This place really stepped up its service and both the food and service have been great the last few times we've returned. Excellent ribs.

Gave this place a couple tries and quit going as the food is mediocre and drinks are expensive.

Zero stars ******* Still trying to get the foul taste out of my mouth of the pork nachos and smoked wings. How do you screw up nachos and wings? Our friends are moving to Florida and we wanted to have a going away party for them and they recommended this place. We checked Yelp prior to going tonight and did not have a good feeling about it. The nachos had very little cheese and iceberg lettuce. Who puts lettuce on nachos? We ordered the pulled pork on the nachos. If you did find some pork in the nachos mess it was probably mostly fat. One huge piece, the size of my palm was nothing but fat. Once you did find some meat, it was so bland. It had very little taste. My dog's chew toy tastes better. Now to the wings. I can't really pin point what was going on there. They seemed to have a fair amount of fat on them and my husband said they had a chemical taste. We are now enjoying a nice Donatos pizza to get the taste out of our mouths. We had a large group of around 40 and I have to say the wait staff did a very good job. Unfortunately that didn't make up for the incredibly nasty food! Fortunately we will never have to go there EVER AGAIN!

Service was fair . Food was marginal at best. Quality of pork on Nachos was very poor. Smoked wings was nasty in flavor ! Go to Gallows on Bethal Rd way better. By far.

Love the specials. Half off burgers on Mondays and then half off pizza/pasta on Tuesdays. Great place for the family. Awesome food at a bargain. Chicken mac n cheese is delicious. Also had the oven roasted penne with chicken and sausage, loaded with cheese. Enough for two meals. Have never had bad service here.

Tried this restaurant twice now. Great atmosphere mediocre friendly service but the quality of their meat is so poor I don't think I will be back. Prime rib and ribeye is small skinny and packed with fat. Wife's steak salad order, medium rare filet, came out with cold, gristly well done mystery steak. But you pay a fairly high price for sunbury ohio. If you go stick to the drink specials and bar food they can't mess up.

The place is huge and has a nice atmosphere but the food is just deep fried bar food. It's also very expensive! An appetizer order of cheese sticks is close to $9!

Waiting over an hour for mediocre food. The wait staff was really nice but everything else was pretty poor.

Short review: Good food, good service and the ventilation needs to be improved because, when we left, we smelled like we had sat in the kitchen. Long review: I enjoyed one of the best portobello mushroom sandwiches that I have ever eaten. The bun was extremely good and toasted to perfection with a piece of crisp leafy lettuce and a very nice slice of tomato. I am a tomato lover and it is hard to find restaurants that will pay the extra money on top quality produce. The fries were hot, crispy and tastey. My BFF ordered a burger and fries which she thoroughly enjoyed. Generous burger size! The service was good, the bottled beer was super cold, just the way I like it! The down side is the unpleasant fried food odor that clung to us. :(

I will preface this by saying that I wanted a decent meal, and a drink to toast my grandmothers memory after passing earlier today. I was not depressed, or cantankerous. Tuesday night (1/2 price pasta & pizza). I sat at the bar near the kitchen entrance watching the food go out, to help me decide on something other than between two buns. It's as loud as expected for sports on multiple TV's. However, the volumes are mute, and the jukebox music is on. I was greeted, and the staff was friendly and neat in appearance. I ordered a cocktail with multiple details, and all were met precisely. I chose the Macaroni & Cheese pasta with grilled chicken. The one I saw looked very plain, so I asked for my chicken to be extra seasoned in any way. It was over cooked with the burnt side down. The kitchen had to know it when they took it off the grill, and again when they sliced it for the meal. I consider that laziness, or lack of effort for quality. I sent that back and tried a Buffalo Chicken Pizza. Either I would have designed this dish better, or laziness & lack of effort. The chicken was breaded, not grilled. Maybe the breading soaks up more buffalo sauce. It's pizza, finger food, not knife and fork. Cut the toppings into bite size pieces. A piece alone is fine, but add into that bite, crust, sauce, cheese, LARGE chunks of Bleu cheese, and large pieces of onion. Too much. The sauce... Truly lazy to dump a bowl of coated chicken onto a pizza, followed by ALL remaining sauce in the bowl. That person decided that my pizza should have a wet crust, unable to pick up without a fork. I left a lot of that meal on the plate. If I wasn't depressed when I went in, I was now. I washed my hands in the bathroom, and the sink area was tidy and clean. Didn't look around at the rest. Now, I pay my check, push away from the bar to leave, only to discover a stain. The front of the bar had not been clean, and I was leaning into someone earlier's dinner. It's too bad. I really wanted a nice place nearby that was not primarily known for carryout or drive thru. I counted 4 mgmt/owner types there tonight. I spoke with 2. It will be a while, or a change in mgmt sign that will lure me back.

One week its 3 stars the next its ONE star. I have to agree with a lot of the other reviews. 50-60 wait for your food seems to be the norm. The food is ok. I've been hoping to find that signature meal. NO LUCK The place is great for seeing bands and the service was good.

Slow service. Took server 7-10 mins to greet us and food took a very long time to hit the table. My friend got a burger, I had a BBQ chicken salad. Burger looked decent. My salad was really bad. All iceberg lettuce, poorly cut (giant chunks) and whitish brownish. Avocados were flavorless, tomatoes were over-ripened/mushy. Had very little chicken and I bit right into a small bone/tendon. No BBQ sauce or flavor. To top it off the decor is cheesy and the bathroom floors were sticky.

We've been here several times the food is just ok on this trip I was willing to give the smoked prime rib a second chance but they were out, so I went with the 10oz ribeye,(18.99) it was ok and came with a baked potato and salad (sorry French dressing people they don't have it), when they first opened the salads had a shoe string deep fried potato toping that was very good, this time it was more like the burnt fries from the bottom of the fryer. My wife had the BWG burger (8.99), she said it was kind of dry and the fries were cold. They do have a lot of big TV's with games on. Wednesday is Kids eat free night, so if you're like me and don't want to listen to little Ethen scream you may want to pick another day

Nice environment and ambiance. Great setting for listening to the live bands. Unfortunately, the food is just ok. Our kids aren't fond of the smoky flavors in everything.

So I have been there twice - once on a Wednesday and once on a Friday. I had the prime rib special on Wednesday - it was ok. I have had or made better myself. I didn't care for the smoked taste. Yes I know it was called smoked prime rib; I just wasn't prepared for that. The Friday visit I ordered a salad and got grilled chicken in it. It was very good. Hubby got a burger that had a grilled cheese as part of it and he really enjoyed it. Son got a burger and gave it two thumbs up also. We actually had the same server both times - nice lady, took good care of us. I hope this place sticks around; it is nice having a restaurant close to home with out heading into the city.

Looks like a decent place but needs work. Foods is average and service is what it is. Prices are reasonable and bar is decent. Might be good to watch the buckeyes but not take your family

The only reason why I've gone to this place is because on Monday's their burgers are half off.. Other than that it's just to much money for what you get.. I never leave full which is disappointing, and on one occasion I had a waitress "accidentally" short me about $10 on my change.. I walked up with my receipt and mentioned that I didn't get all of my change back (I handed her a $20 for a $5 bill, only got maybe $6 back) she just smirked like she already knew and handed me my change.. Needless to say she didn't get a tip from me that day.. This was very shady and really lost my trust which is a shame because I like local businesses and the atmosphere in there is pretty decent

A very hit and miss place. Identical smoked beef brisket dinners were served to my husband and myself. One looked like a child's portion and when I turned over the meat it was totally charred and inedible. Sent back for s replacement which was good. A smoked brisket sandwich came in the same charred fashion. Sent back for a burger which was good. A friend went for the smoked rib special but the ribs weren't ready yet @ 6 pm. She ordered something else but was nonetheless disappointed on not getting her ribs. A flat bread pizza was dried out and soggy. Yes I meant both. Another time a burger was perfect. Next visit dried out. Thai noodle dish with shrimp was like out of a jar. I have no complaints about service as some people. I do think they should use the stage area space to seat people on busy nights. Why make people wait? We go somewhere else instead of waiting. I live in Sunbury and desperately want this place to succeed. I question it as you can see others do by the reviews. If this man runs Buckeye Hall of Fame Cafè with such success, why can't This be run the same way? Look into your kitchen for consistency. It is sorely lacking.

The service is good not great, and the food could be better. As you walk in the place looks awesome, but once you sit down the food and service doesn't match up. Both times I've been here they've been "out of" most or some of the draft beers. Not a good sign. It's a shame because Sunbury needs an awesome sports bar like this.

BBQ brisket was great! I really enjoyed the fun atmosphere and the service was awesome. I look forward to trying some more things on their menu.

We were seated promptly, drinks and meal served is a reasonable amount of time. Ribs were cooked perfectly and served with choice of two sides; I chose fries and baked beans- both very good; fries served fresh and very hot. There were 4 BBQ sauce choices brought to the table. Each tasted home made and were very good. Kids meal choice was Mac n cheese (Kraft, safe bet with kids) and 1 side. Nice beer selection and good menu. I would return if in the area.

Big Walnut Grill opened this week and is fabulous. The Jambalaya Pasta is my repeat entry. The service is great, staff is very friendly and music is an added delight. With Dj's during the week and live band of the weekend, it ill become my favorite hangout. Pat

We've been here twice now. I'll start with the food, The nachos with pork or chicken are really good. It seems as if the chips are made fresh here? They certainly taste like it. They have a great kids menu. Our first visit, my hubby got the buffalo chicken sandwich. he said the flavor was great, but the chicken was really small, the bun swallowed that thing whole. As a former cook, he was disappointed such a small cut of meat was put on a sandwich vs used somewhere else. I had the Italian grinder/sub. I really enjoyed it. thought it was cooked perfectly. Tonight, our second visit, we got the nachos again (I'm pregnant & required them), I got wings for dinner, 5 buffalo & 5 bbq, they were cooked perfect. My husband got the hogstack sandwich. he really didn't care for it, which isn't like him. He kept saying it was really dry, so when the server asked if we'd like BBQ sauce he accepted, when he opened the sandwich, he discovered it was completely charred, which is why it was so dry. OK, so here's the thing, we like the food (for the most part), & will return, we'd like to see this place thrive as we live locally. BUT, the service is not good. I wanted to grab an apron & show some of these girls how to kick ass & take names.... The first time we went, we had an hour, when we still didn't have an appetizer after 30 minutes, I asked for them to bring our entrees in boxes... Annoying. So today, we go with an hour & a half. However 15 minutes into the visit our server still hadn't taken our drink order. So when she finally came around I said 'look, we're in a hurry so we're going to order everything at once, the nachos are an app, the rest can come out later, but we need to rush' - now we were not in a hurry, but who has an HOUR to wait for food? with a 2 year old? so anyways, all the food came out quickly, at the same time. which is fine. the server did a good job checking in & seeing our needs were met. I guess what bothers me is I shouldn't have to try to calculate how to have the meal delivered in a timely manner. If we have over an hour available, I shouldn't have to tell the server to put a rush on our food. So it's 3 stars for now. The food would be a 4, but I can't let service like this go without taking a star. Sorry.

I wish it was as good as Pat A. said. We had the Jambalaya Pasta on Pat's recommendation. Either he works for the company, has no taste buds, Or I was just there on a bad night. The chicken was so dry in it as to be inedible. the shrimp were overcooked and the sauce came (or taste like) it came out of a jar, then clumsily seasoned. I had the pulled pork sandwich. The most generous grade I could give it is a B-, an that would be kind. There was nothing really wrong with it, just nothing about it was yummy. I didn't finish. My last complaint was the Margarita. Strait out of a bottle would have been a little better. I am going back, because I would like them to succeed (I live in Sunbury.)

Our car club had a tour that went through Sunbury over the weekend. We had 22 people. Food was great, everybody loved it. I especially liked their weekend specials on the last page of the menu. The staff did a very nice job. Several in the group said they would be back.
