Pouring rain at the Delaware Art Fest brought us into this little sandwich shop to let the raIn pass through town. The offerings are soups, salads, sandwiches, as well as coffee drinks. It's a combo Pot Belly with warm sandwiches and Subway where one person takes your order, then passes the meat and bread to the next person to put on the veggies and condiments. I placed a simple order, two sandwiches, two chips and two drinks. My husband's panini was forgotten, tho. Since the person taking the order immediately cuts the bread, puts on the meat and runs it through a conveyor oven, I was surprised she forgot the 2nd sandwich five seconds after taking my order. I just went back for the forgotten sandwich a few minutes later. That aside, the sandwiches were delicious. I had the roast beef and provolone sandwich with lettuce, tomato and mayo on a crusty baguette. It was a good size sandwich with fresh ingredients. The menu had a good variety and the staff friendly. I like the little town homemade food vibe to the place.

Chelley Belly is a great lunch spot for downtown Delaware workers, live-rs (livers?), and play(ers)! They've got daily soup options, toasted subs, delicious salads and more. Daily hot drink specials are great for the winter and the toasted subs and soups are great to help warm you up on a cold day. Desserts are also made in-house and are big portions. Give it a try for a great locally owned lunch place!

Meal (***): I ordered something that didn't seem like a cheese sandwich that ended up being a cheese sandwich. Then I was given a choice to have different bread - but it really wasn't a choice since they only had the non-standard kind. Ambiance (**): The energy was stale. The manager or trainer was super rude to subordinates/trainees. This really put me off. Even little things like passive aggressive notes to customers about not using paper ware to stabilize table legs. Service (**): Meh.

Fresh and great deli sandwiches. The Chelly Belley is the one I always get. Is bun is nice and crusty and soft on the inside bathe meats and cheese are so fresh. And their pecan bars are the bomb.

Good sandwiches. Slightly eclectic combinations. The sandwiches are run though a belt toaster type oven. Friendly staff and what appeared to be a loyal local following. I'm in town for a week and found my lunch spot.

Owned by very nice people. The service is great. The environment is clean and wholesome. Beautiful fire place, adds warmth. You can also opt to sit at a window bar and watch Sandusky street, in beautiful down town Delware. The menu has it's standards. My personal favorite is the "Chelly Belly", it has roast beef and veggies on a sour dough bun. Many bread options and fresh ingridients. I work at a hair salon not far from this place and it is definitly a community standard.

This is definitely one of my favorite sandwich shops around anywhere. The bread is fresh with a good variety from sourdough to baguettes to several other artisan breads. In my opinion, what sets this place apart from the likes of Potbelly is their toppings. I don't really like Potbelly anymore because their toppings are all cut paper thin. Chelly Belly, on the other hand, still gives you normal cut toppings plus a pickle spear on the side. They also have good seasonal selections along with seriously good soups. Their Tomato Bisque is their signature soup and it is incredible. It has tomato chunks with a bit of zing to it. They also have some very tasty homemade sweets as well. The atmosphere is laid back and cozy as well. I would recommend this place anyway over most other sandwich shops out there.

Traveling thru Delaware for work, decided to give it a try for lunch. The ambiance is nice, cute little place. Did the half sandwich and soup. Went with the Tuscany and tomato basil soup. Soup was pretty darn good but slightly peppery for me towards the end but def worth the try. The Tuscany was ok, nothing to rave about. For just under $10, I was expecting a little more for my money. I feel like panera would have been a better option and I hate to say that because I love supporting small biz. I think they should increase the portion size, lower the price a tad or add chips/fruit. Not very busy for 1pm on a tues which seemed odd but school is out and I may have missed the courthouse crowd.

I would recommend getting any sandwich and dipping it in the tomato bisque soup! It's delish :) Also, I was recently contacted by the owner of Chelley Belly and he apologized to me for my bad experience previously. I appreciate him making and effort to make it right &I will be back for some more tomato bisque and hope to try a new sandwich while I'm there. Thank you.

Chelley Belly is great, but it's even better now! Fireplace, all your favorite lattes and espresso drinks! Great sandwiches, soups, salads and fresh baked goods. Awesome!

Off the charts!! Best soup/sandwich joint around!! Had the tomato basil soup and tuna salad on toasted multi-grain ciabatta. Amazing. If you are in the area, check it out. Heck, if you are not in the area, get there...it's worth it. Great oatmeal choc chip cookies too!!

Went here a few times since it is by my parents house. Very good food to get for lunch or if you're looking for a casual and light dinner. I would compare it to a Potbellys or Panera but much more of a homemade taste and very good. The soups are the best and sometimes depending on what they have there that day I take some home with me for later!

I love this place! The prices are a little high but the grilled chicken sandwich is phenomenal! My teenagers like the Italian sandwich, and they usually have some yummy baked items for sale as well! I think of Panera when I eat here just not franchised.

Stopped in for lunch the other day had a great sandwich got the chelly belly and had them add some peppers to the sandwich. It was good it was a decent price the only problem was the chairs were not very comfortable. I would not go in there for coffee unless they were going to add some sofas or something more comfortable. Nice staff.

Since I was starving and in need of a quick lunch while in town for some meetings in Delaware, I pulled up my trusty Yelp app to be pleasantly surprised that there's a great spread of reviews. Given my short timeframe, I walked my famished self down the street to Chelley. There were over a dozen sandwich & panini options ranging from the Smoky (with smoked turkey, bacon and mayo) to more traditional combos like ham and cheese. I opted for the Italian thanks to the kind lady behind the counter who happens to love it the most out of all of the options. Served warm on a circular ciabatta bun with Italian spices baked right in, it really hit the spot. I wasn't wow'd, but for a little over $5, I was satisfied. You can also grab a drink and some chips, if you please; or soup even, which is always great for dipping! I noticed a soup/salad combo option on the menu, too. And if you have kiddos, they offer a kid's menu. Go in for a sandwich, leave with a satisfied smile.

Great sandwiches at a fair price. Good menu options and salads are delicious too. Staff is friendly and quick. Perfect place for lunch. Support local.

Baby it's cold outside- try the tomato basil bisque! I love the 1/2 sandwich and soup combo. I try to change things up a bit but find myself falling back on the hot roast beef with horseradish sauce Fresh food and friendly service, this is my go to place when I want a quick bite in downtown Delaware.

Fresh and yummy. Their soups and sandwiches are definitely not just average. They have lots of great choices too. Wish the portions were a bit bigger, but honestly, they're probably just right!

After a few visits, you kinda get the vibe is: 'Produce enough sandwich, just enough sandwich for the money'. It's an OK place and would like to see "a little more bang for da buck". Baked goods are on the high side money wise. Every so often, the staff has a little drama going on and that reflects on the service - other days are smiles and all is well. Coffee is good here, the coffee drinks are very sweet - not for my taste.

If you find yourself in the baron culinary wasteland that is Delaware, then a visit to Chelley Belly is recommended. Nothing here is that special, they simply make delicious sandwiches. The paninis are all solid, and the roast beef is quite delicious too. My complaints would be the lack of seasoning on most things. I ordered a grilled chicken panini and the chicken was juicy but had nothing on it. It was like gelatinous flavorless nothing, and then it came with just chopped up raw onions. At least give me some caramelization or something. All in all, its decently priced and delivers some good sandwiches. A 3.5 stars in my book.

Many of you know the routine. Dropping kid off at school - need a quick bite that's simple and not too dear on the wallet. How to find? Ask a college kid of course! And so, here we ett. Great main street sandwich joint with kinda the feel of an old soda fountain place. Check out the nice old tin ceiling. Probably ten tables inside with a few more outside for sidewalk sitting on nice days. Short menu of sandwiches and paninis and salads (short menus are good - less to screw up) and priced right at under ten bucks. Service at a very busy lunch hour was very friendly, efficient and fast. Short line moved along and sandwiches came flying out, all tasty and toasty and substantial, so our experience with food was just fine. One simple recommendation for Chelley Belly is to make that "order here" sign a little more visible! (You order in the back, but you'd never know it.) That's a small thing, and easily fixed. Espresso drinks are from an automated machine, and although they're drinkable, I'd go elsewhere for a nice coffee. (I think the Beehive book store has a proper machine, but we haven't sampled theirs yet.) When the place is full, as it was the afternoon we went, it certainly can be a bit loud inside. The ceilings are high and acoustics are too. If the sun is shining, sit outside and enjoy the day. But please don't get us wrong. We like this place. Nice people, nice food at a nice price.

Great local sandwich shop. I went here because of Urbanspoons rating, Yelp has been letting me down lately and the reviews surely don't do it justice. Try the Smoky and the tomato basil soup, skip the cupcake.

Went on a recommendation from a friend and was very pleasantly surprised! THIS IS NOT SUBWAY! It is much BETTER!!! I was very happy with the sandwich I ordered and my husband got soup that was delightful. Pricing was average but worth every penny! We will be back!

Food here is upscale renditions of traditional fare. And it is worth it. The entire menu is under $10. The signature sandwich is pure heaven. The only ding I can give this place is that their sides are over-priced. And not by a little.

This sandwich shop is a great asset to Delaware. All bread is fresh made, and really makes the meal stand out. I recommend the salmon sandwich when it's available, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The tomato bisque is their signature soup, and deservedly so. Don't forget to grab a fresh made pastry on your way out...Yum. Prices are good for the quality and the service is always friendly.

Delaware is in need of a sandwich shop and this Restaurant could fit the bill but the service is very very poor. We dropped in around 11am and ordered an egg sandwich that came with a Biscuit. We asked if we could get the egg sandwich on different bread and they said "NO". So we went with the order and the egg sandwich was dry and seemed like the egg was several hours old :-( Also, we ordered a Pumpkin Latte and asked if it was really sweet... They replied no its great and not too sweet... So we still told them to put half the syrup in the latte and they insisted that it wouldn't taste right. So we went with their advice :-( The Pumpkin Latte was way too sweet so we asked if we could just get a regular Latte and the cashier was so angry with us that she had an attitude with my wife and made us a new Latte in 30secs flat. I have to say the new latte was worse than the Pumpkin Latte. Having said all this we didn't even tell them that the egg sandwich was really dry and tasteless. If I worked at this restaurant I would make sure the customer is 100% satisfied or money back. So the bottom line is that we won't be eating here anymore! Customer Service is everything!
