I had been looking for a good chicken joint since my recent discovery that I no longer care for KFC, and moved too far away from any Bojangles. I have had Popeyes before, and I'd say it easily beats the other local places around here. It has a bit of a kick if you like or you can be like myself and get the mild recipe. I always get a 2 piece with a side, and maybe I have reviewed a Popeyes location before but don't recall... this one I had not, and it is a nice little spot. The staff were friendly and super fast. The dining area was spotless, and a worker even came out and started cleaning the wall trim to remove any dust after we got our food. I love the sides at Popeyes, because they are so different. When you get mashed potatoes, you get some gravy with a nice kick. The mac and cheese is awesome, as is the corn on the cob and super delicious green beans. Now, my favorite reason for this visit... since I left the south, I have been dying for some SWEET tea, not the garbage that our Ohio establishments try to pawn off as sweet. I'm talking, so sweet, I can feel the cavities popping up after I drink it kind of tea. I took a shot, and hoped for the best. I swear to you, I wanted to start calling everyone sugar and sweetie after saying "isn't that nice?" to everyone who passed by me. If you want some serious SWEET tea, then Popeyes has you covered. They sell it by the gallon too, fyi. YOUR WELCOME.

Chicken tenders dry as sandpaper. Made me pull around to the front for 5 minutes to being my order out, the older manager gentleman comes out and hands me my bag and I saw there was no sauces I asked the drive threw operator twice for. So I asked him to get me my sauces, he made a big deal by huffing like he really didn't want to walk back in to grab the sauces so he said they would be 25c. Never been back.

Bought over $26 worth of food. I wanted six sauces instead of four, they wanted to charge me 25 cents for each extra. I returned the food and walked out with my family. They put the food back into the holding area. We came in during a pouring rain, there was a sale on the outside of the restaurant but not in the inside. We didn't see it. It was a better deal than what I ordered. Guess I'm glad I returned it. They also mopped the floors with water and made the floor extremely slick...greasy slick. They put signs up but we had to walk there to get to the soda machine and the restrooms. It's a pity. I went to a popeye's in NYC--Washington Heights, and was treated far better. Who knew? The Fairfield location sucks.

Popeyes, in my opinion, has the chicken to beat. Flavor isn't optional and doesn't require sauces. I've been at Popeyes stores from Philadelphia to Orlando to Los Angeles. Of course, they vary in how good they are, as with other quick serve restaurants. This store was especially good with friendly staff and clean tables. As I viewed the menu board, I was somewhat confused by the plethora of selections. I normally order chicken strips, but they also have chicken nuggets again after 13 years. I thought the 3 strip combo for $7.09 was a bit expensive, but isn't all chicken expensive since buffalo wings started the meaty chicken craze? The combo gives you the 3 long chicken strips, a side item, a biscuit, and a drink for that hard-earned cash. Strips come in spicy (not since nuggets back around 1997-1998) or mild now and I ordered spicy. Perhaps, they don't get many requests for spicy so they put them in the fryer just for me and told me that it would be about 3 minutes. The wait was worth it. They were hot, tender, and the breading was crunchy but not overwhelmingly huge. The chicken was substantial and moist with a thin layer of the spicy marinade between the chicken and the breading. It didn't need sauce. The dirty rice (Cajun Rice, as they call it) was good without being overly spicy or greasy. I can't comment on the biscuit, as I haven't had it yet. I'll eat it with my third piece of chicken. The combo was too much for me in one sitting. The dining area was clean and I did not see even one table that had not been cleaned. As some people left the store, one of the workers was re-filling the area with the drinks, straws, napkins, and sporks. She tended to the vacated table quite quickly. The only downside I could imagine would be the busy corner location near Fairfield Central and their sports areas and/or the prices. Once again, if not for the buffalo wings craze, the prices probably wouldn't be so high. Wings used to be the poor man's chicken and there wasn't much meat. Since the farmers (pardon the expression) beefed this up, chicken seemed to become more expensive. Of course, inflation and time has changed the prices, also, but it hardly seems possible that a combo meal could start at around $7.00. I love Popeyes Chicken and Biscuits. Forget Chick-Fil-A, KFC, Church's (their cousins), and Zaxby's. You want flavor? You can only get it at one chicken place.

Swung into this little chain after working a football game. Two other officials that I had worked with decided to join me. We weren't looking for anything fancy. Just something quick and tasty so we could refresh and go over the games we had just worked (what we had done well, what we hadn't). I've actually never been in a Popeye's before so this was kind of a bit of a treat. First of all there's really not all that much to choose from. Yes it's a chicken place and the main staple is chicken, but they aren't really all that imaginative in how they serve it. Plus, there aren't a great many sides to choose from. And for what you're getting, it is a bit on the pricey side. When we got there, a cute, old Hispanic lady with a thick accent was working the register. First guy ordered a chicken wrap. She says, "Oh, that's very, very good. Taste real good. But I don't like it." When she asked what side he wanted he said the mashed potatoes with the gravy. She says, "Oh, that's very, very good. Taste real good. But I don't like it." Next guy ordered the wrap with coleslaw. She says, "Oh the coleslaw is very good too. But I don't like it." I decided to go bold and ordered the jambalaya. She says, "Oh, the jambalaya is the best thing we have here.........but I don't like it." It was so asinine it was hysterical. Food wise the jambalaya was pretty tasty, albeit a bit greasy. The biscuit I had with my meal was amazing!! Sweet tea was pretty atrocious though. The inside looked like any other fast food place so no big surprise there. It's a fast food chain. It is what it is. Mahalo, and enjoy.

Best chicken of the choices available in Fairfield, cleanliness depends on location.

First of all, popeyes has the best fried chicken in the country. No exception here. Been to other popeyes and have had to wait 15 to 20 minutes. Never had to wait here. Fast and friendly service.
