This is seriously the best Indian food you'll find east of columbus. It looks a little uncertain from the outside, but the food is so good and the service is fantastic. The lunch buffet is perfectly varied- they have the classics (chicken tikka masala, a type of saag- either paneer or chicken, different meat curries) but they also swap out entrees so that you get some variety. They also give fresh warm naan from their clay oven as soon as you sit down. The only thing is that since they are a shared building with the econo lodge, their bathrooms aren't the best. But even with that, their food is so good we come back about 3-4 times a month!

Wow. I can honestly say I have never been to any restaurant, anywhere, that provided this kind of service, great food and the most welcoming, generous atmosphere you could possibly want. It really was as though their only purpose for the evening was to serve their customers and make them happy. We arrived and there were two HUGE tables of people (15-20 each) which taxed the limited number of waiters--2 or 3 max. Immediately we were presented with a small bowl of chicken soup, some appetizers (tandoori chicken), and throughout the evening were offered additional rice, extra wine, we were even asked if we wanted more Chicken Tikka Masala, but it was pretty obvious we were totally stuffed as we finished off massive amounts of CTM, Naan, Curried Chicken, a pickle compote, extra Malbec, and Pepsi. After the meal, they brought the most delicious rice pudding and mango pudding, as well as a cup of chai. The only mixup was that we ordered samosas and they didn't' bring them with the meal, but there was so much else that was offered we were happy to forget them. They are not able to make some mixed drinks (martini) but again, it didn't matter--they are so eager to please, and they don't disappoint!

If this restaurant ever decides to move from Health, I invite it to come to Charleston, WV where we live. Excellent, well-balanced spices in the Indian fare, genuinely friendly wait-staff, many extra dishes "on the house." Good value for the money. You'll be tempted to leave an exorbitant tip. Succumb to the temptation. Ignore the motel location and the wall decor.

Indian food was always my least favorite until eating here. Tried several restaurants in Los Angeles from affordable to high end and was never a fan....though all my friends are. Tried Taste of India while visiting the area last month and it was INCREDIBLE. I couldn't wait to come back. It was my first stop from the airport today. The complimentary chicken soup is delicious and the rice could not be more flavorful and tender. Every dish tastes different and unique. I cannot pick a favorite. The service is outstanding and the portions are generous. The people are warm and friendly too. I highly recommend this wonderful place!

An EconoLodge in Heath, Ohio, is the last place I would expect great Indian food. And yet, here's Taste of India. Our party of two ordered three dishes between us, but they also sent out a few extra dishes for us to taste (on the house!), presumably things they were trying out in the kitchen. There wasn't a single thing that was less than delicious. I didn't catch all the names, but the chicken tikki marsala was exceptionally good--very tender. The food was a great value at its normal prices, although I urge you to get there while the owner is plying customers with new items--our leftovers alone would have fed three more. If you like Indian food, you'll love this place. If you've never had Indian food, then this is the place to go; the staff really wants you to enjoy the cuisine. I really hope Licking County appreciates what a gem it has in its midst.

This place was unbelievable! Probably one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. If you look at my reviews, you will notice that I hardly ever give 5 stars but this place defiantly deserved it! I would give them 6 if I could. Well done! I will definitely be coming back!

We are absolutely amazed at the quality of food coming out of this Indian kitchen. The last time we went, we had the buffet, which is packed with tasty food, dips, fresh breads, and soup. We were brought fresh naan bread right to the table, which is house made and cooked in a tandoori oven and is very good. The bartender came to our table and asked us if we like spicy food. When we replied that we did, she went to the kitchen and brought back some chili oil so we could adjust the spiciness of our dishes!! I have a lot of good things to say and I am very happy to see more culture popping up in this city. Do yourself a favor and try something new, if you have never had Indian food. This is VERY authentic, they do not disappoint on quality, and I promise you will find plenty of things to like. And the staff are the nicest people!!! ENJOY!!

Hands down the best restaurant in Heath, Oh. The wait staff is very polite and accommodating. The food is delicious and prices are very reasonable.

I'm torn... I want there to be Indian food in my neighborhood... But I don't want that Indian food to be gross. The saag wasn't even green... It was kind of a gray sage color... This tells me it's probably way overcooked. I appreciate their effort and how difficult it must be to open up an Indian restaurant in Heath Ohio, but I just wish they used fresh ingredients and put love into their food.

Decided to take my wife out for supper tonight. Wow!! What a wonderful experience. We were greater and immediately after being seated we were given a cup of chicken soup. Excellent! My wife and I ordered different dishes, which came with special bread. When our meals arrived we were given a free entree to try! With full bellies, we were preparing to leave the server brought out dessert and chai tea!! An excellent experience from beginning to end! Very few numbers of diners. Licking County, don't lose this restaurant. Try it!

Came in to try the buffet. Everything was excellent. Clean restaurant, friendly staff. The place was mostly empty. I hope the locals realize what kind of gem they have among all of the corporate restaurants. Please support this place, you won't be disappointed!

What a find, and totally worth the drive. Before I even saw a menu, the waiter brought us mango lassis, soup and samosas. I confess I had never had any Indian soup that was all that memorable, this soup was flavorful and had just the right amount of spice. I asked about their buffet knowing it was probably a lunch buffet, simply because every Indian place has one, so they offered a mix and match dinner consisting of four chicken dishes, four vegetarian dishes, basmati and white rice, naan and garlic naan. I couldn't pass that up! Before the dinner was served, to my surprise they brought out tandoori chicken and a third kind of bread. What a wonderful surprise, they did not count the tandoori as one of the chicken dishes. I didn't catch what the bread was called, but will definitely have to go back for more, was not like any naan I have ever had, simply delicious. The chicken and vegetable dishes were fantastic, the entire meal was wonderful, as was the service. It is hard for me to not select chicken tikka masala as my favorite but the chicken saag was perfection, my son's favorite was the aloo gobi. They even brought fries for my little man without being asked, probably didn't think he would eat Indian food; I certainly wouldn't even expect an Indian restaurant to have fries. The bill for all of that was $38.99! Forget driving to Bethel/Sawmil area for Indian, from now on I'm going to Heath!

I decided to talk my wife into trying this place today. We got there about 30 minutes before the buffet ended and we quickly got our plates. I have heard how fresh they keep their buffet but everything on there had been sitting for a while without being touched. I loaded up my plate to try a bit of everything and headed back to my table. While we were gone the server filled our glasses with water, set the water on the table, and I didn't see him until check time. I must admit that I am accustomed to high quality, well made, Indian food and this just wasn't it. I am a sucker for a good Chicken Tikka Masala but this one seemed to lack any of the signature flavors. Everything else was ok but after all of the raving that I have heard from this place I would expect better than ok. Ok is what it was so next time I will just head into Columbus instead of towards Newark.

Excellent Indian food! We ordered a sampler of several different chicken dishes, vegetarian dishes and two different kinds of naan. The service was amazing and helpful. Can't believe this place was hiding in Hebron. We will be back again!

Don't let the location fool you... Excellent, prompt service. Had the butter chicken, chicken korma, and chicken curry. All amazing, but the butter chicken was just amazing. I'll be heading back as soon as I can. Definitely best Indian food in the 50 mile radius of Columbus.

I just ate here for the first time, even though I am local and enjoy Indian food. Something about the motel location turned me off...well that was really dumb. This might be the best meal I've had in a long time. We walked in and were warmly greeted by the owner, a manager AND our waiter. We sat down and were immediately given a glass of mango lassi and a cup of soup. Both delicious. As we perused the menu, we were given a delicious fried bread, not naan, I think it was the lentil bread...with mint and another dip that were both delicious. We ordered an appetizer (veggie samosa) because my daughter likes it, that was good too. We ordered two entrees, tandoori chicken and shrimp briyani. I already felt like this would be a lot of food but we had a hungry teen at home so we went for it. Well we had NO IDEA...the tandoori was like an entire chicken, the shrimp dish a large bowl...and then we were given two more bowls of different rices and three small amounts of other entrees. It was a ridiculous amount of food and all of it was amazing. When the owner asked my daughter why she didn't have any chicken, she told him she doesn't eat meat...well out came another dish of fried cheese (sorry forget the menu item), We ordered garlic naan too, and it was terrific. It ended with a sweet tea with cream and a mango custard. The service was impeccable, every dish was delicious and even without all the free samples of things, Taste of India would have been a must-return. And we certainly will, very soon.

I don't know that much about Indian food but I do know that Taste of India got it right! This is one of my best friend's fave places to eat so she took me here when I visited...I loved it! I can't believe all of the free pre entree food you get. Our waiter was very nice and attentive, he recognized my friend which I thought was nice. I had the Chicken Tikki Masala...so good, my fave was the FREE soup though.

My husband, 10 year son, and I ate dinner here last night and it was spectacular! We were served complimentary chicken soup as soon as we sat down, and it was perfect. I ordered the chicken tikka masala, my son ordered the tandoori sampler, and my husband ordered the goat. All of the dishes were cooked to perfection. The garlic butter naan was to die for. After our meal out server brought us all complimentary tea and rice pudding. The dining room was nicely decorated, and the bathrooms were clean. If you are looking to drink, the also offer a full bar. I have never left a review, but Taste of India was amazing. Will definitely be a regular spot from now on, as well as ordering take out on those busy nights when I just don't feel like making dinner.

Really? how could this place next to a motel have so many 5 star reviews? I tell you they are well deserved. The best part of this place is the service. We are new to indian food and they were patient, helpful, and even gave us samples to try. They made the experience fun and comfortable. We had a large group so we were able to try several different dishes, we liked them all. Everyone had a good time and left full and happy. This is a place i would happily visit again. I look forward to finding what other entrees we will enjoy.

I was amazed to see an Indian restaurant in Newark that had a five star rating, so we had to check it out. It is excellent! We had a sampler dinner for two. It had three chicken dishes, three vegetable dishes, three different rices and two types of bread. Wow! Ate until we were full and have two boxes of leftovers to take home. Great flavors, generous portions and the best service I have ever had in a restaurant. (And I have dined in some five star restaurants. This restaurant's customer service beats the five stars hands down.). So happy to have a new favorite restaurant!

  • Steve E.

Great place for Indian buffet. Ken the maître de/waiter brings me iced tea and wheat roti (trying to cut enriched flours) without my even asking ( I have been here 8 or so times) How cool is that? Always have chicken curry, butter chicken and goat curry (bone-in which is a drag but still great flavor) and an assortment of veggie dishes. They always bring the naan or roti fresh to your table - a lot of Indian restaurants in Columbus have it piled on the buffet table and it dries out and cools quickly. If you are an Indian food lover take this trip to gastronomic nirvana. Steve from Reynoldsburg

Like other reviewers, we were impressed by the food quality and flavor. Also by the servers and the complimentary dishes they bring you. The location, in a much changing spot attached to a motel, make you think it is a dive but it is not! We got complimentary appetizers, naan and desert. They try hard to impress and they deserve the attention. Lest very full but satisfied.

After many years living in the Newark area, I have learned that delicious healthy meals and Licking County are oxymoronic. Now appears Taste of India. A hidden gem of delicious and healthy ethnic dishes served in a clean and tasteful environment. The family who owns the establishment take pride in their foods and seek to please the consumer. All I can say is BRAVO!

I love Indian food so I stopped in for the lunch buffet. It was just ok. The naan was superb but nothing else really stood out. The buffet was pretty much empty & the staff was not quick to refill it. We sat for awhile waiting but nothing was added so we left.

It seems amazing that this place has so many 5 star reviews. But after eating there I found that it is well deserved. The service was great. We went with a group of 10 people. They accommodated us no problem. Food came out quickly. They gave us some samples of other foods we didn't even order just to try. Very cool. I recommend the garlic naan over the others. Just ignore the fact that it's attached to a hotel.

This place is AWESOME!! (this review does not include Indian dish names or correct terms. It's meant to provide insight to those rarely exposed to authentic cuisine.) I was thoroughly impressed by the polite staff, efficient service, and delightful food. The experience begins with soup, salad, and drinks. Then you order (if you have never been, the waiter will gladly answer any questions). Your menu choices are served hot along with at least "on the house" dishes to try. After enjoying the scrumptious feast, you are then treated with hot chai tea, rice pudding dessert, and a type of donut drizzled with honey. While you are clearly in a food coma, your check is dropped off by the polite server. You pay your bill, then IMMEDIATELY tell everyone you meet about this amazing restaurant in Heath, Oh. (Yes, the introverted will find themselves chatting with complete strangers. Indeed, epic.)

Wow! This is the best Indian food I have ever had. I have come here several times for dinner and the lunch buffet (which is 8 dollars for all you can eat, such a great deal!) and I have never been disappointed. The lemon rice is delicious, also the naan is so yummy and made fresh. You cannot go wrong with any of the meat dishes. Also try the mango lassi! Great value, service, and excellent food!!

I was looking forward to eating here based on the reviews on Yelp. And, wow, I was not disappointed. After eating at many Indian restaurants overseas, I became addicted to butter chicken, which i have never seen in an Indian restaurant in America, until Taste of India. My husband and I eagerly ordered a dish as well as the lamb vindaloo. As other reviewers have posted we were treated to chicken soup as soon as we sat down and then were immediately served a plate of tandoori chicken. Then our mains arrived shortly after and the butter chicken was as good as any I've ever had. We were also served a complimentary dish of chicken korma and a free second helping of naan bread. Then, we had free rice pudding and chai tea! Honestly, the butter chicken was so good, we ordered a dish to take home with us. Although, I wish we had ordered a dish of lemon rice to go with it as well, because it too was delectable. Our takeaway bag included more free goodies as well. I had only two complaints. The lamb was overcooked, but the flavor was so good, we overlooked this. Also, the service and freebies were so excellent, we were forced to leave a very large tip! If you are considering trying this restaurant, do it! And order the butter chicken with lemon rice! You'll love it!

The food itself was delicious and perfectly spiced. After our meal, they brought us multiple desserts and chai tea. I left a very happy (and very full) person! SO DELICIOUS! I have a new favorite Indian restaurant now! We ordered our dinner to-go and when my husband arrived to pick up the food he was treated to complimentary soup, which he said was very tasty and had a complex flavor. The vegetarian samosas were delightful and came with yummy sauces for dipping. I had the fish (tilapia) curry, medium spicy, and it was PERFECT! Just the right amount of spice to make my nose run, which is what I want when eating Indian! The fish was tender and wonderful. My husband had the chicken tikka masala and he was very enthusiastic about the flavor and quality of the meat. The butter naan was the perfect compliment to our meal. We cannot wait to go back!!!

ENJOY!!

Don't let the location fool you... Excellent, prompt service. Had the butter chicken, chicken korma, and chicken curry. All amazing, but the butter chicken was just amazing. I'll be heading back as soon as I can. Definitely best Indian food in the 50 mile radius of Columbus.
