A while back, my husband and I ate at Nagoya for the first time. The experience was great--the chef was entertaining and we had the end seats so we had enough room. The second time we decided to go there, the experience was HORRIBLE. We were seated at the rounded edge of the table and had 2 big guys next to us on the right. Clearly, we were packed in like sardines, with two more empty chairs next to us on the left. I thought for sure they wouldn't seat anyone else at our table after seeing how ridiculously squished we already were, but then, of course, they brought two more people to sit there. It was definitely not comfortable to have 10 people at the table, especially when about half of them were tall, larger men. Since I had the seat on the corner, I was squished back away from the table. There was NO room for my plate on the table and if I would have pushed my chair in closer (so I could actually reach the table), I would have knocked knees with both my husband and the guy on the other side. I ended up taking my plate and putting it in my lap--sitting about a foot away from the table. The staff clearly saw this, and did nothing about it--they were too busy filming for a commercial in which the tables only had 6-8 people at most! I ate my entire meal like this because there just wasn't enough room. Since I couldn't reach anything on the table, I had to ask my husband to pass things to me. This sucked, especially when paying 70 bucks for a meal! For that amount of money, I at least want to be comfortable and not hitting into the guy next to me. Just be aware that if you go there, they will seat you at a small table for 10 and you will be squished. To make matters worse, the chef was extremely unenthusiastic. He hardly did any "tricks" and he barely said a word the entire time. I should also point out that he got several of the orders wrong, as well. I wrote Nagoya a comment on their website, but never heard back. I'm assuming I won't--especially after reading another comment about the owner and how he was rude and did not care about the customers. My suggestion would be to save your 70 bucks and go eat somewhere else where you will be comfortable. Surely, there are a lot of other great restaurants in Toledo where you can spend 70 bucks and have a wonderful dining experience. My husband and I will not be going back to Nagoya.

My girlfriend and I went here on Sunday around 6pm. We thought that would be plenty of time to get a couple appetizers, some sushi, and make our 7:20 movie. It wasn't. We sat in the bar area because there was a wait for the dining room. I only noticed one server for the entire bar area (probably about 10 tables). I may be wrong, but I only saw her. She was working as hard as she possibly could to cover everyone, but it wasn't enough manpower. Our appetizers and drinks came VERY fast. Then came the sushi...about 45 minutes later. I know that sushi can take time, but I've eaten sushi at several places and it rarely takes as long as it did here. The sushi was very good. The seared sesame tuna appetizer was meh. I actually prefer the seared tuna at a national chain steakhouse - if that tells you anything. The dumpling appetizer was really good. Overall, I'd give the food 4 stars. The service was 2 stars (but not for lack of trying...it's actually poor management). I wasn't super impressed with the atmosphere. It was very modern and the high ceilings make it feel like an upscale cafeteria. I dropped $140 on a couple appetizers, sushi, 2 beers, and 1 cocktail. It didn't seem worth it and my girlfriend and I both agreed that we probably wouldn't be back. I don't hate the place, I just feel like there are more economical options for the same quality of food.

Great food and great service! The restaurant was open, modern, and warm. The chef and waitress were very friendly and fun. The family had a great experience.

Went there awhile back. It was early evening before 5 pm on a weekday. Greeted and seated quickly. Looked over the menu and decided to have the hibachi grill chicken. Me and my wife both had chicken my daughter is vegetarian and just ordered the vegetables. My youngest daughter was hesitant about the menu and wasn't sure she would like it. So we informed the waiter that she would have a few bites off my plate. The waiter informed us we would be charged $7.00 (I believe that was the amount) for sharing. Wait a second this isn't a buffet and we are not receiving any extra food but I am being charged extra for her to put a fork on my plate. Instead of arguing with the waiter I said screw it and just ordered her the same as me and my wife had figuring we would take the leftovers home. The chef was entertaining and friendly. But at $15+ per plate for a small piece of boneless chicken breast and some veggies and rice it's very pricey. Basically your paying for the experience and to be entertained. If it wasn't for the Yummy Yummy sauce the food is bland. Also I'm not a big fan of sitting with other folks I don't know at the same table. This restraunt is just not for me. I can think of at least 50 other places I would rather eat at.

I had a groupon so a friend and I went to check out the Sushi. They have weird closed hours between lunch and dinner. (I hate that. We went early to avoid the rush and ended up wandering around for ages!) The inside was very nice. Very Clean. We were seated quickly, not far from the Sushi Bar. Our waitress was great, very helpful. We ordered our Sushi and then waited. And waited. And waited. Then the people seated next to us got their food. That was cooked Hibachi and came before our non cooked food even though they came in 10 minutes after us. That was fine. Then we looked over in another area and those people who came in long after we did already had their sushi. At this point I was starving and considering eating my chopsticks, as I watched the FIVE SUSHI CHEFS prepare everyone else's meal. My friend ordered an assortment of Nigiri. I stuck mostly to Sushi. The Nigiri was out of this world freaking unbelievable. The fish was literally like butter. I could cut it with a chopstick. IT WAS SO GOOD. (its worth screaming!) Every single piece made my eyes go cross from joy. My sushi was also good. It was fine. Good. Nothing compared to the Nigiri though. It was AMAZING. Based on our wait I would have rated this a little lower. Based on the food? Straight five! I'll be back.

I have eaten here many times...ONLY because large groups seem to enjoy it. The next time I will stick with a side salad, or beef negimaki. Those are the only items that I have had that I have enjoyed. I have tried it all....sushi, hibachi, lettuce wraps, appetizers.... The food is average at best. Everything tastes the same...and not good. I had a piece of sushi here that I literally wanted to spit out onto my plate because it tasted old and soggy. I couldn't put another piece of sushi in my mouth for about a year after that. The thought of that piece of Nagoya fish made me nauseous to think about doing it again (I typically LOVE sushi). Then, after you muddle through your average meal, you get your bill, and ponder all of the more wonderful places to eat in town for that kind of money. I do, however, enjoy their beef negimaki, which is an appetizer with beef wrapped around green onions. Delicious. Oh, and the chefs are entertaining.

The first time I had Japanese was in Houston at Ichiban. Hibachi is such a wonderful concept and the chefs really do make or break the deal. The crazier the chef the better:) Nagoya has great ambiance and an attentive staff. The sushi menu is extensive and the Hibachi chefs are top notch. Alongwith the usual 'Japanese coke' , butter fly jokes and the fireworks, the chefs(especially Tony) here seem to have a genuinely good sense of humor. Annie is a very good manager and takes care of the guests very well. If you have a loved one's birthday coming up, Nagoya should definitely be on your list to consider. My wife absolutely enjoyed hers at Nagoya and Annie was a terrific host who helped make the evening even more special.

So I've been here a few times for celebrations. Always sat with a large group around the hibachi grill, flaming volcano, flying shrimp, what have you. In terms of the food, it was good. Smaller portions than Sakura for sure, but good. But if you don't want that experience, maybe because it's a date night and you don't want to be crammed around a grill with strangers and have food thrown at you, Nagoya was a gross disappointment. Turns out, when you don't sit in the hibachi section, you can't order hibachi food. Instead you order off a menu of overpriced/small portioned options. There sushi is average at best, and you can do so much better in the area. Also, we ordered the lettuce wrap appetizer, and it came out cool. Not warm. Not cold. But like a weird temperature where you feel entirely uncomfortable ingesting meat.

I am always up for a night of hibachi, and it is entertaining. I've been here a few times, and one thing that I can always count on is that it takes a long time, and it is a lot of food. I have found the chefs to always be nice. The servers can be slow. There is always way too much salad dressing, so it's more of a salad soup. I usually go for steak or fillet and scallops-- the steak is usually done a little more than I request, but is still flavorful. Scallops are juicy, a good size, and have a nice sear. The fried rice is delicious though a bit salty, and the veggies are a nice way to round off the meal. Since this is the midwest, we usually end up talking to the other parties sharing the table. In general, though there are issues, I always have a nice time, and I do go back often.

My mom and I ordered sushi to go from the bar. While we waited, we ordered a sushi appetizer and couple of cokes. Overall, I was happy with the sushi. I would say it was above average sushi, but just a tiny bit on the pricey side for the size of the rolls. The only thing I was a little disappointed about was the female bartender wasn't very friendly. Yes, I understand she wasn't making money off of alcoholic drinks from us, but we still ordered $100 worth of sushi.. She could have been friendlier.

Have only had the sushi (not Habachi) and it's good. It's definitely the second best in the Toledo area. Can't remember what I have eaten but I usually enjoy what I'm ordering. Drinks are great: wasabi Bloody Mary is the best Bloody Mary I've ever had.

I have eaten here several times over the last few years. The food is always solid and the Chefs seem to know some different tricks and dialog than what I have seen/ heard in other Japanese Steak Houses. Overall - This remains a great choice for the area.

I have been here a handful of times, and I am not really sure why I keep coming back here other than it is usually cold when I am in town and it is the closest restaurant to my hotel. Some of the appetizers are ok. The hibachi grill entrees are ok. But my real problem is with the entrees. I am usually end up eating here when I am in town alone on business travel. So I also usually end up sitting at the bar by myself or a small table. The only problem is that they won't serve hibachi entrees unless you are seated in that section. I think I need to get over myself and just sit there if I decide to go back again. Today, I received my third ridiculously overcooked entree in the last couple of months. I actually mentioned to my server that my scallops were way beyond overcooked. She apologized and said that she would let someone know and take care of it. I guess taking care of it meant that she would avoid me and hand me off to a different server. After about 20 minutes and halfway through my second rubber like scallop, I gave in. I put my utensils up. My new server came by and almost insisted on wrapping my food to go for me. I said no a few times. Then, she suggested that I must have been saving room for dessert... Seriously? No thanks. In her defense, she probably had no idea, but it just turned into a really annoying "check out" on top of a pretty crappy meal.

Instead of telling you what happened I am going to tell you what to do for a party of four out for the evening. Go to Nagoya, walk in, tell them you want the sushi bar, sit down, enjoy yourself, and order for the four of you the boat of "Whatever the chef wants to make" wow!!!! It was incredible it took over the table and made a great statement to my friends - thank you for joining us tonight. Drinks were great but the sticky rice "sushi" and the rolls and raw fish was awesome. Let them take care of you and keep a look out for the groupon that they do every so often. I will be returning soon hungry for more.

This is my 4th or 5th time here and would have given 3* but today was much better. The calamari was a little chewy but that's not surprising. We had both Nigiri and Sashimi sushi. Both were very good. Nice big fresh slices of Sushi were served. The soup and salad were also fresh and tasty. I wonder if the food was better because it's Mother's Day? Will have to come back and try again. Excellent service. Tried to return but they close at 9:00 p.m.. Ended up at the other Sushi restaurant on the south side of Levis Commons. They're open till 10:00p.m. Not sure of the name and not listed in Yelp. Good sushi but pricey.

Wish I could give this place a rating but apparently they close in the middle of the day. We figured for an early dinner/late lunch in time to catch our 5:00 movie on a Saturday. We walked in, waited by the hostess stand for 3-5 minutes. NO ONE, so much as approached us. So we do a little investigating, because there are people eating, so there must be someone working. We found another hostess stand clear across the restaurant where 4 employees were hovering. We asked for a table and the guy told us that they close at 2pm to reopen at 4:30. What?? A) it's a Saturday B) Levi's commons is having an entire fair, and you're going to CLOSE for 2.5 hours?

As far as hibachi places go, it wasn't the best place I've ever been to but it's the best in the Toledo area. There are plenty of hibachi grills so we were seated fairly quickly. But they didn't have enough hibachi chefs so we waited a long time for our food (the waitress was very apologetic). It may be good to make a reservation instead of just walking in (they staff the hibachi chefs based on reservations so if you walk in, there may not be as many chefs on hand and will result in a longer wait). The hibachi food was good but I wouldn't go there for sushi. There wasn't much of a selection of rolls and they were a little expensive. The hibachi show was good and they had different tricks from other hibachi places but the chef wasn't very friendly. In fact, even though the food was good, the chef is one of the reasons that I would hesitate on going back.

This is the worst Japanese Steak and Sushi place I have ever eaten at and I have eaten in many with my travels to over 16 states. The cooks entertainment while cooking was poor and could not create a onion volcano. This cook also pressed on the meat while cooking and then served raw scallops. No garlic was used when cooking. Ginger dressing was watering and lacked ginger flavor and was sour. Fried rice was sweet. Sushi was loosely rolled along with I ordered 2 rolls and received one prior to the meal and the 2nd one after hibachi was cooked and served and had to ask for chop sticks. The sauces was watering and lacked traditional flavors along with the no Asian mustard for a choice. Green tea was weak without normal green tea flavor. The 'wasabi' did not contain heat and could eat it by itself with no heat affect.

One word: Swordfish. Freaking amazing. Melts in your mouth. Great sushi, a little high priced but a good time with a group for a special occasion.

We dined with friends here for our first time. I'm so glad we went! We went around 9:45 at night and they close at 10:00 unknowingly to us. They were very friendly and said it was no problem. The restaurant was hoppin' when we got there and the bar was busy. The interior is very appealing. The food was great. Prices are acceptable considering the quality. We had sushi and shared a dinner. I enjoyed their sake a lot too, much better than some that I've had in the past.

I have eaten at hibachi themed restaurants many times around the country and even in Mexico. I like them. Except for this one. I went to a group holiday party at Nagoya last night. We had reservations that were in place weeks ago. Yet, when we got there, all of us had to wait in the crowded bar for 25 minutes. It was too crowded to get a drink. When we were finally seated, it was clear that we were the first customers at our tables for the evening. They could have seated us right away. The restaurant was two thirds full, but there were not enough wait-staff. So we had to wait another ten minutes to order a drink and it was 45 minutes after our initial arrival before the drinks arrived. It took even longer to get a glass of ice water. When I asked the waitress for water the third time she gave a plaintive, overworked look and explained that she had not forgotten. This is just the type of restaurant where one has to ask three times. The food was bad. The misu soup was too weak and without flavor (other than the flavor of the water from which it was made). The lettuce in the salad was brown on the edges. The two shrimp for an appetizer were small and overcooked. When we were waiting in the bar, the floor was sticky. It had not been mopped in a while. The bathroom was worse. The floor was so sticky that my shoes made noise when I walked. There were no paper towels in the bathroom. It cost $86 for my wife and I to have dinner and three drinks. The food was uninspired. I don't blame the wait-staff or the cook. The management is the problem. They managed to offer bad service, bad food, and unclean facilities. They were also overpriced.

Service: 5 Ambiance: 4 Food: 2.5 In town for biz, staying at the hotel across the street. The two guys I was with have been raving about this place since we planned the trip, so naturally, we ended up here. To begin, the soup....they brought out what appeared to be a miso soup. In the servers defense, I did not tell her I ate a plant based diet (mostly....god i love seafood...) but the "miso" was hot chicken broth. Lazy. Broth is the basis of a soup - not a soup Great place to interject - the service was incredible. The server made sure to get our app orders, answered my questions on every ingredient on the menu (I had a lot), brought out drinks quick, and was very pleasant. Furthermore, the hibachi chef was super entertaining, and catered to the 2-year-old there on her birthday.(props) That being said, my salmon was VERY overcooked. To put it in perspective, my salmon hit the flat-top 5 minutes before the chicken, and the chicken came off the heat before my salmon (he called the chicken "Japanese Seagulls"). Not sure what to think about this grilling technique - was my salmon more disease ridden than factory farmed chicken that they needed scorch the hell out of it? Or did the chef just not know how to cook fish? I have my fingers crossed for the latter... At the end of the day, I had a great time. Service was great, show was great, drinks and service were phenomenal, but as a self-proclaimed foodie, I cannot vouch for their food.

I've been here twice...and I've been disappointed twice. Food was just OK. It is most definitely not worth the price you pay. However, the worst thing about Nagoya is not the overpriced, mediocre food. Rather, it is the horrible service (don't even get me started!).

A group of 8 of us decided to eat here for dinner tonight. I was sorely disappointed. I chose to order the sushi as apposed to the hibachi grill. The sushi was extremely overpriced (if you wanted more than a California roll around $12), and certainly not that best I have ever had. I just went to a really nice and well known sushi restaurant in Chicago last week that was priced better! They seemed to have at least 6 different kinds of rolls on the menu that were a California roll but with different types of sauce on top. Be a little more creative! The main thing that really turned me off was the service. Our server never once came by to refill our water glasses, acted irritated when we asked for a sushi menu, and neglected to clear the table until we thought we were forgotten about and went to the host stand to try to get our table cleared and our checks. We probably sat there for a good 20 minutes!! Instead of getting the manager for us, the host just found the waitress, who then proceeded to take about 4 of our plates off of the table. She even neglected to take my check; I had to physically hunt her down to pay her. My friends told me to dine and ditch, but I would have had such a guilty conscious! The worst part: because there were 8 of us, so 18% gratuity was automatically added. Honestly, I don't even know if I would have given 10%, and I am usually a very nice tipper! However, my friends who got the hibachi grill enjoyed it, and the hibachi chef was entertaining. I'm not from the area, but if I'm ever back in that neck of the woods they will not be receiving my business again!!

One of the reasons I became interested in Japanese culture was a hibachi grill place called En that went through some legal issues and a move before closing again some years back. I was sad to see it go. Luckily, local(ish) chain, Nagoya, came into Perrysburg and even managed to get some of the same servers while serving up very tasty, if expensive, hibachi style cooking. A favorite of my Mom who adores the sushi, we like to hit it up around the holidays for some tasty tableside entertainment. Or normally we do anyways. However, this last Xmas eve, we came in at a very bad time. The restaurant is quite large in size, with a number of hibachi tables in the area in the middle. Though the restaurant didn't look -that- busy, every single seat at the hibachi tables was full and the wait was expected to be an hour. Well, not a problem. We can sit in the dining area and have a new experience! And in many ways, this was a good thing. After all, if you have seen the hibachi performance once, you have seen it a hundred times. Sure, each chef has his own quirks and some are better than others. However, I rarely see anything truly new. Moreover, by necessity, the grill tables are designed so that you sit in a row, which makes conversation a bit difficult. Table space itself is pretty slim so that the chef can reach over the grill to give you food, but it quickly becomes cluttered if you get any sushi or side dishes to accompany the meal. In short, the grill is where the action is, but it can be noisy and inconvenient. Therefore, sitting at a comfortable table/booth behind some sloping modern screens that cut out a lot of the hibachi table din was a pleasant alternative enabling conversation and ensuring elbow room. The only problem is something we didn't realize until being seated - you can't order hibachi at the tables, and the normal menu is extremely expensive. If you can't have the hibachi, at dinner, choices are limited to some teriyaki plates of a similar price, or some more expensive (though admittedly fascinating) dishes cooked in the back. (lunch has better prices and some actual Japanese food - donburi!) Filet mignon with sweet potato, shiitake, and asparagus - lobster with macadamia nuts and glass noodles - they sound amazing, but at $30+, I couldn't bring myself to order one. Especially not since I was craving the ginger sauce served with hibachi meals. Lucky for me, our server was apologetic about the situation and explained that he could turn a "teriyaki" into a hibachi meal. At around $20, this is still too expensive, but at least it was the price range I expected on entering. However, because it would be cooked in the back, it would not be exactly the same nor would it include the same vegetables, I was told. Although the rest of my family decided to give the teriyaki itself a try, I did opt to let the kitchen try their hands at teppanyaki... and was very pleased by the results. Honestly, I'm not exactly sure what was changed. The vegetables did have a slightly different texture and a little less sauce I think, but I didn't find that a negative in the least. The steak was still juicy and tender, and the vegetables crisp and zesty. Overall, I very much enjoyed it and really didn't miss the entertainment since I could talk to and share sushi with my family much easier. Though very American (i.e. tons of stuff in it), the sushi here is very good. We usually get makizushi (rolls) though my dad sometimes has the sashimi dishes, which he enjoys. Dessert is also worth debating. Like a lot of Japanese places, they have mochi ice cream (ice cream enveloped in rice flour). When it's fresh (which it usually is here), it has a gooey outside and creamy inside. Personally, I prefer the tempura ice cream. This is vanilla ice cream wrapped in a sweet pancake and tempura fried. It's one of my favorite bad-for-me indulgences, and really ought to be split given the size of the serving. If you come on your birthday, you can get the fried ice cream and some fruit, along with a song and photo with the chef. Note, though, that this will cost you $11... There's a charge for bringing your own cake too. A $1 extra if you want an employee to serve... Service varies. Like I mentioned, there is at least one person I recognize (and who always recognizes us) from the old En. She's a wonderful lady and a great server. So too the guy we had this last visit! However, we've had some servers who are quite curt and disinterested. Luck of the draw, I suppose. For a special night out, Nagoya is worth a try. It is expensive (you can get vegetarian hibachi for $12 but otherwise chicken is the cheapest at $17) but for special events or a few sushi rolls, it's worth a go. You also might try it at lunch, which has better prices and more typically Japanese menu. Be sure to check out the "adopt an animal" on the website!

This is my sushi destination in Toledo. There's a good selection of both cooked and raw sushi. Every type of sushi I've ordered has been spot-on excellent. The quality cannot be beat. It's expensive, but it's worth the quality you get. I like going for lunch, but it's not open every day for lunch. If you like sushi, you are going to like Nagoya. Also the hibachi food is good.

I've been here a couple of times with my coworkers and every trip has been an experience. Lunch bento boxes are a good deal for the large portion served. The Hibachi grill is a must for larger groups. The chefs are friendly, interactive, and hilarious.

  • Stacy P.

Hibachi grill is grossly overpriced. You wait forever for your food and then by time you get your veggies and meat you are full from rice. Food tastes good at first, but be prepared for a stomach ache later. Sushi and appetizers are the only items that I ever order now. Only reason why I ever go back is to accommodate a group of people going out (people like the hibachi show).

My favorite sushi. Everything is absolutely amazing!! Hibachi is good but the last few times our chef hasn't been the best, you cannot be a quiet hibachi chef so I was a little disappointed but the food is so good you kinda forget about it. I go more for sushi than anything. Barb's roll and the Ahi Crunch roll make my life complete. They are a must every time I go.

  • Scott L.

The Hibachi is always entertaining and my food has always been cooked perfectly. I'd recommend the fillet and scallops. Also, they're sushi is good, but extremely slow. Twice now it's been delivered half way thru dinner. The second time I actually called ahead and ordered it...this time they just beat my dinner.

I stopped by Nagoya with my family recently and it made me a fan by the end of the meal. It is a pretty standard Japanese steakhouse with hibachi and sushi, but I really enjoyed the food. It was all very tasty. If you've ever been to a hibachi joint before, you know the drill: an Asian dude comes out and makes an onion volcano, catches an egg with a spatula, tosses food into your mouth, etc. I didn't see any new tricks that I haven't seen before elsewhere, but the chef was likable and he did a great job. The decor is really nice and the service was good too, but the star of the show was the food. The vegetables were all fresh and delicious, the protein was lean and cooked perfectly, and I really liked the fried rice and house soup too. The sushi menu looked impressive, but I didn't partake on this trip. I'll have to indulge next time, and there definitely will be a next time.

Cute place and conveniently right across the way from my hotel. However, traveling from Chicago, I am used to pretty good sushi. The three rolls I ordered were just ok. The fish tasted gross and they put fake crab in my Alaskan roll. I would not recommend this place for sushi but hibachi looked fun!

This place could not be more convenient to the Hilton Garden Inn, right across the pathway. Very beautiful inside with tons of seating options. I preferred the sushi bar of course. I naturally chose the large can of Sapporo to pair with my sushi. Very cold. Very delicious. However, $7.50 was quite a surprise. My lovely hometown hosts it for $3.00. I'm spoiled. Anyways..... The food is nice and the service was excellent. I was envious of the larger groups of people who were clearly loudly enjoying the hibachi. And I saw a ginormous BOAT of hand rolls that made want to round up 8 of my closest friends right away! Well done Perrysburg.

We stopped after finding on Yelp, and was pleasantly surprised at how nice the place was. Service was good, sushi was good, and couldn't see what all the complaints were about. Would come back if in the area again.

For the price, only ok for me. I ordered an avocado salad, beef negimaki and the sea bass shisoyaki to go. Beef was really good and tender, sea bass was tough and tasted like it was cooked a bit too long, and the salad was kind of a joke. It was nice they gave you an entire sliced avocado with the mixed greens but for $10, made no sense. I may eat here again if I'm too lazy to go anywhere other than go across the street from the Hilton, but that's about it.

I come here frequently whether it's just for sushi, hibachi, or just a traditional dinner and have never once had a complaint. The food is always excellent along with the service!

I love this place. They have great food, really good cuts of steak. I always get the filet mignon and chicken with the fried rice. You have to do the hibachi grill. Just the best Asian place I have found in toledo

Oh Levis Commons! I was excited to hear that a Hibachi place came to Perrysburg. I ordered the bento box lunch. It was ALOT of food but not what I expected. Service was great and no wonder - there was barely anyone there at lunch which speaks volumes! Next time, I think I'll just try the Hibachi grill that way it's made fresh to order!

Went to Nagoya last night for a Holiday dinner with family. It was my first time there. We had made reservations in advance. The appetizers were great and our hibachi chef was very talented and friendly. Everything was great and I will be back again soon.

This spot was chosen by two locals who claim to know of a great sushi place. I'm from SoCal, and the last time someone made a similar comment about a Mexican restaurant out here, it failed...horribly. But these guys had planned the night to include a night at a comedy club and Nagoya, which happened to be within a few steps of this restaurant. And since their pick from the night before was a winner, they had gained some of my trust. And what a good choice it was indeed! Right as you walk in, you're quickly aware of the modernized decor and spacious layout. We were told there was a 10 minute wait. One of the guys wanted to grab us a drink so we followed him to the bar. As we walked further in I noticed the sushi bar nicely tucked away in the back with a few empty seats. We decided to go ahead grab those. As always, the bar, for alcohol or sushi, is the best spot in the place! We were immediately attended to the minute we sat down. I'm going to be honest with you, I can't recall what we ate. Between the two guys ordering rounds of drinks and food, one after another, and me and just nodding with my mouth full,...seriously, I couldn't keep track. But every, roll, every sashimi was fresh and delicious. Whether your all about the quality or just love a tasty, gut busting roll, this place will delight you!

This place used to be better, and I think you get much better service sitting at the hibachi than you would sitting at a booth or table elsewhere. Its a shame they will not let you order hibachi entrees unless you are physically sitting at a hibachi. For this reason alone, I will always pick Sakura over Nagoya. The potstickers tasted like they were fried in old oil and the beef appetizer tasted just meh, I have had it better at every other restaurant in toledo that serves it. Since I could not order Hibachi, I ordered the next closest thing. It was just meh. Crazy because for the same price of our meals, we could have went to Mancys. The food here for the taste and quality is not in line with its cost. I probably won't be back.

Great atmosphere! Sushi was very fresh and drinks were delicious. However, service was a tad bit slow.

Meh. I've had better. But it was still pretty tasty. I'd be more surprised that it's big space was so empty on a weekday lunch period if it was anywhere other than Perrysburg, OH. There's just not a lot of people around to fill that space. The bento box lunch that my wife got looked pretty awesome. She said it tasted pretty good. When you live on sushi out in Chicago, though, it's hard to find something comparable in small towns.

I've eaten sushi all over the country, including some of the freshest right off the boat in LA and NYC. Not bad, especially for Toledo, but their rolls are DRENCHED in a bath of mayo sauce. So beware, when I see they have a sauce on top, I assume it will be a squiggle down the roll, not the entire roll engulfed in a bath.

Had dinner here on 02/08/10. Sat at the sushi bar, the service was fast and sushi was great. The Nagoya rolls are full of flavor and come nice and warm. Next time I am in town I will come back again!!!

In few words, excellent decor! Great food! The chef didn't do a lot of tricks though. IMHO, Sushi was done better than the steak.

Honestly, I had really low standards for this place because Perrysburg is nowhere near water. How good can the fish actually be? Before this I committed myself to never trying anything ethnic in Ohio, because I doubted the quality. Walking into this restaurant, it was packed on a weekend evening and was very "happening." I had to wait a bit, but it was well worth it over all. The sushi was average but the service was decent. From what I'm used to in Los Angeles, it was decently priced (but could be super expensive for Ohio standards). The best part was simply the dessert. We ordered chocolate lava cake and DAMN, that thing just melts in your mouth on contact. It was so delicious! Being on a student's budget, I think this will be a regular place to stop by for dessert.

Just came home - had a great time. We opted for the Hibachi Meal and it was entertaining They had an open bar while you waited for the table to be open and live music was playing tonight. The portions were huge and everyone opted for take-home boxes. Our Chef was "Dave" and he worked quickly to prepare the food and to engage all of the guests in an entertaining manner. I highly encourage the "Happy Buddha" drink - it was very sweet and you got to take the buddha mug home as an added gift! ($10 and well worth it).

I have eaten here only once and had sushi. YOM!!! Nagoya definitely ranks at the top for quality and flavor, but so do the prices. If you're not willing to throw away money, there are other sushi restaurants that are just as delicious. Kyoto Ka on Central Ave is my personal Toledo favorite. Parking is kind of a pain in the ass when it's busy.

I LOVE NAGOYA!!! I have been here several times and the food is amazing! I read another review saying their sushi menu only has 6 items....turn the menu over Einstein....they have over 20 options! The service is top notch and the hibachi chefs are GREAT! I tried the "other" Japenese Rest. in Toledo and it's not HALF as good. Then I had a friend who worked at both locations and said Sakura I think is the name gets cheap meat and seafood....you can tell! LOVE LOVE LOVE NAGOYA!!!

GO TO NAGOYA! That's all I have to say, its more than just sushi, its more than just a steakhouse. I have been there several times in the past few months and absolutely can't stop ordering the same thing over and over again, its just that good. If you can make your way over to the Sushi Bar and sit with Rayza, then you are especially in for a treat. But even if he is not there, everybody is exceptional at what they do and you should be thankful to have this restaurant in Northwest Ohio. But there is a sushi roll called the Nagoya Roll. What a name to live up to right? But it does so in a magical way, this warm cooked sushi roll blended with the best of flavors can warm you to your core. I knew it was going to be good before it landed on the bar in front of me. But when I took the chopsticks and placed it in my mouth (mind you, it doesn't need Wasabi, pickled ginger or soy sauce) a tear came to my eye. I felt loved, warm and amazed. Sounds like something else, I dare not to say. That wasn't the first part, but it could have been the only thing I ate and been completely satisfied. Before that, Rayza gave me a seaweed and cuttlefish salad to clean my pallet. My reaction? I rolled my eyes back and looked to the ceiling as I emphasize, "WONDERFUL!" The Spicy Tuna Roll, never had a bad experience anywhere, Nagoya is no different. Love Beef Teriyaki? Then you might end up proposing to Nagoya's version. The Fried Calamari, its definitely fresh and delicious. I want to write so much more, but I am already hungry. So let's talk about drinks. The Happy Buddha was delicious, not to strong, but definitely one for those who enjoy drinking for the taste, not the punch. For those that want the punch, the Absolute Mess Martini is your ticket to Paradise. The facility itself is beautiful, you walk in an sea the receptionist standing infront of a wall that includes a curved saltwater fish tank. Through the tank you can see flames being thrown by the Hibachi chefs as you can hear the patrons laughter and amazement. To the right, a bar/lounge that I could probably relax at everyday, nice and quiet for conversation and just to sit down and watch the sports. The Sushi Bar, tucked near the kitchen next to the bar, has the fresh fish neatly displayed in cooler displays, the fish of the day/week can prepared in numerous ways, last time I went BLUE FIN. (Yes!) I love Nagoya, probably my favorite steakhouse, end of story.

I agree with some of the reviewers on the service. It is mysterious to me why the service there is so poor. I took a few guys there for a group lunch a few weeks ago. When we got there, there weren't many people at all, only 1 or 2 tables of guests with plenty of empty tables available. We were told to wait for 15mins to be seated. We did wait and were seated after 15mins or so. Then it took another 15-20mins for the waitress to come to take our orders. Then we waited for another 30-45mins before food arrived. Food was not so bad but definitely did not deserve an hour and a half of waiting. The other thing is they don't serve lunch Monday through Wed. We went there on a Wed in Dec and it was closed. So keep that in mind. This won't be a problem for me though because I won't go back any more.

Food? Idk. Didn't even get to eat. The hostess told us to wait 5 minutes while there were plenty of empty tables. I stood there watching the hostesses as they were talking and laughing to one another while we stood there waiting forever in frustration. It wasn't until I stood there staring at the hostess in a bad way then she finally sat us down. We finally got seated at a table and the menus were finally given. Wow...all that waiting around for nothing when we could have been seated down and look at the menu. Serivice is Horribly SLOW...SLOW!!!!! This business would not last a day in California. My husband got mad and suggested that we leave. So, we left, leaving our menus on the table, went to Tea Tree Asian Bistro instead, which is in the same plaza. MUCH better service there. I suggest bringing some of Tea Tree's employees over to Nagoya to be trained properly. Will not come back and will not recommend to others. Hope the manager sees this.

Always amazing and last night was no different. We easily got seated at the bar and ordered our dirty martinis within two minutes. Football games were on so we decided to have dinner at the bar. All 3 bartenders were great, friendly and attentive. We ordered the Barb roll and the Twilight (2 of our must have favorites and never disappoint). We decided to try the Queen & I and then the special "Kacey's roll". I think I may have a new favorite .... the Queen and I. Amazing!!! Great meal at Nagoya once again!

Made a reservation for 8pm and was seated right at 8pm for a Traditional dinner. Server was a little slow but, other than that it was a good experience. Atmosphere and decor was what you'd expect and the food was good. I love tempura sushi and they didn't have a lot to choose from. A good selection just not to my taste. Still was a good meal. Had the calamari to start, beer, and a saki Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary was delicious. Selections are good for Alcohol. But, wasn't blown away. Overall a good go to for sushi and hibachi. A round of drinks, two sushi rolls and appetizer was just under $80 for two. Good for a date night if you're feeling like sushi or hibachi in this area.

I haven't even sat down to eat yet, but this place's reservation/seating procedures are ridiculous. At this point, I could care less how good the food is. The management is light years behind Sakura.

We had dinner here one evening - on a recommendation from the young lady at the front desk across the street at our hotel - the Hilton Garden Inn. The place was packed for dinner. We opted to not sit at a one of the Hibachi tables. I had a bowl of Miso soup, an order of their version of Poki, Salmon and Yellowtail Nigiri, and Spider rolls. I also sampled some of Edamame. Everything was reasonably good - not the best Sashimi/sushi I've had - but still pretty good. Service was a bit slow - but I'd eat here again!

I'm allergic to scallops so when another man ordered them at our table, instead of making those last, my filet and shrimp had to be cooked in back. The filet was so overdone it had hard parts on it. I was embarrassed enough to have to have a special order I wasn't drawing more attention to myself! But for the next allergy customer, you might want to learn from this and just make the scallops last-like they do at other hibachi places we've gone to.

My wife and I went for the first time Saturday We waited 5 minutes to get a sit as we didn't want to wait a hour and half for the wait for the other seating I had the sword fish and she had chicken teriyaki bothI were good not great and not worth the price The service was the biggest problem our waitress was rude and acted as she didn't want to serve us For the price and service I don't believe we will be back it was a good experience but nothing to write home about

Good food. Good show. Very indifferent service. Slow. Had to wait for my water glass to be refilled four times. Nice company of strangers. They were celebrating a birthday. Everyone was happy. Just took a long time.

I ordered take out from here. It was a pretty busy night for a Thursday night at Nagoya. They didn't pick up my phone call - I had to call three times to get through. My review is just on the food I ordered for takeout. I ordered a salmon avocado roll, kamahachi roll, and the spicy tuna roll. All three rolls totaled $23 which is pretty decent considering it is three whole rolls (I eat sushi a LOT). The salmon avocado roll was lacking - I've had better at other places. The spicy tuna was very spicy - I think they mixed too much spicy mayo with the fish. The kamahachi roll was good though. I really enjoyed the flavor and texture of the fish. Overall, decent rolls - it meets the average standards that I normally get for sushi. It took about 25 minutes for my dinner to be ready. The staff was nice!

Another classic "Japanese" sushi/hibachi restaurant that has overly "Americanized" food. If you like sushi with mayonnaise and sauces, or even deep fried then this is your place. But you would never like authentic sushi if you do. Furthermore the service is also subpar.

We recently ate at Nagoya while we were visiting from North Carolina. Our son and his family (3 children) raved this was their favorite restaurant. My husband and I had not been there before. We had to wait an hour, but had a comfortable area of seating while we did. We were then seated at the Hibachi grill with a very fun, friendly, GREAT cook. The food and ambiance were wonderful. The whole experience was just awesome. We had the best time! But imagine our dismay when we paid our bill.....18% gratuity (expected and well worth it) but then also a "service charge" of another $33.56. Really? This is why we did not give Nagoya 5 stars. Felt gouged for sure.

Decent fish for so far from the ocean but forget about the service!! Expect to take 2-3hrs for a standard sushi dinner. Servers are clearly way way over worked. There were about 3 servers for 50 people at the restaurant. I've been here before as I stay across the street at Hilton. Unfortunately this is ALWAYS the case. Poor ownership. I have given this restaurant three times in case this was a fluke and it was not. It's said when you have a corporate credit card and can't get a good meal. I'll stick to Mancy's blue water grill up the road. Now THAT is amazing fish and service, if a bit pricey.

My family loves Nagoya. I honestly prefer Nagoya over Sakura any day. I think the price range is more like "$$$" though. The hibachi is a blast whether it's just a date night or we're taking the kids for some family fun. I usually get the filet and it is amazing. The rest of the family likes the chicken and the shrimp. We all love the yumyum sauce! Their drinks are average price, and they are tasty. I've never had any issues with the service. The wait staff has always been great, and the Hibachi chef is usually very personable and entertaining.

As far as "high end" restaurants go, Nagoya was decent. The interior was very appealing and the seating was comfortable, but they seem to keep the place fairly chilly in the summer. While I only ordered one roll off of the appetizers listing, I must say that I was disappointed in there sushi. The miso soup met par, and the house salad with the ginger based dressing was good, but it loses points for being almost entirely lettuce and being the typical salad served in a Hibachi grill. Their fillet mignon plate was fairly impressive, using a teriyaki sauce to accent the flavor of the steak, and the Tuna Toyama was very appetizing, but I imagine that others ordering it would have it cooked beyond seared, and this would completely kill the delicate flavor of the tuna. The sake (unfiltered) was very good, and fairly priced. Very pricey, but that's to be expected of any restaurant in Levis Commons. Nice if you want to impress a date, but not for impressing friends or more discriminating loved ones.

This is a review based on Nagoya's lunch service. I honestly try not to come here at night because of the habachi grill that gets very loud. During lunch however there is one of the best sushi specials in northwest Ohio. 10-14 dollars gets you ginger house salad, miso soup, a roll of your choice and 5 pieces of nigiri. Service is fantastic, the sushi chefs are too friendly and food is just delicious.

ALWAYS A WINNER! I have been a patron on this restaurant ever since it opened in Levis Commons in 2007. The food is great, the entertainment is ... well, entertaining, and the drinks are plentiful! The ONLY reason that I would not give it 5 stars is that it is a Hibachi Restaurant, and can be difficult to talk to a group of people while eating. If you are bringing a client that you hope to have dinner conversation with, this might not be the best choice. If you are bringing a client to entertain, then this is the place for you! Children are always at Nagoya, and since there is constant action, there never seems to be an issue. Factor in that the place is loud, a family wouldn't have to worry about crying babies or children who speak loudly! Management staff is always on duty, and will ensure you have a fantastic time!!! The price is very reasonable, and you will always leave feeling very full!
