Love this sashimi, rolls, kimchi pancakes, tempura and the service is amazing! Mrs. Kim is the best. Been coming here for years when I am visiting and its my kids favorite spot.

I love this place!! The Poseidon Roll is AMAZING! If you like Sushi, then you have to check this place out!

If I could sima more than 5 stars I wouldn't hesitate. Not only is the food AMAZING, the owner and waitstaff are so personable and friendly. I have dined here for about 5 years and I always feel welcome each time I visit. The half off sushi on Wednesday nights is a great deal - the playboy roll is excellent. Their Korean dishes (bibimbap, bulgolgi & kimchi are the few I have had) have incredible flavor and a great portion. If you have never visited sima before you have to make the trip! I look forward to my next visit!

My boyfriend and I dine here all the time. The staff is always super friendly to us and the wait is always short. We go there so often the owner knows what we're going to order (creatures of habit). The half price sushi on Wednesdays is a great deal. If you're hungry enough during lunch for the all you can eat sushi bar, that's also a great deal. They have a ton of different rolls that you can choose from, plus you can tell it's fresh. The salad bar and all the veggies are super fresh and appetizing. If you go on a day when a deal isn't happening, it can be pricey. But be a smart consumer and take advantage of deals and half off days. Don't order 4-8 different rolls and be shocked at the price.

I think this place is decent, but a bit overpriced. I do like the staff here. This seems to be a very welcoming place! My boyfriend and I ordered a Bulgogi dinner (18.99), an avocado roll, a TNT roll, and a crazy California roll. While the Bulgogi and panchan was good... I think the TNT was lacking. I have worked at a sushi bar that had this exact same roll. I feel as if this roll was soaked in oil. I understand it's a deep fried roll, but I've had plenty of sushi, including the deep fried variety. This roll could be better with a little more effort. The mochi was terrible. I am very sorry for saying that, but it was either stored incorrectly, at the wrong temperature, or for too long. The outside had a strange wax-like consistency, which I assume is from drying out in the freezer. The total bill was about $70 (before tip.) While that's just a bit above average for a sushi restaurant, the quality of the food did not match the price. However, we thought our waitress was very friendly, bright and cheerful! All of the staff, matter of fact, seemed very welcoming. For this reason, I do want to come back and try other menu items.

I've been here multiple times, and I either love it or hate it. The servers are very very kind and attentive on most visits... Though there have been a few where they couldn't seem to care less, and forget parts of my order. Sima's food is alright: their sushi is the best part. It also makes me upset how their menu is constantly shrinking, it seems. Their Korean menu is great, their Japanese one.... Not so much.

It is pricy. The food is okay. Side dishes are good. The service is super. They gave us free red bean ice cream. Highly recommended l

A fantastic dining experience. Friendly, professional service staff and a clean, cosy atmosphere. I had the crunchy shrimp roll and an order of smoked salmon sashimi with a serving of green tea ice cream for dessert. Food came out fast and was delicious. Will be coming back to Sima very soon.

I had heard good things about this place, and was really looking forward to going here for a friend's birthday. When we arrived on a friday night the place was nearly empty, and by the end of the meal we would know why. My wife and i ordered four rolls; all of them were subpar. Each roll was drenched in sauce to the point there were puddles of sauce on the plates. The fish within the rolls was not good either, which may explain why they used so much sauce. I would tolerate the mediocre rolls if the prices were reasonable, but all of the rolls were very overpriced. The servers were very attentive, and entertaining so i will give sima two stars. Unfortunately the friendly staff is not enough to overcome the lousy food.

The dol sot bibimbap was perfect. The textures blended just right. Fast service and no wait on a Friday night. Could have enjoyed more authentic music though :) other than that awesome experience.

Much to the delight of my former military man, Sima has many of the traditional Korean dishes he loves from when he was stationed there. Mrs. Kim was so sweet and wonderful, especially to my young dining companion. Can't wait to come back and try the tableside grill!

I'm a fan of any place that goes the extra mile to not just accommodate, but cater to vegetarians. Not too many veg options on the menu, but our delightful waitress and the hostess both took time to explain that they could 'vegetarianize' some korean dishes for me. I like that. And I told them that. I was happy on the Korean side of the menu - got bibimbap vegetarianized with tofu. A little lean on the vegetables, but the spicy-sweet sauce on the side, peppery pickled eggplant and carrot, and zingy kim chi made up for that, and added a lovely flavor note or two. Maybe I shouldn't expect LA spice in Dayton OH? Note to chef - some like it hot =) Portion size big enough for a moderate dinner and lunch the next day. The youngun stayed on the Japanese side of the menu - got his favorite miso soup, veggie tempura and cucumber roll. He's a happy camper with some pickled ginger. Parking is easy. Ambience is laid back. It was a quiet weekday evening. Overall, I liked it, I'll be back. One small request - would it be possible to get a 'single serving' of soju please?

I got there a little earlier than my friend so I ordered a drink. I didn't realize that was going to be the only drink I was offered the entire 2 hours I was there. Eventually I had to stop the waitress from doing her, "Everything Okay" and running away bit to get her to bring me another drink. They have half priced sushi on Tuesdays and Wednesday in case you didn't know seeing as the waitress didn't bother to bring the menu to me initially. I had no idea they offered that. Thankfully my friend did. The sushi was good, but a little more expensive than other places I have gone. If you are in the area, I would recommend this place for you, but don't expect the wait staff to notice your empty glass or offer anything above the basic stuff so be prepared to always have to catch them to get something. Overall the experience was decent. I wouldn't go back out there again because it is kind of out of my way and the prices are a little bit more than I typically pay at places that don't offer half priced sushi. Also, if you didn't get my main message, the wait staffed seemed to not really care about my experience. Only cared about getting my order in and getting me my check to make me leave.

Friendly service. The quality of the food does not match the pricing.

Mediocre at best. The restaurant is nice, plenty of seating but a tad cold for my taste. We ordered 3 different sushi rolls, soup, 2 salads & tempura. Though the service itself was great the food wasn't worth the $50 price tag. There are several other restaurants in the area that are very similar that serve tastier treats. I can't say I won't ever go back but it won't be my first pick when dinning out.

"Wow! What is this place? Have I finally found a decent sushi place in Dayton?" Nope. I will say that I would be the first person to carelessly throw my money at a good sushi restaurant in Dayton. But sadly I haven't found that place yet. And now is when I remember that I am in the Midwest. Midwest + Good sushi = Probably not. The prices here are a tad steep, which I wouldn't mind if the food was good. I'm not saying it was terrible, but it was far from great. If you are reading this, and wanting some sushi, then I will tell you that Sima is more on the Korean side of the Japanese/Korean Fusion spectrum. Which brings me to my next point, they don't have a good selection of Soju, and our Korean waitress had never heard of yogurt Soju. I thought that was odd. But you came here to eat right? Not drink, so onto the food. As a starter I ordered Agedashi tofu. I love the stuff. And as far as Agedashi tofu goes, Sima you get a solid "A-" from me. And then I ordered the playboy roll. Nothing to write home about. It was kind of bland, but not to bad. I wanted to try some of the nigiri style sushi, but I was told the price was for one piece, and not two, as per the usual when it comes to nigiri. Oh well never mind then. As far as service, it was alright, basic, which is fine with me. I guess that also goes for this restaurant overall, it was alright and basic. 2 stars.

This is probably the best korean place in dayton. However, the price is still a little high. But if you want a good quality korean place in dayton, definitely stop by here! They also serve sushi and it's pretty fantastic. The only thing to beware of is the price.

This has been the best restaurant experience I've had for years. I wasn't sure what to expect when I drove into the parking lot. The restaurant is not exactly anywhere I would expect it to be. There was a DIY car wash behind it that I could see from the parking lot. As I entered, I saw many Korean language flyers posted on the walls. That gave me a clue that they probably have good Korean food, plus the fact that the suggestion to eat at this place came from the owner of Pleasing Market. After all the mis-steps and fake Asian places, I never know what to expect. As I entered, I was met with friendly, lively people. Tell me that isn't a 180 degree difference from Jeet India. The person seating me asked my opinion of where I'd like to sit and I ended up toward the front, in view of the o-sushi bar. I was surprised to see a small library sitting on the table with a pencil. O-sushi, sashimi, and dinner menu--that seems a lot, like a small library. My first impression of the menus was that prices were high. The sashimi sampler was $12.95. It's probably a very reasonable price, but I wasn't ready. I ordered iced tea and soon dubu jjigae, which surprises the waiters and waitresses usually. The iced tea was cold and it wasn't sweetened. Yay! It didn't seem busy but the food took a while. When it arrived, I was surprised to see a small pot, 4 side dishes, plus rice, of course. Most places, I get a big pot and 6 side dishes, so it made me wonder. We had a little conversation about picking up the rice bowl and how it was bad manners in Korean restaurants (and homes), and how my friends would give me "the look" when I would pick it up to eat Japanese style. So, I started eating and more than that, I started smiling for the first time in months. It was good! This wasn't just some Yijo pouch that they opened and heated. The tofu makes a lot of difference (Yijo uses firmer tofu) but this had a lot more seafood than you'll ever see in a pouch, or most restaurants. The last restaurant to make this dish for me added 1 or 2 shrimp, along with the spices, tofu, and maybe a bit of scallion, but forgot the taste. This jjigae had taste! Oh emm gee, that's better than big food. The wait staff was attentive and got me tea 3 times, but didn't interrupt me while I was eating heartily. They were probably stunned to see someone enjoy it so much. It felt like being able to move after being paralysed, and I know how that feels. So, it was 75 % good food and 25 % good people, and that equals 100 % satisfaction, something rare for me.

Not the best sushi I've found in Dayton but still decent so I've been a few times. Prices aren't too outrageous but my biggest gripe would be the lack of rolls put out during their all you can eat lunch buffet. If there's not a lot of people when you go, expect little to no rolls put out and no rush to put any more out. Don't like what you see that's out and no time to sit around until they finally do re-stock? You're out of luck. Not sure if I'll be back, but if I do it certainly won't be lunch time.

Went for the sushi lunch buffet, by no means am I anything near a sushi connoisseur but there were a nice variety of items on the buffet. Not only did they have sushi but they had salad, soup, and your typical Japanese & Korean hibachi grill items. Service was friendly. My only problem were no labels on the buffet do if you're like me and not very knowledgeable on sushi you couldn't tell what was what. Definitely will go again!

First time here I don't like this type of food The waiter told me about something i may like it but i didn't He tried to see if i may like somethigbnelse but i didn't He gave me a disscoint but still i think the price is high If u don't like asian food don't try it and let ur friends eat and go to somewhere else ... Thabks anyway for the service was good and he was polite and friendly

Bulgogi was good. This felt like a Korean, family-owned restaurant. I liked the feel of the interior but the exterior should be renovated and they should re-think some of their dishes.

  • Cobra K.

I ordered galbi tang for 16 bucks. It was good, but way too expensive. I don't think I've spend that much on soup before ever in a Korean/Japanese restaurant. The owner chick is some Pathologist...she told me she was a doctor about 3 times and told me that the food that she makes is good for me...because she's a doctor of pathology she told me...because she knows she told me. She's a doctor. Okay...I get it. Whatever.

If you haven't had the sushi here yet you are missing out, the best sushi in dayton imo.

  • Jed M.

Let me be the one who confirms that prices on certain menu items are a little steep here. Especially compared to equal portions and better taste at Young's cafe, for example. Specifically, the bulgogi. It was good, but expensive and not too spicy at all, which is what most people prefer; I'll concede that. The spicy california roll was fantastic. I wish I had gotten some salmon or tuna sashimi so I could rank the "real" sushi, but if I had to bet, I believe that would be good too. The waitstaff was new or unsure on what to do, but our party of 12 had few problems. There was a married Korean woman and her husband (who may own the place or are at least in management there), and they entertained us by singing karoke and telling obscenely inappropriate stories (mostly the woman). But it was entertaining, and I'm happy for it. Definitely will be going back.

My wife and I have gone a half dozen times now for the lunch buffet. We really like the combination of hot, generally Korean dishes (bulgogi, spicy pork, chapchae, etc), salads, and the sushi. They have a nice selection, some of the basic rolls, but also nigiri (salmon, tuna, something else) and some of the fancier rolls, tempura fried, dragon roll, etc. Service has been friendly and prompt. Good value for everything they have.

Came in from out of town and ordered up carry out based upon some reviews and service that the restaurant provided and will be back again when in the area. Ordered up $275 worth of food to have delivered to McGuffy's for my good friends who were performing there that night and the restaurant let me e-mail an order ahead of time and pay for everything so all I had to do was show up. There were some logistics issues on my end but the management staff was very accommodating and when I got to the venue Dakota and (I can only assume) the management were very friendly helping me carry and get situated. The food got rave reviews from all that were attending, the rolls were well made and the fish was very fresh - the chicken and beef was amazing. Was a great experience and I would highly recommend Sima for your dining needs.

One of my three favorite restaurants in Dayton. Menu is diverse and unique. It has something for everybody. They always have some interesting special features, too. Presentation is like a work of art. Owners are warm and accommodating. They treat you like you are family. Recently, they introduced a new menu with smaller portions. It keeps you from getting overstuffed and is easier on you pocketbook, too. If you like Asian, Sima is a must.

  • Dennis H.

Sima is one of my favorite destinations in the East Dayton area. I love the sushi and the bulgogi, and if you're looking for a culinary adventure, their traditional menu is for you. Also, try the lunch boxes and the Korean sides. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because their service can sometimes be a little sluggish by American standards, but the food makes up for that , in my opinion.

The first time we went for lunch. We had heard others rave about the sushi so we wanted to try it. My special roll was almost $15 and wasn't anything to celebrate. That didn't even include salad and Miso like most other places. The service was ok but our server had really bad B.O. that made my stomach turn a tad. So first visit I wasn't impressed and felt that I had been robbed of gas money. We decided to give it another try yesterday for the Sushi lunch buffet we heard about. How cool, right? WRONG. The buffet was $14.99 (Seriously?!??? and didn't include the drinks). They had a few choices of meats like chicken teriyaki, mongolian beef, and spicy chicken wings. ALL WERE COLD. The Sushi spread was nothing special at all. It was the same as we get at other buffets that are cheaper and have hot food. We were severely disappointed and will not be going back. We've learned our lesson. I Bottom line - way to pricey for what you get. Go to Saya or China Dynasty for Sushi - much better value!

We attended Sima for the second time on Super Bowl Sunday. My boyfriend and I are not sports fans and were looking for a laid back experience without a loud TV blaring in the background... boy were we in for a surprise. My boyfriend decided he wanted the endless BBQ, which was priced at a staggering $25.99 a person. I chose to go with a traditional sushi roll. They moved us to the BBQ table and my boyfriend proceeded to pick out his meal selections, but we were constantly interrupted by the staff wanting to prepare his BBQ for him instead of letting him cook it himself - something they told him to do. The waiter never brought us our drinks, and another server ended up asking if we'd ordered our drinks and brought them to us. At one point a server kept coming over and imposing certain meats for the BBQ on my boyfriend and insisted I try them also. I did not order the BBQ. I relented and tried the BBQ. Within 60 seconds of having been told to eat the BBQ by one of the staff, another staff member approached our table and announced loudly to us for everyone else to hear that if I had not ordered the BBQ I was not aloud to eat it. She made a big deal out of humiliating me in front of my boyfriend, and then proceeded to ridicule him about sharing. Round after round of certain meats were imposed on my boyfriend, and then he informed me that the BBQ table had a clear sign that said there was a $20 charge if there was any meat left on your plate. WTF! All this was going on during Super Bowl. And yes... the TV was on and blaring right beside the BBQ table. My boyfriend wanted to go to the table at one point but could not because the whole staff gathered around it to watch the half time show. I think for a bill totaling over $60, this may have been the worst dining experience I've ever had. Overall the food was OK, but the atmosphere sucked. I will never go back.

If you've been to Saya in Kaufmann Rd, then the food will be very similar. I cannot say which is better, but I can say that the dinner service is a bit more expensive. The service is great and the person serving us is patient and attentive. I was part of a group with 30 people and our food arrived in a reasonable pace. I recommend this restaurant if you are in the area and you are looking for good Japanese and Korean food.

Had very high hopes for this restaurant. But was disappointed the whole meal. It started from the very begining and continued all the way through. I can't remember when I have had such bad service or poor quality of food. We ordered the gyoja for an appetizer. My wife got 2 rolls and I got the chicken katsu. After about 10 mins, my chicken katsu was delivered. The waiter said is there something wrong. Why would I think it strange to get one entre before the appetizer? We asked about our appetizer and he left again. He brought the miso soup and salad but no gyoja. A waitress brought it over and was puzzled on why our appetizer was just coming out. That is what we want to know!!! Then remarked that the rolls would be delayed because they were backed up. So now its 45 mins later and my chicken is cold and she is just getting her meal. My wife said the rolls were OK but not special. The gyoja was luke warm and soggy like they were left in tepid water or forgotten somewhere in the kitchen. The had no taste. I have had tastier wall paper paste. Pretty much after that we did not see any staff for a long time. They never came back to ask how it was. I would not ever choose to eat here again. There are many restaurants in Dayton that are better. Thai 9, Saya, and Osaka Japanese Steak house, just to name a few.

From the time I walked into here, I liked it. The staff was friendly and joked with us, talked to us like we were regulars, and, most importantly, complimented me on my COACH bag =) Our server suggested the Sima Special Roll and we acquiesced. We also ordered one of the sampler platters with tempura, soft shell crab, and edamame. When all the dishes arrived, we didn't think we were going to be able to eat it all... BUT WE DID. It was delicious! The Sima Special Roll had just the right amount of spice and there was a dappling of caviar on top that gave it barely a hint of saltiness that made using any soy sauce unnecessary. The tempura was crispy and not at all greasy and the beef and its accompanying sauce, delicious. We will be going back soon and trying more of their spicy sushi!

I have never dined at Sima, but I have ordered take-out three times in the last year for me and my husband. On our first try, we asked them to recommend a good dish and they suggested we try the "Playboy Roll". We like it so much, we have not tried anything else. The roll is wrapped in foil, doused in flammable liquid and lit on fire for about a minute, then blown out. This warms up the roll nicely and gives it the smoky flavor. It's devine! Be sure to check out the photos I took of this roll (on SIMA's profile!) For it's price range, definitely a 5 star!

The cold weather finally got here and we were looking for something warm and comforting - the wife was in the mood for yaki soba and I was looking forward to a big bowl of ramen. To sum up: 1. Service was very good - super friendly for the most part, helpful, quick. 2. The food was ok - the yaki soba had great flavor, but for $12.99 (and she got it w/o the meat) and the amount served, it's a bit too pricey. 3. Ramen, for 9.99, lacked much flavor or any vegetables to speak of - just broth and noodles, again - not much for the money. 4. The ambiance is very good - a nice place and again, you'd never believe it was a Frisch's. 5. Both sushi rolls were good - not fantastic, but the spicy cali roll was my favorite of the day, and for 5.99 the most bang for the buck. It's SO close to home, but I'd rather make the drive to Saya or Siam Pad Thai for the money.

If you are a normal eater, you should try the dol sot bimim bap. I go for the vegetarian, no tofu, no egg, different sauce that is basically oil and chili pepper. You should get it however you like it. It usually comes with 3 delicious side dishes. One is kimchi, one is marinated mung beans, and sometimes there is seaweed salad, and sometimes there is something that looks like rice cake. People love the Korean barbecue and Japanese sushi, too. There was a little of a communication barrier with my allergies, and they kept giving me soy, saying it wasn't in the whatever sauce. I'd wake up in the middle of the night having an allergic asthma attack, and I'd have to take my inhaler multiple times and take it easy the next day. (I'm not as unobservant as I seem. With food allergies, it's incredibly difficult to trace the source of your reaction when you have delayed, obscure reactions like I do.) Now, I have worked out what I can order, but I don't recommend the Korean food for people with food allergies. I do recommend the sushi for people with food allergies. They don't put wheat in their sushi rice, a risk I've recently discovered. I am very careful of what I eat here but it's not the fault of the staff. They are attentive and the food comes out fairly quickly, and they genuinely care whether you enjoy your time there. All in all, the restaurant is good. By the way, the manager remembers me now and is very careful, but just don't go there, eat whatever sauce and go into anaphylactic shock. Make sure your allergies are manageable. They mean well.

True mom and pop Korean style. I am a addicted to the Kim chi gae...Kim chi stew. It is super hot...super spicy...but has a balance of flavor that is transcendent. Set aside some time to eat...it is best to savor slowly as it comes to you still boiling in a stone pot. As far as service goes...can you critique a mom and pop like a chain? The owner is in the kitchen. They do their best here and remember returning guests. This is a jewel for Dayton.

The spices on both the bulgogi and kalbi are very complementary while the meats are both tender and succulent. The sides were not varied but they were good. While this is a little more expensive than Saya in Fairborn, I must say the atmosphere, food, and service make up for the price difference. When in the DC area, check out Heebeen, my favorite Korean place to date.

The food is great and the variety is amazing. I also loved the atmosphere--dim lights and cozy booths. The waiters and other employees are all extremely nice and polite. All-around a great place to go. Unfortunately, there was no kids' menu (I was there with my two little siblings), and that's why I'm putting that it's not good for kids on the survey questions.

I'm sorry to do that but I really wanted to love this place. Seems like they did every mistake possible to ruin our experience. I heard about SIMA a while back & always wanted to check it out, since I love Sushi & there are not many sushi restaurants in Dayton. So I grabbed my good friend from out of town and gave it a shot... As we arrived, the host was about to seat us in a boot, yet my friend wanted to dine at a regular table which we made a reservation for. The host had to ask his manager for permission. We waited few minutes, standing in the middle of the restaurant, the host came back saying it would be ok. Got our menus and were about to order. I must say that they got huge selection of sushi & other dinner items. The menu got two parts to it, one is Japanese and the other is Korean. Menus were outdated, old, dirty, oily & photos were pale and blurry. Also, the choice charts are extremely confusing. It is unclear which section should be marked. Mistake #1: My friend is allergic to avocado, therefore he ordered a roll which doesn't contain avocado. Well, guess what, my friend was shocked to find that his roll had plenty of avocado in every piece. Mistake #2: We explained the situation to the waiter, yet he needed to open our menu & verify the roll's menu description. All we asked is to have a new roll made without avocado. So the old roll sits on the plate with another roll we ordered, I had 2 bites from that avocado roll before my friend noticed it was a mistake... So the waiter brings an empty plate and asks me to transfer the remaining of the avocado roll into his plate, piece by piece, so he could take it back... Are you F***en kidding me??! A) Why are you so concerned with an old item which was poorly made to begin with while you should rush & put the correct order in so we could get our food already and finally EAT??? B) Why are you concerned with the old item which was already partly eaten (by me), no really? What you gonna do with it? I'm just looking for some clear logic? Would you eat it yourself? Would you trash it? If so, why don't you keep it on the table for me to eat? C) Do you think it's attractive in anyway to perform having other diners watch me fishing those remaining sushi pieces back to your tray? It was just weird, and yes, I assumed, since you guys made the mistake, you will rush and fix it while leaving the wrong roll at list for somebody else to enjoy. You call it 'being large'/taking responsibility/compensation. Mistake #3 After done with food, before dessert, my friend asked to join him for his cigarette outside. I asked the hostess to hold my Credit Card & ID, just to be on the safe side. I also didn't want them to worry too much about us never paying the bill. So the hostess asks me for my whole wallet which is full with cash, cards & checks and also for my car keys! Are you out of your mind??! What kind of a ghetto establishment is that? What about a minimal trust?! Do I look like a criminal to you? Why don't you tell it to my face then? It would still be more polite than asking for my car keys & the whole wallet... Remind you, I was the one to offer you my Card and ID from first place! Ignorant. Mistake #4 So we came back & asked for the check (we were too annoyed for dessert). Our total was $67. My friend put $40 cash, and the rest ($27+tip) was to be charged on my card. I asked the waitresses to do just that. $40 cash, rest on card. Guess what? The genius kept the cash & charged my card $67 I noticed it right away and had to explain her mistake twice, she apologized and said that they'll reverse the charge. No compensation, neither for the wrong order or for the wrong charge. I don't need money, and defiantly not more food but it would of been nice if offered at list a dessert to compensate and sweetened our experience. It goes long ways!! I also must mention that our waiters/ses (which were generally speaking nice but very empty) changed about 3 times during the evening. It also took 5 days for them to reverse the charge on my account. As far as the food goes, huge selection, good soup, mediocre sushi (didn't try other items). The one thing that attracts me the most eating good sushi is the experience of eating fresh and cold exotic foods. The sushi rolls I ate were blend, warm and mushy. Made me miss other restaurants I've dined at in the past... It was not horrible but neither great. The Decor is more stuffy, ethnic traditional than contemporary modern and neat. I did not expected TAO decor, but the place could use some remodeling. Restrooms could use even more remodeling... I gonna check out all other sushi restaurants in the Miami Valley before giving Sima another try. Yalla Bye.

Some of the best Korean food I've had since I was stationed there. My wife and I selected different entree's and were both treated to excellent food and dining. Even though they were fairly busy I think every waitress stopped by to make sure we were doing well and had everything we needed. The korean bbq bulgogi was excellent as were all of the sides. Miso soup, rice, thinly sliced fish cake, thinly sliced and marinated dried squid, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots and home made kimchi. All were as good as I had in Korea or better. I tried a couple vegetable rolls from their sushi bar. They were well prepared too. For me if I had to choose between the sushi bar at Thai9 or here it would be a difficult choice. If your looking for good Korean and Japanese food coupled with exceptional service this is one of the places you must try.

Great, authentic Korean food. Found out they get produce and other products delivered from Chicago which means it is not typical dull Dayton food. This was one of the best meals I have had here. You can tell I am no fan of the food in Dayton coming from DC. Even the miso soup was great. Looking forward to coming back with friends so I can try multiple dishes. If you like any kind of Asian food you need to stop in here. Unexpected surprise for me today.

I recently visited Sima for lunch. Upon arrival, we were one of two tables in the entire place. That kinda scared me, but it was early (11:40ish). The good thing was everyone in the place was more, uhm, authentic than us (we were the only white folks in the place :-)). Sima touts itself as a "Korean, Japanese Sushi Grill BBQ Restaurant" - that's pretty accurate. The sushi menu is typical sushi fare, with some added specialties - we tried an assortment of sushi and it all was impressive. The Sima roll (somewhat spicy) is very good. Salmon and Tuna were fresh and had good taste. There is also a normal grill/lunch menu (I didnt check out the dinner menu) which had the usual suspects for Korean and Japanese fare. While I have not tried non-sushi at the restaurant, I have tried Sima's bulgogi and various meats at the Dayton International Festival recently, and was very happy. Service was very prompt, polite and attentive. The atmosphere is authentic, complete with sushi bar, full alcohol bar (well, maybe not authentic but who can resist scotch at lunch?), and nice ambiance. Prices are acceptable - a large sushi lunch for 3 of us was around $50 w/ salad/soup/soft drinks. Lunch combo's were in the $8-10 range. Overall, a very good experience. I was concerned that with the lack of customers when we arrived that the place might not be open long. That concern was gone when we left, I hadn't noticed but the restaurant was about 70% populated. Cool.

The place looks fancy both on the outside and the inside. The food was so-so; I got a bowl of Udon and my boyfriend got a few rolls of sushi. Everything was pretty average. They forgot to give us my gyoza appetizers and charged me for it, but I didnt care enough to call back. The server seemed friendly and the atmosphere was nice, but overall, I reccommend Akashi on Harshman Rd for Japanese and Sushi

I love sima! The Korean spicy pork lunch box special is fantastic and they have some of the best sushi in town. Staff are very friendly and helpful, glad this place is close to me!

When my fiance and I ate at Sima we were thrilled to FINALLY find a restaurant in the Dayton area that served authentic korean cuisine (bbq grill, dor sol bimbimbap, kimchee jigee, etc) as well as tasty Japanese dishes. The restaurant is clean, the waitress was very nice and courteous, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was great. We had the dor sol bimbimbap and the Playboy roll, and both were yummy! We will definitely be going back again!
