I first heard about this place from my cousin a long time ago. Once I tried it I was hooked! I never really go to Oberlin unless I go to a concert at the college or the Feve! I recently found that this place serves brunch and I must say, it's awesome!!! They also change the specials for brunch weekly. So far I've only tried the Benedict with chorizo and it was great! I can't wait to come back soon!

I went to The Feve for dinner after a long day of walking around town and I can definitely say that I'm glad I chose this restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful, the service was reasonably quick, and the Boca burger I had was certainly one of the best vegan/vegetarian burgers I've ever had. On top of all of that, the pricing was reasonable--$8.25 for my burger with fries and under $2 for a fountain drink (which I'm assuming could be refilled for free) and not a lot more than that for bottled beverages. I can see why this restaurant is a town favorite!

We took a spontaneous adventure to Oberlin one afternoon...we asked about three people for a good recommendation and by unanimous vote we arrived at THE FEVE! I am sure glad that we did. They have a great food and drink menu. I had the crab cake sandwich and it may have been the best I've ever had (I am a sucker for crab cakes). My boyfriend had a burger and he said that was really good too. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Oberlin!

Came with the family for lunch. Had to wait about 30 minutes, and luckily the weather was nice because there is absolutely no waiting area inside the restaurant. I loved the selection of seasonings and dipping sauces for the fries/tots, but was a little put off by the charging scheme. I feel like most other places I've been to that offer a large variety of condiments usually don't charge for them, so in comparison it felt like The Feve was nickel-and-diming me for loving condiments. While I was super excited to find the avocado melt on the menu - it sounds like close to an ideal sandwich for me - I was not as satisfied with the actual thing. It was kind of bland/boring. Luckily I had purchased several fry sauces that I could use to spice it up. Speaking of the fries, I thought they were awful, but I am generally not in favor of the skinny/shoestring type. I'd almost always prefer fries to tots, but if I ever ate here again I'd definitely get the tots. My husband said his burger was quite good, and our server was friendly and attentive as well. Definitely not "good for kids," or at least small ones. The bathrooms are down steep stairs with no changing facilities, and the dining area is way overcrowded with tables so it's very difficult to get to your seat without bumping someone's head with your diaper bag. Overall I'd say that while I wouldn't be opposed to eating here again, I probably wouldn't seek it out either.

One of my favourite places (of all time and anywhere) for burgers. I crave Feve burgers regularly. Even when thousands of miles away. Tots on the side is a classic. And they've been doing it way before Napoleon was carrying them around in his fannypack. In fact, he probably got them from the Feve. So yeah, the burgers are amazing. Truly. To say nothing of THE BRUNCH. Feve Brunch is not just a scheduled event or occurrence. It is a gorram Oberlin establishment. One does not simply walk into Oberlin without Feve Brunch. Changing weekly, always delicious. The beer selection is great, drink prices and specials are fantastic (be careful! This was the last location I ever drank Long Islands); just a great bar on top of everything else it has going. Feve is simply the best. Always has been, likely always will be.

Just had brunch and it was delicious. Well seasoned, good portion sizes and great atmosphere. I feel like our dishes could have been a bit hotter though. I like how the menu changes and if I was a local, I'd probably go here very often!

This is a nice place for lunch or dinner. Lots of vegetarian options and delicious tots! The beer selection is simple, but not ordinary. The clientele is very diverse; professors, citizens of Oberlin, parents of students, students themselves, and sometimes a large man in a dress. The real magic of the Feve happens during brunch. Their menu seems to have its staples of favorites and traditional fares. They seem to change it with seasonal availability.

Visited this place about two months ago. The only thing I can say about this place is that it's a nice looking place. The service was horrific. Employees drinking on the job. The food took over an hour to be served and when I brought it up, I was answered with a whole lot of attitude. We got up and left without even taking a bite. I've never walked out of a restaurant before but I guess there's always a first time for everything. Save your time, money, and energy and go somewhere else instead.

I stopped here for lunch during a bike ride with 4 friends and wow, I'm glad I did! Amazing service, great food, and cheap beer! The inside decor is pretty cool and hip and they have a nice little bar where we all sat. They also have a bigger bar upstairs that opens around dinner time and stays open til 3am or so. It just happened to be happy hour when we got there, so all draft beers were $1 off which was nice on top of their already cheap beer prices! (see pic) I had some kind of grapefruit ale (sure, I guess it's kinda girly) and it was really nice and refreshing after a long bike ride. I ordered the tots with Cajun seasoning and chimichurri dipping sauce and a basket of sauerkraut balls to share. The tots were crispy and delicious, but I wish they were made fresh instead of the frozen school cafeteria-style that we're all familiar with. At least that's what they looked like. The sauerkraut balls were really good, but I have to say I like the ones at Hofbräuhaus a little more. For my meal, I had the Cuban with a side salad and it was perfection! They loaded up that sammich, piled high with meat on a toasty ciabatta roll. It was awesome! My friend's dad ordered the same thing and he enjoyed it very much as well. It was the first time he ever had a Cuban sammich and he says he'll be ordering it again! It looks like The Feve serves up a mean brunch, so maybe I'll have to stop by next time and try that out! Nevertheless, we'll definitely be stopping here the next time we ride the Rail Trail again!

Oh my Burger! This place has an awesome menu. I ordered The Breakfast Burger and oh boy was it one of the best burgers I have had in a long long time. I actually purposely did not eat all of it in one sitting so that I could have it again the next day! Let's also talk about the chimichurri sauce they put on that specific burger...YOWZA is it delicious! Make sure you get a side of this sauce for the delicious tator tots that you can order as a side. You can pick 3 sauces for $1! What a great way to try new things! I can't wait to come back and try brunch! One of the waiters was raving about it and told me certain menu items change weekly! This is definitely a place you want to check out!!

Awesome place! Great atmosphere and great food! I had a thai wrap and Bbq sandwich both so good! The pita and hummus is a nice alternative for a side item. Service was quick and our waiter was extremely accommodating!!!

I placed an order for a sports team---and the food did not disappoint! The tater tots are to die for!!!! I suggest ordering the dipping sauces to go with your tots! The staff was really friendly. We will definitely be back next year when we play Oberlin!

I gave this place a low rating for a really bad experience we had in 2012. We're locals, and I have been back several times since and wanted to give an update. I've ate at the bar, upstairs and down with two to four in my party and ordered to go and have never had an issue. The food was always good and the service too. Glad to say, I have never run into their running out of tater tots again.

I am a parent who has eaten here at least 10 times. There are a few other good restaurants in Oberlin, but whether it's breakfast, lunch, dinner, or late night bite, The Feve is always our top choice. EVERYTHING is fresh, flavorful, and fantastic, including both the healthy and the more "indulgent" options. Salads, burgers, grilled sandwiches, creative brunches... There's a reason you often have to wait for a table. I've yet to have a salad here that wasn't wonderful. Each sandwich is better than the next (the Cubano is better than any you've ever had), and brunch may be the best meal of all. Maybe... I suppose the tater tots are the thing, and they are better here than you remember tater tots ever tasting, but if you're ordering a sandwich, get the fries instead. They are superlative. Seriously.

GREAT BRUNCH We stopped in Black River Cafe for brunch. We were promptly seated & then completely ignored for 15+ minutes. So we did them a favor: we got up and went across the street to The Feve. It was a good decision. We actually ordered fairly plain breakfasts (i.e., eggs, sausage, toast, coffee, etc), but everything was just perfect, as was the friendly service. The prices were most reasonable as well.

Very nice place to get a bite to eat in Oberlin. The wings were advertized as organic/free range, and you would tell because they weren't the size of your arm (just like they used to be twenty years ago). The burgers were very tasty, as well.

Enjoyed a delicious bacon cheeseburger at the Feve on my last trip to Oberlin. The service was prompt and on que! We loved the cold draft beers and the fun and eccentric wait staff! I've been going to the Feve for ten years and will continue to be a patron to this restaurant for many years.

THIS IS THE BEST PART OF OBERLIN, OHIO, MUCH LESS HOW ABOUT ALL OF OHIO !!! Custom make your own TATOR TOTS , WHOA !! I got the danimal hot spice on my perfectly fried tots ... there was 4 options of what type of seasoning you could pick and than like 20 different sauces you could top with ... if i went back i'd try the Honey Siracha ! My salad was so incredibly FRESH .... it tasted like the ingredients were picked from a farm in the back of the restaurant ... this charming restaurant had impeccable service !! I got the cilantro lime chicken salad - which is grilled chicken with mixed greens, peppers avocado i got cucumber and maybe there was a few other items the balsamic garlic dressing, PERFECTION YUM YUM YUM

I wish I could give this place three and a half stars. I really enjoyed the tater tots with hot sauce and bleu cheese. The sandwiches are okay. Since the area doesn't have too many restaurants, I think that they don't focus on having unique vegetarian options other than tofu (maybe seitan? Or tempeh?) or ensuring that everything has a robust flavor. However, it's a really cute place and the beer selection is nice (and cheap!). If you're looking for a quick bite and a beer in Oberlin, it's a good place for sure.

A great local spot with a fun and hip atmosphere. They have a huge upstairs and downstairs for seating. This place is great any night of the week. I love the beer selection and the food is great too. They have a lot of healthy options as well as a lot of vegetarian options. This is where the college kids come hang out for a fun time. With that being said, there is always a very diverse crowd there which I love about it too. People of all ages come to the bar. The Feve has been here for as long as I can remember and it has always been a hot spot. The Oberlin downtown is such a cute area and this bar fits right in. The bar's design is very unique and modern. A great place to grab a drink with friends after a long day!

Four stars for the tots! A great little spot in Oberlin. A really cool atmosphere with the menu to go with it! You have to get the tater tots... period. The food is pretty good and the S-shaped bar is impressive, but the way they have taken their tater tots to a whole new level Is worth skipping off the beaten path to enjoy. If you you want to eat tater tots and still feel like an adult- check it out!

3.5 stars. You know, I just can't get behind the Feve. I've been here for brunch, dinner, and bar food, and it's just ok. They have plenty of options, many of them seasonal, which is great. But the flavor and delivery, it just seems like regular bar food to me. For brunch, I had a vegetarian egg options. It came with a large salad, which I appreciate, but it was less of the main and more salad. I can appreciate the creative and ever-changing brunch menu though, so if anything, I would say come here for brunch. For dinner and bar food, I've had the fried fish and the portabello mushroom sandwich. Both were really average to me. On the plus side...their service is great. For a larger party, they accommodated us upstairs (order at the bar) and when I thought they had forgotten part of our order (tator tots) they were quick to replace them (even though it was my mistake at the end of the day.) For fried food, it's addictingly good with large portions, but again, not super unique to other bar food. I guess I'll just have to keep trying..!

I love going to the Feve. Their grilled cheese and tomato was delicious. Burgers are great too. Love their fries, but looks like the Tater Tots are big winners too.

My company is doing work at Oberlin College and the first time I visited, I was amazed at how nice the downtown area was and the interesting named restaurants that were there. I had the intention of eating at the Asian fusion place but the place had higher reviews so I decided to stop here in my way back to the office. The place nice and the service was good. The food was even better. I didn't get too fancy but I ordered the Cuban Burger. Don't recall all that was on it but it was delicious. I added avocado to it and a side of onion rings. Upon receiving my food, I was a bit disappointed at the amount rings that was served. I don't think they batter them there either. As it turned out though, I couldn't even finish the rings after my burger so it's not a deal breaker. The burger was amazing. I've had Michael Symon's favorite burger at in Kent and I think this one was way better. I remember it had dry rubbed pull pork on it along with something else. It certainly pleased the taste buds. Wasn't too greasy and was manageable to eat. I wish I lived closer to try more stuff off their menu. It's about an hour and a half drive for me since I'm coming from Akron. I wanted a alcoholic drink so bad too. Maybe next time!

I don't live in Oberlin anymore but sometimes I wish I did just because I miss The Feve so much. Brunch: Feve Brunch literally cannot be beat. Try as I might, I have yet to find a place that comes anywhere close to The Feve. I love how the menu changes every week. I love the special pancakes. I love how they post the menu on Facebook on Thursday night to get you excited about brunch that weekend. (Though, honestly, now that I've moved away the weekly posting of the brunch menu is almost tragic because I know I will never get to enjoy it!) Bar: During my senior year at Oberlin, I--like pretty much everyone--thoroughly enjoyed hanging out at the Feve's upstairs bars. The daily specials are great, especially Happy Happy Hour which is a great, cheap way to unwind on a Friday afternoon. Happy Happy is usually really busy, though, so I'd say my favorite specials are Monday's Happy Hour all night and Thursday's Shots & Tots. (Tots! The best tots in the world! Get the danimal seasoning!) I was also consistently impressed with the beer selection. It changes a lot and they get a good variety of local stuff and far-flung breweries. (Ballast Point Sculpin in Oberlin, OH? Yes please!) Oh, and get the Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich.

Came during happy hour I love the atmosphere! Glad I trudged through rain and farmlands get here lol. Very quaint place with modern hipsterish decor. Ordered the Feve Burger with tots (Omg awesome) and well drinks were a dollar off so happy camper :). Service was quick and friendly. People were even friendlier. Love this little town of Oberlin!

Upon returning to this place my experience was terrible. Sat at the bar for 20+ minutes without being acknowledged. Stopped someone, can we order some drinks. She said she couldn't make those and would find someone who could. No one else ever came back over. Such poor service. If you are that busy hire more staff. Never returning.

Holy cow, am I in Ohio? This place is crazy hip! After hearing so much about this place, we ventured out to Oberlin to check it out. They change their brunch menus every weekend, so we just HAD to try. He ordered an omelette- it was well cooked and just overall good. I, however, ordered the heftiest dish- pork belly with a syrup glaze on top of cheesy grits. HOLY COW, THAT WAS THE BEST BREAKFAST EVER! The pork belly was tender and marinated just right, the grits were GREAT (and I don't even like grits), and the poached egg in the middle...once I popped that egg and let the yolk run all over the pork belly and grits... I couldn't stop smiling. Man, that was one great great dish. Overall, the Feve is definitely cool. It reminded me of a restaurant you would see in a hip part of the city- like Brooklyn or something of that sort. Very hipster, but cool. Cool posters on the walls, cool people having intellectual conversations... just overall cool. And the food...wowza, it's definitely a spot to stop in for brunch. Oh how I wish it was closer to CLE! Nonetheless, worth the stop for an amazing brunch.

Great local color! Pronounced "the fev" - or you'll get funny looks. The tater tots are their specialty and make sure to get one of their signature sauces or spices. Fresh, eclectic and flavorful food with good healthy options. We split a small basket of tots with garlic for an app. And I had the Thai chicken wrap with a side of veggies and hummus. Both were bursting with flavor. Wait staff are friendly but not overbearing. A great place to grab a drink with friends as well.

Why did I give this place a 3-star in 2010? What the hell was I thinking. The bar specials upstairs are to die for if you are on a budget. I mean, what can be better then getting buzzed without spending more than $10? The new menu (as well as the classic menu) features many tasteful food. Personally, I would get the burger with the mango chutney (I forgot the name of the burger but trust me, its there) or the Brunch Burger. Speaking of brunch, their brunch special changes every week so it can be a gamble trying out their different menus but 9 out of 10 times, you'll end ordering something delicious. Just beware of the Vietnamese Sandwich if it is ever on the menu again. Now to the sides (and yes, that includes wings). Now, I love the lemon pepper wings at WingStop but I'm not going to drive all the way to Mentor for that and the best wings here are the dry rub wings. Their sauced base wings are okay, not the best in the world, but definitely good but their hot wings were not hot at all. I have a love/hate relationship with tots. If you can't handle college kids (and their rowdiness), I would seek another place while college is in session.

The hype is truly warranted. Sunday brunch was an excellent experience as an out-of-town visiting to see friends, was happy to have a fresh meal and not fast-food after traveling a while. The sort of place that you'd never expect to see in a town that small -- college town or not -- but absolutely the sort of thing that fits with my vision of Oberlin. Great ambiance and good food. The hype is warranted.

Tater tots are amazing. Went with a big group and they took care of us quickly and nicely. Tons of different sauces for the tots was great and a giant beer selection if you're into that. The place in Oberlin to get good bar food. Good atmosphere, can't beat it.

Napoleon Dynamite votes Feve for the "Best Tots" Situated on the Main St. of Oberlin surrounded by historical buildings and many potential fellow-thinkers that resemble an urban outfitter catalog shoot. No-nonsense ordering flows with the smallish simplistic dining area. The Feve serves up a sizzling selection of both traditional comfort burgers and divine works of art. Seriously this place is just fun! Once you get your food you can enjoy a truly great burger. Its the perfect size, flavorful and is accompanied by a fantastic side of fries, tots, or hummus (yes I said hummus) if you so choose. I came a little early to avoid the crowd and parked my Texas Rear-end right up at the bar. I ordered a glass of wine (which was inexpensive) and I must add "No short pours here" Interesting wait-staff, friendly and engaging. My food came out quickly and was attended to promptly throughout my meal! "Feve for President"

Good Burgers, good tater tots, and a good beer/wine selection. The Feve has nice will art and exposed brick. The upstairs bar was very nice too.I will say Oberlin has to be the most liberal place in America filled with good people.I will be back the next time I mountain bike Thorn MTB Trail.

I was only in town for a couple of hours and stopped in for a quick dinner. I happily soaked in the sleepy quaintness of downtown and equally enjoyed the Feve's ambient lighting, exposed brick, and eccentric-contemporary-farm-esque-homages. I was an awkward party of one dining on the first floor. When asked about where to sit, the waiter seemed rather frazzled and never made much eye contact the whole evening. For such a chill and small place, I was curious as to why it seemed so high strung? Even when he brought my plate, it seemed like he just plopped it down with my silverware. I wasn't in the burger mood and got the avocado melt with megan (herb seasoned) tater tots. I immediately grew jealous-- why isn't there a place like this on my campus? The tots were done oh-so-well. Hot and crispy. As I mentioned before, I'm not a vegetarian, but the avocado melt was DELICIOUS with slightly caramelized onions, sweet peppers, oozy muenster cheese, and of course-- hefty chunks of avocado. It doesn't sound like much, but I was super full by the end of the meal with tots to spare. Including tip, dinner came to $9. Score! I was pretty sad leaving such a darling little place. The Feve, you will always have a special place in my heart!

Ambiance: Eclectic, fun, and casual. Food: Great quality and more than enough choices for everyone. Service: Always warm/friendly. Price: Middle of the road and def not too expensive. Overall: If you come here once and gander at the menu, you'll want to come back (or order take-out) to try something else. My fav's are the shakes and "just right" chicken wings. The Masochistic wings are good as well, but be prepared for napalm poo the next morning.

This is most certainly a college spot. You'll get the vibe as soon as you walk through the door. It's not a bad thing, just the vibe of the joint. To some extent, I actually appreciate that vibe. There's no TVs on the wall, sports-bar nonsense, or coffee-shop couches. It's a place that ditches the frills of a want-to-be fancy restaurant to serve tasty food to the college crowd; It's a place to get decent food and engage in conversation. Service was attentive and friendly. If I were still a college kid, I would probably give this place four or five stars. At this point in my life, it seems just average, or maybe 3.5 stars. I stopped in to meet some people for brunch on a Sunday and the experience was just fine. The pancakes are great. They even make a special pancake that changes regularly. They were serving fish and chips pancakes when I visited. I wasn't brave enough to try it--I couldn't shake an image of perch mixed into pancake batter. I shouldn't have been scared because they used fried fish and fries as a topping to the pancake. It looked good. I had the apple caramel pancakes, which tasted great. The pancakes aren't the fluffy Bisquick batter pancakes you might see at other breakfast joints. These had a more hardy mouth-feel and they were a bit thinner than what you get from iHop or Denny's. It reminded me of the homemade pancakes my grandmother used to make from mixing a little bit of buckwheat into the batter.

This place is pretty awesome. It started off my very first day trip in Oberlin. What a cool little town! They had awesome french toast, amazing bloody marys, and some pretty incredible stuffed crepes. All around creative menu - executed perfectly. The best part? The owner's daughter sells some killer mac & cheese at the farmers market. Little chef in the making. It was delicious!

What a great find. The sandwiches we had were great twists on old favorites - the cuban sandwich and the buffalo shishtawook. The tater tots were also out of this world. We made these selections by asking our server his favorites, and he was a great resource. And all for a reasonable price and neat ambiance. We were in Oberlin for a soccer practice and used Yelp to find this place and am really glad we did!

This is a great restaurant. I really liked the lay out and the s-curve bar. The pressed tin ceilings were beautiful. The menu is varied and has lots of options for salads and sandwiches. I had the FEVE burger and it was perfectly cooked, and delicious. I would go back and recommend it to anyone in the Oberlin area.

This place tries to be trendy -- if that's what you're into. On a typical Friday night you'd come across a lot of college folk and some suited up administrators and their private parties. The food is delicious (although I'd steer clear from the more unusual new options at brunch -- they are a hit or miss) and burgers are particularly nice. It tends to get pretty loud, though, so it's more of a group meeting place than anything else.

Reliably great food every time I've been, with a nice mix of vegetarian and carnivore fare. I had an avocado melt with tater tots (I ordered fresh garlic on those tots, and they rocked), and my husband had wings and the veggie plate. He reports that the wings are breaded, which he normally doesn't care for, but the flavor was pretty great. The veggie plate came with a generous portion of creamy hummus (house-made, I think). We were both really happy with our food. The service has always been good, in my experience. On this particular visit, a party of 20 was taking over the place and were unhappy that they all couldn't sit together. (Uh, guys? I got the feeling you'd been here before- is this really the first place you think of for a PARTY OF 20?? It's the size of my living room.) The manager on duty did everything but tap-dance to keep them happy. Kudos to him and the staff for being accommodating.

Good food, good beer selections, and a cool atmosphere. We come here at least once a month for sandwiches and Samuel Smith beers. I have been coming here since the 90's when the Feve was just a coffee house!

I love this place. It has a great relaxed atmosphere, and the service is friendly. I LOVE tater tots..so much that it's kind of ridiculous. The Feve's tater tots are the best I've had. They have various kinds but I like mine spicy. Their sandwiches are delicious---my favorites are The Number Nine, Avocado Melt, and the Shistawouk. Their salad dressings are unique and very good as well. It can get pretty busy, and the restaurant itself is pretty small. The prices are really affordable...definitely worth going to!!

I've spent many hours at the Feve since I first waltzed into the town of Oberlin ca. 2000. I enjoyed another spell there this past weekend - pretty much everything was fantastic except the side of fries I got with my buffalo shistawouk (no one likes cold french fries). Happy to see brunch is now a staple. Servers were on-point, drinks were cheap, food was [mostly] good.

The food here is top-notch and could rival some of our better brunch spots in New York. I had a lobster pancake here a couple months ago and it was tremendous-- chunks of fresh lobster embedded throughout a delicious, flavorful pancake. The pancakes are the way to go here. One time I came with some folks for drinks and tater tots up on the second floor. Tasty and cheap. The atmosphere was pretty laid-back and the bartender was friendly. All in all, probably one of my favorite places to hang out in Oberlin.

Okay - BEST BRUNCH FOOD EVER! I had cookie dough pancakes this morning with veggie sausages and rosemary Yukon gold potatoes that were so good, I could probably eat it all over again for dinner. The service was fantastic (make sure to get a guy or one of the awesome brunette waitresses) and the upstairs backroom is awesome. This is a must-try: Hurry, GO! :)

First of all, as they acknowledge, this place is not wheelchair accessible. Hoisting myself up the one step from the ground entrance without even a handrail puts me in a bad mood, so my opinion might be clouded by that experience. Once you do make it in, there is no bathroom on the ground floor, so plan ahead if you don't do stairs. Inaccessibility aside, my experiences here have been mixed. The chicken wings are the best, well done so they're crispy, not all fatty like at some places, and the sauces I tried were all delicious. Fish sandwich was great, and hummous was delicious, although probably not completely authentic, which I just say because it was a little different from the hummous I've had at Mideastern restaurants. On the down side, when we ate here at the beginning of the school year in late August, there were some flies buzzing around, which put me off somewhat The hamburger included some kind of flavoring pre-mixed in the meat, which made it too salty for my taste. Bottom line: probably worth trying after fly season as long as you don't have mobility problems, not worth it if you do.

I would like to say that I am a huge fan of one of a kind trendy places to go hang out and grab a bite to eat. I was brought to The Feve by a friend and it was love at first sight. The walls are covered in local art and the atmosphere is very warm and comfortable. This is a good place to go either on a special occasion or a night out. The food is high quality with fresh ingredients and the service is outstanding. The hummus is probably the best I have ever had and i highly recommend the crab cake sandwich.

What a great find! We were visiting the campus with our son who was considering the school. We are from California and not used to the bitter cold. I was longing for anything that remined me of home. We yelped the area for a lunch choice and went with Feve. Wow what a great sandwich selection. Many unique sandwiches with a lot of vegetarian options. Many beer choices and all California wines. My husband raved about the Cuban sandwich and I was very happy with the Ericka veggie. The decor was very simple, looked like a common california eatery. felt like home. Highly recommend you try this spot!

College-wise, I'm sure you'll find something on the menu to take care of your munchies. For fresher, more intriguing food, head across the street or elsewhere.

Great burgers! Love the fries, especially with the pulled pork and cole slaw. Good atmosphere! Sometimes service is slow. But still good. I always enjoy the dining experience there.

This is my favorite bar. Period. It's a delightful mix of cheap drinks and the world's greatest tater tots and dipping sauces. Also, any place that has $1 happy hour is pretty awesome in my book.

I would not have gotten through college without the Feve. The food there is amazing. The burgers are literally the best in the world. I have yet to find one as food. Avocado Bacon Burger? Bacon Swiss Portobello Burger? You want burgers better than these? Impossible. It's not just the burgers, either. The Avocado Melt is delicious, as are all the salads, even just the side, which comes with their delicious house dressing. The tater tots are also great. Brunch is also a weekly ritual I looked forward to every week. It made me get up at 8am on a Saturday so I could be first in line. The menu changes every week, but the most memorable meals for me were the smoked salmon pancakes with a chive cream cheese spread, a duck scramble, and chocolate raspberry pancakes. There are always two options for pancakes; one sweet, one savory. You can also just order the regular ones every week. The pancakes here are delicious, so I would usually just get the plain unless something special caught my eye. I would give just about anything to have some Feve pancakes right now. Yes, Oberlin is a small college town, so the Feve must cater to the needs of 2,500 kids who think they know something about the world. Despite this, the Feve does well in presenting itself as a mature, serious restaurant with great food and an outstanding happy hour. People should choose to go to Oberlin simply because they would then be able to eat at the Feve all the time.

Yum! Great burgers, salads, Sunday brunch is amazing! Small place that is almost always packed. Service can be slow

I am from the Chicago area and have family in Wellington, OH. They take us to The Feve every time we visit because we love it so much. I've had both their brunch and lunch/dinner. In my opinion, the brunch is better than their lunch/dinner. Served only on the weekends, it's different every weekend and it's amazing. They also got me addicted to white wine spritzers!!! There is always a wait but I don't mind waiting for this food. And they put you upstairs to wait so you can sit and talk and have coffee while you wait. The burgers are great. We also love the spinach pie. The best thing on the lunch/dinner menu is the breaded mushrooms- I cannot eat breaded mushrooms from anywhere else now. I live very close to Chicago and The Feve is better than a lot of places in the city. I seriously would move to Ohio for this place!!!

All you five star "Feve Does Not Rhyme With Beave" reviewers? A few quick questions: Are you reviewing the beer list only? The beer list is wonderful, chock full of variety and a few surprises, and if you're on your last buck a can o' PBR is right there for you. As a bar, this place is just great. Are you reviewing the service? Nice folks, sure, in that "Oh, hey. You didn't get menus? I'll go talk with Hector..." way. Ten minutes later, "Dude! He never came over?" Sure. That's certainly service, if by "service" you mean "pocket full of excuses." Are you reviewing the atmosphere? Brick walls full of art make the place look less like small-town Ahia, but they do not make up for college bar bathrooms, down the stairs, through the sticky hallways. Yeeewww. I'm not sqeamish, but. Yeeewww. The tables and chairs in the dining area seem to be moved after each party leaves, making for an interesting little hoe-down during a meal. If by "interesting" you mean "STOP moving furniture, I'm trying to eat, here." Are you reviewing the food? We needed to chow something quickly so my two accomplices had salads and I had fish 'n' chips. Big mistake. While they had actual plates, I had some sort of cardboard wrapped in foil to resemble a boat. The fries were soggy, the fish was fishy, the boat sank. Come on. Even given that this is a college town, there's no way this is anything more than three stars. As just a bar? Sure, four or five; they are a restaurant, though, and don't get much of anything right in that regard. (Nostalgia seemed to be a recurring theme in previous reviews. I guess nostalgia just ain't what it used to be.)

What a great find. The food was great - not typical ingredients or ideas, and worthy of a stop. I might even find myself driving out there just for a bite to eat, its that good.

Their regular menu is good- average- you get what you ask for generally speaking but it is a little bit on the expensive side. They have a good drink selection. Service is on the slow side and the staff is not particularly friendly. On the flip side- their brunch is AMAZING. I love it. Usually has a long wait (upstairs) but their pancakes in particular are super yummy. Jalapeno bacon cheddar pancake a couple weeks ago was crazy delicious. I only wish they had coffee upstairs while you wait for brunch. Overall, pretty good.

I don't know who Erica is but she makes the best veggi sandwich I have every had. Nice atmosphere, good selection of sandwiches, salads and burgers all expertly prepared. Excellent value. My only complaint would be that I would have preferred the pita bread toasted or at least warmed.

We went here after an SCA event with a large group (14 people) early evening on a Saturday. The beer selection was good and the food was excellent. The food came out very quickly.

I have eaten at the Feve three times and I have yet to be disappointed by anything. In fact, it is the only restaurant in Oberlin that I insist on visiting every time I am in town. The food is delicious, the service friendly, the atmosphere fun, and the prices reasonable. I have enjoyed burgers, salads, salmon omelettes, tater tots, and more. Everything is always fresh and tasty, and the folks in the kitchen seem to be equally adept at churning out delicious pancakes during the weekend brunch as they are pulled pork sandwiches on a weekday evening. That kind of versatility is something that I don't find often in a restaurant. I cannot speak kindly enough of the Feve and the great people and yummy food that you will find there. In short, if you are in Oberlin, go to the Feve. You will not be disappointed. The Feve: proving that a restaurant can be trendy AND serve delicious food at the same time.

The Feve is the most wonderful bar ever. Seriously. I'm not just saying that because I have fond college memories of drinking far too many $2 well drinks. I'm saying that because they have cheap, awesome drinks and drink specials. Also, the bartenders are the best bartenders ever. Probably. Also, they have tots that are far superior to any other fried tot. I also like their decor, exposed brick, some bizarre local artist, nothing pretentious, just a good time.

The Feve (rhymes with rev, like an engine) is a great local, cheap bar. It is primarily filled with Oberlin College students. It's split into two floors. The first floor is used for their weekend brunch and daily dinner. The second floor is the bar (dinner can be ordered at the bar upstairs, but there isn't waiter service other than bringing the meal up). Dinner is standard and good. Burgers never fail here. Add some tater tots or stinky tots (garlic tater tots) or some fries and you're good to go. The liquor selection is nothing to write home about, but it is CHEAP. Happy hour gives you $1 drinks. I'll order a bourbon (edit: not during happy hour) and pay $3.50 for it. They also have rotating daily specials, not just Friday happy hour. It doesn't take long to know the bar staff by name (for the most part, there are just two of them). The only complaint that I have is that mixed drinks (rum and coke, or bourbon and coke) can be somewhat weak. If you prefer stronger drinks, I suggest you specify that (ex. "a bourbon with a splash of coke" or something more accurate to your preferences). The Feve gets five stars. It was my college bar, and the only bar where I've really been a regular.

    (5)
  • Caitlin C.

The Feve! Yay! Some aspects of the food and drink could be better, sure, but for a college-town bar (and the only bar in town), I think it's great. Of course, order some tots to go with your Great Lakes brew, and get one or two or three of the dipping sauces to go with. Many of the sandwich-type things are very tasty. Also check out the Friday 5-7 happy hour ($1 dollar well shots/drinks)--but, if you want a table during the school-year, you'll need to get there well early. Bar upstairs (but you can also order food) and restaurant (also with full bar) downstairs.

Great food, interesting beer choices, and a whole lotta fun! Walking into the Feve is like walking into a cool hangout that makes you feel like you are as cool as the people in here. Brunch on the weekends is fantastic; after being in Oberlin over the weekend for graduation, the Asparagus Quiche was delicious. The Feve tries to have lots of local food and drinks from the area, making for a fun twist on local goodness.

Tripping over my feet, nalgene bottle fulled to the brim with cheap pinot grinot - the Feve is where I would haul my drunk A$$. And it was always so welcoming. There were the charming towny bartenders that always hooked you up with at least one drink on a slow night,, the drunk - butt pinching townies who tried to corner you at the bathroom, and the La Grange - wasted limo driver - that would drunkenly promise you a free ride in his 'luxory vehicle.' Hell, on a Friday or Saturday night - there's all of Oberlin crammed into a tiny space known lovingly as the "Feve." The Feve has so much nostalgic charm, that as I write this, I'm craving a whiskey sour and a plate of tater-tots. Many a night was spent crammed into a Feve booth, bitching about the 'oh so cool' server that rolled their eyes, when you asked for more silverware. Or the lame party packed with freshman and loud jocks. Many a casual date (wait - who am I kidding - no one dates in Oberlin) ended up at the Feve for some hot wings, or warm chai. The Feve has undergone so many changes - some good, some bad; but it's still immortal. Everyone has a drunk embarassing story that begins or ends here. From patting down guy's crotches after spilled wine- to tripping down the stairs head first. I can't wait to revisit for commencement sometime, and down some PBR upstairs, in a hazy room full of smoke.....

Now you can spend both your weekend nights and mornings at the Feve! This isn't news if you live in Oberlin, but the Feve is serving brunch now - not just brunch, but awesome designer brunch. They change the menu every weekend, and feature entrees like chilaquiles (a southwestern b-fast), goat cheese scrambles, and different "fancy cakes" (one kind of savory pancake and one kind of sweet pancake). They'll even e-mail you the menu for the weekend if you put your name on their list, so you'll know whether or not it's worth dragging yourself out of bed or not (inevitably, it is).

Oh, The Feve. How you nourished me with your tater tots, grilled cheese, felafel and tang. I miss your brick walls, surly waitstaff and the thrill of hearing your name screamed over the loud punk rock that was a staple of the joint. My ill fated college experience at Oberlin just wouldn't have been the same without you.

Best New Year's eve bar for Oberlin townies and their out of town guests. There are drink specials and the beer is cheap. Jason, the owner, is a World Class Schmooze Master and the air is thick with love.

This used to be the Tap House, home of 3.2 beer and the only pub in Oberlin. It got a little formica'ed up when I worked in Oberlin after graduation, and we started calling it McTap. Some cool locals bought the place and turned it into a pretty funky coffee house and place to escape Dascomb Dining Hall. Lots of red brick and sprouts. Haven't been back in a while, but I hear it's doing fine.

No vegan options at brunch. Incredibly hungry now. Will smoke a cigarette. Also, I couldn't smoke inside the feve. So I am hungry. Historically, my partner and I likes to snowball with feve tater tots in each of our mouths. I think we will still order the tater tots, b/c we enjoy this. If I could give 2.75 stars, I think that would be more accurate. There is only one bathroom which makes it problematic to drink 4 cups of coffee (free refills by the way, a nice addition) and then have to use the facilities which are crowded with people who have eaten too much cheese.

I've been here a few times, now for lunch and it has always been great. Got here for brunch this past weekend and it was once again awesome. I'm updating my stars to 5 for consistently doing an excellent job. I had the bbq trout quiche and potato garlic soup, btw. If you see either on the menu they are a solid choice!

Been there twice now, First time was amazing! so we decided to go back the very next week! On the second visit it was a bit of a let down. Perhaps we had high expectations after our first visit, but the food was a huge miss the second time. We plan on going back a third time, maybe it was just a fluke, or a bad day in the kitchen, but it was just disappointing to have such an amazing meal, followed by a downer just a week later.

The Feve is an awesome place to go for brunch. They serve fresh squeezed OJ and the menu changes every week. The choices are always unique. (Think ingredients like wild mushrooms, goat cheese, polenta, etc.)This brunch is pretty gourmet! The best time to go is in the summer when Oberlin college is not in session. I have been here also for dinner and that menu is more "bar food" but also decent.

Had a work trip here a couple of weeks back [living in Boston area now] and had to meet my boss for lunch - she picked the place as she had a meeting with some "socialists" in the afternoon on campus [apparently there is a liberal college in town - didn't really look into it and I listen to a lot of Ted Nugent in the car]. Can't really complain about her lifestyle since she's paying my bills! Opted to order the lime chicken salad [going on a "health kick" after being diagnosed as a diabetic per WebMD] and was blown away by its flavor. The service was nothing short of lovely and they look to have some great local beers on tap. Couldn't drink any though since my boss was with me [managed to sneak a few pulls of Wild Turkey from my flask in the bathroom]. Will definitely come back when visiting family in the area!

The Feve is without a doubt the best place to eat and hang out in Oberlin. The food is always good and sometimes great, although the brunch menu sometimes goes a little off the deep end and they don't serve any desserts. You can get tater tots with tons of excellent dipping sauces, and everything is incredibly affordable. It's also open later than most of the other restaurants in town, and tends to be the center of downtown Oberlin's "night-life." Don't stop in The Feve for a quick meal, though. While the staff is really nice, the service is unbelievably slow, even when it's not that busy.

An important fixture in downtown Oberlin for students, professors, and town residents alike. Pretty damn good food (the buffalo shistawook, cilantro-lime-chicken salad and Feve burger are all consistently great), chill atmosphere, and a friendly bar staff make this a great place to drink or eat. Decent brew selection as well. Weekend brunch earns 5+ stars...an ever-changing menu of different sweet and savory cakes, exotic scrambles, and more. Outstanding. And affordable.

Man, I wish this place was there when I went to Oberlin. It opened up right as I was leaving, but at that time, it was just a coffee shop. Now it's got amazing food, a great cocktail menu, lots of space, and that brunch was off the hook. Seriously. I'm so jealous of Oberlin "kids these days" that they have this place.

Hot damn was this a nice find! My wife and I had taken a short road trip to take some photos at a near by state park and stopped in Oberlin for some grub and more photos. We parked right by The Feve but walked around first. We met a nice man who recommended The Feve, giving it good a good review. We took his word and he was spot on. we got a mix of burgers, wings, and stinky tots which are garlic tater tots that would make Tina feed them to Napoleon. Awesome vibe, good view, great service, and bad-ass food. Go there when you are in the areola!
