No food could make up for the rude staff. They did not greet or acknowledge us as we arrived or waited for a table for about a half our. I had to ask if we could wait for a table then all I got was an OK. Other diners were finished eating and paid but just sat talking or reading newspapers. After awkwardly waiting, feeling like intruders, we left to find somewhere that wanted to sell a good dining experience and food. Very disappointing as we had this place on our "must" list for a long time. We love local, non-corporate places with home cooked food.

DEREK: Hellas is a diner focused on putting out quality breakfast food. This family friendly establishment keeps the regulars coming in and the visitors coming back. DEREK: T, I was impreesed with the omlette I had and I'm sure everyone and I mean everyone should be able to find an omlette of their liking on this menu. Just about anything known to man can be put on their omlettes except for an extinct species! Fresh and quality ingredients abound in Hellas offerings and substitutions are actually encouraged to make the customer happy. DEREK: Hard to find something that Hellas doesn't do well. Service, atmosphere, and overall experience here is great. Even though it is a bit out of the way, I would purposely take the family to the Zoo or Zoombeezi Bay early to grab an omlette or biscuits and gravy. Maybe I can even talk Troy into taking me to Zoombeezi Bay this summer.

" Family Friendly Restaurant"???. I guess if your family uses the F word all the time at home, then Demo's blue language makes Hellas a Family Friendly Restaurant. I have found the following to be true over the years, although I have not been there in at least three years because Demo's a noxious behavior. Pros: Great food at fair prices. Cons: Demo, the man up front and the owner's brother is an obnoxious, foul mouthed nitwit. If Bill the owner, cook, and really nice man were not his brother, Demo would have been fired years ago.

Order as soon as possible because it takes forever to get your food when they are packed. Also, they don't serve lunch on weekends at any time.

Nothing fancy about this place. It's a family run business that is a bit off the beaten path. It is a small restuarant that primarily focuses on breakfast and lunch, although they are open three evenings during the week these days. Seating is cramped and limited. I was not sure, but simply grabbed a spot to sit down as nobody seemed to notice us coming in the door. Staff were distant and not attentive. However, it is a place where there are quite a few regulars that seem to know the staff. Prices are reasonable. Food was fresh and fairly decent. Would I go back again? Sure, if I am looking for something different. Would it be one of my first choices to return? Not really. There are so many other places around that equally offer good or better food as well as better service.

Love this place. Great food now and later when I heat up the leftovers. Nice portions and it's all good!

Hellas is an obvious Greek family owned small hole in the wall, but don't judge a book by its cover... I've been coming here since I was in high school, but I realized moving away for college I crave it almost every Sunday. I have only ordered breakfast so can only speak on that behalf. When receiving my first two,two and two plate(2 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 pieces of bacon/sausage), the pancakes looked so perfect with the melted butter on top I couldn't help myself but indulge. The pancakes are crispy I almost want to call them "fried." They are unreal! This is also the only restaurant I will eat eggs at... I don't even like eggs, but something about Hellas that never seems to stop me. Not only are their pancakes amazing, their fresh toast comes made with thick French bread. They are mountainous! I tend to flip a coin to figure out which of the two to order. Just recently I ordered their Greek omelet on a whim and it was as expected, AMAZING! It's a baked ham with mushrooms (I removed) and roasted tomatoes with fresh wonderful feta cheese to top it off. So next time your in town, do yourself a favor and please give this wonderful place a visit. You won't be disappointed.

FOOD: Pictures of the dark brown avocado and awful meat from inside the polystyrene boxes of illness are uploaded here to spare you such a nauseating ordeal. Avoid like the plague. Oh, and ketchup sachets were sticky with Iced Tea, somehow. STAFF: The staff are unbearably rude. The hunched fellow in the dirty jumper, who sounds like the owners brother from reading other reviews, thought it would be acceptable to wipe down our plastic cutlery with his bare hands. He also shouted at another customer who clearly was given the wrong order. A blonde waitress was attentive throughout but her moody female colleague appeared annoyed and largely unhelpful. POSITIVES: There's parking and other dining options nearby.

Went to Hellas a few times, and was often met with a lot of attitude from some of the servers. By and large, they don't listen to simple instructions and get fussy when the same thing is asked over and over. On one visit, I counted no less than eight screw-ups. But worse than this is how I was treated by the cook, Demo. He asked, "Why do you have a handicapped sticker on your car? You don't look handicapped. Is that not your car?" Never mind that it's a disabled veteran plate for service-connected injuries, with the word "veteran" in all caps. I just responded by asking if he was a doctor. And by the way, I wasn't parked in a handicapped spot. Players take on the demeanor of the coach, which explains why this place is such a disaster.

It's important to realize this isn't some ritzy, hip restaurant. It's a homey, no fuss, consistent breakfast/ lunch spot- and after countless visits it has never disappointed. The servings are huge and the pricing is fair. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu with sausage.. I especially recommend a sausage and cheese omelet, and even more so the sausage gravy and biscuits- I continually crave this dish all the way across the country. Their french toast are also amazing- the bread used will truly make you wish all french toast was made the same way. The coffee is always fresh and the waitresses make sure your mug stays full. This is by far the best breakfast spot in the area ( you'd be foolish to visit Scramblers or Bob Evans instead )

Hellas is great. It's always packed on Sat and Sun but the wait is a lot quicker than you think it is going to be. The food is great and the portion sizes are huge. There omlets and home fries are enough to split between two people. The home fries could use a little more seasoning but there is a bottle of hot sauce on the table which helps out. Their biscuits and gravy is awesome! The service is great and food comes out very fast no matter how busy they are.

Looking for down home no frills meals? Come to Hellas. Whether breakfast or lunch, they have all the basic hearty dishes like pancakes, french toast, bacon, multiple omelettes, sandwiches and salads at very affordable prices. My boyfriend and his family have frequented this spot since they were kids and are friends with the owners. First time we came here was for sit-down breakfast. It was packed but we lucked out with a table. While all the staff were very friendly and attentive, there was a LONG wait for food. Lucky my boyfriend and I weren't in a rush. I ordered a fried green tomato omelette with toast - very basic but satisfied my taste buds. I also tried my boyfriend's home fries which were ok but not as crispy as I like them. The second visit, his mom picked up food to go before our flight back home. She ordered us the Italian sub, which my boyfriend has loved since childhood. He described it as an open faced pizza sub, and that's exactly how it looked and tasted. Very greasy and heavy but still delicious - I could only eat half cause they piled on steak fries as a side order. Overall a good food place that doesn't break the bank for a family meal!

I'm torn. Food is yummy (edging on greasy spoon) but the way you seat yourself is first come first serve. There are two doorways so it's a battle of who came in first, there are jackass parties of one who sit at a 4-top, and just general chaos and inefficiency

Awful experience. Waited over half hour for our food while those that came in after us were served first. Sausage was undercooked and not edible. No apologies for the delay. Omelette was mediocre. We will not be back

Have been going here for years, originally back when it was the smaller place across the street. Great omelets, French toast, and best biscuits and gravy in town. Great place to break away from the other chain places. Small setting but moves quickly.

We just ate there this morning for the first time with our 14 month old son. We loved it!!! Th staff is incredibly nice and the omelettes were huge and delicious !!! So are their fried breakfast potatoes! My son shared food with us and loved it all. They definitely stay busy but it is well worth it!

Overall, a solid "Not bad." Service was fine, coffee was really good. My Santa Fe omelette was a little over done. (See picture). My wife and son both had biscuits and gravy and that was pretty good though we thought the potatoes were over buttered. Might come back again.

I have been a loyal Hellas customer since they were a shack across the street (anyone remember Jenny?), so it really hurts me that I have to give them 4 stars. Flashback, I remember coming home from college and my mom and sister taking me to this shack and telling me that it is a great breakfast. I was a little skeptical being in a little room with three tables, a counter and a beverage case with OJ, milk and pop, but I knew I could trust them. This was back in the day when you could smoke inside restaurants. They had a sign saying something to the effect that whole place was a smoking section. At that time they only took cash. Once they moved to their current location, we didn't notice the credit card stickers on the door for over a year. Anyway, the french toast you get today is still the same french toast you got back then. French type bread with a dusting or powdered sugar and cinnamon. I think out of the millions of times that I have gotten the french toast, it has only been soggy in the middle one time. I don't know how they do it, but I sure wish I could make french toast like this at home, but then I wouldn't need to go to Hellas. And if you come here for breakfast, you can't order without getting a side of home fries. The medium sliced potatoes are great smothered with cheese and onions. I can taste the crispy potatoes as I type this review. My dad always orders the oven dried tomato omelet. I wasn't a big fan of eggs till recently, but this omelet looked great. They have a huge list of omelets to choose from or you can build your own. All the prices on the menu are very reasonable. The down fall to Hellas is that it is becoming too popular. It went from a shack to dining room with about 8 tables with a counter, but now they have added on to their restaurant creating room for many more tables. This has caused a problem in the kitchen. I know when I go to Hellas to expect a wait to get a table, but the wait recently to get my food has just been a little ridiculous. Waiting a half hour for breakfast food just seems too long to me. I know this won't stop be from going to Hellas, but it has detoured me when I know I don't have the time for breakfast to take up half of my day. If you have never been to Hellas, don't be scared of the wait because the food is excellent and worth trying out at least once. But watch out, you might get addicted.

So this may sound confusing but it is TRUE. Ordering chicken salad on a Hellas salad isn't a menu choice. What you have to do is order the AVACADO Salad without avacado. That salad comes with either chicken salad or tuna salad as a topper. It's like Jack Nicholson trying to order plain toast (it isn't on the menue) from the movie "5 Easy Pieces". He orders the chicken salad sandwich, no butter, no mayonaisse, not lettuce..... then asks the waitress to hold the chicken salad. Well, it's not difficult. And the chicken salad on salad (hold the avacado) is delicious. And as a bonus I tried the black-eyed peas and sausage soup today (gumbo sans dirty rice). Fantastic. GO... go now... to Hellas.

One visit to Hella's and you will see why this place gets 5 stars. I went here with a group of friends for brunch and the food was amazing. It also has a very small family owned feel to it. It gets busy on weekend mornings so you may want to try to reserve a table if possible.

I took my son there for breakfast and we walked out with a bill that was nearly $30!!! The food was pretty good, but come on and they charged us more than what the prices on the menu were. How is that legal??? Won't be going back there EVER.

My favorite breakfast joint. If you love the flavor of (OOO PAAA), flaming Kaseri cheese, try the fried cheese wrap. I wish they would put it in an omelette. I have never had a bad breakfast here. It is pretty small, but worth the wait.

The best chicken salad club sandwich in central Ohio. Demo and Bill run a terrific restaurant. Be sure to try the spaghetti also - fabulous!

  • Derek O.

Avoid this place like the plague! Although the food was decent, my wife noticed that they had charged us 10% extra on our bill. When we pointed out the mistake to the waitress, we were told that because food prices had gone up, the owners instructed her to add 10% to all customer bills! When we complained that the prices were higher than the menu prices, we were told that they had posted the new "policy" on one of the walls. She was right ... there was a small sheet of paper with a typewritten notice near the bathroom. It said the policy went into effect over a month ago. Shame on them for not updating their menus and not having the waitress tell customers about higher prices BEFORE they eat. My guess is most people don't notice the overcharge and walk out without knowing they've been taken. I will never go to this rip-off joint again again.

Fantastic omelettes; outstanding sandwiches and salads, all with Greek flair. Small venue, so seating is limited.
