The best ice cream I have EVER, EVER, EVER had. Ice cream is my favorite food, and this is my favorite place to get it. The sheer selection of flavors will blow your mind. The first time I went it took me about twenty minutes to pick a flavor (you can't mix and match). I don't think any flavor would be disappointing. Some are your regular, run-of-the-mill varieties and some are quite creative. As a heads-up, there's no reason to order anything bigger than a size small. I'm pretty sure the size small holds more than a pint of ice cream. Chances are you'll eat the whole thing anyway because it's just that good. Tuft's might be out of the way, but if you ever have a need to visit Sandusky, make sure you stop here. In fact, maybe you need to visit Sandusky to stop here!

I hate to be repetitive but this is the best Ice cream I've ever had. I'm not from there, I had never heard of it and while driving through Ohio we decide to take an impromtu detour to cedar point . On our way we passed by a pretty big Ice cream shop with alot of people inside, curiosity took it's toll also any excuse to eat ice cream and we went in, ordered key lime pie ice cream, and OMG so delicious, the only regret I had is not going back and trying all the different flavors thay have. If your ever in the area make the stop it is well worth it. cs

Hands down the best Ice Cream in Ohio...quite possibly the world. I've been to many countries, 1/3 of the U.S. and still I always look forward to coming back to my hometown area for Tofts. Sadly they aren't organic but I can live with that. Low cost for a huge serving. The small cone is much larger than you'd expect. Great for wanting to try a few different flavors

Very good ice cream at insanely low prices. Even within Cedar Point, you get waaaaay too much ice cream to be called a single scoop. Friendly staff and interesting quasi-school desk seating at the dairy. Good local activity and treat on a hot day with the kids. They sell t-shirts and hats but curiously not in kids sizes. A must see when it is too hot to stand in line at the park and you need to cool off. Very rich ice cream. Plan on a drink of water soon after.

I never realized just how good Toft's was until I started traveling and trying other local ice creams. So spoiled! Honestly, you really can't beat it. Taste is phenomenal. And a "small" is anything but! I wish they had a couple more yogurt offerings but I was pleasantly surprised to see their now offering at least one tart yogurt flavor. Not sure if they'll rotate but last night it was a delicious blueberry with whole blueberries mixed in. NomNomNom!

The only sign of life this visitor found in the mostly boarded-up storefronts and hollow streets of the town of Sandusky - we finally wound up eating at Burger King, that's how desperate we were (and this was in June! just as the summer season was starting) - was on the outskirts of town: a bustling parking lot full of cars, people milling and sitting around at patio tables in the balmy early-June evening, and what were they doing? Eating ice cream. This was the storefront in front of a large dairy plant called ... I can't read this script ... Jokt's? No, it turned out to be Toft's. Inside, at a long counter with well over 31 flavors, the cheerful staff will scoop up for you the Extra-Large Colossal Ultimo Gigantica size, which they have the temerity to call "small" and charge only $2.70 for. It was good ice cream, very thick and creamy in the American heartland style.

This is, without a doubt, the BEST ice cream I've had! Just like B = Berardi's in the Sandusky ABC's, T = Toft's. No question. Anyone who says different is crazy. No one from Sandusky will argue. If you go to Toft's on a Sunday in the summer or any holiday (Mother's Day, 4th of July, etc.), the lines will be crazy long. But it's okay, you'll know half of the people in line. It's that kind of place. Locals will wait in line for this stuff. And that says a lot coming from a former local who thought waiting more than 15 minutes for a ride at Cedar Point was too long. Easiest way to tell a Sanduskian from a tourist---see what size of ice cream they order. Prices are so cheap that you expect a stingy serving. You would be so so wrong. A small is monstrous. No one who has been before orders anything bigger than a small, and you still might not finish. Now the flavors. Oh. I can never pick a favorite. When I was a teen, I was partial to the strawberry cheesecake. Now, I don't get it that often, so I mix it up and try new stuff. However, my sister remains firmly planted in the peanut butter cup fan club. I don't think she's tried a different flavor in 20 years. There are many many flavors to satisfy all kinds of sweet teeth. If you can't decide, get a scoop of each (even in a small that's still allowed). Now that you have your huge ice cream, where to eat it? It's too big to hold while driving. There are the long row of nostalgic wooden seats---kinda like a classroom with little tops---brought over from the old Toft's location of my childhood. Outside, there are several picnic tables---covered and uncovered to enjoy your cold treat. Yep, T = Toft's. Ask anyone from Sandusky, but they're already in line.

Massive servings, more tasty flavors than you could shake a stick at (if you were inclined to do so), and cheap, cheap, cheap. Every time we make it back to north central Ohio we make a pilgrimage here with the family. I have sat in those odd desk-chair things countless times over the years, and will keep doing so as long as possible. Stop here and start (or continue) your own family tradition.

Great ice cream. Huge portions. So many different flavors. We never make a trip to Sandusky without stopping here.

  • M.A. B.

No samples, no exceptions! So, how to choose from three dozen flavors? Just guess and take advantage of the two flavor limit per serving. $3.55 for a small .... which was really about a pint of ice cream. I imagine it is a zoo here on weekends and when Cedar Point is open, so I understand the no sample policy or people would take forever to order. Take a large group, order for only half of you, get two flavors per serving and line up the dishes for a sampling buffet. You'll all be happy!

  • Curtis R.

Usually open well after Cedar Point closes. Toft's is my must stop on the way home from CP and should be yours. Creamiest ice cream ever. They have huge portions! a small consists of 4 scoops. if you do order small you should know that you can get two different flavors. I have had some really good flavors and some that lacked flavor. Since there are no descriptions and i'm not willing to ask about every flavor, i usually ask the creamer whats good or which one is their favorite and just take their word for it. This is the only ice cream that i can eat so much of and not feel weighed down. any other ice cream of this amount sends me in to a food coma. they do have a stand inside the park. but i say it is worth the 10min drive down the road to step into freshness.

Tofts is a must go anytime I make the voyage to Sandusky to visit the family. Words cannot begin to explain this amazing ice cream. It is just the best, and anyone who can make it must try it! So many different flavors, biggest portions, and just an amazing experience. Go, go, go!

  • Scott A.

Well, there is something to be said when you server ice cream from 8:00am to 11:00pm SEVEN days a week! Toft's has been in business for over 100 years and has pleased to locals and visitors for each and everyone of them. Serving a wide variety flavors, my favorite being the Caveman Chocolate, taste like no other. Each made fresh and the flavor taste like it. If your a straight vanilla or complex ice cream consumer thus is the place for you! The portions are a thing of humor as a small is four scoops on paper and you tell them to stop in reality! When the counter person ask you if that enough as the ice cream is 2-3 times the size of the cup that it is in you know that your in trouble or Mecca depending on your consumption desires. A strong 4 stars as the one star has to be deducted for public safety! Lol A must go if you are in the area!

    (4)
  • Stan W.

Dropped-in here on a whim on the way back from a day-trip to the lakeshore towns. Phenomenally wide array of flavours & selection Sole caveat: portions are HUGE!

    (4)
  • Sandra G.

Best Ice Cream ever!! Every time I come to Norwalk to visit family, Toft's is a MUST! Their ice cream is the best. Creamy, fresh. Never has that ice crystals in it that some places serve. The biggest problem is choosing which flavor to get and if I should get a cone or cup. The parlor itself is nothing fancy, old wood seats up against the front wall but who cares. I'm here for the ice cream. There is seating outside if the weather is good. All in all, greatest place to get ice cream.

    (5)
  • Jen C.

Oh, I love Toft's. I used to stop by every time I went to the orthodontist to have my braces tightened. That and getting out of school made the pain worth it. The servings they give you are huge and I've never found another ice cream company that makes ice cream as good as Tofts does. When I moved to Michigan a part of me died because I have to live without my favorite ice cream. I've never even found another brand that makes yellow cake batter or cotton candy, two of my favorite flavors!

  • Amanda D.

I do not get around to Toft's very often seeing as it is all the way up in Sandusky, but when we are visiting the in-laws we try to get over there. The ice cream at Toft's is always really good! They have so many, maybe too many, flavors to pick from. But they will allow you to get more than one flavor in a cup so that makes the decision slightly easier. My favorite flavors are the ones that have little caramel or marshmallow stuffed pieces... yes there are more then one. The only down fall here is the decor. I think the shop maybe used to be up to date, but now it seems a little run down. It's not too bad, but hopefully they will put a little money into the inside of the parlor soon. Not that this will detour me from the ice cream! Did I talk about the sizes? The sizes here are huge! I have to order the kids size scoop, not joking, and I still can't manage to eat it all. Usually I need to share because it's just way too much. The prices for these giant sizes are extremely reasonable too. Maybe it's just the smaller town thing, but you can't get anything for that price in Columbus. Worth the drive to find if you're in the area!

    (4)
  • Miranda D.

I recently moved to Sandusky from Columbus and I visited Toft Dairy because of all the hype on Yelp and Zomato. When i walked inside Toft's the place just looks run-down, it reminded me of an old gas station that needs to up-date it's interior. Which is surprising because the exterior seems well groomed and welcoming. The line to the counter was long, it gave me time to appreciate all the dirty decor. Concluding the long wait I was rewarded with my dairy desert. Can't really gather why all the locals rave about this place. The only logical explanation is that they don't have Jeni's or Coldstone up here. Overall, pretty disappointing ice cream adventure. I'll probably explore other creameries to satisfy my dairy cravings.

  • Chas M.

I'm not a huge ice cream person but whenever I am remotely in the area I stop here. Last time I had red velvet and it was literally in the top 3 flavors I have ever had in my life. They must put crack in it...its that good! Always a line but it moves fast. Kids working are kind of indifferent but if I had a constant line of husky Americans constantly flowing through the place I would get a lil over it too. If this place would be in Cleveland it would be twice the price and given some kinda lame name like "artisanal" or something. Its honest ice cream made in Western Ohio...and its damn good.

  • Jp K.

Yummy and great ice! Priced a little high. Great service. It's a must place to try when in town. Great place to get milk also.

  • Jessica D.

Found Toft's on Yelp and decided we should stop while here for our vacation! We were not disappointed! SO MANY FLAVORS and it made it hard to choose! All 4 of us in my family had waffle cones. They fill those suckers full!! We had a late breakfast and with as much ice cream as we got don't think we will be eating lunch. Service was so-so and what do you expect from high school age teens. Chocolate peanut butter was delicious!! Loved it! My hubby and kids loved theirs too and we all decided this was a great choice! Would definitely return if we are back this way!!

  • Eric S.

When visitng Sandusky... this is a must stop - even in December! This local favorite tops the list of ice cream shops all across the great state of Ohio. My little girl loves the experience of going inside too, rather than visiting a walk up window or drive thru. Go get three scoops right now!

    (5)
  • Bill S.

Great Black Walnut ice cream. Really hit the spot on a 100+ degree day. I went inside and met a really nice guy behind the counter. Big selection and I was impressed that they were proud enough of their product that they would have a shop selling their ice cream right in front of the factory.

    (5)
  • Jennifer B.

Local at it's best. Committed to quality and a phenomenal product. We got three different kinds of cones and loved them all.

Listen. I've been a Toft's fan since childhood; Like I said in my earlier review, I grew up on it. I had an opportunity to get Toft's the last time visiting home, and I was so excited. That was, until I experienced the worst customer service in my life, from them. Milan Melon Fest weekend--a handwritten sign in black magic marker stated, "NO MELON ICE CREAM, SO DON'T ASK." Don't ask? Wow, okay. Get inside.. Line is long, as per usual. But the kids working there (yes, teenagers. Not a single adult in sight), were treating people HORRIBLE. Like, borderline yelling. And so rude. There's also another handwritten sign that yells, "NO SAMPLES, NO EXCEPTIONS." Damn, Toft's! Since when did you get to be so stingy? I've always loved them, and their big servings, but I think I might just pass on you the next time I come home. You're not as accommodating or nice as you used to be. I live in Columbus, Ohio, nowadays, so thank The Lord for Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams and Coppa Gelato!

So you get largish cone for $5. Sadly, I hated the flavors I was stuck with despite asking for recs from the staff. No samples kind of screwed the experience. Just spent $20 on ice cream that is reasonably creamy yet the flavors taste disgustingly artificial and use cheap ingredients. I got red velvet cake and wedding cake. Red velvet is NOTHING like the namesake. It is empty of flavor except sweet with few pieces of actual cake. Whits is far, far better. No trace of purported cream cheese frosting threads. Wedding cake, on rec from staff, has artificial raspberry threads and dry, somewhat browned (burnt?) white wedding cake. Again, just registers sticky, disgustingly sweet without any nuance or "parts and pieces" differentiation. S'mores was decent, but couldn't try it except from my friends. #completeletdown

FANTASTIC selection of flavors, HUGE portions, and some of the best ice cream I've ever had. I was in town for a wedding and visited Toft's twice... for breakfast. Because that was the only time my schedule allowed. Yes, it was that good. Each time I got a small waffle cone with two flavors in the cone. I'm fearful of what a large waffle cone looks like because this was the largest ice cream cone I've ever eaten. Worth every calorie. I sampled many flavors and my favorites were Caveman Chocolate and Buckeye Bites. Both were incredibly rich and were filled with full-sized pieces of candy. Thank goodness I don't live anywhere near Toft's - I'd be in serious trouble.

Toft's has an ice cream parlor connected directly to their manufacturing facility...this is that location. It's kind of out of the way but based on the queue line setup, I'm guessing they foot a lot of Cedar Point traffic going thru on route 6? Either way, this is a traditional ice cream parlor with (presumably) their entire line up of seriously awesome ice creams. Toft's has a very small radius their product is distributed. I have purchased at Kroger in the Toledo area but we do not have in Indiana. There is also a Toft's parlor at Cedar Point. Their claim is Ohio's Oldest Dairy and homegrown is always good with me. Beats the industrial volumes churned out by Nestle and Breyers. Lots of certificates and other awards adorned the parlor...you can also purchase tee shirts, golf shirts, etc. There is a patio area out front which would be perfect for a summer evening (March and 28 degrees, not so much). The seating inside is kind of weird...kind of like those chairs in college classrooms but all wood? And all against a single wall. You can also purchase take home ice cream, milk, and other assorted products. Ordered a single waffle cone (Blueberry Waffle Cone flavor...so good) and it literally was about five or six scoops when said and done. Clown sized ice cream cone...could barely finish. Staff is very nice. If you are in the area this place is worth stopping at...if nothing else supporting a local business. Love the ice cream, 5 stars.

This place has the absolute best ice ice cream. Their service is always fast and friendly. And their servings are very generous!

Tofts has a very extensive menu and I'm sure everyone can find a flavor they would enjoy !! A server from Applebee's told us that tofts was the place to go,so we went and tried it we were pleasantly surprised with how good the ice cream was and the size and price of it!! All 5 of us got ice cream for 17$ ..money well spent if I do say so myself !!!! Plus the serving size is huge the kids cup is 3-4 large scoops of ice cream and the small was a half of a pint !!! You definitely get a lot of bang for your buck(eye) lol !!!!!!!!! I recommend the cherry vanilla it's fantastic

  • Missy D.

Went twice while on vacation and both times we enjoyed or ice cream. Small wafflecones and cups are gigantic! Hubby really enjoyed his pb shake. I think the ice cream could use a little more flavor. Couldn't tell much of a difference between cookies and vanilla vs the praline.

A great family owned ice cream parlor. They had three different ice cream displays, with each having 8 flavors. There were waffle cones, cake cones, and cups available. The cups come in kids', small, and large sizes. I ordered a small thinking they would just fill the cup, like a normal ice cream shop. I was wrong, and the piled on ice cream until it almost spilled over. I got Caveman Chocolate and Buckeye Bites flavors. The Caveman Chocolate was a rich Dutch chocolate ice cream with chocolate truffle bites blended in. The Buckeye Bites is a vanilla ice cream with buckeyes inside, which are chocolate peanut butter candies that are popular in Ohio. It came out to about a pint for $5. Really great value for an ice cream shop. I am a big ice cream fan and swear by Texas based Blue Bell, but this was the best ice cream I've ever had in my life. Better than Ben and Jerry's or any other brand you can name. This place is a must stop if you are visiting Sandusky for Cedar Point and they open at 8am each day. Ice cream for breakfast is acceptable, right?

  • Greg E.

By far the best place in Ohio to get fresh amazing ice cream. I mean this place has like 50 flavors of ice cream and you can even buy ice cream to take home for the family. They have everything from ice cream to milk to different flavors of drinks t-shirts it's the best. My favorite so far is the peanut butter cup mixed with the peanut butter pretzel that stuff is delicious. They have three different sizes but I recommend the small size because it's the perfect size for an ice dream treat and the perfect price. The medium is just a lot of ice cream. It's really cool too because we know someone that works there that we worked with at Kalahari so she likes to give us suggestions on what flavor we should get and what one to combine it with for the best tasting ice cream treat.

What can I say here....If you love ice cream, please, please, please visit Toft Dairy. Huge scoops of delicious frozen confection. Ohio's best.

  • Jeremy K.

My wife and I are from Pittsburgh, and came here while on a family trip at a nearby water park. This place was awesome. Probably the best ice cream I have ever had. Service was very friendly, and the place had a very local/family operated feel to it.

  • Amanda C.

Cheap Ice Cream. Awesome Waffle Cones. Huge Portions. Only problem: no descriptions of the ice cream flavor beyond the name. You just gotta kinda guess.

    (5)
  • Robin B.

I really like Toft's ice cream. Great flavor selection. I think that their no sample policy is silly; how does one decide between two or three different flavors. A small portion here is huge...as in about 6-7 scoops huge. Order the smallest size if you've eaten anything immediately prior. A fun family stop!

    (4)
  • Kate R.

This place is the BOMB! SOOOOOO many amazing ice cream flavors made in-house... and not only can you order it to eat, but you can take it to go. And the give samples!!! I contemplated getting a medium cup of ice cream but was quickly reassured that a small would be sufficient.... and they were right. I think the medium ice cream could have fed a family of 10, which would lead me to believe that the large probably could have fed the entire population of Sandusky. I had a delightful amalgamation of carmel ice cream with carmel cups, and a second flavor of chocolate ice cream with Oreo cookie bits - DELICIOUS!. I was also able to try their cotton candy flavor...quite delicious. Couldn't finish it all of my carmel/chocolatey goodness but certainly made for a fabulous breakfast the next morning. We need a Toft's in Michigan...

  • Jackie L.

-Super Cheap - 3 dollars for literally 6 scoops of ice cream -Can get more than one flavor for that price too -Also can try up to 2 other flavors with taste spoons the only negative - how can 1 person eat that much ice cream?? Too much ice cream indimidat

    (4)
  • Cory R.

Great ice cream! The no samples policy is very disappointing and inconsiderate to people with health issues (as they said NO EXCEPTIONS). I have blood sugar problems and can't have ice cream that's too sweet so I just took a shot in the dark and ordered Pumpkin Pie. It was delicious, but too sweet and I had throw away half of it because of that. Had I been able to try 2-3 flavors I could have found one that's sweetness is to my liking, but I probably won't go back knowing it's a lottery.

    (3)
  • Erin M.

No samples allowed in the summer so you have to take a guess or ask about the flavors. There are so many choices but no descriptions. Turned out pretty good and the service was quick even with a long line.

    (4)
  • Kimberly T.

Deeeeelicious! Huge portions! I had the black cherry, my husband had the pumpkin pie, and my son had a M&M flurry. All were delicious! We will go back!

    (5)
  • Wendy C.

I am already familiar with US Midwest serving size (i.e. BIG), but this place takes it to the extreme. See my picture of a "small" size; you can imagine the size of a "large" while your brain freezes over. Ice cream tasted good, although not quite in the BEST category yet. Lots of "traditional" flavours to choose from, there are a few yogurt too. Quantity and value rules here.

  • Marvin H.

I will say Tofts hands down the best ice cream around!!!I have had ice cream in several states and Tofts beats them hands down.I have tried almost every flavor but the basic chocolate and vanilla are the best to me.The portions are really huge in this place and the service is top notch.I will say anybody visiting Sandusky Ohio needs to pay Tofts Ice a visit

  • Emma F.

The only thing to not-like about this place is if you came by yourself, you probably wouldn't be able to finish your size small ice cream... 51 flavors of magic! Sure it's not low fat, but sometimes you just need your buckeye bites! The outside seating gets a little messy, but considering you'll be contributing to the mess, can't complain!

  • Carrie P.

Yummm!!! A must stop when visiting Sandusky. Huge portions and tons of options!

locals love this place - probably because they've never been out of ohio. i ordered a double shot: pecan praline and coconut something or other. its hard to believe that hard ice cream could taste limp but that was the adjective i gave it. kinda chewy and unsatisfying. not crowded at all on a friday in november. really disappointing... no thank you

Everything that everyone has said about Toft's is true! I think the best ice cream I have ever tasted, ever. Small cone / cup is FOUR scoops! Out of control! Kid's cup is THREE scoops! Oh my! The small serving allows you to choose two flavors, so that's pretty cool, share with a friend. Kids cup only allows for one flavor. And speaking of flavors, so many to choose from, something for everyone for sure! Purchased a kids cup and a small cup for about four dollars. A baragin these days!

Experience summer by sitting at an outdoor table with your favorite ice cream flavor. This place is huge and makes every other ice cream shop pale in choices, seating, and portions. At one time I made my own ice cream. I used only cream, milk, sugar, and sometimes made it a custard by laboring over the stove as I stirred in eggs. I added real flavorings, whether it be fresh fruit, chocolate or vanilla. My ice cream came with an uneven texture with some more frozen lumps, and not as silky as ice cream I bought commercially. I tried different ice cream makers but my own continued to keep the same uneven consistency and less silky taste to the tongue. I grew to like my own ice cream and looked forward to the creamy rather than silky consistency. I learned that commercial ice cream uses additives to create that even silky texture and eliminate chunks. I discovered Margaret Thatcher was not just a prime minister but a scientist who perfected a method to add more air to ice cream thus earning more money for producers as ice cream is packed by volume not by weight. Ice cream at Toft's is very much like what I made myself. Toft's is far more creative with flavors than I was. For large portions of home made ice cream at incredibly low prices get to Toft's.

When I lived in Sandusky everyone bragged about how amazing Tofts was so I had high expectations when I went there and I was disappointed. After my first experience I tried it several more times and I was disappointed over and over again. In my opinion the ice cream is gross and not that very good. The workers at Tofts are very nice but there is something about the taste that makes me sick. I have never disliked ice cream like I do Tofts. There are a lot better places to eat ice cream in Sandusky than here.

Don't waste your time on soft-serve. Toft's is known for good old fashioned ice-cream. The servings are HUGE and the flavors are awesome. CaveMan Chocolate is the bomb. The best ice-cream in Northern Ohio.

Absolutely delicious ice cream! My family loves to stop here on their way to and from Sandusky! "Small" is the new "extra large" when it comes to their portions and I love it! You can't get delicious hand dipped ice cream that is better than Toft's anywhere else in Ohio.

I have been visiting the creamery since 1978 when it was at the OLD place. Can I just say: BEST BETTER ALMOND ice cream I have ever eaten. Get the KID size cup...it is more than plenty. The service is quick, friendly and fun.

Had a flurry only so this review is not reflective of their ice cream. Soft serve was no better than dairy queen. Oreos were stale. I asked them to remake the flurry which they did (hence the second star) but the remade flurry was still VERY SUBPAR. Oreos were frozen and still quite stale. The ice cream I would hope is much better; avoid flurries at all costs

Although they don't have the BEST ice cream ever -- it's probably in my top 8 -- they do offer the best value on ice cream that I've ever experienced. For about $4, you get about 3-4 heaping scoops of high-qualty ice cream on an itty-bitty "small" cone. A small will easily feed 2, even though I was able to polish one off alone. They have large cones, but I can't imagine how much ice cream you get. In Chicago, you'd probably pay $7-8 for a Toft's "small" cone. Keep in mind, you don't get the same value at Cedar Point amusement park, where they serve Toft's, too. Toft's is offered at various locations throughout Sandusky, but I only visited this location. It's a little overwhelming to order from their vast selection of flavors. Luckily, the pleasant staff of high-schoolers will give you the opportunity to sample up to 2 flavors to help you decide. It's still a difficult task because almost all of the flavors are delicious. Although the ice cream is very good, it's the variety of flavors, excellent customer service, and sheer value that won me over. I was so happy with my experience, I had to return to Toft's before I headed back home. If you are in the Sandusky area (a la Cedar Point or to enjoy the charming town), visiting Toft's is a necessity. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Easily the best ice cream in Ohio (and I think that is clearly saying something!) But seriously folks, Tofts has made consistent, quality ice cream for decades now and I've learned that it is not just a local crowd bias that is propping them up. For a true test, take an out of town-er with you and watch their reaction. As much as I love to get the same thing every time I go, you are rewarded for trying one of their many new flavors.

Toft's is the perfect place to go for a treat after a long day at Cedar Point. The lines are always long, but the size of the icecream is worth it as well as the selection of unique flavors such as red velvet. The staff work as fast as they can to get your scoops to you, so the line moves quickly unless you have that one picky kid who just can't seem to decide. Prices are good considering the sheer amount of icecream you get. 4 generous scoops for a small! There's plenty of seating out doors as well as some benches inside to rest on while you eat.

No offense Midwestern peeps, but no wonder your restaurant booths are so wide, it's because you need to fit the people who get wide from eating all that ice cream. I couldn't believe how big the small ice cream was until I got it in my partially cracked waffle cone. Good grief, the small cone was made up of 4 scoops of ice cream. Count'um, 4 scoops! I had the buckeye flavor, and nothing is as good as some ice cream for dinner when it's 30 degrees outside.

Great ice cream. The place is immaculate. Wear your fat pants with the elastic waistband--you will have to. I like the key lime with graham cracker crust and the cheesecake. I want my Peanut Butter Cup ice cream!!!!! I've been having Toft's since I was a kid. For a special treat, we would go to the store and get sundaes or one of the amazing milkshakes and eat them in the big wooden chairs. It was so awesome. Great memories and great ice cream. I miss Toft's but make it a point to buy some or visit every time I go home to visit my family. Yum!

Every time I go home, I have to have at least one scoop of Vanilla. They have the best ice cream...ever. Unfortunately their Vanilla is artificially flavored. I was always disappointed with that, but they still have a very unique flavor. I've been all over so I have had good ice cream, gelato, etc and still, I always miss Toft's.

Biggest ice cream cones I've ever seen. The single scoop is equivalent to between a double and a triple at most ice cream stores. And it's delicious. The lines are always long, so you know they do something right.

Instead of the Tafts, Ohio should have sent the Tofts to the White House, Supreme Court and the Senate. America would be better off if the people who made this ice cream were mking laws. Worth a 12 mile drive from Berlin Heights, and it stays open later than Miller's. They make wonderful supermarket ice cream, very sweet and high in butterfat, and the peppermint is among my all time favorites.

locals love this place - probably because they've never been out of ohio. i ordered a double shot: pecan praline and coconut something or other. its hard to believe that hard ice cream could taste limp but that was the adjective i gave it. kinda chewy and unsatisfying. not crowded at all on a friday in november. really disappointing... no thank you

When visitng Sandusky... this is a must stop - even in December! This local favorite tops the list of ice cream shops all across the great state of Ohio. My little girl loves the experience of going inside too, rather than visiting a walk up window or drive thru. Go get three scoops right now!

  • Bill S.

Great Black Walnut ice cream. Really hit the spot on a 100+ degree day. I went inside and met a really nice guy behind the counter. Big selection and I was impressed that they were proud enough of their product that they would have a shop selling their ice cream right in front of the factory.

My wife and I are from Pittsburgh, and came here while on a family trip at a nearby water park. This place was awesome. Probably the best ice cream I have ever had. Service was very friendly, and the place had a very local/family operated feel to it.

Go, go, go!

-Super Cheap - 3 dollars for literally 6 scoops of ice cream -Can get more than one flavor for that price too -Also can try up to 2 other flavors with taste spoons the only negative - how can 1 person eat that much ice cream?? Too much ice cream indimidat

    (4)
  • J S.

Biggest ice cream cones I've ever seen. The single scoop is equivalent to between a double and a triple at most ice cream stores. And it's delicious. The lines are always long, so you know they do something right.

  • Kevin S.

    (5)
  • Frank C.

The only thing to not-like about this place is if you came by yourself, you probably wouldn't be able to finish your size small ice cream... 51 flavors of magic! Sure it's not low fat, but sometimes you just need your buckeye bites! The outside seating gets a little messy, but considering you'll be contributing to the mess, can't complain!

locals love this place - probably because they've never been out of ohio. i ordered a double shot: pecan praline and coconut something or other. its hard to believe that hard ice cream could taste limp but that was the adjective i gave it. kinda chewy and unsatisfying. not crowded at all on a friday in november. really disappointing... no thank you

NomNomNom!

My wife and I are from Pittsburgh, and came here while on a family trip at a nearby water park. This place was awesome. Probably the best ice cream I have ever had. Service was very friendly, and the place had a very local/family operated feel to it.

Well, there is something to be said when you server ice cream from 8:00am to 11:00pm SEVEN days a week!

Great ice cream. The place is immaculate. Wear your fat pants with the elastic waistband--you will have to. I like the key lime with graham cracker crust and the cheesecake. I think that only place that ties or beats them is Jenni's but it is one fantastic place to get ice cream. I take the kids every year.
