I came in on a weeknight, and had a good experience. My server was personable, funny, and helpful. He made some great suggestions. I was dining with someone else and our server let us know that the "special rolls" were buy one, get one half price (we had decided on only three rolls), so I appreciated him letting us know. They had a decent drink list and a few bottles of beer (I mean, I wasn't there for the alcohol but ordered a glass of wine). It was about average compared to most other sushi joints. It was clean and the interior was nice. Now on to the food. It was good but nothing amazing. To be fair, I'm not from here so it's not like I can say I will be back (it was a nice experience but it would take a lot for me to drive over two hours). The fish didn't taste old but wasn't that fresh. None of the flavors impressed me but it was a decent meal. The Angel Kiss (it was Angel something, not exactly sure) was really good - my server suggested it and I was thankful. Also, as I was on a work trip I really appreciated that my server tossed one roll on its own tab so I could get paid by work for it (and alcohol on another tab).

Clean, friendly, calm atmosphere. Very delicious. Surprised that they had tom yum soup. Sushi are very fresh. Thai tea was really good and sweet. Love the eel sushi. My favorite.

Yum!! Met our sister and bro-in-law and their baby here last night. I've been hearing about this place but hadn't been here yet. I thoroughly enjoyed it! It was exactly what I would have expected based on what I've heard about it and the signage on the outside of the building. Our server was very nice and attentive and there were tons of veg options on the menu. My husband and I split the Angel Smile roll, the King Salmon roll, the peanut avocado roll, the avocado roll (I had actually ordered the sweet potato tempura roll but I love avocado so ate what was put in front of me...hehe), avocado salad, and shared edamame, and agedashi tofu with the table. Everything tasted fantastic. I love the avocado salad. It's very simple, but really good: iceberg lettuce with hecka avocado on top, and topped with a delicious ginger dressing. On top of that, not expensive compared to other sushi places of the same caliber and I hear they have roll specials on happy hour, so it could be even cheaper. I'll for sure be going back!

It was nice, the server made a couple of good recommendations. The price was about average for midwest sushi places. The drink list was adequate though I didn't try any of the fancier cocktails. The server was very good, made us comfortable, helped select items, chatted a little bit and let us know that the kitchen would be closing so we could put in last minute orders if we wanted. I think his name was David. We particularly liked the angel face roll and godzilla roll. Anyhow, I'd go again if I lived in the area.

Interior is very nice and the server was very patient with us when we couldnt decide our sushis!! We chose the fat lady roll and the sex on the beach roll! They were both good but the sex on the beach was spicier than I anticipated since the wasibi was sprayed on top as one of the sauces... fat lady roll is perfect for the ones who cant tolerate spice and for kids :) I also really enjoyed their miso soup with the shrimp dumplings! I love the shrimp dumplings!

Every time I come here, I keep wanting it to be better and thinking it's magically going to have changed since the last time I was there. Unfortunately, that's just not the case. I put them below Sakana on Broad St. Their sushi menu just isn't as extensive, prices aren't as low, and the food isn't as good, the decor isn't as nice, and there's limited parking unless you go into the neighboring movie theater lot. Having said that, the proximity to the movie theater, and having frozen yogurt right next door are both awesome. I will give them high marks for service. I've never had a bad experience from the wait staff here; they're prompt and pleasant.

Glad I tried this place. The miso soup was the best I have ever had. Had the bento box with teriyaki shrimp and it was very good. We also tried the udon stir fry noodles and they were a hit! Was a little pricey for lunch but the food is really fresh and the service was fantastic.

Love this place. Fugu roll is awesome. Service is always friendly. Great spot to catch dinner before a movie at the Marcus theater.

The rolls are a guaranteed 4 stars. I had the rainbow roll and godzilla roll. The latter was amazing. My friend had the angel smile roll which has scallops on the outside and crab on the inside. She said hers was great. The reason this place gets an extra star is due to their customer service. They were attentive and accommodating. They turned the tv to the channel we wanted. They asked if we were cold and needed to turn down the AC. They even gave us a military discount even though they said they didn't have one. Great food, great service....five stars.

The owner is amazing , she knows us because we love the Black Pearl with the white Tuna! The actual waitress not so much. Not so attentive. Wasn't so happy with her!

This place was great!!! Our waitress took time with us to explain sashimi, sushi, and rolls! We sampled a wide variety of foods and all were Delish!!! I will Definantly be back And we went on Saturday evening and the place was NOT busy at all!!! I suggest if you want sushi in the Pickerington area you give it a try!!!

The decor is nice and the service was good, but that's where it stopped. We didn't want to drive up to northwest columbus for good sushi since it was getting late for dinner, so we tried this place out since orange leaf is next door for a nice dessert option on a hot day. The sushi here was plain bad. The fish was served too warm, like it hadn't been kept correctly. Not to mention the knife-work was awful, the octopus looked like it was cut with a saw. Some pieces were cut too thick or big, others to thin or falling apart. Lacking consistency completely. The highlights were the two rolls we had, spicy tuna and their fugu roll (not actually fugu mind you, more of like lobster roll with mayo sauce). Also, one of the sashimi cuts (yellowtail or mackeral) was definitely past it's sell by date. No food poisoning though. Too bad, I was hoping to find acceptable sushi closer to home, but this is not it.

OK so let me preface this by saying this place was recommended to me by a fairly trustworthy source so I came in with high expectations. All of which were demolished as soon as my sushi came out. I ordered a handful of nigiri including scallop of questionable freshness topped with tobiko , yellowtail that looked like no yellowtail I have ever seen and tasted awful, sweet shrimp which was also mysteriously was covered in tobiko and tasted of nothing, and salmon roe that tasted like the liquid at the bottom of a refrigerator smells . Not to mention the rice was mushy, too sour, and had definitely not been made today. We didn't make it past those first few pieces.

My food was incredible. I am recently allergic to shellfish (idk), and they had a ton of options for me to try. There is even a chicken roll. Thank you. They do not offer a kids menu, but we found something for the little one to eat. We decided on Karage (their version is like a breaded popcorn chicken with a dipping sauce)...The 3 year old enjoyed it, but i felt it was dry and overcooked. There was a bit of an language barrier, but we made it work! Would go again...as soon as today! Did I mention they have REAL friend ice cream? Yeah, none of that cornflake and cinnamon business. The real, really real ice cream dipped in batter and deep fried. THANK YOU! I haven't been able to find a place that prepares it this way in years.

Fugu Sushi is one of my favorite restaurant. I think they have the Best Sushi in town! They have fresh live Japanese Oyster, Fresh Uni and Live Jumbo Scallop; which is hard to found in other restaurant. I have been to many American and Asian restaurant, I think they have best oyster in Central Columbus even taste way better then Mitchell steak house. Compared to other Sushi restaurant around Columbus area, they have best tempura shrimp, sushi rolls, specialty rolls and sashimi. Highly recommended this place to eat Japanese Food!!!!

Had dinner with a friend here recently, and what a great little gem. The sushi is great, as it should be, fantastic service, and a relaxing atmosphere. I'll be back again soon!

This had to be the worst experience I ever had anywhere. Right from the start just bad it took 10min to order our simple order because they didn't understand what we where saying. When I asked if they had yum yum for my salad she said yes and then she brings our ginger... I told her this is not what I ordered and she said they now don't carry yum yum... about 2 min later the manger comes over and asks why I don't like and told me to try it before she would take it off my order which I refused. Then when my order came out it was all wrong when I asked for them to remake it she said it would be 20 min before my other roll would be out because they gotten busy and I would have to wait and that I should just eat what they brought out. So when I got up to leave they tried to make me pay for the food they brought me that was wrong and I didn't touch. Just don't go here its the worst customer service ever.

MMMMMMMMMMMMM..............SUUUUUUUUUUUUSHI. So gave Fugu a short based on the reviews, and super thanks to those before me! Do you see those four and five star ratings? They're totally spot on. I typically only get sushi here, so I'm not a good source for some of their other meal options. Every roll we've received has been fresh and very well prepared. The flavor is excellent and never "fishy" which some places and sometimes lean towards. There's quite a bit of selection, every time we stop in we'll get our "usual's" as well as something new and different. So far we've never been dissatisfied. Service is always decent. They won't ignore you, nor will they hover. Just the right amount of attention. *sigh* Now I want some sushi, look what you've done to me. Give it a try. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. Sushi on, friend. Sushi on.

This place has great lunch specials, which is the only time I've been here. Sushi is always fresh and staff is courteous. Would definitely recommend, especially for their awesome lunch deals

I have been here probably around 20 times and will continue to go back. I remember when this place first opened and I was so excited to try it since I LOVE SUSHI!!!! The best part is, I live down the road from the place. I've only had sushi here so not sure how their non-sushi items are. They do have a great deal for lunch with bento boxes or ordering 2-3 rolls for a discounted price. They do have some awesome specialty rolls to choose from also. If you haven't been here for awhile, they have expanded their seating area.

In the area for work and hotel receptionist recommended so figured I'd check it out. Overall I was impressed service was a little slow and dull but once my fugu roll arrived all was forgotten. Delicious!

I've only had takeout Sushi here, but it is great. Always fresh and you can't go wrong with any of the rolls. Walking in the atmosphere is awesome. Would be a great place to sit and eat.

FuGu Roll Fat Lady Roll Spicy California Roll All divine. Such a lovely surprise. Best sushi in Columbus. And I'm picky about my sushi, having grown up in Southern California.

I was never a big fan of sushi until I went here! This little place has some of the best sushi around, yesterday we went there for lunch and ordered the Tiger Roll, Spicy Tuna, and Boston Roll. All were excellent but the Tiger roll is something I recommend unless wasabi scares you; first you are hit with the crunchy goodness of the tempura coating, then a hint of sweet in the form of a sauce they drizzle on top, all just before the wasabi kicks in! So delicious :) Also you haven't had cheesecake until you've had tempura coated cheesecake...don't think about it, just do it! YUM

My husband and I have dined here several times. The food is cheap in price, but not cheap in quality. I haven't been dissatisfied yet!

Nice Sushi Bar in Pickerington. They don't serve alcohol but you can bring it in with you which is nice and probably better on your wallet. The food was good, the service was good, I had sexy on the beach per my servers recommendation and the person I went with had shrimp tempura which was light and crispy. The place was clean and the price was reasonable. It is a little small that's the only downside I could list. I enjoyed it and will be back again.

First time to this establishment and we are coming back. We tried the Godzilla, Angel smile, and Fugu rolls and they were awesome. The staff was very courteous and took great care of us during out meal.

My mouth just started watering as I began thinking of this place again... That being said the sushi here is delish, and I'm pretty picky when it comes to my fish. I try to get something new every time. I do think that the philly roll has about twice as much cream cheese as I thing it should. But everything else is bursting with flavors. I haven't tried any of the kitchen food yet. I'm not sure I want to, since sushi bars usually don't have that level of perfection to their stir frys as they want to. It's a tiny little place, and I noticed that I caught one of the sushi chefs staring eerily, and I laughed when I read another review saying he stares too. Cause its true! But I guess since it's such a small place... i dunno. This review is making me hungry. Don't review hungry, people.

When you find yourself taking pictures of the sushi cause it's that beautiful....then you know you've found a treasure. Fugu Sushi has it all. Amazing sushi, friendly staff, great atmosphere and fair pricing. My sister and I were excited to see a new sushi place open up so close to and couldn't wait to try it! We both ordered a couple of rolls: Rainbow Roll, Dragon Roll, Panther Roll & Spicy Tuna. Each bite was better then the last. As we were waiting for our sushi to come out the sushi chef gave us both an appetizer "gift". It was strips of fried salmon skin on a green seaweed salad. It might not sound tasty, but it was one of the BEST things I've ever eaten!! And it's not even on menu! Try asking for it when you're there and see if the chef can make it for you. I will be making Fugu Sushi one of my regular places I visit and recommend.

I have been to Fu Gu on three occasions. Each time I have had great service and great sushi. So far I have ordered a spicy tuna roll, spicy scallop roll, shrimp tempura roll, salmon roll, and lovely roll. I found the rolls to be well rolled ( didn't fall apart when I picked them up with chopsticks) the fish was fresh, smelled fantastic and the rolls were very well presented. The shrimp temura roll and lovely roll came with a drizzle of sauce but were not overdressed and the fish was not overshadowed. They have the option of soybean paper for those who don't care for nori. The sushi chef was friendly and answered questions happily. The waitress was attentive but not intrusive. The restaurant was busy but never felt cramped, and we were never rushed. They have an extensive menu including quite a few cooked entrees and options other than sushi. They have quick and easy take out options as well, and they do a lovely job of packaging the sushi. The included individual cups of soy sauce, ginger and wasabi without my having to ask which I appreciated. Prices are reasonable and the portions are good.

My wife and I have been to Fugu Sushi many times and have tried most of their rolls throughout the last year. I've been to many Central Ohio Sushi Restaurants and this is my favorite. Although its a smaller restaurant, we've never had to wait a long time to get our food. Fugu Sushi's atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. The staff is very attentive and friendly. Their location is nice, being adjacent to Orange Leaf ( which is a great place to visit afterwards ). In my opinion, If you're looking for great sushi, this is the place to try!

I've been here a few times only because I was nearby and needed a Sushi Fix. I would say the Love Boat is reasonably priced. However the Specialty Rolls were always "loosely rolled", which obviously makes a different in taste/chewing. Sashimi were in small cuts in comparison to other Sushi Restaurants in Columbus. Definitely a "close to home" type of restaurant. Especially for Sushi near the areas of Pickerington, Reynoldsburg, and Blacklick anyways.

  • Mike M.

Pickerington has another Sushi restaurant and I have to say I am excited about the possibilities of Fugu Sushi. I stopped in after a movie and ordered the Love Boat sampler. Service was very quick, friendly and attentive. We ordered the Love Boat and I must say the presentation was excellent. As for the sushi, it was very tasty and fresh. The temperature was good but could have been a tad cooler for my taste. The special roll (chef's choice) was wonderful. My only critical comment would be that the sushi rice itself was not as packed as I've had elsewhere. It fell apart when you dipped it on the soy sauce or even if you just picked it up with your chopsticks. I'm very excited to go back and give it another try. The range of special rolls offered it quite extensive. I want this place to succeed since it is so much closer to my home than my normal sushi haunts.

Absolutely delicious! We are new to sushi, so the friendly waitstaff helped us with descriptions and suggestions. We tried the salmon roll and the tempura spicy tuna roll. Both were very tasty, the fish was buttery smooth. We also tried the udon w/ shrimp and tempura bento box. We will return to Fugu, and will continue to try different items on the menu.

  • Kenny D.

The food is good, especially the fugu sushi. But a couple of improvements would pick up the place. It has such a nice ambiance overall that being served tea in a can (Lipton, seriously?) was a downer. But the worst was the wait time. It took them so long to make the food that I returned to work for an 8 hour shift and came back and it was almost ready! Actually it took about an hour, waaay too long. The waiter apologized and blamed it on the crowd, but I am not buying it because on my prior visit the wait was equally as long with no crowd. I will be back because the food is worth it, but only when I have even time to spare. Men, go clean cut because you will need to shave again by the time you finally get out of there!

Yuck. Oily noodles, dry rice, as fake as you can get crab. Not worth going twice.

  • Kevin S.

We just ate here for the first time today. Wow, finally a good sushi place has come to Pickerington! The sushi was fresh and reasonably priced. We thought we would try something different so we tried the Surume-ika. Aka grilled squid with Ginger sauce. Excellent app and not to filling, and the sauce was spot on. We had four different rolls and all were very good. I gave 4 instead of 5 because they do not have a liquor license yet, but you can BYOB from what the server said. I will have to hit the store and bring my own Sapporo next time.

You have to DEFINATELY try this place if you like Sushi ... the prices are very affordable for the amount of food you get. The STAFF is so nice and accomidating .... they close @ 10:00 p.m., which we found out when we showed up @ 9:45 pm this past Saturday, BUT they actually told us to come in, we will seat you and we did "NOT" feel like they were rushing us out with our late arriavl !!! I went for the 1st time last Thursday (4/19) and was back on Saturday (4/21) and I'm ready to go back again !!! I HOPE this place NEVER closes, I will be DEVISTATED !!! I LOVE the FuGu Specialty roll, you have to try it !!!

  • Mike T.

I like the sushi you can get from here and their prices aren't too bad. The service is good and they make recommendations so you keep trying new things. I also love their Bento Boxes for lunch time. I wish I was in their area during lunch more often.

  • Jay R.

The fish could be fresher. I'm a big fan of sushi, and I like going to Fugu. Unfortunately, I've restricted my ordering to just rolls, as the sushi isn't always as good as I'd like. The rolls are always very tasty, though, and the service is always great.

  • Joshua H.

Decor is great, not a huge place, but not to small either. Service is prompt, very considerate. The sushi is fresh for the area, rolls are delicious, very tasty and I love ginger and they aren't greedy with it!!! Excellent sushi!!!

  • C S.

We ate at Fugu tonight and with our drinks being from a soda can and not a soda fountain, we figured they were new. We found out later that they had been open awhile. The sushi was very good but a littler overpriced. The restaurant was clean and had good service.

Our Thai sea food soup and spicy tuna sushi were delicious.

  • Christina B.

I have had FuGu Sushi on two occasions and both were wonderful. The rolls were generous and tasty, the entrees were excellent! The service is much better than Sushi Thai's. The decor and lighting are dark and contemporary, but the space isn't very large. Very intimate. Sets a nice mood for date night;) Only reason I didn't give 4stars is because they serve canned soda and bottled tea (they do pour into glasses for you)...but it sorta cheapens the dining experience...and they do not serve alcohol:( But, this will not stop us from going back again and again:)

    (4)
  • Sam D.

One of the better sushi places I have been to in the Columbus area. The restaurant is a bit small but the menu is decent and has a wide variety of items to choose from. It is also very reasonable priced compared to similar sushi restaurants in the Columbus area serving similar quality fish.

    (4)
  • The S.

This was the worst sushi my wife and I have ever eaten. From the strangely flavorless deep fried vegetables to the weird waiter that stared at us while we ate, I do not recommend.
