The patio & service are usually very good. Tonight was the exact opposite! Out server Jonathan took our order and said the bar was backed up. A lot of time went by and we still didn't have our drinks. I walked up to the bar & there were our drinks sitting there as our server was chatting away with a coworker. I asked the bar if u could take our drinks & she said no they belong to another table. I said can I at least get our drinks. They ended up being our drinks after some research & she let me take the summery shandys half filled without lemon. Then we wait for our appetizer & it comes out with our food! We finish the little cheese that came with our pretzel bites & I ask for another. Again, another ten min goes by. He finally drops off the cheese. Another ten min goes by and he swipes our food we are in the process of eating off the table without asking if we are done or need a box. The next time we jogged passed I screamed for our check. He brought it and charged us for the cheese! After our unfinished food and having to fetch our drinks u r going to charge us?! THERE GOES TIP & I am no longer a regular!!!

Loved the food and the chef. He came around and asked how our food was; which was yummy. Love their fries. I had the Italian sub which was great. My husband loved their nachos and the chicken Philly sandwich. The only downfall is that the waitress was lacking... They weren't too busy but I'm nit sure of she was the only one there or not but she took forever and forgot to turn in part of our order.

Thank you Abby and Prim! Because of Abby, the hostess and Prim our server, we will be back! Service, very good, food good. We had the Greek quesadilla and the chicken quesadilla, stuffed with fillings, served with fries. Seems like a decent beer selection and diverse food menu.

This place a chance to be great but they keep on failing. The outside patio is nice and they are located in a good spot. The food is decent at best but the service is consistently bad. They seem to be always understaffed which stresses the waitresses and kitchen resulting in either bad food and or slow service. The patio needs to be smoke free as well. If they need to smoke have a spot in the parking lot for them or somewhere else. Again, I hope this place turns around but there are much better places near by to go.

Food was awesome. Waitress working there looked like she just rolled out of bed kept fixing her bra so gross. Not sure if I go there again maybe for pickup. Hand cut fries were great.

The food here is okay. Decent pizza, burgers, and gyros. Service is inconsistent and the bar tenders don't seem to be able mix more than a very basic mixed drink. What really keeps me from returning here is the clientele. Depending on time of day, the crowd can be rowdy, drunk, and unfriendly. The later it is, the worse the atmosphere is.

Good place for appetizers and drinks!! If you happen to be on a time crunch I wouldn't suggest coming here. Service is scattered and slow.

Not much to say about Otie's. Typical bar food and beer selection. I had the Bells Two Heated IPA on draft ($5), which can be found almost everywhere now. Then had a canned Dale's Pale Ale ($3.50) which isn't a bad price considering the ABV. They also had the canned GUBNA Imperial IPA, which I haven't come across in too many places. And yes, they CBC IPA, but in bottles only. Signature thick-cut baloney sandwich is definitely worth trying-have had it once. Not a destination but a great place to stop for a burger and fresh-cut fries if in the area. I had the Buckeye Burger with fries for $8.95. Spacious place with a lot of Buckeyes decor and small TVs hanging around the perimeter. Outdoor patio space with limited parking out back.

Great food and outside area. Try the combination platter or chicken casaer wrap. My favorites. If there was a designated smoking area away from the outdoor seating, that move this to a 5.

    Best fried baloney in Columbus.

Oties is a Hilliard-billy staple. Bar is in an old Hilliard building in a prime location. Nice outdoor patio right on Main Street. Good beer and long old school bar. The real surprise to some is the quality of the food. While the menu is heavy on bar staples, all of the food is way above the average bar fare. The Otie Baloney sandwich is a classic. Thick cut of baloney grilled with your choice of toppings. YUM!! The fries are really good, thin - fresh cut, kinda like fair fries, if you know what I mean. Haven't really had anything I regret here. Definitely worth a try if you are in the neighborhood.

We have been here 3 times.. All I can remember from the first time is the lack of menu. The second time was about 3-4 months ago. My husband and I went for happy hour and dinner. Happy hour lacks a lot. I got the Reuben gyro which was really good and my husband got the fried bologna which he said tasted like a hot dog, nothing to brag about. I got a Great Lakes Christmas Ale which is one of my favs and it tasted horrible, the beer lines there are horrible. We decided to go there a few days ago because its close to our house, it was nice out, and they have a large patio. First of all, you walk around aimlessly because there is no hostess, until you ask someone how seating goes. Apparently its seat yourself. So we sat on the patio and the table was filthy. It took about 15mins to get anyone to come to our table, in the mean time waiters passed us multiple times. Finally we ordered drinks and looked at the ONE menu we were given. They were out of blue moon so I ordered a purple haze. About 10-15 mins later someone came out and said that was out too. So I ordered Bells Oberon. We got our drinks after being there about a half hour and they were terribllllleeeeee..... I cant express that enough. My Bells tasted like half Oberon and half bud light.. blahhhh! I didn't even finish it. So I got a little irritated and after about 10mins with our beer and no one coming to get a food order I decided we were going to Old Bag of Nails for dinner. Good choice! We will not being coming back here. Its a shame, I like the patio

We stopped here about two months ago for lunch. There appears to be some remodeling going on which may account for some of the issues here. First off, this place needs a really deep CLEANING! Food and dirt noted on the floor and on the corners. All in all, the place looks really beat up.On to the food....mediocre at best...I imagine the microwave gets a good workout in the kitchen. I suggest you walk a few hundred feet north to the "Irish" place up the block for a pint with some fish and chips!

I signed up for yelp just to write this review. Went to Oties this past Friday after the Hilliard parade, hadn't been there in years and this definitely isn't the same place anymore! Our party of ten people sat down and didn't have a server come to us with menus for 20 minutes! When a server finally came she asked if anyone had helped us, completely clueless to social cues of not seeing us with menus! She handed us menus and never took our drink orders, we sat fur 40 minutes at a table and got no attention so we walked out!!! Worst restaurant experience I've ever had, it's honestly not that hard to know that the parade was on the same street so customers would be showing up, later heard from friends that they had a similar experience a year earlier and the waitress told them that they didn't know they'd have that much business?? Hire more staff or close up and let a REAL restaurant open up there, complete lack of business sense! I'll never return and recommend you go elsewhere!

We have really liked Oties! We have had okay service, however their green beans are to die for! They are pretty tasty. We also like that there is free wifi inside and outside so if we have to study there is an outlet all the way in the very back that we can quietly hang out in. If you get a chance definitely try the green beans!

Food ok but they are way under staffed and those working there are poorly trained. Bathrooms below average for a bar with no paper towels and dirty floors... Kind of makes you wonder if employees are really washing their hands before returning to work.

Otie's is a nice place to hang out with friends for almost any age. They have great bar food, a decent selection of beer on tab, sports on the tv's and a patio for relaxing during the warmer months. The mix of people is good, and the staff and patrons are nice. Staff turnover is high however so don't bother getting to know the bartender or waitress. A couple things which bring it down a star is the nasty mens restroom and the fact that people like to bring their little kids with them (which is extremely odd, IMO). If either of these things bother you then you might want go elsewhere.

I love this place, the patio is so cute. They have a wide variety on the menu, most of which I like. The only thing is I don't really like their fries, they remind me of five guys fries and ugh too much grease. Otherwise they have a decent beer selection, good food for a bar, and a fantastic patio.

Have gone here twice with my wife for dinner and drinks. The most recent was yesterday around 5pm. We decided to sit out on the patio. There were 4 empty tables that needed cleaned off from previous customers. It took 10 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge us. The ketchup bottle had dried ketchup running down the outside and the label was faded from the sun. Really? You can't clean the bottle off or put fresh one out? The food isn't terrible but it sure isn't good either. The time that passes between interactions with the wait staff are just unacceptable. We watched two different tables sit, wait for service then just get up and leave. I find it hard to believe the owner or manager could watch people walk in and leave 10-15 later and not ask why. I almost want to call bar rescue for them and let John Taffer fix their poor service and cleanliness issues. Won't ever be back. EVER

Great place to hang out and have a good beer. They don't have the most inventive selection but what they have is tasteful. Pretty nice patio too.

Service sucks. Our bar maid the other day was terrible. Rude and slow. I've been here a few times and the staff just gets worse. The food is only mediocre to deal with that.

  • Liz H.

Poor staff. Walked in at 627pm not one waitress not the bartender even acknowledged us. No one was sitting inside! Not enough patio tables given that every single one was full and we saw several other parties walk out because they couldn't accommodate them. We sat at the bar, the girl must have been new. She did t say anything to us while we waited there and then finally asked what we wanted. Never told us happy hour specials. When we asked what they were she couldn't even make eye contact with us and then just stopped telling us what they were because someone else asked her a question. Then she walked away. Terrible wait staff service. We will not be going back to this restaurant ever again

Newly remodeled outside and the dining area inside looks GREAT but the bar is still the same old bar it has been for years which is not a bad thing! Hilliard is historical after all. Great food, good prices, and usually a really fun atmosphere. Nothing like sitting on the patio, hanging out with some friends and listening to one of the live singers/bands they have throughout the summer. The waitstaff is hit or miss though. Most of the time you will get someone that knows just what they are doing, keeps your beer filled and your needs at bay. But a little too often you get someone that appears to be her first day and she was thrown to the wolves. Most likely the cause of (what I would assume) is their uptick of business in the summer requiring more seasonal help than a typical bar.

Met a coworker for lunch on a weekday, and it was almost empty. The service was good but unintrusive. I had been jonesing for a baloney sandwich- need to get up to Waldo- so I tried the one here. It was darn good, as were the fries. If this place were in my neighborhood, I'd probably be there a lot. As it is, I don't know when I'll be back that way.

Unfortunately, a change in management and ownership has removed the original founder and owner Otie from this establishment. As a result, the quality of service and food has suffered and I can no longer support the establishment. The last "hilliard 4th Friday"(mini- reunion) resulted in the new management team with their pants down. Service was a big ZERO. Even at the bar, instead of dedicating a bartendeer to a line that was 20 people deep, they decided to ignore the line - which resulted in a 30 minute wait for a single order. HEY NEW MANAGEMENT TEAM - UNACCEPTABLE!!!! People on the patio were served by multiple servers who didn't even track the tabs. My honest friends paid a server for what they drank. I wonder how many people walked out that night with NO bar tab because the newly trained servers evidently have no clue on how to run multiple tabs for patrons. What's up with the bouncer at the front door - Otie's has always been a welcoming establishment - are you planning to charge admission to drink a beer or to eat deep fried bar food? WTF??!!! Why the hell is this new management team - and where did they get their procedures manual? Is Otie's now a premium club? Is it a fricking dance club with modern country music? Is it because your inadequate bar staff can't be expected to check id's and serve a beer? I can see where that would cause them troubles... How unfortunate - OTIE has been a fixture to the Hilliard community, supporting its schools, the Old Hilliard community, and anything and everything HILLIARD. The removal of such a fixture really can cause a very loyal community to stop coming through your doors. What will the bouncers do now? If Otie is NOT in the bar, perhaps it shouldn't be called Otie's. A half assed approach to running a community institution will NOT even approach the local neighborhood ambience and atmosphere that attracted we former patrons.

Pros: Food came quick; server was good Cons: Food wasn't the greatest; a little expensive, especially beer and appetizers; a little unwelcoming aura when you walk in the front door, everyone stares; there is no alcohol menu, you have to sit there and ask how much everything is and hope they have something if you ask for it. I mean, do they serve every single kind of beer? Obviously not, so i'd like to know my choices. Do they serve specialty liquer mixes like an Irish Car Bomb or a Long Island Iced Tea? Idk, didn't feel like getting stared at again, nor should I need to ask 50 questions. That's what a menu is for. Oh and the parking sucks. Haha

Definitely not a first choice but I have never had a "bad" experience at Otie's. I have gone a few times just with my husband which was fine, and then we went to with a group of 8 and they sat us sit near the bar in the front room - servers are always really friendly if not funny and witty, which adds to the small town tavern experience. they need a higher quantity of bigger TVs in the bar area because we had to keep lurching around to see the game we were looking for. It gets really loud in Otie's due to the setup, granted I have only been in Winter so the patio wasn't out yet which might be why it was so packed. anyway, it works if you have no where better to be but again, not my 1st choice...

After a nice ride on the Rails To Trails path, a friend and I were craving a beer. We looked no further than Oties, which was only a few hundred yards away. Covered in sweat, and wearing more spandex than David Lee Roth (I stole this joke from a fellow cyclist - too funny not to repeat), we entered the bar only to be greeted with many stares. Our minor embarrassment was short lived when we saw more than our fair share of sweat pants and jean shorts on this particular Friday night. This could possibly explain the stripper pole - or metal pole that looked like a stripper pole - in the middle of the bar. Or perhaps the blaring 80s music? (I enjoyed the latter very much, though.) To our delight, Oberon was on tap, and cold, and they also had fried baloney sandwiches. Yes, that's right, baloney. The Otie Baloney to be exact. And this little sammie is named one of the best fried baloney's in Columbus! Agreed. That thing hit the spot! Overall, I'd go back for another beer or sammie after a ride, or if I lived nearby, but this corner pub was just OK.

This place is kinda gross inside and seems to attract the typical "townie" but the food (as far as bar food goes) is pretty damn good. I would highly advise you to order a Gyro - they have a variety. Personally, I enjoy the chicken w/feta, lettuce, red onion, with a yummy version of their tsziki sauce. The also have great burgers. Their fries are shoestring - very greasy but very good! The have an excellent beer selection. I think it's best to hit this place up for NFL Sunday but not before a Davidson football game if you want to get a seat.

I love Oties! I've had their American Burger a few times and it is always cooked perfectly. Their fries are delicious. I also recommend the fried green-beans. They manage to make them crispy without making the bean soggy and the dipping sauce is great. This is an awesome place to hang out and have a drink on the patio on a nice night. Most recently when my husband & I went there they had a live band that was great.

The atmosphere upon entering was very unwelcoming. We came at dinner time and there was no greeter, etc. Then we waited forever after finding our own table. The food was not worth the price we paid.

This place is like the rowdy and rougher version of Old Bag of Nails just up the street. Good beer selection, traditional greasy bar food, nice social atmosphere.

My husband and I went to Otie's last Friday to get together with some friends from high school. I hadnt been to Otie's for several years, but we really enjoyed ourselves there. We didnt get a chance to use the outdoor patio given that it is still winter outside. Inside we met up with alot of old friends and the atmosphere was quite nice. You didnt have to deal with the smoke (thank goodness!) that you used to experience at bars, which was VERY nice. We ordered a few drinks from the bar and the place seemed to keep hoppin' all night. It did seem to get a little crowded in there close to 10 pm, but that was kind of expected. A few of our friends had food and said that it was ok. From what I saw, the food didnt seem to be very appetizing. This seems to be a place where you go out, have a few drinks and enjoy the company of your friends. We look forward to going back again!

The Gyros here are amaze-balls and they have a great beer selection. $5 burgers all day wednesday.... Definitely a place to sheck-ow

A fun, casual place for good food and drinks. We go there after musical rehearsals and always have a blast out on the patio. The tzatziki is divine! The servers are friendly and on top of things, which is no small feat with our large group.

Otie's has the best Bologna sandwich in Columbus along with their awesome deep fried green beans. The staff was friendly and helpful picking the best items off the menu. The BBQ wings were also an excellent choice. A very inexpensive place to drink and have great food.

  • Leah A.

I love the location and the feel of the place but it keeps switching hands and so far I haven't seen any management hands that are helping it. I took my friend there for the awesome homemade mozz. sticks only to be told they no longer made them because they were too expensive, so they gave us the ones that taste like something from a bowling alley. Last time I was there (about 2 months ago) I was told ownership had switched hands again and was now owned by the owner of Jimmy V's and Red Door Tavern. Hopefully that will help it and not hurt it. Our server was complaining about the new owner, saying he was raising prices and making them count every dressing, etc. they gave out and charging for it.

I totally agree with T-Bone's review! This place has a certain cozy charm to it. I think the outdoor seating area is great, the prices reasonable an service friendly. The dance area is quite small but it is still very fun! The DJ is easily accessible and is so cool about taking requests. I'm going to order myself a fried bologna sandwich now.

Haven't found anything I don't like yet. They expanded their patio before last season and it's a great place to relax on a warm evening. Good selection at the bar. I haven't had anything to eat at Otie's that I didn't like. The pizza is worth the wait, the bologne sandwich is delicious, the wings are meaty, the hamburgers juicy, and the salads fresh (and big!). Great place to watch Buckeye football.

  • Kurt D.

Decent food, good calzones and fried bologna. Server named Andy is horrible, AVOID this lazy jerk. I saw him yell at some lady's children for spilling a soda. NOT a family place, the locals get too drunk.

Let's give it up for fried bologna! Used to come here with my grandma. It's got a lot of warmth.
