff was attentive and friendly, and music was good. I would be a regular if I lived anywhere nearby - I'm states away. :)

I usually have a pretty good experience here. Unfortunately, the pretty looking "BBBLT" had what I can only describe as hard bacon that had been sitting for some time and revived, but not well. Hard, dry and limited to no good flavor.....yes, I'm talking about the Bacon on the BBBLT. This was a self inflicted wound. Don't play with a bacon lovers emotions. Throw out the bacon if its been sitting. Like this place, but disappointed today. The jalapeno mac and cheese side was nice. The poor rating is just for today.

I just need to write a review to share my love of this restaurant. I have frequented this establishment numerous times, and have tried almost everything on the menu. It is all delicious. The hardest thing for me now when I go is deciding which burger or sandwich to enjoy again. The burgers are all huge, juicy, flavorful, and delicious! Because they are so big, they sometimes come out a little under-done. I tend to order mine more well done than I usually would because of this. If you would like to try some of the appetizers, go with a HUGE group & have just one taste or split your sandwich - otherwise, you will not be able to finish your meal! My personal favorites/ suggestions: Appetizers Siracha-Soy Deviled Eggs Pigs in Heaven Sides: Onion petals - get the chipotle mayo for dipping! Hot Kim Chee Burgers Short Stuff Budda Burg Pate Melt Even their salads are delicious, but you really should not go to an amazing burger joint for a salad......I'm just sayin' If you have room at the end of your meal (which is highly unlikely), try one of their milkshakes! The PB&J is my favorite! Enjoy!

The food here is okay. The drinks are way to strong. I've tried a wide spectrum of drinks from here. Everything is too strong. Especially the adult milkshakes.

Stopped early in Toledo to make sure I could catch the USA vs Ghana match for the World Cup. Decided burger bar was the place where I could catch the game and have some beer and food. It's a nice little set up in the bar area and the separate dining area feels like a higher end restaurant. As for the bar only two tvs but from my seat I had a great view of both. They have some nice beers on tap and some more gems in bottles. The food was good, not the best but still good, but you wont leave feeling very healthy. Oh note, the bbq burger has an unexpected kick in its sauce. Service was good, our waitress Courtney made sure we had everything we needed and checked in the right amount, with still leaving us to enjoy our meal. Also outdoor seating, though you're just looking at the shopping center parking lot.

It's ok, but I don't understand all the fuss. I've eaten here 3 times, each disappointing. The burger meat is pretty good, but the toppings usually seem of poor quality. I've gotten sautéed mushrooms each time and each time they were squishy and slimy (more so than they should). The buns they use don't seem to be very thick, their soft and the grease soaks in quickly. Lastly, the burgers are small! Most places serving "high end" burgers offer at least half pounders.

    (2)
  • V F.

The burgers are great and fries slightly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. There are lots of interesting appetizers and extras on the menu that look appealing. Their special ketchups are all too sweet for my taste, but I love their garlic mayo. Service needs a little work. Servers often disappear and forget things.
