On a night in Polaris, my boyfriend and I stopped in here after a walk through the mall for a drink. We made our way through the very British-ly decorated pub over to the central bar. I really liked the multi-level setup with raised platforms for some of the booths, really taking advantage of the enormous space. It took a while for our aloof bartender to take our drink orders, and only saw her briefly throughout our time there, despite the place being mostly empty. My cider was pretty good, and they had a fair selection. However, seeing every bartender except ours when our drinks were empty and we were ready to close out for fifteen minutes left a pretty bad taste in my mouth. I was disappointed because I loved the atmosphere, but the vibe from the staff wasn't all that welcoming.

The decor is wonderful and seemingly authentic. The food is good, the appetizers are great. The BBQ crisps are wonderful. Their beer selection constantly changes (good) but their draft selection seems to have dwindled recently (bad).

Just had drinks; pretty good selection and great service!

My significant other and I have been to this place a good handful of times and we've consistently had delicious food and a good time. Last time we were there we sat at the bar and we were completely ignored by our waitress (which looking at the other reviews seems like a common thing). I suggest if you go, get a table. We've had nothing but great service at the tables. They have the best fish and chips that I've personally had. Their Lamb burger with the apple cranberry chutney is just mouth watering. Bangers and mash are great. I haven't had one thing on their menu I haven't liked.

Nice non smoking patio with plenty of seating. Really wobbly tables. HORRIBLE service. Get your own drink before you are seated. Be bold enough to flag a server down for anything. They will probably deliver your food and drinks to the wrong table first before it finds its way to you at your wobbly table. Gouda and chicken pasta was watery. Didn't come close to meeting expectations Fish and chips: amazing. I will crave this. Is this A Ok or Meh, I've had better? The patio and fish saved it.

My parents where visiting and my dad really enjoys British themes so I thought he would enjoy this place. The first thing I thought when I walked in was how loud it was. It was around 10pm and felt like they were having a party versus it being a restaurant. The loudness didn't bother me so much, but did make it more difficult for my party to hear each other. The place was full, but not full enough to attribute to the loudness. Our server came over quickly and asked us if we were ready to order. They have a great beer menu! Because of the many options they have we weren't ready the first time around. He left for a couple of minutes, but came back efficiently enough that we didn't have to wonder if he was coming back ever. He recommended the Queen Velvet and said it was their most popular layered beer which my dad ordered. I honestly don't know what I got. It was one of their specials. All I heard was milk stout/chocolate beer and I was sold. My mom ordered a Reisling that she really enjoyed and made a note of it so she could remember to order it again. We shared an appetizer. The goat cheese with marinara on top and almonds. My parents love all different kinds of cheeses and the almonds intrigued me. The goat cheese was lacking the part that actually makes it taste like goat cheese. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and say there was some goat cheese in the dish. It was mostly more comparable to melted cream cheese, with a dollop of marinara and sprinkling of almonds. Not bad necessarily but couldn't write it off as good. Passable. The pita bread that the dip came with was served warm which is always enjoyable. All the servers are wearing kilts, the service was friendly. The atmosphere was relaxing. I probably wouldn't go back for the food or just set my expectations low. Then I would be mad about the money wasted on mediocre food. The beer menu is definitely worth going back for. Since my dad picked up the bill probably contributes to my four star because I enjoyed spending time with them, or I would have been more upset about my lack of goat cheese.

Got the Ruben sandwich and it was pretty good. Not the greatest but not the worst either. The pub is a great place for beers and a good scotch but if you are looking for best quality food items there are better places. My review is not negative because I know I am eating at a pub and not a 5 star restaurant. it's a great place for an affordable lunch and a great beer while the wife shops.

The Pub Polaris is the go to place I have for an amazing scotch egg! They also have legit ciders (Magners) to compete with the poor Angry Orchard and Strongbow. Pub wise, in Columbus, they are also one of the only ones to have brown sauce! My only complaint is a recent change to a one page menu. It helps narrow it down, but I lose a little with the substitution of American staples. I will continue to go, simply for that amazing scotch egg.

Got the Fish and Chips with the Mrs. Food was great and our server Shon Wolf was fantastic. We'll be back, soon. Lots of fun.

Great place to hang out with you friends over a drink. Tried their fried pickle and coffee beer, the fried pickles aren't sliced so becareful they are steaming hot! Also, the space is huge but noise level is pretty high.

I stopped here on my last night in town looking for a lighter atmosphere and some good beer. I ordered the half and half to drink, which was poured perfectly, and the traditional burger belhaven style. I was glad they included a fried pickle as I was wishing I could have ordered them, but couldn't eat them all alone. The burger was really good, but you've got to be in the mood for a heavy meal with lots of meat and cheese to enjoy this style. Since I was born in Wisconsin, this tasted like home. The chips (American fries) were the best I've had in a very long time. My server was truly fun, she would spend as much time as you needed explaining beers (10 minutes at the table next to me) and she was present when I needed anything. My only disappointment was the dessert I took to go. I really don't recommend you do this, since they have to deconstruct it to make it travel, which melts the cold stuff and hardens the warm stuff. I think the Jamaican cheesecake would have been epic if I'd eaten it there. I'm so glad to be coming back to Columbus in a couple weeks so I can try more things here!

I was only here for a few drinks as I met some friends for a little bit. I would enjoy coming back for dinner. The place was very nice inside, roomie and spacious, with a nice larger bar. Beer selections were wonderful and good friendly service.

I really enjoy the pub. It has one of my favorite menu items in the columbus area -- bacon-wrapped dates stuffed with seasoned goat cheese, roasted to perfection. Their bangers and mash, as well as their shepherd's pie, are both delicious as well. Also their turkey rachel (think Reuben with turkey) is a light favorite. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside. Amazing wood bar with cute, euro kitschy decor. Plus, all of the servers wear kilts...so there's that to talk about. The only unfortunate thing is the price relates to the portion sizes. You're shelling out quite a bit to still leave a little hungry.

It's all about the Speckled Hen and Scotch Eggs, baby! The bartenders there are always fantastic folk. Super friendly, and generally smart and witty. Do yourself a favor....get some friends together and go on a Sunday morning for Bloody Marys, brews, shots, and scotch eggs.

Hit this place because the Cheesecake Factory had a 2 1/2 hour wait. I am glad they did. Good food, service and beer. I tried a couple different drafts. We had the spring rolls for an appetizer and really liked them. I had Shepard's Pie and my wife had the Gouda Cheese Pasta. Both of us were thrilled with our choices. The waiter was very friendly. First time here; we will be back.

The fish and chips with Haddick are very delicious. I have also tried and I recommend the shepherds pie.

The food is sub par, at best, compared to other locations I have been to (within the same franchise.) The food is not comparable in size nor quality, to say the least. Drinks are very inconsistent from bartender to bartender. Management seems to care VERY little. Two stars instead of one star because one of my very good friends (INCREDIBLE waitress/hostess) works here. Once she leaves, I will not be a patron of this location any longer.

Went with my wife and daughter Sunday afternoon. Our first time there. We were seated promptly. We liked the British-Pub atmosphere. Extensive beer selection including many craft beers both foreign and domestic, with an emphasis on British/Irish/Scottish. Had a sampler of 4 beers (5oz. each for 5.95). They also offer a single malt scotch sampler of 3 for 16.95. Based on the waiters recommendation had the bbq bacon burger and I was not disappointed. It came with fries (called chips) and a deep fried pickle, no complaints with either. Wife and daughter also liked the food. However when I tried to order Scotch eggs I was told they were out, and for dessert when I wanted the bread pudding they were out of that too. Perhaps the egg shortage I read about in the news has something to do with that. I would like to go back again, but will likely call ahead to see if they have scotch eggs and bread pudding.

As always, I come for the ambiance, impressive array of brews, really good food, and a friendly, professional staff. It has a Cheers kind of vibe to it, you know, where everyone knows your name.

Fish and Chips. I love fish and chips. There are a number of establishments that feature this item, and many are quite good. None, however are in the same league as the fish and chips at The Pub. The portion size was huge - easily enough to share - (although I didn't) the fish had a wonder flavor that was firm and hot. The batter coating was sensational. Golden, crispy and lightly seasoned. Great beer selection, great prices, The Pub is now first on my list.

  • Matthew L.

The beer is as good as always, the food still solid to above, and the service normally solid though not what it once was. The Scotch egg is still available, great app, and their calamri is hands down the best in town (great sauce, texture, the whole deal), and the cheese bollocks - ahh, the cheese bollocks. Unhealthy as all get out, and just as good. The bangers and mash is a great meal, quite filling and great tastes, blending and mixing fantastically. The lamb burger CAN be grand when cooked proper, but beware they've been known to overcook it on occasion, so cut into it before keeping it. They've unfortunately done away with the cranberry chutney on top of it, but still a great sangwich. Their homemade crisps are a fantastic side, never disappointing, as are the tabasco straws.

One of the few British inspired pubs in Columbus. Waiters sport some kilts. Good beer selection with good Irish, English, American brews. Fish and chips is good but not great. English pot roast is very tender and comforting of a meal, i enjoyed it. They have lamb burgers here as well! Their fries are thick cut which i like but some others may not, and they also offer pretzel bread beer cheese as well as onion rings.

    (4)
  • Amy K.

This place was really neat inside. The beer menu is huge. I had a ham and cheese pretzel sandwich and it was tasty. I award it four stars because although all those things were pretty good, the service was just okay and we were there when it was basically empty. I would be interested in trying more menu items.

"God save our gracious Queen Long Live our Noble Queen God Save the Queen Send Her Victorious Happy and Glorious Long to reign over us God Save the Queen" Verse one for you. You probably didn't know there are five other verses too. Take that to trivia night, with my compliments, of course. And now, my review: Ahhhh The Pub. One of England's gifts to the world meets Disney. We Americans love to Americanize everything till there's little life or soul in these poor imports don't we? Think "Chinese" food that people in China would go WTF is this? "Mexican" food that Mexicans ask what this is sh*t? And so on. Here's an English pub where everything is covered with posters of The Beatles, The Stones and pictures of the Queen and the employees are dressed in kilts. Yeah, that's authentic isn't it? I'm surprised that they don't have someone outside dressed up as the Queen waving people in like that tax place does with the "Statue of Liberty". I hope this doesn't give them any ideas..... So, as long as you realize this is corporate America's version of an English pub ie, let's make $$$$ off a great thing, then you'll be OK with this place. The food is good but not great except for the fish and chips....awesome everytime. Beer selection is also a big selling point with these folks. They've got a good representation of beers / ales from the British Isles. Service is the usual corporate schlock. It's usually pretty good but never over the top. It can be a bit loud in here so if you don't like noise, come at an off time. I like it for what it is but would love to find a more "real" English pub here in Cbus.

  • Stephanie P.

This is pretty much what you expect from a British-style pub. I've eaten here before and it was pretty good for pub food, not great but solid. The beer list isn't the biggest in town but they've chosen wisely and there are very few poor options on the list. And the cocktail menu is lovely... any place that makes a good Pimm's cup is tops with me. So, all-in-all, come for the beer but stay for the scenery.

TL;DR Pub has lost its appeal, probably won't be back after last visit. Typically The Pub is just OK. However, after last Friday I'll be hard pressed to come back. A bunch of us routinely reserve the Tap Table mainly for the novelty of it. On Friday we were informed that another group reserved the Table in a few hours behind our reservation after our arrival. When we reserve the table it is well in advance and with the expectation that we will be using the table for the entire night. So we were informed we had to be ready to leave by 10. Our crew was small this night, only 6 showed up, so we did feel a bit pushed out. Had our usual numbers came out it would have been a very big problem. On top of this, a waitress kept coming to our table to fill glasses from our tap since a bar tap was busted. This left some of our group miffed and concerned that the deduction from our bill would not be actuate. Even though by the end of the night the ounces were deducted it was annoying. We probably will be looking for a new gathering place.

Loved this place. Staff was great, friendly and very knowledgeable in all things. Atmosphere and decor is great! The food is as good as previous reviews indicate. Fish 'n chips was delicious. Other members of group had pot roast and chicken. Those were given the thumbs up as well. I've not had a Guinness this good since I was in the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin, Ireland! I will definitely come back here!

The first thing you should know is this is not an British Pub. This is an American mall version of an British Pub. So it is bigger, louder, dumber and (in its defense) a lot cleaner than any version it sets out to emulate. As others have mentioned, it is kind of like a Disney amusement park version of an British Pub. Various English Premier League logos and flags are displayed prominently, as are the logos of british and european beers and whiskeys. Perhaps more so than you would see in the real version. The servers all wear kilts--which is actually Scottish (and, to a lesser extent, Irish) traditional dress. So, a muddled message in execution of concept. On the other hand, they have a lot of modern, customer friendly, conveniences like flat screen tv's and wifi. They even have tables with built in beer taps--an interesting, but potentially disastrous idea given that most of the patrons will likely try to drive home from this suburban location. All things considered though, this was a fun place to spend an evening on St. Patrick's Day weekend. They had a couple of good bands booked and, with a boisterous, inebriated crowd, I think a good time was had by all. Service was a little spotty, but that was probably due to the sheer volume of business they were doing on a busy weekend. I'd be interested to see how the service is on an average day. As others have mentioned, the Kentucky Bourbon Ale is awesome. Give it a try if you go.

Where to begin? Rude, incompetent server as well as saltiest, lukewarm patty of pink slime. Ridiculous. And overcharged me for a drink.

Went in there on a recommendation from my hotel. Sat at the bar, bartender was great & attentive. Ordered a Belhaven beer & the belhaven burger (recommended by the bartender). Burger was cooked to perfection, and the beer selection was solid. If you are looking for a beer & burger in Polaris area, this is the place to go

I used to go there every Friday Night. They have a great crowd there usually and sometimes a live band. I recommend the Fish and Chips - it is quite yummy. The Beer - there are so many flavors. If you think you will be a regular - start your passport (I have completed mine) an work toward it. You will end up trying new beers that you may or may not like. A couple of drinks I was introduced to - Guinness and Black Currant, Guinness and Strong Bow Cider. Where can you go wrong when everyone wears kilts and they have a great tap table that you must reserve. Enjoy

I come to The Pub Polaris so often, and have been for so long, I figured I should give it some Yelp love! I love The Pub. I frequently go there on my own, and it's always my first suggestion when I have visitors from out of town and want some food & drinks. It's also my first suggestion for dates, dinner with the parents, drinks with friends ... basically, if you want to hang out with me outside of my home, you're going to The Pub and you're going to like it. They have a wide selection of beer, something for every taste. They also have a nice selection of scotch (yum). Even if you're a frequent visitor, you'll never run out of new things to try with their rotating cask selections. Their food is very good as well. I've sampled just about everything on the menu, and have enjoyed just about all of it. The only menu item I would warn you away from is the steak, it's not their strong point. For me, their menu highlights are the lamb burger and the fish & chips. I usually get one of these two things when I go. Their fish & chips is fantastic: fried to perfection, seasoned well, and not the least bit soggy or greasy. It's honestly the best I've had in Columbus, and considering our fair city's vast array of English and Irish pubs, that's saying something. I've seen complaints about the service in other reviews, but personally, I've never had an issue. I have sat at the bar, at the indoor tables, and at the patio tables, all on numerous occasions, and haven't noticed any huge problems with the service. They are very busy at times, but still manage to keep up with their customers well. The bartenders are always pleasant and good at checking in to see if you'd like another beverage in a timely manner. Speaking of the patio, the patio is awesome!! When the weather is warm, there's nothing better than sitting out there and having a nice meal & brew while people-watching or enjoying some free entertainment, courtesy of one of the bands that are often playing in the square during the summer, right there across from the patio. (You can also smoke out there, if you're an evil smoker like myself) I think my favorite thing about The Pub is that it seems to attract a bit of a more high-brow clientele than most bars. I've never had to contend with creepy guys trolling the bar, raucous frat boys, "woo girls", or any of the other similar staples that keep me away from bars in general. This isn't to say that it's not a fun atmosphere, because it is. It's just a more grown-up type of fun. Of course, it gets busy during peak hours, just like every other place in the area. If you want to go out to eat on a Friday night in the Polaris area, you're going to wait, no way around it. They also have pretty nice happy hour specials and Trivia Night on Mondays. I love their Sunday brunch, definitely check that out, especially if you're a Bloody Mary fan! I would (and do) recommend The Pub to anyone. Maybe I'll see ya there!

This is the only place I enjoy in Polaris. The staff is awesome, the scenery is awesome and I have NEVER been disapointed by the food or selection. All around awesome. I even have my own mug. Ask about the passport.

Great Bangers and Mash and also really liked the Scotch Egg as an appetizer. My mom had a Pim's cup which she said was ok but my speckled hen beer was really good. Service was awesome especially being a Friday! For sure would go back again!!

Had dinner there today. 5:00 on a Saturday. Not busy at all. Service was great. We had the Spring rolls for an appetizer. Very good. Slightly spicy but not bad. I dont like spicy food and they were just right. The dipping sauce that came with them was good as well. I had the buttermilk chicken with mac and cheese and accent salade. Dressing on salad was very good. Nice and light. Mac and cheese was very rich but it was a nice small side so it didnt feel like too much. The chicken was great. Moist and very flavorful. I asked for honey bc i love to eat chicken with honey and they had it. Soo good. My husband had the english roast. Portion was kind of small. Meat was tender and whipped potatoes were very good. He also had a bumble bee beer. Our daughter had the cheese pizza and chips (thick cut fries) and she cleaned her plate. She is 5 so it must have been good. We would go back for sure. All that for only $50. Not bad.

British pub. Came here on a Thursday during happy hour. $4 appetizer and $3 beer. Good selection of alcohol. Fairly busy once it hit 6pm. I ordered fish tacos. It was okay, I wasnt full from it. Also ordered their bbq crisps appetizer. It was just bbq sauce on chips with some bacon pieces and onion. It wasnt worth it, couldve just bought a bag of bbq chips. Conveniently located next to the mall.

Came here for the Fish & Chips and a Guiness poured right and was quite happy with the outcome. Great place just to come in a and look at all the polished wood, UK memorabilia, women in short plaid skirts, men in kilts and plenty of Footie flags and games on the toobs. I can see wh yso many UK ex-pats come here to watch and drink and eat. Great menu of many traditional UK standards. While a bit on the pricy side for what I consider pub grub it was all high quality and served very well.

The Pub is one of my favorite places. I have been going to the Pub Polaris for a few years now, every Monday night at 7:30PM just to play trivia, get together with friends, eat good British food, and drink an eclectic variety of rotating beers, and it never seems to disappoint. The wait staff is incredibly friendly, and they very much take care of their regulars. They occasionally bring in live music, which often times isn't much to write home about, and the sound levels for those nights may not be for everyone. However, you can't really beat Wine-down Wednesdays (1/2 off bottles of wine). Or their build your own Bloody Mary for those rough Sunday mornings. All in all, this is a great bar experience for any passerby and if you are reading this thinking whether or not you should try it; You definitely should.
