Quite possibly the best sushi I've ever tried. Loved the Crazy Roll (shrimp, tempura roll, smoked salmon on top) Extremely delicious!

This place is depressing. The decor looks like they were going to try to make it nice, and then immediately gave up. Dirty looking on the inside and looks abandoned from the outside. First, we were sat and then it was about 10 minutes before even getting our drinks ordered. Rice was undercooked and crunchy. Portions were small compared to most hibachi restaurants and definitely not worth the price. I will not be returning to this run down suburban nightmare.

Sushi and sashimi are all 30% off right now. Very creative chef. He drew an edible picture on our rainbow roll plate tonight. No pictures more focused on eating the yummy food. Service is always good. Don't get the salad is always swimming in dressing.

They close between 2 and 4pm and refused to seat us when we arrived at 1:50pm for a late lunch. They really should take into consideration late arrivals when setting their closing times.

2.5 is my honest rating. This place was once my go-to place for sushi (now it's Akashi). During the number of times I've been here I have noticed many inconsistencies with their food and service. Their sushi would be good one day and not so good another. This one server we have in the sushi area is rather 'odd'. I'd ask her if they have a green bottled sake in which I forgot the name (but we previously tried there), and she says "no" and looks at me as if I don't know what I'm talking about. With the sake list there, me and my husband Googled the one we were looking for and found the correct name, asked for it, and she brings us the green bottled sake. Another time, the same server messed up one of my dinner orders in which I asked one entree for here and one to go since I was eating, or planning to eat, with friends and bring home the 2nd entree for the hubby. As my friends received their sushi boat and I was picking off whatever I had left of my appetizer I was sitting there thinking wtheck is taking so long for my food. My friends were halfway done w/ their food by the time I found out what happened. I ended up taking both entrees home. Also, I ordered the shrimp shumai appetizer once and its definitely the frozen stuff because it was partially cold/frozen in the middle. Overall, I'm still mixed as to weather I'll go back here again or just stick with Akashi instead.

If I could, I'd make this a 3.5. I bought a few rolls, beef negimaki, and squid salad. While everything was satisfactory, nothing blew me out of the water. I am fond of the New Orleans roll here...because I love crawfish. I was off put by the initial waitress we had. She didn't tend to us at all...just took our order and brought us our food. The younger one that ended up giving us our check seemed a lot more friendly. I think the prices are fair for the service and food you receive.

The prices were good. The atmosphere is so-so. Definitely needed a shower after I left because the ventilation was awful and I smelled like fried food. The floor was even slippery from grease. Will not visit again.

The sushi is very very good. I've made it my goal to sample all the sushi Dayton has to offer. I'm nearing the end of that quest and this is my favorite so far. Cheaper than other places also. 50% off all sushi for the month of July. Fantastic deal. Update: 3 months later and I've eaten here a few more times. The food has been consistently good. It's no longer the best I've had in Dayton but definitely still worth a look.

Great food and friendly staff. We had a group of 11 (including 7, 4 and 1 1/2 year old) to celebrate a milestone birthday. The entire staff were patient with us deciding on what to order, and even came to entertain the little ones while we enjoyed our dinner. I would recommend this restaurant for special occasions and for families.

Sushi always well prepared, service is usually very good. When they're busy service can fall off a bit!, but we've always been satisfied when we visit!!

The fish was good. That is the one positive thing I have to say. The service was bad, they actually didn't want us there. Even though they got our orders very wrong and we were still very polite and good natured about it, after we were about half done with our dinner, they would come up about every 10 minutes and say "you pay now!". They didn't even ask if we wanted dessert. Also, the miso soup was very weak. Tasted like water and dehydrated mix. Pitiful....

This place has great food. This is one of those places that grills up your food at your table as you watch. It is truly a form of entertainment. Many of the chefs will not only cook flamboyantly, but they'll do a few cool tricks too. I've been here a few times, but the best time was to celebrate a friend's 21st birthday. They happily gave him a pretty nice pair of chopsticks, packed into a decorative box. They didn't look cheap. A very nice gift, and to celebrate his 21st, they offered a sake bomb contest, which was also a bit of an entertaining event. I like this restaurant very much. Not the cheapest place--about $18-23 a person-- but worth the visit. The one complaint some might have is that the building looks pretty run down from the outside. Doesn't look attractive at all. But I assure you it's much nicer inside.

Let me preface this by saying that my wife and I love sushi and love food. I don't care about the decor, and the price of the food dose not effect my rating. The sushi is great. They use fresh quality ingredients and they taste very good. Just simple rolls like a California roll tastes as good as some other places special rolls. Our favorite rolls are the jaguar roll (deep fried eel), California roll, Alaska roll, and eel roll. The service is always great. They typically have 2 to 3 people come by to fill up your water. The hibachi is about the same as anywhere, not as good as The Japanese Steakhouse in Columbus, that has been the only hibachi I have really been impressed with. Prices are high compared to some other sushi places but not compared to high quality sushi places. If this place were in a nicer location, their sushi would cost a lot more and no one would complain.

Good sushi! Mostly a hibachi steak house place, but a decent sushi selection and reasonable prices overall. Fresh fish, some of the sauces a bit on the heavy side, but still tasty. Place could be a little cleaner, I hate sticky tables, hence only three stars instead of four.

The sushi (hamachi) was some of the best I've ever had, very fresh. The only issue was the place is very sticky, probably from the very used grills they have in the restaurant. The decor is very dated, but the fresh sushi was a pleasant surprise.

service is usually great. staff is always friendly to me. The sushi always seems fresh and done very well. The hibachi seems like every other hibachi place. The only gripe I have is with the prices, but I guess it is expected for a sushi place.

Positives: Sushi rolls are half-off and nigiri are 30% off on Mondays. 'International' sushi (rolls with rice in the outside) tasted pretty good and I'd say we're good value on Mondays. The hibachi tables were lively and really seemed to be enjoying themselves. The hibachi entertainers seemed to be skilled at their craft. Rating is based on what they do well and my limited experience with the menu. Negatives: Portions were small (particularly the nigiri). I'd say the size worked on Mondays, but would be too small at full price. Nigiri were not good, though perhaps they would be better closer to delivery. Conclusion: Based on my experience with similar restaurants would not suggest ordering nigiri sushi or traditional Japanese dishes. Would suggest 'international' sushi and hibachi dishes. The service was ok. Doubt I will go back, but it is close to my house and my wife likes 'international' sushi, so maybe... Would recommend Sakai and Ariake in the area for something a bit more traditional.

Love this place. Been here twice now and have loved both times! The Taku Salad (Octopus in sweet vinegar) is amazing. The fish in the sushi rolls is generous and fresh. Very happy. Especially with the half price roll sale.
