My friend Travis and I were walking down High Street after lunch at Mac's this afternoon. Just before we got to the cap we stopped for a moment. Standing there in front of this little shop, we peered in. "I didn't know this place was here. Looks pretty cool" I said. Travis said the same. "Ready to move on?" I asked Travis after a minute or so. "Sure, Mike, let's go". But wait. There's something wrong here. I looked down to see my hand reaching out to grab the the door handle. The door opened and Travis and I were pulled into the shop. It was like we were floated into this shop filled with sweets. What was this force? Was it God? The Devil? Premium Chocolates? It was all a whirl after we got through the chocolate portal. Surreal. I don't remember much other than they asked us several questions. They were probing, trying to find our weaknesses. Look at the pretty chocolates. Smell that? Look at that. They drew us into their web of chocolate morsels with their different colors, weird shapes, and various chocolates. We were helpless against them. My head was spinning. Travis too was mesmerized by the sight. Fistfuls of our hard earned money was handed over to these evil chocolatiers. We were given chocolate covered bacon, with sea salt no less, truffles, chocolates with nuts and other flavors to tantalize us. It was a fix to get us hooked. And then....they smiled at us. They even thanked us, "for coming in" Yeah right. It wasn't of our choice to come in, you evil people in you cute little shop of cocoa and sugars. Our heads are clear now and the chocolate was eaten hours ago. You exploited our weaknesses this time, we'll see who wins the next time when we come back!

There is that aroma that reminds me of the movie Chocolat. Any avid chocolate lover almost finds themselves guided into this store when shopping in the Easton mall area. The row of truffles and candies are exquisite. This surely does not pair with what one would see in Belgium. But this is probably as close as you might get in Ohio. From pyramids to flowers to animals, Le Chocoholique has it all. I had a hard time deciding whether I wanted champagne or orange peel in mine :) They look like little ornaments to adorn a china cabinet. The taste is divine. Though I can't comment on which are the best, as the cost is $2-4 per chocolate. I got the pyramid-shaped chocolate with a large cup of Cappuccino. I imagine that their hot chocolate hits the spot. Prices are similar to what one pays at Starbucks for coffee beverages. The sitting area is simple and elegant. The big windows and patio go right out to the fountain with frog statues. Surrounding neighborhood is upscale with high end brand stores. Public parking is free a couple of blocks down the street.

Loved my experience at this quaint little place. The service was friendly. Three open air style shutters were awesome. I had a happy hour drink (3-7 M-F) and of course I had to indulge in chocolate. I'll definitely go back -- it's relaxing there.

I tried 3 chocolates: Strawberry Shortcake, Yuzu, and Pistachio. They were all delicious, but the Yuzu was without a doubt my favorite. Can't wait to try more next time. The service was excellent and the shop is nicely decorated. The only issue is there isn't any parking nearby, other than metered parking.

You could look at their chocolates for hours. The flavors they blend together are mostly unique with some typical options. This place is a perfect after dinner stop. Chocolate and a night cap, what more could one ask for. Ps- the Blueberry Lemonade is a MUST try.

The chocolates were very good, and of a very high quality, though I understand they're not made in house. For that, I felt the prices were a bit high for artisan candy. The cake batter smoothie was delicious, but I felt that they could have improved it by using home-made whip cream (takes five minutes) and Snowville milk (or other locally sourced milk).

I was REALLY disappointed in Le Chocoholique after all of the oozing raves. First the good: * Boozy - love the liquor license. Red wine + chocolate = happy times. A longer wine list than I had expected. * Great location, lots of street traffic to watch as you hang out. Parking is possible if you're not a miser. * Design/colors are nice. Dark and comfy. * Bathroom was clean. * A bazillion different bonbons. Lots of offbeat combos. Interesting. The disclaimer: * I did not try a dessert or coffee. May be awesome. The meh: * The three bonbons I tried were only ok. One with blueberry, one with merlot, and one with salted caramel. None made my eyes go wide and say "oh, wow, yeah", which with those flavors, really should have been the case. * Which is a problem since the chocolate is pretty pricey. OK. Really pricey. I get the rent is high at the location, and you have chosen a business model with a really expensive supply chain, but your chocolates had better make me weak kneed for that price in this town. * This is just me I suppose... But it seems like they are trying to be a chocolate-themed Trader Joes. One or two of everything. Pare it down and focus on quality. Or, make it up in volume. It probably won't be mine though. ***Update*** I just looked at my credit card statement, and it looks like they submitted their (annoyingly high) charge twice. Swell.

Gorgeous presentation and variety - was visiting Columbus and had to visit! The chocolate eclair I ate with coffee was a bit too sweet, but the lovely french pastry made up for it......

Hello chocolate! Who doesn't love chocolate? (Everyone should) this place is amazing and everyone here is super friendly. There are so many options that I wanted to try them all but was afraid I would walk away 5 lbs heavier.... I guess I will have to come back again to try some more later!

Not a place I purchase from too often becasue we typically only purcahse organic fair trade chocolate bars to get out chocolate fix. Wish they used local dairy and organic/fairtrade cane sugar and cocoa. Does such a chocolatier even exist in the Columbus area? Anyway, its very hard to resist bringing my 2 1/2 year old son in here when we are in the Short North area. The look on his face (and probably mine as well) is comical. The display cases are perfect for a little one...they are down to floor level, well lit, and rows of colored chocolate candies seem to go on forever. Prices range $2-$4 for each piece so it can add up quickly. I'm a toffee freak so I always get the almond toffee crunch and nothing bad can be said about it. I also really like their caramel. Its always different but once I had the strawberry banana and another time the apple cinnamon. Definitley unique and very tasty. My son usually picks out a turtle and a butterfly. They are so cute and always tasty. We have had a few other chocolates form here and nothing stands out in my mind as being bad or to die for. There bar menu sounds so fun...I need to drink more..lol. Have had an Americano here...its just o.k. If you are in the area its def a place ot stop in and see. bonus- the front windows all open to high street so on a nice day they open them and its very airy. They have wifi and I love the big black leather couch. tip-need a unique and quick gift? Go pick out 4-6 chocolates and they will put them in a pretty little box. Viola :)

I reallllllllllly wanted to love this place, as I love chocolate and will eat any type of chocolate even if it comes from the Dollar Tree! This place is outrageously expensive for Columbus. I spent a little over $12 for 4 pieces of chocolate. After I paid, I was really excited because I figured the stuff would really knock my socks off and it would be worth the high price. Wrong. I didn't even finish some of them, which is pretty unheard of for me...the only chocolate I've never finished before was a Vosges Chili Lime candy bar that just wasn't my style. The only one I really did like was the birthday cake truffle...that was very tasty. I've never tried their other desserts, just the chocolates in the display cases, so I can't rate those.

Update: The owner contacted me after my review and was extremely apologetic and professional. She has invited me back for a second try. It says a great deal about owners who are genuinely interested in correcting mistakes that are made. I'm going to give it another shot (and still ask when the product was made!).

Went on a whim with a friend for drinks, and to look at the beautiful chocolates. When I feel like splurging on chocolates for a loved-one, I will definitely stop by here. Perfect for not over-indulging on chocolates. The shop keepers there were extremely nice also! They took their time to make sure I got my chocolate from the coin machine~ The machine was not being cooperative that day, and it seemed like it would be better to just take my $0.50 back, but the shop keeps kept workin' at it and I got some delicious chocolates! The drinks were priced fairly IMO. I would definitely be going back if I am in the area!!!

I always find that buying X-mas gifts is a most difficult endeavor. I love giving and receiving, but I find I either end up getting people the same thing year after year because I know they like it, or forever feeling anxious because I'm not sure if the person may already own the "perfect gift" I found. I know too that most people have enough "stuff" and really don't need or want more unless it's exceptional. For this reason, I have largely turned to buying "usable" gifts for my friends and family over the last few years, especially in the form of locally-made food stuffs that they simply cannot get where they live. Le Chocoholique, conveniently located on High Street, was perfect for fulfilling this requirement and helping me to finish my Holiday shopping this year. A small, elegantly simple shop on the corner of High, right near the Cup O Joe, Chocoholique offers a wide variety of fancy 2-bite size chocolates, some made by the store itself, others imported from the area or other places. They are all stunning to look at and, of those I've tried anyways, scrumptious to eat. There is also a flavor for pretty much anyone, whether it be the traditional dark chocolates and caramels, tongue biting absinthe and other liquor laced concoctions, delicate bite sized desserts in citrus and berry flavors, or seasonal delights like peppermint and gingerbread. Prices are about average I suppose for fancy chocolates. Most are $1.50~3.00 a piece. Not something you're going to gorge yourself on all the time unless your job pays a lot better than mine, but they're perfect for a special treat...for yourself or someone else. The staff will be happy to help you put together your order, putting it nicely in the boxes and tying with ribbon. The girl who assisted me on the day I went was very friendly, happy to offer suggestions, and quite patient despite my long order. There were a few other people on staff too which was good since with a number of people to buy for, each with very different tastes, it took quite a while to put together all the little boxes of chocolates. If you don't have time or don't really want to put together a box of chocolates, you can always grab one of the bars from the display rack. Conversely, if you want to take some time, put your feet up, and enjoy a little indulgence, there are a number of fancy looking desserts and a list of coffee and other drinks available for sale. This visit I did try a basic cappuccino which was good. They offer a whole bunch of more interesting flavors too, but... Anyways, I'm not sure it's a place I'd go to drink coffee, but if out on high street, coffee and chocolate are always a nice combination.

I have been to Le Chocoholique several times and found them noteworthy for their selection of gorgeous individual chocolates, smaller artisanal chocolate brands and excellent desserts. I went in the other day to get a box for a friend who had surgery and was super pleased that I could arrange my own box AND they could print out a guide to what was inside on the spot--very classy. However I also treated myself to a chocolate brioche and it was so terrible it practically ruined the experience. It was like eating dust and I only had two bites. I have never come so close to just asking for my money back in my life, but I figured it wasn't worth $2 to go back but UGH I seriously shuddered everytime I thought about it. It really made me skeptical about trying the baked goods again. I think I'll stick to coffee and chocolates.

Hmm why did I not know this existed? I thought I had some super power to smell chocolate from a mile away, I guess I will have to start thinking of what my real super power is... okay anyways back to the review. I was down at gallery hop and was brought in by the spinning display of desserts in the window and the poster promising baileys in my hot chocolate. The have a small bar with stools, a nice comfy seating area and then of course the display of tiny, pretty, elegant, delicious chocolates filled with everything that is amazing and tasty! There was a long line looking at those lil guys so I skipped them for this visit. We sat at the bar and I went for something different and went with a chocolate covered pretzel martini. My friend got the key lime pie martini and then of course we got gummy bear shots. The chocolate covered pretzel martini was very good! It had chocolate sauce on the inside then a bunch of awesome liquor and then a salt rimmed glass. The key lime pie martini tasted exactly like a key lime pie! AND then you think you have had a gummy bear shot at a bar where they hand it to you in those lil dixie cups, but no sir, these were in a tall shot glass and had a giant gummy bear (by giant I mean like an inch tall). I will definitely come back to try their coffee drinks and maybe one of those desserts I spotted in the window...

All I wanted was a place to get out of the rain. I was early for a meetup, I'd been walking up High Street to avoid paying for more parking, and I wanted a place to go in and kill a little time out of the rain. Le Chocoholique was there, so I ducked in, and was greeted right away by the two women on staff and the massive display of all the different chocolate truffles. A little signboard mentioned their daily special - dark chocolate brownie bites with sea salt caramel and peanut butter. How could I not try one of those? I got one, and a bottle of water, so I didn't feel like a total squatter. Ooh, that was a delicious mistake. The brownie bite (encased in a chocolate ganache!) had a wonderfully strong, almost bitter foundation from the dark chocolate, followed by the sweet/savory bite of the caramel, and the rich smoothness of the peanut butter rounding it out. Yum. After I grabbed another one of those to go, I looked around the truffles and was fascinated by some of the more...shall we say unconventional? flavors. Bleu cheese and dark chocolate truffle? Interesting. Milk chocolate parmesan? Fleur de sel and pecan? Jameson's whiskey? Yes, yes, yes, and more besides. I ended up with a small box of truffles to take home as well, and a promise to myself that I'd be good and save them for special occasions...and then I broke the promise once I got home. I just HAD to try the bleu cheese, and I'm happy to say it was as deliciously strange as I hoped it would be. I was also impressed that when I was walking back to my car after dinner, I happened to pass one of the women who'd been minding the store (very possibly one of the owners, but I didn't ask), and she gave me a friendly wave and a cheerful "Hello!" as we passed each other. I wasn't shocked to be recognized (I am a pretty unique looking chap), but I appreciated that I wasn't just Customer #2471 that day. I'm trying to behave about not buying too much chocolate for myself, but I have a feeling that the next time I need something to give as a gift, I'll be stopping into Le Chocoholique again, even if there isn't any rain to speak of.

A lot o pretty over priced chocolates to look at. Yeah its a nice lets stop in a grab a couple pieces after dinner, but really I would be ok with going to Godiva. Staff never really seems to excited to be working there, which really doesnt make me to too excited to purchase their chocolate.

In my opinion, this place is representative of everything wrong in the Columbus foodie scene. Yes, the High street location is sleek and it looks sophisticated, but it's nothing more than hipster eye candy. #1. They don't make these chocolates, they just sell them. The staff, consisting of two nearly mute grad students, were unfamiliar with their stock and completely uneducated about their origins. The best answer I received was "They come from a lot places, we order from a lot of chocolatiers." They definitely garnered a poor score on knowledge and local pride. #2. The customer service was appalling. We weren't greeted when we entered the store, and both of the employees seemed confused and stared wide-eyed at us when we inquired about this truffle or that one, and began to place our order. I honestly think they may have been high, which wouldn't normally bother me, but it made communicating with them a bit of a chore. #3. It's just too expensive. If I'm paying $3.50 for a bite of chocolate, I want to know where it was made, how fresh it is, maybe even an anecdote about how the chef discovered the recipe. I definitely DON'T want to purchase what may be days old chocolates at an exorbitant price from distracted twenty-somethings. #4. The taste of the chocolates we purchased ranged from meh to simply decent, there were no superstars or special memories here. Compared with the confections at Pure Imagination or my favorite hometown chocolate shop, they were forgettable and almost unappetizing. Yes, there are a myriad of choices and you can drink there, but is that really worth it? Not for my money.

Overpriced and dissatisfying. The large selection of chocolates was appealing to the eye, but the overwhelming selection lead to a frustrating decision making process. After paying nearly $2 per chocolate, I was expecting an amazing experience. Instead, the chocolates tasted like they came from a Whitman's sampler - old and generic. Enjoy the calories you consume and hop over to Jeni's ice cream instead.

Fantastic selection, so hard to choose what to buy, but can certainly be overpriced--$4.00+ for one tiny (yet tasty) marzipan hippo? (I bought it anyway, ha ... and it was delicious.) Set-up is lovely, and I enjoy the couches. Do agree with some others that the service can be ho-hum.

This place was great! I had a s'mores martini (complete with a torched marshmallow rim) and a pecan pie truffle. Both were delicious! For those complaining about prices, you have clearly never been to a gourmet chocolate shop before. $2-5 per piece is pretty standard. The people I was with ordered a variety of martinis and chocolates. I can't remember what everyone had, but I know one person had the chocolate covered pretzel martini and she loved that. I think someone also had a pumpkin pie martini. Basically everything we had was delicious. The staff was also very friendly and helpful and even offered us trash bags when we left because it was raining!

Replacing the old Starbucks, a proper Chocolate store that Columbus can be proud of - a place on par with those in larger cities, and with lower prices to boot. While the service and traffic flow could use some pointers and seating could be more efficient this little shop has a lot going for it. For the time being I feel their truffle selection is perhaps a bit too large (I imagine they will lose some inventory due to unsold product) but time will allow them to determine what sells and glean their selection. In addition to the "wow" factor of the truffle cases I'll personally be wowed by their sourcing. From white to 80% cocoa, from vegan to Mo's Bacon bar - Amadei, Valrhona, Jacques Torres, Vosges, Scharffen Berger, Jacques Torres, Recchiuti, and more - pretty much a whose who from both coasts, Italy, and France (and three of my favorite producers save for Christopher Elbow.) Here's hoping they can stay in business in an area where many haute-cuisine companies seem to struggle.....like most foods, chocolate is an area where you often get what you pay for - and what Le Chocoholique is offering is a good price for the quality they offer.

I came here late one Friday night with some friends because we were craving dessert and it was one of the only places still open. We enjoyed the desserts but found the atmosphere a little jarring. We ending up getting two desserts of a hazelnut and raspberry variety that I don't remember the names of (check out Lin L.'s pictures). They were presented beautifully and I was worried it would be a case of "looks better than it tastes" but both were delicious and not too rich. However, we didn't enjoy the atmosphere as much as we did the desserts. The place was very loud because the club music was turned up high and the windows were open so you could hear all the outside street sounds. But, that is probably because it was late Friday night and they were trying to create a trendy, Short North bar/lounge vibe. I get it but it felt a little weird. I didn't try any of the chocolate and I don't think I ever will due to the high price tag. However, they looked good and almost too pretty to eat! I loved the animal-shaped pieces, so cute. They also have a nice selection of unique treats like bacon chocolate bars and chocolate covered potato chips.

For some reason I've avoided Le Chocoholique up until today. I can't really explain why, but, I just had no desire to go. Today though, the boyfriend and I were walking around the Short North and decided to end the night with iced coffees and a few little desserts. The interior was nice. It looked a lot nicer than the Starbucks that previously occupied the location. The dessert selection was overwhelming but in a good way. There can never be too many pretty desserts to pick from. I decided to go with a pretty little Buckeye and the boy got a peanut butter bonbon and a chocolate covered Oreo. The few things that annoyed us was that my boyfriend's chocolate covered Oreo ended up NOT BEING a chocolate covered Oreo. It was a chocolate covered SOMETHING with caramel inside. Also, his iced hot chocolate had too many ice chunks that were getting caught in his straw. I really have no complaints, though, my iced mocha was just alright. My go-to place for pretty desserts is Pistacia Vera and will continue to be so. Though, I told my boyfriend that if I'm ever in a bad mood he can go to Le Chocoholique and get me an assortment of truffles in the shapes of animals. THOSE would definitely cheer me up. :D

I was both overwhelmed and underwhelmed by Le Chocholique. The shop is very pretty with so many good looking chocolates! When I walked in and started browsing, I saw probably 25 or more must trys. Asking the young girl behind the counter for information and recommendations was practically useless. She was more interested in singing and dancing to the store's muzak than helping me out with such an important decision. So, while I wanted pretty much everything, I got sticker shock and settled for only one. My companions each got one as well. The 3 pieces together cost $6. But, I saw some peices were $4 alone. Yikes! I got the peanut butter and jelly, which was not very good. It was very pretty but had a poor peanut butter to jelly ratio and the peanut butter didn't taste of quality or fudge for that matter. I felt jipped. My boyfriend got the bacon caramel that did not taste like bacon, nor had any visible bacon in it. His brother got the chocolate and reese piece covered pretzel rod, which was just like any other that you can get in the mall shop. Needless to say, I won't be back. I'd rather go to the shop in the North Market. But, it was a fun adventure in chocolate and I bet they have some stuff that is down-right knock-your-socks-off good. I just didn't hit the lottery that trip.

I wanted to put together a sampler of local chocolates and the man behind the counter was incredibly helpful. There are signs that tell you which of the chocolates are house made, but he gave me personal recommendations and told me which ones he had helped to make. Also: their blue cheese truffle is to die for. The place is expensive, but they provide excellent service and it's a good place to buy gifts/experiment as fast/slow as your budget allows.

Willy Wonka would be intimidated! I never envisioned a chocolate experience quite like that at Chocoholique. Rows and rows of truffles, dips, cups, drops... White chocolate, dark chocolate, booze chocolate, pretty chocolate too good looking to eat... (Flashback to Forrest Gump scene where Bubba is naming all of the shrimp combos...) There were even a few tables available to sit and "dine" on your chocolate of choice. I was hoping to see some coffee or something to quench my choco-loving thirst, but all I saw were cute bottles of Coke products in a cooler by the chocolate display. I don't think I'll be frequenting Chocoholique on a regular basis any time soon, but will surely be back every now and again to grab the occasional sugar-tooth-satisfy-er or gift for a friend of loved one.

I've been meaning to stop in, so after an early dinner at Betty's we sampled some chocolates and an espresso (decent). Their selection is, as others have said, overwhelming. It is organized into rough categories (peanut butter, seasonal, liquors and alcohol, fruit, ect) and treats run between fifty cents and $4 each, which seems entirely appropriate to me for a gourmet chocolate. At first glance, it's the huge selection that is impressive, and then the fact that each chocolate is a beautiful little piece of art. We sampled five chocolates, the honeycomb (delicious), one white and one dark chocolate passion fruit (tart and very flavorful- not something I would crave but good for trying something different), raspberry heart (standard & good), and a mojito (surprisingly similar to an actual mojito). A note, though, that they do have standard items (chocolate covered pretzels, marshmallows, turtles, ect) that would be enjoyed by less adventurous guests or kids. I joked that I should have gone about it in a more practical way as to try all flavors eventually, and the owner remarked that he can take your email address and save your order so the next time you come in you know what you've already sampled. He also said he was playing with the idea of a computer or an iPod that customers can use to record what they've had and/or record their selections and send in their order on busy nights (which would be a fantastic idea... by the time you get to the end of the case you've forgotten what you wanted to try at the beginning). Even a piece of paper with all of the flavors to check off yourself (with a little area for descriptions, wine style) would be a fantastic improvement. They also had a selection of absolutely beautiful pastries. We didn't try any, but I'd plan to in the future. The atmosphere is nice, with tables and candles. I've been thinking for a while that the SN needed a late-night dessert place. All of those restaurants and so few places to go and continue an evening after dinner. They're open until 9 on weekdays and 10 on weekends, but we were told they will have later operating hours in the summer. I will definitely keep this in mind as a later-evening stop.

An overwhelming chocolate experience! Before walking down the street to Le Chocoholique, I called to see if they were still open. The person answered the phone "hello?", so I was instantly confused. My first tip would be to answer the phone correctly for a business. Once we got there, we were greeted by the super-friendly staff! My first impression was that the store was pretty and they had a lot of chocolate to choose from. The more I looked at the chocolate, the more overwhelmed I became. I almost felt like they should have some type of widget that helps a customer decide which chocolate to get based on some of their preferences. Well, I decided on a Thai Peanut Butter Cup and a Tortue (a turtle). I didn't love the Thai Peanut Butter Cup, but I did love my Tortue!

Seriously the best chocolate I have ever tasted. The time they take to craft these little treasures is astounding. The price is well worth it. It is a quaint coffee boutique in the Short North of Columbus; stop by after dinner for a treat or for a snack after an afternoon of window shopping.

Worst. Hot. Chocolate. Ever. With the decor and beautiful chocolates in the shelf, I was expecting that they would serve a gourmet hot chocolate, but instead I got a cup of lukewarm chocolate syrup mixed with milk. Very disappointing. Perhaps their chocolates are better, but the hot chocolate - which is what we craved on a cold winter day - was an epic fail.

I brought my friends from out of town to the Short North and we stopped here, since I am a chocoholic. I was very disappointed in the experience. The chocolate is way overpriced. Seriously, $3.00 for a piece of chocolate? The chocolate was good, but not good enough to pay $2-$3.00 for. My advice would be to skip this place, go to Marc's and get some Gianno's chocolate, which is just as good, but a fraction of the price.

We went to try this for a quick dessert on a date night since we had never been there. Can't say I'd go back. Like others mentioned, the chocolates are hard and not handmade, so you do kind of feel like there's a big box of something in the back they are just taking them out of. There's tons of variety, and what I had was very good. My wife though really wanted a caramel. The person in front of us took the last milk chocolate caramel, but I placed our order to see if they had any more. The guy got mine, then realized the caramels were out, so grabbed something else that had caramel in it from a different section of the case and gave it to us. Upon checking out (it takes ridiculously long here for some reason? like a minute or 2 to subtotal and take payment on the computers?) the person behind us ordered caramels and their guy said sure, they had more in the back and he would go get them. Well when we walk outside and eat them, sure enough my wife's is full of white buttercream or something, not caramel, so she throws it away. Wasted $2. Oh, and mine was $3 for one piece of chocolate. Yeah I'd rather get like a pound of frozen yogurt than their overpriced chocolates.

This boutique of chocolate reminds me of the gelaterias and chocolatieres of Europe. Where the building itself is a confection and the interior is a sensory heaven for the eyes and nose as you stroll past glass confection cases. If you liked the movie, Chocolat, you'll love this. It has that home, yet-upscale feel. If you haven't seen it, DO. It gives you a feel for the immersion and love in the chocolate making process. Know your budget and be prepared to spoil yourself when you go in. I tend toward rich, flavored (and alcoholic) ganaches. As others mentioned, my palate begged for a cup of espresso or strong java. The experience alone set this one aside from your mall Godiva.

Yes, there's tons of chocolate. Yes, it's really pretty. Yes, it smells good. But I couldn't be more irritated with this chocolate shop. My rant begins with the fact that all the chocolates are imported...no hand-making or hand-dipping in the store. When the store first opened I heard whispers of chocolate-covered Oreos and chocolate-covered potato chips. I was thrilled to try both. I am not normally a huge chocolate fan and really have to be craving it to walk myself to a chocolate store. So, with nothing to curb my craving I headed to Chocoholique to try the Oreos and chips. Of course, I show up...no Oreos, no potato chips, ugh! That's what happens when everything is imported. I found the girl behind the counter to be less than helpful. After inquiring about the Oreos and chips, it wasn't clear if they existed. She just seemed irritated that I walked in the door... Considering the chocolates aren't made here, I would advise others to go somewhere else. You can get imported chocolates anywhere, like Sam's Club, Wal-mart or your favorite grocery store. And, you might even save some money going elsewhere.

Very good quality chocolates, some made in house and some ordered from other chocolatiers. We went every night during our 4 night stay in Columbus. For me, this is a great alternative to having dessert out, as a couple of chocolates are less impact than a slice of cake or pie. Plus you get to stand there and look and look and finally make your choices. My favorites were the Fleur de Sel dark chocolate caramel turtle and the absinthe truffle. Pastries are available here too, though I didn't try any. They have a truly interesting drink menu, but I went with the cafe mocha on one occasion and an Americano on another, and both were good.

Whipped in for a few minutes to grab a yummy treat after eating Greek further down the street, on our way back to a show we were doing at the Convention Center. Pricey for what it is. We got a chocolate dipped macaroon which was good, and a totally tasteless cheesecake swirled brownie. The staff though did know what the goodies were. There are SO MANY other better places, just too bad. I wanted to love them more!

After dinner in Short North I discovered a parking ticket for illegally parking in a residential zone. My thoughts on how the CPD should spend their time are irrelevant here, but I was sure my Friday evening was shot to hell since my dessert/cocktail budget had just been diminished by $40. Anyway, I was wrong. I have an insatiable sweet tooth that seems to forget when I've just eaten and can never turn down chocolate. After perusing all of the display cases for a good fifteen minutes, trying to decide between truffles and buckeyes and various chocolate animals, I realized they have full sized desserts too. I had the tiramisu, which was tasty and presented beautifully. My biggest complaint is they don't serve wine. I was anticipating a nice cabernet or merlot to accompany dessert... and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks so? They do have beer and cocktails, but it's not the same. I settled for a vanilla latte, and that's why they only get three stars. In the future, I'd stop here for special occasion desserts or a late night snack... but until they get wine, I'll be taking mine to go. Update 11/22/11: They have wine! Their list is pretty short, but has the standards, soo my review went up one star. I also tried their pumpkin spice cheesecake last night. Good stuff.

Le Chocoholique had a huge selection that paired chocolate with pretty much any other remotely edible flavor I can imagine. They were on the expensive side, but on par with other super nice chocolate places I've visited elsewhere. Lots of cutesy shapes that would make an impressive gift, and a big enough variety that almost anyone should be able to pick something. I ended up with a caramel pecan cluster and it was tasty. I resisted the dark chocolate covered twinkie but if I go back I think I'll give in and try it. They also had a fondue for two option that looked amazing. The bottom line is that it's worth a look, and you'll have a hard time not buying at least one chocolate. But one chocolate may be all you can afford.

Le Chocolique is one of those places that you'd be tempted to give five stars if you weren't paying, but once you pull your wallet out, you realize how ridiculously overpriced it is. Well, maybe not overpriced; it's clearly top-shelf chocolate. But very, very, very expensive. I thought Anthony-Thomas was expensive, but this is double. And to be honest, it's not doubly good. If you have a favorite combo of chocolate, fillings and toppings, there is no question you'll find it here. My faves are caramel and toffee, and I found lots of variations of both. I ended up buying a toffee that was supposed to have bacon mixed in with it, but if it was there, I couldn't taste it. It basically tasted like a Heath bar to me. I also had a salted caramel that I'm sure many people would have found far too salty. It was easily the saltiest chocolate I've ever eaten. But since I heart salt, I thought it was awesome. My wife was enamored by the well-crafted animal-shaped chocolates, and she got a lamb and a... a bunny? I forget the other one she got. But she liked both of them. The store has a nice ambiance as well, with friendly service and a couple of cute touches like the old-school gumball machine filled with (what I think were) chocolate-covered espresso beans (50 cents for a few). But when four (4) chocolates cost more than $14, this probably isn't a place I'll patronize too often.

Stopped in today and was completely overwhelmed by the selection at Le Chocoholique. It took me 5 minutes to decide on two flavors, which elicited the comment "Wow, that was fast" from behind the counter. It's nice to know that others need as much time as I do to select two or three flavors from the massive selection of truffles and caramels. There didn't seem to much method to the madness - no organized chaos to speak of. I agree with Michael U. about the selection needing some trimming down. I just let my eyes and wallet be by guide in selecting my treats. The sweets come in from all over the world, from independent chocolatiers to larger shops like Vosges. I picked two French Mascarpone Truffles and two Maple Bacon Caramels from Truffle Truffle - which came out to $7.95. Yeah, this place is pricey. Some truffles weigh in at $1-$2 while others top out at $4 a piece. The French Mascarpone Truffles made me moan in a way that would make Larry Flint blush. These truffles are a surefire way to my heart (or pants). The Maple Bacon Caramels were disappointing - too grainy and dissolved into a sugary lump in my mouth. I'll say this about the selection, it really makes me want to become a repeat customer and conquer each truffle until I find the one that I can swear by. I would love to see a frequent buyer program initiated, that would really seal the deal!

Food: 4 Decor: 4 Service: 3 I dropped by here around 11am on a weekday. The place was empty, but the cabinets were full of chocolates. According to the guy there, the most popular ones are the Velvet Elvis, seasonal ones, and caramels. I opted for the Velvet Elvis, and it was indeed pretty good (45% cacao deep milk chocolate with peanut butter, bananas, and bacon = yum). Definitely a good place to drop by for a special treat/gift, and their selections are amazing.

I'm not really the chocolate lover in the relationship, though I enjoy it. So, I'll write mostly from my gf's perspective on our recent visit. We actually visited on two consecutive nights after she tried some the first night. She wanted more. As stated my other reviewers, huge selection and fairly pricey. Though, for a specialty shop, I'm not surprised at the pricing. A couple suggestions we (mostly the gf) have: for larger orders of chocolate, a box would be better than a bag to prevent distorting the chocolate. The Smore Latte was tasty. No complaints. But maybe tie in marshmallows (in the drink) and a chocolate grahm cracker to complete the theme.

I'm relatively certain that everything here is bought at Sam's Club and "re-packaged" on their display. Make up your own opinion, but that's mine.

Rum Delight, Goat Cheese Truffle, Olive-Oil-Basil-Alderwood, Sea Salt, Dark Chocolate Covered Berries, Amaretto Liquor, and many more... This is just a sampling of the $20 or so we (hubz & I) spent at Le Chocoholique during a Sunday adventure through Columbus. Only after being open a week, we had to indulge our sweet tooth at the new 'chocolate cafe' in town. With prices right around $1.50 - $2.50 or so for each chocolate, we dined like A/C kings & queens during this heat wave over Central Ohio (no, seriously...we don't have ANY A/C yet this summer season) while listening to jazz tunes offered courtesy of Pandora. With tiers & tiers of chocolate lined display shelves, I was more than indecisive when it came to choosing what chocolates to sink my teeth into. However, I went for my old standby: Dark chocolate only, which proved to be the right choice for me. The service was very personal (although it seems we draw a crowd), the lovely chocolat-iera's made exotic suggestions that made my tastebuds envious of those I would not taste. They even offered free samples of freshly dipped chocolate covered strawberries! Add to that, freshly brewed coffee for my hubz (soon to be iced coffee offerings for my tastes in the near future). Soon to come, there will be wine & chocolate tastings & other chocolate-centered events offered at Le Chocoholique. Can't wait!

The chocolates here remind me of the shops in Belgium. The display case is full of mini works of art and will probably make you "oh" and "ah." It's a bit overwhelming to choose your treat. Some are so gorgeous, like the turtles, I just couldn't imagine eating them. My personal favorites are anything with marzipan. You can also fuel up with coffee while you're here. I haven't tried anything from the bar, but if you're in to sweet drinks, you should check it out. Their tables have wonderful window space so I would take visitors here while strolling through the Short North. Overall, a great place for a special treat.

Amazing one-of-a-kind selection of chocolates. I was overwhelmed at first and the lady offered up a pre-made box of 4 or 6 which she said was cheaper than individually selected pieces (but she was wrong!, weird). Anyways, I selected some weird ones (a blue cheese piece, etc) and so far have enjoyed one everyday since then. It will be fun to return and see what new creations are available. Go and forget that you are dieting, and buy some yummy chocolates for you and your loved ones.

Not my type of chocolatier; terribly dry and poor or old ingredients. If you are used to fresh peruvian, cote-d'ivoirian, Godiva or Lindt, you'll find this amateur although cute and well decorated, hence where it wins its stars.

In a word: wow! So many perfectly crafted chocolates and desserts and so little time! Truly beautiful store with terrific coffee and an inviting sitting area, a little bar and the most helpful staff! Wish they would come to Chicago ( hint, hint!)

Le Chocoholique would scare the pants off of Willy Wonka. I had never been into Chocoholique before a few months ago, I dont spend alot of time in the short north area but its great to go for a night out. I also really do not have a sweet tooth at all. But I had a friend in from out of town visiting me and took her to dinner at Japanese Steakhouse (which is always good, even if the decor blows.) Then we went and walked through the short north people watching and window shopping. We lucked out and it happened to be Gallery Hop night so it was packed down there. We wandered by Chocoholique and stopped in. About thirty seconds inside the door we realized it was a bad idea. I splurged on dinner so she got dessert. I think we walked out with probably thirty dollars in chocolate. This place is amazing, the selection was unparalleled and the service was superb. The lovely lady behind the counter even printed us out a list of all our chocolates so we could figure out what was what once we got back to our hotel to crash. They tasted divine and I was really impressed with the artistic value on some of them, almost to pretty to eat....almost. We got to much to remember or to list but i had something really great with coconut in it, another with pumpkin, and everything i tried with nuts was great. The absinthe one was lovely and we had a few more with liquor in them that were great as well. Oh and the little animal shapes are adorable! I will DEFINITLY go back it was a really fun experience being in there. For tarts, cakes and cookies I go to Pistachia Vera, for bread and pastriest I go to The French Loaf, and for chocolates Chocoholique is the only place to go.

The number of choices here is rather overwhelming: you almost have to bring a notepad and jot down the ones that most pique your interest. I only tried a few chocolates so far on my first visit. Prices range around 50 cents to $5 each and I went with the absinthe truffle, hazelnut filled dark chocolate with crispy rice, and a milk chocolate smores crunch. The absinthe was nice and I wouldn't have minded a little more oomph, the hazelnut truffle was filling and the crunch was a nice touch, and the smores was satisfyingly simple and just a fraction of the price of the others (45 cents vs. $1.75). I'm more of a pastry guy when it comes to desserts, but the fact that I pass by here often means I'll be popping in to try the more adventurous flavors here and there.

They have some great chocolates to try here! They have so many cool looking and delicious sounding things to try, it's hard to decide. Luckily the employee behind the counter was very helpful. Any chocolate lover should give them a try, although they don't make their own chocolate, so you may have seen some of this elsewhere. I sure haven't, so it was a great experience, and it was great to see all of the creations they brought in from all over!

I stopped in for the first time and love it. It's hard to believe chocolate that looks this good also tastes great. This is such a fun place to enjoy a coffee and a sweet treat. They also have a full bar if you want to totally splurge. The candy is locally made and would be a great gift. I can't wait to go back!

When I walked in, it had a very cool feel to the place. The seats and table were dark and I guess it added to the coolness. I like this place, because it was spaced out very well and the desserts were pretty good. Usually, I do not have a sweet tooth, but their creme brulee was pretty good. I highly recommend that dessert! They also had a nice display of their chocolates, and I really enjoyed the cute design. If your friends or girlfriend has a sweet tooth, I would suggest going here to impress them. Very chill place and I would come back here again whenever I get the chance! Also, they open their windows, and their windows are pretty good so you might want to bring a light jacket!

Fun little chocolate/coffee shop that also serves alcohol...awesome! I've been in before and this place is pretty unique. They have rows and rows of gourmet chocolates behind the counter and they serve up some pretty delicious dessert cocktails, as well as wine. My friend and I came in yesterday for a sweet treat. We each had a chocolate (I had the cookie crunch and she had a pistachio verde) and a drink. She got a glass of white wine and I had the bananas foster martini. All was really tasty. The best part was, the drinks were on special for happy hour!

Since the Boy has to work on Valentine's Day, we spent yesterday having a faux Valentine's Day celebration. Naturally, that included chocolate. Lots of chocolate. We spent a good 15 minutes with our faces stuck against the glass case as we tried to figure out what we wanted. We each went for 3 pieces, my favorite was the apple jack. Apple brandy inside a crisp, smooth milk chocolate shell... you have eat it in one bite or else. I really do wish the Easton locale had stayed open so we could enjoy their creative and tasty chocolates more often.

There are these shops that looks like u will be amazed with their dessert!!! This is a bummer!! I mean the location, view and couch is amazing however the creme brûlée with half is still frozen and the other half is heated is disgusting!!! VERY OVERPRICED AND NOT WORTH IT!

The candies here are beautiful enough to be works of art and delicious enough to make your tongue orgasm. They look so beautiful you don't want to eat them and when you do they're like little clouds of decadence and incredibly delicious. It's like the Easter Bunny jizzed in your mouth. The candies are so ornate, they hardly even look like candies. They look like little gemstones or trinkets, little things you could put around your desk or on your mantle to decorate. They don't look edible at all. It's astonishing that these are food items. The taste is also incredible. Of course I only tried a few because they are outrageously expensive ($2 for each little bite of candy). What I did try burst in my mouth like a little puffy cloud of the most unique and indescribable flavors. My head was swimming. This place is also a cafe with a menu of really good coffee drinks and some of the choices were fairly different along with the standard fare you find everywhere. The sitting area is elegant and comfortable with big windows granting a view of the street in a nice upscale neighborhood downtown. This place is very expensive though so it's not a place us working class people can frequent but it is a great escape every once in a while. Parking in this section of town is excruciating but there is a public parking lot with meters across the street.

Their hand-made, unique and complex chocolates are a fun oasis in Short North. Go with friends, try a few each (to keep it reasonably priced), and share! Definitely try the alcohol filled ones. Their Spicy Mexican Hot Chocolate is truly excellent. Creamy, sweet, spicy, and comforting. It's presentation matches its flavor, and although it costs $4.50, it fills you up. Would definitely return for their cafe options.

Desert and coffee after eating at melt with friends!! Literally just said out loud desert would be nice and my husband wanted coffee, crossed the street and chocoholique! The food/ chocolate pieces were beautifully displayed and we had a hard time picking the super expensive pieces of chocolate. My husband and I each got a PB&J bonbon for 2$ a piece and a 4$ turtle truffle shaped like a turtle, so cute!!! The PB&J bonbons were fantastic! My husband got a cappuccino that was so hot he couldn't drink it for a half hour. And I'm a glutton for key lime pie and they had a key lime cheesecake. It was a pretty good lemon cheesecake. It wasn't a key lime cheesecake. That was ok, I ate it anyway! The turtle turtle was ok, I expected amazing for 4$ and I didn't eat my half. It was quaint, but I wouldn't go get desert there again. It was worth trying it and enjoying the presentation of the shop!

Pretty cool spot to go to. Check out some of the cocktails and the chocolates. I ordered a Pink Orchid which had a ball of ice with a fuchsia orchid frozen on it. I thought that was pretty cool. It was pretty good too. The sugar rim sold me on that one. If I were to go back I would try the S'mores martini too. I also ordered the Patron, Brownie and Lavendar Fleur de Sel chocolate which were all amazing and I think I will go back again tomorrow before I leave. Good service too.

Another place I swear I've already reviewed. Sigh. Are the reviews disappearing, or my mind? We stopped in this time on a chilly evening, in search of drinks. (That's the same reason we stopped in before, last summer.) Sweetie had a flavored coffee, and didn't drink much of it. Didn't say it was bad, but it must not have been amazing. I had a Mexican hot chocolate. I asked them to tone down the heat because we were getting a dessert, and it was just right- good, but not overpowering. We shared a creme brulee cheesecake. It was very rich, and it wasn't bad, but... neither of us were particularly into it. Not as good as we expected, I think. Very pretty. We got a couple of pieces of chocolate. They were good, not great. The place itself is nice and relaxing, a good place to hang out for coffee, work, whatever. But each time we've gone there has been a sense of "meh, not as great as it looks, and a little annoying." They do have a large variety of chocolates, a decent hot drink menu, and apparently cocktails too. Nice to have, especially since some nearby places have closed, but nothing really special.

As they say about people: others love those who love themselves; a cliche that could equally go for business. Le Chocoholique takes great care and love for itself, and it makes me love it even more than what its servings do to my tongue--and much more as it overcomes what it does to my wallet. It was still warm enough Saturday evening to leave unglazed their street-view window, but the inside was already decorated for Hallowe'en. Great strands of fake cobwebs swung above their small lounging area, complimenting nicely its already slick wood-black color skeme. The cobweb weren't just thrown up there but rather combed with care, each strain placed in a pre-thought position--artfully. You could just feel that the owner or management just adores their little chocolate boutique, and takes in it the upmost pride. As they do all year, with their cosy, clean shop, with it's shiny marble bar and flashing bottles of spirits on the glass shelves behind, greeting you at the door. Nevermind the dreamy decor, it's the truffles that makes the place. There so many scrumptious tastes to choose from that I am amazed I've only been here a few odd times. In shapes of tear drops, and bonbon kisses, and flat crackers, and gem like Belgian chocolate stones; flavors of strawberry, coconuts, apple pie, blueberries, and peanut butter; are just some of the visual and flavorful fun this place offers--done with even more care. Their coffee isn't bad too. Add it all up and you have the perfect desert, date, or treat place off High Street.

The Dulce De Leche and Heart of Gold chocolates were delicious. I tried the Crown Royal as well but it wasn't a match for my taste buds. I would recommend and try again but the customer service was horrible. The girl behind the counter was rude. She took two orders for customers that came after me and I had to ask if I could be helped. She did not vocally give me the amount of my change received nor politely place it in my hands. She did not say thank you or even offer any generous customer service. Maybe it was a rough day for her but her actions were unacceptable. I will not return to this establishment and will take my business elsewhere.

Sweet tooth satisfaction guaranteed - but make sure you have plenty of change to spend. I love sweets - I love chocolate. Le Chocoholique has more chocolate than you can shake a stick at! There are so many variations of flavors. Some if the candies have extravagant shapes and colors/decoration. On average one piece is $2 - some of the fancier ones are around $5. I like to get a box of ten atleast. It may be good that its a little pricey or else I would be here all the time. I love to bring out of town visitors, my girlfriends or my work team here!

GreAt service. Great wine. Very unique chocolates. The owner, Monica has done a great job growing her business over the last few years. The coffee is good too! The beer selection is great as well. It's always fun to try the new finds that they bring into the store! They carry a bunch of Orin Swifts wines which are delicious as well.

My husband brought me home a box from his trip and they were all delicious! He said the chocolates he had while in town were also amazing. His exact words were "I'd give it 5 stars just based on the bourbon barrel gin." My favorites were the turtles - I tried 3 different ones - and the caramels I would love to get to try this place in person should I ever make it to Columbus.

Fabul-iscious! We each got a few chocolates and a specialty coffee. It was all awesome! The only problem I see with this place is the sheer number of different chocolates to choose from! How??? Give it a try. You won't be disapointed. Yum!

My mother, sister and I were in Columbus for the weekend and happened by this place a couple of blocks from out hotel. It's a very posh shop with beautiful displays and delicious chocolate. We each treated ourselves to something and sat by a window to take a break. The chocolate while beautiful was sub par in taste and the prices a bit high.

The very first time, I tried their chocolates and thought they were pretty good. The one kind I remember had Wasabi peas in a white chocolate bar. I hesitated and thought to myself, "Who would even dare to try this one?" I didn't think wasabis and chocolates would blend well. But I was curious and thought I'd regret it if I didn't try. Wow! I'm so glad I did because the spicy wasabi balanced out the sweet and rich flavored white chocolate and had a unique taste! (Unfortunately, they didn't have it when I went back the second time.) Okay, the second time, I tried their chai latte because I am obsessed with Chai tea latte. And of course I asked to be modified with soy milk since I'm lactose intolerant; Plus, it makes the drink richer in flavor. (I think) Oh my. I was very, VERY disappointed and will NEVER get it again! I expected something more; stronger and more exotic chai flavor. But instead it was very sweet and it seemed like it had sugar-free sweetener. Personally, I hate and cannot drink sugar-free products like diet drinks and splenda sweeteners. Maybe it's just me, but it was too watery and too sweet but not enough chai flavor. I drank it all just because I don't like wasting money, but next time? There will be no next time! I know I'll never get their Chai latte ever again! Other than that, the delicate chocolates are great!

Sat 10 minutes at the bar before anyone acknowledged me, only to enjoy my beer with the fire alarm screeching and no one doing anything about it. Beautiful chocolates, nevertheless... However, I hear they're imported and in the store they claim to be "house-made" ...yikes.

I really enjoyed Le Chocoholique during our visit a few months ago. There are cases full of delicious (and expensive) chocolate. Additionally, there are tons of other types of dessert like cheesecake and cookies. We ended up purchasing the graham cracker "sandwich" (graham crackers with peanut butter smooshed in between and then completely covered with chocolate...goodness), the buckeye cheesecake, two types of chocolate covered shortbread (dark & milk), an oatmeal cookie pie and a chocolate chip cookies. The oatmeal pie was the only item I didn't enjoy all the much (probably because I am a former addict of Little Debbie's version so that's the "standard" I compare all oatmeal pies to--i know, it's sad). Good music plays in the background and the young men working there were fun to chat with. Now that I try to stay away from dairy & egg products, I probably will not be back :( but I highly recommend this place if you're not opposed to those items.

This place is so chic and great if you want something small to indulge your sweet tooth! The small chocolates run $3-7 and are really small but are made in house and have so much flavor. If you are looking for something larger- go with their desserts to choose from, you will not be disappointed. The martinis and specialty drinks run from $10-15 but are worth it! Especially the smores martini with toasted marshmallow on top!

Stopped by Le Chocoholique for a dessert to take home after dinner out. The space and the desserts are so pretty. Our peanut butter chocolate cheesecake didn't taste as good as it looked but I guess that's to be expected. The lego shaped white chocolate was a big hit with the kids when we got home, too.

They have a handful of vegan chocolate options. It's nice that they have them clearly marked. I think I only liked one of the round shaped chocolates in the glass cases. They also have a few wrapped chocolate bars. The bars are way too expensive, almost $7.00?! Are they serious? You can get them for probably half price or less at a grocery store. The decor was nice, with nice seating. The staff were okay, not very knowledgable though. I would not come back here. They don't have enough good vegan chocolates and they are too expensive!
