This is probably one of the worst chinese food I've ever had. I'm originally from the NYC area so my expectations I guess were fairly high. They serve sandwiches here...what is that? It's chinese food. I went there for lunch for takeout, the staff wasn't very friendly first of all, and looked at me as if I was from another planet when ordering lunch.

I will start off by saying the food was good. However the management and customer service was the worst I have ever experienced!! Our waitress brought out the wrong entree for my friend. When he said this isn't what I ordered, she said "I know but I switched it"... WHAT? Why would you switch someone's order? He said well this is not what I wanted to can I get something else? She proceeds to say the the policy is to pay for half of that meal and then he can order a new one. He obviously said he wasn't going to do that and asked to speak to the manager. When the manager came over, she said, "So your telling me you didnt order this? You ordered, its not like I ordered for you!" She was extremely rude and kept trying to tell him what he ordered just because its what the waitress said. She had the biggest attitude I had to jump in and say something. I will NEVER go here again. A manager should Never argue with the customer.

Rice Bowl is one of the few Chinese options on the south side and I think they have a solid menu with consistent delivery of whats on that menu. I've had take out many times, sat down to eat, and attended a large gathering in their banquet room. The offer Chicken Corn soup, something you won't find at most places. I also love their Lo-Mien. This is one of the few places that actually serve a lo-mien that is not just an after-thought they put on the menu because every other place has it. It's actually a really good dish with real full size vegetables placed in and worthy of being a meal on its own. Some of the seafood dishes do have small portions which is sad because they have spicy crispy squid, something you can't find on all menus. The customer service can at times come off rude. It's not that anyone is actually rude, it's just that some of the employees, I believe the owners, are just not the friendliest. The staff does try had to be friendly and tries hard to be extra friendly when the boss is standing behind them. They were very friendly and helpful when I attended a wedding party rehearsal dinner here. They did a excellent job at keeping the food plates stocked and clearing out the empty ones and ensuring everyone was happy. If you like Chinese food you will probably like this place, it's a safe solid bet, especially when compared to your other Chinese options in the area. If your from a big city like NYC you might need to get over yourself and the idea that everything in NYC is so much better to enjoy it, but you will. :)

So you saw this review and you noticed the address and maybe you thought "Meh" it's on the south end of town... Don't worry, keep reading, it's not sketchy at all. The inside is actually pretty nice and the area, is safe, just not pretty.... Some of the dishes I've eaten that I can recommend: General Tso's, War Sue Gai (They have that yummy thick yellow sauce!), Lo Mein, Beef and Broccoli and their Chop Suey and Chow Mein. As far as appetizers? Their Crab Rangoon and Shrimp Toast are pretty good for starters. I love Hot and Sour Soup but I don't order it here as it's about the sweetest tasting soup I've ever had. They do have a chicken corn chowder that's usually pretty good. I've also had their Kung Pao Chicken and Schezuan Chicken and they were good but again I had to ask for the hot chili oil to spice it up as they were pretty mild. This is a solid Cantonese style restaurant and they do it pretty well. Schezuan and Hunan are a little more of a problem for them so if you insist on spicy foods be prepared to get some red pepper flakes added and then still be ready to ask for the hot chili oil as it's not going to be spicy at all. So it's a solid 3 - 3.25 star type of place that's been in Columbus since 1980. I can't say that you should drive across town but I would say check them out if you are nearby.

One dish alone carried the four star rating. The curry beef pockets appetizer was amazing. Basically the best samosa I've had happens to be from a Chinese restaurant in the southend of Columbus...go figure. They're smaller than a samosa from an Indian or African restaurant, but with more flavor and fried in a very thin, delicate, spring roll like wrapper. The main dishes of fried frog legs, sesame chicken, and Hong Kong chow mein were pretty good too, but if I come back it will be for the aforementioned appetizer. My order was carryout for the family, but while I waited I had a couple beers at the bar and chit chatted with a lady I believe to be the owner or manager. Very nice woman who gave recommendations. Restaurant is clean and the menu is pretty extensive, but the cost is slightly on the high side.

Very nice inside. Food has no flavor. Fried rice is over cooked. Been there twice and the same thing. Meat dishes like pork are also poor quality.

"STAY AWAY!!!" If I could have given no stars I would have. It's sad to me that this place has any good reviews, as Ohioans apparently don't really have much to choose from, as I've found out. Being from the northeast my expectations are much higher. To begin with this place is WAAAAY over priced. Not only for this area, but for any place that I've been. Fried rice for $8.50? Really? I made the mistake of ordering fried chicken livers (I know, not everyone's favorite, but it is mine). For $7.25, when livers are less than $2.00 a pound, I expected they would come maybe with a nice light tempura batter, or (as I've experienced) in a nice brown sauce with walnuts. Nope. They were in a pint box, with ... nothing. They were sort of a grayish brown and were badly overcooked. My first bite made me gag and I promptly threw them away in disgust. In fact, just about everything was overcooked. The beef teriyaki was like chewy leather, the fried wontons were slightly less hard than a rock would be, the chicken wings were dry and had very little taste, and the egg roll smelled bad and had a bit of a strange after taste. As for the shrimp fried rice, I'd hardly call what was in there shrimp. They were very small with virtually no taste, as the whole dish was basically bland and tasteless. Needless to say, I won't ever go back there again. Visited April 2015

We live in German Village, I've tried a variety of Chinese restaurants in the area (excluding Bexley) I think this is the best Chinese around. Their hot mustard sauce is supreme. Service is always excellent and friendly.

Confusing sort of place. Has seating for about 500 yet there were only three tables. Another table was awkwardly seated next to me in the empty dining room. The table next to me had a white linen, mine did not, guess the fancy is saved for the dinner crowd? Disappointed at the "bucket of bud lights" advertising card on the table. Service was good, and that's what's really holding up my review, the server was quick, kind and polite. The food and the menu is nothing to write home about. Gratuitous use of wok oil in my dish. Not spicy per my request (for Schezuan? not spicy??). half of a plate of white rice in two scoop shapes. The rest of the menu looks like it hasn't been updated since the 80's. This is a working man's place to grab chop suey and a few beers, unfortunately with out an update and a menu refresh, it's just an ok place instead of a great place.

The actual restaurant was nicer than I thought it would be - considering I thought it would be like a giant warehouse inside. The place looks gigantic. The food was worse than I thought it would be. The menu is sort of odd. You can get B.L.T.'s here? Hamburger Deluxe? Cheeseburger Deluxe? Fried Fish sandwich? Why? I ordered the Vegetarian Combo that came with fried rice and an egg roll. The sauce on the veggies was pretty bland, and I don't know if the rice was fried. It tasted like plain brown rice. My boyfriend ordered a fish sandwich, and it didn't look as good as Rally's - even if it was quite a bit larger than a deep sea double. The service was okay. It wasn't good, but I got my food in a reasonable amount of time. The most confusing thing in the place is a large 2012 Nascar schedule on the wall. Huh? I hate Nascar. Also, there is a lot of out-of-place wall art in this restaurant.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
