The burger was cooked to order. The beer was plentiful. The bartender suggested a good choice. The TVs were on all the sports

Great outdoor patio with access to multiple TVs. Was there for $.55 wing night on Tue, order in multiples of five. The sesame was my favorite, the dry rub garlic Parmesan had no flavor. Great selection of both draft and craft bottles. Nice place to drink, food is just ok. There is an iguana living in the waiting area. They ask for your number and text you when the table is ready.

It's petty cool place, great selection of beers. My server was really nice, they were kinda busy but not that busy that we didn't get good service. But got damn they some their food is not good at all and I'm not even trying to be mean. So I got roped in meeting some friends and I didn't really have a great culinary experience last time I came here. I ordered some chicken wings, they tasted gross as if they went bad, they kinda also tasted burnt, not to mention bland. The sauce was ok enough to cover up the gross taste & had I not been with friends and not so hungry I would have said something about it. As far as ordering chicken wings, Roosters wings are way better. I tried my friends battered pickles and they weren't that great. Honestly I don't know why they serve food? Cruel I know... I also know that it was so bad that I won't EVER order food from here again not eat anything out of that kitchen! ------ UPDATE HERE AGIAN ----- Straight up walked in the bathroom to wash my hands and I seen an employee not wash their hands after using the restroom. On another note, I ordered the pretzels. Low and behold, I finally ordered something good. I asked for more beer-cheese & the guy kept saying blue cheese. He was clearly out of his mind & neglected to ask again, lol! Just got the ribs, mainly cause it's Rib Wednesday and it was really good. Surprise surprise! Oh and there beer of the month glass you get to keep!

Other then all the TVs echoing of each other. The onion rings, and root beer float were good. The salad tasted like it was open in the fridge for a few days. Ribs were fatty and dry, pot roast special is not good as a cheese sandwich. We won't be going back any time soon. Server was ok

The row of tvs makes this a great pub to catch the game, any game. I've been here twice, both times while in Ohio for career training. I've never eaten here but the selection of craft beers makes this a great place to hang out with new friends and try some local brewskis.

The food is mediocre at best. The fact that they wont split a 20 piece of wings is ridiculous. I understand not splitting 10 but when a customer comes in to order 40 or more wings and since they can serve 10 wings whats the big deal with splitting them.

Not too shabby! When I first walked in, the music was super loud techno, club type music (weird) but eventually it changed to more normal suburb bar music. The staff was very friendly and the seating wasn't squished. I ordered an angel food martini (bringing back those college years) and it was great! I also got myself a half order of the nachos and for less than $5 you can't argue! It came with cheese, onions, tomatoes, black olives and jalapenos. Going past the 23/270 area is awful right now, but I had a good time for a fair price.

Best Wings. Great Service. Nice atmosphere.

It's a sports bar - you don't go there to grab a cold one and talk about an audit with a colleague - it's way too noisy for that. However, it's a great place to walk to from a nearby hotel and get a much cheaper drink then what a hotel has to offer. The place was huge, lots of parking (even though we walked) and it has a large selection of bar food and plenty of drinks, beer and wine to pick from - at least from the average drinker! Prices are pretty good too!

Always a great meal and good service. This month the Orange roughy (fried) on Friday is great and, as always, the soup is wonderful.

This is by far one of my favorite places to stop and have a beer ! The draft list is long , the beer is always cold . Wait staff are always super friendly ! Definitely a favorite hangout for me !

I visit this particular Winking Lizard one to two times a week. Why? They have a fantastic beer selection, they have most of the baseball, football, basketball, and MMA games on their many TVs, and I really like the atmosphere. Like I said, this is my go-to place for beer and a cool atmosphere. They always are bringing in new selections and it's a blast to try new flavors that you wouldn't normally find at most pubs or sport bars. Having a good beer selection isn't nearly enough though: the place has to have a good atmosphere and this location feels very comfortable and warm. I've been to other places where you walk in and it's a huge hall with robot-humanoids behind the counter. Having been here many times, I know most of the employees and they are all truly nice, personable people. I've NEVER had an experience where the wait staff was inattentive or rude. I've tried about half of the food on the menu (okay, maybe a bit less than half of their offerings) and it's always been excellent. I love wings and, thus far, this location has the best wings that I've come across in Columbus. I've only had one situation where they came out dry, the vast majority of the time, they're fantastic. I've seen quite a few reviews here speaking about the poor quality of food. Granted, I usually visit this location on the same days/time so perhaps the negative reviews are from people who are getting food from a different kitchen staff, but I can honestly say that the food is good. I typically sit at the bar, but there's plenty of seating; you can sit at small tables close to the bar or in a booth further away from the bar area. Seating is always comfortable. The only time you'll have a time finding a good seat is during a big game. Don't be surprised if this place is insanely packed during March Madness or during a Buckeyes game. This being said: I've never walked out because I couldn't find a seat - even during crazy game days/nights. They have a nice patio area too. During the summer time they open it completely up. It can sometimes be a bit dark on the patio (I had to put my menu directly under a lamp once to read it). The only thing to be aware of is that they do allow smoking out here, so if you don't like the occasional waft of smoke, you may want to stay inside. The Lizard isn't a pompous place either. No one is going to care whether you are wearing an expensive shirt or carrying the newest Coach purse here. My only gripes: they occasionally are out of particular beer and you won't know until you attempt to order it.

In town for a conference, lots of choices for food & drinks, but I like the local hot spots, and this place was hoppin! Tons of beer of tap, local & otherwise, and I hot the wings which were pretty good. I'd def come back!

I used to go to Winking Lizard on a consistent basis for at least 2yrs straight. It's been about 6mo since I've been. The food is crap, every dish, be it an entree to sandwich or wrap has been absolutely horrible. Hot food cold, over cooked or undercooked, forgotten sauces, or just wrong order. The service turned to crap just as the food has. I can only say one server was wonderful, unfortunately I don't know his name & I hope he's found something better by now, the larger gentleman knew his beer, always prompt, & always had a smile, even when short-staffed. The place is known for their variety of beers...if they haven't run out. Boyfriend had to go through SEVEN requests before they had the beer he wanted. Do not sign up for the beer tour. I did it 2yrs in a row, half the time they didn't count my beers, wrong beers or I never got my "gift". I've had at least 2 discussions with managers as to lack of service, the substandard food, lack of knowledge of the beer, & the inadequacies of the tour. I will not be voluntarily going back.

Okay, what's the deal with Winking Lizards and freezing cold women's restrooms? Every single one. Anyway, if you've been to a Winking Lizard, you know what you're getting here at Crosswoods. Lots of beers and a variety of food. This time around, I had the chorizo burrito off the winter menu. It was VERY good. Huge, so if you're on a diet you might want to skip it. But, it was damn tasty. We were sitting at a table near the bar and our server was quick and friendly despite the nutty location. All in all, not a bad joint. Don't be afraid of the construction around these parts, just choose your time wisely.

Artichoke dip was amazing! We all ordered fried food which was ok. Wish we would have ordered 2 artichoke dips! Service was good. Neat atmosphere. Apparel for sale was a good price.

Love the Winking Lizard. Drinks are a touch on the pricy side, but an excellent selection of beers. Also they have the best wings. Hit them on Monday or Tuesday for wing night. Get traditional, the boneless ones can be overdone.

This place is great. The food is amazing. I always get the wings. Can't go wrong with chicken and beer

I had always heard great things about this chain. They had an amazing beer selection with some specialty seasonals and hard to find beers like dogfish 61 minute. I got the spicy bbq wings and a small pizza because the price was right (50 cent wings and $5.49 for the za). They were both pretty average. I'd say the beer selection is the biggest draw for this place.

This is not a review about the food. This is not a review about the service. Well...kinda. This is not a review about the atmosphere. Well...kinda. This is a review about policy. This is a review for those who like to smoke cigars. Here's the review. The Winking Lizard sucks. Here's why: (Background) My wife and I are in the process of moving from Atlanta to the Columbus Ohio area for family reasons. We're staying at a local hotel so I can start my new job and until the house sells back in Powder Springs. The Winking Lizard looked like a nice place with a great patio for eating. We stopped there on our second night in town for drinks and appetizers. The service was great, the food was pretty good. While there, we noticed that someone was smoking a cigar in their smoking area. Great! We loved visiting cigar bars in ATL and Miami and thought...well...Miami it ain't (two picnic tables outside on the patio isn't a cigar bar but beggars can't be choosers) but at least we found a place we can go to relax, have a glass of single malt or cabernet and have a cigar! (The visit) We came back a week later and asked to be seated in the smoking area. We were told it wasn't available because it was full. "Yes it's available...there was only one couple ahead of us and there was no one sitting in the area 30 seconds ago when we walked in", I says. "Oh...sorry...let me check", they says. 5 minutes later, the area is suddenly available. Ok...no problem. We get seated, are waited on almost immediately (good job wait staff), we order our drinks (no scotch -- should have been a hint) and a appetizer. After the drinks arrive, I pull out my Rocky Patel, punch and light it up. A beautiful evening. A nice cigar. A not-scotch. Things are ok. Two minutes after I light my cigar some kid-manager comes up to the table and tells me that I can't smoke a cigar in the smoking area. I'm dumbfounded. Then I'm p***ed. "You're telling me that I can't smoke in the smoking area?", I asks. "Yes, sorry", he says. "First of all, this is a smoking area, right? Second, I've seen others smoking cigars in this area. So you're telling me that they can do this but I can't?", I say with clenched teeth. "Yeah, sorry", he says. What is this insanity? Has Ohio changed that much in the 14 years I've been gone or are the people who run The Winking Lizard just idiots. So, I won't be giving the Frickin' Gizzard any more business. Ever. If you smoke cigars, I suggest you do the same. If you don't, it's your call. If I ever inherit any money, I'm opening up a cigar bar in the Columbus area. Rocky Patel...any interest in opening up "Burn North"? :) P.S. I concur with some of the other reviews, btw. The music's too loud, the liquor selection is spotty, and the beer is hit or miss. But, I will say the patio's nice and the wait staff tries hard (except for managers for reasons I've already mentioned).

Winking lizard is good for their selection but the service is never my favorite. Tonight our waitress was no where to be found and I missed happy hour by 5min bc of this. Pretty frustrating. The food is okay-nothing really organic or gluten-free. I would go on 50cent wing night on Monday or Tuesday. 20 wings for $9-Talk about cheap! They have a fun beer tour so TONS of choices. Better than the bar next door for craft beer choices.

The beer selection was very good. There were no choices that were not available, as mentioned in other reviews, but we were there on Tuesday, possibly after a restocking from the weekend (that's how it works in my area, especially at the beer club sites). If you are looking for interesting beer selections, this is definitely worth serious consideration. As for the food, we were there for the wing special and took advantage of it. My wife and I both had the boneless wings. They were fairly small, but then again, they were boneless wings and not chicken tenders. I had the Magma sauce and it lived up to the description. I typically get the hottest sauce available and am often disappointed. Well... the Magma didn't have me sweating, but I could hardly swallow a few times. It is very hot and I liked it! Not only was it hot, but it actually had flavor. I would be very interested to try the Fire in the Hole sauce next time. We also had the house salad, which was crisp and good for a standard fare salad. As for the boys, they had the Pulled BBQ Chicken Melt and the Strip Steak Wrap. Both of the teenage boys agreed that the BBQ chicken was better, but they still liked the steak wrap. The server was prompt and attentive. She wasn't very versed on the beer selection. However, she made sure we were attended to well. We dined inside, since the outdoor seating was packed. If available, the outdoor seating would have been preferable, but we didn't want to wait. Overall, I'd go back for the beer, but not disappointed by the food. Just keep in mind this is fairly standard sports bar food.

Not a bad spot for dining solo at the bar. When I'm traveling for work I try to check out interesting, independent restaurants in other cities, but on this trip to Columbus I was exhausted after a long day in a windowless conference room and just needed a comfortable place to eat near my hotel. The Winking Lizard was the only non-chain in the development across the street from my hotel (I understand this is a small NW Ohio chain, but the others in the area were the types of places you find at every mall in the U.S.). It's a large, loud restaurant with a wide ranging menu of typical bar fare. The outdoor bar looked really inviting, but was unfortunately full. The bar inside had plenty of seating, and I was one of several patrons eating alone, which is always comforting when you're on your own. I had wings because it was "wing night," and they were perfectly good...not amazing but comparable with most decent sports bars. A lot of reviewers rave about the beer selection. They do offer a wide array of bottled and draft beers, but I was disappointed in the draft options. I expected more local, craft beers and was surprised to find only one tap dedicated to a Columbus brewery. Still, happy hour pricing and pleasant service made for a perfectly fine weeknight dinner.

Tasty food for a decent price. I had the bleu shroom burger cooked medium rare. It was delicious! Really cool that they actually have a pet iguana in the actual restaurant. Fits the theme! Fun environment but can get extremely loud and hard to hear. No one under 21 is allowed at night unless accompanied by an adult which is understandable due to the bar environment. There are a ton of TVs if you're interested in catching the game. Waitress seemed to be friendly and was upbeat.

Loud, loud, loud. I need to learn to stop coming here if I want to actually have a conversation. I am not sure if it is the music, or the room acoustics, or clientele, maybe something else. Every time I'm here with someone we end up shouting at each other. Maybe they need some strategically located sound baffling. I've been going to this or the Bethel Road Wink for many years. I used to come here for the good beer selection, but let's face it. With the popularity of craft beer in Columbus the way it is now, it really isn't all that special anymore. They need about 6-8 more taps and less domestics. The special beers always seem to be sold out and there are no growler sales. Also, on this most recent visit the service was bad and my appetizer took forever to arrive. Once it did, it was overcooked and unappealing. Usually the food is pretty good, so that was a disappointment.

I had the bacon cheeseburger and it was fantastic and the steak fries were very good as well. It was a little loud in the resturaunt and it was hard to hear others at my table but it was not unbearable.

Great location! Every time I go the staff is super friendly and fast about getting drinks and food orders out. Foods great, wonderful beer selection and amazing for watching a game and having fun with friends. Love the patio too in the summers!

This is an after work favorite. A nicer bar/restaurant. They have fabulous mixed drinks and good food....what more can you ask for. You really should try their loaded fries! The appetizers are great too!

Meh. Beer is cold but food is mediocre and service is far from good. Probably a good place to have a beer on the way home, but not much else.

Ok hit this place with my brother inlaws looking to have some wings and beer. Of course they both do not order wings... what's up with that? Anyway here's my breakdown of the place. 1. Wings... decent, not great but solid would order them again. They have several options and I didn't spicy garlic 2. Really good beer selection. They also have a mug special every month with a different beer and a stein to go with them. Again nice stein, good beer, great selection 3. Atmosphere... little cheesy but not terrible. Cookie cutter sports pub. The staff was great however which made it a nice afternoon. I would return.

Unfortunately this will be a short review- tried using this as a beers and study location and it worked out well. Great beers, great service and wi-fi. I know I will be back. Asked for a booth in the back. My friend got the Po-boy and chips and I got the ships. They are awesome super thick cut freshly made chips.

Unless you are a interested in listening to a jukebox on Sunday, during football season, go elsewhere for sports. They may have gobs of TV, but several requests had to be made in order to get any football on at 4pm (it is a Cleveland Browns bar, so yes that game was on in sound), and we were told that the jukebox was playing during the rest of the games. Servers were nice, slow but nice.

Mediocre Bar and Grill with a Nice Outdoor Area but Several Shortcomings I want to start by saying this place has everything it needs to be a great place but failed me multiple times on my visit. I will most likely not be going back but there is potential for greatness. The most important thing for a place that is set up like a Bar: Beer. I kid you not, the first 8 beers I chose from their extensive beer list were out. A Bar with a literal place mat filled with beer selections should not require the question "OK, what DO you have?" I eventually abandoned the seasonal beer list and went for a strange, seemingly overpriced imported bottle of Unfiltered Wheat Beer which was quite delicious. The food was predictable and not special. It was comparable to what you find at any normal Chain-style Bar / Grill. I had some Wings and they were, once again, fine. Tasty, but not special. The part that really got me: No TP in the bathroom stall. Thank goodness for the saving grace of the seat covers, which had to do. Also, no that is not TMI, it's ETRAOI (Exactly The Right Amount Of Information) because when you check first and save yourself the trouble, you will thank me. There were some redeeming qualities. The Outside Bar was Phenomenal. Truly great with a full bar, dedicated bartender, and Football on every TV. Like, all the football. Every Game that could be watched was on which was really nice for out-of-towners like myself or fantasy football enthusiasts. This place would be amazing for a cool summer night (if they had any of the beers I wanted.) Two Stars, One for the Sweet outside Bar, One for the great Football Selection on TV. No bonus stars given for the live Lizard inside, considering I'm not 7 and would have traded the lizard for a Draft Pumpkin Beer or Oktoberfest.

Always fun! We both finished the World Tour this year! Sunday's are still the best deal with pizza and wings for $13. It can be noisy, but free popcorn makes up for every thing. The tour is a great way to step out of your paradigm.

I've stopped into the Winking Lizard on a few occasions. The inside is a bit of a cave, but I'm reviewing their patio experience. They split the place inside and out between restaurant and bar areas. In the outside bar area, there is a bar and string of tables. It is up against the parking lot, but not obnoxiously so. There's TV over the bar, and since it faces West, there is decent light into the evenings in summer. The Lizard has a nice beer selection. Tons on tap. My last visit, I had a couple tasty Brooklyn Lagers. The glasses are clean and the drafts are fresh. What more do you want? Free popcorn? They have that too. Sounds pretty good? Well... Then there's the bathroom. On my visit, the bathroom smelled like a highway rest stop from the 80s. Verdict, come for the beer, sit outside, and take a deep breath before heading to the head.

pretzel was burned therefore somewhat tough for a soft p. Atmosphere was like a fridays with craft beer. Craft beer selection was good. Food marginal. Service slow and at times nonexistant.

This place has the BEST wings!!!!! Roosters has nothing on their wings. I love this place and will continue to dine here with my family. Great Service Great Food what's not to love. Some people complain about noise level but it's a sports bar what do you expect? You can't go to Roosters and have a quiet peaceful meal either so deal with it.

This place was the bee's knees, mainly because it was amazing enough to visit all three nights of the conference I was attending across the street. The Winking Lizard is a NE Ohio sports bar chain that has recently been expanding to other parts of the state, mainly Columbus. Being from Akron, I'm quite familiar with the chain and have been to multiple locations. This might be the best location I've been to. The actual location is not that great since it's in a suburban business center; however, it's conveniently located across the street from tons of hotels. The exterior is unique from the other locations and is surprisingly attractive. The wings here are top-notch. The quality of the breading and the meat just can't be beaten. The sauces overall aren't as tasty as The Lube's, but their Spicy Sesame can take any wing sauce head-to-head and win. Their Magma Sauce is not for the weak, although if I had a choice I'd prefer it over The Lube's Triple Atomic Wings because its...err...not as obscenely hot. The beer selection, for a chain, is the best around. Hands down. Even local establishments have problems competing with this restaurant's outstanding beer selection. I ordered a Lindemans Fromboise my first time to this location. It was extremely fruity and was absolutely delicious. I shotgunned it. Yes, it was that good. My only complaint is that it can get busy during conferences. I ordered wings and I'm pretty sure they were just sitting out for like 30 minutes. They weren't even that hot anymore. Bummer.

I came here because a friend of mine was in meetings all day and I was quite pleased with the food. I ordered a black bean burger which was superb the fries were also scrumptious. Staff was friendly and attentive!! I also liked the giant lizard in the glass cage I thought that made the vibe even cooler! I will definitely come back if I am ever in the area again it is a really neat place!!

The beer selection and accompanying World Of Beers Tour is great. The Paddles of 4 sampler beers really is a great, inexpensive noncommital way of trying new beers. The wings really are that good. Have I had better? yeah. But they are meaty, crispy, the sauces are good and the most important thing of all, not over sauced. I asked for a huge stack of napkins before the wings even came out assuming id be using one perwing was is usually the case a lot of wings places. But here, they were sauced just enough. The wait staff was knowledgable of the beers and very friendly.

My boyfriend and I decided to check this place out the other day, after driving by it many times. Being from Cleveland I have always heard of the Winking Lizard, but was under 21 when I lived there so I never went. I was really excited because people have always talked about it being a pretty hopping place. It. Was. Awesome! I love beer. It's for definitely second on the list of beverages I drink the most [to water.] Trying new kinds of beers is so much fun for me, so when I started looking at the placemat, I was in heaven. They have SOOOOOO many types of beer, on draft and in the bottles, it was insane. This is definitely the place for exploring new brews. Okay, besides my excitement about the beers, I have to say that the 'feel' of the restaurant is exactly what I like. I love a louder atmosphere with TV's playing the game and happy people getting loaded. It is super laid-back and low-maintenance. I loved it. So after choosing some beers to try we started looking at the menu, which is massive. It has something for everyone! What an awesome selection of food! We started with the southwestern egg rolls. Very tasty! It has a good dipping sauce and a nice spice. I had never had these anywhere before, and I have to say it was a solid choice. For food; we each got the BBQ Pulled Chicken Melt. Two words: THE SAUCE! The BBQ sauce at Winking Lizard is phenomenal. It is probably the best barbeque sauce I've ever had. This sandwich was super tasty. But we couldn't finish it! Too much beer! I honestly have no complaints about this place. I can't wait to go back! The prices were definitely comparable to any other sort of bar/grill. We spent about $55 including the tip after drinking four very potent beers, having appetizers, and each getting a meal. I need to learn about this "World Tour of Beers" that I keep hearing so much about! Someone's gotta fill me in!

I stopped by this charming place for lunch in April while on a business trip. They have a serious beer selection and lots of happy hour and daily specials. I had a great burger and nice conversation with the bartender. I asked her about pint glasses for sale and while they didn't have anything at the moment. She went to the back and got me a special glass that had been part of a promotion from a month or two before. It was super nice of her to do that and wrap it up for me since I was travelling. If I am back in town I will definitely stop in again. If I lived here this would be a great happy hour bar.

So, I had plans to meet a friend here for happy hour and I was actually looking forward to going for the great beer selection and wing special on Mondays. So, I'd say: Yeah, I'm a fan! They layout of this place isn't the best. (i.e.: not every seat is great for sports watching) Also, the restaurant is entirely too big for the amount of clientelle they have. But, the bar is big, they have lots on tap, service is friendly, prices are fair, and food is decent. They have drink of the month specials and food specials daily. It's just a good spot to go to meet up with friends and grab a drink and some grub and not go broke.

If you're going to this Winking Lizard, you're already deep in Columbus suburbia. As such, you might already be a little down on life, which I suspect explains some of the bad reviews here. Being from Cleveland, I knew what I was going to get at the Winking Lizard, it was a safe bet. None of the other chain bars and restaurants nearby excited me anyway. Yes, it's an Ohio chain in a part of town that's loaded with chain-everything. What else do you expect way out in suburbia? This isn't the best Winking Lizard location I've ever been to, but it gets the job done. I'm giving it an extra star for having Great Lakes Christmas Ale on tap on November 1st. I couldn't find a six-pack of the beer anywhere in Columbus, but could count on the Winking Lizard to have it.

  • Brian D.

A NE Ohio Chain that has been slowly expanding to other parts of the Buckeye State. Winking lizard has a large beer selection that is practically unmatched at any type of chain restaurant, and that's a good thing in my book. The service is friendly but not overly fast which is just okay. The food is average, Applebee's type but with a wide selection of Beers to help wash it down with a large bar, and ample televisions there are certainly worse places that you can go to.

Before heading to Wildlights at the zoo, a group of friends decided to grab a bite at the Winking Lizard in Powell. I forgot that Tuesday nights is 40 cent wing night, so we were all pleasantly surprised by the inexpensive option (the wing special in Monday and Tuesday, they have several other great specials other nights of the week). The boys each tried one of the many beers on tap. We were all impressed with the beer selection, there are quite a few and they are kind enough to let you know the type of beer and the alcohol content. Happy hour(4 to 7pm) is one dollar off any 22oz draft, which seems like a great deal as most of the drafts are around six dollars. We each ordered ten wings and went to town. It was quite messy, but an entertaining experience (prepare to wipe your face constantly). I particularly enjoyed the goldfinger and spicy sesame wing sauces. The one person who ordered boneless wings was slightly disappointed, she said that the wings were essentially chicken fingers and she couldn't taste the sauces. For the most part this is a bar with plenty of televisions to watch ESPN. There is a small eating area, cordoned off from the bar, and an outdoor patio. It is a great location for groups or after work happy hours, especially on wing or burger night.

    1. Beer selection is fantastic 2. Great wings, good pizza. The seasonal only chipotle ketchup is worth a visit by itself. Spicy Garlic sauce for wings is made everyday so sometimes it is very hot and other times very garlic. 3. Service is hit and miss. Some people are great, others clueless. And sometimes the great ones are just overloaded. We usually try to sit at the bar and that works well.

Nice selection of beer and decent American pub food. Monday and Tuesday are 50 cent wing nights, I was happy enough with the Thai wings, but the Caribbean was disappointing. Bar was loud but bars are supposed to be loud during playoff games, so this was acceptable. Nothing was excellent and nothing was awful, standard brew and burger type place.

I visited Winking Lizard Tavern last Tuesday for happy hour and had a semi-disappointing experience. I have been to the location on Bethel Rd. many times, and only the Hutchinson location a couple of times. This location is a stand alone with its own parking lot and patio. I believe it was formerly Dick Clark's American Bandstand Grill. The interior is spacious and casual. Multiple TV's but no really large screens, availabiltiy of private dining areas, and a pretty spacious patio with outside bar. I arrived around 5PM and took a seat at the bar. I hailed down a bartender who gave me a drink menu. I asked what beer specials were going on and was informed that all 22 oz. drafts were $1.00 off and Bud Light 32 oz. was on special for $4.50. The bartender informed me that the Bud Light 22 oz. was $3.65 a glass and was the better deal. The Bud Light 32 oz. is the better deal and that is what I ordered. I was never offered a food menu so I had to ask for one. Over the duration of the evening a sampled a few different appetizers. The food special on Monday and Tuesday is $.45 wings and $4.99 9" cheese pizza with $.50 extra for each topping. I sampled some deep-fried macaroni and cheese wedges. There appeared to be beer-battered and moist inside with macaroni and cheese goodness. My only disappointment was that the grease tasted old and needed to be changed. I sampled four different flavors of wings and ordered them well done. Flavors that I sampled included spicy garlic, thai, spicy sesame, and spicy BBQ. The first three sauces lightly coated the wings and were tossed. The spicy BBQ was not. I clump of BBQ sauce was poured over the wings on the plate like gravy. Too much and not evenly coated. Overall the wings were cooked all the way through but not really any more well done than a normal order. The last thing I sampled was a pepperoni pizza. Pretty good pizza for a sports bar with homemade dough and was baked to perfection with cheese over the pepperoni. Oddly enough though, the pizza at Winking Lizard Bethel Rd. tastes a little bit better. Overall my experience at Winking Lizard was just average. The bartenders offered unusually slow and bad service. Almost impossible to get my second beer. Food was pretty good, but not the best that I've had at a Winking Lizard. Will probably return based on convenience, pricing, atmosphere, and decent food. With better service I would have given four stars.

The food at the Lizard is pretty much average - no better or worse than a BW3 or similar chains. Their beer list, however, is a 5 star - maybe a 6! I have never been to a chain restaurant that features so many world and craft beers. My complaint, though, is the noise levels. I know it's a bar / sports bar, and they're going to be noisy, but it seems like every time I've been there, the juke boxes or live sports are turned up to ear-blasting levels, and just about every visit I've left with a splitting headache that had nothing to do with my alcohol consumption. On one occasion, I went with a group of friends, and the music was so loud we were shouting to hear ourselves talk at a 6 top table. We complained to our server, she went behind the bar and turned the volume down a bit so we could hear ourselves again, and the bar manager came out of the back, turned it back up (with a couple extra notches for good measure), and yelled at our waitress for turning the music down! Enjoy the beer, but bring earplugs if you want to sit down for more than a short visit.

Terrible service. I had to wait over 10 minutes for service at the bar while everyone else around us got seconds. This is my second bad experience here in a row. There are too many great restaurants in this neighborhood to waste your time at this one.

It's a fun place to meet up for happy hour specials. Good selection of beer, obviously, and fairly cheap prices. Their boneless wings are a good meal choice, haven't gotten anything else. The beer of the month is a cool addition, allowing you to keep the custom pint glass. Location and crowd leaves a little to be desired - seems to be mostly business people staying in adjacent hotels, at least whenever I've headed over. Overall , good place.

It looked terribly tacky once I walked in, but man am I glad the contents of the book did not match the cover. They have a phenomenal selection of beer and plenty of TVs all showing different games (which is great if you are not an OSU alum - boo all you want). They even do flights of beers. If you are looking for a beer or three and cannot make it closer into town, you would be well served to stop in. I did not even realize they were a chain!

Our 2 fantasy leagues went to the lizard to conduct two fantasy drafts. Half way through our first draft, the restaurant lost it's internet conection for about 3.5 hours. we were forced to draft with our smart phones, which made it a miserable experience. Add this to their bland-tasting wings, their 1 shot drinks, their over-priced beers & their filthy restrooms----well I can say, never again! DO NOT GO TO THE LIZARD TO CONDUCT YOUR FANTASY DRAFT!

I have had wings all over the US and have to say that the wings here were great. I had the garlic and the Cajun and both had good flavor. I travel on business and the word customer service is taken for granted in many places...not here. The staff behind the bar was great; Tiffany and Cara did a fantastic job. The one star deduction is for the black bean and sausage soup,...or should I say broth. There was , maybe, three small pieces of sausage, a few black beans, and a lot of salty broth. I will skip it next time.

Given their reputation for great wings, I was extremely disappointed when I ordered 5 boneless honey mustard wings on a Saturday evening. They took a long time and had obviously been sitting for a while as the sauce had dried on the outside. They were also the size of my thumbnail - tiny. I had to order another appetizer because I was still starving after I ate them.

I went here last night for a private party to cheer on the C-bus couple from AEP that is on the amazing race. It was cool but I only watched about 5 seconds because it was love at first sight when I saw the list of drafts, I am also considering a tawdry affair with the list of bottled brew. I'm the kind of girl that carries a beer lover's rating guide in her purse and recently dropped $16 on four bottles of dogfish head palo santo. I've only ever seen and had this almighty brew on tap at the source. I was seriously considering DE for my next move. No more. I will just quit my job and live in my car in the winking lizard parking lot. I'm glad I spent my last $10 on the world of beer tour so I will have a jacket to keep me warm.

Love the boneless wings, love the beer selection, love the Sunday "Large 2-Topping Pizza and 12 Wings" deal. The Caribbean sauce is my favorite non-traditional wing sauce. Service has been a little slow once or twice when we've gone there (generally as a party of two), but never to the point of being genuinely troublesome. Winking Lizard remains our go-to "beer-and-wings" place.

I have been going to the Winking Lizard for over 4 years and they hire some of the most entertaining people that bartend. They are very knowledgeable and are very good are recommending beers that you may like. Watching sporting events at this location is amazing, the bar is lined with flat-screen televisions. If you are there on a busy sports night, you area almost guaranteed that the game you want to watch is in front of you somewhere. I would give them 5 stars, but I am not a huge fan of their food. If they would just put as much effort on their food as their beer selection, this place would be top-notch. I still recommend this location of the Winking Lizard to watch any sporting event.

Was staying at hotel across the street - decided to check it out. Told to take any table I wanted. Within a few minutes Jen the waitress came by, asked if I wanted popcorn, told me about all the beer specials. Was eating healthy so had a glass of red wine and grilled chicken garden salad. Both came swiftly. Salad was fresh & tasty. Yes, it's loud but what sports bar isn't? Got to watch my team play, have a decent meal, etc.

A few years ago they had above average food to go with their huge beer selection-a nice, big sports bar. But last night, i had my second disappointing experience in a couple of months, and i won't be back. Warm draft beer, terrible bread for the po' boys, fake shrimp made with god knows what and undercooked, cold fries.

The beer list is good, and the cheese pizza with jalapenos is my recommendation. It's not the best place ever but for a sports bar, this place is alright. It gets points for the beer drinking contests.

Oh, the Winking Lizard. I agree with my friend who texted me after I checked in here on various mobile social networking devices: "Winking Lizard sounds so dirty. Like it should be in the Monty Python penis song." And thus I have been reluctant to review the Lizard, even though I have been here numerous times with various friends over the last year and a half-ish. Why oh why is a place with a decent bar menu, great service, and an over-the-top selection of craft beers called the Winking... Lizard? What does that even mean? I think my experience here last night probably sums up this anomaly... My lovely friend ordered me a beer in advance of my arrival. She texted me, "want a drink?" and while I was stuck in rush hour traffic on N. High Street (yay), I wrote back, "yeah! brown ale, no oatmeals..." or something to that effect. When I arrived, our server had given me a Sierra Nevada brown... I didn't even know that EXISTED, and I was duly impressed with his ability to psychically pick a beer that I loved. For dinner, we shared a personal sized white pizza (delish, tasted like breadsticks... and if you know me, you know I don't eat pizza at all, so...). Ladyfriend got a huge salad and I got the Maui Maui chicken sammie... which was nothing to write home about. I ate the pineapple and most of the side of brocolli, but the bbq sauce smothered chicken was dry. I also ended up getting the beer of the month (yay free glass!) which was a pumpkin ale... YUM. It came rimmed (haaa) in brown sugar.... excellent idea. Importantly, all throughout dinner, these two businessmen from Arizona were creepin' on us. This has to be part of the whole "winking lizard" mystique. I ended up giving them some of my free tix to Kahoots (ya'll know me...) and they tried to get us to come with them - ha ha HA but only if we "put out." Yup folks, it's that type-a place! We paid our checked and hustled outta there. Midwestern friendliness ftw!

I don't see why Ohio is so enamored with this place. It's basically a TGI-Fridays with a better beer list. You've got to deal with a dozen HDTVs with sports, children and babies running around and making noise and an atmosphere that could only be made more unpleasant by trying to model McDonalds. Sure, they are all over Ohio, and you can find one anywhere- but that's true with Herpes too and it barely sounds like an advantage to me. The beer list is deceptive. At first you'll think, "Oh wow, this is great" but is really isn't. There's nothing uncommon on there and they are overpriced for what they are. The food isn't worth detailing, because its boring, predictable and greasy. Their hottest hot wings are really just mild wings covered with weaksauce. I'll never suggest to friends that we go here, yet people keep suggesting it to me. Oh what poor taste people in Ohio have at times. No self respecting person in NYC would ever suggest that you go somewhere like this.

this place has good beer and sauses, the lizard is kind of scary (I feel like I'm in Jurassic park when I'm there LOL) but I got really sick last time I ate there all I got was cottage cheese for an appetizer and I replaced both my sides with cottage cheese, then got cottage cheese on my chicken snadwich instead of Swiss bc they were out. overall everything was really good despite the sickness and the cottage cheese i got for takeout for my dog Avon BARKSdale made him gassy. other than that the service was exsellent and I read the newspaper over the bafthrom which had a very helpful article about the horse contaminated beef crisis. glad i substituted for my burger!!!

came back here for a non-private event and the service was terrible. I had one beer, and would have had another except the waitress never came by again except to ask if I wanted my bill. Okay, fine then. Food is still mediocre at best. Applebees still comes to mind. Draft list is long, but no longer than most of the local bars here. Again, I don't even look at bottle lists so I'm probably missing out. Also, if I'm going to drink, I don't want children around. This Winking Lizard doesn't card you on your way in, and there are dozens of kids around. No thanks. It's not particularly convenient for me to go out here anyway, unless I want to drunk drive. So I'll just walk to one of the local bars in my neighborhood, which will be better anyway.

They have a million different beers, and mediocre food. It's good for a chain, but it certainly has never blown my face off. If you like a ginourmous selection of beers at your disposal, loads of tv with sports, and tables full of "bros" you will be in heaven. It's not my thing, but it's worth checking out so you can decide for yourself.

A very cool bar. Or sportsbar, actually. They've got everything including large (very!) TV's and they're all over the place. They've also got food that's not too shabby and they have great servers. I had a BBQ sandwich which was served on an oversized sub bun and a side order of cottage cheese. That's the other nice thing, they have a lot of sides to choose from. Anyway, great restaurant!

If you're going to have a great beer list, keep it stocked, or mark off the ones you don't have. That way it doesn't take the waitress 45 minutes and 5 attempts to find a beer on the list that IS in stock. Food is good but over priced compared to other beer/food hangouts. This location pales to the two that I visited when I lived up in Cleveland, it's a shame people in columbus don't get a real impression of the potential this chain has.

Great sports bar, not the best menu for a picky eater. It's missing the little extras that make a meal quality. Knowing that, strap on your bar food belly and peruse the 100 beers available to you! Winking Lizard is pretty unique, not only by offering 100 different types of beers but because of the consumption contest. It's not what you think. It's not how many beers you can chug in 5 minutes, but rather how many you can try in a year. 50 different beer awards you a long sleeve t-shirt, and with 100 different orders, you win a Jacket. It's actually a really clever marketing scheme. I commend them for this! It's not convenient of realistic for me to participate in either the 50 or 100 tour, but it certainly is fun to try something new like the Flying Dog in Heat Wheat, or the Jolly Pumpkin Calabaza Blanca.

This is a fun place to go if you like trying beers that are a little less mainstream. They have a decent selection of beer and a pretty good menu. The burgers and boneless wings are very good. They also have ski ball and a jukebox.

I have been a long time customer of this place for years now. Have read the negative reviews below - I don't get it. The place has probably the best beer selection around - very rarely has a beer (that I wanted) been out of stock. The few times it has happened - I just use it as an excuse to try new beers and I have found some great new beers. The food is good. It's not totally awesome or superb - but this is a bar, people. Their wings are especially tasty - I also recommend the loaded chicken nachos. I have never had a problem with the wait staff at all. They have always been courteous and prompt with their service. Maybe they dont have massive TVs all over the place - they do have a good amount of HDTVs around the bar area and a few other TVs elsewhere, but it is still a good place to watch your favorite sports on TV. Overall - I DO recommend this place.

I managed to dine here twice during a three-day business trip, so I guess I didn't think it was bad. Over the course of my trip I had french fries, a cheese quesadilla, a wedge salad and a grilled cheese with bacon and tomato. I thought the grilled cheese was awesome. The bread was thick and grilled golden brown, so it had this soft crispiness -- cooked perfectly and it just made the whole sandwich good. Cheese quesadilla wasn't bad -- the salsa tasted like some generic jar salsa but otherwise it was good. I asked for blue cheese dressing with my wedge salad and the dressing was severely lacking. It almost seemed as if they put actual blue cheese chunks and no dressing on it, which was not what I was looking for. The fries were typical but tasty. I would add that their barbecue sauce was awesome. It tasted like maybe it had some mustard seeds in it, which gave it a nice kick, but it was still sweet. I really liked it. Overall, I'd eat here again. It was loud inside and had a boisterous, fun sort of atmosphere. Looked like it would be a great place to hang out for drinks, but I got my food to go. The restaurant name is weird, but the food and service were good.

I have been going to winking lizard since there was only one, about 18+ years ago, so it brings back a lot of good memories growing ip, so I guess I am a little biased for it, but I am admitting it up front. If I came for the first time, might be a three, unless you happen to be looking for an amazing beer selection. The food is pretty standard for any bar, but they do have really good specials, burgers, pizza, and ribs all have a night where they are a couple bucks off at least. Nothing here is really bad, but nothing spectacular either. If you are looking for a pretty busy bar in the area, it's your best bet outside the Polaris area.

Passing thru and this place was near the hotel. Looked like it might be fun- but then I met my waitress. I felt like I was really imposing on her evening. I waited a long time to order and when she finally did take my order she asked if I wanted to order. I wait and wait and she asks do I want to order? She really made me feel unwelcome with my ice tea and bacon burger. I tried something called 'Phred Fries - fries covered with cheese and bacon. What they turned out to be was fries covered in cheese sauce which made them almost unpalatable. The burger was ok. Maybe I should have gone to chipotle

I come to this place with old friends every time I am in town. The Winking Lizard has a special place in my heart, so I may be a little biased, however, they do have decent food here, and the beer selection is excellent. Well, let me clarify that... The beer on the beer list is excellent. They actually have very few good options on tap. Summary: Come here to have a few beers with your old college buddies. Oh... and go look at the actual lizard.

How can you not love a bar that has over 150+ beers on the menu! It was nice that every time I have been there I was with someone who is over half done with the Beer World Tour (100 beers in the span of the year) so he was able to recommend beers. If you are looking to try new beers I HIGHLY recommend the Winking Lizard. Their food is good for bar food and their boneless wings are actually cheaper than their normal wings and on Monday and Tuesday they are $0.35 per wing. All in all if you like beer and wings check it out.

Ive been to this winking lizard a few times, and this a great place to watch whatever game you want to watch. They always have a great draft special, but could accommodate most beer requests, as they have quite the selection on hand. The food selection is typical of a chain bar and grill. I've only eaten the appetizers, which are average. The great thing about the Lizard is the popcorn machine. And endless supply of hot popcorn goes along way when you are waiting on friends to watch the game. The wait staff in the bar area are pretty attentive. I didn't find myself waiting very long to have my beverages filled. The parking lot is pretty large, and I haven't had issues finding parking.

The evening started off really well with a great server who was very attentive. However, the group I was with cashed out to sit on the patio and it went sharply downhill from there. The new server took our drink orders, but after that, failed to even ask if we would like anything else. Additional people joined our group, but she didn't bother to come over. We tried several times to get her attention and it took someone going up to her where she was hanging out at the bar to even get the bill in order to leave. She actually high-fived the other employee she was talking to as we got up to leave. This is the last time I will ever go to Winking Lizard. Worst service I've ever had!

Came here with a large group on a weekday. We were from out of town and wanted to find a local bar close to hotel for some drinks. To our surprise this place was nothing like a tavern. More like your neighborhood applebees. However they had a great beer selection. I'm not big on beer but since it was their specialty I decided to order one. I hade their garden hoe beer which was what they recommended for something similar to blue moon. It was vey tasty, my husband had a raging bitch which was an IPA. We did not eat there but after several beers decided to order food back to the hotel. By the way their menu had lots of food specials. We ordered a slab of ribs which was on special ($8) so it was not for take out but our waiter was nice enough to make an exception. The ribs were very tender and flavorful. It came with fries and colesole which I didn't care for.

This place gets 5 stars for the great times we had here. When I tell you this story, I'm sure you'll agree. One of our dear friends passed away at an early age. He used to work at Winking Lizard a few years prior to his passing, so some of the staff there had known him, too. After the funeral, we had a huge party in the restaurant in his honor. (Regular customers were also there) There were very many of us, but Winking Lizard accommodated us and really went above and beyond, and you could tell that part of it was that some of the staff knew him, but also because they were compassionate to why we were there. We had appetizers and drinks and there were so many of us that they just kind of gave us a whole corner of the dining room. They actually gave us some of the appetizers and drinks on the house. It was really great how they took care of us there. They let us stay as long as we needed and some of the servers even took pictures for us, especially a big group picture that everyone was in and is special to all of us. They had to take quite a bit because everyone wanted one on their cameras, but they were quite patient. A year after that, we went back for an anniversary party in memory of our friend. We reserved the back room and they were just as accommodating again! They provided us with a buffet and kept the drinks flowing. One of the servers even recognized me from last year, handed me a tall beer, and said, "This is on the house." So, so great. These people are so friendly and sweet. For that alone, I'll always love this place. But now I'll try to step back and be a little objective. It's a sports bar. The location is up just north of 270 so it's pretty easy to get to. The parking lot has plenty of space. Upon walking inside, you'll see it's pretty decorative, and each restaurant has its own signature lizard (or two) in a cage. I really like this. Some people who don't like reptiles might not. But no worries! They can't get you. And they're cute! I think it gives the place character. You can sit at a table, booth or at the bar. I've been here under normal circumstances several times, so I've done all three. I think there food here is pretty good. They have wings, sandwiches, burgers, stuff like that, but it's a little better quality than your typical bar food. It is actually a good place to come to eat even if you skip the bar altogether, but it is a little expensive for bar style food. It is usually cheaper for lunch than dinner. Their spinach and artichoke dip is so creamy and savory. Their wings are pretty good, but I've had better elsewhere. But they do come in many different flavors of sauce that range in spiciness. The Breaded Cheese Ravioli is awesome - I love them! One time I got the Cajun Chicken Wrap. It's chicken strips with cajun seasoning veggies and cheese. Nothing special, but it was good and it came with fries. I've also tried their Buffalo Chicken Salad, your typical salad with buffalo chicken on top. Basic, but still good. There are also seasonal food specials, so the menu changes from time to time. But the beers are what Winking Lizard is famous for. Most specifically their World Beer Tour. If you sign up for it, you are given a list. This list includes over 150 beers from all over the world. Beers you can't find anywhere else nearby! The goal is to try to drink as many as you can, and if you try 100, you get a signature jacket to wear with pride. It's pretty cool because they check off each kind you try and a lot of times you can get the beers in signature glasses that you can keep. A lot of times they also have specials on these beers. I think it's only like $10 to sign up. Some people really get into this and it's really cool. It's a unique thing that you can't do at other bars, and it really encourages you to come back. If you love trying new beers, check this out. (You don't have to be a part of the beer tour to try any of their beers.) And if beer isn't your thing, they serve all kinds of drinks and even make up their own mixed cocktails. There are always seasonal mixed drinks that change, too. There's also a shot of the month, which is usually cheaper. I think sometimes if you get the shot of the month you get to keep the Winking Lizard shot glass it comes in, so then it might cost a little more. The drink prices are pretty typical of anywhere else in the area. If you do buy a glass with your drink, they will clean it and wrap it up for you in a paper bag. And the glasses are different with each new drink so if you wanted to start a collection, you could! The bathrooms are very clean and always well-stocked. There is a nice little patio so during the warmer months you can sit outside. The place is pretty big so there's plenty of room so big parties are not a problem. And the service, as I mentioned, is really great, even when you're just there to grab some lunch. If you want a cool venue to host a party or just looking for a way to try some new beers, this is the place.

In town for some meetings and training and this sports bar was recommended by the locals. It is a good place to grab a beer and watch the game, but the food is really only fair. Overall not a bad place, it was better than sitting in the hotel room.

growing up in cleveland, the winking lizard was always just somewhere to go where you knew the food would be decent, the wings would flow like wine, and there were so many beers on the world tour i got dizzy just looking at them. while it is only a three star for me, a c student if you will, i can't knock the winking lizard, even if the columbus location i went to seemed to lack the divey, cleveland-y vibe of the ones i am used to back home. good beers, okay food, and a million televisions to watch whatever game your little heart desires - which, in this town, means buckeyes. this time i had the nachos (okay), a bacon cheeseburger (okay) and fries (good) along with the seasonal great lakes on tap (nosferatu.) the service was attentive, almost too attentive, but nothing to complain about honestly. overall it was an okay experience, even though i did miss the wings. (damn it.)

A great place to hang out. Moderately priced. The food is decent and there is TONS of beer.

I LOVE THE LIZARD! Best beers from around the planet and I've never had a meal there that I haven't liked. I recommend the Buffalo Chicken Wrap.
