Stopped here for lunch while I was in Newark for a meeting. I was not disappointed. First I'll start with the food. I ordered wonton soup and an egg roll as an appetizer and sesame chicken as my entree. The soup was perfect. Not too salty and the noodles were a good consistency. The egg roll was a little over cooked but still good. The sesame chicken was some of the best I've ever had. The sauce was delicious but not overpowering like some Chinese places seem to do, drowning everything in it. It had a good balance. The service was great as well. Not only was the waitress helpful and attentive but the owner Billy himself came over a few times to check in and see if I was satisfied. I love when the owner takes pride in his food and service. Sadly, I'm not in the Newark/Heath area much, but I would definitely go back given the chance. Highly recommended!

We decided that we had to try this place after several suggestions. And we weren't disappointed. Billy Lees is a nice, clean, spacious place that is family friendly. Staff is super friendly and kind. Our food was good. What I enjoyed most were the quality of the meats. So many Chinese places use terribly quality meat; this is not the case here. The beef was lean and tender with good flavor. The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars? I've just yet to find a particular dish that I really love. They're all good though, and the service and quality keep us going back. :)

A very nice place to eat. The hot and sour soup was good. The dishes chicken and shrimp and house special Lo Mein is really good. There have been several restaurants in this location that didn't make it but this restaurant chef brings out some top notch cooking. I can say that because of my worldwide gourmet taste in chinese cooking.

Best Pad Thai in the area. Chicken or shrimp either one. Giant portions with giant pieces of protein.

Pretty good! Really fast, the crab rangoon was the best I've ever had, and the general tso's chicken was decent. I'll definately be back@

As other have said, one of the best in the area. I prefer to eat more unusual dishes so I usually get their Singapore noodles. The combo has a variety of meats and the curried rice noodles and vegetables are quite flavorful. Restaurant is usually mostly empty which is a shame.

Billy Lee's is probably the best Chinese food in the Newark/Heath area right now. Their food is well-seasoned and never greasy-even the crab rangoons and fried wontons. The only thing I've ever had there that I didn't like was their steamed dumplings..mushy noodles and very little 'stuffing' plus weird, unusual dipping sauce for it. I like their "normal" chinese takeout selection..good, spicy hunan chicken, light and crunchy sweet & sour (just get it with the sauce on the side), but my favorite item on the menu is their chicken wraps. You get chicken and vegetables in a brown sauce served with big leaves of lettuce to wrap them in. They're nice for when you're like me and you want soup, crab rangoons and then an entree but you don't want to leave SOO stuffed. Don't get me wrong, they give you plenty, but since there's less carbs than most of the entrees, it doesn't seem as heavy.

Easily the best Chinese food in this area. Always fresh and large portions for a great price. Love the hot and sour soup and eggrolls here also.

We will come here again. We came on our lunch break. The service was quick and friendly, the food came out quick, and the portions were large. 6 out of 7 of us took food home for later.

The building is an apparently repurposed fast food joint so it isn't much to look at. They do have restaurant table cloths covered with butcher's paper as so many restaurants do. The waitress was pleasant and very young. As no alcoholic beverages are served here, I ordered a lemonade. The waitress, seeing my beverage was low some time later, came by and topped it off with water but immediately brought another lemonade. I ordered a vegetable spring roll, hot and sour soup and the ever popular General Tso's chicken. The wassabi mustard that came with the spring role was pleasantly and surprisingly potent. The hot and sour soup could have used a little more of an edge but I've had far worse and I would order it again. The General Tso was a little sweet and some of the bits of chicken could have been better but for the price, that was to be expected. Dinner for two with appetizers cost all of $35. Good Chinese food in this part of the state can be difficult to come by and this restaurant warrants a return visit or two. However, they do seem to do a good deal of takeout business and told us they do deliver to our neighborhood (at least 6 or 7 miles away). Since they have as of yet not been reviewed on yelp*, I thought I should put one up! The food is good but the building might easily deter one from stopping in. So if you're looking for decent Chinese in Newark/Heath, stop in!

We've lived in the area for several years and had never tried this place, our mistake, we should have been here years ago. I was greeted by the owner, all the staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was amazing with large portions. The vegetables were fresh. The hot and sour soup was absolutely the best I've ever had. The dinning room was clean, spacious and very well lit. Definitely one of the better restaurants in the area. We plan to return again later this week.

All-in-all, this is not a Honey-moon caliber restaurant, and is a typical "College Chinese Food" joint, however the quality of the food is exceptional, the service is spot on with a welcoming staff and the owner (who is also the cook) takes the time to make his rounds, making sure everyone's meals were cooked to their liking. This is one of the best Chinese restaurants I have eaten at for the price range. First off, let me say that I hate, and I mean HATE egg-drop soup that is normally served in "westernized" Chinese restaurants. Generally speaking, it is overly thick, and has an off-putting taste. Not so here. Soup came with my main meal and I off handedly ordered egg drop expecting to take a spoon full for courtesy sake. I was shocked after taking the first slurp and finding myself unable to put down my spoon until the bowl had been practically licked clean. The consistency was perfect, and not saturated with corn starch. The flavor was rich and savory, and I would be willing to give this location a 5 star review simply for the soup alone. My main course was beef Lo Mein, which had a slightly "off-putting flavor" (insert joke face). It wasn't until half way though I noticed that what I was tasting as "off-putting" was real, actual beef. Most Chinese joints tend to cook the taste right out of the protein, or either over compensate with sauce. The dish was perfectly seasoned, the beef was fresh and flavorful, and the noodles were not greasy from over use of oil. The inside is also quite clean and well kept. Try to come before 12pm or after 2pm as it tends to get quite crowded around lunch time.

After seeing the other reviews I'm sorry to say I'll be posting the black mark on the record. Attempted to order take away only to find the phone number on their website was no longer in service. No biggy, just ordered when I got there and waited. The prices per entree ended up being steeper than other Chinese places in town by as much as 5$ or so. Wait time for as much food as I ordered was minimal, a definite plus. It wasn't until I arrived home that I experienced both the highs and lows of Billy Lees. The steamed dumplings had been so over cooked the outer shell wasn't structurally sound enough to hold the innards. And they need to lose the bed of super pungent cabbage. The Mongolian chicken and sesame beef were fabulous. The sweet and sour pork tasted like it was breaded in sawdust. The sweet and sour sauce was fresh from the walk in cooler. The wonton noodle in the soup was the same consistency as the dumplings noodle, watery. The soup itself though has excellent flavor. The fried rice was bland and cooked to an almost chewable plastic consistency. Overall only two things of the bag full I brought home were eaten, enjoyed, and reheated for leftovers. All else was pitched in the refuse bin. Pound for pound, Billy Lees is woefully outmatched by the Cheng family of restaurants in town, and east west just down the street. They would have trouble in competition with even panda express. I wish it were not so as I too had been told how great the food was, and had high hopes.
