I had been waiting to try M for three and half years now so my expectations were high. The dining room is beautiful. Sheer curtains divide the larger room into smaller spaces. Our table of 6 had its own space overlooking the river. Spectacular! Our waitress was very friendly and helped us decide on cocktails. I had to try the Black Orchid. The cocktail was tasty but very sweet so be prepared. I had the salmon feature which was the traditional menu salmon prepared with bamboo rice and frisée salad. It was full of flavors and textures that lived up to my expectation. The chocolate lava cake with in house caramel ice cream was divine. What a great way to end the meal! Will try happy hour next time I visit.

I've now been to M twice now and both times were absolutely lovely. On my first visit I decided to order the sea scallops which came out at just the right temperature and to my glee with the right texture. The flavor profile for the whole dish was rather fantastic, as the mix of corn spoon bread, grape tomatoes, and haricot verts came together with the sauce. I believe if memory serves the presentation even included some pop corn which was unique. On my second visit I kept with the seafood theme and ordered the Salmon. While this didn't knock off the sea scallops as the reigning champion for me it was still quite impressive in its own right. The salmon has it's own robust set of tastes that interact well including mushroom, tomato fondue, and citrus (in the sauce). As I have written in other reviews I tend to judge restaurants in this particular market segment rather stringently in regard to the quality of their Old Fashioned making skills. In this case M does not get a star knocked off as they did an excellent job with the cocktail. To add to that they seem to have a pretty reasonable scotch selection, so they clearly understand how to win my heart over.

This review is long overdue. I actually went here, or should say was happily taken here, for my birthday a couple months ago. It was amazing!! From the moment we walked in, we had a fantastic experience. The maître d' knew it was my birthday and asked me how my day was. He then escorted us to a private booth with a great view of the restaurant. We ordered a medley of dishes and were not disappointed. Each dish was better than the next. My favorites of the night were the black orchid martini (beautiful to look at and wonderfully sweet) and the coffee and donuts dessert (which was complimentary for my bday!). One of the donuts fell during transport and the server brought us two more!! We were beyond stuffed by the end of the meal but in the best way possible. It's a bit pricey but this is one of those places where I can, without reservation, say that you get what you pay for! Some of the dishes are probably more worth it than others (the king crab, for example, was delicious but probably not worth $29 for an appetizer). Overall though, I give this place a solid 5 (+).

Celebrated my birthday with dinner at M, and overall it was a good experience. Our reservation was a 8pm. When we arrived at 7:57, I joked with my boyfriend that they wouldn't seat us because we were 3 minutes early. Turns out, they were having a busy night. They asked us to have a seat in the bar, and they would come find us. 10 minutes at the bar and we finally got a drink menu. 10 minutes later and the bartender returned to get our order. An additional 10 minutes go by before our cocktails are delivered, with apologies. So...we're 30 minutes behind our reservation time and still not seated. I ordered the Black Orchid, and it was very sweet but perfectly delicious. He ordered a bourbon concoction from the menu which he also enjoyed. 40 minutes after our reservation time, we are asked to follow a hostess to our table. Our server was with us promptly, and proceeded to give fantastic service the rest of the night. I ordered scallops, he ordered the "steak in a bowl". I also ordered wine, requesting that the staff make a pairing to go along with the scallops - it was spot on. The "steak in a bowl" was phenomenal. The scallops were better than OK, but not the best I'd ever had. Desserts were fabulous as well. I had the chocolate lava cake, and my boyfriend ordered the coffee & donuts. Overall, the service was fabulous and the food was very good. Negatives were the 40 minute wait past reservation time, and the super bro-tastic douchenozzle berating his wife all evening at the table next to us. While that's not the restaurant's fault, it certainly didn't help the evening along. The review is short of 5 stars because of the extended wait past the reservation time and the slow bar service to start the evening. A perfect place for celebrations, and we'll likely consider going back in the future.

Very disappointed in our dinner during restaurant week. Our reservation was for 7:30, we didn't sit down until 8:15. I know that it's very busy during RW, but don't overbook then. Service was great, no issue there. Food was very average. The tomato soup was just ok, a bit salty, and not as good as last few times we have been. I ordered the Beef Short Rib, gf the salmon. Time in between soup and meal was about 30 minutes. When they finally arrived, they brought two salmon dishes, of course I said something, they immediately brought out the short rib and it was lukewarm. I almost sent it back, but figured it would take much longer so still ate it. The meat was tender, but was warm/cold. The mashed potatoes were warm/cold. My gf's salmon was delicious. They forgot my ice cream with the lava cake. It was tasty, along with the Creme Brulee. Her wine was great, but 3.50 for Pepsi?? We didn't end up getting our car until a bit after 10. It was my worst experience here the few times I have been-Better step your game up M or I will have to spend my $ elsewhere during Restaurant Week.

My husband took me here for my birthday. The ambiance was so romantic & sexy. Such pretty drapery. The valet was perfect, we checked our coats, the food was amazing & the service was superb. We are impressed. We got the ravioli for an appetizer. I got the black orchid cocktail & salmon and my husband got surf&turf sushi. Wow! Soooo good. Then I got a delicious lava cake Bday dessert with a candle (on the house!) I felt like a princess. Nicest restaurant!

Ok. My wife and I came back here to give it another shot and we left with very mixed feelings. First, the bad: We had to wait over 30 minutes AGAIN for our reserved table. WTF. Again, if you're a flagship and you're expecting top dollar, I am NOT going to wait 30+ mins for a table that YOU promised would be ready earlier. I had a chat with the manager who apologized profusely and things went very well from there. However, why waste resources on redeeming an experience when you could have just had a great one to begin with? OK, now the good: We were seated within 5 mins of me talking to the manager. We were placed in a giant booth facing the restaurant, which was also nice, and we had probably one of the BEST servers (Tiffany) one could ask for. She was upbeat, personable, and did a great job turning the night around with her impeccable and timely service, smile and attitude. We had the King Crab appetizer again because it was so good the last time we had it. Anything drowned in butter is awesome in my book and this did not disappoint. Bread service was also fantastic, warm sourdough with soft butter and sea salt (flavored?). Wife had the bronzino, which I thought had a great balance of flavor profiles and textures. It was a delight and cooked perfectly. I had the chilean sea bass, which was also very good. The broth reminded me of wonton soup (even though it says thai broth) and the shrimp dumplings, while small and scarce (2) were also prepared very well. The sea bass was meaty and buttery. Full of flavor and had a wonderful melt in your mouth experience. We also had Tiffany choose our dessert for us, and she brought out 6 mini cookies with the coffee and donuts. Word to the wise, the thing that looks like an espresso, is not liquid, you have to use a spoon. I just saved you from looking like a total noob (unlike me). The beignets were really good, but had a bit too much cinnamon/sugar coating, it was a little overwhelming. The sauces were on point. Chocolate Chip cookies, well, what can you say? Perfection with the whipped cream. Finally, we were comped our appetizer due to the wait (a given) but we had mentioned our frustration to the bar while we waited for a table and one of the bartenders brought over a drink my wife and I were considering but decided not to order. She found us at our table and gave it to us on the house as well. I didn't catch her name, but I was grateful and impressed with her attention to our situation and trying to help rectify a situation even though it wasn't the bar's fault. Kudos to her and Tiffany for turning around what started out as a poor night out!

M at Miranova goes above and beyond expectations! It may be easy to miss when you're driving, parking garage isn't as clear either but those are just minor details. Upon arriving, it was freaking beautiful! The ceiling, the paintings as well as the layout of the restaurant is creative and remarkable. The employees are great, they know their products really well and love to talk to you about whatever you're curious about on the menu. Even the manager comes around just to make sure everything is going well. As for the food, best salmon I've ever had! The salmon is seasoned and cooked to your order. We also ordered the chicken. The sauce the chicken was covered in was excellent. The proportions were reasonable so you won't leave hungry. We still ordered dessert even though we were pretty stuff. The creme brûlée was a great way to end the meal, make sure to ask for their sugar cookies. The sugar cookies topped off with some creme is heaven on earth. We definitely plan on going again, enjoy yourself!

I admit, 60% of this 5 star review is based on the fact that they serve molten chocolate cake, and it was perfect. There is not many restaurants in Columbus that serve this fav dessert of mine (most like cap city, cameron american bistro serve a warm chocolate cake but NOT a molten choc cake). So, there you go, the five star. But also, the place was nice and beautiful, without the snobbish atmosphere. Server was attentive and friendly. I ordered the foie gras for appetizer, and steak for entree. M is not a steakhouse, but I can tell you, this steak was far much delicious that a steak at some of the steakhouses in town.

I came here a couple weeks back for dins with the bf. I have a more detailed review of the dishes with pics on my blog ( melonchef.com/2014/07/m-… ) but here's a rundown. Ambiance: intimidating. It feels like a swanky club in Vegas perhaps, but everything seems a little too...perfectly planned if that makes any sense. I did feel especially fancy. Service: good. Pace was great, they checked in with us often but just enough, and overall there weren't any faults. Food: good, not amazing perhaps but very solid 1) Black orchid drink - my favorite item of the night. It tasted like lychee (even though it has no lychee in it o.O). Ice sphere dude in the middle looks cool, and it melted very slowly so the ice didn't significantly dilute it by the time I drained my drink. 2) Bread - tasted okay, looks awesome 3) Three cones with salmon gravlax- basically seafood salad in waffle cones. Cool but a tad pricy for what it is. Caviar was nice I guess. Sweet waffle cones were strange. Salmon gravlax was strange. 4) Veal mignon - boy's dish, really great. I liked the veal cheeks especially. 5) Sea scallops - good. Popcorn was strange in concept but didn't taste strange with the dish, surprisingly. 6) Mac and cheese - good. I probably could've ordered this alone and been completely satisfied (cept that it's all carbs and fat I guess, so my scallops were healthier). 7) Coffee and donuts - unnecessary to order, I don't think M shines in their dessert menu. I would've preferred a stop at Jeni's instead. Overall, a solid meal. The mains were great and everything else was okay with no duds. I do like this place, although I think I prefer The Refectory more for a special occasion.

My husband and I dined at M this past weekend with some family. We went in with high expectations, all of which were met but one. I had the Caesar salad, 8oz Filet, and ordered the lava cake. Best steak I've ever had. The service was great and very entertaining, I might add. The 1 shortcoming was the restrooms. What good is a delicious and beautifully prepared meal if you come back to the table with no appetite? I've seen nicer, well kept restrooms in highway rest areas. In order to get the soap, I had to literally slide my hand between the despensers and sink, touching both, which is unsanitary. In this case there was NO SOAP. Florescent lighting, and only 1 of the chipped metal 'stalls' was usable and it was dirty. I understand that M doesn't have a restroom of their own and you are sent to the hallway of the Miranova to use theirs, but this type of restaurant should not just be a meal, but an experience. As delicious as the food was, I'd hesitate to return due to that experience.

If Columbus had a Michelin star restaurant, this would be it! The ambiance is great, perfect for a romantic night out. The food equally impressive and the staff very warm and welcoming - which is surprising for a usually pretentious- type crowd(yes I am a food snob so this may include me at times:) There really hasn't been anything to negative comment on the 3 times I have been there. I have had the scallops twice because they are awesome! The three cones are inventive and delicious and the black orchid definitely a must try if you like St. Germaine. Highly recommend!

One of the best meals I've ever had. The salmon was fantastic, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The maple crème brûlée was also delicious and was a satisfying end to the whole experience. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about everything on the menu and made great wine recommendations. Since it is on the expensive side, I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for somewhere to go for a special occasion.

A wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion! I ended up in Columbus for my birthday because my fiance was traveling for work and I wanted to celebrate with him. He made the reservation and refused to tell me where we were going. M is an absolutely beautiful restaurant. It has corner booths, large white sheets hanging from the ceiling. It was a beautiful place. We walked in and were created by the hostess who found out it was my birthday. Unlike others here, there was no other mention of it later in the meal, but since we were going to Jeni's afterward, that was alright with us. My fiance and I went with a grazing approach as opposed to appetizer, main, sides, etc. Overall, I would say that the food was hit or miss. First, the complementary sourdough bread was nothing special. I'll admit, I'm a bread snob, and since I eat bread so rarely, I really want it to be good. This was just alright. Next, I ordered the caterpillar roll, which was spicy tuna, tempura shrimp, cream cheese, avocado? onions?- I can't remember the veggies. It was good, especially with the sauces on the side, but we had more coming so I paced myself. Next, we got the wagyu burgers, which were good. The waiter spent a while talking about how special the fries were- they are soaked for a day, etc. Then they turned out to be just ok. Next, we ordered the mac & cheese and the asparagus while my fiance ordered the tuna (which is flown in fresh every day). The mac and cheese was great. The asparagus, not so much. It was overly steamed and mushy and the egg on top was not exactly what I was expecting. The tuna was good, but nothing special, especially after the waiter built it up. All in all, a pleasant dinner at a reasonable price.

Amazing filet mignon and the Macaroni & Cheese is to die for!! I was looking for a great place to take my fiance to dinner for our anniversary and this was highly recommended. When we first got there we were not sure we were in the right place (can one truly trust a GPS in this day and age?) but a valet came out and verified we were and parked our car. The place is beautiful and they really do a great job of making sure you are taken care of here. It's nice but just as important it's intimate and not too loud. Tables are not piled on top of one another. The food was incredible and of course a bit pricey but it's well worth it if you don't mind paying for quality!

I came here tonight for an Anniversary dinner with my boyfriend and it was phenomenal. M did not disappoint us one bit. Service was awesome! Our server's name was Nigel, he was super friendly and always had a smile and great suggestions. As weird as it sounds, but I'm a huge person on the quality of water and may I tell you, M's water is THE BEST water I have ever tasted. On to the more important things. THE FOOD - We started off with the Caterpillar roll, best sushi I've had in a while. The ginger that came along with it complimented the sushi perfectly. I got the Scallop entree and it was okay, but the price was a little too high for just four scallops. My boyfriend got the Chicken entree and it was delicious and filling. Would definitely come back! :)

My husband and I came for an early (5:15) dinner Saturday night for restaurant week. We arrived a bit too early so we waited a few minutes for valet, but had no problem with that. We were seated right at 5:00, which is when they open. They have a patio but we forgot to ask for that. We had been here once before, for an anniversary several years ago. It's very pretty here. We were fairly dressed up, since it is an upscale place. Side note: It's always disappointing to see other patrons in a) shorts and t-shirt, and b) a ball cap. Bill E. had the same meal I did, and his food descriptions in his review ring true. My husband and I enjoyed our meal very much. Our cocktails and wine were delicious. Our server (I am sorry I cannot remember his name) was wonderful. We enjoyed talking to him and he did a great job. I posted pictures but unfortunately ate the creme brulee before I remembered I wanted to take a photo.

I came here with my VP and her husband for dinner on Thursday night for restaurant week and M didn't disappoint. We were greeted promptly and seated promplty in David's section. He went through the restaurant concept and allowed us to peruse the menu. When it came time for ordering David made several suggestions and they were home runs. The bread that was brought out was a sourdough with softened whipped butter and smoked red sea salt. First course for me was the tomato soup with a mini goat cheese sammy in the bowl, the soup was very good, it had great tomato depth. My vp ordered the sushi and loved it and her husband ordered the Caesar and proclaimed it was one of the best he has ever had and he wanted to buy some of the dressing. Main course I ordered Salmon which is what David suggested and it was delicious, perfectly cooked with house made gnocchi and more, it was the perfect portion and paired greatly with the wine David suggested. My boss and her hubby ordered the short rib and it was so tender accompained with roasted root veggies and mushrooms. Dessert was divine two of us ordered the Lemon creme brulee and the other ordered the chocolate cake. The lemon creme brulee had a nice size portion was cooked perfectly with a nice burnt sugar crust and accompained with a linzer cookie. I had parked in the garage since no street parking was open, I asked if M validated parked and even though they didn't David found a card to get me out of the garage free. The regular menu reads very well and we all commented M is a gem in Columbus. I highly recommend M to everyone.

We went here for a celebration dinner. Its a little bit outside of downtown. Just follow your GPS. There isn't much else around it so you aren't likely to get lost. We went in. Its a very pretty place. More typical for a place in a city like New York or LA to me than Columbus. It was almost completely empty on a Thursday night. The bar area was very nice and we want to back to try happy hour. The good: Our table of five was seated in a little area that was surrounded by white curtains so we had some privacy. This was awesome. We also had a view of the river and city. Also awesome. The drinks were very fun. My fiancés had a flower inside of a giant ice-cube! (Its their signature drink) and everyone at the table tried a different cocktail. All were good and all were fun. We split sushi appetizers. Typical sushi but actually a reasonable price. The entrees were all very pretty (see pictures). The mediocre: My ahi tuna was in cubes. It was over seared on every side so to get to the rare/medium rare tuna in the middle (the good stuff!) I had to get through a lot of wasted over cooked fish :(. Entree was still good though. The bad: When we parked ($7 Valet... I think this was the only option), they said they were so non-busy they would just park in front of the restaurant. He took my car and literally drove it 100 feet to park. Literally. Convenient to get out, but still cost $7. Its an expensive place. Expect to pay. Also, the bathrooms are outside of the restaurant. Not a big deal. Just odd. Great restaurant for a special occasion or if you feel like you want to splurge. Probably not worth the money for me to go back outside of happy hour (and by not worth the money, I really mean, I don't have the money).

Superb service. Mildly pricy for content but it's worth it for a special occasion or a treat. Tuna is amazing and the Chilean sea bass is to die for. Subtle and tasty as hell. Cones for starter - very varied and a nice light option. Drinks are varied and the cocktails are truly impressive. The margarita is spicy and the smoked salt on the rim is worth a mention on its own. Valet parking or a garage two floors under. Go. It's worth it.

COLUMBUS, OH: Excited to try this innovative New American restaurant with soaring ceilings and intimate details. Greeted by a friendly hostess and server. I had the fortune to try several menu options: Foie: (4.5 stars) This was a pairing of foie and pork over lentils. The lentils were nothing special, but the foie and pork were exquisite. Scallops: 5 Stars-perfectly cooked large diver scallop on a spicy ratatouille and pea purée. Three Cones: 5 star presentation/3 star taste, like a seafood salad in a sweet wafer. Lobster Mash Potatoes (3 stars): these were buttery and very plain whipped potatoes with a generous helping of lobster on top. Felt a little lazy. Truffle Mac and Cheese (5 stars): These were delicious, but I didn't taste any truffle; the rosemary overpowered any other seasoning. I like "rosemary Mac and Cheese" so I enjoyed the dish, but I didn't detect any truffle taste. Service and ambience were 5 stars! Excellent!

I have never had anything bad to say about a Carmen Mitchell's but this place was awful. I had a large group go for happy hour when they open this weekend after the Latin festival @ 5pm .. we were the only large group in there for awhile.. happy hour is from 5-7 so you know that means if we want to get your drinks on we better order, well that didn't happen I wanted to order 2 drinks at a time just because I know that taking ordering for a large group will take forever but the server was like "its against the law to order two drinks @ a time. " what!! from there the serves was bad, from so many people bringing food out to us to different people bringing drinks out to us. I mean we could not even remember who our server was because we hardly never saw her and if we did see her we were asking for something that was forgotten and then still never getting what we ask for. When it was time to get our checks all hell broke loss, the server took almost two hours to bring us our checks to when she finally brought them every check was either messed up or right.. and when ask to correct the issue the server then would say " O I'm so sorry let me fit that". so we gave her another chance it happens.. then after waiting again for another 30 mins to an hour just to get our checks, the serve still came back with wrong checks. After 3 times of having our checks wrong we had people just walk out because we were there so long just waiting for checks. We had been there since 540pm and did not leave until almost 830pm and only had one or two drink for happy hour. When finally ask for the manager, which never came cause she was so busy which again it wasn't busy at all. We ask for the mgr 5 times to the servers to the point that the server kept saying " please I don't want to get in trouble with my manager, because she was afraid to admit she was in the wrong or serves was horrible on her end." Finally after we have a HR person in our mist and a lawyer, they both said to the server you need to stop saying that to us, when someone request a manager you need to get your manager, finally a manager came out and spoke to us.. and we explain everything that went wrong from the time we got here to the time we left. All the manager could do is say I'm sorry, " I was busy helping with y'all ticket, to I came in the middle of the situation way to late, I should have gotten in the middle way sooner. I mean what manager doesn't came as soon as you request them at a high paid classy restaurant such as the CM!!! at the end of all this she said lets come to a poz situation "what can we do to make this better? " finally we all agreed you can comp us all for our meals and drinks and we would like all of our $$$ back.. which remember there was almost 10 ppl in our group.. (The mgr did comp us for everything and $$$ back and on top of that 2 free almost top of the line wine to go) .. I will never be returning.

Always a beautiful experience. Service is impeccable. We always ask for Linda, and she never disappoints. We had a celebratory party of six, and the entire experience lasted just shy of four hours. Started with sushi. Caterpillar roll is now my favorite. Salads. I had the chop, but most had Caesar with white anchovies. All were very pleased. Main courses. If you don't get "steak in a bowl" Rossini style, you are wrong. That being said, the veal mignon and sea scallops were also a huge hit. Desserts. I thought I had died and gone to heaven with the coffee and donuts. I'm not a big sweets fan, so this was just my speed.

Technically I would give this place 4.5 stars. I have been here on more than one occasion, and while I would still highly recommend this restaurant for anyone wanting a fancier dinner in Columbus, not every single experience would be an uncontested 5-stars. For the most part, however, it would be an easy 5-stars. Now, the drill down... Let's begin with their famous frou-frou martini, the Black Orchid - A+++++ on both presentation AND taste. Easily hands down one of the best martini EVER and by far my absolute FAVE martini in the C-bus area. The only down side is that at $12 a pop, it is very easy to start racking up your alcohol tab unknowingly... My girl friends and I were all feeling pretty good sipping away on our 3rd round before our entrees every showed up. Needless to say, the bill was kind of a shocker! Desserts - Very, very good, but not extraordinarily memorable like a lot of restaurants in this price range. I have tried most of the dessert items on their menu, and while I always enjoy every single bite during the dessert round, I don't salivate thinking bout any of the items in particular (unlike Smith & Wollensky's coconut cake, which I dream about sometimes). Food - one word: YYYUUUMMMMMM!!!!! I have successfully eaten my way through half of the appetizer, sushi, and entree items and I must say, can't really go wrong with anything. I would caution against trying the lobster mac 'n cheese though - it is pretty good, but for the price, you are better off with paying the high price for the S&W's version (yes, it is just WAY better). This is not an inexpensive place by any means, and although they will not kick you out for wearing jeans and a t-shirt, you will probably feel out of place, so use this as an opportunity to glam up a little! Bon appetite! :)

M...eh. Service was great, attentive and accommodating. The food was not as great as the price would indicate. The lobster cones tasted a little like the fridge. The shrimp appetizer was tasty, tempura batter was crispy and not overdone. The peach bourbon cocktail was too sweet for my taste, but not bad. My wife got the strip steak and I got the veal. We both ordered medium rare but we both got medium to well done. Disappointing.

This place is still the best in the business. My wife and I recently went to M to celebrate our wedding anniversary and 10 years since our first date. The pork chops were incredible... My wife got a lobster dish. The lobster mac n cheese is always a winner. We got the coffee and donuts dessert (which you simply cannot skip). We will continue to come to M for many years to come.

As a 21 year old OSU fan, parking my car for valet right behind Thad Matta's and seeing him step out (we made eye contact btw) was the perfect start to this evening! Without hesitation, M is my new favorite restaurant in Columbus! I'm going to cut to the chase and mention that this was the best sushi I've ever had! We tried the dragon roll with barbecued eel and it was yummy! Also, Kyle our server was fantastic! He asked if we were dining for any special occasion and I mentioned that it was our 1-year anniversary. At the end of the meal, he let us choose a dessert that was on him! Free desert, romantic ambiance, great service, this place was magnificent!!

There are places that you hear about that are really good, but don't live up to the hype. There are places you leave pissed off because you spent too much money on something that wasn't really worth it. There are places you never want to come back to. M is not any of those places. Instead, it's one of the best dinner's you probably will ever have and it is worth every penny. This is probably hands down the fanciest place I've ever been. If you read my reviews, you can see I stick to the hidden gems; the cheap street eats. My boyfriend and I go out to fancier places about 4 times a year(our birthdays, Valentine's, and Christmas). We have wanted to try M for a long time and it did not disappoint at all. You know this place is fancy because there is no parking lot. It's pretty much all valet. However, if you don't mind walking, there are parking meters less than a block away and they are really close to Bicentennial Park and the Scioto Mile, which you might want to walk around anyway. Anyway, the prices are steep. You are going to spend about $50-$80 per person if you get a drink, an appetizer, and an entree. Which I did. Everything I got tasted delicious, and I tried all my boyfriend's selections and they too were excellent. Cocktails- We are cocktail people. Sure, wine is nice. But I can open up a bottle of wine and pour it into a glass at home. I don't however have all the fancy makings of a good cocktail. My boyfriend had the Perfect Storm, which was Ohio Apple Cider, ginger beer, rum, and velvet falernum. It was a good fall drink, hints of vanilla, cinnamon, and other fall spices. I went with the Black Orchid, which was the coolest drink I've ever had. It had an orb of ice in the glass with a MOTHERFING ORCHID FLOWER frozen into the ice. And it tasted delicious. It was very fresh and fruity and even if it wasn't a fall drink, I enjoyed it so much. Appetizers-For this, we both went with the soup. It was a roasted tomato soup. How they serve it is the coolest part. When it's delivered to the table, there is a little goat cheese sandwich at the bottom of the bowl and no soup. Then, the waiter pours the hot soup over the sandwich from a copper pot tableside. It was very impressive. The soup was amazing. The tomato soup had so much flavor and was so creamy and the goat cheese worked so well with the tomato flavor. Entrees-Boyfriend had the Ahi Tuna with foie gras, vegetables, and a black truffle reduction. It was amazing. We had never had foie gras before and after tasting it, we wish we would have got that appetizer instead of our soups. So good. For my entree, I got the sea scallops with mushroom risotto, lobster-butter sauce, and fennel salad. The scallops were perfect. 3 huge scallops cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth like butter. I rarely get scallops in Ohio, but these were to die for. I woke up the next morning and said to my boyfriend, "I want more of those scallops for breakfast." This was one of my favorite meals in Columbus. I would recommend it to anyone on a special date or just anyone who doesn't mind paying a little extra for a perfect meal. You will not be disappointed. I wish I could afford to come back here more often, for sure.

One word comes to mind for me.... Overrated. Quickly followed by overpriced. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I wasn't overly impressed with the food. The sushi rolls were subpar, even for a place where sushi isn't the specialty. My kale salad was decent and probably the highlight of the meal, along with the Moscow Mule. My entree, the sea bass, was the most disappointing. The fish itself was seasoned okay, but the remainder of the dish was no good. Bland liquid surrounds some very awful tasting and textured shrimp dumplings, then some vegetable chunks and the fish seems to be plopped down into the liquid. The outstanding service (hostess, bartender and our server) is the only reason I opted for 3 stars instead of 2. It's possible that I simply ordered the wrong thing and the restaurant is actually great, but for the price I don't feel you can justify serving anything less than exquisite.

We had a wonderful meal at M. We went there for my Birthday dinner and it was absolutely fabulous. The service was phenomenal and the food was superlative! The atmosphere was simply beautiful and we loved our experience! We highly recommend it for a special occasion or if you just want an amazing meal and experience! We will definitely be back soon!

Solid happy hour menu (5-7pm). I ordered the Wagyu Burger with Steak Fries ($6), tuna sesame roll ($4.75) and a greyhound ($5). Interior feels airy and definitely on the fancier side. Many of the tables offer a good amount of privacy. Would be a nice spot to celebrate something intimate, like an anniversary. Compared to the pretty penny you'd normally have to spend to eat here, the happy hour is a steal! tip: park your car on the main street and walk up (weather permitting) - otherwise it's a mandatory $5 valet once you enter Miranova circle

Another fantastic meal at M. We informed our server that we were on a time crunch due to hockey game, and they absolutely delivered. Ordered and food delivered within 20 minutes, cooked perfectly. Service was attentive, friendly, and helpful. I ordered the "steak in a bowl" and it was fantastic. I was only sad that we didn't have longer to stay and enjoy even more food, especially dessert.

This is the place to go for happy hour if you want to class it up without breaking the bank. They have a cocktail list of 5 to 6 drinks (martini, Moscow mule, Gin Gimlet, etc) all at $5 a piece. To accompany the drinks they have a great list of small plates ranging from $5 - about $10 and they are worth every penny.

If you're looking for a restaurant that will cater to your every need, you will not be disappointed. I dined here with my wife for our anniversary, and the staff and fare were second to none. I must say we enjoyed the entire experience from beginning to end. If you're looking for a restaurant to satisfy that need to feel as if you're the center of the universe.. M will scratch that itch..

One of the best fine dining restaurants in ohio. The steaks are fabulous, the wine list is enormous, and the sushi is worth getting every time. They have good drinks, but I normally drink scotch there and they have great scotch pours (hard to come by seemingly). The three cones appetizer is unique and outstanding. The ambiance is awesome, with very high ceilings, big dividing drapes, and impressive lighting. M is expensive, but worth every penny. If you want to impress a date, take your wife out for her birthday, or get great sushi reasonably priced at happy hour, M will always impress.

My friend and I went there for dinner on Friday. The restaurant is in a great location. The service wasn't nearly what it should have been for a restaurant of this caliber though. The server brought bread out after we had already received and almost finished our appetizer. You would think bread should be one of the first things brought to the table. The meal was fine. Trying to get the check however, proved very difficult. Our server was chatting for at least ten minutes with another table near us so we weren't able to get his attention. We asked a different server who walked by for our check, but still waited. Finally my friend had to walk up to our waiter during his still lengthy chat with the other table and asked him for our check. So after over 20 minutes if waiting, we finally got our check. In addition, the comment card that was included with the check was already filled out with excellent ratings! Needless to say, it is insulting to have a comment card already filled out , presumably by our server (Trevor). Why even bother with comment card if customers can't fill it out themselves?!

Had a business dinner here a few nights ago. I had a chopped salad to start off with which was good not great. We also had the Alaskan king crab appetizer which was very good. The side dishes are not bad, I would recommend the lobster mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. I think it is not worth the price you pay for an entree. I had the Chilean sea bass which is one of their "signature" dishes, again very average. The flavor was underwhelming. Maybe my expectations are high but I think for a place with the name and prestige surrounding this restaurant, I am not impressed. Will probably not be back.

Came here for the first time tonight to celebrate my birthday with my husband and was just not impressed. I had heard so many wonderful things about M and was definitely let down. My husband ordered from the Restaurant Week menu (salmon) and I ordered from the regular menu (scallops). The food was very good, but not worth what you're paying. I've had much better meals at Hyde Park for the same price. But what really killed it for me was the service. Our server started out great, very attentive, offering suggestions, etc. Then our meals arrived and it went downhill from there. We never received the lobster mashed potatoes we ordered and he never offered to get us another drink. For dessert he just assumed I would be sharing with my husband from the RW menu (which I wasn't going to) so he never showed us a dessert menu or even asked if we wanted coffee, port, etc. These just seemed like very basic things that even the most casual restaurants do and the fact that it wasn't done here was very disappointing.

M is magical. M is magnificent. M is marvelous. For six years I've lived in Columbus and heard good things about M. I've wanted to try it, but I've stayed away for fear it would be stuffy, stodgy or pretentious. Last night was my first time experiencing M and I'm happy to say my fears were unfounded. We had a Disney calibre experience - and when I say that, I am paying the ultimate compliment. I'm a huge Disney fan. I love the idea of the "happiest place on earth." I love the perfection of Disney - not a petal or leaf out of place, all cast members (aka staff) flawlessly in character, and the seamless illusion that you've entered a perfect, magical world. Yes, Disney is expensive and out of reach for many - and so is M. That just makes me appreciate it even more when I get to go. Last night, we left the earth behind for a while. We were transported to a lovely, otherworldly plane with exquisite food and drink, impeccable service, and where every whim is catered to with swift and joyful precision. Our server, David, was like a brilliant actor playing a role into which he absolutely disappears. He never broke character - he was charming and splendid. He said "we never say no here" and proved it true. No matter what I asked for, he delivered it effortlessly and graciously to us. The food was amazing. We eat rather well in general - I love truly good food - and this did not disappoint. My drinks were ethereally lovely - I had the grape crush (muddled Concord grapes and lime juice, yum) and the black orchid (a light, citrus concoction poured over an orchid suspended in ice). The ice ball orchid became my precioussss for the evening. It was so beautiful and unique - I never wanted to leave it. I nursed that drink until the last second possible. I still miss my little ice ball orchid. In case you haven't gotten the picture yet, I'm a big kid in a grownup body. I would have hated M if it were all pretentious and stuffy. Instead, it was magic. The manager came over at one point because I had been taking delighted images of our drinks and food. He introduced himself, then grinned and said he had tried to get David, our server, to tell me that taking pictures at M is not allowed (David refused). I thought it was funny and was so happy to see that they have a sense of humor about things. I highly recomend the filet mignon, truffled mac and cheese side, black orchid drink and cracker jack dessert (three adorable, mini creme brulees in vanilla, caramel and peanut butter respectively). But you can't go wrong here - and if you do, just let them know and they will bring you something else. If you don't see something you like on the menu, ask them for something you will like. They won't say no. I wish I could still be sitting at our lovely table at M, people-watching and bubbly with excitement over the incredible food, beautiful drinks and flawless service. But just like Disney, at some point you always have to leave the fantasy and go back home. I'm just glad to know that M exists and that next time we have a special occasion or rare and coveted date night with sitter, we've got a Disney-perfect getaway right here in Columbus. I do still miss my beautiful orchid ice ball, though.

Checked out M at the insistance of a friend who's roommate is a server here. On first impression, the interior looks slightly gaudy and overdone. I don't think there is a parallel in Columbus really, maybe in Miami and some of the restaurants in Vegas, which is kinda what M is going for I believe. We were well taken care of. M has a nice outdoor patio area where we were served our drinks, someone recommended I try the M 'Marquee' which consisted of : Belvedere Cytrus, Cointreau Noir, Agave nectar, Blood orange puree and lemon juice and it was very good. We were then served a sushi platter, I believe one of the kinds was the surf n turf and dont remember what the other was. Wasn't too impressed. I dislike cream cheese in Sushi and the sushi here provided plenty of it. There's way better sushi joints in this city, I'd recommend staying away from it here. For my entree I ordered the filet mignon and it was cooked to perfection. The marinated portobello and seared spinach were good sides. I swapped out the mashed potatoes for some garlic roasted red potatoes (Not on the menu but was told the chef is happy to accomodate requests). My only gripe was that the filet and the sides were way too salty. All in all not a bad experience. I wouldn't return here for a casual weeknight outing, I think the place is pricey and not all that casual and relaxed. Place is great for a celebratory night out, formal date etc. though.

After Marcella, we decided on getting after hour drinks and a nibble at M lounge. From the time we pulled up to the round about to the time we left, the setting was unreal. Just to get there, you have to make a side turn from the main streets and tall buildings, and out of nowhere you pull into a magnificent complex. As I walked down the long corridor to the restaurant, I felt like an elites entering a secret meeting. Miranova just had that secluded and gentry feeling. So I ordered the lobster tacos and blue basil cocktail. The taco was interesting and the shell on the taco was on sweet side. I didn't care too much for the avocado creme fraiche, it just reminded me too much of the fake guacamole dips you get at grocery stores. The blue basil was well made but I felt it was missing some element, maybe just a touch of tart. I think M can take it a step above and infuse their own vodkas instead of using stoli or incorporate some house made bitters. But the drink that really blew me away was the Hot Buttered Rum! I don't order too many toddy drinks but this was just excellent. This drink alone and the great atmosphere at M would be enough reason for me to drive 6 hours.

I took my wife here for her birthday, It was a little hard to find because it was Tucked away in a corner but the valet was only five dollars which was very convenient. The atmosphere was perfect very upscale very romantic worth every penny! Expect to pay for this experience but also expect it to be worth your money and worth the visit! The bathrooms were located around The corner outside the dining room and in the hall of the business it occupies making it somewhat hard to locate, but I was escorted very helpful. The food was very very good you can tell it came from a chef of high-caliber ! The portions looked small but as it turned out they were very satisfying! After enjoying some immaculate lava cake for dessert, we left M completely content and agreed it was the highlight of our night ! I didn't give five stars because it's somewhat hard to find at night being tucked away in a corner and the bathrooms were not in the same area of the restaurant.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the service at this restaurant. Being from Manhattan, I am notoriously picky and hard to please and my Columbus hotel had been such a tragic failure that frankly I didn't know what to expect of this place. The interior is a bit overdone and dramatic -- it felt a bit Miami-esque/trying too hard (I later learned that the builder of the Miranova builds in Miami). Our waiter was wonderful and I was impressed with his attentiveness and skill. Even in NYC where standards are high, it can be hard to find someone who really understands what good service is, and our guy nailed it. The food....was it the most amazing meal I've ever had in my entire life? No. Was it very good and pretty well executed? Mostly. A few dishes were over-salted (like my tuna entree) but I was too busy enjoying the evening with my dinner companion to care. We were so stuffed on the food and wine that we passed on dessert. If you're used to very very high end cuisine, you will find this place to be more middle of the road in terms of food...good, servicable, but not life changing. If you tend to eat at chain restaurants then this place will likely blow your mind. Also, I can't speak to prices since I didn't pay and I barely glanced at the menu but I think they are on-par with prices in the area.

Five stars for M! Ambiance is eclectic and comfortably chic, service was impeccable, the food magnificent - the dining experience overall made me want to be a better person. Highly recommend the 3 Cones, Kobe sliders, Mac-n-Cheese and the Filet Mignon. After dinner, we did indulge the desserts - no one else got close to my lemon creme brûlée once I had a taste of it! One word - Fabulous!

The best Friday Happy Hour in Columbus. If this place intimidates you due to price, Friday between 5-7 is the time to go. They have drink and food specials that are amazing. Just make sure to sit in the bar area to get the specials. Hand-crafted, made from scratch cocktails are only $5 and sushi rolls are also on special (under $10). The Surf and Turf roll cannot be skipped. It is a cooked shrimp tempura rolled with cream cheese, green onion, and then wrapped in a thin strip of Filet. Kris is one of the best bartenders in Columbus and shows that she truly loves her job. She can mix with the best of them. I try to frequent as much as possible for the Surf and Turf roll, but the hospitality and service are great as well. Tip to lessen the expense: instead of paying for the valet ($5), park on the street where the meters are (turned off after 6) and walk the short distance to the restaurant.

I went here with my daughter who was celebrating her 21st birthday and my other daughter. We had a wonderful dinner, with appetizers, cocktails and a free dessert. Service was outstanding, friendly and energetic. The food was great, not huge portions but satisfying and delicious. The only thing that was sort of a bummer was when we left we had to pay $6 for valet parking, there are no other choices to park. After a $300 bill, seems to me they could throw in the parking.

My partner brought me to M on my birthday, my second in Columbus. We sat outside, albeit the winds threatened a good fight with our napkins. But it was June. Sitting inside felt sacrilegious. We ordered the scallops. I don't usually order scallops because few places make them well: soft, almost like pudding. But I assumed it'd be a safe bet here. Unfortunately, my assumptions were wrong. The scallops were hard and lacked flavour. I had higher expectations for the dollar sign they attached their dishes, and they didn't deliver. I will say the service was superb. I wasn't going to make a big deal out of my dislike of the food, but the server noticed and insisted she bring me a different dish. I succumbed and ordered the pork chop, a more universally safe dish; a dish we had shared at Third and Hollywood on my birthday the year before. I wish I could say it turned my experience at M around, but unfortunately no. The sauce was well prepared, but the meat itself was dry and flavourless. They brought out complimentary mashed potatoes with lobster tail which were, well, just weird. But a nice gesture. In the end, the food was mediocre, not terrible. But I was expecting more. We weren't charged for the scallops or the potatoes. In a restaurant I care not at all for ambience; what I value in restaurants is the food; good service should come naturally out of the staff's love for the product. Neither the scallops nor the pork chop felt well prepared, made with love. And that's okay for some folks, but not for me. I forgot to mention the mac and cheese. So good. We may come back for some more of that.

I came here last night for dinner, all by my lonesome. was greeted by a somewhat surly hostess who didn't even want to my my name on the list until I insisted. So I went to the bar and decided to eat there rather than wait 40 minutes for a table. I started with the mini-burgers and an order of their truffled mac and cheese. The burgers were delicious and each had their own set of toppings. And the buns were perfectly sized to the burgers, very tiny. The mac and cheese was a little too cheesey for me but good. I then ordered a Wasabi roll. This didn't live up to expectations. It wasn't bad but wasn't any better than I could get at any sushi bar. And that was enough food for me. All appetizers. I knocked off a star for poor service by both the hostess and the barmaid.

Perfect dinner = roasted beet and goat cheese salad; filet mignon with portabello mushrooms and (gasp) godly horseradish mashed potatoes. Great PNW inspirations from Tillamook Cheese features and a long list of Oregon Pinot Noir's on the menu. Went here for a work meeting and definitely plan to return to try the seared scallops. It was quite possibly the most perfect steak dish I've had - ever.

Ok, here's the deal. I gave this place three stars because the ambiance and decor is awesome. Totally top notch, and kudos to the interior designer. Now for the food... The word "Meh" comes to mind. I had the steak frites, and my guest had the ahi tuna. Tuna was obviously frozen at one point, which is understandable for Ohio. The steak was tough and not cooked to spec. I ordered rare and got something in the range of medium well. It was tough, and there were parts that my steak knife just couldn't cut through. We also go the mac/cheese and creamed spinach sides. Mac/Cheese was really runny and had a sauce that was just orange enough enough to take me back to my college days with the Kraft box and a hot plate. The creamed spinach was, in a nutshell, horrible. The primary taste was bacon. So if you like bacon fat, by all means...order the spinach. But just know that it doesn't taste like spinach, and it doesn't taste like anything but bacon. There must be a lot of bacon in this dish. Maybe if you get a coupon this place would be a good place to eat. Or if you're on an expense account. But I have to imagine that there are other restaurants in Columbus that you could find that maybe don't have the fancy decor but have better food. I'd probably pass on this one.

It's been over a year since I visited M, and as expected, the food was great, the service amazing and the atmosphere unique. The most memorable thing to me was the amount of couples getting engaged on...a WEDNESDAY night! Who freaking proposes in the middle of the week!?? LAME! Anyways, my dinner date had just received a job promotion, so we were out celebrating. Our waitress (admittedly, it was her first day on the job) had difficulties getting our champagne open. Kinda lame but oh well, great other than that. The patio looks nice, but we were there on a typical Columbus day, so it was, of course, raining. Maybe next time?

As far as my experiences go, M is the best fine-dining restaurant in Columbus. The first impression as you walk in the door is unmatched, with the subtle lighting that changes colors, the long, graceful curtains, and large picture windows that offer a great view of downtown and, now, the unique Main Street bridge. A friend who lives in Manhattan and is used to high-powered meals with TV network bigshots was even impressed, describing the decor as "stunning." It's a decidely modern setting, with none of the stodginess that's sometimes associated with fine dining. The food, however, is the highlight. I'm continually surprised at the new takes M's chefs come up with for traditional dishes. My wife and I, if finances allow, come here every Valentine's Day and have been for nearly a decade, and I'm always excited to see what's new on the menu. Everything I've tried, from salads and appetizers to the entrees and desserts and even sushi has been superb. The desserts, in particular, are always interesting, with upscale takes on coffee and donuts, root beer floats, cupcakes and more. The service has always been friendly and professional. The only problem I've had here is having been asked to wait at the bar for up to 15 minutes, despite having reservations, but that's only happened once or twice. If I had unlimited resources, M would be my first choice for a meal in Columbus.

M is Cameron Mitchell's marquee restaurant, as in very upscale, and is meant to be a true "fine dining experience". The restaurant is located in the Miranova office tower off Mound St., a few blocks west of High in downtown Columbus. There's no outdoor parking in the area, so come prepared with $5 in cash for the parking garage, or use the valet. the restaurant itself is located on the first floor of the office tower, just around the corner from the elevator to the garage. When entering the restaurant, stop to take a look around before checking your coats. The interior of the restaurant is incredibly decorated, with sweeping mixed woods, hanging fabrics and constantly shifting colored lighting, which strikes off the hanging white fabrics to change the overlying colors of the entire atmosphere. The interior decoration definitely presents a very upscale mood, without seeming stuffy and "black tie" as can sometimes happen at other high-level restaurants. Reservations are recommended, but may not be required, especially on a weeknight, when we were seated immediately. There's no posted dress-code, but at LEAST business-casual is recommended. As with many high-end restaurants, the menu changes regularly, but it's anchored by several prime cuts of steak, lamb, and lobster tail, along with a more rotating selection of 5-10 featured entrees. It's in those entrees, as well as the appetizers, that the chef's creations really shine. Look for the lobster cones and mini kobe-beef burger appetizers (served with fries, in a brilliant presentation). For entrees, it's hard to go wrong with the scallops, but for those that don't enjoy seafood, the chicken dishes are excellent as well. Worth mentioning on it's own - despite NOT being primarily a sushi establishment, M has one of my absolute all-time favorite sushi rolls: their "Surf and Turf" roll. Tempura shrimp, rolled inside-out with a scallion, sprouts, cream cheese, and topped with the most tender slices of filet mignon that just absolutely melt in your mouth. If you're a sushi lover, do NOT MISS THIS. Desserts are excellent, but not *quite* as stand-out as the rest of the menu - Cameron Mitchell's excellent Creme Brulee is featured, as always, along with a fun Root Beer Float presentation, a coffee & donuts (with dipping sauces), and other options. The menu and atmosphere aren't the extent of the excellent experience that is M. The service at M is superb, doing everything to make sure the experience is truly top notch. Table settings are only for the current course, and naturally used silverware and dishes are cleared and replaced with new (and appropriate) silverware and dishes for the next course. Our server was particularly knowledgeable of the menu and very polite and welcoming, putting me at ease even as I'm stumbling over trying to say "seared sea scallops". A sign of the true dedication to service, going above and beyond anything I've previously seen, was a Thank You note from our server for the good comments we left on the comment card, received in the mail just a few days later. With an incredible atmosphere, excellent high-class menu, and superb service, the only real downside to M is the price. The price isn't unreasonable in comparison with similar restaurants (such as The Refectory and the high-class steak houses), but is definitely more than high enough to prevent frequent visits. The location and parking situation are somewhat disappointing as well, as the price remains the same for valet or non-valet parking, and the downtown location is not the most traffic-friendly. Despite those downfalls, M is highly recommended as a wonderful dining experience, perfect for special occasions or a nice evening getaway.

Let me start by saying that I really, really wanted to love this place. The dinner posted online looked very enticing with some very creative combinations. After reading the reviews, I thought it would be a perfect place to take my fellow foodie fiancé for his birthday on our visit to Columbus. Welll, I wasn't all wrong... The restaurant is located in the swanky Miranova condo building in downtown Columbus. The decor and ambiance is breathtaking and definitely fits the building it's in. We were VERY impressed with its modern, lounge-y feel. Kudos to the interior designer. (Guys, if you want to make a girl feel fancy, this place will do the trick!) It did not take long for us to be sat at 9:00 PM on a Friday night, and we were placed in a spacious corner booth. My man and I ordered drinks, a Sterling Vineyards Merlot for him and their "award-winning" Ginger Hibiscus gin cocktail. The cocktail was Absolutely incredible--refreshing, just sweet enough, and visually appealing complete with a candied hibiscus flower floating in the chilled martini glass. We pleasantly sipped on our drinks while we salivated through the menu. There was a fixed 3 course menu as an alternative to ordering off the dinner menu, which included some of the same offerings as the main menu, making dining there much more affordable. We decided to go for the gusto, however, and order off the entrée menu. We started with the Wasabi sushi roll as an appetizer, which consisted of a tuna and (i think) salmon roll encrusted in wasabi peas. The first two pieces I tasted were not bad, but not necessarily out of the ordinary. The third piece, however, was absolutely unacceptable. It was as if all of the wasabi in the roll was concentrated in that one bite. Now let me say, I love my sushi, and I like my sushi with some wasabi However, the wasabi was SO overwhelming that I found it hard to breathe, my eyes started instantly watering, and I even felt a numbness at the base of my neck. I think my fiancé was a little scared that his fiery, spice-loving Mexican was about to pass out. It was so disappointing. As for the entrées, I ordered a miso-marinated Chilean sea bass with shiitake mushrooms and shrimp dumplings all in a light Thai broth. The dish was actually good, don't get me wrong. Maybe it was just the fact that this delicate fish was a little overwhelmed by the miso flavoring. The mushrooms and little shrimp dumplings were very tasty and really absorbed the broth well. Not live-changing, but good. My birthday boy ordered the ahi tuna with foie gras, chili spinach, and a port wine reduction. Again, it was by no means a bad dish; however, the ingredients just did not seem to marry together as well as we had hoped for (especially at $30+ a pop). It was like a lot of good ideas without cohesion. Besides the wasabi roll, I would say not too shabby. But then again, for the price, I think more attention to detail is a must. Besides the decor and the cocktail, "wow" wasn't really what came to mind.

The husband and I went here for dinner for our 9th anniversary. The service was wonderful, and the plating was impeccable and the food tasted incredible. My only complaint was that the waitress left us alone for so long that when we finally managed to get our check we were in a bit of a rush .

Best of Mitchell's restaurants, altho Ocean Club is close behind. Typical Mitchell fare...seafood fresh and delicious, well prepared steaks, (and probably best veal mignon I have had) sushi is great, awesome cocktail selection. It is pricey, but the ambiance and vibe would make you think you are in Manhattan. I do feel the wine list is weak for the upscale nature of the restaurant, but hey that is true for all Cbus restaurants including The overrated Refectory.

Came here after a thorough search of the options for restaurant week and was very pleased with their menu. It was a beautiful atmosphere and our waiter was great. The food was wonderful, pricy, but that is expected if you're going here. I had a good meal here, it is somewhere I will definitely return to for happy hour. The sushi and chop salad I had was delicious. My salmon was cooked very well, although my friend said hers was a little over cooked for her preference. The homemade gnocchi was delicious and the lobster pieces were a perfect touch. The dessert really topped the meal off though. The lemon chiffon cake was out of this world. The chocolate lava cake was pretty standard but delicious none the less. Overall great meal and big portions.

Since California has mental problems and banned foie gras, I have to rely on business trips to help facilitate my need for force fed duck liver. yelp.com/biz_photos/m-co… I'd say the portion vs. the price would be what I'd expect in CA, but in Ohio I was hopeful for a larger wedge of the lobe, nope. But it was cooked perfectly and some with some forgettable saucy stuff. Bartender knocked out a great martini and they were playing classic Bond on the TV. Not a bad spot to chill. Has potential to be a cougar den.

Wow the food is amazing, if you're not ready to spend some money for great food than this isn't the place for you. It's a little pricy but definitely worth every bite. I love the surroundings, and be ready to dress to impress.

Amazing! The staff was phenomenal. I had the marquee martini and it was delish! The food was excellent. We had two sushi apps and the king crab app which was to die for. I had the surf and turf for dinner and the filet was a little overcooked for my liking but still good and the lobster tail was fabulous. The atmosphere was also fantastic. Will def go back!!

I've been a fan for quite awhile - I love the spot for evening drinks, a nice meal, or even a happy hour. Sadly, last week I went to happy hour and had less than mediocre sushi (think not so fresh to the point of being off) and horrible cocktails (how do you make a moscow mule undrinkable?) That food/drink experience was topped off by a bartender who was less than friendly. Altogether, I was left with zero desire to return to M in the future. Save yourself the disappointment and go to any of the other fantastic food and drink spots in the area (Curio/Harvest, Lindey's, etc.).

Let me start with saying I have never been disappointed by any means every time I visit this place! Please take that statement seriously! From valet, to superb service, food, the ambiance, it's certainly an experience. The most romantic restaurant in Columbus by my standard (I've been to them all). I don't even know where to start. It's beautiful, the lights are low, your surrounded by luxurious drapery, and you enjoy dinner by candle light. I've been here more times than I can count and for everything from happy hour, large dinner parties, to a romantic summer's night date on the patio. The server's know this menu like a living breathing book. Anything you want or need to know, they know. The signature drinks are what I dream about until the next time I visit. Before I hit my seat i'm ordering a Black Orchid. Seriously, try this, it's what you've been missing your entire adult life. The food is not just beautiful but delicious! Every single time! Try the King Crab appetizer because all of the work that goes into eating fresh crab is done. Shelled and soaking in warm butter, all you have to do is devour it. Pricey, sure maybe since I go well into ordering 4-5 Black Orchid's. You get what you pay for, and i'll happily do it every time. Classy, put something nice on and really indulge. Your going to feel like someone famous if you roll up and hop out in a suit or a dress and honestly who doesn't want to feel that way every now and then?

This is a very chic dining experience. I was here recently for a business dinner, but it struck me as the perfect place for an intimate dinner or date.. it's beautifully styled and the atmosphere is posh. They have valet, which is great for when you are wearing your highest heels... and the menu has some amazing options. I loved the crab in butter and the lamb was amazing. Only draw back was the coat check girl did not take my coat even after I asked her twice. It was as if she just kept forgetting. Annoying, but it didn't hurt the experience too much. I will be back!

Premier dining locations in columbus Attended this place with a group, we had our own private area which was nice. The signature drink was very delicious. Had a pasta dish that was very tasty and cooked to perfection. the staff was kind, and considering that we were in a group they weren't pushy or trying to rush us. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the dining experience as did the rest of the group.

One word review: disappointed. Made an 8 pm reservation for myself and two girlfriends for restaurant week. We waited for 1Hour before we were seated. Sixty minutes, despite a confirmed reservation. Not cool. Then received tomato basil bisque: too tart, warm-ish. Pork tenderloin with bordelaise sauce: meh. Chocolate lava cake and ice cream: no lava in cake. M needs to step up its game if it wants to attract patrons with good taste buds. Would've given it 1star, but their black orchid cocktail was quite good. Will not return.

Loved this restaurant. I had salmon and my colleagues had the tuna and scallops. Each of us loved our selection. The combination of flavors was perfect. We had the tuna rolls as appetizers - highly recommend. Service was excellent. Atmosphere was light and bright. Wish it hadn't been so warm outside as the patio is very inviting.

Unfortunately, I was not impressed with M. I went here on my Birthday.. The atmosphere was great, felt a little stuffy, but was enjoyable. I think restaurants can be higher end and not feel like you have to talk quietly, watch everything you say and not laugh without feeling like you are interrupting people's evening. The staff was great and very very helpful, especially our waiter (Can't remember name, sorry). The food was alright, I did cringe at the thought of my Mother paying the bill as a Birthday gift, because it by no means, was worth the price. I think I could have went to many other places in Columbus and enjoyed it much more for a lower price. I really did expect to enjoy this place and food due to going to other Cameron Mitchell Restaurants. I hate to say it, but I will not return.

Scallops were good not great. Enjoyed the beet salad. People with us had the strip steak and it looked great. Desert of apple pie and ice cream very good also. Extensive drink menu with wild orchid martini popular. Pricey. I do not think this is the best Cameron Mitchell restaurant. Ambiance is great but good is very directional .

We came here for my wife's birthday, and the service was top notch from start to finish. They even bought her a desert. The decor is modern, hip, and inviting. It's upscale but not stuffy. They start you off with some of the best salty sourdough I've ever had. We ordered a couple of black orchids; one of the best cocktails I've ever had. We got king crab as an appetizer. Little toasts served with a small jar of king crab pieces drowning in butter. Pretty amazing, but the portion size was pretty small for the $29 price. My wife got the scallop entree. A hefty portion of 8 or so scallops with rice and pork. The scallops were perfectly prepared but the rice and pork were overly salty. So much so that she couldn't finish the dish. I got the surf and turf: a sushi roll made with shrimp tempura and filet mignon. It was one of the best things I've ever eaten, and at $16, it was very reasonably priced. We ordered a side of the lobster mashed potatoes. Creamy potatoes with a ton of delicious lobster meat on top. It was floating in butter, and you couldn't even mix it all in. It would have been better with less butter. We finished our meal off with coffee and donuts, and cherry pie. Neither of which are what you'd expect; both of which will exceed your expectations of desert.

M is one of those dining experiences that is so complex, it is difficult to give a singular rating. Overall, this was a four-star dining experience, and M is still one of the best restaurants in Columbus. This was my first time dining at M in over 10 years. I remember thinking, back then, that it was one of the best meals I'd ever had. Obviously, my tastes have become more refined over the years, but the tastes still stood up to what I remembered. We started with the surf n' turf roll, just barely missing the Friday happy hour pricing. I felt strange asking the server what parts were cooked (I don't mind raw food, but Dad does). The beef on the roll is served VERY rare, fyi. I liked it, though the roll overall was not as flavorful as it could have been. I ordered the veal mignon and truly did not want that dish to end. One of the veal portions was served on an asiago crepe filled with shiitake mushrooms. I die. I savored each bite as it melted on my tongue. The sauce was a little on the too-salty side, but overall the rest of the dish was so spectacular, I didn't mind one bit. (I suspect I'm overly sensitive to saltiness.) I don't remember the menu having so many asian influences when I came before (my selection wasn't asian-fusion, but a lot of the seafood dishes were). I also was a little disappointed that there didn't seem to be a more seasonal effort. Of the dishes that weren't asian-inspired, many seemed like autumnal dishes (including my veal). I don't go often enough to know how often the menu rotates, but I didn't get the feeling the menu changes much from season-to-season. For the level of culinary artistry M seems to aspire to, making seasonal changes would be the next step towards greatness. Service was a little shaky this time around. I had to call and push back my original reservation time, and the woman on the phone sounded pretty unsophisticated and gruff. I would have expected a cool, elegant "we look forward to seeing you at 7, Miss J." Instead, it felt more like I was ordering a pizza. "Time? Name? Ok." *Click* The hostess, when she seats you, might trade your white napkin in for a dark one, if you're wearing dark colors. For dinner service, our server seemed... new. She gave a little spiel about a champagne when we sat down-- overused "fantastic" a lot and seemed nervous. When Dad asked her to tell him "more about the champagne" later, she just repeated the same rehearsed speech. He asked how much, and it was $25 per glass. I hate to be crass about asking for prices at restaurants, but this was good to know... it was enough that we decided not to get two glasses of it. We did order a nice bottle of wine, though. Her pour was shaky, dribbled wine on the tablecloth. But, despite these small faults she was sweet, and we felt very well attended. Dessert was good. We ordered the peach pie (of course not in a traditional sense) and a chocolate cake. She put them both on the same platter so the three of us could share them more easily, which was nice, but two plates would have been fine. The peach pie with the bourbon ice cream was a delight, but the crust was a little stale and not very tender. Decor is gorgeous. There's a small side patio lounge that looks fantastic for drinks and an app. I think I'll earmark another Friday just for drinks out there sometime this summer. With a few updated tweaks, M could easily renew its status as the best restaurant in Columbus, without having to rest so much on its laurels.

Many interesting menu choices. We went for a Valentine's Day early dinner and this place was ready for the task. Black Orchid cocktail, jalapeño infused margarita, lamb, surf and turf, 3 cones appetizer with Caviar and lobster salad, excellent food, tremendous service, awesome decor and a price to match. Great for special occasions.

I came here with a group of my girlfriends for Restaurant Week, a bit of a weekday indulgence. It's an interesting place with decor that echos the menu with its mixture of influences... Mostly "contemporary American" with an Asian twist, very showy and hip...and expensive. However, with Restaurant Week, guests make a selection of appetizer, meal, and dessert from a fixed menu for a more affordable $35 (not including tip, tax), the price of just the meal, normally. For my meal, I started off with the "roasted tomato soup, goat cheese sandwich" which sounds like a whole meal, but sandwich here means a few small pieces of crostini-like toasted bread with a smear of goat cheese. The soup is very good, though. Rich and creamy, it is very good tomato soup. There's not really enough goat cheese to affect it one way or another, though. The main course was "veal mignon" which is actually an assortment of items. The title meat shows up in the form of a few small but tender pieces of veal tenderloin and a scoop of braised veal cheek (reminiscent of a very heavily marbled piece of slow roast beef). This is served atop a handful of roasted root vegetables and carrots and an asiago cheese crepe with shitake mushrooms. Of this, the veal tenderloin was the best aspect, with a nice texture and delicate flavor that seemed somewhat out of place with all of the heaviness of the cheek and crepe. Honestly, the flavor of these items became monotonous very quickly for me, though the pickled red cabbage and the pungent root vegetables did help a bit in breaking this up. If you eat everything all at once, it makes a nice mix, but the items themselves or even eaten in a sequence don't really stand alone for more than a bite or two. Finally, dessert. At the waiter's recommendation, I went with the "Cake and Ice Cream" which consists of a dense chocolate lava cake, a scoop of caramel ice cream, and a turtle (cashews with caramel, chocolate). It is good, but I would say if you are not a fan of dark chocolate, perhaps try something else. I do like dark chocolate and flourless chocolate cake in general and this was almost too dark. The flavor was quite bitter, rather like a bar of 75%+ dark chocolate. It goes better with the ice cream, but if you don't like mixing textures, I'd say try the lemon chiffon cake or something else. As to other aspects, the complementary bread is nice with a soft inside, crisp crust, and unusual smokey flavor. Service for our visit was also very good. We had a great waiter who was attentive and helpful. However, if you have a party member who is lagging behind, don't order until s/he arrives. If my experience is anything to go by, his/her meal will lag behind the rest of the evening, even if it is only a few minutes that s/he is late, and even if the place isn't that busy. The worst was the main course which came out only when my companions were finishing their meals. I can only assume that the veal takes a very long time to prepare... that or their kitchen has a very rigid system. One other note - parking isn't necessarily free. There is a very convenient garage (do not pull into the cobble stone drive like the GPS says unless you want valet parking: the entrance to the garage is at street level) but M does not officially give out vouchers. It might not hurt to ask your server if you can get validation, though. Overall... I can't honestly say "I'm a fan," but I would say that M is "A-OK." Even if the prices were more budget-friendly, I don't know that it is a place I'd be running back to any time soon. However, for a special night out or just a fun indulgence, it might be worth a try. I understand that they are friendly to newlyweds and probably to other events, so it might be a place to try for that.

Be sure to come a little after dark so that you may greater experience the lighting and ambiance of the restaurant. M Restaurant and Bar is one of Cameron Mitchell's restaurants located in downtown Columbus. The decor is chic enough for a young couple to gawk at yet they balance it off tastefully for diners of all ages. We shared the following dishes between two people: Steak Burger with truffle fries: I asked for a medium cooked burger with the onions grilled and it came out perfectly. It was a good burger with the usual pickles, lettuce, cheddar, and onions. And although it was good - I can't say it was the best burger i've ever had. I personally wouldn't have minded a special sauce to make it a little more memorable. Can't go wrong with truffle fries though and thinly cut fries are my favorite. Paired off with a red wine and it made a pleasant entree. Chilean Sea Bass: This type of fish is so naturally buttery that it comes out delicious anyway you cook it. The M did an especially great job with their Asian inspired twist, adding a couple of delicate shrimp dumplings, and laying it over a light broth. Side of truffle mac n cheese: Loved the crispier, parmesan crusted top layer of the truffle mac n cheese. Enough to share between 2-3 people as a side, it was very cheesy at the bottom. Coffee and donuts: Donut hole sized apple fritters with two dipping sauces - caramel and raspberry. A bit messy but only if you insist on the addicting caramel sauce. The coffee semifreddo was strong and a great contrast to the hot apple fritters. Who says you need to order filet mignon and freshly sauteed vegetables to dine at a white table tablecloth restaurant? I had a great meal with my donuts donuts, mac n cheese, and burger :) Being from out of a town, I was able to ask the hostess to call a cab for us and it came no later than 5 minutes after.

My boyfriend made us a reservation for Valentines Day. Obviously, every nice restaurant is going to be busy but we had to sit at the bar and wait 30 extra minutes before a table was ready. Our waitress was terrible. It was like she constantly forgetting about us. Took forever to get the food... Then we're done with our food and it takes her 20 more minutes to get back to us to offer desert, but we pass. She brings the bill she added on 2 drinks that we ordered and already paid for at the bar. Then she 'fixes it'. We check the account and she charged us 3 times! $114, $114, and $87. It's a pretty restaurant, I hope that they aren't always this terrible but with that being my first experience I will not go back. Not happy about the service.

Like the rest of Columbus, my wife and I came here for Valentine's Day. Making a reservation was the extent of my V-Day plans, so I really needed M to come through for me. She wasn't disappointed and had a great time (that was made even better by an entertainingly ridiculous and loud argument a nearby couple was having). Sure, we had to wait a little for our table despite our reservation, but having a perfect old fashioned at the bar wasn't too painful. The Black Orchid my wife ordered wasn't bad, tasted kind of like lychee juice. Started with king crab stuffed in a mason jar of melted butter, which was amazing. Crack cocaine. The lamb was well-cooked, really solid. Mac and cheese with truffles was also delicious and a relative value at $15 (sarcastic). Sea bass was decent. We had a great waiter who was attentive but not awkwardly hovering. That being said, I was glad I was a few drinks in by the time I got the check, but I guess I expected that. The decor is cool, but almost in a trying-too-hard kind of way. Heavy on the darkness with purple lights thing. Anyway, in summary, it's a decent place for a romantic dinner on a special occasion.

My husband and I first went to M in December 2013. Friends of ours went there for their anniversary dinner and raved about the food. My husband decided we would go the next day due to their recommendation. We went for happy hour and we ordered the wagyu burgers and fries, surf n turf and the spicy tuna. We both ordered the Orange Pomelo and I ordered also a Cosmopolitan. EVerything was simply delicious We have since gone back 2 or 3 times and we will recommend this place to all our friends. In fact, I'm going again next week with a couple of girlfriends for Happy Hour. Love the Orange Pomelo drink. I hope this drink will be a keeper on the menu.

The decorations of this place is a little intimidating. High ceilings, low light, wall curtains, large vases with large flowers. I do have to agree with some of the reviews below - they are trying a little too hard. With that said, I do work in the same building. So happy hour is what draws me there. Everyday from 5-7pm, $5 well drinks with a small list of food specials. Their sushi specials are sub-par but their Beef Sliders are tasty. And the bartenders can whip up a mean Old Fashioned. I probably wouldn't come here if it weren't for the convenience.

My wife and I went here for our second wedding anniversary. We were here in the middle of the week, so the restaurant was not particularly busy. I had the kobe beef sliders as an appetizer and the ahi tuna as a main course. My wife had the potstickers and the steak in the bowl. For desert, I had the chocolate lava cake and my wife had the "donuts and coffee." The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. This was easily one of the best meals we've eaten in Columbus. Highly recommended.

For me, this is the "special occasion" go-to in Columbus. Hubby and I decided to celebrate our birthdays, so we made a reservation here. Everything was spectacular, from the wine list to the crabmeat appetizer, to the entrees, to the heavenly Woodford Reserve milkshake. I had the filet mignon, which was expertly cooked, and my husband had the sea bass, which he loved. The service was very attentive, but she didn't hover, which is one of my pet peeves. Noise level was moderate, as one would expect at a place like this. I have dined all over the world, and M is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere.

I will say that this place is lovely. Beautiful architecture inside and out. It exudes a chic and swanky ambiance. It is the place to see and be seen - people watching can get quite entertaining as in guessing the age gap between the couples who came in (if you catch my drift). And I will give them very high marks for a fantastic blueberry mojito! After that - our experience began to sag. Saturday night, we had reservations, got there on time but had to wait for close to half an hour - at the bar - before our table was ready. That did not sit well with me, but the aforementioned mojito's soothed that wrinkle out. The decor is very nice although a bit over the top; pillows, sheer curtains, mood lighting....let me back up about that mood lighting. Mood lighting is fine with me and can even enhance things if it is one consistent light, but we happened to be seated directly under one of the lights which changed from blue to red to something in between. That was a bit disorienting to me; didn't like it. We saw some interesting appetizers go past and decided to try one just for the hell of it. Three cones is basically three very small ice cream like cones with a dollop of different seafood salads in them. Nice presentation, interesting tastes - but no wow factor - and $17. The appetizer cost nearly as much as hubs short rib entree. The short ribs were very good; tender succulent but a bit swimming in sauce. I should have ordered some veggies instead of my $9 wedge salad. Talk about a mark up! The bread they brought to the table was fresh out of the oven and a delight to this carb addict. I had the ahi tuna which was just ok to me. Nothing to stop the presses about. Now the lobster mashed potatoes to share ($14) was excellent. A lot of places who do this dish have small to tiny bits of lobster in the mash, M had chunks in and on. Tasty! Desert was a lemon brulee. Very nice lemon flavor with lemon zest on top of the brulee. The menu stated it came with lemon and goat cheese cookies. I was looking forward to this until the desert arrived. The cookies (3) were about the size of a quarter. Not much to really get the full taste of the thing. Our server was very nice but a bit slow. Perhaps it was due to the crowd that evening - I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt. I am not marking them low for the price...we knew that going in and that is not an issue. I was just hoping for the dining experience to match the ambiance.

This is one of the best restaurants in downtown Columbus (along with Sidebar 122 and DeNovo). As Cameron Mitchell's flagship restaurant, you will not be disappointed (may need to save some extra cash though, a little pricey). The decor is fantastic with an outdoor terrace overlooking the Scioto riverfront. Housed in the Miranova complex (where many Columbus celebretaies live including living-legend, Fmr. Senator and Astronaunt John Glenn). It is common place to find cars parked outside that cost more than your house like Aston Martins. But, what I like about M, is that the staff treat everyone the same, no matter what you drove up in. First the cocktails are incredible here and the bartenders have won many national awards. The cocktail menu includes housemade onics and bitters as well as signature cocktails that are beyond incredible. My favorite is the Black Orchid which has Belbedere Black Rasberry, St. Germain, white cranberry and fresh lime juice complete with an edible frozen flower. The food menu is also equally incerdible. I ordered king crab poached in butter as an appitizer. Mouth watering is an under statement. For the main course, I had sea scallops with parmesan risotto, roasted pork in a brown cream sauce. All were beyond fantastic! The service exceeds first-rate, and suitable for the Queen herself. Would recommend dressing up and expecting to pay (at least) $100+ for two. Even though M has a very impressive wine list, as with all Cameron Mitchell restaurants, the wine prices are outrageous! More than triple retail price! It's an insult to people that know wine, but unfortunately is common among most restaurants. If it was not for the outrageous wine prices, I would have given M five stars. I've decided to take a stand and deduct one star when I review restaurants if they gouge customers on wine prices; it really is insulting. So consider this a five-star review with a star deducted for the wine prices. Sidebar 122's wine list is comparable, but their wine prices are about 2% above retail, which is very respectful to customers.

Cris gets 6 stars. Happy hour at the M is a great way to experience M without breaking the bank. Try the shrimp cocktail and sliders.

M is superb. It's romantic, chic, and trendy. You'll pay for it, but on a splurge dinner for a special occasion it's absolutely worth it. Listen closely to the specials because they are often incredible. The black orchid cocktail is amazing- truly a special treat. The entire menu is decadent and full of interesting flavor combinations. The head chef is truly a culinary wizard. Our service was spectacular and the server was absolutely spot on. Everything was perfect. Give this swanky place a go when you're looking to spice things up and go a bit over the top for your next dinner. Take your significant other on a date here and you're sure to not regret it.

This is my second time in M. I believe I ate at M last winter. Since this is already spring, i would expect them to have changed the menu. But they didn't. But the food is was really good. Especially for Columbus's standard, it was spectacular. We are celebrating my friend's graduation/job offer/move to sf. We ordered the Moet and Chandon Imperial to start our meal. I love that champagne. We shared 3 appetizers for a party of 6. The butter poached alaskan king crab was spectacular. I didn't expect the dish to be that good. The butter was so good. And than we had the trio of cones. This was also delicious. My favorite was the tuna. And of course, we had the foie gras. And as i said before, foie gras are foie gras. They are always fattlicious. I had the prime steak. It was slightly overcooked. But nonetheless, it was still really delicious. The creamed leeks was a very great addition to the dish, along with the roasted vegetables. Another highlight of the night was the tuna. The tuna was very elegantly prepared. The tuna was barely touched, it was still very rare. The tuna was very juicy and delicious. I had always enjoyed the short ribs at M, and tonight it didn't disappoint. The scallop was also perfectly cooked and served on top of risotto. I'm not a big fan of the veal mignon. I really don't get the concept of the dish and it lacked the wow factor of the other dishes. As this is a celebration, i wish the waiter had given us a complimentary. Perhaps a mac and cheese or something? The desserts was also disappointing. Both the creme brulee and chocolate cake was a major disappointment. The supposably melted chocolate didn't melt at all. It was stiff. If they put uganda vanilla beans, i think the creme brulee would have been a lot better. But desserts was saved by the bread pudding. In the end, i enjoyed eating at M. a lot. I believe this might be the best fine dining in Columbus. I do have one suggestion. I hate the lighting. the light keep on changing colors. It's hard to see the food! Who wants to see a bluish piece of meat?

What kind of restaurant is M? It's the kind of place that is beautifully appointed and inexplicably lit with garish neon that cycles through a nuclear rainbow of colors so slowly you wonder, "What the fuck is going on?" It's the kind of restaurant that had a Dead Tissue Seminar in full view of the dining room, the video screens for which were hidden by far too transparent curtains. (I shit you not. When we pointed it out to our waiter, a medical probe graphically digging into blackened flesh, he apologized, laughed, and said, "We've had so much worse.") It's the kind of restaurant that will charge you nine dollars for an order of french fries, ketchup, and garlic mayonnaise, and misspell "aioli" on the menu. That's not to say it doesn't almost excel. Truthfully, every one of our dishes (save for the King Crab starter) could have been excellent if not for easily remedied mistakes. Sadly, though, every one of them, save for that starter, had a problem that undermined it. M is a restaurant defined by its near-misses. To start off, our server (and the people who refilled water and helped bring the courses) were wonderful. They could not have been nicer or more attentive. We began with cocktails: Amy had the surprisingly good London Greyhound (Beefeater gin, pink peppercorn infused St. Germain elderflower, fresh grapefruit juice, and a haphazard rim of Himalayan sea salt). I had their margarita, made of Herradurra Silver, jalapeño infused agave nectar (a really great idea), fresh lime juice, and (yet again) a hit-and-miss rim of smoked sea salt. These drinks set the tone for our evening: fantastic ingredients, but poorly executed (even Chi-Chi's was able to salt the rim of a glass). For appetizers we had the King Crab and the "Foie". The crab was "[b]utter poached Dutch Harbor Alaskan King Crab" with a giant bay leaf, and it was served in a glass cask. This was, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the best thing we were served at M. The accompanying crostini was an afterthought. The foie gras (with pork belly confit, black lentil ragout, truffle pate, and a cherry jus), on the other hand, was full of Almosts. It hadn't been seared long enough, leaving the texture static rather than giving it contrasting dynamics. The lentils were room temperature and underdone, and the cherry jus was just savory, neither sweet nor tart enough to compliment the foie. It was Almost there, just poorly executed. (The pork belly, though, was fine.) Our main course featured the salmon for me, and one of the specials, rock lobster tails, for Amy. My salmon (with housemade gnocchi, lobster (claw meat), haricot vert, forest mushrooms, tomato fondue (i.e., tomato paste), and a lemon vin blanc) was perfectly cooked and had a delectable crust. This was the second best dish of the night, as it was actually successful (and the correct temperature)... aside from the last bite. There was a single bit of lobster claw shell that I discovered with my final bite that literally drew blood from the roof of my mouth. Because that's what you want from a restaurant. Amy's lobster tails were a mess. The main problem was that they were poorly cooked: the outside edges were medium-well while the interior was rare. The sauce for the tails was a savory crab meat cream sauce that it didn't really go, flavor-wise, with the lobster. Amy longed for the drawn butter that had been advertised when she ordered the lobster, if only to have something that would accentuate, rather than obliterate, the taste of her entree. The "Mac-N-Cheese" (à la carte with Tillamook cheddar and black truffles) wasn't anywhere near hot enough. I have no idea if it was good or not: it just wasn't hot, and possibly the right temperature would have saved this leaden brick. We decided to order dessert, it being our anniversary and all, Amy ordered a port, and I ordered the wonderful dessert wine trio. For dessert we had what M calls Apple Pie ("[w]arm apples, almond crumbles, Apple Jack ice cream (vanilla bean ice cream mixed with Apple Jack Liquor), and cider caramel"). Perhaps we should have been warned by the description that this would only be "warm" rather than "hot", and like our other too-cool courses, the dessert suffered as a result: it should have been piping. The flavors were nice, but this dessert was completely forgettable. There were so many opportunities for M to shine, but there wasn't a single dish that didn't have something wrong with it. Food at this level (and by "at this level" I mean "at this price") shouldn't have these problems. (Amy said, upon reading this, she would have given the place a B+ had it been half as expensive.) It's not too much to expect food to be served at proper temperatures, to expect shells to be completely removed, and to expect to have a dinner that doesn't have a floor show involving a dead tissue video. M is almost good. But almost doesn't count here. At all.

I decided to try M, but being on a limited budget I decided to sit at the bar and order a burger and a glass of wine. A marquee martini, black orchid martini, samples of Lobster Mash and Truffle Mac & Cheese along with aforementioned wine and burger and my budget was sufficiently blown...and I was totally giddy. I do understand that the location is somewhat hidden and the atmosphere intimidating, but being that you're in Ohio, the staff are not at all pretentious like you'd expect. Their motto is something like "service, service, service" and I felt they fully exemplified it. To wit, I was totally scrubby, in jeans and sneakers, having come from a full day of travel, and not for a second did I feel unwelcome due to my shoddy appearance. Cris is the master mixologist here, and she's won every award you can for mixing up the booze (think Iron Chef and Chopped for alcohol). The black orchid martini is actually an edible flower frozen into a round piece of ice and served with some elderflower concoction. Normally I think elderflower tastes like you're drinking perfume while kissing grandma, but this was t-a-s-t-y. The Marquee martini has compressed foam or something in it, with an M drawn onto the top, and yeah, that was gone in a matter of minutes. Now I was really getting to know Cris, who isn't just there to ply me with (actually, they're pretty weak- hence the mass consumption) designer drinks; she is also a really good bartender who upsells the restaurant and anticipates the drinks needs of her regulars. Nice, Cris, nice. The kobe beef burger, at $16, is likely one of the best values I've ever had. No, typically you don't need to spend this much on a burger, but I don't care how much you have to spend in order to enter that state of euphoria in which you're actually giggling while eating, marveling at how freaking happy each perfect bite makes me, and taking photographs of the food. The fries are light and crispy, and spritzed with truffle oil, which is luxurious but somewhat unnecessary. Then I just had to ask for samples of the Lobster Mash and Truffle Mac. The lobster was just meh; the potatoes were a little dry and I basically ate the lobster off the top and gave the rest back. But that Truffle Mac was...life altering...like last meal-of-your-life-and-die-happy good. I was stuffed to the point of threads tearing in my pants but I ate every bite. Apparently it contains about 400 calories per spoonful thanks to its combination of several cheeses, heavy cream, beer, and possibly pixie dust and unicorn horn, but that's how good it is. I'd go back with a friend and split the burger and mac next time for sure. Now with that being said, if the rest of the food at M is just as delectable, I'm going to be in BIG trouble both thanks to needing both bigger pants and a bigger wallet.

Ah, the challenge of Yelp: how do you rate a top notch restaurant and a local hot dog joint on the same day? It might not be possible, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways. M is the restaurant to go to for fine dining near downtown Columbus, as evidenced by the guy in the booth next to us that proposed to his girlfriend after dessert. The atmosphere is modern and very flowy with lots of curtains. Most importantly, the seats are very well padded. The lightning is appropriately dark, and you'll like it very much if you're a fan of the colors blue, purple and pink. We started with "Shrimp Again", shrimp, sweet potatoes and mushrooms covered in tempura batter and served with Thai dipping sauce and Asian sea salt. The shrimp was perfect (and possibly marinated), while the portabella and sweet potato were surprisingly good. The Thai sauce had the right mix of sweetness, sour and spice; the black sesame seeds provided a nice visual touch. This was followed up by our entrees, Chicken, and Diver Sea Scallops. The scallops weren't quite buttery as I've had them before, but they were seared properly. The lobster risotto was out-of-this-world amazing, and made perfect with the crunch of slightly bitter watercress. It was everything I hoped the main entree would be. What little I had of the chicken was also quite good. The bacon bits, in particular, provided a great deal of smokiness to the dish, while the chicken had great flavor. I'm not a wine guy, but our server, Emily, made great suggestions regarding wine pairings for both of us. On the side, we picked up the truffle mac n' cheese. The truffles aren't too much here, adding a wonderful earthy flavor to what would normally just be a really good, rich mac n' cheese. And then there was dessert. My coffee and fritters was, again, a big league dessert. There are apple chunks in the fritters, which are deep fried perfectly and sprinkled with the right amount of confectioners and turbinado sugar. The coffee is served semifreddo, which was something new to me, but thanks to the fine coffee grounds in the cup, tasted just like coffee. And the caramel and raspberry sauces served on the sides were similarly made right; nicely salted for the former, the right consistency for the latter. My wife got the cupcakes. These were good, though the vanilla and red velvet cake mini-cupcakes proved toe the best of the five. For the first meal we've had in Columbus, M was a special treat, easily meeting and exceeding my expectations. I highly recommend it for anyone else passing through the area.

Taste: 5 Value: 4 Service: 5 I came here tonight at 8:15pm for a belated birthday dinner. You drive up the gravel driveway up to the little valet booth outside the building. yelp.com/biz_photos/gmIy… and yelp.com/biz_photos/gmIy… . Valet parking is $5, payable when you drop off your car. yelp.com/biz_photos/gmIy… Once inside the restaurant, the receptionist asked me if I wanted to sit in the lounge in the dining area, and I originally chose the lounge. However, the area's right in front of the bar, and the big modern leather seats weren't very comfy, so I asked to be seated in the dining area. yelp.com/biz_photos/gmIy… To keep it concise, here's my night: 1. Fuji still water, $6.75 I didn't realize I was charged for the water until I got the bill. On hindsight, I think my server did say tap at the end, but I might not have heard since it was mumbled. Kind of sucks. 2. Tuna Tartare Amuse Bouche, compliments of the chef yelp.com/biz_photos/gmIy… Not bad and a bit spicy, but not overly so since it was just a bite. 3. Duck Duck, $19 yelp.com/biz_photos/gmIy… Seared Hudson Valley foie gras, cashew butter, duck rilette, and toast. So-so. The foie gras wasn't bad, and the duck rilette was okay. Next time, I'll probably get something else. 4. Diver sea scallops, $27 yelp.com/biz_photos/gmIy… Roasted tomato and rock lobster risotto, Napa Valley olive oil. Solid. The scallops were perfectly seared, the risotto was soft and buttery, and the lobster was good. It may have been slightly too salty since I was really thirsty afterwards, but well done nevertheless. 5. Coffee and Donuts, compliments of the chef yelp.com/biz_photos/gmIy… Coffee semifreddo, apple fritters, dipping sauces. Mediocre. I thought the donuts were pretty dry, although decent, and I had to wash them down with quite a bit of water. They came with a split raspberry and caramel sauce, which was okay. 6. Vanilla Brulee, compliments of the chef yelp.com/biz_photos/gmIy… Delish. One of the better creme brulees I've had. They even put a birthday candle on the whipped cream. Service was spot-on, and pacing was good. I was out of there in just under two hours. Decor is quite pretty, especially the draperies for some of the tables (this place is a great place for special occasions, hint hint). The only odd thing was that their restroom is actually outside of the restaurant, around the corner of the hallway. The valet guy was pretty funny too when I picked up my car; he was watching Hell's Kitchen, and we talked about that for a minute or two. Then when he came back with the car, he said "there's your f$@king car" in a really bad British accent. At the end of it, I was absolutely stuffed. Total was only $67 after tax and 20% tip.

Maybe I am too harsh. Everyone I know loves this place. I've traveled the world and have a pretty good idea of what to expect in a dining experience. First we ordered some sushi for our table. Crab and tuna. Tasted more like they got it from krogers. I expected more from CM. My Caesar salad would rival Wendy's. I expected more from CM. My Filet was good but I did not come to M for good. I expect more from CM. Lastly the next day I involuntarily expelled more than my body weight . Unsure it was related. But coincidental??

On Friday, February 29th myself and a group of 7 other people attended dinner at M at Miranova. The eight of us were from places varying from Wisconsin to Toronto to Miami to NYC to New Jersey to right here in Columbus and we were all together for a nice dinner after the Arnold. As an experienced diner and the only person from Columbus, I suggested M and I could not have been more pleased with the food, the service, or my group's experience. First, the decor was beautiful. With slowly changing overhead lighting as well as slashes of light emanating from the wine rack in the front combined with low light chandeliers in the back of the restaurant created an elegant yet trendy look without feeling stuffy. The staff was dressed elegantly and everything at the table appeared polished and high quality and the noise level was wonderful for conversation. As most had only arrived that day and were busy with hotel reservations, two members of the group arrived early and two late. Those who arrived early were treated to great cocktails at the bar and those arriving late were ushered to our table in the beautiful 'barrel room' without hassle. Nate, our server, was outstanding in explaining the menu and was fantastic at knowing when to offer suggestions and when to give the diner time to decide. Nothing felt rushed at all. Additionally, as the menu frequently changes, one of our diners had noted Watermelon sushi in the past and being from New York was disappointed to discover it had recently left the menu. To my amazement, the waiter left and returned shortly to inform us that they could make the roll and that someone had been sent to pick up a Watermelon. Never have I experienced such service. I was and still am in awe. While I cannot comment on everything on the menu, I will note that my fellow diners were particularly pleased with the 'Soup' of Roasted Tomato and Chevre Crostini, The 'Beef' of Mini Kobe Burgers w/ Carmelized Onions, and Cheddar, and the 'Poke' with Big Eye Tuna, Avocado, Ginger Soy, and Wasabi Sorbet. The Steak in a Bowl was described as 'incredible' by all three diners who experienced it and both the Surf n' Turn Roll and Watermelon Roll were enjoyed. Very full, only 2 desserts were ordered, the coffee and donuts by one and the Bread Pudding by myself. Less highly thought of items included the Three Cones which were "too sweet," the Wild salmon which was 'average,' and the coffee and donuts which were simply coffee and warm fried pieces of apple and bread with dipping sauce. I personally opted for a starter of the 'Crab' She-Crab Bisque with Blue Crab BLT and Basil Aioli. The dish was plated beautifully and although small, incredible in taste and texture. The soup was pureed crab and butter, plus basil and each taste melded perfectly while maintaining its originality. The Blue Crab BLT was even better than the soup, in my opinion, and the taste of Crab exploded from the tiny sandwich in the same way that the Lobster at SPAGO explodes from the Lobster BLT. As a main, I chose the Black Cod with Lobster Ravioli, Green Asparagus, and Sweet Corn Emulsion. Plated simply, the flawlessly broiled fish was served topped with very tender and flavorful asparagus on top of a bed of 4 Lobster Ravioli and a base layer of the Corn. The flavors each persisted on their own, but also complimented one another eaten as a whole. The lobster Ravioli were as good as any I've ever experienced and the corn emulsion could be served as a dessert in a lesser restaurant. In addition to my main, I opted for the Lobster Mashed Potatoes which were simple, utilizing a creamy potato and garlic oil, topped with warm whole chunks of lobster. Having had this dish only 2 weeks prior at Mastro's in Los Angeles, I can definitively say I preferred the M presentation, flavor, and pricetag. For dessert, a friend and I split the Banana Bread Pudding described as 'Layered in Butterscotch Banana custard, Cashew Toffee, and Roasted Banana Gelato.' As Bread pudding is in my top two favorite desserts along with Tiramisu, I have experienced multiple presentations and will say that M's interpretation was amongst the top two or three along with the version's at Emeril's in Orlando and Lolita's Lust in Toronto. The gelato was understated yet complimented the saltiness of the saltiness of the cashews beautifully while the bread pudding was a tastefully heavy banana bread coated in a delectably smooth butterscotch custard. All told, everyone was pleased, including those with upscale 'big city' eating experience. For myself, the meal ranked on the same level as meals at restaurants like Il Mulino in New York and Spago in Los Angeles, as well as the Emeril's Franchised restaurants in Orlando and Las Vegas, and the service was even better. If there is better dining to be had in Columbus (or anywhere in Ohio,) I've yet to find it.

Came here for New Year's Eve and it was a full house, as expected. Valet was kind enough, we were kindly told to sit at the bar after we arrived at 7:05 for a 7:15 reservation. At 7:21, we were taken to our table. At the bar, I saw some guy leaving and he had just signed off on a $51 credit card receipt leaving a $50 tip. I thought to myself the drinks must be amazing, and so ordered a London Greyhound, one of their "signature" drinks. Greyhounds are pretty standard I thought, but I didn't like it at all. Service was fine though. When we were seated, I didn't really like the proximity to other tables, and this place was said to have a view, but after the sun sets, it's just darkness outside, you can't even see the river or anything for that matter. You'd think an upscale place like this would have some type of lighting outdoors. The interior is like a trance lounge, purple, red and blue ambient lighting that changes periodically, with purple being the dominant color, accompanied by music that had me scratching my head at times. I also imagined the place to be several stories up, but it's on the first floor. The waiter, Keith, was quite friendly, as expected, and announced the night's feature, which was an 8 oz filet with lobster. He failed to tell me the price, but I ordered it because surf and turf is my thing, and I couldn't help but frown when I saw it was $48. There was a large group next to us sitting at a round table and we were only separated from them by two feet with a thin semi-see through veil between us, seemed to be populated by a lot gay people at the time, and they were quite rowdy. On to the food: we ordered Lobster Mashed potatoes, which came out not even room temperature, it wasn't anything special. We had the Surf and Turf sushi roll, which wasn't anything special either. You're allowed to substitute any of the starches or veggies that come with your entrees because they make everything from scratch. Keith forgot that my date wanted asparagus instead of spinach but was quick to fix it as soon as he checked up on us. The steaks here were the only thing worthy of 5 stars. Two filet entrees (one with lobster), a side of lobster mashed potatoes, a sushi roll, and a "London Greyhound" ran the bill to 148 The reason I gave the place 2 stars is because it doesn't blow you away. I've done quite of bit of fine and casual dining in Columbus as well as Los Angeles, and it just doesn't blow you away. Great service yes, but you're paying for it, so you don't get extra points for me at a place like this for service. Superior table service should come standard. For an occasion, splurge here, yes, but I wouldn't come back. It's not a deal by any means, there are plenty of places in Columbus where you would walk away with the same experience paying quite a bit less, being twice as satisfied, with food just as good if not better, with fewer douchebags trying to be high class, and obnoxious homosexuals (I'm not a homophobe). The restaurant shouldn't get marked down for it's clientele, but that is what you will find here, so fair warning if you're like me and put that kind of thought into your evening plans with a date. I'd say a simple girl would be impressed with the service and the venue, so make sure you have your goals in order when you try a new place and are reading Yelp for some field data. 2.75 Stars.

    M. As good as ever in all areas. Plus, they know how to put together a table celebration. We arrived on a lazy Monday night with three celebrations, and everyone, and I mean everyone, went out of their way to make it nice. Personalized greetings in chocolate writing on the plates of our gratis desserts ended a great evening. Service was attentive, very knowledgeable, and very discreet. Couldn't be happier with our M experience.

I realize that the majority of people who go to M have a great experience, sad to say I did not. A group of women decided to go to M for restaurant week so I was dragged along by a friend. I wasn't thrilled by the fixed price menu so I decided to make selections from the real menu. I chose two of the sushi rolls, the rock & roll and wasabi, to have as an entree. Since I didn't select an appetizer the waitress almost insisted that I choose something so I didn't have to sit there and watch them eat. I declined and had the bread instead. The waitress was kind enough to shout into my ear as I asked her questions, apparently no one discussed how to use your indoor voice when serving. It wasn't pleasant... Then the sushi came out and I have to say that they tried to present it well but it was lacking. I realize that Cameron Mitchell isn't a sushi chef, but I wasn't expecting to be let down. The rock & roll, made with tuna, salmon, and eel was lacking in taste and the eel was too chewy. It literally felt like I was chewing on fat rather than fish. When I made a comment to the waitress, rather than try to assist me she told me it wasn't what I was used to. Being the opinionated woman that I am, I may have made some comments about my disappointment to my friends. The manager came over but I was too nervous to tell her my true feelings. As for the wasabi roll, only one piece contained any wasabi peas so all of the kick was concentrated in that piece, it was shocking when I ate it. When it came time for dessert, everyone at the table had the mini cupcakes but I couldn't convince myself to try any of the desserts on the menu. The chocolate lava cake reminded me of what I had at Cameron's American Bistro, seeing as I was disappointed there I didn't want a repeat. I went with a glass of muscato to tide me over and nibbled on a friends cupcakes. They were definitely interesting, but I only enjoyed two of the five (the green tea really isn't my style and I noticed several of the women didn't eat theirs). I'm sad to say this was the least favorite of all of the Mitchell restaurants (and I've been to most). For the price I would have expected quite a bit more. The interior decorating is lovely, but that was the only positive to the experience. I won't be returning, I think I'll stick to my CM favorites.

Took out of town guests because you can't strike out with a Cameron Mitchell restaurant right? Sad to say, M at Miranova proved me wrong. The atmoshpere was clean and attractive, the staff was attentive but the food prep was well below average. My filet was tough and overcooked. My wife's fish had scale left in it and our guests were very polite about it as we were new to Columbus. There's a chance that it was a bad day but I won't find out.

Second time here. Food is good, service is above average for Columbus, nice ambience.

I may be stepping on some toes here, but this "at-first-glance" 5-star restaurant doesn't make you feel so special once your night is done. I have never been impressed by the service, having been made to wait at the bar more than once when I could clearly see there were a number of open tables. The other patrons in the bar, dressed like they should be on an MTV reality show, did not smile much, nor give me the time of day. I did not smile after spending $15 on a mediocre martini. Once seated it is hard not to be wow'd by your surroundings - the building's interior is sure to wow a date. As a connoisseur of value, however, the view is where the wowing ends. All the food is good, and the best meal I've ever had at M was the ahi tuna, which was exceptional. The caveat being I've spent much less on seared ahi elsewhere that I would claim is just as good. The wine list was impressive but overpriced, though they did have some hard to find bottles if you have the dough to dish-out to get them. It's a very cool place to celebrate a special occasion that you want to be visually memorable, but I see no reason to go back.

This is the best dining experience in Columbus. It's my go-to place for special occasions. The food is great, but the service is what sets it part. Also a cool spot for Friday happy hour, they have half price sushi.

M...hmm let's start with the good...i've been here several times, but finally decided to write a review after attending a going away party for a friend with 40or so of her colleagues and friends last week. It's a really cool spot. Transports you from downtown Columbus to maybe downtown Miami. Cool decor and the patio is really nice and chill. Black orchid is a really great drink and so super pretty with the orchid incased in ice. The shrimp cocktail was amazing! Biggest shrimp i've ever seen/had. They have a small cocktail list and pretty much all of them are so sweet you need about a gallon of water after each one to not go into shock. At $14 or so a piece, they could lay off the sugar and add some more booze. Service was super slow. For a private party they knew about ahead of time and dropped a serious amount on the tab, the six or so servers for the party could have taken less than 10-15 minutes per their return on refills. Also after being told several times by the host of the party to refill and replenish all the food, the cheese stood without crackers after about 7:45. So the delicious food was really never eaten because the request for plates went unanswered. I'm writing this review mainly from the standpoint of large parties or gatherings. I plan several of these a month for work, so just knowing that my guests won't have the chance to try anything because plates run out is a big turn off.

Took my wife there for date night last night - the interior of the restaurant is very classy and nice - great place for a romantic dinner date. We sat at one of the window tables - great view of the new Long Street bridge. Service was TOP notch - our server (Anthony) was very attentive to us - he took a very personal interest in our dining experience. My wife had the sushi (surf and turf) - she loves sushi and said it was the best sushi she ever had. I had the 14 oz steak - it was extremely delicious. The ONLY minor "negative" about this restaurant - if you want to use the restroom - you have to go out in the main lobby of the building to use their restroom (this restaurant is located inside the 2 Miranova Professional Building). Now, the restrooms were very nice, however I feel that if you are a top notch restaurant, you should ALWAYS have your own bathrooms. ALWAYS. Again, only a minor negative. Overall experience was very good - I would give this place 4.5 stars out of 5 overall.

Before heading over here on foot, I checked with the front desk at the nearby Westin where I was staying to make sure that a) it was in fact within walking distance (yes) and that b) it was safe at night to walk there (yes.) M is located on the ground floor of a 2-building office park and high-end condo complex at the end of the street off of High Street. It is super convenient to the Westin on High, and I was glad I didn't have to get back in the car and figure out parking someplace else. I was by myself, so the host was very accommodating and gave me a table in a section of the restaurant that no one else was seated in yet, and it remained empty throughout my meal. That was a bit odd, since I didn't even get in any good people watching, and it made me feel more alone. It didn't really matter though after reviewing the menu and settling in. My server was Michelle, who was great and very attentive. I ordered the pan-fried halibut, served on a bed of 4 scrumptious lobster raviolis covered in sweet corn emulsion. I had started the meal with a spectacular Caesar salad. The halibut was cooked perfectly -- with that lovely, crunchy, salty crust on it, giving way to succulent, meaty fish. Coupled with the sweetness of the corn sauce and the savory quality of the lobster inside, it made my toes curl. I finished it off with the decadent lava cake and homemade ice cream, which I never should have ordered since I felt like a beached whale already. Topped off with 2 glasses of fantastic pinot noir, and I was a happy, overstuffed little Ohio traveler. It was one of the best meals I've had in a long time, and ranks up there not just among places I've traveled to, but among all overall restaurant experiences. Just wish I'd had someone to share it with.

Damn good food - read the review that it's a safe walk from the Westin... I wouldn't want my wife walking it alone - but it's only about 10 mins... High-end, a tad too trendy for my tastes, but you can't fault the cocktails and sushi - pretty damn fresh considering we're in Columbus OH. Bartender supposedly won some award recently for Ginger cocktail, but I only enjoyed a couple of great glasses of Newton red...

As fine as fine-dining gets in Columbus, M sets the bar high for their competition. Perhaps the oddest part of the experience is actually walking into the place. First of all, valet your car. You are going to pay about the same price to park it in the secure garage yourself so toss the valet an extra few bucks and the keys. It's much easier. You enter 2 Miranova Place into a big, cold office building lobby but this should be your last reminder of the daily grind for the rest of your time here. Once through the tall glass door at the end of the lobby you enter the restaurant which has an elegantly modern decor. Huge white transparent drapes 'separate' the dining room into a few smaller sections and there are a few more private table options in the form of a private dining room or the 'barrel' table near the hostess area with tall wooden panels surrounding the table. The bar area features a few small tables and a larger tall under-lit faux-stone table. The entire wall behind the bar lights up in various colors and continuously fades almost imperceptibly through the entire color spectrum. Tiny LED lights at the top of the huge white curtains in the dining room match whatever color the bar wall is at that particular time. At the very back of the dining room are four round booths that are easily the tables of choice if your party has three or four people. Both the food and the service at M almost never disappoint. The menu changes more often than the staff here, which is always nice because if you had something in the past and it is no longer on the menu chances are good that your server knows what you are talking about and the chef knows how to make it. And they have been known to make special trips (if possible) to the supermarket or another restaurant if you have requested something that is not in the house. Sure, the price point is a little higher than most restaurants but this IS the crown jewel of the Cameron Mitchell Empire. Expect entrees to run from the high teens to high thirties and a drink could range from $3.50 (ie. Bud) to $140 (ie. Louis VIII), with just about everything in-between. There are several places around Columbus where you can go and spend about this to get about this, but none are as sure-fire for a good experience as M.

I was in Columbus for a business trip, staying at the Westin a few blocks away and am so glad I stumbled onto this place! The atmosphere was really cool, very neat seating for small groups, intimate little zones where you could feel all alone. That is once you are inside the very "cold" office building entrance. Our server - Erica, was fantastic! So funny and nice and cool! The warm sourdough bread was fantastic and that's coming from a SF native, so that's a good thing! Great wine list too! And my fav type of champagne by the glass!!! Bonus points! The food was soooo good! I ordered the tuna poke - which was good, not as great as I have had it elsewhere but pretty darn good! I thought the triangular "chips" that came with it were not quite the appropriate thing to eat with the poke, but that's just me. However, the Chilean Sea Bass was PHENOMENAL!!!!! It was perfectly cooked, the broth was amazing and the bonus of getting a few dumplings was awesome! Everyone agreed my dish was the best of the evening! My friends ordered the rib eye (with sides of truffle mac and cheese - yum, very rich but yummy! and asparagus) , the halibut which was delicious and the sea scallops which were great as well! Our only slight disappointment was our dessert. We ordered the chocolate cake and it wasn't quite warm enough so the oozy stuff in the middle wasn't quite as oozy as it should have been, but still good. And more ice cream would have been nice! All in all, a fantastic dining experience and when/if I am ever back in Columbus, I am headed back here for sure!!!

Double porkchops were cooked perfectly. The wine was delicious. The service was impeccable. There were no flaws at all. I'm ditching the last star because the environment was a bit too formal for me, the location (in an office building) was not great, and the prices are high. If you have the wallet and are looking to impress, then this is a good choice.

If the rating was based on the food alone, it would be 5 stars. However, the service was mediocre. But before I get to the bad, let's go over the good. The kobe slider burgers were great. Perfectly juicy on perfect mini buns with great tasting steak-cut fries. The Grape Crush drink I had was amazing. I never had a knack for grape, but apparently it was their most popular drink, so I went for it, and I was not disappointed. The Black Orchid drink was also good, with a slight lychee flavor, served over a ball of ice with an orchid flower in it. I loved the presentation. My filet was cooked to perfection, although I noticed both my steak and my boyfriend's prime steak had a charred taste on the outside. Their mac and cheese was so rich and creamy and cheesy, it was well worth the $11 price tag, Now, let's get to the bad. After we were seated, we waited ten minutes to be acknowledged. After we got our cocktail menus, we waited another 10 minutes to put our drink order and appetizer orders in. Our drinks came, but it wasn't our server who brought it over, so we couldnt put our food order in yet. Finally, after another 10 minutes, a manager came by and asked if we wanted more bread, so we took that chance to tell him we were ready to order. a MANAGER had to take our order. And at this point, it had been 30+ minutes since we've been seated before we could put our entree orders in. How absolutely sad. It took another 20 minutes for our food to get out, but it was well worth the wait. All in all, the experience was great. The decor was nice to look at, which was great since we had a lot of time to spare between waiting for our service and actually getting our food. I don't regret going, but I definitely don't want to go back. There are plenty of places in columbus with food just as good that won't cost us a $200 price tag for 2 people, and with service that is actually worth giving a tip. I'm pretty sure the valet boy deserved a better tip than our waitress.

M is exquisite. The drinks are one of a kind. My drink was filled with a circular ice cube with a frozen flower in it - divine. The grape crush is also really delicious. The veal mignon as well as the steak and eggs are both very good. We also had the crab cake appetizer. M is a great place for celebrations. Though, it would have been nice for this South Beach type restaurant to have been built on the roof as opposed the first floor so we could have a view of the city. It is quite expensive, but worth it for the special occasion!

5 stars for the best happy hour in town...M-F in the bar, 1/2 price appetizers and cocktails/wine. from 5-7. If you didn't know, M has the best bartender in Ohio

This restaurant always gets a visit when I visit Columbus. Great place to eat at the bar when Cris is working who is probably the best mixologist Ive come across. She is always trying new concoctions but definitely try the black orchid or orange pomelo martini. Their sushi is limited but delicious and on Friday is half-off. The soups are bland but the truffle fries are out of this world.

Been here several times since the restaurant opened. Always had a 5-star experience. Hm, where to start. Well the food is fantastic. Everything I have ever had, from a lobster claw stew-type dish to a cut of beef has been perfect. Wine list is second-to-none for Columbus. Service has been outstanding every time. I've come here with dates, I've brought my mother here for her birthday, regardless of who I'm with (or how I'm dressed) I always feel like royalty. The bar / lounge area is perfect for hanging out before (or after) dinner. Bring cash for the valet. No reason to pay for parking at Miranova. There are some new "fancy" restaurants opening in the area but for a fabulous, consistent dining experience, M is it.

So I finally gave in to the hype and celebrated a special occasion at M. It was definitely an experience worth celebrating. With excellent service, even better food and a romantic and hip atmosphere, it was everything I could have asked for. While the prices are steep, it is worth it for a special night out. Definitely recommended!

I normally love all of Cameron Mitchell's restaurants, but this place is so wildly overrated, it isn't even funny. We ate here for the first time in a few years this past Saturday night, and the experience reminded my wife and I why it took so long to go back. Had 7:30 reservations, and didn't get seated until 8:10. Had to stand like a couple of hobos in the small, overly-crowded bar area, and spent the first 15 minutes of our wait trying to get a single drink....I am not exagerrating here....15 minutes. Only two bartenders were working, and everyone waiting in line was bitching about why they would not have more staff at such a busy restaurant. Management clearly dropped the ball here. The hostess was very apologetic while seating us, and gave us free champagne, which at least demonstrated that they felt badly about the wait, so we thought that was a classy and gracious thing to do. Once we were seated, it took almost 10 minutes before our waiter came to our table, and the food and drinks took a long time to arrive. Had the caterpillar sushi roll, which was good, and the filet was cooked perfectly, but the sauce had a overly smoky, slightly burned flavor, which we did not enjoy at all. We loved smoked foods, but the chef went WAY overboard on the smoke flavor. Yuck. The couple next to us both had the filets, and only each ate about 1/3 of them, making the same comment about the taste. My wife's salmon with gnocchi was fine, but nothing spectacular. I doubt we will go back any time soon.

M wins my vote for best patio in the city. This luscious and decadent outdoor area will make you feel transported to an Arabian Night. M is my favorite place to go for late night cocktails. Even during the weekend it is not too busy and you can feel like you have the place to yourself. While I love the bar with its phallic sculptures and theatre lighting, if its summer you know I am outside. To get to the patio you have to exit the main restaurant. Opening the heavy door, entering the patio is entering a different world. Back lit by some of the best skyline views of the city its a great place to relax and talk. The seating is cushions and plush long couches. There are heat lamps to eliminate the chill of a summer evening. The patio is underneath a terrace hung with plants and lighting, but not enough for it to be overly bright. Sitting out here reminds of me of paintings of Roman courtesans lounging about and eating fruit. While I would not recommend stretching that far out, I would recommend putting your feet up on an ottoman and a glass of champagne. The patio at M is a great way to enjoy one of the cities best restaurants on a budget. Just having a few drinks is enough atmosphere and service to recreate a full dining experience with out breaking the bank.

Most undoubtedly I had my best meal in Columbus at M. Food, service, atmosphere were all top notch. I had halibut with lobster raviolis in a sweet corn emulsion, and thought I died and went to heaven. The fish was so flaky I almost couldn't pick it up. As for the lobster periogies, it might be difficult to ever find something so delicious. The waitress was the nicest girl ever, so friendly, she like me and the girl I took so much that she rang up our desert as our anniversary and we got it for free. We got the doughnuts and the banana bread pudding and both were above and beyond good. I really couldnt think of a complaint if I tried. If was pretty pricey, but I have absolutely no problem spending money on a meal that good. Worth every penny.

The food was all decent but if you're looking for EXCELLENT food, which is what i was expecting for the price($35 just for the steak, no sides), go elsewhere. I had the dry-aged Kansas City Strip, there was nothing wrong with it but it didn't impress me. If you're looking for a great steak check out J. Gilberts on the north side or The Clarmont on the south side, both of which are in the same price range. For all around better food, not just steak, check out G. Michael's Bistro. Cameron Mitchell restaurants are always highly touted but always seem to let me down. Again there is nothing really wrong with them but there are just much better restaurants all over Columbus.

Just came back from the "M". LOVED IT! Beautiful place with friendly and intelligent service (meaning they check on you at the right time without being in your face every five minutes). The food was wonderful. Our orders (for four) ranged between chicken, veal, seafood (bass), and a vegetarian dish which they cooked as a special order. That was actually an interesting experience because there were no vegetarian entrees on the menu. Yet when my mom-in-law asked for a vegetarian suggestion, our waitress happily responded "we can make whatever you'd like". And they did, literally. Everyone was very happy with their choices. We had a chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream for dessert and it was delicious. Last but not least - the ambiance and the energy at the "M" are beautiful. You can choose to sit inside or outside (try that on a nice night, it's worth it!). They play nice music arrangements and the color display behind the bar changes every few minutes, projecting beautiful soft colors throughout the entire room. We will definitely be back.

took my girlfriend here to celebrate valentine's day a few years ago and it was a great place, great food, and great service, all the things you can usually expect from the cameron mitchell restaurants (except molly woo's which is terrible). i notch one star because i think its price is a bit higher than its quality.
