Eating good food at the right time can control your blood sugar, also stop you from craving wrong sort of food. Jamba Juice offers drinks in three separate sizes: 16, 24, and 32-ounce. You can choose the lowest serving size and cut down on sugars and calorie intake. Diabetics are recommended to opt for smaller serving size while ordering at Jamba Juice. Also, avoid opting for creamy treats as all the smoothies offered in this category contain a load of sugars.

Keep the sugar content below 50g per meal at Jamba Juice and ensure that you don't follow it with a heavy meal. A small size regular smoothie is equivalent to a meal for everyone. Classic smoothies at Jamba Juice are also heavily loaded with sugars. Stay away from that section if you are a diabetic.

Enjoy the atmosphere and the old world charm. They have some of the best perogies and sauerkraut balls that I have ever had in the Dayton area. Great food, little pricer, but definitely get enough food for the money spent at Amber Rose.

The food is very European .. you like it or you don't. The dessert menu is excellent, and the beer selection has some great Euro varieties.

If you want German, Polish or Czech food in Dayton this is one of two options and this is substantially the better option. Forget about Boulevard Haus on Fifth (overpriced and not great). This place has been around forever and they have not tried to change their menu to keep up with trends....which is a good thing! They make very good "Central European" food. This is a no frills place but comfortable and inviting. I have never had bad service here either which is a big plus. It is located in a rough neighborhood but that should not deter you from eating here. They have a huge parking lot and we go frequently and have never had an issue. It is a neighborhood landmark. This place is not for someone dieting or looking for "light" options. You simply won't find any. The sauerkraut balls are little nuggets of heaven. My husband could live on the beer cheese! I usually get the sampler plate and always end up taking half home for dinner. If I have one complaint at all it is that sometimes the cabbage rolls are too sweet. I love cabbage rolls but don't like them sweetened. They don't seem to do this routinely because I have had them when I did not taste any sugar at all which is the way I prefer. Another point of interest about this establishment is that they have a resident ghost named "Chicky." There are many documented events of spiritual encounters at this restaurant and on the property. The waitress informed us that a second ghost was discovered in the basement recently by one of the paranormal investigators for a popular TV series. Pretty cool stuff!

Nice locally owned restaurant. Easy to get to, never too crowded, and good food. I would highly recommend it over the fast food joints.

The 1900's appearance may put you off, or perhaps it's remote location, but once inside and stuffing your face you won't think of anything else except how wonderful the food is. I went there with a group of six and we all shared to have a taste of the many items. It's always a pleasure to eat outside of the chain restaurant experience and find something exceptional. This is not sophisticated dining but it is comfortable, and can be what you make it. The staff is very friendly and the food is freshly made. What more could you ask for?

Sauerkraut balls were fabulous. Very tasty and indeed crispy from the outside, juicy from the inside. Came here on a Wednesday so was pretty empty. Also ordered the signature dish - turtle soup and yes was delicious indeed. It was tomato based and was nice and tangy. Really melts in your mouth. Giving it one less star because some of the cutlery was not clean, the bread along with the soup was kinda old and hard and the waitress could have smiled more. Otherwise the food is definitely something you need to try.

Went to the Amber Rose last night for dinner. Everyone at our table really enjoyed their meals. We had the Perogies, Hunter Schnitzel, Hungarian Chicken Paparika, German chocolate cake and carrot cake. The flavors were wonderful. It is a small little place in a neighborhood, it reminds me of some of the places we would go while in Germany. A random restaurant next to houses. The wait staff was attentive the meals came out quickly, were hot. It was not an expensive dinner. We will definitely plan to go back. For those looking for gluten-free, there are a couple options on the menu that would work perfectly.

Well, at least Teacher Appreciation Week at my school turned out one good thing: Crayons to Classrooms gave everyone a $10 gift certificate to The Amber Rose, a restaurant to which I had not been! Not wanting to cook one weeknight, Jules and I headed out for some Eastern European food as a change of pace. Honestly, I didn't know what to expect. I grew up in Pittsburgh--a land covered with kilbasa, pirogi, halupki, haluski, and more. Could a place in Dayton compare or even better that? Yes. Yes it could. The Amber Rose looks like an antique to a degree. The place could certainly use a bit of modernization, but the service was kind and timely and the food more than makes up for the ambiance. I had the Chicken Paprikas--a delectable dish with just a touch of heat, served over an herbed spaetzle. Honestly? The portion that I was given was more than anyone could possibly eat. I took home what must have been half to two-thirds of the meal, enjoying it the next night. Jules indulged in the Warsaw Sampler, coming away from the table claiming that those were the best pirogi that she'd ever eaten. While I can't say we'll make The Amber Rose a regular part of our dinners out, it's certainly a treat we'll look forward to when I want that taste of home!

The room is quaint with a nice atmosphere. The service was very friendly. I just wish I could say I enjoyed the meal. I ordered the Schnitzel a la Holstein and a pilsner. The side salad was nicely done. Fresh mixed greens, cucumber and a slice of tomato. The main course came out, and it looked good, until I started forking it. The "fresh" vegetables were overdone to the point of not being recognizable. The schnitzel was a touch overdone and soggy. The spaetzle seemed like it had been sitting around for a while. The dish was much heavier than it needed to be. Everything looked great on paper, but missed in execution. Just needs to be tightened up.

I've been interested in trying this Dayton institution for a few years now and tonight I finally got my chance. The building is an old Victorian home that has been converted into a charming restaurant. The inside still holds up it's historical home roots with a beautiful plaster ceiling and antique details throughout. The food was really amazing. I got the Warsaw Sampler and my husband got the Chicken Paprikas. My dish was great all around. The cabbage roll was huge and seasoned and cooked just right. Their sauerkraut has a unique twist. It has the typical sauerkraut vinegary bite but includes a little sweetness from carrots and some smokiness from bacon. The perogies were made in a unique way but I was very pleased. Instead of incorporating the cheese into the potato filling, it seems like they formed a ball of the potato filling around a piece of cheese. It left a tasty gooey cheese "pocket" in the middle. The sausage was by far the best thing on the plate. It had just the right amount of spices and you could tell it was homemade. Definitely going back!

This place makes some of the better German/ Hungarian food I've had! I came with a group one day after work and had no idea what to expect other than European/ German food. The food was outstanding! I ordered the Hunter Schitzel which is pretzel crusted pork loin topped with Dijon cream sauce. This was served with potato pancakes and house-made Sauerkraut. The pork had a nice crispiness to it and the sauce was awesome. The house-made sauerkraut was also really nice. The other people in the group all enjoyed their's thoroughly as well. The person next to me got the Hungarian Chicken Paprikas and it looked especially delicious! The bar also seemed to be well stocked. They had a good selection of beer, wine, and a decent liquor stock. The staff was also very nice and provided great recommendations and service. I look forward to coming back and trying a few more of the wonderful dishes here.

Amber Rose is one of my favorite hidden gems in the Dayton Area. With a full gluten free menu, and a personalized dairy free menu emailed to me by the chef, Amber Rose is fully understanding of people with food allergies and sensitivities. It also has some of the best Eastern European food and desserts I've ever had! Between the trips we've taken and sharing bites with my husband and parents, we've tried just about everything on the menu. For a first time trip, try the Warsaw Medley (Enjoy a traditional cabbage roll, savory homemade sausage, tangy Amber Rose sauerkraut and potato-filled pierogies) or the Lithuanian Sampler (We fill your plate with a generous sampling of these all-time favorites: kugelis (a rich potato dish) with sour cream, virtinai (traditional meat dumplings) topped with crispy bacon, house-made Lithuanian sausage and Amber Rose sauerkraut.). And DO NOT skip dessert, especially if you tell the waiter its your birthday! Free regular size dessert!!! The German Chocolate cake and the bread pudding are the best you can get! Wait staff is always polite and helpful. Environment is classy and romantic, but casual.

Had this place for lunch today. I was soooo excited to try the sauerkraut balls. They tasted like they forgot the sauerkraut. I got the 1/2 sand which and potato soup which was good. The service was great. I'm really disappointed in the sauerkraut balls:(

I hadn't been to the Amber Rose in a couple of years, not because I haven't liked it in the past, just because it's on the other side of town. My frequency in eating here will change. I remembered eating their cabbage rolls last time I was there and enjoyed them very much. But, our waitress recommended the corned beef & cabbage as they only serve it during the St Patrick Day season once a year. So I said "what the hell", it was a great choice. The entree was delicious and the soda bread was the best I've ever had. Great job guys. See you soon

Whenever I come across a German restaurant, I've got to stop and give it a try. The Amber Rose Restaurant was about average. They offered a few authentic dishes on the menu, though some were a little over cooked, the beef wasn't tender and there was too much breading on some dishes. The real disappointment here was the poor beer list. For a German restaurant, there was a major gap in their menu. Where are all the great German and Austria beers?

    (3)
  • Wayne W.

Went there for lunch today and wasn't really feeling it. The menu was however very interesting despite the fact that they seemed to cater more to the pork and red meat eaters. They had things like turtle soup on the menu and other festive German influenced dishes. I ordered the battered fish because there wasn't much to choose from as far as chicken, turkey, or any other seafood. The waitress was very uninformed. She didn't know her beers very well and my colleagues had to school her (which was quite entertaining). This place could also use a facelift on the interior. I understand that it's trying to foster an antique old school environment but cracked paint and u polished wood doesn't do it for me. The fish was half burnt on the bottom to make matters worse. So for those of you wanting to know if it was delicious or not; I could've done myself a favor and went to the hood and got something much more authentic w/ better side dishes for $12! Yes that's a half burnt piece of fish and fries for $12. I only had water to drink. I damn sure wasn't gonna waste my money so I ate the fish and skimped around on the fries that you could tell were recently frozen. Yuck. I've been many places around this country (not city or state) but COUNTRY, and this isn't a place I'd revisit anytime soon.

Tried their cheesy fries at GarlicFest 2015. The fries are the kind that are soft and limp. I actually enjoy these better than say... Steak n'Shake's crispy skinny sticks, as I call them. The cheese sauce was an off-white and looked like a gravy you might see on biscuits and gravy, where you could see the spices in the gravy. But, this was definitely a cheese sauce. It was very thick and I could taste the spices. Though I could taste the garlic, they were not as garlicky as I might expect at a garlic festival. It was good. I am glad I tried it and look forward to trying more of their food. I love a good stroganoff and pierogis.

  • Carl W.

The food is faithfully prepared to meet expectations for Eastern European/German fare. This is not a fancy restaurant, but down-to-earth, good quality. The neighborhood is a bit questionable, but the restaurant is worth the trip.

The food is absolutely wonderful turtle soup cabbage rolls beef stroganoff pieroges & onions is what we had great beer selection and was peaceful, always a nice greeting and in a awesome looking place a true Dayton Gem!

Terrible and overpriced. I am a European. I ordered the Lithuanian Platter. This is not European cuisine. This is mush without flavor, lots of filler and potato. Salad was submediocre, stuffed mushrooms pathetic and overpriced. Homemade sausage was reminiscent of casings stuffed with sawdust filler. For what I paid here I could have eaten elsewhere like a king. Avoid this place at all costs.

we ordered the meat dumplings to take home. They put them in a Styrofoam container, so when we got home, they were all stuck together. I guess that is why Chinese restaurants pay great attention in how they package the steamed dumplings with great care in foil. My husband said the post roast tasted OK, but it was obvious it was not the greatest grade of beef. My cabbage roll had no taste or zing to it, although the food was very salty. The cabbage rolls also had a weird sweetness. The sauce on the cabbage rolls was just tomatoes--not a rich sauce at all. This place is no Tony Packo's or Grand Dukes. It really did not seem like good Lithuanian food. Nice building, though. It would have been nice if they served a roll or some kind of bread with their entrees.

  • Jon M.

It's a beautiful old building but restaurant is okay. I was really disappointed with their beer selection. I would have thought that a german restaurant would at least have a selection of quality german beers. My wife & I have gone twice now and the food is just bland.

Driving through Dayton we found Amber Rose and my wife and I were pleasantly surprised. This cosy restaurant with ole world charm was smack in the middle of a neighborhood. We ate from the lunch menu and the waitress knew the menu well. I asked if the lemonade was fresh squeezed and she said no it wasn't so I went with a Pepsi. Our appetizer was the potato pancakes. Very good flavors and was fresh. My wife had the Lithiuwanim cabbage rolls. I had the Hungarian chicken paprikas. We shared with each other and they we both were delicious and highly recommend. During the meal the waitress came back to the table with a freshly squeezed lemonade. That was over the top and was greatly appreciated. My wife and I had no complaints and will return to this restaurant again.

The one thing I can say negative is that there are no international beers on tap. Otherwise, the portions are large; the selection, variable and delicious; the servers are incredibly friendly; and the atmosphere is inviting. Dress up or dress down, they won't turn you away for wearing jeans or shorts. I highly recommend the celebrator doublebock with your dinner! It's dark, sweet, and perfect with German cuisine. I ordered the Warsaw, and I was incredibly happy with it! Sauerkraut balls are another delect!

  • Dan H.

Disgusting. Food came out bland, with some items raw and others burned to a literal crisp. If they have gone down that road of hiring $8 an hour kitchen staff, it certainly shows. For a single plate $17 lunch with tiny portions you'd expect the food to be decent. It was a far cry from that.

What a charming place! A historic atmosphere, very friendly staff, and great food. We had the Lithuanian sampler and it ranged from interesting to delicious. All prepared well, but some things I liked, others I didn't. We're going back to try a few more dishes. It was one of those rare restaurants where you see 3 or more dishes that equally compete for your first try. We had a potato pancake app and it was tasty. Closed with an apple crisp (delicious but I'd have liked the apples to be cut a bit larger) and some kind of almond cherry bread pudding which was unbelieveably tasty. The server was incredible. She answered our questions about the restaurant and food without getting too chummy - but remained super-friendly and helpful. A rare balance indeed. It's absolutely worth a stop. You MUST try the sauerkraut. Apples! Whoodda thunk it!

If you're looking for something different that's reasonably priced and features all homemade dishes that melt in your mouth, this is your place! Pleasant decor, helpful & knowledgable wait staff, good selection of food, wines and beer. The bread and beer cheese alone is worth the drive! Wowza! Our party of four each had appetizers, drinks, salads, outstanding entrees, desserts and coffee. We were past stuffed! (Took home most of the entrees for lunch the next day.) The bread pudding and carrot cake were sinful, too! We've already planned our next get-together there in a couple of months...I can't wait!

The best place in 100 miles at least for eastern European food. Lithuanian sampler is a good entree if you aren't sure what to order. Gives you a little bit of everything and is always a crowd pleaser. They often have specials as well which I very good. They featured a short rib one time that was exceptionally delicious. Big bonus, the place is haunted. When you go, ask the staff about sightings. It' makes the place that much more fun. I don't think about this place often enough. Definitely need to add it to my high frequency list.

This is a belated review. I never knew this place existed until the week before I moved out of state! I can say that I am very sad now. The food was absolutely A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!! If you're in the mood for carb-loaded Eastern European comfort food this is the place to go. I had the Virtinai and Perogi Plate ... oh so delicious! The sauerkraut was the best I've ever had. The stand out item for me was the house-made Lithuanian sausage. For the more adventurous eater, they offer a made-from-scratch turtle soup. I can't wait to come back to Dayton to eat here again!

Another great hidden gem found thanks to Grupon/Living Social!! Loved the cozy, "old world" atmosphere, beautifully lit dining room and cozy bar with amazing woodwork detail!! Amazing service, waitress was super quick and attentive. We had the bier-cheese appetizer along with a half carafe of wine and a yummy raspberry gluten free ale. Tasty salads along with two popular entrees, Chicken Paprikas and Beef Stroganoff for dinner were both good, but on the heavy side (but that's normal for stick-to-your-ribs European fare!). I'd like to come back and try the lighter lunch sandwiches/salads. Great spot for a special occasion, or just a break away from the standard chain restaurant fare!!

They're food is way over priced & not very good. The sausage was cooked to death, & they put the little potato pancakes on the plate with the sauerkraut so they get soggy. The Chicken Kiev was dinky,& greasy & the spatzel had no flavor.

For many years, my husband & I have been going to Amber Rose. Though we don't go often, we look forward to a great meal & a nice atmosphere 3 or 4 times a year. This past weekend, we talked my 81 year old mother into going for the first time. She loves a good cabbage roll. We went fairly early to beat the crowd. There happened to be one or two parties upstairs, one of which included children. A parent of two (one with special needs), and grandparent of two, I know that kids don't always behave in a restaurant. These kids ran like a heard of elephants back & forth. We went ahead & ordered the bier cheese appetizer, which we all enjoyed. Salads were good as usual, but what happened to the croutons you used to serve? When the entrees came, they were definitely not up to par. My mom & I both ordered cabbage rolls. The cabbage was tough & hard to cut through & the rice was crunchy & not at all cooked. My husband's hunter schnitzel was not near as tender or tasty as usual. We did tell the waitress after we paid & were ready to leave. I am chalking this up to an isolated incident & hope the next time we visit, we find the experience an enjoyable one again.

My boyfriend and I love this place. Never a wait, awesome food, and great atmosphere. We've had slow service at times, but nothing we've felt we had to complain about. My favorite dish is the Hunter Schnitzel. Be sure to start your meal with the Pierogi and Onion appetizer. To die for!!

This is a must do when we visit family in OH. The food is always good and there is a lot of it. The service has always been wonderful and we have never had a complaint. We normally go for an early dinner, and have never had a wait though I do remember when we lived close by we would go during some busier times. My 5 year old loves the turtle soup, and the waitress even played along that it was "food turtle" and not real turtle (which is his theory on meat). We are going to be out there in a few weeks, and this is on our list for a relaxing family dinner.

Wonderfully unique. I was in town briefly for work and saw the reviews from my fellow Yelpies (I got dibs on that if it takes off). I wanted some German food, but was swayed by the menu to try something different: Latvian food (which is like German, just more Baltic-y). More on that later. I was a little apprehensive since the name implies it's more catering than restaurant. However, that's a misnomer. The building is in a neighborhood and appears to be freshly renovated with a nice custom stained-glass front and a clean, bistro atmosphere inside. The wait and bar staff is very friendly and welcoming. Since it was Oktoberfest time (hence my quest for German food), they were offering your first draft beer for 10 cents and subsequent drafts for $1.50. Done. The menu was awesome, ranging from pretzel encrusted schnitzel and sauerbraten to homemade pierogis, herbed spaetzle and sauerkraut. Then there was the Latvian sampler plate: Amazing. sausage, kraut, potato casserole (kugelis) and virtinai (meat dumplings). It was obvious that everything on the plate was made from scratch with care.....the best food I've had in a long time. Amber Rose is good for a date or just grabbing a bite at the bar. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
