Great Asian food. The sushi is fresh and the Chinese dishes are exceptional. I eat there regularly. I love the hot and sour soup.

Sushi is so good, but the service leaves MUCH to be desired. I was there with a group of 8 people and someone asked for another beer, the waitress came back about 6-7 minute later and set the beer at the opposite end of the table and just walked away. For the amount of money my boyfriend and I spent (60 dollars), there are other (and better) places.

I've been here a couple times and the food is just okay. I wasn't impressed with their sushi. I love white tuna sashimi and it didn't taste as fresh as it does at other places. I don't remember the other rolls, but they weren't too memorable. They do have half off rolls Mon-Tues 4-8pm. Besides their sushi, I've tried the dim sum appetizer. It comes with 4 pretty big pieces, but I didn't really like how they tasted. It seems like they were frozen and then warmed up to serve. One thing I did like was their beef chow fun. It was really good, so I might give their non-sushi menu another try next time I'm there.

A large bar, sushi bar and plenty of booths & tables are hiding behind the anodyne strip mall facade of Blue Ginger. Service was friendly, rolls were good, and other specialities like a Vietnamese salad were great. At the very least 3 stars, a-ok for us, we brought 9 people and all enjoyed the food, also the prices are not crazy. Let me digress to tell you about the high tables that are lighted from within/below. So your drink will be, uh, well illuminated. Maybe it's ok if you happen to get lit also lol. Large variety of Japanese macrobrews but nothing on tap. Many sakes and some mixed drinks with sake too. I tried the Blue Ginger margarita, a large glass of aquamarine-blue tequila mix, respectable and fairly priced at $7 but nothing life changing. I really loved the Vietnamese salad, a great mix of jicama, cabbage and ground peanut (unfortunately of the promised mango there was little evidence), a hint of mild spice in the sauce, $7. My teenager truly loved the crispy red snapper, a huge piece of gorgeously fresh fish slathered in a soy-curry sauce that also had a hint of mild spice, not cheap at $20. Vegetarian rating: definitely 3 stars again, they make an effort with veggie versions of their rice-nori rolls; they have hot fried Thai spring rolls, and many of the Asian specialities can be ordered with tofu as the protein. So you should do just great here. Was fairly quiet when we visited, perfect for adult conversation.

Best Kung Pao chicken I have EVER had! Hot but not too hot, perfectly seasoned and super fresh veggies. Very friendly service. I'll be back for sure.

Noooo! We went in on Tuesday, excited for our Monday-Tuesday go-to. We were shocked and disappointed to see their happy hour menu has totally changed! I admit we were spoiled by it, but you're just going to take half price sushi nights away from us like that? With no warning or notice? We came in and, as usual, were seated quickly. We noticed the menu and surveyed the changes: one side didn't appear to be specials at all, just normal priced sushi. The other was large rolls that you could buy and get one half priced. My boyfriend said "oh, did you change the menu?" And the waiter hurriedly said, "yes, do you know what you want to drink?" If I'm honest, the prices are what motivated my previous glowing reviews. The sushi is fine but, with their normal prices, I'd much rather go to Akai Hana. It breaks my heart to say it, but I don't think we'll be back :(

I had sushi here, and it was alright. I got the peanut avocado roll, which was too sweet for me, and a few other rolls that I can't remember because they weren't that great. It was ok, but I don't think I'd go back unless someone really wanted to go. It's also a bit frustrating that their website isn't working? I think there are better Asian places in Columbus. I've never tried the other location called Royal Ginger on Lane though. That might be different, but I have a feeling they'd have similar menus and quality.

  • Kaoru M.

Had takeout sushi from here for lunch today. It wasn't my choice. But anyways, I ordered their tuna/avocado roll, spicy tuna roll, and spicy salmon roll. The tuna/avocado and spicy tuna were fine. The spicy salmon was the fishiest salmon roll I've ever had. It also wasn't spicy. Also baffling is that the sushi came with packets of Chinese soy sauce and not Japanese soy sauce. They are not the same. It's like getting a packet of dijon mustard to go with your chicken nuggets when you were supposed to get honey mustard. Similar, but not the same. It's a good thing I have a stash of Japanese soy sauce, as if I had to eat my sushi with Chinese soy sauce, I would've given them 1 star instead of 2.

I don't give out 5s too often, but I've been back to this place a few times and I always absolutely love everything I get, so I think it's earned a 5 from me =). I was most recently here on my birthday and got the House Special Chow Fun, which was really good. All my friends enjoyed what they had, including my one friend who isn't even really into Chinese food. Well, wasn't until then anyway ;-)

Unfortunately the food quality and preparation has gone way down hill over the past year. The wait staff isn't as attentive or friendly, either. I chose to go to royal ginger in upper Arlington instead.

  • Joey A.

Food was ok. I just didn't like the misleading happy hour or rushed service. The waitress was very pushy and made us feel rushed. We wanted to order a couple rolls and then decide on a couple more. She didn't really want that. Also their happy hour half price rolls deal seemed almost shady. Half price rolls but a 10$ minimum. PER PERSON. That's a lot of rolls, the $10 min was based on the half priced value, and we didn't really want to eat that much sushi. Lol. Ever head of a happy hour with a minimum per person? I haven't.

Used to be fabulous! Now over priced, small portions, beer is not cold... Not going back. When I told the manager , his reply was thank you for your comments. Huh???

    (2)
  • Molly S.

Beautiful atmosphere, very pleasant staff, gorgeous & delicious food. We even misunderstood their closing time, but they did nothing to try to rush us out. My only complaint is that they misunderstood the type of sake I ordered and brought me a hot sake (not my preference). I will absolutely go back and I would recommend it to others.

The Mind Eraser was amazing tuna, salmon, white tuna inside and topped w king crab! Don't over look the vegetarian menu the peanut Avocado roll was to die for! 2 bars for easy access for singles or couples. Would come back for sure. Carry out available.

i came over for dinner tonight and it wasn't nearly as good. The rice was all dried out, to the point where I only ate one roll and left. But not before telling my waiter why. And there was no manager on duty tonight. That could explain part of it. So I stopped at Carfagna's and bought some baloney as a sustitute. ;) Not sure where I'll go next, but it won't be Blue Ginger. Probably Toro or Akai Hana.

This place is fantastic. Great sushi roll presentation, service, and you get fortune cookies with the bill! I've had peanut avocado roll, eel avocado, and tropical roll. Look forward to going again!

  • Lin F.

Really low quality food, much below what I expected from the name of such places. I don't know why people are so obsessed with their sushi rolls. Their food ingredients are like from low end groceries where you wouldn't shop. Really disappointed. I have to give them one star, because there is no negative star options.

I had to update my review. Blue Ginger is simply my favorite go to restaurant. I eat there all the time and have never had a bad meal or my takeout anything other than exactly as ordered. Great food, friendly staff. Always delicious!!

Blue Ginger... the Asian Fusion Bistro that has it all..... ok... well maybe not quite. As someone who seeks local sushi joints in my area, I HAD to give Blue Ginger a try. I have to tell you, I was surprised. Not blown away, but delightfully surprised. 1.) Looks are totally deceiving about this place. The decor is nice dark and gives a great ambiance for date night, but it's not stuffy and I like that. I didn't feel out of place at all, and the hubby and I came parading off the street in just normal weekend go-getter clothes. 2.) The menu is MASSIVE. They cater to multiple Asian cuisines. It's impressive, and I partially wish I would have tried some of their food from the kitchen. Perhaps next time. 3.) Get your drink on here. They have more than just a simple selection of sake... HELL, they have the WHOLE full bar. Service was... meh. It just wasn't personable, but it wasn't blatantly rude. The sushi in the end was just mediocre. Nothing really to rave about and the presentation was blah. I'm wondering why MY sushi order didn't look like the pictures on here. The spicy rolls here are different. I'm think they use a sriracha sauce in theirs instead of the traditional spicy mayo? They were just really intense. Not bad, but not what I expected. If you haven't stopped here in the past few years that the place has been open, then I recommend it. It reminds me of a PF CHANGS in the end, but not as frozen foodish and locally owned. Good for groups, and good for dates. Give it a try.

I just had Sushi Ko the other day and was going to rate it 5 stars...but then I ate here and had to drop their rating to 4 stars. The sashimi here was literally twice the size that Sushi-Ko offered, and it came apart like butter in my mouth...perfect. The sushi pieces I had were big and put together well. In fact it was so good looking I had to take a picture of it before I ate it...uploaded here. I called ahead and the manager said there wouldn't be a wait for six, when I got there a rush of people came in and now there was a wait. With two starving toddlers this wasn't good. The manager went and made us a special table so we didn't have to wait...how's that for service? Anywhere else would have just made us wait a very long time. My wife has some type of garlic shrimp with onions and peppers...it was outstanding. The house green salad is big enough for two to share, ask for extra ginger dressing. The edamame was kinda small for the price, but good nonetheless. So now this is my favorite sushi restaurant in Columbus, and I've had Sushi.com , Sushi-Ko (which this place caused me to rerate), Akai Hana, and some others. Fresh, big, well priced, perfect. And now that they have bought the space where Buybacks used to be, they have way more dining capacity and room for everyone.

Excellent. The vegetarian hot and sour soup they offer is THE BEST I have ever had...The volcano and sawmill road rolls were delicious. I am looking forward to my next meal already. The roll/soup lunch combo is also a great deal.

I am only rating this place one star because I do not have the option to give it zero star. Skip to the ending if you want to know what really compelled me to write a review. I had the sushi boat and pad Thai and both were so so. We ordered the miso soup and this was the worst miso soup I have ever had, which I thought was impossible. It was bland, had cilantro and dried onions, and was not the color of miso. It tasted more like onion soup if anything. Therefore, we pointed this issue out to our server and she took it back with no apology. She took back the food and immediately started speaking out loud in Chinese to another individual within five feet from where we were sitting. Wow, very awkward and rude to make the customer feel like they did something wrong. I'm sorry I cannot eat your bland food, I guess. The rest of the meal she was busy sitting near the bar playing with her hair when our waters were almost always empty. I should have just asked for the pitcher myself and poured our own water. Here is my favorite part of the story: I did not tip her as well as I would have with a satisfactory meal and do you know what she did? I rethink what took place and I can only laugh at this situation. The server ran after us and stopped us in the middle of the road asking why she got tipped so poorly and that I was wrong. I was so baffled that I could only ask if she were serious. She then gave me the merchant receipt and a pen and demanded I change the tip amount. HAHA ARE YOU SERIOUS?! Never have I ever been face with this situation. Regardless of how much a customer tipped, I have never heard of the server running after them and demanding that they get paid more. I will never return to this restaurant again. I heard the management changed for this restaurant and started to go downhill since then. Beware of the female Asian server with messy hair and a tattoo on her hand. If you don't tip her well she will run after you and demand that you change the tip amount!

Can't believe I didn't already review this, as I've been a couple of times. Getting older... Sweetie and I went on a weekday afternoon, and it was pretty empty. Service was friendly but unintrusive. We had sushi, pad Thai, and "Thai casserole." That was new to me, but sounded good on a cold day. It was chicken, tofu, veggies in a curry sauce, in a crock. Very very good. Apparently traditional Thai. The sushi was good; I can't remember which roll we got. The pad Thai was pretty good. I'll be back. It's handy, and has a wide variety of menu items.

I met a group of friends to have some sushi at our favorite sushi place. When my order came, they decorated the plate with a Christmas tree and piled up the sushi in the shape of a tree. It was really cool! I love this place!

The interior is very nice and clean. I always enjoy the ambiance when we eat there. The food is just ok for me. My fiance loves it and is obsessed with their hot and sour soup. Ive mostly eaten their sushi but I have tried a few of the stir-fry type dishes too. My biggest complaint is their tuna rolls and spicy tuna rolls. They use this kind of tuna mash instead of whole pieces of fish. I'm pretty sure the only reason is to stretch the product. Its mushy and gross. I went for lunch and my rolls were pretty stuffed, which normally would be a good thing, these had me gagging on the texture. I'll probably be back since others like it so much but I would prefer to go elsewhere.

Whenever I'm in Dublin, we always make sure to stop in for Blue Ginger's lunch special, which is the perfect amount of food for a great price. The staff is very friendly, and I could eat their hot and sour soup and Philadelphia roll every day.

The waitress was completely rude and basically called me fat. It was really petty. Completely ignored me when ordering and was rude to the others I was with too. Never going back.

The food here is always fresh and the service is always perfect. I've been here 4 times now since I moved to Columbus, and there isn't one thing I'd change about my experience. The sushi is always great and their cooked dishes are just delicious. Cannot say enough good things. Will definitely be back again and again.

  • Randi H.

I absolutely LOVE their half-priced sushi on Monday and Tuesday nights! I like to get a group of friends and order a ton of rolls to split. The sushi is always fresh and the platters look appealing. I've always had delicious sushi from Blue Ginger, so the consistency is great! If they are busy, service can be a little slow, but it's never been a big deal. Throw in some $3 wine, and you have a perfect early week treat!

I'm not much of a sushi person- but this is a great place to get started. Their menu is large and has some non- sushi dishes for those who don't like sushi. Their food is outstanding and they often offer groupon deals so check that out before you go. I find it to be inexpensive for good food- though the specialty rolls will run about $13.00 each. It would be a great place to take a date- though it is very dark inside. Tip: make sure to try their fried ice cream- it's soo good!

  • Carol C.

Love this place because I feel that the food is fresh and they mix flavors quite nicely. Service has always been good, love the ambiance and every entree I've ordered has been SOOOOO good! The prices have definitely gone up, but I feel that they are worth it. We will keep coming back til they prove me wrong LOL

Went to Blue Ginger on a Wednesday at 8 and was surprised how busy it was. The decor was (of course) Asian inspired with super high ceilings, dark wood, stainless steel tables and maroon booths. The place was L shaped. We got seated right away in a back of the house booth, and it took a while for our server, Jenny, to get to us even though many people were seated around us getting waited on. However, the owner/mananger (?) was sure we were taken care of by stopping by to check on us and bring our drinks (he even offered to take our order, but we weren't ready) before Jenny made it over to take our order. The service was OK. At first, of course, I was worried it'd be horrible, but she was actually more efficient than I expected. Bonus! We were attended to adequately for sure! This place has AWESOME specials! M-Th from 5pm-9:30pm half off all regular sushi rolls and sashimi! Who else has a special like that!?!? ALSO, domestic beer bottles are all just $2 and Import bottles are only $3 ALL THE TIME!! I got Sapporo and the boyfriend got his fave Tiger Beer. They also have decent prices on cocktails, like $6 for a Singapore Sling. My boyfriend got the tuna and salmon sashimi, two California rolls, and a tuna roll. He liked all of them and said particularly that the sashimi was excellent. One piece of California roll had a brown spot from exposure on the avocado, but all the rest were bright. Probably a fluke. I ordered veggie rolls including: avocado, peanut avocado, yasai, and sweet potato. All were good, but my favorite was the Yasai (avocado, cucumber, asparagus). The Peanut avocado was really interesting with a sweet peanut candy next to the avocado. The avocado roll was probably my leave favorite, but only because the nori wrapper was the outer most layer instead of the rice. (I'm picky). All were really fresh tasting. All in all everything was great and came out prompt. I would have to say this wasn't my favorite sushi ever, but it was definietly good enough to get again! We left stuffed for $28.00 before tip. It was a great night out for sushi! We'll be back during the week to do this again!

The more I come here, the more I am just OK with the sushi. The initial visit I was wowed, but I had also yet to find something amazing in the Columbus area. The more I come back the less I am wowed and the more I am "ok" with my meal. I have been finding it fairly difficult to finish all of my meal, not because I'm full but because it's not the "stellar" sushi I thought it was. I will keep looking for great sushi, not sure I'll find it here.

Blue Ginger is my new favorite Asian restaurant. My wife and I went there for my birthday dinner, based on a recommendation from a friend. She had a beef spicy dish with green beans. I had chicken with mango. Both were, first and foremost, flavorful. The spicy dish had a goodly number of peppers, but was still flavorful as well as hot. We didn't sample the alcohol, but they have a full bar, including what looks to be a good selection of sakes. I will go back. My wife will go back and take friends, How much more of a recommendation do you need?

Beautiful decor-dark wood, stainless tables in booths, attractive bars, and one of the prettiest bathrooms I've seen (beautiful black granite, modern lighting-just gorgeous, except for the incongruous soap and lotion bottles on the counter, and the open bin of cleaning supplies left in plain sight...). Server was quiet, quick and pleasant. All this talk about decor and service first, though, probably tells you I'm still not totally sure what to say about the food. Somebody in an earlier review complained about caramelized onion and cilantro in the miso; I actually thought they added something to the soup to make it slightly special. As for the sushi, agree with multiple past reviews saying that the menu needs more descriptions of the various rolls. The $8 lunch special (soup and 2 rolls) is a good price, but.... Whenever I get sushi (especially some place I've never been before), I always have my first piece of each roll without any condiments so i can really taste how fresh the fish is. After doing that at Blue Ginger (with a crispy spicy salmon roll and an eel and avocado roll), I doused every other piece in soy sauce and wasabi. This place might be worth another try with multiple people to try a lot more rolls and dishes, but I'm not rushing back. I've had significantly better sushi from (high end) grocery stores in town.

Very nice atmosphere. Great for a date night. Volcano roll and monster roll was excellent. I also had the house combo Pad Thai and I must say it was the best I have ever had. We will definitely be coming back. The service was also excellent but since we were the only two in the place it should be.

Service is hit or miss at this restaurant. However their sushi is half price on Mondays & Tuesday nights! Totally worth it. Truly enjoy the food and their Christmas Rolls are awesome.

I have been wanting to try this place with the idea that I would find a really good Chinese Restaurant that could compete with my mainstays. Not even close as their Chinese food is just bleh. We ordered the Kung Pao Chicken which lacked any flavor. The Chicken just tasted like grilled chicken without any sauce or spice. There were very few peanuts along with lacking any sauce or spice. They have a Chile beside the dish and I didn't taste anything worth a Chile beside its name. It cost around $8.99. The Sushi was the half bright spot. I ordered the Crunchy Spicy Salmon. It lacked crunch or spice. I liked it for being a salmon roll but it wasn't want I expected. The Shrimp Tempura was edible and I would order it again. They just lacked something. We got the lunch special of 2 for $9.99. They gave us stale chocolate fortune cookies. My cookie didn't even have a fortune in it. It just seemed like a place that doesn't focus on quality of their food. I debated between a 1 star or 2 star for this place. I gave it 2 stars because I think this place would be a decent Happy Hour place to get sushi. They also have a really cool interior design. The place looks great with dark woods and soft lighting. I would think this would be a nice date place. I think they spent all their money on decor and forgot about quality food or teaching their chef on Chinese Culinary Arts. I would rather go to a hole in the wall, family owned strip mall Chinese or Sushi bar.

This place doesn't look like much, but WOW the inside was a surprise. The food we tried (volcano roll, kamikaze roll, crispy duck dumplings, and house chow fun) was spot on. It all hit the spot for what we were craving. The drink special of the night - cherry lemonade martini - was super tasty and pretty darn cheap. The decor is nice and not too overdone. Our food all came out super fast - almost too fast, actually. Our waitress seemed a little frazzled as the night went on and the restaurant filled up, but she still managed to get everything right and be exceptionally polite and gracious. Our water glasses were never empty - which is a big deal to us since we drink like the fishes. The long and short of it: If you are interested in trying an Asian restaurant with a little bit of everything on the menu and reasonable prices, check this place out.

Reviewing the lunch specials. Pros: great price for what you get. The food is a little tastier than you would expect from a middling Asian restaurant. And for the first time in Columbus, I had a properly deveined prawn. Woot! Cons: The menu doesn't do a good job at explaining what's actually in the food. I'm still picking little bits of green onion, caramelized onion, pepper, and basil out of my prawns with broccoli (well OK...the basil can stay, I guess). I even had parsley and caramelized onion in my miso soup. WTF? I probably should've asked about the broccoli dish, but who expects to have their miso soup adulterated in such a way? Poppycock.

I recently ate at Blue Ginger when I was in town visiting family. We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday and didn't experience any wait for a table, and there were 6 of us. I had never tried sushi before, so I went ahead and ordered the General Gau (or whatever their equivalent is called) with white rice. The portion was huge and delicious. The chicken was very crispy and spicy without being overwhelming. I wanted wonton soup to go along with it, but the lunch meal only came with miso or whatever it's called. When I asked to substitute (for what is essentially the same soup with LESS in it), they said no. So I had to pay for my soup, full price, without receiving a discount on the lunch meal. Thought that was odd. The soups were the exact same price too... so worst case, they should have charged me an extra dollar for the trouble. My mom also ordered the Gau and liked it. My sister and her friend ordered various pieces of sushi. I tried the shrimp tempura, which I liked, and the eel, which I didn't. But I don't generally like any of the ingredients in sushi, and don't ever eat sushi, so my opinion on the eel shouldn't sway you in any way. But I can't believe people eat this stuff, it was squishy and... ew. Not a bad place for lunch.

Fusion Bistro indeed. Much like most of Ohio's asian food experiences I've had to date, it's a mostly dark wood toned Chinese styled restaurant, but with a variety of asian foods on the menu. For example, one could find stir fried string beans on the menu sitting right next to their selection of sushi - a bit of an odd combo, but it seems to work in Ohio! Although the decor was pleasant enough and the staff was about on par with what you might expect, the food was a bit lacking. With perhaps a few exceptions, most of the stir fried dishes seemed to taste of the same oyster sauce and vegetable oil mixture despite what the menu might imply. Their sushi on the other hand was passable. Once again, I give this place one bonus star just for having a few items that tasted interesting and for having sushi that didn't taste completely frozen / thawed in the middle of Ohio.

A large group (35) of us had a wonderful event because of the hospitable manager (Joe) and the great staff. We were warmly welcomed, the staff friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. Every person raved about the food and presentation. I had the Red Snapper and it was excellent!

My family and I love Blue Ginger. They know us there. We have eaten extensively from the sushi menu and my husband has tried most if not all of the hot dishes. Since Blue Ginger is close to where we live, it is our quick go-to for sushi and Pan Asian and especially a reliable place to take/meet friends. The servers are super kid friendly and the atmosphere is cool and relaxed. The lunch special are a great way to test out the sushi, I noted the half price happy hour is going to be M-Tu starting in December.

So my wife and I went here thinking with a groupon, shame on me for impulse grouponing. We had been meaning to try this place for ages and when the Royal Ginger groupon came up I bought it thinking it was for here. This would turn out to be a bigger mistake than I could've imagined as my review of Royal Ginger will show. The interior of this place is very nice, the decor is very appealing. Prices are somewhat on the high side for some of the entrees when you consider that you can get most of the same dishes at a lot of other nearby places for less and done just as well or better. The bright side is they almost always seem to have some sort of happy hour special that cuts the prices of part of the menu in half. On the night we were there it was buy one get one specialty rolls. The food was a mixed bag. In general it was ok, though my wife's phat thai was terrible (as most phat thai in Columbus seems to be). The specialty sushi rolls were beautifully presented and the fish was good, not great. My only gripe with the sushi was that they are pretty heavy handed with the sauces that they drizzle over your rolls and it takes away from the taste of the ingredients. Service was quick and very friendly. The waitress was very nice and polite when I mistakenly tried to use the Royal Ginger groupon. She also gave us some insight into the relationship between the two restaurants (one out of the three blue ginger owners opened royal ginger on his own essentially with the same menu, they also partner up when ordering some things and buying ads, further adding to the confusion that they're the same owner). As an aside, I'd like to point out that while Blue Ginger is by no means one of the greatest Columbus restaurants; it is however light years ahead of it's cousin Royal Ginger. Despite having nearly matching menus and set ups. Everything about Royal Ginger is done poorly. The contrast of these two restaurants is a perfect example of how bad management can ruin a decent concept. Bottom Line: If you're looking for a break from your usual sushi place or Asian place, Blue Ginger is a pretty good diversion that has some great specials.

We went here tonight with a group of 11 people. The food was really good and everyone tried something different (and we each tried pretty much everything). The General Tso's chicken were HUGE pieces of chicken and it was very crispy, but the brown rice it came with was okay. The mango dish was very good as was the Udon noodles with tofu. One person had the Thai casserole and she really liked it; a couple others had various sushi rolls and were very pleased (one roll had lobster on top and the other was a mixture of 3 different kinds of rolls in Easter colored wraps). Please note: they changed their "happy hour" with the 1/2 off (some) sushi rolls... This deal is only on Mondays and Tuesdays now (it used to be Monday - Thursdays). I asked when they changed it and they said "a long time ago," even though I was there about 3 weeks ago and it was still Monday-Thursday... I mentioned the web site wasn't changed and the response was that it was an old site. The server we had wasn't the friendliest, but she was attentive (there were only 4 tables taken while we were there) and everything came out in a timely manner. I would still go back, but knowing when the happy hour is will be helpful.

I stumbled upon Blue Ginger last night since Kihachi was closed (for unknown reasons). When my friend and I walked in the entire restaurant was full. Soon after we got there several parties came in and it became crowded in the front area. I suppose this is a good sign which convinced us to stay and try the food. There is a huge menu that offered plenty of options from typical General Tso's chicken to a wide variety of sushi specialty rolls. My friend ordered the dim sum dumplings and I started off with the wonton soup. The dumplings were delicious, I'm not a fan of pork or shrimp but I thoroughly enjoyed them. My soup on the other hand was a bit awkward, the broth was that of a miso soup, but the wontons were well prepared. For our meal we ordered the lobster, sweet potato, and the spicy tuna tempura. The lobster roll was delicious and the sweet potato was as I expected. As for the spicy tuna, well lets just say I haven't had a proper tempura roll since I've been in Columbus before this. The exterior of the roll was crisp and the interior remained moist and delicious. I will definitely be going back to try their actual entrees sometime in the near future. This place is great for a date (it is made up mostly of private booths). If you are going with a large group I suggest getting a reservation so you don't have to wait on a Friday or Saturday night.

Amazing selection and service. They remember me every time and know my order! Amazing fried dumplings, best I've ever had! Not exaggerating! I love them. Love the spicy tuna tempura and the Sawmill roll. Prices are comparable.

I've only had their sushi, and I wasn't impressed. Their "special" rolls are not very special or worth the price. The service wasn't that great, either. I was excited to try them because they were convenient, but I've found another spot I enjoy more.

Very overpriced for what you get for entrées. Rather unfriendly service as well. Don't feel as if they want your business. Only reason to go is for Monday and Tuesday happy hour. Half priced hand rolls

Had trouble finding a place to eat on New Years Day, and we were both hankering for sushi so we stopped into blue ginger. The place was surprisingly packed--usually I have something going on NYD, ie going somewhere for sauerkraut/pork and football, but since this fell on a Sunday no one was having bowl game parties. We got some sake, which as usual didn't come out "hot enough" for me, I like my sake to actually be, well, HOT. We sent it back and it came back boiling :-) We decided to share a lot of small plates, here they are and how they tasted: Dumplings: good--these were made in house and came served in a dim sum steamer alongside ginger dipping sauce. Sesame Noodles: fair--I like these cold, these came out warm. They were also buckwheat noodles which were a nice change. Spring Rolls: great--as good as they get. Miso Soup: okay--I've had better, this had a clear broth and I like the miso-ey, milkly broth. They also snuck some CILANTRO into this?? which I HATE. Luckily I was able to pick it out, but I could still taste it a little :-( Sushi: we got a couple of rolls and I can't remember their names but they were both great. All in all this was a great meal. They also have low sodium soy sauce ON THE TABLE which I thought was a big plus. I always hate having to ask for it and then wait for them to bring it out. This place gets it right--other sushi places in town should take note. Also, the sushi was cold--as it should be. I hate it when I get a roll and they make it with warm rice and and warms the fish up. The atmosphere was good here and the service was really good.

Nothing special really. I get better sushi at Akai Hana, better Chinese at Panda Inn or Sun Tong Luck, and better Thai at Bahn Thai, all of which are a close walk or safe bike ride away. The interior decoration is pretty sweet. Lots of good luck reds and dark wood. We started with green tea served in a heavy decorative pot. The food was not bad, my lady and I got fried sweet potato roll and avocado asparagus roll to start. They were tasty, the sweet potato roll was the highlight of the meal. The entrees were alright, seriously nothing mind-blowing. She got tofu with string bean, and I got spicy Hunan tofu with asparagus. They were good, but not worth the drive to the Dublin area. The service was actually pretty awful that night. I prefer servers to not linger and be so attentive that it interrupts the meal or conversation, but I'd like a refill on my water and at least a check to see if we are enjoying our dinner. There was a ten top seated in our section, and it looked like a group project, so we shouldn't have been basically ignored. I had to get up and ask for the check. I shouldn't have to beg to give a restaurant my money. I had a groupon, so if there is another I would return. I wouldn't pay full price again though, not with better places so much closer. The sweet potato roll and decor saved this place from a one star rating. The service level was enough to possibly keep me away even with a groupon.

It was a weekend lunch n a get together for two families. We really liked the ambience. We ordered the chicken fried rice which was really Tasty n flavorful..Liked the avocado sushi but could have been better. Wait time was less...Overall this place is cool

This is great place to for anyone with a craving for Asian food. The staff was very friendly and had a comfortable atmosphere that allows you to relax with a group or one-on-one setting and enjoy the food. Prices are reasonable and worth it given the authenticity of the food.

My fiance and I have been going to Blue Ginger about once every three or four weeks. Every time, we ordered the exact same thing and every time our bill was 17 dollars and some change. This week, however, they handed us a bill for just over $30. Now, the only reason we really loved Blue Ginger was because we could get a filling meal of sushi for well under $20 at half-price happy hour weekdays from 5-9pm. Now our happy hour is apparently gone. The sushi is ok, but I've had WAY better, and it's NOT worth paying $30 for. Also, when they did away with happy hour, they did away with their booths. They had pretty decent, private seating with only booths in the main room, but now they just have a long wall of side-by-side tables. It's much harder to have a conversation when you're surrounded by strangers practically sitting at your table. The last straw for me was the fact that our server really seemed like she wanted us to eat fast and get out even though the place was empty. The second my fiance put his last bite in his mouth, she grabbed his plate away from him. His mouth was still full of food. I don't know if people think it's polite to clear the table as quickly as possible, but we both find it incredibly rude. I was about two-thirds done with my food, and I felt a little awkward having to finish by myself. Sorry, Blue Ginger. You blew it. We'll not be returning.

Friggin' amazing! We usually get sushi at places like this, but we got entrees instead and they were both sooo good! We've only been once though because it's kind of pricey.

I came here the other night for their "house special" half-off all sushi rolls and handrolls. (Note: This does not include their speciality rolls). I ordered the spicy tuna, asparagus and mushroom, rainbow, and eel avocado rolls. Yes, I was hungry! I was a little disappointed by the customer service and the food. My friends and I waited FOREVER for our food...must have been nearly 50 minutes. I think a simple "sorry for the wait" from the waitress would have sufficed. Nope. Didn't happen. Anyhow, back to the food. The rice on the sushi was very mushy. I am not a fan of mushy rice sushi. The quality of the fish did not taste fresh. The spicy tuna was definitely not one of my favorites. It lacks the flavor and kick that I expect from a spicy tuna. The asparagus roll was probably the best roll I had. Overall, the sushi is not terrible, but not good either. On the plus side, the decor of the restaurant is nice and the house special prices were very budget-friendly.

If you're looking for sushi, go somewhere else. But if you want Chinese food, this place will be one of the more decent bistro-type restaurants you'll find. It's not always consistent, but I feel like they shine a litte more than not.

Blue Ginger used to be our favorite restaurant. There was never a wait, the service was fantastic and we always sat in a nice comfy booth where we could have a private conversation. We were THRILLED when they started remodeling because Blue Ginger + a patio would be unbeatable. However, now all the booths in the front portion of the restaurant are gone, they didn't expand the lobby area which on a night as busy as last night proved to be a critical mistake and each time we've been back since the remodel our service has been lackluster at best. The food is still great but I don't know how often we'll be back now. Last night we waited twice as long as the 20 minute quote and once seated, waited at least 10 minutes for a server to even greet us. We had a rude patron behind us, an over cologned patron on the other side and a table full of teenage girls who were left with a gong on their table after their happy birthday serenade (Clearly I am not blaming the restaurant for their patrons rudeness, but leaving the gong on the table with teenagers..what were they thinking?). A terrible experience at what used to be a hidden gem in Dublin. If I was purely rating the food, they'd get 5 stars, no doubt.

A little pricy for sushi... There are better places in town for sushi where you'll get more roll for the same price that's charged here.

I used to be a Haiku fanatic until I came here. Blue Ginger is the best sushi in Columbus. Please take advantage of their happy hour M-Th 5-9pm where most rolls are half off!! I often go with my sister and we eat about 5 rolls each. She loves the sweet potato roll (which personally I'm not a fan) and I love Rainbow roll (esp since its only about 5 bucks!) Great service + great sushi despite being a little bit of a drive from Grandview.

This is in a strip mall next to Mongolian BBQ and you'll drive right past it if you're not looking for it. Upon entering the atmosphere is really cool and very hip modern but yet warm and comfy. This is a great place for a first date or any date for that matter. My favorite appetizer is the lemon cream shrimp......LAWD is this good. All of the rolls I've ever had are really really good as well. Upon discovering this place I took my sister who is not hooked and she got her coworkers hooked as well. The prices are good, the service is equally as good. For those that don't like sushi they do have a pretty big menu and you're sure to find something to eat.

Don't let the outside stop uou from going in! It's nice inside! The service is great. The food is amazing! This is not your usual chinease or sushi place it has a different touch to it. The hot and sour is the best I have ever had! The shrimp tempura roll is to die for. The flavors will keep you craving to come back for more! Love this place!

The food here is good. We ordered Veggie Dumplings, a Tuna Roll and a California Roll. All were really yummy. We also had Sake w/ Plum Wine and I felt the prices were quite reasonable. My only problem with this place was the atmosphere. It just didn't feel very welcoming. It was also a bit out of the way for us. Once we were there, we learned they have another restaurant, Royal Ginger, that is much closer to us. I doubt we will return here but we are looking forward to trying their Upper Arlington location.

After reading the reviews here on Yelp, I dragged my bf here to try the sushi. They've recently discontinued their "Happy Hours" specials, but still have house specials which include 1/2 off sushi rolls. The interior and ambiance are very nice, and they provide warm towelettes before the meal. We ordered a rainbow roll, Columbus roll, Christmas roll, and spicy crunch tuna roll. The latter three had a darker taste, while the rainbow roll was refreshing with crisp cucumber. The waitress was attentive and brought beverage refills quickly. The preparation was a little slow, since there were only two sushi chefs and quite a few people in the restaurant. With the discount, the sushi was about $14 before tip -- not bad at all. We didn't get anything spectacular, but this is a good restaurant if you're feeling a sushi craving and don't want to pay too much.

Great sushi at reasonable prices. It's nice to be able to get a sushi fix without having to spend an arm and a leg. Their lunch combo prices are reasonable and comparable to other sushi restaurants in Columbus. The service is generally quick and it's very easy to get in and out in an hour.

When your five-year-old is silently stuffing sushi down his throat, you know you've found a winner. We've passed by this unassuming storefront for many years and decided to give it a whirl, which ended up quite worthwhile. Five of us (three adults and two children) chose meals from the impressive sushi selection. The remaining diner, 13, chose shrimp lo mein which he declared delicious. Their menu is truly pan-Asian; it's almost bewildering in its scope but just take your time, it's all mouth-watering. But yes, the sushi was the shining star at the Blue Ginger on our visit this time. They have a wide variety of your more traditional sashimi and sushi (including vegetarian), but also a fascinating variety of house "Specialty Rolls". You're not going to find these specials (with names like the Mind Eraser) anywhere else. I highly enjoyed the Blue Ginger, a variation on spicy tuna that includes avocado and spicy mayonnaise, which was recommended by our knowledgeable and friendly server Jenny. Impressions: delicious, well-prepared, well-presented, family-friendly, a little pricey. Will visit again to sample more of the amazing menu.

We got the wanton soup and summer rolls for an appetizer, the followed it with the Christmas, Calamari and Spicy Tuna rolls. The tuna was a little soft for my task, but the calamari was well cooked and the summer rolls had a great refreshing favor with basil and rice noodles. We had a great date and look forward to going back.

I really enjoyed the mixture of good sushi with some alternate choices. I ended up having spicy chicken and a couple pieces of sashimi, both of which were just the right temperature and texture. We went in a large group, which the wait staff handled beautifully, making the experience even better. I will definitely be back.

Good sushi rolls...but the entrees are very americanized...the red curry is not anything like a red curry anywhere else,it was super bland and lacked flavor. The fried rice is better at the cheap chinese places, and that is a sad statement as it is. Overall, cute place, weak on flavor overall.

We went to dinner tonight and we loved the food. We had the chicken satay. The peanut sauce served with the satay was the best in town. We also had the duck dumplings. The description was plums and raisins. The taste was wow. We always order the Wok Glazed Ginger Chicken. It has incredible flavor too. My only criticism is the dishes are a little pricey for Asian. Most of the dinner dishes are available on the lunch menu for less money. I will go back at lunch to explore the menu further. They had recently added another room on and the decor is really nice. All in all this place is a treat.

I was visiting my best friend in Columbus, and we decided to have dinner here for her birthday. It was a quiet weekday night, so it wasn't too busy. I wasn't expecting to be wowed considering I live in New York City and have amazing super-fresh sushi at my disposal (not that I judge- there are always culinary delights in unexpected places). Despite my-being spoiled, the sushi wasn't that bad- it was pretty standard. The waitress was very accommodating to my friend's special requests (extra soy sauce, etc.). I appreciated the laid back atmosphere as it was the perfect setting to catch up with an old friend.

Went here last week for the half price sushi. I got the spicy tuna and eel/avocado rolls. My fiancee had the shrimp tempura and california rolls. Everything was good. The sushi was of decent quality and the service was pretty fast. I'm docking this place a star though, because about 24 hours after eating here I had terrible symptoms of food poisoning. To my knowledge, I didn't eat anything else suspicious nor did I come in contact with anyone that was sick, so I'm pretty sure it was the sushi that did it to me. My fiancee really loved the place, so we'll probably be back ... I'll update this review if we go back. Hopefully I won't be sick again next time.

My wife and I had dinner at Blue Ginger a couple of weeks ago. We noticed immediately that the oriental decor and atmosphere was trendy, yet warm and inviting. I tried the "Blue Ginger Crispy Tilapia" and my wife decided to try an item on the "Today's Specials" board which turned out to be "Duck Fajitas Asian Style." The tilapia turned out to be quite a delightful surprise. The texture was crunchy and the fish was not over-cooked. Although the entire dish was almost completely covered in a red sauce, it wasn't over-powering or too sweet. The Duck Fajitas, was basically a stir-fry of duck meat with a sauce similar to Hoisin with some vegetables served with more Hoisin sauce and crepes (similar to the ones you get with Moo Shu Pork). The stir-fried duck, on the other hand, was overwhelmingly salty. I couldn't imagine that level of saltiness being delicious for any tongue. The batch was obvious not taste tested by the chef. Regarding the wait staff, we had friendly and nice gentleman. I think he said he worked at the other Blue Ginger location in Columbus and was just helping out there for the evening. Overall, this was an OK experience.

Went there on a Friday at 6:00 and got seated right away. Attentive server brought us yummy spring rolls that we ordered to enjoy before our sushi rolls. Eel avocado, sweet potato, and lobster rolls were all delicious. The lobster roll is a piece of fried lobster (tail and all) that was really good. I always get the sweet potato roll, as it is my favorite.

The lemongrass shrimp is the best stuff on the menu. I am a big fan of the volcano and dragon roll. Service has always been quick and friendly, with no issues concering orders, drinks, or wait time. I great place to get your sushi fix!

This place has great sushi, and at a very good price if you go for lunch or for happy hour. For lunch they have 2 rolls for $8 or 3 rolls for $11! You really can't beat that. I like their sushi because it is not very rice heavy; it's actually one of my favorites in Columbus. I am very much a fan and would recommend it to anybody. Note, I've never had any of their other food besides sushi here, so I can't speak for anything else.

I don't know if I didn't like this place because I was feeling under the weather (aka morning sickness) or if the food was really just that lousy (or I just moved here from San Francisco where the Asian food is superb). Eitherway, my husband got the Pad Tai and I got a noodle dish and cucumber rolls. I don't understand where the Asian Fusion part comes in. they basically have traditional Japanese and Thai dishes, it isn't like they have formed the two together to make novel dishes. I thought the sushi was a little pricey for the selection and the noodle dish was tasteless. My husband thought the Pad Thai was okay, a little too spicy for me. Normally I like to get a bento box for a variety, but they didn't have that option for dinner. Overall, I will keep looking elsewhere for good Asain food.

My wife and I went here tonight for Sushi after she had gone with a friend a few weeks ago and we will definitely be back. The staff is very friendly and the Sushi is AWESOME!! We had a Sawmill roll, a spicy tuna roll, and a few others but the Sawmill roll is incredible. I definitely recommend Blue Ginger to anyone who is a fan of good sushi.

Exceptional asian dinning! Great sushi, good sea food, multiple teas to choose from made fresh daily. They have a large menu with diverse groupings to choose. One can choose to eat at the sushi bar, sports bar, or regular dinning room. The only draw back to this establishment is that they do not have a large facility so large parties or twelve or more people will take up a quarter of the general dinning area.

Worst service ever! I am business traveler who eats out 4 to 5 nights a week. I would consider myself a very tolerent diner. This was by far the worst experiene I have had. After waiting for over an hour we asked to speak to the manager who was too busy to talk. After many excuses from all we got up and left.
