I'm a long time repeat customer because it's nearby and I like the margaritas. The people are nice...never experienced the rude service that others complain about. The margs are pre-made because they serve A LOT of them. Service: not bad if it's early, but slower as the place gets busier. Barron's gets the overflow when Ventura's and Loma Linda are wall-to-wall. The food is completely forgettable. Seldom hot enough for my liking and often inconsistent in quality. Go to Ventura's for better food. Only 1 other full-service restaurant with a bar in Swanton (the seafood place)...and they serve lunch only 1 day a week...so Barron's will survive, but I would never recommend it. Very much a locals-only spot.

So the good first: service was great, food came out quick. The real review: Another bad example of was passes for "Mexican" or "Tex-Mex" or "Southwestern" food or whatever you want to call it, in Northwest Ohio. Nothing authentic about the food. The salsas were bland, and clearly made from canned tomatoes, if not just a general food service salsa. The chips were also the food service bagged, not house made or even repurposed tortillas. Same for the ingredients in the tacos I had. Nothing house made or authentic. This place can best be described as a local dive bar, with good service, plenty of beers and other drinks (while I didn't have a margarita, there were pitchers of pre-made margaritas on the bar, again, not your best effort) a juke box, loud obnoxious patrons, with poor food. Loma Linda is just down the road, so I could copy and paste this review for that place, save the dive status, so spare yourself, you're not going to find good Mexican on Airport Hwy in Swanton.

The worst Mexican food I've ever had. The drinks were overly strong and unflavorful. The nacho cheese was like soup. Can't believe this place has been here all these years. I gave it 1 star because the bathroom was clean.

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL Don't waste your time or money. None of the food here is made fresh. Even the salsa is from a jar and chips from a bag. The prices seem reasonable until you realize everything is a la cart. The rice is $2 extra, you get less than 1/4 cup, and is out of a box. It cost $2 extra for kids drinks and we never got refills. The dip sampler was $10, and tasted HORRIBLE. I can't say the chimichanga was even fried, the Monterey jack cheese was described on the menu (as being included), was $1.30 extra. We paid $45 dollars for a meal I could have made at home (out of a box) for $5... HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE

So off the bat, this is not a fancy place. And at first sight, that may be a turn off. But the fact is, if you love Loma Linda's, but hate the wait, Barron's is your place. During the week, the dining area is very kid friendly. The margaritas will knock you on your butt, period. And their Mini Chicken Chimi Enchilada Style is very good.
