We love this breakfast place. When back in Centerville, we make it a point to stop in at least once during our stay. This visit was a little bit of a downer. I'm hoping the staff was simply having an off day. Our waitress was not very attune with us. I ordered the apple waffle. It came to the table moderately warm ~ the butter didn't even begin to melt. When I finally got the attention of our waitress, she was more than disturbed when I handed her the plate and ordered something else. I also ordered my usual, Mandarin Crepes. The crepe was actually burnt on the inside and the edges crispy. Sigh. On the upside, the coffee was still delicious!!

Surprisingly not bad for a dive breakfast location. I ordered the pancakes and coffee. The pancakes had good flavor and were a good portion. The side of bacon was a nice highlight and consisted of some nice thick strips. The service was good and the price was right. Don't expect a high end meal, you get what you get out of a strip mall diner.

This place has good pancakes and waffles. There is also a healthier selection of choices, like turkey bacon, fruit and oatmeal. They don't do to go or carry out orders and close around 2 or 3 in the afternoon.

I love Original Pancake House. They have many delicious Pancakes, but the best thing they have is the Dutch Baby and it's sister dish the Big Apple. On the menu it talks about how these things take a long time to make, and that has been true at every Original Pancake House I have been to. Also, they are BIG. You can *PROBABLY* share it with someone else, or at the very least if you order one for just yourself, you'll have plenty leftover for later. If you are in the area and looking for a delicious breakfast experience, I highly recommend Original Pancake House.

This is not a place to go if your in a hurry on a weekend morning .. long wait and slow service. But they serve something I love ... a Dutch Baby .. it's cooked in a cast iron skillet and probably should be enough for two .. but I eat it all. I squeeze lemon on it and sprinkle powdered sugar. it's got fruit in it but it's not got a fruity taste. I'm not a fan of fruit so that is ok. It takes longer to make that so between the wait, service and cooking time we are there for about 2 hours. Thus we don't do it often .. around once a year. regular breakfast food would be faster but I wouldn't wait there for regular breakfast food.

There is only one item anyone should be ordering in this restaurant. The fresh strawberry pancakes. fresh strawberries, fresh home whipped cream (omagah), with a light and somehow rich at the same time red strawberry syrup, paired with the flavor of the pancakes. Theyre not just your average pancake. They have this yeasty flavor that cuts through the sweetness of the syrup and cream. It's a really nice balance. With that and the service (my coffee mug is never dry, they have my heart) alone I would give five stars. Unfortunately I've tried some other menu items and been disappointed. The seafood crepe uses imitation crab (ew ew ew). The dutch baby is nothing to wait 30 minutes for, and they will make you do that because that's how long it takes to cook one. The omelets are average. kind your hum drum omelet menu. western, meat lovers, egg white and spinach, all things we've seen before.

My wife and I ate here with a group of friends for brunch. Food was good (4 out of 5 stars) but the service was mediocre. Our waitress was good but the owner accused the cashier of trying to "give away free food" because our large party's checks were all separated (not our idea BTW). We didn't notice this with other large parties; maybe, to her, we just looked like the type of people who would try to cop a free meal. #NeverComingBack #ProfilingIsRacism

This is the only breakfast place in Dayton that motivates me to wake up early on a Saturday. The pancakes are simply delicious and available in a wide variety of flavors like strawberry, potato, even bacon! I also have to get a large glass of orange juice every time I visit here. Fresh squeezed, it tastes like biting into a fresh sweet orange. Yum! If pancakes aren't your breakfast food of choice, there are other options (omelets, biscuits, sausage, etc) although I can't speak to any of those because I always go for the pancakes! Expect a wait, but it is well worth it. Two thumbs up for The Original Pancake House!

I'm not sure why the wait for omelette is longer than getting a Dutch baby pancake but it is well worth the wait for both. Don't miss the apple Dutch baby but be prepared to share or take some home.

Busy..even late on Monday morning (1130) about a five minute wait to be seated. Very clean bright and open but loud. Server very attentive, clean and polite. Booths are a bit tight and unforgiving if you have some girth. A bit pricey for "pancakes" and "coffee". Order of 49er pancakes and short stack of blueberry took longer than expected to be served. 49er flapjacks good and chewy but size over all is equivalent to 1 plate sized normal pancake and not worth $9. Bottomless coffee close to $3 not much of a deal either. Willing to pay for service, cleanliness and unique food (rarity in restaurant american nowadays) then this place is right for you. Looking for a bargain on food / portions- not so much.

I've been to this location multiple times. The food is always delicious! Always. I give it 3 stars due to the service. It's always hit or miss. On one visit you will have the BEST server...happy, quick, remembers everything you ordered, and keeps your coffee full. Then the next visit the server doesn't come to your table for 15 minutes, forgets that you needed ketchup for your potatoes and brings it after they've gotten cold and doesn't let you order the Dutch Baby because it takes too long and they're busy. Just cross your fingers for the good server, because the service really makes the 30-45 minute wait to get a table worth it. If the service was more consistent I'd be more than happy to rate them with five stars.

My family LOVES "Pancakes House" as we call it. It's pretty much the only breakfast place we frequent on the regular. We are willing to wait the 20-ish minutes for a table because we always have such a great breakfast. The hosts and servers are very friendly and helpful, they are always around to warm up coffee and generally help in any way. About the coffee, I really love their coffee mugs and creamer situation. The mugs are cool and probably hand-made (for sale for $11 EEK!) and the creamer is fresh heavy cream served table-side. I love it! Husband always orders orange juice which is SO FRESH. They don't advertise it, but I'm certain it is pressed in house, as it tastes exactly like what we make it home. It may seem a bit pricey for breakfast, but it works for us. I usually order an omelette, which comes with 3 large pancakes. This is WAY more than enough for me (or anyone, they are legit huge) so I give 2 of my pancakes and some of the eggs to my kid and still have tons of leftovers to take home. Everyone gets plenty to eat and it's about $11 for the entire entree. There is something about the pancakes here which we love. They have a distinct flavor that I can only describe as possibly sour-doughy. Yum! Hubby orders Blintz Crepes which are delicious, but very rich. Still, he always orders them again and again. Last time, he ordered a side of 'house potatoes' which were OK, but I wish they were spicy, or had more flavor. They weren't bad but they didn't stand out to me. Definitely a family favorite, and probably the best breakfast in Dayton.

Ate here for breakfast this morning, SO GOOD!! I couldn't decide on the coconut waffle or chocolate chip. I went with the chocolate chip. It came loaded with whipped cream and chocolate chips. It was to die for. I split the deluxe potatoes with my boyfriend and those were great too! Super crowded when we got there but only had to wait 15 minutes for two of us. However, I do wish that they offered mimosas. Definitely give it a shot!!

This place is the end of your search for the best breakfast in Ohio !! Try the cinammon almond french toast !! You will thank me later !! The bacon is so good it should be illegal !!! Place is clean and tidy. Staff is top notch with fast friendly service.

Awful experience! Ordered my meal, then wanted to add something to my order. I was told "No, we don't do that". I asked to talk with a manager, the owner then told me with a smug demeanor "this is our policy, you cannot add-on to an order". I will never go back. Brunch Club and Golden Nugget are much friendlier with great food!

Well, no one wants to go to the Doctor. But what makes it more tolerable is that it's close to here! And Hubby and I both love eating here (that's not always easy to find a place we agree on) So if either one of us has a early morning appointment we plan on making this a date. Sort of like after bangs Bings (now that goes back a few years!) Portions are large and just stupid good. Yesterday I had an feta, bacon and spinach omelette and potato pancakes. Unlike other pancake houses in town, you don't have to choose between sour cream and applesauce for those...they bring both. Life is good. Everything here is good. But I don't go often or I'd be fat! Portions are huge...I can't eat it all but prices are very reasonable for what you get. Under $20 for two. Unlike other reviewers, our service has always been good. And there's no wait during the week...I wouldn't attempt coming here on the weekends when everyone goes to breakfast, cause I don't enjoy standing in line. It's also extremely clean and handicap accessable. So get your pancakes on!

I was in Ohio for a wedding and the restaurant was within walking distance of our hotel. The day after the wedding we all met up here to eat. The owner, Pete Benjamin, told us that he WOULD not accommodate our party of 12. He told us he would only serve 10 of us. We asked if we could just squeeze the other 2 people in and he said no. He started arguing with us in front of his servers and the other customers. Then he asked two members of our party to leave. So we ALL left. He was rude and argumentative. I have never known an owner to turn away business like that. We had waited over 40 mins to be seated and that was how he treated us. If you have a large group do NOT bother going here. Instead go to First Watch down the street. They were amazing and Friendly and had no problem serving 12 people.

Love this place! We actually live closer to two other Pancake House locations and drive further to this one because that's how much better it is! The owners keep the restaurant immaculate. Not once have we ever found anything dirty. The servers are great and very knowledgeable and they have a very low turn over rate which I think

Live right around the corner and have been going here for 10 years. Not the best because of the wait, but it is close. Asked for the waitress to redeliver stone cold potatoes. She not only brought more, never refilled drinks, never brought ketchup, never brought butter or syrup. I had to get up to get my own condiments. When I told the owner I was not paying for the cold potatoes that were never eaten. He told me I was lying. Wow.....will never spend another cent there again. Love the restaurants in Florida.....not worth this experience in Dayton. Wouldnt want my dog to feel that bad. Shame, shame on the owners. I guess returning customers are not worth one potato. Wow........

This is the second time that I have been here and yep they are still slow to get the food out. The food itself is really good. I like there potato pancakes it seems to be my go to dish. There omelets are ginormous and they take a long time to make. In the end I can deal with the the slow food delivery as long as they put out a great product

HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT!!!!!!! Service is subpar!!!! Stay AWAY FROM CENTERVILLE LOCATION!!!!!!! These are the two most important qualities in a restaurant. They get one star because the food is good. You have been warned!!!!

  • Louis K.

First off let me say that I love original house of pancakes in other locations. Even though there is a wait the one in Wilmette always takes extra special care to seat people together and accommodate. The Dayton / Centerville location is the worst service I have had at any restaurant in my life. I went on my birthday and waited an hour with party to seat together for brunch. We mentioned several times that of we could not seat together we wanted to sit within view of each other. They tried to seat us on separate sides of the restaurant and the owner started yelling at me when I asked to take one table now and the one that was clearing two tables away so we could sit in proximity. He was verbally abusive and not accommodative. No places good is good enough to justify that rudeness to your customers. I will never attempt to eat there again and actively discourage anyone else from going there as well.

Received terrible service today from a waitress. Order came out late and was wrong. After pointing out that the order was wrong I was told she wouldn't charge me the difference, but still didn't receive the correct order. No coffee refills etc,. Advised the lady at checkout whom I assume was a manager. Advised that it would be taken care of, but,was still charged. My account of events was backed up by employees. After asking the lady at checkout her name she wouldn't give it to me. First time I have had a problem here and the last.

I love the food here but it's a tad over priced. And there is always an insane wait no matter what time you go on a Sunday morning. And then you end up feeling rushed. I've also never really had that nice of a server. .. they seemed rushed as well and not overly friendly :/ This was pertaining to the Centerville location. ...

After hearing so much about this place here on Yelp, I finally found it within myself to make the 30 minute drive (I know I know, it's not that far!) across town and try them out myself! Since then we've been back another time, and here is my overall opinion. What I found was a really neat, memorable breakfast served up in a unique atmosphere by outstanding servers. While not the best pancakes texture wise, their taste was pretty awesome. Their pancakes had a chewy quality to them I was not so fond of, rather flat and spongy as opposed to tender and fluffy, and I was a bit put off that they didn't have real maple syrup to put on them after going to such lengths to make them from scratch, but I really appreciate that they use real sourdough starter in them, and their bacon is pretty amazing, and overall, for the price, we were pretty satisfied. Their eggs and potatoes really aren't anything special, and honestly their coffee was very weak for our tastes, but the fresh grapefruit juice was delicious! It is apparent they struggle from time to time to get the food out while it's still hot judging by the cold sausage we were served on the first visit which was quickly replaced with more barely warm sausage, funny stuff, but hey, it was the end of the day and we were understanding with everything else being so great. I also tried the Swedish Pancakes, being that my Grandpa is a Swed and used to make them regularly growing up, which I gladly do for my family now, and while they were edible, I would probably avoid them in the future. I will say though, to their credit, they provided enough of them, which is rare for any breakfast house that serves crepes! Usually they don't give you enough, leaving you hungry for more! I would probably recommend their French style crepes to anyone though. I think those would be a safe bet! Overall, this is one of those places we will save for when we get tired of First Watch and Clifton Mills. Needless to say, we won't be back that often, but we are absolutely thankful that it is here! I highly recommend you try it! If the pancake texture suits you, you will be in heaven my friend!

Bacon you would kill your favorite aunt for. DO try the cherr crepes. DO try the Omelletes. DO try the Dutch baby (HINT: ask for blueberry syrup and pair with the butter, powdered sugar and lemon it comes with, the blue berry is magical. Everything is good. Seems to be a secret in Dayton, in Cinci they wait in line for an hour to get in at both locations. They make their own syrups (liquor in them) mmmm, so good.

Lots of great choices and a friendly staff makes this a place we'll return to if in the area again. The food came out quickly, was delicious, and they kept the coffee comin' so we were happy! I just wish they had eggs benedict on the menu like other locations do!

I love going here with the family for a morning meal, the food is excellent! My personal favorite is the chocolate chip pancakes with a side of their deluxe hash browns. When ordering pancakes be careful in ordering a full order, it is quite large and is often too much food for me to eat at one sitting. Also be warned that it is often quite busy and can have long 30 minute to hour waits. Overall a great restaurant for the whole family.

The restaurant is generally packed every time I've been in. That being said, they crank people through pretty quick. The hostess/owner is rude and nasty to people, but tries to act friendly through her scowl. The food is delicious and my server today was great. It's a little pricey, $4.55 for a side of bacon? I'd go again ! When I got home my house smelled like farts.

If I could give this place 0 stars it would be too many. Just left because the Asian woman at the host desk refused to seat us. We walked in and said we had a party of three and she said we had to wait. We then asked to just be seated at a 2 person table and tell our 3rd person to be seated alone when they arrived. She flat out refused us service, would not seat us, and then told us we had an option to leave. I will never go to this place again !!!!!!!!!

  • Bryson B.

Quite simply, this place is way overrated. Not bad food, but it is very over priced for what you get and not worth the wait or hassle. Pancakes and bacon were over cooked, portions were not that great and the service was slow, lacking any personal touch. Not an overall good experience.

The food is okay. The service is terrible. Part of the reason for going out to eat, rather than cooking at home, is for the service experience. Our waitress took our order then didn't check back with our table for 30 minutes and our food still had not arrived. She didn't even want to make eye contact so we could ask for water. We finally got food from the kitchen but our waitress continued to ignore us and service every other table nearby. I almost wonder if she forgot we were sitting here or couldn't bear to look in our direction. We are a party of 3 and we ordered simple pancakes. I've gotten steak from Fleming's faster than this. And it's not just the speed, the complete lack of interaction is what made this visit beyond horrible. The level of service here is so dismal I wouldn't dare come back to this location. EVER. There are way too many places in this neighborhood that get service right for me to beg this place to try harder.

The food here is great but the service has gotten so bad that I have started getting my own coffee and water refills. This has been an issue 4 straight visits - almost like they are trained to ignore you. Today I went over 15 minutes without a visit from my waitress while I had an empty water glass and coffee cup and was out of syrup. I was doing a test but gave up at that point and got my own coffee. The other wait staff is careful to avoid eye contact so they don't get stuck pouring for a different table. She never did return and I had to leave.

The portions are large. .the food was tasty. .there are a few things to keep in mind. ..#1. You'd better not be in a hurry to eat, the wait time is unbelievable just to get seated..then once you're seated the wait person informed us that the orders are all taken are turned in at the sane time..and.. once you order you can't add anything to it. .AND...no modifications. . So my husband really likes the buckwheat pancakes with blueberries. . But at this place you either order the blueberry pancakes Or buckwheat. .no exceptions.. its like the soup Nazi, you must follow the rules..or No Pancakes for you!

This will most likely be our new "go to spot" for breakfast in the area, we really enjoyed it! The only nit would be that the service was pretty slow, the friend we came with said it was not normally as bad as it was on this particular occasion. Coffee was fantastic! I ordered the Hawaiian pancakes with a side of bacon and couldn't have been happier with the food. I would suggest ordering a half order of pancakes like I did though, I was barely able to eat all of mine! They were stuffed with pineapple, sprinkled with some powdered sugar, and came with some sort of "tropical syrup" that tasted somewhat like orange marmalade, it was awesome! I'll have to say the bacon was probably the best bacon I've ever had, it was super thick and crisp, amazingly good stuff! Other than the slow service, The Original Pancake House gets my vote for the best breakfast around! Check them out!

The first and only Original Pancake House I have ever been to, I had no idea that they even existed and apparently one was pretty close to where I grew up in california. Fast service during the weekday, great coffee, and SUCH GOOD PANCAKES. During a saturday or sunday morning I would attempt to either arrive early or come only if youre not super starved as we had to wait about 55 minutes for a table. =\ like..they were passing out buzzers. I've never encountered that at a breakfast place, but based on how good the food is it TOTALLY makes sense.

Obsessed! Fresh coffee served with real cream, amazing food, kind staff, and elegant atmosphere; simply the best breakfast experience! Every dish I have ordered (bacon pancakes, seafood crepes with mushroom sherry sauce, dutch baby, lox scramble, western omelet) has been exceptional!! Also, I make a point to get a half order (still big, enough for two!) of the deluxe Idaho potatoes, their divine!

A group of colleagues and I are big fans of breakfast food for lunch, so we go here on a somewhat regular basis weekdays at noon. Service is always good - and the food is great! Here's my usual - scrambled egg whites (I think they cook them in butter - hello happy taste buds), two slices of bacon (thick, crispy - kind of like bacon fallen from heaven), home cut potatoes (delicious seasoning - they are not quite cooked enough about every third time or so) and wheat toast (comes with a generous helping of whipped butter). The coffee, while good, is almost two dollars a cup - what? So, in protest of what I feel is too high a price, I get water (free, but smells like eggs - seriously). The pancakes, obviously, are delicious, but put me to sleep in the afternoon, hence the toast. Service is prompt and kind, and we're always in and out within the lunch hour. Can't really say anything bad about this place - I would recommend for breakfast food at whatever time you have the craving for breakfast food!

By far, the best breakfast place in town. Love their omelets. Love their pancakes. Love their patty sausage. Love how clean the place is. Like the service. I do wish they would offer real maple syrup for an upcharge. I'd gladly pay it. They are a little funny about serving...for example, I can't get an order of sausage to hold me over until my apple pancake comes (which takes awhile). That being said, it is exceptional.

OHOP is just about the best breakfast you can get. I'm not talking about "for the money", I'm talking for any price. The portions are generous, the coffee is unbelievably good, and the general quality of all items is WAY above par. I love bacon, and this place has REAL BACON. Not that greasy leather strip that you get at Waffle House. I'm talking big ol' pieces of pig that are cooked to perfection and so thick and juicy you'll forget the rest of your meal... for a short time. Then you'll turn back to the remaining plate of goodness and devour that too. JUST GO TO THE ORIGINAL!

  • Hallie Y.

Terrible management and the servers are understaffed. There isn't anything that sets its food apart from any other breakfast joint. I had an awful experience here with the host mis-managing a complaint from someone in my party that almost resulted in a physical altercation. I won't be coming here again.

There was a 45 min. wait to be seated, it took another 10 minutes to get our drink order, another 20 minutes to order our food (which wasn't even accurate when it finally came), NO refills, and me asking for our bill FOUR times and waiting another 20 - 25 minutes for it. When the waitress finally brought it and I got up to leave without thanking her, she called me snotty. LOUD too. I will never go back here. It's breakfast food and there are a million places that can cook great breakfast food.

I miss IHOP something fierce since moving back to Dayton, but this is probably the closest you're going to get to it (aside from the Golden Nugget or First Watch) around here. If I have to choose between TOPH to those other two establishments, I'd probably go for one of the other two. That's not to say that the food isn't tasty. It's all fresh and made to order. Even the orange juice is squeezed fresh. But you also pay over $4 for that privilege. I love orange juice, but I could squeeze my own at home for far less than that. And that's really what it all boils down to. The cost. Certainly, they pile on the food like it's all going bad the next day and they have to get rid of it. Six egg omelets, for one. My kids had crepes that were ginormous. It was all tasty, but I would pay half the price for half the food. I'm not a cheapskate, but I just don't like spending $60 for my family of four to go out to breakfast, unless we're talking major gourmet food, but that's just me. Definitely go if price is not an object, but if you're looking for excellent quality on a more friendly budget, the Golden Nugget or First Watch just might be your ticket. Just go before 9am on the weekends if you don't want to wait.

I took my nephews (16yrs will try anything and 18yr old hates anything that isn't a chicken nugget or white bun) here for breakfast on our way home from visiting the Mammoth Caves in KY. The two teens couldn't be any different when it comes to eating out with them. One loves to try any and all types of new foods, the other can drive me up a wall as I will spend money on buffets where he will only eat a white bun and MAYBE one piece of pizza. Jesse just turned 18 so I thought it might be safe to take him to a restaurant other than Burger King where he likes their chicken nuggets (SIGH!). His pallet had expanded to include French Toast and Mozzarella sticks (sigh again). The night before we had dinner at The Cheesecake Factory in Louisville, KY where Jesse ordered mozzarella sticks and chicken nuggets. My other nephew, Ethan, and I pigged out on as many Cheesecake Factory menu items that my budget will allow (spent $100.00 there). Since this trip was geared towards being a special one for Jesse, in the morning I asked him where he would like to eat for breakfast. He wanted to go to I-Hop but there weren't any I-Hop's in the area, the hotel desk manager said that there was the Pancake House right across the street. BINGO! I frequent the Pancake Houses near my home, there are two on Van Dyke and one on Woodward Avenue. I told the boys that I knew they would love the Dutch Baby so I ordered 3 of them, one for each of us. I asked for fresh strawberries to go with Ethan's since he loves strawberries and to appease Jesse I ordered French Toast as a back-up plan. I told Jesse that I wanted him to try the Dutch Baby and if he didn't like it I would take it home to eat latter and he could have his French Toast, to my surprise he thought this was a good idea. We waited close to 45 minutes, which turned out to be an eternity for the teens BUT when the Dutch Babies finally arrived they were thrilled. Thrilled to finally have food served to them and thrilled that the Dutch Babies were incredibly delicious. I also ordered fresh-squeezed orange juice and a large side order of bacon. I felt victorious as Jesse had 3 slices of bacon and ate every morsel of his Dutch Baby and never touched his French Toast (he didn't have the room). Ethan, ever the perfect menu candidate, also ate every bit of his Dutch Baby. Of course I devoured mine as well. Bring newspapers, talk to others at the table, do what you need to do to pass the time because these Dutch Babies are cooked to perfection and worth the wait. My only complaint is that the waitress delivered the Dutch Babies and THEN went to get the side items such as syrup, powdered sugar, etc... She should have delivered these in advance of us receiving the Dutch Baby as the she took a long time and our Dutch Baby was cooling down...not to mention we were totally ready to eat after the wait. The best Dutch Baby I have ever had! The cooks here did it right. I've had many Dutch Baby's at other Pancake House restaurants but this Dutch Baby, oh baby, baby was sheer perfection! Served hot with a generous side selection of syrup, powdered sugar, lemons and butter. The Dutch Baby was puffed up high, cooked so that it was sweet, pulled apart easily and had just the right combination or airiness and crispness.

My family and I went here on a recommendation. Unfortunately, this turned into a dining* experience that I will never forget. The wait wasn't bad. For brunch time, 20 minutes on a Sunday is not at all bad. The waitress was great, giving suggestions without being 'in your face' as I've had servers do before. Where this visit fell apart, though, was while we were waiting on our food. After 50 minutes and seeing several parties of people that had been sat after us getting their food I started to get frustrated. I decided to speak to management. The manager (turns out the owner) instantly came up with excuses and sarcasm about my expectations being too high for the speed of the food. "A lot of people wait an hour or more here and are perfectly happy", he said. When I explained that my pregnant fiancée and daughter are both hungry, and just wanted to be served somewhat in order of when we were sat, his response was a heartless, "So?". I told him I wouldn't pay to eat food and support a business like his, all he could ask is what they were supposed to do with the wasted food. I paid for the drinks we ordered and left, almost happy that he asked me to never come back again. That man may run a business well in terms of finances but knows nothing about actual service or the proper treatment of people.

I love this place... their potato pancakes are... yummy! That said... coming here is a treat. It's pricey, there is usually a significant wait, and then it takes a long time to get your food. If you know me from my reviews, you'll also know that friendly service is important to me. I don't find this place to be particularly warm and fuzzy. Nice enough, but brisk... and management is downright cool. Other reviews have indicated that it's pricey and way too much for every day breakfast. I concur, and only come here when a treat is warranted!

My Mom was telling me how great this place was, so we went there for breakfast before I had to head back to school. I'll have to be honest, I was fairly disappointed. I got the traditional breakfast which included eggs, bacon, potatoes, and pancakes. The eggs and bacon tasted like eggs and bacon, and the same can be said about the potatoes. Since this place is all about the pancakes, that's what disappointed me the most. They really didn't have a flavor unlike the ordinary. If you read my review about Holly's, you understand how those pancakes were very unique. These weren't. Light and fluffy? yes, but microwavable pancakes may have on upped these. I feel my homemade Bisquick pancakes had more flavor. Something else I found surprising was the amount of syrup they offer. They give you a tiny portion and charge extra if you ask for more. One of the tiny servings isn't nearly enough to cover the cakes. We were able to get in without a wait (Monday mid-morning), however, my Mom informed me that there is usually always a wait, so you may want to prepare for that. The service is pretty good as well. It wasn't exceptional, but I felt like we were taken care of. I wouldn't discourage you from trying this, however, personally, I was kind of upset. I will be taking my business to Golden Nugget or Holly's when I am seeking to fulfill my pancake fix.

Management and service is poor. Food is good. This restaurant closes at 2pm. We arrived at 1:30. We asked at the door if we were too late. We were told it was fine. We asked if we needed to be finished by two. We were told no, it was fine. We sit down and order our drinks and after they arrive they tell us that because they are closing soon they can't serve anything that takes too long including their three signature items. We were not told this when we asked at the door. If they had told us we would have come back another time. They also turned off half the lights while we were at our table. Save your money for Golden Nugget.

In the five years we've lived in Dayton, we've visited TOPH a number of times for weekend brunch. The service and food have always been above average. My usual go to orders have been the vegetable omelet or the lox and onion scramble. This year, I started eating vegetarian and then vegan, so last weekend was our first visit since I'd changed my diet. I asked the server what on the menu was vegan and she said, "well, the fruit bowl." I was disappointed, but my husband (not a vegan) was even more disappointed, probably because he knows I won't be interested in going back again. This is a nice brunch spot for vegetarians and omnivores, but not for those eating vegan, which is what my rating reflects.

We were actually looking for IHOP but ended up coming here and good thing we did. Their pancake was as good as IHOP's and everything else they had was decent. I would definitely go again

Great place for breakfast. There is a wait to get the food. It well worth it. Everything is made fresh and to order. Recommend it to anyone that loves breakfast.
