One of my favorite Mexican restaurants. Food is fresh and service is good. I go there often.

This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant. First, the decor is super cute. My not be everyone's taste but I thought it yielded a fun and colorful vibe. I ordered one of their house margaritas and really enjoyed it. Plus they brought chips and salsa to the table shortly after we sat down. I loved the salsa. It had a great fresh taste and I could easily pick up on the fresh cilantro. Yum! Plus the chips came out warm which I really enjoyed. I ordered the enchiladas supremas (no sour cream). The plate came out piping hot and I was very pleased with my order. The chicken enchilada in particular was stuffed full of shredded chicken. I felt this was great quality, especially for the price. My boyfriend ordered the burrito gigante. He really enjoyed it. We were both pleased with our meals, the service and the price we paid. I will return.

Bland tomato only salsa and rice and beans that tasted like nothing.... I don't know how they did that. Had to spit gristle from the chicken in my napkin. The place is cute and appeared clean, but the food, not so much. The service was adequate....after he saw us waving to him he would finally come over.

So I thought I would give this place one more chance and I was disappointed yet again ! I ordered a Pepsi, cheese quesadilla, and queso dip. The same female server that I had last time, brought out ALL of my food and no drink ! Wtf ??? I asked her for my Pepsi and she did apologize for not bringing it but after that she NEVER checked on me for refills or anything !! Why is she still working here ?!? I had to come up FOUR times for a refill, boxes, more chips, and my check. ..And keep in mind I was there a good hour. AWFUL SERVICE !

We went on a Sunday night with two adults, three kids with a coupon, for 12.99 for any 2 dinner combos. On Sunday nights they have happy hour ($1 beers) and kids eat for $1. So, I showed the coupon to the waiter and specifically asked if it was valid on Sunday nights, given the other discounts, he went over the menu with me and identified that any of the house specials entrees would apply. We ate food that was generally good for Midwest mexican, and liked the cheap draft beers. Fast service. The bill came and agh alas we are charged full price on our two entrees! ($12 more than the coupon would have been) so I asked the waiter, who quickly referred me to the manager. I explained my experience and what the waiter told me, the manager didn't care at all what the waiter told me! Oh no you can't use that coupon because these other things are only a dollar, i told him his waiter specifically said it would apply! i thought to myself this is the first restaurant I've ever been to, where a manager wouldn't honor what his waiter assured his customer was true. And didn't apologize, nothing just "oh no we can't do that." So the waiter screwed up, a manager should make it right, otherwise why should I believe anything a waiter there tells me in the future? To me it's not about the money it's the principle of it. A tangible lack of integrity. It will be a long time before I come back if at all.

I eat here frequently Food and service is lightning quick Atmosphere is pretty good but a little cramped. Food is good but it's Budget Mexican so it's not fantastic and that's ok. You know what your getting and it's consistent. Prices are really good, where else can you have a sit down lunch or dinner in 1/2 hour and pay like 25 bucks besides a fast food joint. Easy choice for a quick, cheap, decent meal

If you're going to go to El Picante, go to the one in Loveland. Better atmosphere, service, and staff than this location. Met some friends the other day to eat at this one. Wouldn't give us margaritas because it was Sunday? They do liquor on Sundays at the Loveland location. Not to mention every single one of our orders was not correct. My boyfriend asked for no cheese or sour cream on any of his food, and there was cheese on everything. And when my boyfriend told our server this, he had an attitude. I ordered an enchilada and got a quesadilla for some reason and our friends food was not correct as well. Chips and salsa were never refilled, even though we asked. And my boyfriend also asked for a side of tortillas he never received. I don't like this place at all and will remain loyal to the Loveland location.

This was my first visit here after church. I was very disappointed with this restaurant. It was obvious that they microwave their food. The plate is extremely hot but the food was warm. The food is very plain. No real flavor. Don't plan on returning.

Best Mexican restaurant around. The portions are huge, the drinks are great, and everything is reasonably priced. Jon and I always split the mixed fajitas and we ALWAYS have leftovers. Also if you love cheese dip order the queso with your chips. It doesn't get any better than this place the staff is amazing and so is the decor! I highly recommend this place!!

This place is a joke. They bring a entree that is not described on the menu at all and told us it was what we ordered. The waiter didn't have any respect to the customer. So rude and arrogant when we said what it said on the menu. It's supposed to have chicken, beef, and beans in 2 burritos. Instead they gave us tiny 2 enchiladas with just beef in those and refried beans on the side. The manager even told us we were wrong about what we ordered. Obviously, they can't speak English and they wont respect their customers neither. We've had most unpleasant experience at this Mexican restaurant. We will never come back to this disrespectful restaurant ever again.

Typical tex-mex food that pretends to be authentic. Chips, tomato-ey salsa, heated up beans over cooked rice and guacamole that looks like baby food. It's not terrible, but it's definitely not great. Even the Mexicans work there have to know it's very far from authentic. Change it to "kind of Mexican food". When I got home, my house smelled like tomato-ey farts.

We eat here on a very regular basis. Service is always fast, very friendly, and prices are good. Most importantly, the margaritas are giant and potent! Try # 54 Chori Pollo: a flattened, grilled chicken breast smothered in white cheese sauce and chorizo, served with tortillas, rice and beans. I also love the Burrito Acapulco (it has a tangy green sauce), and the salsa is addicting. Love that they let me order a side of cilantro!

One of the best neighborhood strip mall Mexican restaurants in Greater Cincinnati. Consistently very good food, friendly service, and above average tortilla chips! Gets very busy on weekends, which can lead to waits for tables and slightly slow service, but that is unavoidable with a popular joint.

El Picante is really delicious. It's almost always packed. Their chips are delicious, the portions are huge, and the service is really great!

Felt rushed to order and eat the minute we walked in. Over priced for the amount of food you get. Very bland tasting food as well. Or server did not seem interested in being at work. Will not be returning.

We (my wife and I) are definitely big fans of this place. The food is always solid and they have some of the best drinks of any Mexican place in cincy. We are definitely regulars here. There are currently two locations for el picante, the first being in Loveland and the second is this one in maineville. Ran by the same people and I'm pretty sure they have the exact same menu. If I had the choice between the two I would much rather go to this one because there are more places to sit. Unless you wanted to sit outside, the Loveland location has a pretty massive patio. Like I said, the food is pretty solid, no matter what you choose to get. As far as these types of Mexican restaurants are considered (not including nada), el picante is probably second when it comes to food, just behind el pueblo. That being said, most of the time, I would rather go here just because of the drinks.

Authentic Mexican food, great service and prices. Can't ask for more, this place is awesome. I can't wait to try everything on the menu. Definitely recommend that you stop by and eat here, well worth it.

Authentic Mexican food, margaritas and great service. What more could you ask for?

This El Picante is a little more cozy than the Loveland location. The booths are beautifully painted and the bar is tucked back into a corner. The food is wonderful as usually. I always order the fajitas but make sure to order less than the menu advertises. I prefer the staff at this location more than the Loveland location. The restrooms at this location are much nicer. The downside of this location is that they do not have an outdoor seating area and the bar is much smaller.

The service was courteous and prompt. The decor was authentic Mexican...in fact, imported the tables/chair combibnation from Mexico which was beautiful. We were camping nearby at Stonelick SP and decided to have lunch out of camp as the weather was not cooperating for other camping activities. Glad we did, the lunch menu is extensive and well priced for the quality and selection. I had the beef Chimi made with strips of beef, not ground beef and the DW had the special Burro with rice, beans chicken & beef. We'll definitely be coming back to this place for an encore.

The main ingredient in my Burritos California was seasoned salt. In fact, the chicken I had inside the burrito was orange in color. No other flavors could permeate the salt. I was very disappointed in my meal.

I'm not too impressed with this one. I have been there 4 times since they opened with family and our orders and checks were messed up each time. I do not recommend ordering the steak fajitas - both times I ordered them the meat was overcooked and dry. I hear the one in Loveland is better though. However, staff was extremely friendly and they have really nice high chairs for babies.

Usually go for dinner and drinks 3-4 times a month. The food is great and the margaritas are outstanding. Far better than your average Mexican restaurant

If you like the El Picante in Loveland, you can expect the same delicious experience up here in Maineville! They have your standard Mexican food classics...along with great service. The food doesn't take too long, the portions are huge, and everything is really yummy. This place is a winner, and our go-to when we're craving authentic Mexican. You won't be disappointed!

Very good food. I'm not sure if this is a four or five because I am not a Mexican expert. Always packed. Very friendly and family friendly. Very tasty and fast. Expect a wait on Friday or Saturday nights. Finally a hit in Maineville!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
