Word of warning - their portions are RIDICULOUS. As in, I came here for lunch with a friend, we'd both not eaten yet, and one sandwich order was still more than enough for both of us. We left the place stuffed and pretty much didn't even bother having dinner because we were just *that* full. We split the Cleveland Cheese Steak, which I'd definitely recommend to anyone. Exactly what you'd want in a cheesesteak, and the bread wasn't too hard (so I didn't end up shredding the inside of my mouth, which has happened far too many times when i order a hot sandwich). Was also very impressed with their service. When we told our server that we wanted to split the sandwich, they actually brought the sandwich out pre-split (2 plates, each with a normal-sized side of fries and a pickle), but didn't charge us any extra. That left a really good impression. Can't wait to come back, although I'm definitely bringing a friend again (or maybe even two) since there is no way I could finish a sandwich on my own!

the food was incredibly succulent. I had the Cleveland cheese steak and it was HUGE!! but very manageable. the fries we're tasty delicious. I visited from houston, TX and I definitely go for Melt when I come back to ohio. someone from the seminar I attended recommended this place and oh boy aren't I glad I listened!!! yummy for the tummy!!!!

The ONLY reason this gets rated two stars is because the staff was friendly. My sandwich was a huge, huge disappointment. I ordered the Monte Cristo. It was ALL bread. There were two very thin slices of meat that didn't even cover all of the bread. This was hardly a $12 sandwich. The thickness of the filling was less than half the thickness of the bread :-( Very sad, I had heard such good things. I will never return.

While the food was good, you could barely hear yourself talk and the whole place was freezing. Sit outside if you can!

Delicious! Highly recommend the macaroni and cheese appetizer!! My daughter shared the PB and banana sandwich with her friend and they LOVED it. Melt also has a great selection of beer on tap and in bottles. The only complaint we had was that the server should have warned us how big the sandwiches were. We ordered three appetizers for 7 people (don't bother with the spinach dip) and then ordered sandwiches for everyone but the kids. WAY too much food!! Definitely share the sandwiches!!

We came here and received 5-star service and 5-star good at the Easton location. The server was fantastic and the food, per the reputation.... Was amazing!!

Seated immediately, got my food in about 5 minutes. Food was great and waitress checked on me enough.

I've already written a review for the Short North Melt location, but after stopping at the Easton location I figure I should give my thoughts again. To sum it up: I absolutely love Melt. I love sandwiches in general, and Melt brings out the fat kid in me. They've got sandwiches I figured I could only dream up in my head, and so many add-on options that you truly can make just about any sandwich that you can dream up. Every sandwich I've had at either Melt location has been excellent. Feeling like Italian? Order the Dude Abides sandwich- it's a three course Italian meal all on its own, complete with bread, a mozzarella stick appetizer, and homemade meatballs and marinara...all in sandwich form of course. Feeling a little classier..maybe steak dinner? No problem- Cleveland cheese steak has you covered. I could rave about Melt for awhile, from the perfectly toasted but still soft bread, to the melty cheese, to the fact that every add-on I've had in my sandwiches has been excellent, and even the awesome posters that I get a real kick out of. In my experience the service has been very good as well, but I've generally avoided peak hours so I can't speak for long waits and things like that. My only complaint about this location is that I had a hard time finding it at first because the address took me to the middle of Easton rather than the true location- near Dick's Sporting Goods and Costco.

Not really my cup of tea for food. Places like this usual leave my stomach in ruins. But what i had was realky good and the fries were great. They have a extensive selection of craft beer selections. Very hipster feel to the place.

Not bad but I don't see what the fuss is all about. You could make the same thing at home. Menu was interesting but not exactly a new invention. I had the prime rib melt and my son had the kindergarten melt with bacon. Tasty and a lot of food for the money but not exciting. Went of President's Day for lunch and it took about 40 minutes to get food once ordered. Wait staff was friendly but overwhelmed. Appeared that someone forgot it was a holiday. The decor is fun and menus are on the back of record covers.

If you are in a hurry skip this joint. Although there were several empty tables we had to wait over 10 minutes. The atmosphere is kinda cool but very very noisy. I will complete the review upon the completion of my meal. Melt gives huge portions of very greasy unappetizing food. I went there with high expectations and was left with a greasy salty taste in my mouth. I brought home half of my food thinking maybe I as annoyed with the wait and the noise of the restaurant and it would taste better later. It was not the case, it was just as greasy and salty later. My wife felt much the same. Sorry, Melt Bar and Grill.

Our second Melt experience and it was not a good one. On the first trip the food was good but so big that it was actually awkward to eat it. Eventually had to bail on treating it like a sandwich and resort to knife and fork. I would definitely have preferred sane portion sizes. In all that experience coupled with the ambiance including menus on the back of old record covers and unique options would have gotten a 3-4 star rating with a three star leaning. On our second outing a 35 minute wait blossomed into well over an hour and was only that short because 4 parties in front of us bailed on waiting. Interestingly people who arrived after us were seated first at tables that would have accommodated our party as well. After being seated and informed they have coke products I tried ordering a coke zero. When they didn't have that I got the tea which has an unfortunate flavor. I then tried ordering what is essentially a chicken parmigiana sandwich only to be told that they are 'totally out of chicken'. Any one of those things on its own I might be able to let slide but the combination leaves at best the two star impression that I am giving them in this review.

I met some coworkers here for happy hour on a Wednesday evening a couple weeks ago. The place was busier than I expected for a weeknight. We were a decent sized group, and hovered around the bar waiting for a table to open that would accommodate us. The bartender was helpful and attentive. Eventually a table came free for us, but by then our group started to dismember. The bar area isn't that comfortable for a group larger than 3-4 to hang out at, but I wouldn't expect that here anyway. The beer list was pretty extensive and pricing was fair during happy hour. I didn't order food, but had a chance to try a friend's fries which were above average. Four stars for the bartender and beer selection.

I tried Melt for the first time on Monday. First question you should ask yourself is, am I really hungry? Portions are huge. Food quality is also great given the price. I tried the Wet Hot Buffalo Chicken. It was good: not too spicy and the coleslaw provides a good contrast to the chicken. I could only eat half of the sandwich. It was good the next day if you take off the bread. As far as atmosphere, kind of eclectic with different decor. It was quite busy at lunch so we sat at the bar. It will probably slow down after it's been open a while. All in all, a good experience if you are hungry. Check it out and you will not be disappointed!

Here's an idea. Watch my daughter and me sit at the bar for 15 minutes....then tell us we can't be there as we get ready to order. Never be back.

    (1)
  • Melinda N.

Walked in 15 minutes after opening to be told that we would need to wait in the lobby for 5-10 minutes to "let the kitchen catch up." As only a few tables were occupied at that point, we were confused. Asked to at least be seated while waiting, to the evident annoyance and consternation of the hostess. Finally went to the folks at Pies and Pints around the corner who were only too happy to serve us. Get it together, Melt.

Last night was my third visit and third different Melt location (Cleveland, Short North, and now Easton) so I feel I have given myself enough chances to fall in love with something about it. Sadly, it is not to be. Despite the fact that Melt offers several vegan options, it is not a place I would recommend for vegans. The menu has a tofu wings appetizer, a vegan cheese option, and several sandwiches which can be veganized. The problem, however, is that they nickel and dime you to death when you make ANY changes to the item. To substitute tofu or seitan for animal meat, you are charged $2-3, depending on the particular substitution. To substitute vegan cheese you are charged $2. Even to make non-vegan changes you are charged a fee, as I was when I asked for salad with my sandwich instead of fries. This $2 upcharge was undisclosed to me ahead of time. Last night I ordered the Italian Parm with tofu instead of chicken and no cheese. I was informed that they were out of tofu so I changed my order to the Purple Parm made with eggplant instead. This dish costs $11 regular price, but I was charged $13 for getting a side salad instead of fries. Would I have gotten vegan cheese, I would have been charged an additional $2 for a total of $15. Had I been able to get my original selection, totally veganized by subbing tofu for chicken, vegan cheese for animal secretions, and salad for fries, my total would have been $17 -- that is $5 more! This for a huge, bready, greasy, sandwich-- NOT WORTH IT! In addition, when you veganize many of the sandwiches, that means you lose many of the sauces and other topping that make them interesting to start with. For example, the remoulade on the fried green tomato sandwich is not vegan. Another issue is that every time I have been to Melt, it is packed and there is a long wait. I would have not expected this on a Tuesday night, but there was a one hour wait. We opted for the two empty chairs at the bar instead. The drinks, by the way, are also overpriced. $5 for a bottle of hard rootbeer and $6 for a 12oz draft? Really? Overall, this is not a place for vegans, the health conscious, or those on a strict budget. There many better places to spend your time and money. But, if you are a typical American who thinks trash in giant greasy portions is grand, a vegan with a serious junk food craving, or just love wasting money, you might find Melt to be worth the trouble.

Being just outside of Easton Town Centre, the Melt Bar and Grilled is great if you are looking for different sandwiches to satisfy your cravings. The building has a bright, flashy, and fun atmosphere and the staff was also very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. The menu is somewhat difficult to understand, especially with old-naming items, so for first time customers I recommend asking your waiter or waitress to help you out. A word of warning, the sandwich portions are very generous, (I could only eat half) which reflects the higher prices. The meatball sandwich I had was good and very flavorful. I wish they would offer half sandwiches.

    (3)
  • Erick T.

As always, I try to make my reviews as balanced and honest as possible. The building was flashy and fun and the staff was very polite! The food took a little longer then expected, especially with the attentive server we had. The portions were generous, accurately reflecting the amount of food that you would expect for the higher price point. Unfortunately, it all comes down to flavor, and their entrees simply don't have it.

First visit to this place as I've heard nothing but great stuff about it and just never quite made it to the Short North but it's now here at Easton. Once again I wish Yelp would let you give half stars ugh. I went with my Mom for lunch on a Monday and was pleasantly surprised there was no wait. We were seated at a two top that was wobbly as heck. We both ordered iced teas with lemon and I was bummed that they didn't carry my sweetener ok second annoying thing. I ordered the Backyard BBQ with pulled pork BBQ sauce fried onion rings and cheddar and it came with fries and a dill pickle. My sandwich was awesome I loved all of the components as they worked harmoniously in my mouth. The fries were competent but nothing to write home about and my pickle was well a dill pickle. My Mom ordered the War Pig that was ham pulled pork Swiss fried pickles fried onion rings and Dijon. Mmm was that another symphony for the taste buds. The sandwich portions are crazy ridiculous and both of us could only eat half of an half but hey the sandwiches are awesome and I'm not gonna knock em for portion size when I control how much I eat. I'd give four stars of they upped their fries guess I just thought they'd be as exciting as the sandwiches. Id give three and a half but Yelp won't let me and my knocks prevent me for giving a higher rating but heck yeah I'll be back!!!!

First time visiting Melt... and the food was great! One of the coolest things about this restaurant is the mural display at the entrance. The portions are huge, could only eat 1/2 my sandwich, the rest I had to take to go. I had the Cleveland Cheese steak and hubby had the Shrimp Po Boy, both were great. Visited on a Sunday around 1:30pm and was told the wait would be 45 mins to 1 hr. Our table was actually ready in 30 mins which we were happy about.

Absolutely positively one of my favorite places! Everything is super fresh and the beer selection is phenomenal. What more do you need? Yes...Melt is a heart attack waiting to happen but as "once in a while" treat you can beat it. Only issue is how long the wait times can be but that's because it's so popular.

Visited Melt at Easton on a Thursday nite. Wait was about 30 minutes. Was there with nieces and nephew. Went to sit at the bar while we waited and was told only 21 and older could be at the bar. I ordered a margarita and it was absolutely terrible! It was made with soda water even though the bar menu said it was made with sour mix. I complained and was told that's how they make their margaritas! The bartender did make me another one with sour mix and even though it was better, it was still bad. The salt on the rim tasted like it had sugar in it as well. I won't make that mistake again. There is a large beer selection available. Even though the bar experience was bad, we really enjoyed the food. I ordered the fried green tomato BLT and it was out of this world! I really enjoyed it. I traded half of my sandwich with one niece who ordered the parmagedeon (pierogi sandwich). It was really good but both my niece and I preferred the BLT. Fries that came with the sandwiches were nicely seasoned and plentiful. We ended our meal by sharing a deep fried brownie. It was so good! Golden, crunchy batter on a flavorful sauce. Overall, our food experience was so good that we will be back.

My sister chose Melt to celebrate her birthday so our group of seven visited on a Sunday afternoon. Having visited the Short North location, I was interested to see how they translated the brand to the Easton Gateway. The decor is the same: open and contemporary without being the least bit cold. That being said the number of ceiling fans running makes it feel a bit like you're sitting in a mini wind storm. Nevertheless, it's a nice, unique vibe. Known for their novelty size "grilled cheese" sandwiches, one would assume they would be able to accommodate the groups who seek to eat them. However, we and several other similar sized groups, were seated at two touching round tables or tables with someome in the aisle which made it difficult to pass through the dinning room let alone try to eat between the two. Oh, I was also told to be weary of the chairs as they slide very easily across the floor. Our server though was fantastic. She knew the menu and was more than willing to help us pick which sandwiches we may most enjoy. I went with the Fish and Chips. The bread was a little too thick and something, perhaps the arugula, tasted sour, but overall not bad. I too recommend sharing as these sandwiches do not keep well in the fridge. As I was feeling a bit critical while there my score of 3.5 may change should I return.

always a fan of big food and making me feel like a kid again lol. we had about an hour long wait but hey its a typical friday night here in columbus at easton so i knew better to complain. but once we got seated our food came out hot and it was so good.

I had heard they had a Monte Cristo sandwich here similar to what I used to get at Bennigans. Oh my gracious! This sandwich is so huge and so awesome. It is melt in your mouth goodness. Service has been great. Atmosphere very fun. Highly recommend.

Melt is a celebration of overweight American wannabe hipsters. Brown, deep-fried flavorless goo is shoveled out in a parade of exceptional mediocrity. The one redeeming quality was the friendly service.

  • Anthony R.

After a bit of a rocky start, Melt has rekindled my respect of their concept. New leadership has taken them in a much more positive direction. Outrageously large portions, but thankfully I have an appetite to handle it. The food has been consistently good. Service has been on par as well. Keep up the good work folks.

I thought the food was horrible a steak and cheese should never have what tasted like mayonnaise on it I won't be back. However everyone else I was with liked theirs so maybe I'm wrong.

I went to the newly opened Easton location of Melt. There were two adults and an infant in my party. Our tab was on the high end of the "moderate" category for Yelp, including tip, though we both drank waters. It was crowded for a Friday lunch, but I figured that would be the case. We were very warmly greeted by the hostess and handed a name tag. Instead of having a "buzzer" or asking for your last name, they creatively write down random things on a big peel-and-stick label and call that out when you're ready for your table. A little cutesy, somewhat cheesy, but interesting nonetheless. The menu was easy to navigate. I'd read reviews and had friends go before so I was well aware that their portions (sammies) are huge and designed for two people to eat. Thus, I was very, very happy when I found that they had a combo on their menu consisting of a half Kindergarten (grilled cheese) sandwich, a soup and salad. The salad was a bit overdressed for me, so next time I'll ask for the dressing on the side. Unless you like wet salad, I'd recommend that. I asked for their Three Bean Chili as my second side of the combo. I added some smoked turkey to the sandwich and you an also choose your cheese. A light from heaven came shining down on my table (cue the harps). It was the BEST restaurant chili I've EVER had. Yes, it was that good. Now, I don't usually have time for anybody's chili but my mother's -- it's just not one of those things I can trust everyone with, but I was feeling adventurous that day and I'm glad I tried it. Delicious. In addition, they give you a snack-sized bag of Pepperidge Farm Goldfish, of which I'm not a fan, so I left those there. Regular old saltines would have been fine. The service was also prompt and friendly. I was surprised at how quickly the food came out for such a busy restaurant (i.e., fully seated and with people waiting 15 - 20 minutes for a table). We got absolutely zero problems when my dining companion asked for a banana for the baby. Smartly, the kitchen had a fresh, sliced banana delivered to our table. Awesome. The only reason I give Melt four stars is because of the upcharges. If you make subs, it's probably going to cost you and I just don't think you should pay to choose a cheese. Also, I generally eat much healthier than what this place can offer, so I can't give it five stars if it's only going to be an occasional treat. But then again, I can always go back and order that Three Bean Chili a la carte!

We were here on a Friday night and lucked out that the wait was relatively short. The decor is interesting although I personally didn't enjoy it. I did, however, like the vinyl record menus and thought that was cool. The boy had the chicken and waffles and I had the wake and bake. The bacon was overly greasy but it was otherwise a great sandwich. The chicken was perfectly breaded and surprisingly not bad the next day when we reheated it in the oven. The service was very good. However, this place is insanely hard to find. For some reason, our GPS didn't take us even remotely close to the restaurant and we wasted about 15 minutes driving around in circles until we called. It is not in the Easton mall but in the new development with the Dick's sporting goods store. Overall, a good treat for cheat day but not a place I'd regularly frequent.

Huge portions and an interesting variety but not all that satisfying. Plan to share your order with a friend.

The service here was unfortunately not great. It took us about 30 minutes to be waited on and it wasn't even busy. Apparently two of the staff members thought the other had taken care of us. We ended up missing our movie which was at the AMC Easton theater and we had allowed an hour and fifteen minutes to get to. The food? It was pretty good. HUGE portions. We had never been before so decided to order appetizers to try and share. The Attack of the Green Tomato was really good! Even my husband, who isn't a fan of fried green tomatoes, loved this appetizer. We also ordered the Hangover Fries minus the egg. The fries were good but the gravy was just okay. We would definitely order the Attack of the Green Tomato again but probably not the Hangover Fries. For sandwiches my husband and our son ordered the The 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon Melt. It was pricey at $18 but they really enjoyed it. Neither of them could finish all of their food. The sandwiches also come with fries. I ordered the Winter Chicken. It was a really good sandwich and again way too big to finish for one meal. It's not likely you can finish one of these sandwiches with fries at one sitting and if you order appetizers you definitely aren't likely to finish it all. You get your moneys worth at Melt! If the service would have been better then we definitely would have given this restaurant 5 stars. Oh to be fair the waitress did comp. our fries because apparently a plate was broken and therefore it took even longer to get our food. She said something like "free food always makes things better". However, it really doesn't do a thing to get you to your movie on time.

Amazing place. I could not choose because everything look and sounded great. I ordered a Backyard BBQ with Brisket. Could not eat it all but loved every bite We were just visiting from out of state so we can't come back soon but it's in my memory.

This is a tough one for me. I love the idea, vibe and great beer selection but I felt dirty after stuffing my face with some ridiculous sandwich at lunch. I had to go home and sit in the shower with my clothes on because of the guilt of eating a 3,000 calorie lunch. I could see hitting the downtown location after a Jackets game or for dinner and beers but the Easton location was too commercial. I enjoyed the cuban sandwich and the meatball sandwich was good but I don't think I'll be a regular at this location.

Go. Just go. Fun place. Great service and amazing sandwiches. They have a food challange which my teen almost tried - but discovered he would have to eat cole slaw so he bowed out. Fried Green Tomato BLT was great. Romaine crisp, pork belly salty and thick, green tomatoes where delish and the remoulade brought it all together. My husband got the Monte Cristo - the preserves came on the side so you could dip or pour as you want. Teen got one of the specials that day - a burger. For the first time in my life I heard him say it was too much meat! Go figure. All of these sandwiches are huge. This is not an exaggeration. The bread is thick making for a very tall sandwich. Plus it comes with a mound of fries. Be hungry or be prepared to take some food home. There is a nice charm to this place - fun decor and the video games are FREE!

This place serves HUGE portions, but it was priced accordingly with $15 burgers. Place was so goddamn loud it was hard to talk and the place was nearly empty. Clearly this was designed with that new style design where you have high ceilings and intentionally bouncy acoustics that make it seem 'happening' all the time. The decor looked like a rich hipster kid became and American Picker. Santa Clause statues and a bunch of other shit that didn't make a bit of sense together at all. It was a pop culture cluster fuck. Burger we had was average. This place wasn't my cup of tea, I won't be back.

Terrible customer service Ordered take out was told it would be 15 minutes. Showed up and they hadn't put our order in yet so waited 20 more minutes. Got home to find our daughters meal missing. I called and spoke with the manager Adam who said that my daughters order wasn't included in the ticket... Even though they read the order back to us on the phone when we placed it. He asked "what do you want me to do about it" in a condescending way. After I told him how appalling the customer service was he offered a gift card which I turned down. Will not be returning nor recommending this place.

This is such a great addition to Easton! I have seen it downtown, but hadn't really been interested in battling parking to try it. Well, I am SO glad that I finally tried it. As most have mentioned, they cater to Veggies as well as vegans. What we started with was Vegan Spicy Buffalo Wings and Fried Green Tomatoes. The wings were AMAZING! Couldn't tell the difference from real wings - slight texture difference, but no much from boneless wings. The tomatoes were great too! I hadn't tried them before, and was SO excited to! They come with a corn and remoulade sauce. I would definitely order them again... both appetizers actually. My husband ordered backyard BBQ w/ veg chicken and I ordered Parmageddon. Be warned... the portions are HUGE! The BBQ sandwich was great! I can't say so much for the Parm sandwich.... maybe it's just the combination of toppings. We're both excited to try more on the menu... then I'm sure my 4 will be a 5.

Almost perfect, but they need to toast their bread more. A LOT more. The grilled cheese are phenomenal but the bottoms start to get soggy pretty fast. I've been to the Melt Short North and now Melt Easton and both didn't toast their bread anywhere near enough. Other than that, their food is great! If you're going to eat here, you might as well get the most unhealthy sandwich you can. Pro Tip: the unhealthier the sandwich is, the better they make it taste. We tried the Cuban War Pig and The Dude Abides. The Dude has a GIANT meatball in it, and the melted mozzarella and marinara make this sandwich amazing. However it couldn't compete with the War Pig. The mustard, ham, and pork on that sandwich were outstanding. 4/1/2015 - Just visited Melt again. This time we got the Monte Cristo and the Hot Italian. Both sandwiches were soooo good, but I was a little disappointed in my Monte Cristo. It had 2 slices of ham, 1 slice of turkey on it.. Seriously!? 3 tiny slices of lunchmeat? I basically just ate fried bread with some cheese, and a side of fries. Still tasty but disappointed that Melt is already skimping on toppings after only being open a few months.

The food was great, atmosphere was fun but loud ( it was a football Saturday, though). My 1 year old did not care too much for the food but I'm sure most other kids would love it. Wait time was not bad, only 10 minutes or so. I had heard other people complain about waiting longer. The only complaint I have is with the price. I got a half sandwich and it was almost $9. I feel like I could have been good with a 1/4 sandwich for a lower price

My husband and I came here before going to Costco one Saturday afternoon. I had never heard of this place and I'm not sure it's only in OH, but my goodness, it's yummy! It is basically a sandwich place, but with a twist. These sandwiches are not your average sandwiches. For example, I had the Mighty Macaroni If you are like me and love Mac and cheese, you will love this! My husband got the Cleveland Cheese Steak and he said it was pretty good. The fries were awesome, a little salty, but awesome. I think you can ask for a half sandwich, mine was so big, I only ate 1/4 of it. The ambiance is just like a regular bar and grill type place, think Chili's, not too loud, but not quiet. They also have a lot of beer choices, of course my husband loved that. And I had a couple cocktails and they were yummy! I will definitely come back to this place, I need to try the Parmageddon!!!

  • Mike G.

"The Mighty Macaroni Melt" is a thick brick of breaded mac and cheese on Texas Toast with cheddar cheese. It's their December Sandwich Special and it's a total carb blitzkrieg. I'd recommend sharing if you are with someone else as this sandwich is a freakin' 4 inches tall. Comes with fries but I subbed the Green Bean and Mushroom casserole instead to try and offset the bread, pasta and cheese overload. I ate maybe a third of the sandwich and a quarter of the casserole and then I tapped out. I liked their green friendly take away boxes so points for that! It only cost $15 for enough food for 3 meals too. Melt Bar and Grilled is a nice casual restaurant, being open and airy with some fun, kitschy stuff thrown into the mix such as: Ohio license plates, Santas, Halloween stuff and random Ohio music nods here and there. Anyah, the bartender took a moment to explain the algorithm you go through with their menu to place your order. Yeah there are a lot of choices to make here... They've got a pretty nice full service bar here. There looked to be plenty of mostly familiar choices of draft and bottled beers of which I opted for the Founder's Porter that I discovered on a recent trip to Detroit. 4 Stars for a fun experience, attentive service and filling food for a cold dreary day.

My second trip to Melt; first time at Easton. They are 2 for 2... I ordered the Korean War Pig. I spent some time in Korea and really like the food. I was impressed. This is a sandwich that captures the essence of Korean flavors in a decidedly Western package. The best Korean - fusion I've tasted. The fries are awesome, and for 90% of the population you will get two meals out of this. I'm interested in seeing how well it holds up overnight in the fridge. A better idea is to share the meal with a friend. Keeps the price reasonable that way. My date (mom) ordered the Montecristo. Looked like a club wrapped in a Chimichanga (deep fried sandwich). Definitely off the wall but looked good and she seemed to like it. Half of it, that is... Service was friendly and low key... but pretty much on time with everything. We sat on the patio and the weather was very accommodating. When we went inside to make our way to the exit we were a little surprised at the noise level... not conducive to conversation but higher energy. I parked at a meter approaching Melt from the West. Best to use the lot to the East. The meter has a 90 minute limit and wants lots of coin. There seems to be something on the menu for everyone. Give it a whirl.

So what do you expect when you think about Melt? If the answer is not "GIANT F&@%ING SANDWHICHES", yes, you are likely to be disappointed. They've found their niche and they fill it aggressively, offering so many insane variations on the basic grilled cheese that you can easily end up suffering options paralysis trying to figure out what bizzare filling you're in the mood for. Perhaps the pierogies and cabbage stuffed Parmageddon? The Dude Abiding inside of meatballs, a massive wedge of fried mozzarella, and drenched in red sauce? Or just say "to hell with my arteries" and order the massive brick of fried macaroni with two slabs of crusty bread? I like that they offer combos that can provide soup and a half sandwhich (protip: The tomato soup goes with everything, and comes with goldfish crackers!), and the staff have been friendly and helpful with suggestions each time I've gone in so far. Unlike the locations up in Cleveland Proper, I haven't had a problem with long waits for food or problems getting seated, but I have noticed that parking can be a little tricky if the surrounding stores are busy - and I expect that problem will get worse as more of the Easton expansion comes to life. The decor is fun, the food is ridiculous, and the environment generally laid back. You're not going here for fine dining, and while I appreciate that they do offer several vegetarian options (even a few that can be done up as Vegan friendly!), it's designed around mass appeal food, and indulging the little part of us that will always be 8 years old. Just roll with it, and don't be ashamed to ask for some boxes to take home leftovers - you'll almost certainly need them.

Went for dinner tonight. This was my first time here. The server was good and gave a good reconnection for a beer. I had the chicken and waffle. Holy crap this thing was massive. I was only able to eat about half. I must say I will be going back.

I am sorry, we are out of onion rings. I am sorry, we are out of bananas. When you don't have onion rings that go on sandwiches, you send somebody to the store to get some onions. While you are there, pick up some bananas for the kids that you let down. We asked for some ranch and it had a piece of pulled pork in it. Next time I am in the mood for some Grilled cheese, I will head to Tom CHEE.

Me and two of my friends went to Melt last night for dinner. The food was great! We all could only eat about half the sandwich. I got the Summer Chicken Sandwich and it was amazing! The service wasn't great, he had to ask us what we ordered over and over. We sat on the patio and it was really nice. I would definitely recommend this place!

Full disclosure: as a Melt Tattoo Family member, this review might be slightly biased. In fact, it was my tattoo that secured my invite to Melt's soft opening this weekend. We arrived close to 9 and managed to miss the dinner rush as a result. The restaurant was thinning out and we were seated immediately. Right off the bat, I liked the ambiance of this location better than its Short North counterpart. The mural in particular was, in my opinion, vastly superior. It is a nod to Ohio music, with a very rock, even punk, bent. Seminal, yet largely unknown bands like the New Bomb Turks, for whom the New Bomb Turkey is named, are featured alongside legends like the Pretenders. There are 3 walls of giant windows looking out onto surrounding Easton Gateway and the dining area looks to be a bit larger. The bar is shorter, but that's not too indicative because I'm not sure I've ever seen a bar as long as the one in Short North. The draft list was nearly identical to ShoNo, and of course the menu was. Same great food, same music, same theme with the weird plastic Santas, jack-o-lanterns and the like. I realized that none of the TVs were particularly large, which I have to think is on purpose. Four televisions, but they can't be bigger than 42 or so inches. Sports are always playing, but it's kind of a side note. Got the hangover fries to start. You just can't go wrong with vegetarian poutine. For the first time, I had the vegan chorizo and potato hash, and wasn't disappointed, although it wasn't quite as spicy as I might have liked. Finished my meal off with a deep fried twinkie that I wasn't sure I could stomach, but before I knew it, my plate was empty. And despite everything save alcohol being on the house, I still got to use my cheesy club card for the drink bill. What guys, these Melt folks!

I think Melt was a victim of expectations for me. It feel into the "good, not great" category. My giant sandwich was tasty, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't mind-blowing like I'd been lead to believe it would be. It' was also very dark inside. Maybe it's the old-fogey in me coming out, but that was a bummer. The guy at the table next to use literally used a flashlight to read the menu. I wish I had had one on me. Enough with the negativity. An expansive menu of grilled cheese sandwiches and a pretty damn decent beer list highlight the Melt experience, of course. I got The Dude Abides which was very tasty indeed, if not a little difficult to actually eat due to the size. I have a feeling most if not all of the sandwiches here are like that. The Mrs. got the Wake and Bacon and it was pretty tasty too. The little one got peanut butter and jelly and it was tasty as well. They initially brought her a Peanut Butter and Banana full sandwich accidentally (not sure if it was our fault or theirs), but they corrected it quickly and made sure we were charged the correct amount, so no worries. Service was above average and food came out quick which is always nice when you're dining with a Toddler. Excited to have the option close by since every time we've tried to go to the Lakewood location in Cleveland there's been a four hour wait and we avoid the campus area.

Melt was on my list to try after a friend raved about it. It wasn't exactly what I expected. This isn't your 'comfort food' grilled cheese. This is Hulk-a-mania, grilled cheese on superthrusters. Tomato soup on the side? You won't have room for a side... The Easton location is BUSY but we were seated right away at the bar. I had the Korean War Pig and it was enormous and delicious with tons of kim chi and pork to boot. My friend had the monte cristo and it was also great. The service was nothing special; just bar maids slinging beer and sammies. I'm sure it's better if you have table service. Overall, restaurants that feel more personal are a bit my speed. This place has the 'get these sandwiches out fast so we can squeeze in another turn' feel. It's also not somewhere you'd become a regular. These sandwiches are night-ruiners...you're just SO FULL afterward!

Went there again today for lunch. Had the Korean War Pig sandwich. Another large sandwich that could not be finished and I didn't even order and appetizer. This was another solid and super flavorful sandwich. It had the marinated pulled pork (they say it is Korean BBQ sauce but I don't think it tasted liked any Korean BBQ sauce I've had; it was still good though) on top of two thick slices of smoked bacon. And it was all topped off with chopped kimchee and smoked Gouda (the default cheese is Muenster). I thoroughly enjoyed this variation on a grilled cheese even though the bottom slice of bread had gotten soggy already by the time the sandwich made it to the table. Normally, this is a problem for me but it tasted so good, I didn't care.

Delicious huge sandwiches. Come hungry or be prepared to take home a midnight snack. The sandwiches are super creative and monstrous. Almost too big. Not an every week kinda place but maybe once every month or 2. I suggest the Parma Italy.

Been to Lakewood location several times and it's always good, but the Easton location was disappointing. The fries were not fresh or crispy. Sandwiches were just kind of mediocre. We had a fried green tomato melt and a cheesesteak melt. Soggy on the bottom which means maybe they didn't get served as quickly as they should have been. Really bummed. We were psyched to have one so close to us.

I had mixed feelings about the food here. I tried the Cleveland Cheese Steak melt and it was mediocre. I ended up being sick for most of the night. I can't say whether it was the food itself or something else but it seemed a little too coincidental. I may try it again but no time in the near future.

I would like to say that I am rating the restaurant for my experience there. I've tried twice to go there with my family and have now given up. The first time was a Sunday evening. We thought we would try it out a couple of weeks ago after hearing about that it was open at Easton. When we arrived and walked past the windows to the door, we saw about a third of the tables empty and thought it would be quick to get seated. Nope. We were told that it would be a 50-60 minute wait. (Why when you have so many tables empty?!?) I planned ahead this time and called just now for call-ahead seating. The girl on the phone just simply blurted "we don't do call-ahead or reservations." There was no other offer from her and no "I'm so sorry, but we usually aren't too busy at that time" or "you should be okay when you arrive as we only have a X-amount of wait time around then." Nothing.... Just rude. Sorry Melt, you lost this family as customers. And I am willing to wager that you'll lose a lot more with the way you you treat your profit sources (aka. customers).

Stopped in 12/26/2014. Wait time was approx 25 min which can be expected for a newly opened restaurant, menus are available at the door and that helps to decide what to order while you wait. Good beer selection, service was excellent and the After school special ( Fried Bologna and cheese) was superb! Few can eat the whole sandwich because they are huge but I did. I give Melt a very solid 4 stars the only issue I would have is the fries were way too salty to eat, I left them on my plate. Definitely will return for another visit but will sub the fries with something else. Huge Bologna and cheese sandwich big pile of salty fries and a Fatheads Head Hunter IPA about 19 bucks. Very satisfied.

New Melt location, gotta try it! Overall I think I like this Melt location a little better than the Short North. I am not going to get into the debate of suburbs vs. downtown, however there is something nice about being able to find ample parking when trying to get my grilled cheese on. Immediately this Melt looks like the 4 others I have been to. Granted, I did not spend any time in the lobby to scrutinize the murals, but the dining area was pure Melt. I feel like the area was much more bright and open feeling, probably due to the huge windows. The food at Melt has been talked about ad nauseam. In my opinion, you really need to set expectations before going in. I am not vegetarian, vegan, or a health food nut at all so I cannot attest to their attempt at healthy options. Really though, you shouldn't be in that mindset when walking in to Melt. I won't preach about this any longer, but it should be understood what Melt is known for: giant grilled cheeses, greasy fries, huge portions, and a menu that attempts to have fun. For this visit, I ordered the Potato Bacon Bomb - sandwich of the month. I love the monthly sandwiches because they have items I wouldn't normally order from the menu and they always turn out to be delicious. The PBB was no exception. Covered in decadent scallion sour cream, generous bacon and potato mush, I really loved it. I took half home to the wife and she loved it too. Win-win.

Love the idea of a place completely dedicated to grilled cheese. Unfortunately, Melt just doesn't hit the mark for me. I've been a few times really trying to love it, but I always leave feeling like I'm completely grease saturated and like I could have made something at home with double the flavor and half the cost. My advice: skip it unless you're drunk and really want some junk food.

My husband and I were in town visiting my BFF for the weekend and she took us to Melt for lunch. It was amazing!!! I highly recommend the Mac and cheese appetizer. I don't know what the sauce was on top but we practically licked the plate clean! The mozzarella cheese wedges were incredible too. I ordered the Cleveland Cheese Steak and it was great! I couldn't even make it through the first half of my sandwich so we have plenty of leftovers. I love the decor and the host and our server were both friendly.

The service was pretty good, and friendly. The atmosphere is a little kitschy but I appreciated the Ohio memorabilia everywhere. Not sure the temperature is alway kept on arctic, but I was freezing. Food wise everything was tasty. The Korean War Pig was so good I wanted to smash the whole thing but it's a huge sandwich.

I love these mass sandwiches, they have so much flavor. I think I'm gonna have try them all. Yeah you get a lot but I'm a fatty so fuck it! My fries were perfect which sucked cause all I could eat was half my sandwich!

I have been excited to try this place for about a month. I had planned on trying the N. High street location but after I found out about this location I was so excited, it's much closer to home. Anyway, for starters I had the wild tofu "wings." One word: BOMB! The tofu "wings" are absolutely and positivity awesome! I dipped mine in vegan ranch sauce. My carnivore friend is a fan of it too. I will come back and back and back for the wild tofu "wings." For my main I wanted the vegan burger but the very cute, friendly and enthusiastic waiter Zach peeked my interest in the mushroom melt, with vegan cheese of course. It comes with fries and a slice of pickle. By the time I got to it though, I was almost completely full from the fries and "wings". I had a few bites and I wasn't feeling it:/. It wasn't terrible just too messy, and kind of slimy, kind of a weird smell too, too mushroomy I guess. I should have listened to my friend because he advised me to get the vegan burger, he knew I wouldn't like the mushroom sandwich. Anyway, I will be back to try the vegan burger and other vegan (VG) items on their menu. They clearly mark the vegetarian and vegan items on the menu, which I always appreciate from restaurants. Also they have this challenge...like a huge cheese sandwich with 13 cheeses, it's ridiculously insane! Lol good luck to those who dare to try the almost impossible challenge. The prizes are cool but the punishment will be sick! Gross!

After a bad experience at the downtown Melt (horrible service, soggy fries, but good sandwich), we decided to try the new location that is closer to our house. Both locations shared the problem of having beer menu's that were nearly impossible to read because the print was stuck to its protective plastic. I told our server that I couldn't read most of the beer menu, and he just nodded and asked if I knew what I wanted. Yes-- I wanted a menu that I could read. The rest of the service followed that same example. He didn't really listen to anything and I was actually a little surprised that he got our order mostly right. He forgot the salad that was ordered by our friend . Whomever plated my daughter's meal tossed a pickle with a lot of pickle juice on her place. The fries and sandwich soaked up the juice and made them "soggy and disgusting" and she was unable to eat most of it --she hates, hates, hates pickles. I gave them two attempts to live up to their reputation--they failed both times. We will not be back.

This location is hit or miss.. It seems like the food comes out too fast, as if it's been sitting there. The restaurant itself is FREEZING. I hate sitting at a table because I have to keep my coat on. Good food, but surprisingly unpredictable. Wait staff is fab though - awesome service.

Melt offers many choices of excellent grilled cheese sandwiches and excellent craft beer. Their service is also very good. During peak hours (6-8 on weekends), the wait at the restaurant can get pretty long so I recommend going there at an off peak time. Make sure you ask about their 'Melt of the Month'. It's usually something seasonal, creative, and amazing! Chicken and Waffles, TMNT, and Thanksgiving Sandwich just to name a few. With decent prices ($10-12 for a giant sandwich) and a nice atmosphere, I definitely recommend Melt for a trendy night out.

This was my first time. Started off not good when the waiter told us they were out of a lot of food due to the holidays. I didn't impact us as we ordered sandwiches. They were huge portions and tasted very good. Darker interior but interesting eclectic decor. A little pricey for sandwiches but large portion I ate for lunch the next day. I would go back again

This was my first time. My friend and I went there on a Wednesday night. We rolled up around 640ish. The place was busy and bumping, but we did not have to wait for a seat. We had the perogi appetizer, mushroom melt and backyard bbq. Sandwiches come with fries. The food was good. Almost pretty good. The fries were top notch - graffiti burger (rip) style fair fries. I am Ohioan. I love my fries. Appetizer pretty good - you get 2 perogies per order. Sandwiches were good too, but overwhelming. They are huge. The portions are huge. Most of the people inside eating were huge. Next time, I would consider splitting a sandwich w someone. If you are still hungry, you can have dessert. Oh wait, they don't have desserts. Or they did, but none of them had the words "chocolate" or "cake" in them. Apparently they have tons and tons and tons of alcohol, but I don't drink w dinner. I was so full after eating less than half a sandwich that I was deliriously looking around and all I could think of was the word "sloth." I would go again if you were buying.

I'd been to Melt on High Street, so I knew about the menu and portion sizes and great beer selection. We were seated, drink orders taken by a friendly waiter, drinks out, app orders taken...the way things are supposed to go at a restaurant. Then our appetizers came out, and literally as I cut into my first bite, I saw our food coming. When I said something to the server, I got a half-assed "sorry." Mine was the last plate to be served. When I said something to that server, he passive-aggressively pulled the food back, saying "do you want me to take it back?" I said something about not being like that and took my food. When I said something to our waiter, he gave a half-ass "sorry...don't know what happened." My sense was that the wait staff couldn't be bothered to care. They were all too hip to be waiting table. But they're being paid to wait table. I know, I know...this is more of a kitchen problem than a server problem. But the servers' handling of the kitchen problem was subpar. And I'm tired of going there to pay for hot food only to have to eat half of it cold the next day 'cuz the portions are Man-vs.-Food-esque. Won't go to the Easton location again. Might go to High Street if others want to.

  • Stephanie P.

So many food options - definitely decide if you want pork, cow, or chicken before arriving. It'll help narrow down the menu! All of the wait staff were wonderful. Only downfall was the long wait on a week night. But the food was worth it and I'll be back!

I found my first Melt experience to be very weird. The cold weather outside made its way inside and it was very uncomfortable. So much so that I ate with my jacket on. I sat at the bar and was in a daze while looking at the décor. The walls are full of plastic blow molds that were lit up of Christmas, Halloween and Easter lawn decorations. Interesting. Then the music which was cranking ranged from Led Zeppelin and Guns N Roses to some Don Ho Hawaiian music. Strange. The menu is VERY busy and in the smallest of print. The food was ok. I was hoping for so much better. The experience was made worse because of an off duty worker there who was at the bar and getting very drunk. Numerous times were all heard of his two previous DWI's and how he needs to not finish his current drink. He was pestering the currently on duty staff who were good but should have had him leave. Especially after the numerous F Bombs from his increasingly loud mouth. I really wanted to like this place so I am kind of bummed. I think this will be my first and last trip to the new Melt in Easton.

Go. Just go.

  • Matt W.

Melt is a celebration of overweight American wannabe hipsters. Brown, deep-fried flavorless goo is shoveled out in a parade of exceptional mediocrity. The one redeeming quality was the friendly service.

So many food options - definitely decide if you want pork, cow, or chicken before arriving. It'll help narrow down the menu! All of the wait staff were wonderful. Only downfall was the long wait on a week night. But the food was worth it and I'll be back!

Gross!

I had heard they had a Monte Cristo sandwich here similar to what I used to get at Bennigans. Oh my gracious! This sandwich is so huge and so awesome. It is melt in your mouth goodness. Service has been great. Atmosphere very fun. Highly recommend.

The wait staff was top notch, the Moscow Mule was delicious.....the hair in my food was not so fabulous. Nothing ruins a meal faster than that. *vomit*

Worst Melt I have visited. Unprofessional, sloppy-looking staff, AWFUL coffee, and just an overall dingy place compared to the exciting environment downtown Columbus and cleveland.

I had mixed feelings about the food here. I tried the Cleveland Cheese Steak melt and it was mediocre. I ended up being sick for most of the night. I can't say whether it was the food itself or something else but it seemed a little too coincidental. I may try it again but no time in the near future.

I find it unnecessary to charge extra for a side of ranch dressing with your meal. Overall, food is good, but high in calories.

And I am willing to wager that you'll lose a lot more with the way you you treat your profit sources (aka. customers).
