Many dishes danced between 2 and 3 star. Not your regular calamari offering and quite tasty. My peer was blown away by how tender flavorful the strips were. However, boneless wings looked as if trimmed in house but lacked seasoning. Crab cakes "meh" too. Scallops were burnt, Salmon was a hit, tenderloin was dry and unseasoned. However, the staff was very friendly and took care of us, but, several large parties in the dining room I think through the kitchen off. I'd give them a second shot if in the area again but will temper expectations.

Their food continues to impress me and the recent Sunday brunch buffet made me want to give it 5 stars. However, their service continues to disappoint that it continues to be a huge negative in my book. Sunday Brunch buffet - American, Asian, variety of classics. Highlights: made-to-order omelette, prime rib Breakfast classics: bacon, sausage, French toast, pancake Chinese: Chow mein, egg roll Dessert: chocolate strawberries, variety of cakes Service: It is slowly improving but still has some areas for improvement. When an elderly lady slipped and fell, her server continued to take an order at an adjoining table while several patrons ran to assist her.

    J. Liu is definitely worth the drive up to Dublin. This is one of the better restaurants, especially in terms of quality of food, there is in Columbus. Both times I have gone, I have been impressed by the friendliness of the staff and taste of food. Falls right on the line between "I need to dress nice" and "I can wear jeans" lol, but I think I'm okay with that. I never feel out of place there. I really like the Dublin location - and although parking is always a challenge in old dublin - you can't beat being right across the street from Jeni's ice cream. I ordered the salmon last time I went and was very impressed. Perfectly cooked and loved the garnish of wild rice on top. Also, price is pretty reasonable given the quality of food.

We were pretty disappointed. The servers and atmosphere were great, but the food was really sub-par. Perhaps it was because of our large party? My tilapia and potatoes arrived cold and were really lacking in more complex flavors (basically the sauce tasted like a Dijon mustard thrown on top). And the asparagus was slightly overcooked. I could have prepared that meal better myself at home. My husband's pad thai was not even close to what he expected a good pad thai to be like. This was on our "list" of restaurants we needed to experience in Columbus so it was unfortunate. It was very accommodating to a large group, which was nice. But if you are looking for good food for around that price point there are so many other wonderful options (Black Creek Bistro, for one). This was borderline chain restaurant quality.

We had a great meal here last night! I ordered a "French 75" (which isn't on the drink menu, and is my favorite cocktail :) The bartender did an excellent job! ...not many bartenders in Columbus even know what a "French 75" is?! I was thrilled! For my starter, I split a bowl of the "soup special" ~Spicy Chicken Tomatillo! It was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. The flavors were so bright and bold. I also ordered the "fish special" of the night. ~Wasabi Mahi Mahi with a Curry Coconut Rice & side of Veggies. A great fusion of different flavors! ....DELISH! Last, but not least.... Dessert. ......you can't go wrong with a flourless chocolate cake & apple pie a la mode :)

I like the Sunday Brunch very much. Hope there are more kinds of desert... The quality is good. Keeping this point makes it highly competitive.

Very good. A mix of asian and american -- think pad thai and hamburgers. However, both the asian and the american are very tasty. The burger was top notch with some sort of sweet wine reduction that was a perfect match with the pretzel bun. The ambiance was nice for a casual date with my wife. Prices were pretty reasonable.

This is my second visit here. First time I gave it a 3 star, but this time a 4. Food was decent but not impressive in my first visit. This time I ordered pad Thai with beef and it was absolutely delicious. It is somewhat Americanized Thai food but it really was yummy and I would come back again just for this. Overall, service was standard. I enjoyed the ambience though. Seriously, you need to try their pad Thai! Now I am getting hungry writing this review...

I think I'd been here a long time ago, maybe when they'd just opened, or even if it had been another restaurant before. It's been that long. And it's kinda on my way, but there are so many options that I hadn't been back. Finally swung in yesterday. I was worried about parking, but there is some in their lot, and of course the city lot nearby. It's a bit fancier than I expected. Nice place for a business lunch, or a date. Service was excellent. A dark bar atmosphere. A little pricey, but for a fancy place in Dublin, with good food and good portions, not outrageous. I started with lobster bisque. Not the best ever, but pretty darn good: rich and creamy, full of flavor, a decent amount of lobster shreds. Then on to Mongolian Beef. A very classic, in my view, version: tender beef, perfectly cooked, in a flavorful sauce that was not overly salted (a common downfall.) Nicely done onions and green onions. Dried noodles on top. A side of rice; I upgraded to fried, which was decent and had lots of veggies. I left very happy. I'll be back if I'm going that way again.

Nice atmosphere. Sat on the outdoor patio and it was very enjoyable. The staff was very attentive and the menu quite interesting. I ordered the calamari appetizer and it was good. Spicy as advertised. The lobster bisque was also good. Presentation was nice. The sesame chicken was okay. It was flavorful, but the chicken pieces were a bit tough.

I have been here a few times with the girlfriend, and we stopped by on Monday for our anniversary since this is where we went on our first date. The place was half full at 7, sat down right away in a booth. Our waiter was awesome, I don't normally say that at most places, but he was as good of a server that I have ever had before. Started off with the Ceasar- It was huge, could have fed 2 people, and she got a cup of the lobster bisque- it was alright, good taste though. She had the veggie/shrimp pad thai which was very tasty, lots of big shrimp and loaded with veggies- I had the Salmon special with butternut squash Gnocchi- The salmon was cooked at the perfect temp (medium) but the highlight was the Gnocchi- Outstanding!! The best part was after the meal the staff brought us out Champagne and a desert trio- It was not expected, but was the perfect end to a wonderful meal. I guess name dropping Jason (since I play golf with him) worked perfectly! I will be back and cant wait to go again for there Sunday brunch!

Great news -- J. Liu's is back, full force! We used to love J. Liu's back when it was Jason's. But a few years ago, it kinda started to suck. Not sure why. However, I have been here 2 or 3 times in the last 6 months, and it has been PHENOMENAL each time! Apparently, they've changed chefs, and you can totally tell. Everything is cooked or prepared to absolute perfection! I strongly recommend the Crispy Salmon with Forbidden Black Rice, and the Harvest Salad. My husband had the always-good soup du hour, and the insane steak special, which was awesome. Additionally, the wait staff seems more like what you would see in NYC: true professionals. And yet, you feel like you're family after only a couple of visits. Our waiter Andre is AWESOME ( I've had him as a waiter before, so I know -- ask him for literature suggestions), and Michelle was lovely and always on-the-spot with help. I live nearby, so I can't tell you how happy I am that this restaurant is back!

I visited the Worthington location quite awhile ago but hadn't been to the smaller Dublin location. I confess my companion and I ended up here because everything else was closed for Labor Day. The first impression wasn't stellar - it's a nice place, clean and well-maintained, but the decor is very 2003. I'm not going to demand that all restaurants update their interior finishes every 5 years, but they had a puzzling mixture of fabric choices going on. Also, the menus were pretty raggedy. They're single-sheets, and they were pretty torn and stained. That seems like such an easy fix that it makes one wonder why shabby-looking menus are allowed to stay circulating. Anyway, the food was good. I had Mongolian Beef and it was flavorful. The olive oil for bread-dipping was also tasty. I had wine, my friend had a cocktail that we both agreed was too sweet (I'd have used club soda instead of lemon-lime soda in it). The service was pretty...indifferent. You could definitely do worse, but for these prices, you could also do better.

I travel a bit (NYC, Chicago, LA, etc.) for work and have some variety of dining experience and I would and do highly recommend this place to any and all friends visiting from those cities. Food is top notch and a decent variety to choose from. There are some favorites that I have never had better in any city including calamari app and pad Thai. The Sunday brunch is a must try with a wide variety of offerings. I've never had a bad service experience but I do tend to eat in the bar area. The wait staff is always engaging and attentive. The Dublin location is my primary but the Worthington location has a decor that I think I like better.

I was seated within 1 minute and my server arrived with water within 4 minutes despite a very busy Sunday brunch. The selections were fresh and well prepared. The prime rib (aged sirloin) was fantastic. The omelet chef made one of the best inlets I have had. The mushrooms were large and fresh and well prepared. Desserts looked very good, but I resisted.

Don't walk, run away. Went there last night. My wife ordered the special (snapper - cost $35) and it was tough and rubbery to the point a knife could not cut through it. We asked about this and were told that only that it was fresh. The other food was underwhelming and overpriced. Cold creme brûlée that had obviously been sitting in the refrigerator for some time. Even the menu was was quite stained. It is like they weren't even trying. Service was mediocre at best. The drinks are also quite expensive. Will not return.

Meh... For restaurant week I took my hot date out to J. Liu to see about their food. I loved the decor inside, very elegant, but not over the top. Our waitress was amazing, she did very well in taking care of us. From the restaurant week menu I had the lobster bisque soup, chophouse burger, and flourless cake. The soup was not that exciting, nor was the burger. I found the meat to be under-seasoned which dulled all the fun stuff on it. The manager came by and though I didn't want to say it, was able to get out of me what I thought of the burger. He gave me a $10 coupon to come back, good save! The flourless chocolate cake was very rich, I liked it. So not overly impressed by the food, but the regular menu looked very promising. Will give them another shot.

I have always thought the menu at J. Liu was a bit strange. I can get a pasta dish, or I can get a hamburger...or I can get Chinese food. In all of my visits probably my favorite menu item has been the salmon salad. Get the salmon cooked medium and it will not be dry. It features a red wine vinaigrette and has asparagus and Gorgonzola cheese on it. I am a huge fan of Gorgonzola and it makes for a great salad.

I've only been here twice but I cannot wait to go back. My husband comes here a lot w clients because it's such a great place. Everything on the menu is amazing. Service is wonderful. Everyone is accommodating and super friendly. Try have one of my favorite moscatos by the glass. Their fried rice is so yummy. And my friend got the chicken Milanese, holy hell. I can't wait to order than next time. Really, you cant go wrong w anything you order. Based on other reviews, I'm really looking forward to trying the flourless chocolate dome cake! Definitely check this place out!

New manager, new chefs, fantastic food and same great service! We've been coming here since they first opened and even had our wedding rehearsal dinner here years ago. Andre has been our waiter of choice and his personal attention is always amazing. Jake, their new manager is amazing and is committed to keeping this the cherished "local hangout" it's always been for us. Nothing is better than sitting out on their patio, having some great food and watching the scenes of downtown historic Dublin go by.

One of my all time favorites! I have never been disappointed. The place continues to be quite popular as well. They have a daily happy hour from 4 to 7. During this time the noise level can be higher than normal, but they do have seating areas where the noise is better controlled. I have never had to have a table reservation. I have always been able to walk-in and get seated within five minutes. J Liu's always seems pretty busy, too. For dinner, however, I am usually there about 8 'ish. So I am likely missing the prime time dinner crowd. If you are looking to have a special evening, it would be wise to call ahead and make a reservation. Service has always been top notch. The staff have done everything they can to make me feel right at home and been engaging. As I have been there several times, they remember me, which adds to feeling as a valued customer. They are quite helpful in choosing from menu selections and respectfully share their thoughts about menu items. They have been quite adapting to alter menu items to specific tastes. They have been on top of drink orders, clearing dishes and making sure everything goes well. I love the menu items. (I do wish they would bring back the miso salad, however.) The menu offers a variety of Asian, Italian and American Grill items. I have tried many different items. I recently had their pan seared salmon. Heavenly! I highly recommend it, if you like salmon and have not tried it. I have had their Phad Thai in the past - definitely one of the best. Our waitress mentioned they are getting ready to update their menu again. I cannot wait to try some of their new selections!

Staff was amazing. Menu seemed like they were trying too hard - too many types of food - although the combinations were interesting. We tried Mongolian beef, good flavor but too much sauce, and too sweet for our taste - beef was fatty. Also tried the smoked pork chop special - chop was delicious, but potatoes were luke warm and seemed as though they were cooked too many hours before. Great little area - I'm more likely to try something else in the neighborhood.

Was visiting from out of town and my sister-in-law suggested we go here. A good experience with the family. Food and service were both very good. Even the kids liked it. We started with the boneless wings and calamari. Both were awesome and I have had a lot of calamari in my day. I had the Mongolian beef for my entrée and it was good as well, maybe a bit too many scallions. We skipped dessert as we were full. I recommend J. Liu if you live in the Columbus area or are just visiting.

I went here with my boyfriend for the first time on Valentine's Day. We had made reservations for 945 pm, when we arrived they told us that they didn't have the reservations so we must not have done it correctly...the dining room was empty except for one other table. The hostess sat us in the back of the restaurant right next to the bathroom. The server was nice. I ordered the Valentine's Day special which was a filet with lobster and had asked for it medium (pink throughout). My boyfriend ordered the risotto. When we received our food, I cut into my steak and it was RARE. I informed the server when she returned and she had the kitchen make me a new one. By the time I got my new steak my boyfriend was already done with his food. The manager made sure it was cooked to my liking but it was still medium rare. I'm usually not one to send back food or complain, but I had a terrible experience. The service was okay, but we will not be returning.

Food is not consistent. Sometimes its very good, other times not so much. Watch your bill. I've had other patrons drinks show up on my bill that I did not buy and charged twice for some items I only ordered one of. There are better options in Dublin that have better service for sure!

man-o-man, J. Liu really showed us a fantastic dining experience. We stopped here for Restaurant week last night and we found ourselves in for a real treat. I didn't get a real good look of the normal menu, since we knew we were there for Restaurant week, but from my glance it looked pretty full of awesome dishes. Usually when the GF and I go out to try some place new, we do this thing where we pick the two best looking items from the menu and then split them with each other. That way we get a taste of two meals when only paying for one. I ordered: Vegetarian Spring Rolls - came with two different dipping sauces, one that tasted like soy sauce, and the other (which I liked more) tasted like a spicy sweet and sour sauce. The spring rolls in themselves were fantastic, small, flaky, warm and soft on the inside. it was a good choice. Jerk Salmon - Was phenomenal, the salmon was cooked just right with a lovely mango salsa, on a bed of rice. Took my taste buds on a trip that's for sure. Creme Brulee Vanilla Custard - Was the best one I have ever had to this day. It really topped off the dinner, and put me into my food coma. She got: Strawberry Pecan Salad - which was a delightful salad topped with strawberries, sweet & sour dressing, candied pecans and gorgonzola. Was super nommy. The greens were fresh, and the pecans really played a part in the salad. Short Rib - Was a slow braised rib, served over a salad of frise, tortillas, pickled onion, feta cheese and chorizo, tossed in a bacon vinaigrette. lol I still remember her saying, "There's the Bacon!" , The rib was soft and melted apart when cut with a fork. It was really good, but I think the salmon was better. Also got a Creme Brulee. Which we have already been over. I was really impressed with this restaurant and will most likely be back for seconds.

We have been spending the week in Dublin and thanks to the great reviews we found this lovely restaurant. Very cool decor inside plus great atmosphere. We were able to be seated right away on this Wednesday evening. The waitress was very helpful and knowledgeable, answering all of our questions and making helpful suggestions. We had the crab cake appetizer, fresh and fantastic. For our entrees I had the tilapia which was a nice, light summer meal. My husband had the crab and shrimp scampi which was a special that night, served with linguini. Very rich, with fabulous chunks of crab and shrimp. We ended with creme brulee for dessert. This is the kind of restaurant that makes me a little sad, because I really don't understand why we don't have something like this at home. We live out in the DFW suburbs and it's really just chain restaurants for the most part. Very boring. It's always so nice to discover a restaurant like J. Liu and we will be back!

I have been wanting to come here for awhile and while we tried going to the Worthington location which I find way nicer, we ended up here for the mans birthday lunch. He is not a fan of asian or italian food but i am glad he found something to be excited about and really enjoyed. He had the steak and shrimp fried rice combo which was fair at $10 and raved about the quality and amount of the shrimp. We had the potstickers half fried and half steamed as an app since we were starving. I usually prefer them steamed, but these were watery and didn't taste like much at all so fried won. I had the salmon salad with asperagus which was grilled to perfection, it was a nice size portion at $13 fresh and also great quality, I also liked their house sweet and sour dressing though it was a bit thick and a tad too sweet. I would give it 5 stars but it was loud and the atmosphere and service not too inviting. Somehow you just feel compfortable, this isn't a place I would come with friends to hang out. Service was fine just somehow off, we weren't feeling it. The food was great and prices at lunch are acceptable, for a friday lunch it was pretty food with your typical Dublin business lunches, maybe just the wrong crowd for us.

I went last night for some of the famous Pad Thai. Not my first time, but one of the best. I am a fan of both locations - Worthington and Dublin. Last night, despite arriving after 9 pm, the staff was more than happy to seat and serve dinner. The service was prompt, courteous, and even funny. I not only enjoyed the experience, I can't wait to go back again. The prices are not low, but definitely worth it! If you are taking someone on a date, this is a place to impress. If the weather permits, the patio is a bonus.

I took my parents here for lunch on a Saturday. The weather was warm, so we sat on the patio. There was a crowd, but getting a table was no problem on a Saturday early-afternoon. The patio is fine, but as old-Dublin gets better, traffic on Bridge Street increases, which makes the patio seem like it's freeway adjacent. Sidenote: Dublin traffic is kind of a pain. Be careful. And be prepared to get yelled/honked/flipped off The food was good - my salmon club was really terrific. I was amazed that the sandwich held together, but these cooks must have some special skills in sandwich construction that I don't know about. What should have been a slippery mess was delicious and easy to manage. My guests were likewise pleased with their sandwiches, soups and salads. It was all prepared well using what appeared to be relatively fresh ingredients. Nothing too special, but reliably good. If there had been something inventive on the menu, I'd have bumped it up, but it was a pretty safe set of options. As a lunch spot on a weekend, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend J. Liu as an approachable, tasty option.

    J. Liu's is the perfect place to come when you have a mixed group of culinary preferences on your hands. There's something for everyone, choose a classic American dish like bisque or a cesar salad, or go with some Asian flare. This location has a fantastic patio. A little noisy, perhaps. Some kind of partition with the road might go a long way, like some tall shrubbery. Despite this, it's still a great place to share a leisurely weekend lunch in the sun and feel connected to the hustle and bustle of old Dublin. My only complaint is that J. Liu's perhaps plays it a little TOO safe. I'll make the recommendation for picky eaters or only borderline adventurous ones. This is the basics, perfectly prepared, with sprinkled Asian flare.

I was taken here by a business contact and he recommended the calamari and the scallops. The calamari was tremendous and I doubt I will find calamari that tastes this good ever again. The diver scallops with shitake mushroom risotto was very fresh and tasty. I ordered the house salad without looking at the description and was surprised when i received it. It was a meal in itself. I generally pass on dessert, but the chocolate key lime pie was good. The atmosphere was casual with a very nice bar room and excellent service. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone whether business, social or family.

The hubby and I had dinner here this past week and it was phenomenal!! We made reservations at this location for our wedding anniversary. When we arrived, the ladies at the hostess stand greeted us with a smile and showed us to our table. Our waitress was over to our table in a matter of seconds to take our drink orders. She made a few suggestions (that day's specials) and gave us time to look over the menu. I ordered the Sesame Chicken where the hubby ordered the Chicken Milanese. Both plates were very good. We decided to have the cheesecake for dessert. It was very good as well. When the waitress brought our bill, the manager (I believe that is who she was) came over with another bill to tell us that they took the dessert off of our bill given it was our anniversary. What a nice surprise!! We will definitely be back to this location as the food, atmosphere and everyone was phenomenal!!

Went here for lunch with a friend. We were seated quickly and explained the specials. I got the salmon salad and a cup of potato soup. It was a really small cup, for the price I would have liked more than a few spoonfuls but it was delicious. My friend got the fish and chips. The French fries were so good, just amazing. She said the fish itself was good but there was an awful amount of breeding she ended up picking most of it off. Will likely return but prolly only for happy hour.

Food: Mediocre. Certainly not worth the price. They wouldn't be overly priced for a nice restaurant with good food (29 for filet, 15 for a burger), but it just wasn't that good. Environment: Awful, they have tried to cram so many chairs and tables that you can't talk across the table without having to raise your voice, and as it was busy when we went the table on one side had people laughing and cackling away, while there was a child a bit down who was humming and it seemed like they were all in our party they were so close. Service: Admittedly it was busy, so I will preface it with that. My wife and I knew what we wanted to eat before we arrived, they served us drinks, and we had menus to the side, and then it took significantly longer to have them come back for our order.

I've tried this place out twice now. We've decided to take it off our rotation...it's just not that good. They need to pick a cuisine & stick with it...Italian, Asian, & American just don't work well together; rather than doing one really well, they have three that are average. Here's my list of fails for the last two visits. My salmon came with risotto; Chef Ramsay would have screamed obscenities about this rice; it was bad. Two co-workers got steak mid-rare. One came out raw, the other was well done. Should never have gone out. Asparagus side came out shriveled & sad. My other coworker wouldn't finish the scallops...combination of raw and rubbery(how?) Every restaurant is allowed an off night...two is unacceptable. We also had three different Asian dishes and they weren't much better than your local Chinese restaurant, but 3x the price. Finally...the bread & oil that comes out in the beginning...it tastes pretty good, but they should really tell their servers to say it's a secret recipe. When we inquired about it, we were told that it's a combination of herbs and....vegetable oil. The server explained that they use vegetable oil because it "carries the flavor better." Wrong, they use vegetable oil because it's dirt cheap, rather than a good quality olive oil. I mean, really? Don't tell us that. There were some good things. The service is friendly. The salads were decent. But, there are definitely much better options in Dublin.

Best Pad Thai I've had in Ohio. We reserved the backroom for a party and it could not have been a better event. Lots of people ordered the combination Pad Thai, as it was the signature dish.

The menu is too eclectic if you are just a basic healthy food person that needs food that is not filled with salt, cheese, cream based sauces, etc. Just nothing there. Then we finally got them to give us just plain chicken, found some coconut rice on the menu with another meal, and then also some spinach. So we had to build our own meal - not a big deal, most places you do BUT, when it came out the Chicken was a small flat piece like you would put on a sandwich. It was a holiday, so I can allow for few waiters/waitresses, but really the service was slow and non-attentive. So all in all it wasn't even worth one star, but had to do that because of the holiday. Don't expect them to be around long.

I was very confused when I went to this place. Is it an upscale place? Not so upscale? Casual? Sign near the road in front of the restaurant read "NOW OPEN" or something like that which carried the faint smell of desperation.... Menu prices would suggest this is an upper scale type of place. The food suggested a boarder line upper scale type of place. The chopsticks they provided suggested a 4 dollar a meal take out joint. They don't serve their customers plastic utensils, but their chopsticks are the cheapest you can find (they use the same kind in my fave hole in the wall everything served in styro foam chinese joint - and not even straight. The service would suggest a mid scale type of restaruant (chains like applebee's or big boy). We had a dinner party for work and they mixed up our orders consistently. The after dinner coffee suggested a gas station in the middle of nowhere at 4am. Overall the food was ok but when seen in the light of everything else - over priced. Glad I didnt pay!

Came here to meet a friend for dinner; waited at the bar until our table was ready, but unfortunately, he chose the patio. It was super hot that day.. Food was great, service was attentive. Parking sucks - we had to park all the way out in BFE behind the restaurant; not that I mind walking, but on a hot, sticky day, I kind of want to get to places in a hurry. It's located in a great area of Dublin, lots to do and see. The Margarita Flatbread was my favorite appetizer; we had that and the Shanghai potstickers. I had the Pasta Diavolo, which was excellent. Ben had what I think was a special - crab and steak with asparagus and mashed potatoes. For dessert, we chose the key lime pie and the creme brulee. I am not usually a fan of key lime pie, but it was really good, and I am always a sucker for creme brulee. We had a bottle (maybe 2) of the Riesling that our server suggested, but I can't for the life of me think of the name of it. Reservations are accepted, and in my opinion, necessary! This place gets pretty busy by 5:30 PM on any given evening.

Love this place! We have been going to J. Liu for several years now and it is consistently awesome. With both Italian and Asian on the menu, it seems a little odd, but both sides work incredibly well. The bread and oil is great and the lobster bisque is unbeatable. I have ordered almost everything on the menu (and several specials) over the past few years and have never been disappointed. If you can get the duck or the ahi tuna when they are on special, do it. If not, you can't go wrong with the phad thai. Pretty good creme brulee, too. The atmosphere is great in both dining rooms and the bar has plenty of seats and quick service. It can get a little crowded on Fridays and Saturdays, but it's worth the wait (arrive early or late). The service is always great and friendly. We love this place so much, we had our rehearsal dinner here before our wedding last year. There is a small private lot for parking with valet, if that's full there's usually plenty of space behind the restaurant in the public lot. We love to come in the summer to sit on the patio and walk over to Jeni's for ice cream for dessert.

Quite good. However, our appetizers were sub-par. We were asked if we wanted our Pot Stickers steamed or fried, we said half and half. For some reason thinking that meant they would steam -and then- fry them. Instead, we got 3 somewhat crispy potstickers, and 3 very soggy ones. If you aren't really going to steam the Pot Stickers (i.e. you're going to biol them, then you really need to fry them afterwards). But even then, the fried ones were only so-so. And the meatballs were sort of bland... generic marinara sauce with unseasoned balls of meat, topped with an okay slice of cheese and sides of toasty bread. We chose the wrong appetizers. But the main courses made up for it: Fish Tacos, and the Crab Cake Salad. Now, I've never had a good fish taco until now, but I think that they do a great job with these. The fillet's came out browned, served with avocado and other taco goodness. The crab cake was quite good and had some delicious walnuts to go with. The dressing was quite sweet.. maybe a little too thick and sweet for my taste (but alas, I did eat it). All in all quite good. We made the mistake of picking two appetizers that were not, perhaps, a specialty. But we chose some great main courses. And the attentive yet non-intrusive wait staff really made an impression on us as well.

We took out-of-town guests for the Sunday brunch buffet. We are not new to J. Liu and actually like to show it off for our friends who are visiting. The food was great, as usual, and the staff was friendly and efficient, also as usual. We'll be back for more and will definitely bring our friends. It was a great value and great experience.

I give the food four stars and the service three stars. Nothing "bad", about the service, just nothing excellent. Went to J. Liu with my wife and daughter. Flat bread appetizer was very good. My wife and daughter both had the Sesame Chicken. I tasted it and thought it was very good. My wife enjoyed it, but my daughter thought the sauce was too thin (personal preference, not a dig at the kitchen). I had the hamburger and it was excellent. The onion rings were awesome - fresh cut with a light coating and cooked perfectly. The service was decent, but seemed more interested in getting us in and out than making sure we had the best experience possible. The server appeared to be very busy too. Again, not a bad service experience at all, just nothing exceptional. Price was decent - $90 before tip for three people, including drinks for the grown ups.

Great Dublin after work spot, bar with most friendly clientele and servers in the area. Wine list changes often, and always for the best--trust Dave and Larry for advice. Great food. Their second restaurant in Worthington on 23 is very classy and same food, but this is our first choice--quaint, romantic and superior service. 23 is great catering and first choice in area for business meetings.

I have since returned for their happy hour, which is the only way I will likely return in the future. $5 martinis allllllllll night lonnnnnggggggg which were delivered promptly and plenty strong. Also, all the food on the HH menu is $4 and $5. Skip the turd looking and skimpy fried artichokes and definitely get the sliders and mussels. Best sliders/burgers I have ever had in my life cooked to perfect medium/medium rare perfection. The serving of mussels was just the right size. Service, while prompt, failed to provide us with waters (isn't that standard, even if you're siting in the bar area??) and I had to go up to the bar and ask for utensils.

I'll eat just about anything, but the bf is a picky eater (opposites attract, right?) After hearing positive chatter from various sources and viewing the expansive menu, I decided to drag the bf to J. Liu for his birthday. If he couldn't find something he liked on the menu, I knew no one could. Parking was easy. Atmosphere was great. Food was incredible. I settled with a lo mein noodle dish, which turned out to be the best lo mein I've ever had. The bf enjoyed a salmon dinner, and I even mustered up enough courage to try mussels for the first time. Oh, and the complementary bread/olive oil dip was incredible. The service was wonderful, too. Once our sever discovered it was the bf's birthday, he offered a free dessert on the restaurant. Sometimes it's those little touches that can really differentiate a good experience from a great one. It's a little pricey, but J. Liu definitely makes my "Best Columbus Restaurants" list.

Delicious food, good atmosphere. All though the menu has some great items like the margarita flat bread pizza, the Asian items are some of my favorite. They're like PF Chang's better ingredients. They have a nice patio also for spring/summer dining.

My family and I dined here and it was a beautiful day so we sat out on the patio. It was a wonderful experience! Their menu includes Asian, Italian and American cuisine. From past experiences, this normally doesn't work well, but this restaurant pulled it off. We started with the spring roll appetizer and then dined on the Pad Thai, Seafood Pasta, and Jason's Spicy Chicken. Every dish was perfectly cooked and delicious. Even the kid's meals of chicken tenders and mac and cheese received smiles and approvals. The staff was prompt, friendly and courteous. I would definitely return to J. Liu! Kudos to the staff

Consistency is the key word here. Good food and consistently good service. I had been here 3 different times and never been disappointed. I like there spaghetti and meatball. Definitely good food. Lobster bisque is great and wine list is admirable. I am not sure about Asian fare but american and Italian they seem to do a good job.

Upon recommendation, we dined at J Liu and had a great experience. We took an "appetizer" only approach and tried several items off the app menu. The lettuce wraps, pot stickers and margarita pizza are recommended. The spinach and artichoke dip is worthy of the calories. We had great service - both efficient and friendly. And important for me, as the sign of a well-served establishment, our beverage glasses were never empty.

Had high hopes for a holiday meal at J Liu for Christmas Eve. Completely disappointed. The only thing worse than the presentation of the food was the actual food . The food tasted as if it had recently been frozen and lacked flavor. We will never be back, rather we will continue to frequent Tucci's and Oscars.

Quaint, but fun patio - just a little loud b/c of traffic going by. Umbrellas to shield the sun. Wonderful salads, pasta, and unique dishes on top of the traditional stuff. My fav's are the Szechuan, the grilled chicken salad, and the Pad Thai. Super classy and trendy, but not so much that you can't show up with shorts & a t-shirt if you want. Bottom line - really good food. A little unique - not your every day asian fare - but not TOO unique.

My favorite restaurant in Dubin. The menu is a mix of Asian, Italian and steakhouse and all the food is excellent. N

We decided to go to J. Liu after leaving La Scala due to an extreme lack of attention or concern for us. J. Liu's staff were very attentive and accommodating. The food was pretty good too. I had a chicken and andouille sausage risotto and my bf had pad thai. Neither one of us were disappointed in our selections and we plan to visit again soon.

This place was meh at best. If I would have read further in the yelp reviews I probably would have known. Service was ok, not great by any means. My salmon salad was totally devoid of flavor. I do not recommend.

I've never had a bad experience here. The service is good and most of the meals are great. I only had one meal there that I didn't like and it had a lavender orange sauce that just didn't quite work. But I would still go there any day.

Had a great dinner here on Valentine's Day. Service was exceptional and food was quite good. Menu was nicely diverse without being an overbearing catalog like a few restaurants which shall remain nameless here. My wife had dined here before while I hadn't, and she mentioned that she wasn't sure if J Liu was quite certain what they were in terms of food genre. I can't really call it fusion as there were clear examples of various genres, and some understated fusion touches as I recall, but all in all it worked for me since many dishes appealed to me and it was tough to make a final decision on what to order. My wife selected the scallops and risotto which was excellent. I went with the special which was a filet and lobster oscar with mashed potatoes and asparagus; the potatoes were somewhat average but the rest was above average. Good beer and wine options, pretty good prices as well. Finally, we opted out of dessert but our server brought us a couple small plates of chocolate-dipped strawberries, sans chocolate for my wife's plate as she has sworn off for Lent. I'm leaning like 3.5-3.75 starts and give 4 on the all around. Good show all around J Liu.

I have been to J. Liu's twice now, and definitely had good meals both times. As I am on a low carb diet, I didn't have much to do with the rice or pasta that is an integral part of these meals, but I did have a nice wedge salad and some delicious Asian prepared beef. I did "waste" a couple of my day's carbs on the calamari, which was nothing special. I should have kept them for creme brulee or something completely over the top. Oh well, live and learn. The wait staff was very attentive, and had great personality while serving 6 sales people.

I had no review of J. Liu from friends so our party of 4 took on the challenge to wring them out. From the greeting at the front desk and onward, it was a professional and foodie-oriented establishment. The decor was interesting without being distraction. The reception and wait staff were pleasant and very well informed - how many servers know the exact count in each appetizer dish? Ours did. How many chefs make the table rounds not once but twice? Ours did. My colleague has an extensive wine cellar and was pleased to find many of his favorites on their list, as well others he was interested in trying. We ordered a variety of dishes including appetizers, soup, salad, and entrees (including one special). Each was pronounced exquisite. Even the smaller details like the cocktail glassware (the thin-walled truncated conical glasses as well as the wine glasses had beautiful lip feel) and the quality of the coffee were flawless. Highly recommended, and we will certainly be there again . . . and again. .

Visited J Liu in Dublin after church on Sunday a couple weeks ago and the food was really good. We elected to dine outside as it was very nice. Everyone enjoyed their meals and we all elected to eat Chinese. The fried rice was the best that I have had in Columbus (hands down). Very gorgeous inside dining atmosphere and I am sure we will be going here again and again. Quaint atmosphere ... great for a date !

I'm confused by Jason's. I can' t pinpoint one specific thing, which was my problem from the very start. My meal was good. The ambiance is kind of jivey. The service was attentive. But for as good as each of these aspects were, they were as equally lacking. My husband surprised me with a birthday dinner here. I was excited to try it out because we are hard-pressed to find restaurants in town at which neither of us have eaten. Typically, I find Old Dublin to be super quaint and have enjoyed most of my dining experiences in this neighborhood. However, I have been a little stand-offish about going to Jason's simply because of their website. It seems 'all-over-the-place'- which is how I'd describe our experience. I dig the general vibe of the place, with it's nod to art deco and unqiue wall-sized water fountain. It has a slightly artsy feel to it. But then there's no mistaking the Asian theme. I found the mammoth round paper lantern lights in the middle of an otherwise hip dining room to be incredibly distracting and misplaced. The owner is Asian and the menu includes some Asian dishes, but there's no need to drive the point home with the decor. I was left scratching my head with the menu too. It is one thing to be eclectic or truly 'fusian', but there wasn't anything memorable about the combination of items. I didn't find continuity between the different offerings. We got Italian, We got Asian. We got Steaks. We got seafood. And salads. And sandwiches. And Sunday Brunch. WOW. Again, all over the place. I'm a huge advocate of limited menus with a few signature items done well. That's just my personal preference. I can't complain about the quality, because my steak was done perfect and while the demi-glace tasted really strong, it was still good. BUT I didn't think it warranted charging $30. Perhaps that was my problem... Steakhouse prices for bistro-like food. I have no problem paying good money for good food and service and ambiance, but Jason's was lacking the whole way around. The service was forgettable too- except for the wine that was dribbled all over our table by a server who had no clue how to pour wine. Granted, she was in training and most likely nervous because her shadow was hovering over her shoulder the whole time- which even made ME nervous. No excuses. I don't care if it was a slow Monday night (perfect for novice waitstaff). The supervisors should teach new servers how to pour wine properly before allowing patrons to pay for a nice bottle (of which there were many on the winelist!) then making a mess of the table cloth. I find this as unacceptable as laminated menus in a 'fine' restaurant. Overall, I might try Jason's for lunch or (if i'm in the area) grab a cocktail in the cool bar, but I won't be back for dinner... Individually, the menu and the atmosphere were both acceptable, but they didn't seem to match up with one another. We left having no idea what this place was all about. Not a fan.

Everyone in our group of 7 loves this place, but for me it's "fine." Nothing wrong with it except the ridiculously dangerous (slippery) flooring. Nice server, but the dinner took forever to arrive. Eh...

I went to J. Liu's with my husband two nights ago after hearing nothing but great things from friends and colleagues. Given the price-point, I was rather underwhelmed. We ordered the lettuce wrap appetizer. They were okay. You can get better lettuce wraps at Haiku. My husband ordered the pad thai, which was listed as a specialty. Again, it was okay. Nothing special, but probably the best thing that we ordered. I ordered the tilapia, which (along with the mashed potatoes) completely lacked flavor. I couldn't even taste salt or pepper! Over all, the food wasn't horrible, but for the price I would rather go to Bonefish. On the plus side, our waitress was very friendly and the decor was cool. I liked the water feature.

I was in town for 2 days and a colleague joined me for a pretty quick lunch. I'm on a low carb focused diet right now and I found the chicken stir fry [no rice no noodles] to be very tasty and healthy. Very good portion and the pricing was a solid value. Good place to add to my possible spots for my next trip.

The food is not only good, but there is a wide variety. The waite staff is about the most professional I have encountered. I took my family and my parents there for a special occaission and even though my father is very picky and there are others in the group that are more adventurous, everyone found something that they enjoyed.

Just horrible. Ordered lettuce wraps, potstickers, dumplings, and a salmon salad. The chicken in the lettuce wraps was bone dry, the dumplings and potstickers looked store bought and rewarmed. The salmon was a small piece of dried salmon on top of an uninspired wilted bed of greens. I will never go back again.

We usually end up here when I'm in town for work mostly because there are very few places to choose from that are not your typical subpar chain restaurants. I want to like this place more because they have potential. Their drinks are great and the decor is nice, but the food won't wow you. It's decent. I would probably give it a higher rating if they ever decide to offer brown rice as an option. It's about time they offer some healthier choices on the menu.

I have a lot of business meals here. OK value, not world class, but pretty darn good for the area. Good salads, eclectic menu. Better than the comfort food that most independent restaurants and chains in the Dublin area offer.
