Rather than American Table, they should call this the over cooked cafe. I had broasted chicken, which was explained to me by the waitress is like fried chicken cooked out of the oil so it's not so greasy. When my plate arrived there was a puddle of grease beneath the tough, jaw-numbing, flavorless chicken. Even the baked potato was tough and over cooked. The other side dish was corn fresh from a can without any additional seasoning. They kindly gave me a complimentary dessert of baklava, which tasted like hazelnuts & Kairo syrup - no cinnamon, no nutmeg, no flavor. Even the phylo dough was overdone to the consistency of a wet tshirt. Wish I had something nice to say, but I'd rather eat a frozen dinner than waste another meal at American Table.

I stopped in at this restaurant when I saw their sign advertising broasted chicken, which I love. I went in and was seated right away. The waitress was very friendly. I ordered the broasted chicken and their french fries with a bowl of soup and it was all delicious. Especially the broasted chicken! You get four pieces of broasted chicken which is priced lower than any other restaurant that has broasted chicken. It was very crispy and juicy! It was the perfect chicken! I live in Grand Rapids, OH and I will be back as a regular any time I'm in the area! This is a great restaurant that I can say is one of my favorite restaurants!The owner of American Table is very friendly and treats you like your family! The waitresses are also very friendly. This is a hidden gem for those who like true american food. Tonight I had the fish&chips. Fish was cod, which can be fishy and mushy if not fixed properly, this fizh was light, fluffy,and not greasy as cried foods can be. The fries were lightly coated and no grease at all and a nice crunch outside perfect inside. My husband had the broasted chicken w/mashed potatoes and gravy. Chicken(4 pieces) is to die for. He inhaled it so fast I was lucky to get a taste. The breading is light and yet very flavorful and juicy. He also had a cup of stuffed pepper soup, which looked and smelled heavenly, another food inhaled. For dessert, we tried rice pudding which was a true rice pudding creamy and ligh. We will be regulars there and I now have a great place to get carry out chicken dinners for a lot less than kfc. Prices good, food came out hot from kitchen, waitstaff frieny and new owner walks around and is so friendly and willing to answer any and all questions.
