Will NOT eat at this restaurant again...... I went to El Toro with my wife, mother-in-law, father-in-law and sister-in-law to sit on the patio for a nice Saturday dinner. We sat for a LONG time waiting for drinks. When the drinks finally arrive, I noticed two women sitting in the corner next to us that appeared to be drunk. No biggie. Happens to everyone...UNTIL one of the women started puking onto the patio. It just so happens that our food was delivered right about that time. I advised the waitress we needed a table inside because I was not going to eat dinner next to someone puking. We moved inside to finish our meal and drinks. Another large party was then seated at our previous table (next to the puker). They sat at the table for about three minutes before demanding a table inside. Of course the waitress not once apologized and my wife went up to the manager and advised him what was going on. The manager said he was aware of it and the two women were regulars at the restaurant. WHAT!! That's the response??!!! The brought THREE buckets of sanitized water out on THREE separate occasions to wash the patio. She just kept puking and they just kept washing.....absolutely ridiculous. Apparently being a regular at El Toro means you can throw-up where ever you want. DO NOT EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT!! Overall call: Service: Unsatisfactory Atmosphere: Unsatisfactory Drinks: Unsatisfactory Food: Unsatisfactory

Don't go! Yesterday, I took my whole family to this El Toro.. We sat on the patio. In the corner were 2 women drinking margaritas. Apparently, they drank A LOT of margaritas. Well, one proceeded to get sick on the patio. The staff just brought out buckets of water and washed it away, and kept serving them. Needless to say, everybody close by vacated the patio to finish their dinner. So, what happened? They just continued to sit there, passing out, and puking all over the place. I will NEVER be back.

Nothing special. I stopped by for lunch. It's a big restaurant, but mostly empty when I arrived around 11:30am. As a single, they tried to steer me toward the bar area, but I asked for a booth. Bar stools aren't my cup of tea (or salsa?). Normal lunch combos that you see in all chain Mexican placed. I placed my order and munched on chips and salsa. The salsa had big chunks of tomato in it, which turned me off, even though the flavor was good. I didn't have much time to munch though as the food was out amazingly fast. The rice and beans were bland. The meat was well seasoned. So overall, a mixed bag. I'll probably try the other Mexican options close by before I'll come back.

Fast, friendly service, good food, and a nice atmosphere. Steak fajitas were superb, as was the bean enchilda. Lunch menu is cheap. Strongly recommend.

Meh. I was expecting it to be more crowded than it was for a nice Saturday afternoon, that should have been my warning. Sticky menus, weak service, and mediocre food. After having a sticky menu I felt like everything was slightly dirty. The chips and salsa were ok. They do not serve Coke products and so I was stuck with Pepsi, but no big deal. I ordered enchiladas and they were ok at best. My server never came back so eventually I walked up to the cash register to pay. Overall a below average experience.

Not authentic, but steamed food that they bring out on an overheated plate. The salsa looks to be fresh out of the can as well. I'm not a fan of the tex-mex places, but I heard good things about the food here so I thought we'd give it a shot. Today our server tried to take our order in a microsecond, which was nice, but we weren't ready. He stomped off and literally didn't come back for almost 10 minutes. When he did, he didn't say anything, and just stared at us. He didn't acknowledge our order, he just walked off. We were there about 12:30, and he must have gotten off at 1, so he was obviously trying to rush us. It was probably the least friendly and worst service I have experienced anywhere. The food was just okay, I could have saved some money by going to Taco Bell. It was as good as you can expect for food marketed as authentic. As I was leaving I let out some fresh farts in the foyer.

They just updated their wing recipe. They are now crunchier, juicer, and meatier. I could eat here everyday. If your hungry hungry I would recommend La Favorita. Nice serving of flank steaks and huge shrimpsand grilled onions with all the necessary Mexican accouterments (pico, guac, beans, rice, crema, etc) Went there two weeks ago for my stepdad's birthday and they brought out a round of shots for all 10 of our party.

Adequate but no better. Salsa was hot but without a lot of flavor. Refried beans were bland. Spice on the carne asada was minimal. Carnitas were very mild too. Service was a bit sluggish, In the category of 'Midwest Mexican' there are better choices in the Dayton area.

Look, I realize this is Tex-Mex and NOT authentic Mexican food, but they have a dish here with chicken, pineapple and chorizo that is to die for. El Zacatacano or Polo Locco or something like that. You'll know it when you see it

HORRIBLE! When we walked in the servers were sitting together eating and ignored us! After waiting several minutes they finally acknowledged us and told us to sit down. 15 minutes later the guy came back and asked for our drink order and we asked if they planned to ignore us all night an he said no but they have to have a break. He took our order and muttered and curse afterwards and walked away. He brought some soupy disgusting cheese dip and after 25 minutes never brought our drinks out. The other servers were too busy glaring and being rude to even see if we needed anything. We walked out and no one asked if we needed anything. This place sucks! And I will never go back!!

In the Dayton area from out of town so we though we would try this restaurant. Food is decent but nothing spectacular and not worth the price. Salsa was pretty watery, burrito was fairly good but it was supposed to come with rice and I was given retried beans without being asked if this was OK beforehand because the rice had run out. As other people have mentioned, the service leaves a lot to be desired... It took over an hour to get our food, a half hour for refills, and twenty minutes for the bill after we asked for it. Would not go back.

Very poor service, I had to wait 15 minutes to get a beer refill. It took 45 minutes to get my food. This was a slow Wednesday night. I will not return

I don't love or hate El Toro but just feel indifferent. This place is very similar to all the other Mexican restaurants in Dayton. The food was good but the Margarita was better. Service was slow and the waiter didn't really seem to care but that probably is more of a culture thing then anything else. It's definitely a place I'll go back to but would rather make Mexican food at home.

This place is much better than the other location in Bellbrook. The other location got be sick but this place I frequent every time I'm visiting my parents. Haven't gotten sick and the food is always piping hot.

The service today was pretty horrible. Waited a over 5 minutes for a waitress to come to the table (we had to go grab someone) and she was unsure if she would be assisting us the rest of the time. The margaritas are subpar today, BUT one plus is the food was good and came out quickly and hot. I won't count El Toro out just yet, hopefully they do better next time.

I always know what I'm going to get when I go to El Toro. Friendly service and ok food. Portions are typical Mexican restaurant sized. Nice vegetarian options if you're not into meat. It isn't "really good" Mexican food, but it ain't bad. Vegetarian fajitas are my go-to & there are always a nice variety of vegetables presented. They have a nice little patio too at this location so if it suites your fancy, you can sit al fresco. This restaurant is large and nicely decorated. Bathrooms are always tidy too. Overall an A-ok place to go!

I went here because a friend said it was "really good Mexican food". However, my experience was much less than positive. I ordered enchiladas, and to be completely honest they were terrible. When I got the food it was lukewarm at best, and it appeared that the food had already been prepared and just re-heated. I've had frozen enchiladas that you heat in the oven that tasted better than these... The other thing that bothered me was their pricing. $10 for 3 crappy enchiladas - outrageous!! Bottom line: for how expensive this place was, it was nowhere near worth it. The food was subpar at best and WAY overpriced...

Our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area! I had the burrito California. It is a large burrito filled with tender carne asada (thin steak), guacamole, and pico de gallo. Spice intolerant people will think it is hot from the fresh jalapeño chunks, but I think it has a nice mild flavor. Generally, it is served with white cheese sauce on top, but I usually order it dry. The wait staff has a low turnover so they always remember us from the last visit and make us feel welcome. The only downside is that they don't serve horchata.

The Tacos al Pastor were on point! Perfect amount of spice without being overwhelming. Food was fast and hot and the service was great. Would definitely come back again.

Excellent lunch menu prices for a sit-down place, large portions, and the food is pretty good and pretty authentic as far as Midwestern Mexican restaurants go. Sorry not to see the words "carne asada" anywhere on the menu though.

The food is pretty good but it does taste like most Mexican restaurants. The strawberry margarita was fantastic. it took about 5-7 min for a waiter to get to our table even though they were not busy at all, but once he greeted us, the service was beyond excellent.

Always a pleasure to eat at here. They always greet me with a smile and food comes out fast.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
