Happy hour seems to be the time to come here, Monday through Thursday 4-7.

FOOD The nachos were meah, looked like liquid cheese but a notch better. The wings were pretty mediocre, but not bad in any way. Decent beer selection, and the prices were not crazy. SERVICE Very friendly and courteous. ATMOSPHERE I love being in this room, old world building with modern appointments.

I ordered the Mozzarella & Marinara and the Spinach Walnut and Feta Salad for lunch. Both were really good. Others with me ordered the Tavern Nachos (which was enormous) which I tried and it was too spicy hot for my taste but she loved it and the special which was a chicken burrito smothered in queso. We ordered a pepperoni pizza to go and heated it up later at home for dinner. We all enjoyed our meals and will definitely be back.

Great food and stiff drinks. Really cool environment and updated decor. Definitely what the neighborhood needs. Nice, spacious patio and a great fit to the neighborhood. Plenty of free on-street parking. Located next to The Angry Baker and across the street from Yellow Brick Pizza. Open 7 days a week and open late.

Two words....Beet Sliders. If you like beets, you gotta try these. They were fantastic. What a great spot! Nice sun filled patio for a Sunday Funday. Cold beer, great service and a really good buffalo chicken sandwich. Can't wait to go back.

This place has friendly out going staff, the Nachos are worth the Price and are really good, will go back, and the beer menu is great .

After three years ,Tavern Olde Towne rounds out the intersection of Oak & 18th. The bar itself is woodsy, full of brick, and the chandeliers are a nice touch. It's a cozy spot and nicely complimented the snow that came while I was in town. HH is great: not only are all draughts half off, but it lasts til 7. For $7.50 I was definitely buzzed off the two high ABV beers I had (a christmas ale and a deceptive Ohio-brewed porter). Can't comment on the food, but I think the internet jukebox seems out of place and a moe unique one with songs you can never find on those internet ones would be nice. As is, it's a great neighborhood watering hole. Hope to see Main St in Olde Towne start looking more like Oak St in a few years.

Great little place in Old Town East. The service is awesome and the food is really good too. This is just what the neighborhood needed.

First let me say that my husband and I ate at The Tavern the Monday after their soft open so we were anticipating some small problems as with many new restaurants until they figure out what works and what doesn't. Now, we were one of two tables. The other table was a three-top that arrived before us. We were greeted and given menus. Looking at the menu and the prices I was expecting a pretty gourmet experience. My husband ordered the tavern salad ($8) and I ordered the white pizza which was $11 (described as having a garlic paste, provenella cheese and peperoncinis). We started off with the guacamole ($7). The atmosphere was good and the bar was nice. However, there was a linger jalapeno essence in the air that was making me cough profusely. Then, I noticed the staff and other patrons coughing as well. I am assuming the jalapeno popper grilled cheese on the menu may be to blame. It was not a pleasant breathing experience. After about 20 mins the jalapeno coughing issue ended and that's about when we received our starter. Yes, it took 20 minutes to get our appetizer. The guacamole was okay but the consistency was not the best. We had huge chunks of avocado the size of a prune. I expected that my husband's salad would be the next out since it didn't need to be cooked. However, another 20 mins went by without any word from the server or owner(s) as to the delay of our food. Then, my pizza arrived and we were told the health inspector arrived expectantly and that's why our food was delayed. I'm glad we finally knew why it took so long but by that time we were pretty upset. My pizza looked like any prefab pizza dough from the store. When I took my first bite my reaction was - this a huge garlic bread. It tasted exactly like a generic garlic bread - not the artisan pizza that I paid $11 for. Finally, my husband's salad came and although it looked fresh and there was no iceberg lettuce in sight - it looked like the size of a side salad. Overall, I think this restaurant/bar has potential but I think the quality of food needs to be much better for the prices - or the prices need to be reduced. If I can get an AMAZING pizza for $9 at Harvest in German Village at lunch, I definitely will not be paying for a mediocre garlic bread pizza for $11.

Olde Town East really needed a place like this! Love it! Going tonight to try the menu and will update!

Great patio in the spring and fall, nice fire pit but little shade and can get hot in the summer. Food is nothing exceptional, I like the Cuban sandwich and the fish tacos. The draft selection is excellent. It's a nice corner bar we can walk to. Stopped in for just drinks, caught happy hour, even watch the Super Bowl there - nice place to be able to talk through a game and not have it overpower.

Went here two nights in a row while in Olde Town East. Great food and beer selection. The bar has a upscale feel, but delivers a great price at around $7-12 for food. I got the jalapeño popper grilled cheese sandwich with a side of sweet corn -- it was fantastic! Also would recommend trying their hummus platter or nachos for an appetizer. Great location and place to be!

Beet sliders?? Yep, roasted beet sliders! A creative (and perhaps healthy) twist on the usual kind. The perfect blend of crispy (the beets) and creamy (green goddess), our only complaint was that there were three sliders and four of us sharing them! Even if you think you don't like beets you should try them. We also shared a "pitcher" of sangria which was an enormous mason jar filled with fruit and a surprisingly tasty sangria. My husband couldn't decide on a beer from the very extensive beer list so our waitress asked him what he usually drank. She then brought two very generous samples. He was very happy with the Belgian beer he selected. I had the spinach salad. It was large and properly dressed. There was an enormous portion of walnuts, feta and dried cranberries (perhaps they were dried cherries). It would have been enough for dinner but I hadn't realized that and had ordered the veggie chili. The chili was tasty but too watery for my liking. More soup than chili. My husband enjoyed his turkey sandwich. He was pleased that it had "real" turkey, not simply thin deli slices. Our friends also enjoyed the sausage sandwich that they shared. They also shared the spinach salad (thumbs up) and the Italian wedding soup (thumbs down). The place was surprisingly busy for a Wednesday night. We arrived at 615 and snagged the last table! They were having some sort of issue with the ventilation system and at one point everyone in the place started coughing. It was short lived and a swig of sangria helped! We will definitely return.

Living nearby makes me a little bit biased but honestly Olde Towne Tavern is awesome. The food is awesome, the staff is friendly and knowledgable, and the beer selection is legit. Great place for lunch or happy hour. They have 3 flat screens so you can also check out the game (don't expect much of the crowd to care for sports however, haha). Overall consistently great experience.

You lost me when you charged me $4.00 for a little bucket of guacamole. That is highway robbery. I lived in CA for 30+ years and I have been to Mexico several times. This is not what it costs to get a side of guacamole. An authentic Mexican restaurant would charge a buck to two bucks. Even the quesadilla, which I doubt you can even pronounce, let alone no what the word quesa means wouldn't be more than $5 not $10.00. You want to serve Mexican in Ohio, learn to speak Spanish and don't take advantage of your customers. I lost my appetite for returning when I saw the bill. I expected the $10.00, I saw that on the menu but $4, NO. You need to teach your staff to explain that you rip people off when they ask for guacamole so people will be aware of this. You are charging 3x what it costs for one avocado, which is all that was in the little tub. Get people to pay for your booze, let them stay for the food but please. I am not a drunk and I do not appreciate people who try to take advantage of others.

I eat here about 4 times a week and love everything about it. Great beer, good scotch, nice cocktails, above average food especially considering the size of their kitchen, great service, wicked patio. Great place

It's a great little neighborhood bar. They have a wide selection of beers and what-not. It's a great business for OTE, and the neighborhood will only go up with places like The Tavern.

The Tavern is an AWESOME place.Great drink selection, AMAZING food ( The Red Masher Sandwich) truly is the best sandwich ever invented!! They should put a patent on it. The owners have done a wonderful job with the space and they have a great patio, complete with a firepit. The staff is very good, always moving!! This was a much needed place in the area. Food is served until 1:00 A.M. Seems like its been there for a long time, but it only opened a little over a year ago!! Keep up the good work

  • Lisa M.

Yeah, the food is okay. Meh, really (which is why the review is a four) BUT, 10 Reasons why OTE Tavern may be my favorite thing in Columbus (in no particular order): 1. It is down the street from me. 2. Pretty good beer selection. 3. Great happy hour deals! 1/2 off drafts and $1 soft pretzels (May be more deals). 4. Speaking of, mouth watering pretzels with a delicious spread. 5. Happy hour extends beyond 4-7 pm on weekdays by including Buckeye games. 6. Friendly staff. 7. Open til 2 pm and accepts credit cards. 8. Beautifully decorated bathrooms. 9. Very mixed crowd. Seriously, I've seen many types of people here which creates a very cool vibe--not hip, but diverse and interesting. 10. There is a patio with a fire pit!!! You can sit outside all night (even when it's a blustery November evening), sipping a pint, chatting with a friend. You still hear the music and can easily walk to the bathroom or bar. Best yet, I've sat out there with no one I knew, watching stars, and chatted around the fire with a grand variety of people who came and went. The calmness of the surrounding neighborhood made it feel like I was in my backyard, drinking with friends. Communal pub. The way bars should be. LOVE!

Was here on a surprisingly busy Sunday. Eurocup on TVs. Incredibly friendly staff. Could not have been nicer. Atmosphere was great even though I brought the average age up considerably. Excellent selection of draft beers. Something for every taste. Menu is limited but well executed. Bar food with a twist. A good twist. This place will become regular stop for us. Just a great place to hang.

Best drinking spot in the city! Awesome patio, HUGE beer selection, and super friendly and amazing staff (Heather and Josh rock!). Food is great for those late night munches, the chicken nachos are addicting!

So exciting to see how much energy is in this cool part of town with all of the historic character. I love the wings, patio and beer options here--YUM! They have other great menu options, too.

I normally dont write too many good reviews on places because I can be pretty picky. But This place is fantastic. My husband & I are visiting from scottsdale and we wanted to try a newer restaurant in Columbus. We had heard about the tavern from a friend and decided to give it a try. I must say we were so pleased with the service and the food was fantastic. The menu is great and offers a great selection. Even Brier Hill style pizza! The Sangria was honestly the best I have ever had. The ambiance, the people, the staff, the menu, food & drinks all get 5 stars. If this place was in Arizona we would go there for food and drinks at least once a week. Loved it!

Went for dinner with a friend last night & ended up hanging out for hours after on the gorgeous & inviting patio. Great menu selections for us vegetarians. Its nice to have several items to choose from! Beet sliders are amazing as is the vast beer selection. The headache I'm feeling today is a good sign for the wonderful new addition to olde towne. And being so new, its only going to get better! Bravo Tavern!

Go here for happy hour. Great Belgium/craft beer selection/specials but they need to work on an appetizer specials. None were drawing me there. The neighborhood is a little rougher but it's worth the trip. Come for the drinks, get food elsewhere. With better food I would have given this place a 5.

  • Lo S.

Tavern Olde Town is a gem! AWESOME draft selection, food is inexpensive and delicious, specials/happy hour are unbeatable, atmosphere is great, staff is friendly and knowledgeable, patio is just darling!!! Pretzels are $1 during happy hour and taste like what I imagine Heaven smells like.

We really enjoyed our experience at the Tavern. We ordered beers from an extensive beer list after a few suggestions from our bartender (she was super friendly and helpful). I had a hard time deciding what to order for dinner but am glad I went with the Tavern Salad (which was enormous). I snagged a piece of my partner's pizza, and it was equally delicious. I should also mention that I greatly appreciated the whole "feel" of the place. At one point, the owner even stopped by to give me a little history of the place. We have been looking for "our hangout," and I think we have found it!

  • John H.

Loud, pretentious and $$$$ for no reason. $4 for a @#$^ pint of Miller Lite in the ghetto! My friend ordered the 'tavern egg' as an app.- a @#$% hard boiled egg with no accompaniments for $3. The din was enuf to deafen ya. Buncha magpies tryin' to 'out-loud' one another. Oh well, as they say - live 'n learn. WAY better grub and gruel in other hovels way cheaper.

We absolutely love this place. Half off drafts is nice during happy hour, but we. Like that it's diverse, friendly and delicious. Nice patio too. The pizza crust is unlike any other kind I've had. So delicious.

Great neighborhood tavern. Crazy selection of brews and good eats. Minutes from downtown. Has a patio with a fire pit (great for summer nights). Mixed crowd: blue collar, white collar. Reasonably priced. Neighborhood street parking . Friendly and attentive servers and owners.

Had walked by several times when out walking the dog, so decided to stop in one Sunday afternoon. Sat outside on the patio. Great food, great/friendly service. Started with the red sangria ... very good ... the mozzarella & marinara .... ask for the sauce on the side, it was a little salty, but otherwise very good. Then ordered the Cuban Sandwich, which was excellent. Would definitely recommend to any Columbus foodie. BONUS: Being a large breed dog owner, we are always looking for patios that allow our dog, and they do! We will be back

After going to an LBGT film screening, and checking out a south-side warehouse gallery, two good friends and I had developed the munchies. We were looking for good chicken wings, thus Tavern was suggested. We arrived here around 12:15 am, on a Saturday morning. There was a pleasant fill of local people manning the bar, and a few of the tables were occupied. Since Stephen, one of my good friends, lives a few houses down from this joint, it's appropriate to say he's a regular. The female bartender/server greater us, very casual gal, asked Stephen how things were going; she didn't even have to ask what he wanted to drink - got him his German beer right away :) Not too many times can you find true "neighborhood bars" any more. Loved the local vibe oozing outta this place We each got our own order of chicken wings. Mine? Plain with ranch dipping sauce on the side. They were FANTASTIC!! Crispy, lightly seasoned, meaty.the dipping sauce too was great. It came in alarmed than normal bowl - I was elated I didn't have to try and figure out how to fit the big juicy wing into some Benadryl size, tiny cup - shhwww!! I love forward to eating here more. I definitely want to try more of their dishes!

One of my favorite happy hour spots. Love the half priced beers and the soft pretzels; they are really amazing! Also, their vegetarian nachos can serve at least a table of four. Great value! The Tavern is situated in one of my favorite neighborhoods and the atmosphere is perfect for unwinding for the evening. Check out their brunch Saturday and Sunday, 11am - 3pm. Strawberry infused sausage.

I do not throw out 5 stars at the drop of a hat, but this place is worth it! The first restaurant I visited upon arriving in Columbus made me happy I came to visit the old town area of this awesome city! This classy, hipster, hole-in-the-wall is exactly the type of bar you come to for good food. It was packed and noisy, but the service was fast and friendly! I usually do not find the bar scene comfortable, but our server did an excellent job making me feel like I was visiting an old friend. There were young and old, families and singles, all enjoying the brunch specials offered at this hidden treasure of a restaurant! If you're worried about high prices at such a popular spot, worry not. It's one of those rare locations that offer you far more then what you feel like you're paying for!

Great place down home food fast friendly service. Came in here off the yelp recommendations with half out 11U baseball team to recover with some local tavern food and were extremely happy we did.

Came here during happy hour once and had amazing pretzel sticks. There were quite a lot people during and was very lively during that time. When the warm weather hits definitely get a table outside and enjoy their pretzel sticks! and perhaps a drink

I sat on the patio for happy hour last night, with old school hip hop playing and the sun shining, I was in heaven.

How did I fail to mention my absolute favorite thing on the menu? We order them every single time. BEET SLIDERS! To die for. YUM! And I don't like beets! ha!

The Tavern is our not-in-our-neighborhood neighborhood bar. While we do have O'Reilly's, Tavern's vibe is just as chill but more intimate-feeling. Dark wood, dark décor on the inside, lovely enclosed patio at the back - whiling away the time with a drink and some good food is so easy here. Whether wine, beer, or spirits, they've got a good selection of each and no one blinks an eye if you order either Miller High Life or a martini. The food is uniformly excellent, if sometimes mistimed - their grilled cheese variations are wonderful, provided they get to you quickly. Otherwise, they can be a lukewarm, mushy (but yet tasty) mess. Tavern nachos, pretzel sticks with slightly-spicy queso dip, baked chicken wings - their appetizers are some of the best in town. We had white pizza this time around, along with baked wings and pretzels (of course) and the pizza is solid. However, as one can get Yellow Brick pizza across the street, we're planning to stick to the other options on the Tavern menu. Along with grilled cheese (jalapeno popper, pear and brie, for two) and pizzas, they have fish tacos and other items which are vegetarian-friendly (hummus, nachos, etc.) - no need to order salad, unless you want one. They have daily specials and happy hour as well. It's well worth a trip to OTE to chill at the Tavern.

I definitely recommend sitting on the back patio! There are umbrellas for each table and a really nice fire pit. They play good music that you can still hear on the patio. The location is great in old town east and located right next to the angry Baker. I went midday on a Saturday and parking was not bad at all, there is plenty of street parking close by. there are kettle chips instead of fries which are very good. I will definitely be going back..the prices are very good, my sandwich, chips and a pickle was only 8 bucks.

    (4)
  • Matt H.

This is a neat place with a nice atmosphere and back patio. The pretzels are amazing and only $1 on happy hour. I got the buffalo chicken with a side of chips which was okay and overpriced in my opinion.

    (4)
  • Mike K.

The food is pretty mediocre, but the beer selection is decent and the fire pit on the patio is a winner.

    (3)
  • Bret C.

Coming from Pittsburgh, this is the first restaurant I went to when I visited Columbus this past February. I first like to say I loved the atmosphere at this tavern! The waitresses were very friendly and helpful in making selections for drinks from the bar. This tavern offers some of the best grilled cheese sandwiches, including the Jalapeno Popper that my friend had. Personally I went for the Cuban sandwich, which had thick cut spiral ham and pulled pork, not lousy lunch-meat, this has set a new standard for me for ordering Cubans for now on! This service was great and fast for the amount of traffic the tavern had and it was relatively inexpensive.

Went a little early with the family. The girls went with the pretzels and they were a big hit. My son had the dip sandwich, score. I had the buffalo bleu sandwich which remaindered me of the Franks hot buffalo dip on toast. My wife had the fish tacos which she said were great. We started off the evening sharing a chicken quesadilla which was yummy. And you can't forget the beers selection, lots of winter versions.

Sitting across from Yellow Brick, I can see why Tavern Olde Towne does not place more focus on their pizza, but boy do they put out a damn fine pie. TOT feels like, and is, a great neighborhood watering hole, with a very diverse clientele who all seem to know each other. With the weather finally warming up, the patio was open and in full swing. The on tap beer selection is fairly decent and service is both friendly and fantastic. The menu is also fairly diverse, but I was here for the pizza. TOT offers only a few pizza variations, with set toppings. I wanted to add mushrooms to the pepperoni pizza, but there were no mushrooms in the entire restaurant (I was told that that is going to change as they will be adding some more topping selections to the menu). TOT's crust is somewhat thick and crispy (no big air pockets or much chewiness). While not my favorite style of crust, it really worked well with the toppings, which were superb! The pepperoni had great flavor and came out all nice and cupped and crispy. What really sold the pizza, however, was the unique sauce on top of the cheese action. And that sauce? Well, it was tart and herby - a great complement to the spicy peps and thicker, crispy crust. Just plain yummy. I wish TOT was in my neighborhood, I'd be there all the time.

Left the office (gasp!) for an impromptu lunch with coworkers. Not sure if parking is tricky, but we lucked out with a space in front of the restaurant. I really liked the atmosphere and it reminds of me of club 185 with the large bar and long building. Server recommended the fish tacos. I couldn't make a decision so went with it. No regrets! Very light and delicious flavor, pineapple was a nice add giving some citrus without being overly acidic. There were 2 other orders of the tacos at the table, a buffalo chicken, italian sub (special). It was nice to have a grilled piece of fish and one that is grilled nicely vs the fried, or overly cooked fish you sometimes encounter. The buffalo sandwich I was told was "not bad". He told me that is compliment and it means "good" and he was happy. We can't help those that aren't overly enthusiastic and yelp-aholics like myself. Italian looked tasty with lots of meat (that is the point, right?) Sandwiches are served with chips; they actually don't even have a fryer. Which was kinda refreshing to know. i think i'll come back for happy hour and pretzels.

If you're into a low-key atmosphere with an extensive craft beer menu (they always have a stout on draft) and good conversation (low music so you can hear!) this is your go-to Old Towne East place. The ambiance is dim light - reminds of of a swanky dive bar - if that is even a thing, Tavern Olde Towne brings it. Tip: Go to happy hour and order plently of their $1 pretzels which are out of this world.

Try their baked wings with the Buffalo sauce. The best in the city. They often make a good sazerac if the ladies are there. Open late every night of the week. A good spot to catch the game. Great patio in the back when the weather is decent.

Great food, chill atmosphere Stopped in to the Tavern for a late night bite last night. I had been holding off on Tavern for quite some time, but decided there was no better opportunity to give them a try. I am so glad I did. Walked in from the cold winter night to a nice warm atmosphere. It was really dark, but no matter. Sat at the bar and was helped immediately. They brewed me a fresh pot of coffee and I ordered up hummus, the veggie chili, and a pepperoni pizza. The spicy chili was very flavorful. I liked the thick veggie ingredients and had just enough heat. The hummus was a star dish. It comes with tzatziki sauce as well as this quinoa-like stuff. With the provided bread scoop all the ingredients together for an incredible bite. The pizza did not disappoint either. Pepperoni was plentiful, sauce had great flavor, and the bread wasn't too thick. Even with 3 cups of coffee the meal still left me fat and sleepy. Will definitely revisit.

This has pretty much become my go to spot for cheap drinks and eats. I host an online radio show in the area on Thursday's and this pace has become our post show watering hole. Shout out to the waitress who always remembers my drink: Watershed Bourbon Barrel Gin and Tonic with lime ;-) Oh and the throwback music keeps us entertained. For me the real gem of this place is the patio, plenty of seating and a nice fire pit.

I'm not sure what happened here, but tonight, the food and the service was just a bit of a let down compared to the past few times we've been here. Our server was probably just overloaded with tables, as it was just her and one other person servicing the entire dining room. Our service was relatively fast, but it was super inattentive. Also, I wish the Cuban sandwich was still served on that yummy bread they used to use. Now it's just served on toast. Totally turns it into a meh sandwich.

Olde Town East is a great spot and the best part about it is the Tavern Olde Town. This is my wifes favorite place to eat. Given any place to eat in the city for her birthday she chose this over finer dining such as Hyde Park. The nachos are the best in the city and the tavern salad is great too. We are also big fans of the sliders. The servers here are friendly and they seem to really work hard at making your experience the best it can be. They have a good beer selection too.

  • Bryan M.

I've been to the Tavern Olde Towne a couple of times now. Love the location and the beer selection is good, though the last time some friends of mine and I were there, they were out of several listed beers, kept giving the wrong person the wrong beer (at least we got to taste new beers!), and ended up giving me the wrong credit card, which I didn't discover until I'd already left and made several purchases on (all Chase cards look alike and we should have checked, I know). Still, I would go back and the happy hour is great. We need more pubs like this in Olde Towne East!

    (3)
  • James B.

The food and service is always awesome here! They go above and beyond the call of duty to make anything I order vegetarian. They greet you by your name, always have your drink ready when you come in. The crowd is always friendly too. A nice neighborhood pub where everyone really does know your name! A true asset to the community here in Olde Towne East!

I had been here once previously for a drink, and no one else with me ordered because they said it was too expensive. This was kinda embarrassing haha. They were like five bucks. These cats weren't even college kids. Full-on adults. They did not make the cut for future drinking buddies. Finally made it back again recently and had a really nice br/lunch with a friend, but the company might have had a lot to do with that. Bumped into CM Christina and husband-to-be Dave too! Dave recommended the fish tacos, which is one of my favorite foods of all time, but I was in the mood for some brunchy stuff so I ended up going with an omelet of some sort, as I recall. We were gonna hang around to chat a bit more and watch some of the game after so we ended up ordering nachos after our meals too, just to snack on. All of the food tasted good, but I must comment on my friend's egg's benedict. One, she asked for them to be made vegetarian (spinach and tomato instead of ham), which they obliged happily. But two, the eggs were overcooked and the hollandaise was near non existent. One of the eggs had been nearly cooked through. Eggs benedict with no yoke and no hollandaise is like a taco with no shell. This, and some difficulty getting service when we needed (they were not exceptionally busy) are what keep this at an a-ok three stars. The space is really well done, there is a fantastic patio now, it's bright in the day time, the menu is solid, prices fair, etc. etc. Just a few hiccups on this visit that kept it from a four for me. Fantastic addition to the Oak St OTE corridor all the same.

Pretty darn good, great beer selection and food taste fresh! Service was fast, nice atmosphere and patio with gas fire pit.

Gem in the 'hood. This place had come highly recommended from multiple friends so I finally decided to try it. My friend and I got the turkey club sandwich and the mashed potato sandwich which were both delightful- never thought mashed potatoes could work so well in a sandwich but these definitely do! For a tavern, this place does have REAL food if you're actually hungry and in need of a filling meal. The back patio is quiet and private and great for conversation.

I like these kind of cool spots that carve out their territory in up-and-coming neighborhoods. They have a great selection of beer i've never heard of. You should check this place out - it's where real hipsters come to drink, not Bodega. Be an early adopter, not a follower!

ALWAYS have a good time here! Visited last night and once again, it is always what we expect. Relaxing, awesome food, and good drinks! My husband and I always go here on week days after work to wind down. They always have good craft beers on tap and I personally, love their food. Their nachos are outrageously enormous, but so good! They can probably feed 6 people, easily! They have great happy hour deals as well... we always get their pretzel sticks for $1.00 during happy hour; they come with honey mustard and queso to dip. My husband got their Buffalo Chicken sandwhich last night that had shredded chicken, buffalo sauce and blue cheese all melted together like a panini! He spared one bite for me and I will definitely get it next time. I also had their martini called strawberry fields, it was pretty good (got tired of beer). It was Whipped Vodka, Strawberry vodka and lemon and simple syrup! Strong, but good! I would recommend anyone in the area to go here or for anyone that wants to try out something new. We love the atmosphere and the bartenders are always friendly and helpful!!

I love this place in the summer, the trio of humus is my favorite. Service can be a little under par, but it makes up for it with the food. Give it a try. Say thanks to them for helping cleaning up the area as well.

I've only been here once and it's been awhile but my lasting impressions are of really tasty food, a beautiful patio, a fresh interior, a funny sandwich board out front promising fun staff, and tasty sangria. I can't wait to return and see what all the fuss my fuzzy memories are making is all about.

Great happy hour with dollar pretzels and good drink specials. A few very unfriendly bartenders and less than average food. Good atmosphere and great patio with fire pit.

Great little spot with a wonderful patio! The Old Towne Fashioned is delicious and there is also a great beer selection.

First off, I love the feel of this place. Cute, homey bar and great patio with a fire pit. What really sold me was the menu! I had the hardest time deciding what to get because it all sounded so good. Unique grilled cheese sandwiches, fish tacos, hummus sandwich, salads. I got the fish tacos due to the bartender's suggestion and was not disappointed. Large portion and some of the best I've ever had. They also had great local beer suggestions. Fairly priced, especially during happy hour. Would definitely stop in again next time I'm in Columbus.

Hold the phone! This is exactly the type of place OTE needed to take it to the next level and yes - as good as it gets is spot on for what I need and look for in a local tavern! As one of my new favorite spots on game day, be it known that they run incredible happy hour deals throughout the game. Incredible deals like $1 soft pretzels, 1/2 off drafts - did you read that? - HALF OFF ALL DRAFTS! I sucked down like three pumpkin ales in two hours just for the fantastic deal I was getting. You can also such down wine for $1 off and $3 well drinks. I hear this place is also your soccer game watching destination, as well! Although many taverns aren't most notable for their food, Tavern Olde Town breaks the mold! This food is legit. We're not talking crappy, cheap ingredients or uninspired dishes. Uh, beef sliders anyone? This is REAL (tasty) food. My heart was after a big plate of nachos, so that's what I got. A massive plate of delicious nachos piled high with fresh pico de gallo, real cheese sauce and REAL, hearty shredded chicken. Not the over-preserved, salted kind either. In fact, their poultry is local! And so is their beef, and their sausage! Beyond the food, they have 25 beers on tap. That's impressive. And they even work with Yellow Brick across the street to make sure they aren't overlapping brew offerings. Love it when local businesses work together! Once an old pharmacy, the place really has a lot of character. There's a huge photo of what it used to look like on the wall. Clearly it's come a long way. The three things I took note of were the ceilings, the chandeliers and one helluva patio! It even has a fire pit! If all of that doesn't impress you, I'm sure you'll appreciate the jukebox. See ya there!

Went here on a Friday evening and the place was pretty packed. Bar is decently sized, staff is pretty friendly, drinks are alil pricey (but what do you expect for a Friday night), and the people you meet here are fun. I'd say if you have a wait for Yellow Brick pizza across the street, then definitely stop in, or if you want a pretty chill place away from downtown, check it out! Also, one of the regulars informed us that the pizza is sketchy, but the sandwiches are top notch!

It's an Olde Town East gem. Great atmosphere, great service and great food. My personal favorite is the Buffalo Blue. The Tavern Turkey is also great. The Tres Amigos is a great appetizer and so is the Pretzel Sticks. Full bar.

Somehow they manage to ruin sandwiches....I dont understand how they can ruin something so simple as a pear and grilled cheese sandwhich but it came out burnt, dry and with no flavor what so ever. Very generic tap list, poor mixing when it comes to a cocktail....not impressed. We keep trying (4 times now) and sadly this place never seems to satisfy...I wish thigns can turn around for them as OTE needs places for the neighborhood that arent uh...scurry...

Started Coming here over a year ago and will keep going back again and again. Atmosphere is so cute and cozy .. reminds me a lot of a speakeasy in NYC. Their menu has grown and they offer all sorts of delicious food. Sandwhiches, melts, nachos and much more. Gourmet bar food done right! I came into town around December and stopped in on a Friday night around 6.. it was slamming in there! only about 2 seats open at the bar.. everything else was taken. Good service, excellent food and drinks. It is small so probably not the best for big groups unless you called ahead.

There's a tiny little oasis in the middle of the roughness of Old Town East that is really becoming a great little spot. Yellowbrick, Angry Baker and now Tavern are drawing me outside my comfort zone and into the strange lands east of I-71. Tavern's environment is great - sweet tin roof, long and narrow bar, great patio. The TVs are plentiful but not overwhelming. The beer selection is fantastic - tons of local brews on tap, with great prices (especially during happy hour). I tried their pretzels. Amazing. Chewy, crispy, with great queso for dipping. Plus they were odd shaped, so I assume they're made in house. The best part about Tavern? A server that shows up every ten minutes or so to take new orders, clear plates, basically just check on things. It's sad when basic service stands out at a bar, but that often feels like what the Columbus bar scene has come to. Kudos to Tavern. I'll be back!

I'm sure you've heard the buzz. This little intersection in Olde Towne East is becoming a happenin' little spot, and Tavern Old Towne is one of the establishments making Olde Towne a place to visit! I like the crowd here: less hipstery than Bodgea but still hip, a mix of ages, a mix of incomes and attire. Basically, you won't feel like you need to be a certain "type" to be in the Tavern. Fun beer selection, too. The pretzel sticks were just $1 when I was in, with incredible dipping sauces to go with the pillowy, carby goodness. The gorgeous bar and pressed tin ceiling make this joint feel old and established, but not stuffy and not contrived. The patio is slightly secluded, but bigger than I was expecting. If you live Downtown or in German Village, rotate Tavern Olde Towne into your mix. It's closer than you think!

Other than having a terrible ventolation system, Tavern Olde Towne is doing things right. Amazing half price happy hour, great draft list, simple well executed menu, great neighborhood bar vibe, and friendly help make it all work. They have a patio that looked pretty great, but the inside has the great vibe you want this winter. Stop here for a drink after work for for dinner anytime. And please people, get over yourselves over the stigma of Olde Towne. Park you car on 18th or Oak and have a good time. It'll be fine; the area is well patrolled and people out dining are out trying to have a nice time just like you. Tavern Olde Town is a great additon to Oak!

First time here and will be back! Although we had to wait awhile the waitress helped get our table clean as soon as one was available. Glass of reisling was good and generous. Loved the fish tacos. Good salsa and chips too! Nice selection of beers too. Special was chicken burrito which my husband had and enjoyed. Looking forward to coming back and sitting out by the fire put.

I was living in OTE when the tavern opened, and I was so glad to have a place to go sit on a patio and drink great beer. In the first few months following its opening, between a few friends and myself, we tried everything on the menu. My favorite is the red masher grilled cheese. Mashed potatoes on a sandwich? Yes, please! Oh yeah, and broccoli too. So yummy. The guac is great, but the pico and the queso are just meh. The pizzas aren't anything to write home about, but then again, YBP is right across the street, so if you want pizza with your beer, go there. Beer! The draft list is ever changing and always wonderful. There is something for every beer snob you know. The patio seating is the biggest perk for me; there is plenty of room, and a fire pit for chilly nights. Great addition to the neighborhood.

My take on Tavern Olde Towne: Basically good service. We went on a busy Saturday night and the servers seemed a little scattered, but they were attentive and nice. A really cute atmosphere with a big patio that has a fire pit. It's dark and cozy in the main dining room, with high banquette seating. Very comfortable. The drinks aren't too expensive, although I found the food overpriced. I got a dip trio that was $8 (even though the website said $6) with "house-made guacamole", queso, and pico de gallo. The pico was good, but I don't think the whole shebang was good enough to be $8. I barely touched the guac, as it mostly tasted like lemon juice to me. (A friend said all she could taste was onion. Either way, their recipe is off.) We weren't given a beer menu when we came in, and the chalk menu is *really* hard to see from across the room. Also, the other drink/special menu is in a weird place where it was partially blocked from my view in the general dining room . . . and I was in the middle of the room, not in a corner or anything. They need some acoustic tile or something in the dining room. There are no soft surfaces, and since they can fit quite a few people into the room, it becomes very loud very quickly. Overall, I think they're off to a pretty good start. I'd like to see how they develop, and I think they're a great addition to the hood.

I'm always impressed by this place. From tap takeovers to a phenomenal patio to weekend brunches to daily specials. Do yourself a favor and try one of the specials. The tuna cake on Tuesdays is delicious and light. Perfect for the summer heat. The short rib dinner with mashed potatoes and carrots on Thursdays, phenomenal home cooked taste. I literally just drooled while writing that sentence. It's a bar whose kitchen is embarrassing other restaurants. Food how it should be, genuine. And great drinks to go with it! Keep it up!

Awesome experience yet again. I had a Victory Baltic porter aged in red wine barrels and a Dark Horse peach basil ale, neither of which have I seen anywhere else. I had a plate of nachos large enough to kill, or at least maim, a lesser man, and they were damn tasty. Great food, top-notch booze, nice atmosphere. Love it here.

I drove down here for lunch just to eat here. And it wasn't a wasted trip. The bar is beautiful. Lots of dark wood and three larage TV screens that you can see from almost anywhere. I ordered a French Dip sandwich. It came with a very large dill pickle and a lot of potato chips. The horseradish sauce for the chips made them good enough to eat by themselves. A great lunch and no doubt they're doing a good business.

Was driven here from downtown by a friend who was trying to get me to try a new place. Not only have I discovered a bar/restaurant that I really like, I have been shown firsthand the improvements being made to Olde Town East. This tin ceilinged, mahogany-lined bar (with tables and booths and a gas-fire pit patio that is the envy of much bigger downtown places) boasts a good menu of pizza, salad, sandwich, and homemade specials as well as a decent craft beer list and a full offering of liquors. As this was lunch, I sadly did not get to try the drinks. My sandwich was perfect and having fresh Ohio corn off the cob as a side was an unexpected summer bonus. Friend had salad and soup, and was impressed with both. Fantastic service, neat place, and an introduction to a part of town us suburbanites might not have strayed into if not for the gutsy entrepreneurs who open and run places like this. Give it a try. I will be back for evening cocktails. One lunchmate noted he was unhappy with the cost, as it was pricier than he had thought. That being said, he ordered many sides and a salad to go with his meal, so a glance at the menu and some mental arithmetic would have been in order.

This bar was a random diamond in the rough. I had some time to kill and stopped in on a Saturday evening. The place was packed! The clientele was really friendly and the staff was very knowledgable of their extensive beer collection. My only complaint is that seating was at a premium. It took a while for a single seat to open up, but once I was able to saddle up at the bar, I had a great time.

This is a great spot for happy hour or to grab a bar dinner later in the evening. There are quite a few seats at the bar, and a bunch of scrunched-in tables, with a couple larger party tables in the front windows. During happy hour expect ever seat to be filled. They offer some good specials too (Friday night fried chicken looked amazing but I didn't get a chance to try). The food we did order was really good, flavorful and satisfying. A better-than-normal bar food experience. A solid draft list and actually quite a few wines rounded out the menu. We will definitely be back, but maybe a little earlier so we can grab quicker seats. This is a great alternative to the bustle of the short north, and reminded me a little bit of a smaller Club 185.
