My Asiago burger was delicious and the onion rings were perfectly done. My daughter had French onion soup and a salad. We were very satisfied. The restaurant was pleasantly decorated and comfortable. We will definitely come back.

Kids eat free Sun/Mon! My entree was pretty nasty but everyone else liked their food so I'm giving them 3 stars to be nice. I ordered the half chicken with Jamaican seasoning. I normally love Jamaican flavors but theirs tasted like rancid BBQ sauce! My husband had fish and chips and it was a huge piece of fish and he said it was good. The kids had hamburger and a spaghetti meals and both ate it all which is rare lol Our waiter was soooo nice and really friendly, but I wouldn't eat there again.

I lived nearby in Shawnee Hills during 2004-2006. I frequently ate at the Gooseneck with my family. In 2006, we moved to New Mexico and later to the San Diego area. I retuned to Sebring, OH (Copeland Oaks Retirement Community) several years ago. Yesterday, while visiting my son's home in Hilliard, I decided to over to Powell at eat at the Gooseneck. I arrived at 11:20 am on a Wednesday. At noontime, only the tables in the bar are available for seating. I was their first customer. The Bartender/Server was very friendly and said I had my choice of tables. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich w/fries. While I know their burgers are excellent, I had just eaten at a Culver's the prior evening. I recalled the Gooseneck burger plates were very filling and their reputation did not fail me when my chicken sandwich was placed in front of me. No kidding, the size of the grilled chicken (very tasty) was twice as large as I expected. Quality was not compromised. Also, the kitchen did not skimp on the tomato, lettuce, pickle and fries added to the plate. Very little had changed from my last meal here years ago. That is a good thing. Consistency at a restaurant brings back customers. It will bring me back here again on another trip to Columbus.

We were impressed by Gooseneck Tavern. Service was friendly and accommodating to our older diners and to the two who were delayed - alternately holding off and then coming immediately to our table to get orders, refills, and check in on us. That made our experience, really - we felt very welcomed. The decor is a firefighter/NASCAR/OSU theme, so lots of things to look at in addition to the big screen TVs. Plenty of beer selections and lots of house-made bar food along with comfort food dinners that hit the spot. We ordered an appetizer of kettle chips that were dressed like potato skins, with hot sauce already added in. It was obvious that the chips were cut in-house, and they were fresh and crispy and chewy and yum. Our entrees were also excellent. The Oriental Chicken salad and the Japanese steak salad were awesome - the spouse pronounced the steak as the best part of the dish (so often steak salads are tough, overcooked cuts) and the Asian dressing was fresh and citrusy. I had the shrimp basket, with hand battered shrimp with the tails already off. Hot fries and cool cole slaw rounded that out. My dad had their liver and onions, with real mashed potatoes. He liked it a lot. Another in our party had, on recommendation, a house-ground burger with his choice of toppings - which was pronounced really good. All around strong execution.

All of these years living nearby and tonight was the first night we went to Gooseneck with our toddler. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Restaurant could use a bit of a deep cleaning or revamping but I understand it is a local tavern so I get it. Food came out fast which is a plus when you are eating with a toddler and was absolutely delicious! Our son devoured his kids meal (which was free tonight because of Kids Eat Free! How awesome?! We had no idea!) and we both loved our food as well (I got the chargrilled chicken wings while hubby got the Philly cheesesteak and fries). We will definitely be back!

Maybe I ate too healthily this weekend, because today I was in the mood for a burger, or barbecue, something meaty. I happened to be in this area, and Gooseneck was my third choice: the BBQ place I went was permanently closed, and seeing the great reviews for Kraft House 5's burgers I intended to go there but it was closed on Mondays. I understand the rationale for that, but jeez, sometimes I want to eat out on Monday! Anyway, the burgers here got great reviews, so I set off to find it. Which was hard- it is tucked away behind the main strip, at the far end of the UDF building. The sign was hard to see, and even when I pulled up it wasn't very enticing. The only sign it was open was the neon one in the window; they place looks almost abandoned, though so does my yard on these first few days after the snow melts... Plus I was there during the day; at night it might stand out. Inside, it is very dark. Very much a bar. Fire and police pictures line the walls. Service was very friendly and prompt. There's a great beer selection, but I couldn't partake because I was on my way to work. I had the house burger, which is a double cheeseburger with "special sauce." It. Was. Perfect. Perfectly cooked, great beef, good bun, fresh toppings, all in all just an incredible burger. It comes with onion rings, which were also equal to the best I've ever had. Hearty, crispy, piping hot. Just classic examples of burgers and onion rings. This is way off my beaten path, but if I lived nearby I'd come whenever I was jonesing for a burger.

We were driving around looking for a new place to eat and happened upon the Gooseneck Tavern. We sat at a hightop and determined that the bartender was also the waitress for the section we were sitting at. She hadn't left the bar area, as there were several patrons getting drinks that she needed to help. We waited about 15 minutes to get a menu, almost leaving. Once we had the menus, nothing really stuck out as particularly appealing. We ended up both getting the roast beef that was supposed to come with au jus and horseradish. We're both big horseradish proponents, so we really ordered with that in mind. When we finally got our meals, it came with the au jus, but not the horseradish sauce. We asked for it and the waitress said, "Oh, you want horseradish? Okay." as if it was some type of addition. The meal was okay. I wasn't super impressed. The meat was kind of tough and struck me as something that might have been microwaved. It looked like they had good deals on drinks, but we didn't get one this time. The whole meal cost us less than $30, which isn't bad, but the food was fairly lackluster. There was one table of 4 older people who were clearly intoxicated. They were being extremely loud. As everyone else in the place was talking at a reasonable volume, everyone could hear everything this group was saying. Very distracting. Seemed like they were locals, as were most people in the place. Overall, reasonably priced but, for as far away as it is from us and with the service and quality of food, we probably won't be back. If I had to do it again, i wouldn't sit in the bar area.

Been meaning to go in here after someone we knew raved about it and finally did. Not too bad a place! A lot of locals come in and are known by the staff as was evident by the way the servers were chatting and recalling what things the customers liked. We had the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer and they were pretty good. Hubs had the ribeye steak and it was tasty while I had the 1/2 Jamaican chicken. No mon! Just putting some sauce on it does not make it Jamaican. But other than that the food was tasty and the firehouse decor was - interesting. They appear to be known for their ground in shop burger and onion rings and from the number we saw going past us they must be some kinda good. Next time we go (and there will be a next time) we will get our burger on!

I don't even want to give this place one star. I had the Greek salad with chicken & it was terrible. Everything but the lettuce came from a can. Canned tomatoes & canned artichokes. Canned onions. And then of course olives & banana peppers of which I would expect to be from a jar. They say they make the Greek dressing in-house. Tasted like store bought to me - nothing special. The grilled chicken was of the frozen processed variety. I guess this place is known for it's greasy fried bar food & maybe that's why it had 4 stars. I'll never eat here again. Service was nothing short of indifferent.

Several co-workers told us about this place, but for some reason it took us a year living in Powell before we finally tried it. Oh my gosh! The food is awesome, and the service is too! We usually ask for Heidi's section and she always takes good care of us. The "gringo queso dip" is to die for - fried pretzel bites with cheese dip, and my husband swears by the "buffalo mac & cheese". Yes, they have healthy options too, which are good, but I'm usually a sucker for the rotating selection of daily specials. Yum, yum, yum. Still hungry when you're done? Walk next door for some ice cream at UDF, or Graeter's, Handel's, and Jeni's are all in walking distance as well. We try to walk the 1-mile from our house when the weather is nice!

There's always a good time to be had at the Gooseneck. They have a great happy hour (most apps are half-price! Try the Greek nachos or the fried pickles) and the food is always awesome (don't skip the Cobb salad... no, really). Lots of selection for draft beers and they usually have a cider on tap which is my favorite :) Plus service is usually top-notch. My favorite restaurant in Powell!

I bought a groupon for Gooseneck, that's what brought us here. Happy hour is ok. $1 off all alcohol and $2 off all apps mon-sat, which is nice because a lot of places don't have happy hour on Saturday. The food was good, not great. Service was very friendly and nice. I would say the only down side is the service was extremely slowwww... I wouldn't come here and expect to be out quick. On the up side, they do have a really nice patio to sit on on nice days!

Both the hubby and I got the fried fish here. (He got the fish and chips and I got a fish sandwich). It was definitely above average from most bars fish, but at the same time, it was not quite out of this world. Our waiter was really good and the food came out fast and was cooked well. The fries were excellent and the price was right!

My wife and I found ourselves back here on Monday (particularly because kids eat free but also because we hadn't been grocery shopping from the weekend. I wanted to have rib's but I thought I'd try a few other things on the menu instead. Also since it was happy hour we thought we would get a couple appetizers since they were $2 off. You can't go wrong with the fried pickles for an app so that's what my wife ordered. I ordered their wings and was quite impressed. They are cooked crisp and perfect and I had them doused in honey mustard which wasn't good by itself, but was amazing when combined with the Jamaican sauce I asked to try on the side. I also tried Spicy Honey and it was probably the first wing sauce I've had with "honey" in the title that you could actually tell it was made with honey. It was a bit too sweet for me and I knew it would be sticky so I opted to mix the other two and would do it again. They are better than BW's and Quaker Steak but not as good as Hoggy's or Mac's...close though. For dinner I tried the fish and chips. It was okay, not my favorite, especially the fries...they just weren't good, in fact they were kinda sub par (the chips). My wife ordered the Asiago and Sun Dried Tomato Fettuccini and it was pretty amazing. For me to say that is exceptional...I am not a pasta guy by no means...I can't even find something on the menu at Olive Garden that I like...but the pasta here was something I would actually eat...if I wasn't hungry for ribs. We decided to go for dessert too, why not? So we ordered the brownie sunday. Not impressed. I think we will try the homemade chocolate mouse next time. The brownies were more like bread than brownies and you didn't get much for $4.95...it was a $3 dessert to be honest. We keep going back because this place is good, has great service, an amazing atmosphere and is close to home. Definitely the best restaurant in Powell.

The inside of this place is pretty nice, much different than the outside strip mall appeal that you get as a first impression. On this visit I had fish and chips which was just "OK" as fish and chips in the US goes. I did feel the oil was dirty when they cooked the fish and it had a little bit of odd flavor to it. The fries were pretty good as well, battered and crunchy. My kid got a cheeseburger which you could tell was actually good meat and not that pre-frozen nightmare most places serve.

The food and the atmosphere have never been the problem ---- it's still that "coupon thing" that really upsets me. Well - went back there on Friday evening and, the food is good and the atmosphere is fun. Finally . . . was able to get a table with the KEY MAN (in my opinion) in the place - RAY ---- he makes it. I told him of my disappointment and he explained to me that OH State Law prohibits the discounting of liquor, which is why liquor can not be a part of a check to which a discount is applied. OK - I understand that. But, I still do not accept that the discount could not be given on the check; after all, there was FOOD on there . . . so apply the discount to the FOOD and leave the liquor alone. After all - the total amount of money WAS spent! But, Ray made it all better with his pleasant personality and explanation. He needs a raise! UPDATE for 2013 - RAY is no longer there. Still a nice place but it is just sort of missing something without RAY. They also changed their burger recipe/supplier and they don;t taste as good --- I will not order another one.

Great staff. Interesting food. Friendly atmosphere. I like the beer options because it's more than the same old same old. If you want that tho, it's there. Food has a twist, like deepfried meatballs on the meatball sub. Turkey Reuben and Patty Melt are also favorites. They have wifi! 3 big screens are in the bar. Music is usually classic rock hits with some modern ones mixed in.

I just dig the vibe here. Burgers are pretty good, prices very reasonable. Laid back, friendly, great place to catch up over a beer without a loud dirty bar. Good selection of drafts, and if you're lucky, you can snag a Great Lakes Christmas Ale during the winter.

After reading several good reviews about this place, we decided to try it out. We found it very enjoyable. The atmosphere is comfortable, the servers are polite and the portions of food were very good. The food was prepared as ordered and there was very little wait on getting it. The prices are decent. Our visit was all the way around a good one.

I've been looking for a "regular" bar ever since my old standby, the Rose & Thistle, closed in the summer of 2006. That's a long 5+ years to find a comfortable bar; especially when you're verging on alcoholism and drinking is pretty much an essential activity to get through the grind of day-to-day life. That's why I'm happy (my liver, less so) that I stumbled upon the Gooseneck Tavern. This spot is tucked away at the end of a long strip shopping center in a very suburban, whitebread, unappealing portion of Powell. (Which, in actuality, probably sums up the majority of the portions of Powell.) If you're patient enough to navigate through the usual anonymous fast-food and fast-casual temples in the Sawmill Road/Powell Road corridor, accompanied by SUVs packed full of passive-aggressive soccer moms, followed by BMW-driving pricks, you'll find a gem of a bar where it's perfectly acceptable to drink a double scotch at 11:00 a.m. on a Sunday. See, this is a regular haunt, where the bartender (ask for Ray) calls out your name when you walk in the front door and has your drink of choice ready for you before you have a chance to sit down. It helps that there are very few patrons in here at any given time - but it's still a nice, warm and fuzzy feeling. This feels like a family joint, almost like a club where everyone is in on the secret. Yes, the clientele is a bit on the geriatric side, but I find that I now prefer to be surrounded by old drunks, rather than the douches that you find on any given weekend night on Park Street or in the Short North. The interior of the restaurant is divided into a bar and the main dining area. There are also tables in the bar area where you can dine. Walls are decorated with firefighter paraphernalia and various Ohio sports team logos (although I think there's more Browns crap than anything else). It's pretty dark and cozy inside, and if there's no games on any of the TV screens, the place is stone silent, except for the ramblings of the other drunks who have joined you in the bar area. There may be a few couples/families dropping in for lunch or dinner, but most of the time, the "action" takes place at the bar. Gooseneck has a fantastic menu offering a great selection of bar staples such as fried pickle chips, nachos, wings (which are amazing - try the "barbalo" sauce), and chicken tenders, in addition to many sandwiches (try the turkey reuben) and other entrees (try the buffalo chicken mac n' cheese and/or fish & chips). The fries are some of the best I've ever tasted, and they have a strawberry rice pudding for dessert that is undies-soiling worthy. The menu is very extensive and they have frequent specials (there was some sort of a hot dog special the last time I was there) so you will have no trouble finding something worthy of pigging out on. Portions are massive and you will more than likely have to take some home with you. Yes, the kitchen is sometimes a little slow with getting the food out, but just drink another gin and tonic and you won't even notice. Beer selection is quite decent - they've had (and I've been imbibing) Great Lakes Christmas Ale on my last couple visits, as well as a couple other Great Lakes offerings. Bottom line is that this is the best sports bar in the northwest corridor, if not the city. Skip the corporate sterility of the nearby BW3 and head to Gooseneck for some small business substance.

If you're looking for a decent place to have some beer and wings after visiting the Columbus Zoo, this is a place to check out. If you're a fan of firefighters, then definitely this place will appeal to you with its decor. We ate in the bar area, but there is a restaurant. The bartender was uber-friendly and helpful. The place wasn't too busy. We were the only ones at a high top table, and there about five people sitting at the bar. We both had the Brooklyn Brown Ale, which was on draught, and very good. We ordered two appetizers, wings with spicy honey, and spicy beer shrimp. Despite the "spicy" in the title, neither dish was very spicy. Both used red peppers with a lot of honey. You could taste the honey with the wings, which is not a bad thing at all. The spicy beer shrimp was peeled and in a thin sauce. It was ok. Something needed to be done with the shrimp - perhaps breaded? They just didn't pick up the sauce very well, and the shrimp tasted like the frozen kind you buy at your supermarket and thaw out. Then again, I didn't expect fresh shrimp at a bar near the Columbus Zoo. For dessert, I had some sort of homemade mousse, which was yummy, and surprisingly good for a bar dessert. I never enjoy desserts at bars. The Hoff had some sort of strawberry bread pudding, which the bartender said was his favorite. Overall, we had a good experience here. We're not local to the area, so I doubt we'll ever return, but I do recommend the place if you're near by.

I loved the Gooseneck Tavern. I went here with my girlfriend on a Sunday afternoon and I think I've become a regular fan. I plan to return many more times! The food is great. We both ordered the same thing (ESP?), the Fish and Chips, and it was GREAT! This was some seriously good bar food! I used to go to other bars that served so-so food as well as to some that served only apps, but this was a great meal! The beer selection was very good as well. The bar is fully-stocked. The prices were good too and the bar offers free Wifi. I can't really speak to what the noise level is at happy hour, as I said it was a Sunday afternoon when we went. The bar was entertaining, though, as we are both big hockey fans and it had an NHL game on the TV we were facing. There wern't too many people in the bar at the time, but it had just opened for the day. Service was good with great table service. The bar also has great decor with a big-time interest in firefighting. I plan a second trip soon to check out the bar at a different time of day or on a different day. I may get the Fish and Chips again, though, they were great!

Quick review: good draft selection, enormous menu, quick service, tight dining area, plenty of TV's if you want to come watch sports. The decor has a fireman theme and the kids love coming here. The kids menu is very good and well-priced and they get the right amount of food for a kids plate. The staff is always friendly and courteous. This is another place that could stand to cut their menu by 30% (at least). There are too many choices and for a "bar" you just know they can't do everything well. I've had pasta there in the past and won't make that mistake again. So stick with the burgers and sandwiches. My tip: get the portobello mushroom sandwich which is excellent and one of the best I've had. They will also allow you to substitute fries for a side and they have plenty of other sides to keep it manageable for the health-conscious. The chicken wings and burgers are good too. Because of the small dining area it can get busy, so plan ahead...especially if you have a large group. This is a hidden gem in Powell as it is a bit off the popular areas.

Gooseneck is a great little bar/restaurant. It has a firefighter theme and I always find something new and interesting on the phone. This time around we only had appetizers. We had chicken fingers with spicy honey. Hummmm that sauce was absolutely great.
