My favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. This family owned hole in the wall has an extensive menu with something for everyone. From your traditional burritos and tacos to steak and everything in between...you will not be disappointed. Prices are really reasonable and service is fast. I can't say that I have a favorite. The steak is delicious! They have a full bar which adds to any fiesta! If you are looking for authentic Mexican food with a quaint home-style atmosphere El Riacho will not disappoint!

I tried out El Riacho since Mexican food is my favorite and I work across town. Met a friend for lunch and I ordered the Speedy Gonzales, which is a beef taco, beef enchilada, and rice. They were all awesome! Free chips and salsa with the meal. Salsa was great, but chips were sort of stale-tasting. I'd eat here again.

Other reviews here most have never had real Mexican food. Hard shells were cheap store bought. Taco was bland and over crowded with cheese. The the fish tacos were decent but very average. Beans were big whole and chunky, not authentic. The chips and salsa were the saving grace. Would not recommend.

Lived in Fairborn for three years and had never set foot in here until I went with some coworkers. The prices looked pretty reasonable. I have never had Carne Asada so when I saw a picture of the steak, I jumped at the chance. It was at least 10oz of meat. It was cooked to order. It was only $10. Those three things make it a winner in my book. The beans and rice that came with it were great. It came with white tortillas with the intent that I would cut up my steak and put it in the tortilla, but I didn't. The chips were fresh and made there. The salsa was above-average.

Delicious food! My boyfriend and I went tonight. My boss introduced me to this place. I really LOVE the fried ice cream here. My boyfriend ordered the beef, chicken, shrimp fajita dish. It was fantastic, and he took the rest of it home. We've previously talked to the owner before, and he's a great man. The servers don't look happy to work there...but they are polite and do their job well. But why do they seem so unhappy?! Great food, good service.

The prices have gone up. The Happy Hour has gone to part of the week, even though last summer, it was every day. I used to love this place. We do still go there every so often and the chips and salsa, as well as the margaritas, are still our favorites. So, while its sad it had to change, we still enjoy the food.

Hands down -- best Mexican food in Dayton! My favorite is the Loco Pollo (yum!) but most everything is tasty at El Riachos, especially the chips, salsas and $2 - $4 margaritas. Even our fussy kids enjoy the food. Super family-orientated service. Highly recommend it!

I checked yelp and saw this had four stars and best mex in current area - it is wrong, this is the worst mex food, I could make better and I don't cook! Stay away! Rotten!

This was one of the higher rated places around Wright Patterson AFB for Mexican but it really wasn't anything great. The prices seemed average for the area, not in a great building or good location. The food was kind of unusual for what I've experienced before. For example, I ordered the chimichanga, but what I think I got was a deep fried enchilada. Next time I'm looking for Mexican I think I will try something else.

Actually a pretty decent mexican restaurant. Ordered the Chirizo Pollo dish...came out with a thin slab of chicken breast with crumbled chirizo sausage on top. Only issue was that the chicken was a little dry.

It took me a while to hear/ try this place but it has become a staple for me. Best Mexican food in the area by far.

I grew up in the southwest so I've had my fair share of Mexican food and love it. After moving here I was afraid I'd be stuck with only the 2 chain restaurants near me...until I discovered El Riacho...loved it! Most authentic I've found around here. The menu and restaurant itself are both simple, no frills and none are needed if the food is good and it is! Will be back on a regular basis!

Lunch is a good deal, they have different specials throughout the week. Chips and salsa are better than most around dayton. Service is fast and respectful every time. This place enjoys your business and let's you know it.

I can't believe this place was basically across the street from me and I didn't even know it. I've just drove by and looked right past it a hundred times. Great Mexican food and at decent prices. The servers were good too, they weren't obtrusive but were there when we needed something. The salsa was excellent, just the right amount of spiciness. The food didn't take long to come out and it was all delicious. I will be going back again!

Since moving here, my husband and I have been on the hunt for good, semi-authentic Mexican food in the Dayton area. We came here hoping that our search was finally over. Yet again, we were disappointed. The meal started off well with chips and fresh salsa- yum! The entrees, on the other hand, left something to be desire. My husband's ground beef burrito was basically a better quality version of a Taco Bell burrito. Not impressed. My shrimp fajitas were alright, but nothing spectacular. You can find the same thing at an Abuelo's or any other Mexican chain restaurant. Overall, the food was enjoyable, the service was friendly, and the prices were decent. I wouldn't recommend this place, especially if you're looking for authentic Mexican food- you'll just be disappointed.

We stopped in her on a whim during lunch time. My husband is a chicken chimichanga snob and we are always trying to find a good one. This is place is in what appears to maybe an old bank. The interior is typical of most Mexican places, bright paint and such. The food I do have to say was wonderful! We got the cheese dip, and chimichangas and the chicken was roasted perfect. Usually we find that some of the chicken is dried out and tough, but this was not. Not even a little bit!! I would def say that if your in the area and you want some pretty good Mexican, Give this place a try!

Our favorite Mexican restaurant. We eat there 1-2 times a week. Fast and friendly service, great food. Try the chicken fajitas...delicious! Jose is our favorite waiter, always give a handshake and treats us well.

I would have expected a Mexican restaurant to be a little busier at 5:30 on a Friday night, but this place was completely empty when we walked in to grab a bite to eat. We found the service excellent as our server was attentive, funny and all around entertaining. My husband and I order the steak and chicken fajitas for two and we were a little disappointed when it was presented in front of us. The pieces of meat were more like slivers of meat and there were more peppers and onions than fajita meat. The side plate of rice and beans was pretty minimal as well. There was maybe 3 tablespoons of beans and rice each. The fajita fixings consisted of a mountain of lettuce topped with a tiny dollop of sour cream, another smear of guacamole, no cheese and no tomatoes or salsa. We ordered fried ice cream for dessert which was just OK and nothing to write home about. We found the overall flavor of the food excellent, but we wish the portions were a little more appropriate for the money we paid for the meal. We have definitely had better Mexican restaurant experiences in Dayton and will probably not go out of our way to go to El Riacho anytime in the future.

It's awesome. The salsa is fresh- really fresh- the portions are fine, the staff is friendly, accommodating, and intuitive without being intrusive. The decor is cheesy, but it's festive and fun and the food is good so who cares. We have vegetarians among us who are happy with the menu, we try all sorts of dishes and they change up the menu every now and then to keep things interesting. Price is very reasonable as well.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
