So I work with four very picky men that are difficult to get out of their culinary rut. There are very few places they can all agree on eating... we had the Big Fat Greek on Riverside and Fishinger, but it closed. So, I coaxed everyone to Lashish and man, did we trade up. This place is small, but exceeding clean and bright inside. The menu is relatively small, which IMHO is a good thing. The salads are ridiculous. The grouper salad boasts at least 8 ounces of grilled fish. Everything I have had so far has been fantastically prepared. And the host during lunch is ridiculously attentive and regularly gives a free dessert. Give them a try... I know we will be going once a week for the foreseeable future.

I came here a few weeks ago in the early afternoon and had a nice, little meal. It was only me and one other person here on a weekday, so the service was prompt and very friendly. The place is pretty small, and the menu seemed pretty standard for a good Greek restaurant. They have a few specials on the board as you walk in, but I ended up going with the Shawarma pita and the Cajun fries. The sauce (and I believe hummus) on the pita were really good. Rather than a pita pocket like a lot of the shawarma I've had in Columbus, this one was wrapped in a long thin pita similar to Lavash. I'm not sure if I like it as much as Pita House or Pita Hut-n-Grill, but it was still very tasty. The highlight for me here were the Cajun fries. I was expecting just regular fries with a dusting of Cajun seasoning, but these came with a hot Cajun sauce and feta all over them. So freakin' good! Honestly, I just wanted to stop in for a quick lunch to get a feel of the place, since I'd never tried it before but had seen so many good things. Had I known it was right there a few years ago when my buddy lived up the street, I'd have been one of the number one customers. As it is, I get up to Bethel somewhat often, so I'm sure I'll be back if not just to take the girlfriend. The desserts looked very tasty as well, but the fries really filled me up so that'll have to wait until next time.

Small place, clean, friendly service good food, and large portions, why not a 5 star. By the way, the lamb chops were very good, recommended.

Lashish is a lovely standout among the strip-malls lining Bethel Road. It is by no means large, but there is a nice energy that is less "strip-mall" and more "tucked away." Large and partially-frosted windows mean lots of light and the kitchen is partially open, expanding the space. We have always had great service and the owner is warm and loves to chat. Oh, you wanted to know about the food. It's good. Really good. From all the different kinds of sandwiches (highly recommend the veggie, which has fried cauliflower) to the dinner entrees, you can find something that fits what you're looking for. Their falafel is excellent, as is their hummus and their seasoned fries. What is it with Mediterranean/Middle Eastern fries? Almost always, they're dangerously tasty. Also tasty - their desserts. If we're along Bethel Road, and we choose a non-Asian place, it has to be pretty darn snappy, and Lashish fits that description.

OH MY GOSH! I don't even know where to start with this review. It hasn't even been 24 hours and I'm writing this review, it was that good! I've driven by this strip mall hundreds of times, but never noticed this place. My boyfriend and I were craving Greek food and this place was close to my house! The place was almost filled on a Sunday at 7:30, which is usually a good sign. I'll keep this short and just say I got the blackened grouper Greek salad and it knocked my socks off. I could seriously eat that salad every night for dinner! The grouper serving is massive and the dressing that comes with it is so delicious. To top off my meal I also got a piece of chocolate baklava because, why not?? Give this place a chance, you will not be disappointed!!! YUM

Ok, so I'll admit that I had my reservations about this place before I visited despite the very high ratings. I love hole in the wall restaurants but my experience with hole in the wall strip mall restaurants hasn't always been the best (there are certainly exceptions, however!). In any case, we were in the area running errands, famished, and it was Father's Day so most of our go-to's were pretty busy. We decided to bite the bullet and check this place out. First impression: it's a small, (absolutely) no-frills sit-down full service restaurant. We decided to share a couple of dishes so that we could try out more than one thing. Based on Yelp reviews and tips, we ordered the spanakopita, the red snapper, and the tiramisu. The spanakopita was......not good. All spinach, no feta. And not my favorite kind of spinach - it was the soggy, tasted-like-it-came-from-a-frozen-package type of spinach. The red snapper, however, was awesome!! Well cooked, good flavor, and the rice/boiled veggies were perfect complements to the sweetness of the key lime sauce. The tiramisu was also very good. Had we not ordered the spanakopita, I probably would have given this restaurant a solid 4/5. But we did. And with that, it's a 3.

Stopped in here for dinner before a meet up with friends. Atmosphere: it is located in a strip mall with ample parking. The restaurant is pretty small with enough seating for a variety of different sized parties, though larger than 6 would probably be impossible. It is comfortable and not excessively decorated or under decorated. Staff: the staff is always friendly and helpful. This time we had a new server which was very inexperienced. He seemed a little confused as to what we were saying and didn't do a real good job of checking up on us. All the other times we've been here have been flawless service, so I am not going to dock the restaurant for a new server. He was personable and definitely tried! The owner came out to check on us and engaged us in polite conversation. I really appreciate that! Food: I had the gyro plate and my girlfriend had the Greek salad. Both of them were superb! Everything was cooked to perfection (or prepared to perfection) and had large portions. We left there feeling comfortable after finishing off our plates. Overall, this is a great place to go and we enjoy stopping in here when we have time prior to our meet ups!

Lashish is a simple and humble-sized restaurant. It definitely has a homey feel to it. The menu isn't extensive, but it has enough to give you a hard time deciding between this, this or that?! Shish Kabob: AMAZING. Unfortunately you only get one skewer with this combo plate- but it's quite filling since it comes with a plate FULL of rice (seasoned well & perfect texture) and veggies (typical steamed veggies: carrot, cauliflower, brocolli). The beef is incredibly tender. It melts in your mouth! It has a nice subtle flavor without it tasting bland. Gyro Combo Dish: You have a choice of Gyro meat or Chicken. The gyro meat was recommended so I got it as that and I was absolutely in love. The gyro meat was also very tender. You can upgrade your regular fries to greek fries for $1.50. Their greek fries are like crack! The gravy has a nice tangy kick to it. Lamb Chops: Similar seasoning as the shish kabob. I'm usually not a fan of Lamb, but their lamb chops was very delicious. Very well prepared since there was no funky smell that I usually come across in lamb dishes. Best of all, we got lentil soup on the house. Awesome!

Marvelous casual Greek restaurant. Very authentic. Owner has worked in numerous well know, excellent Greek and Mediterranean restaurants in the city. Gracious, welcoming hospitality.

Their chicken lemon soup is a staple in our house when someone is sick. It is the perfect feel good comfort food! Well made and perfect...yummm! Other tummies include their pastisso, falafel, hummus and tzaziki!

My friends and I came here after a long day of Christmas shopping. We were famished! The owner was super friendly and greeted us right away! Quick wait for food! The fries are a must! I was drooling when I first laid my eyes on them as the server slowly paced them in front of me! I will definitely come back for a quick fix of great Greek food!

My husband and I were in Columbus for the day and I really wanted some authentic food. I was not disappointed! The food was awesome. The best food I've had in along time. The prices were reasonable and the portions were big. To top it off Mo and the other gentleman were fantastic. I can't wait to visit again.

I've had better Greek food in Cbus for a third of Lashish's prices. Our apps trickled out one at a time and then the entrée trickle began. Our lil kids received their food very last. Weird. The food wasn't good, but the total bill was the most off putting aspect of our experience. We will NOT be revisiting Lashish the Greek. And I'm beginning to doubt Yelp's credibility after this experience.

Saw this place on Yelp was highly reviewed and the missus wanted some Greek food, our go to place is Yanni's but this place was right by her work so we decided to come here and give it a try. Yanni's sets a very high bar for Greek food but we came in with an open mind. Upon arriving we were warmly greeted by the owner that so many folks here speak of. He was very friendly and you could, as everyone says, tell he really loves his restaurant and loves his food and isn't afraid to show some good ol' fashioned customer service. This alone is a rarity in the restaurant business and something I wish I could see more of. We started off with the hummus appetizer. The hummus was quite good but not quite as good as Yanni's. This is subjective of course. Yanni's loads his hummus with a ton of garlic, which Stefanie and I both love and others may not so much. Lashish the Greek's hummus isn't as garlicky, which may actually be more appealing for some folks. Next up for me was the Chicken Lemon soup. This was very, very good and on par with Yanni's. It had more meat in it that Yanni's did but that positive was offset by the fact that Yanni's is a bit more sour tasting (again something some folks may be put off by). Thumbs up big time on the soup from me! For our main entree we got the Gyro that comes with fries. I had chosen to get soup with mine instead of fries though but I did manage to sample some of Stefanies and they were quite good. The gyro was fantastic, filled with meat. It also had banana peppers which I think made it superior to Yanni's, although Stef disagreed as she doesn't like banana peppers. I told Mo the owner that it was a brilliant idea to add them to spice it up a little and he said that was the intent. The only issue I have with the gyro here versus Yanni's is that it only comes in one size whereas Yanni gives you small, medium and large. The gyro I got for dinner was plenty filling, it was quite big in fact, so that's not the issue, it's just nice to have choices in size. So in summary it seems as if we prefer Yanni's hummus but I prefer Lashish's gyro and the soup and fries are pretty much a tie. This place is a bit more expensive than Yanni's but to offset that it's got a nicer dinning experience inside, much better looking dining room and the seating is more spaced out so I think price wise that it's a wash for what you get. Also, speaking of price, Mo did bring us out some samples and some tea, of which were delicious and I thought it was a nice touch. Mo himself seems like a very nice man and I did bring up Yanni's and as it turns out he had worked with Yanni's father! So no wonder these are the two best places to find Greek food in Columbus. There's a connection there. Whatever he's doing I told him to keep up the great work as this place is a gem and a real winner. If you're looking for some great Greek food you can't go wrong with either place!

good medi food right across the street...YES!!! i had the gyro plate with fries and the meat was so well seasoned and flavored and fresh, the fries were piping hot and the price was even better, such a good deal and hidden away in the shopping strip, i live right across the street and can easily get to this place which could be a problem for my waist size.

Recommended to us by a local foodie. Really big portions. My key lime snapper was delicious. And the creme filled pastry with 20+ letters in the name was tasty also.

I ordered takeout & I really enjoyed the LaShish Gyro Platter, it was absolutely delicious. The Greek salad was rather bland. The Dolmakia, for the lack of a better work was mushy and gross... I love Dolmakia, but I did not like theirs. The baklava was off; it had all of the ingredients but it just didn't taste good. I also orders the chicken lemon soup and combo appetizer plater but put them away due to being full... I'm hesitant about trying them. I love Greek & Mediterranean food, but that wasn't either.... It was an "-ish" food, had the ingredients but not the heart or flavor of the cultural food in it. If you ever go to Morgantown, WV you should try the Lebanese bistro and Ali Baba's both are better than this place.

I was in the area doing some shopping and decided to stop by for a quick lunch. It's a small/comfy, family owned restaurant, with about 15-20 tables. I ordered a regular beef/lamb Gyro with everything on it and a cup of lentil soup. The soup was good but lacked enough salt and pepper. After adding some salt and pepper, the soup was much better. The gyro was absolutely delicious and flavorful! The meat was soft, tender, juicy and the temperature was just right! Hands down one of the best gyros, I've had in a long time. The owner also added to the positive experience. He greeted every customer that came in, checked to see if we enjoyed our meals and started conversations; "with every customer". You could tell that he genuinely wanted to make sure, that every customer left happy. I will definitely be back! :)

Add Lashish to the list of places most people like that I do not/have been ruined by one bad experience. Again, it just comes down to hospitality. The food was pretty good, I got an assortment of Kabobs over rice but the vibe I got just wasn't worth the reasonably well done authentic cooking. If the owner/manager/host whomever doesn't want me there, well then I certainly don't want to be there. Maybe I have some sort of persecution complex, but the host/owner (I'm not sure he never introduced himself) seemed like he couldn't be bothered to take care of us and just seemed a lot more invested in the other patrons, even running outside to stop some people from forgetting their leftovers. Make what you want of that, if you're the people who are getting the leftovers brought out to them, then this review has an entirely different character. I guess it comes down to this, it's not that he didn't care (the restaurant was pretty clean and well maintained), he just didn't care about us. Honestly, I don't want to discourage anyone from going here, I don't think that others will be doomed to the same experience we had, but I know this is not the place for me.

This is a constant stop for me. As I usual do quite a bit of Chinese grocery shopping nearby. I usually get any one of the plates or their gyros. They all taste amazing. The chicken is soft and tender and tastes really amazing. The owners and servers are also very nice and they also give you free things. I have gotten free soup/tea before. Definitely would suggest this place and I will keep going back. It is the best greek you can get in Columbus

Upon looking at reviews for new places to try in Columbus, we saw that Lashish the Greek was highly rated and decided to give it a shot. We walked into the restaurant. Immediately, we noticed the restaurant was really small. We took a seat and, soon after, were greeted by an individual who appeared to be the owner. He didn't seem particularly excited to see us; he wasn't unfriendly, but it seemed like we were putting him out. He was a lot more courteous to everyone else in the restaurant. Before we ordered, we received a lemony chicken noodle soup. It was good, and a pleasant surprise. We ordered the deluxe shish kabob combo and a shepherd salad. Mine came out after about 10 minutes, and my boyfriend's took about 10 minutes after that. We waited way too long for being 1 of 3 tables in the restaurant. Everyone else had already been served, so there was really no reason for ours to take so long. My salad tasted more like the individual parts than a combined salad; I tasted tomato, cucumber, banana peppers, and 4 olives. The dressing and feta cheese were fairly tasteless. My boyfriend's shish kabob was pretty good, but again, took forever to come out. Someone else came in after us, ordered the shish kabob, and got take out fairly quickly; not sure why that took so much longer than ours. Every other table got special treatment; the owner personally brought both other tables something in a take-out box; bread maybe? He even walked one all the way out to a patron's car. We received nothing of the sort. Because the restaurant is so small, you feel like you're right on top of the people next to you. We were unfortunate enough to hear every single tidbit of a rather obnoxious conversation happening at the table immediately next to us. We were unable to have any conversation over their loud banter. We were pretty disappointed. If we were enamored with the food, we might consider take out. However, the food was good, but not worth the experience. The prices also weren't great for what we got. We will not be back.

Coworker is 100% Greek and very picky. We have been here multiple times for lunch. Service and food are always good. Today I had blackened grouper on salad. I don't normally order anything blackened because it overpowers, but this was amazing. And had enough for lunch tomorrow!

So I tried out Lashish tonight for dinner, and I was pretty pleased with the results. My husband and I didn't get anything particularly out of the ordinary. We both opted for the gyros combo w/ fries. The gyro meat was cooked well, and the tzatziki had a great flavor. I could've done without the overabundance of shredded lettuce though. The fries were pretty good as well. They weren't too crunchy, and they were seasoned pretty well. Plus, the food was super affordable.

It's Friday after 2 and this restaurant has all its tables filled. It's not noisy and crowded. It's just comfortable and relaxing. My husband and I a nice early dinner. My lamb chops were delicious. My husband really enjoyed the Grecian chicken. I highly recommend. Great prices. A nice find!

Strip mall restaurants make me nervous. You never quite know what you're going to get. Sometimes it's a total win & other times... not so much. Lashish the Greek was a win for me! After seeking the help of local Yelpers, I knew ya'll wouldn't steer this visitor wrong. Small, local place with what seemed like authentic Greek food & workers. I'm pretty sure it was the owner making the rounds that night, saying hello & asking how everyone was doing. While I waited for my take-out order, another worker treated me to some delicious hot tea. For the price you pay, the ambiance isn't much if you're dining-in, but since I was getting my food to go, it didn't bother me. The highlights for me were the hummus, baba ghanoush & fattoush salad. I really enjoyed my Grecian Chicken meal & my husband liked his salmon. Veggies were steamed & not drowning in butter or oil. We shared the appetizers with others but it still turned out to be too much food for us, which meant leftovers the next night - hooray! Lashish is definitely on our list of places we'd stop at again when we return to Columbus.

My new favorite Greek place in Columbus. Also, Bethel Road in general is the cultural melting pot of Columbus when it comes to authentic world cuisine. How is it that the best Korean BBQ, Mexican tacos, vegan Indian food, Vietnamese, fine French dining, and now Greek food are all within a mile from each other?! Very awesome. Anyway, my boyfriend and I came here after a failed attempt at going to the Greek Festival (no parking). We had wanted to try this for awhile, so it worked out perfectly. We started with the smelts appetizer and they were amazing. Huge portion of smelts with a creamy dipping sauce. Then for dinner, I had the moussaka, which was the biggest piece of moussaka I think I have ever had. It was delicious. My boyfriend had the shawarma platter, which was also huge and delicious. We took home 2 pieces of Greek baklava for dessert. I pretty much want to go back here ASAP. Also, the owner was so nice. He visited every table and even gave us some tea as we were finishing up our meal to enjoy.

Amazing Gyro. When you walk in, you feel like it's family owned and I like that about this place. To the poster who gave it 2 stars named "Shea", The reason your veggie Gryo was "tasteless" was because you got a veggie gyro bro. Get some meat on it next time.

Wonderful little place, and what a hospitable man the owner was! A personable, hearty man. Disclaimer: I do not boast a Mediterranean dish expert, but I feel comfortable to say I know quality food. Now to proceed with my dinner: I hate lamb. My mom tried various ways to convince me otherwise. Wine, spice, sauce, somehow nothing cut it; nothing compliments. Well, I shared both a beef gyro and shawarma with my foodie buddy. I loved it. Generous portions of meat, and the chef did an excellent job adding spices and cooking it, tender and juicy. Very impressed with my dinner as well as the hospitality. I will visit soon again with friends!

I was really looking forward to eating here after a 14 day gyro/tabbouleh craving and seeing the reviews on Yelp. I was disappointed. The chicken was good but everything about the gyro was bland. The tabbouleh was extremely oily and had none of the zest it should have had. I doubt I'll choose this place again. There are much better options around the area.

I'm a regular here. I live in Brooklyn, NY. That should say everything. It's about time I wrote a review. My friends from Columbus showed me this place and this is pretty much the first place I ask to go to for food when I visit time and time again. The food here is amazing. Everything I've had has been really good. I love the gyros and the humus and usually get the Greek fries as well but their fish is also delicious and I usually steal some from my friend's plate. The owner and the staff here are very nice and friendly. They always make suggestions and when I came here the first time let me try some of the things that I never had before. Seriously the best service I've had. So support this local place and have some great Greek food.

High-end of the 4-star ranking from one Catherine J. Lashish the Greek has a lot of heart. The servers care and the chef/owner (Mr. Lashish, I presume?) takes time to come to the front of the house to make sure everyone is enjoying the food. And he'll gaze around enjoying other people enjoying his food. Adorbs. Plus, I've never been here and not been offered something extra: a small glass of hot tea, small slices of honey cake, or both. The ingredients are very fresh. This isn't fast food disguised as Greek, though you won't be waiting forever or break the bank, either. AND, there's a rotating list of specials. I really wanted to try the blackened grouper from the specials list last time, but went with a more traditional schwarma plate instead. Either would have been excellent, I'm sure. I overheard one of the waiters talking to another patron about their seafood supplier, so I know freshness and quality are high priorities for them. My only gripe-- and it's a small one-- is that the dining room could be a little more comfortable. There aren't many seats, which is fine (I've never not been able to get a seat here), but the tables are a tad wobbly and the chairs are a bit stiff. It's probably too small for a few booths, honestly. But, an upgrade in the furniture, and maybe some festive table cloths, might make the interior match the quality of the food a little more closely.

It sucks you cannot give more than 5 stars. This place is amazing and the owner and staff are the nicest people in the world. The Greek fries are to die for that I have sampled everything else on the menu and have had no complaints. This is one of my favorite places to eat when I'm north of the city. Usually eat here a couple times a month and am never disappointed. Keep up the amazing job guys!

I came here last night for dinner after seeing all the yelling and shouting on Yelp. It is indeed a small space with about twenty tables. And I was surprised I didn't have to wait for one after seeing twenty-three reviews. I was seated by the waiter and the owner was bustling around all evening. You can tell he really enjoys the customer contact. I started off with a small order of hummus. The hummus was delicious but the pita bread was just so-so or maybe even a little less. I then ordered dolmakia and a spanakpita (grape leaves and a puff pastry filled with spinach). Both of those were just great! I was really a little full for dessert but the owner brought me a little square of cake and a glass of tea. That was a very nice gesture on his part. Anyway, a very good meal and I'm sure I'll be back.

Everyone before me was really on point. It's a small joint in a strip mall, kinda unassuming. Going in, the Chef (I think his name is Mo from his uniform) is up and about, very charismatic. My wife and I had the bab ganoush to start. It tasted smoked/smokey and definitely had more eggplant taste than most places, so I was pleased. My wife had the Gyro Dinner and that came with a great greek salad, long grain rice, pita and a very interesting tzatziki sauce. Everything on her plate was on point, but the tzatziki sauce tasted a bit off, reminded me of thousand island dressing maybe (kinda a tart taste)? It didn't taste like yogurt and cucumbers like most but was still very good. I had the shwarma dinner and that came with hummus, tossed salad and pita bread. It was very good as well. The hummus also had a slight grainy teture, which led me to believe it was home made, so A+ in my book. As we were leaving, we wanted to try a baklava. The Chef explained the difference between traditional greek and lebanese baklava (lebanese is more french inspired). We went with traditional, but then he gave us the lebanese one for free because he wanted us to try them both! The owner/chef is really proud of his pasteries (he was picking and choosing which one to give us, not just the closest ones) and definitely deserves 5 stars for his charisma, passion, and most notably, his food.

The cheesecake. You must try it! So very creamy, yet crumbly and just delicious. Mo, the owner is very, very nice. He came out and spoke with us, gave us tea and cookies to try, explained the different desserts, he is a treasure, for sure. I've been here twice now, and I can't say enough good things about it! My father had the Angus burger (I know, I know!) and said it was delicious. It was on a Kaiser roll, and was HUGE! I had the Gyro and it was fabulous. The meat has a great flavor and the sauce...mmmm. I wasn't a huge fan of the Falafel, but I'm a "heat" wimp when it comes to spice, these were a little too much for me. I liked the Kibbeh, very flavorful. The three stars of the show are the hummus, the cheesecake, and the little glasses of tea at the end of the meal. I love that tea. Everything amazing has already been said in other reviews, so I don't want to gush or repeat, but this place is amazing. Perhaps a little utilitarian in appearance, but you won't be disappointed. The food and staff are amazing. Thank you Mo for several delicious meals! I would drive across town to get that cheesecake. AMAZING.

I don't normally give out 5 stars for restaurants, but Lashish truly deserves this rating. From top to bottom, every single menu item I have tried has been excellent, in fact the best Greek food in columbus imo.. The gyros, Grecian chicken, Grecian fish, mousaka are all my favorites. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. The tiramisu is the best in columbus, hands down. The real clincher is just how friendly the owner Mo is. He remembers his customers and stops by your table during the meal to make sure that everything tastes good. I'd you haven't been to lashish, you are missing out!

Amazing Greek food! My personal favorites are the hummus, fattoush salad and kibbeh. Their cheesecake is also amazing, made in the New York style. One piece of this is more than enough to share and towers at about 5" high. The people working there are always friendly and the prices are fair. This place is great if you want something healthy to go.

Friendly owner, attentive staff, delicious food. I ordered the Mousaka and can tell you it was delicious! I will be going back to try other things on the menu. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised when the owner bought out soup for us to try. The lentil vegetable soup tasted like something my Grandma would make...it was lovely.

The service here is outstanding and while the meal was a mix of great and meh, I'll go back. The gyros and chicken kebob with veg were great. Unfortunately the fries were old and over salted and the lemon chicken soup was lacking lemon. The cheesecake, tiramisu, cookies and baklava are all homemade and were AWESOME.

The best Greek food I've ever had! I had the Lemon Sole, and even my husband (who HATES fish) kept trying to steal bites. The Gyros are fantastic! And the hummus is just... YUM! If you haven't tried Lashish yet get over there now! They have great cheap lunch deals to go, but if you have the time, sit down and eat- the owner is super nice. He loves to talk about the food, and will even give you free samples from time to time. This is truly a GEM! We've become pretty dedicated regulars since we stumbled across it- no other Greek food is good enough anymore!

If you are a fan of the gyros at the Gyro Shoppe on Henderson, then you will love this place. They taste quite similar. They both feature the soft chewy pita bread that I love vs that dry thin stuff they usually serve elsewhere. I got a lunch special that included a gyro, fries, and a drink for $5 something (sorry i can't remember the exact price anymore!) The fries were raw cut and had the skins still on like the Gyro Shoppe also does. I've also had their chicken lemon soup and it was great. It was more substantial than The Gyro Shoppe's. Larger chunks of chicken, carrots, celery, and more herbs. This stuff is perfect for colds and hangovers.

Just finished an incredible burger with greek fries (ask for a side of tdziki). Going to finish with a Greek coffee before my ride home. I wish there was a 6th star!!!

This was recommended as a great restaurant, so we tried it. It was fantastic! We shared the calamari appetizer and it was very good! I had the pasticio and wow, it was delish! My husband had the chicken piccata and he said it was moist, tender and flavorful! We ended up with sharing a custard filled pastry which was yummy! We highly recommend this small but mighty restaurant!

It's sad to watch crowds of people line up at the McDonalds near this place, when for about the same price they can have a spectacular and authentic Greek meal. The décor is just functional, however the food speaks for itself. This place uses angus beef and the finest quality ingredients in everything they make. The owner really cares about your satisfaction and I have never been disappointed the four times I've been there. I usually get lamb chops, which are a little pricier, but always worth every penny and then some. Their Turkish coffee is also a great addition if you like the heavy duty stuff like I do :)

great service and delicious food! the owner (who is so kind and totally adorbs) brought vegetarian lentil soup, which i would never order on my own, but would now...it was amazing! no meat products or beef broth in it. also got an order of baba...so tasty and creamy. for our main course we ordered key lime snapper and their pasticio. the snapper had a light crisp (seemed to be pan seared) and was very fresh. this came with veggies and rice with vermicelli and was not on the menu (listed as a special on the chalkboard). pasticio was so carefully made with love and the portion size could feed two people. our meal was finished with two cups of hot black tea and couldn't have been more perfect! would recommend to anyone...dine in for the full experience!

Being spoiled living in the short north, I expected the Five star rated Lashish on yelp to be an exaggeration. Wow, was I wrong! My brother and I stopped in at closing time on Sunday and were Treated Like Kings by the owner, who made us feel like family while we waited for our carry-out order. He brought us delicious bowls of Lemon Chicken Soup (a must try) and a desert made with yogurt, lemon, and semolina flour (wow!) on the house while he chatted with other customers and delightfully asked us all to return. I certainly will and I will be bringing friends with me. Yanni's has a run for his money in Columbus!

The service is absolutely amazing but I was a little disappointed with the food. I actually feel a little guilty posting this because the owner and server were both so nice, but everything was a little dry. It wouldn't be a big deal if you were eating there, since you could just ask for extra sauce, but I placed a to-go order so I was outta luck. I would still highly recommend this place for the hospitality though, especially for a first date.

I will first start off by saying that Mo, the chef and owner of Lashish, is the friendliest, most visible, and most accommodating chef that I have ever had the pleasure to dine under. I came there on a Saturday evening with 2 other friends and he personally welcomed us once we were seated. We ordered appetizers to start: spanikopita (spinach cheese pastry), baba ghanoush (eggplant dip), and dolmakia (stuffed grape leaves), and I had the Kibbeh dinner for my entree, finishing with the galaktoboureko (custard phyllo dough dessert). Knowing this was our first visit, Mo brought out complementary dishes for us throughout our entire meal, including samples of falafel, spoons of his in-house yogurt, a bowl of lentil soup, a plate of fries, cups of lebanese tea, and bites of almond cookies. He was eager to explain to us the methods and ingredients he used to create his dishes whenever we asked, and I got a real sense of the passion that he puts in to making his food. Everything I had was delicious, with wide varieties of spices and seasoning used in every dish with no one flavor ever overpowering another. As an example, there are apparently 14 different spices used in the seasoning for his french fries (I was able to name 5: paprika, cumin, salt, pepper, oregano...), and the way he prepares the potatoes minimizes the grease and maximizes the fluffiness on the inside and crunch on the outside. If I had to pick a dish I was not a big fan of, it would be the stuffed grape leaves but that is because I am not a fan of the dish in general, no matter which greek restaurant I get it from. As for my favorites: the falafel, the french fries, the Kibbeh (fried cracked-burghul-wheat shell filled with ground beef, lamb, pine nuts) and the HUMMUS. Probably the best hummus I have ever had: perfect balance of salt, lemon, tahini, garlic, along with the silky smooth texture with no liquid film/residue that you typically see in canned/store bought hummus. The price for the quality of food and service is outstanding as well. Will definitely be coming back for seconds!

The owner really makes you feel like you're in his home. He wants the best for you and isn't afraid to give you more than you asked (and paid) for. I love coming here because I know that I'll get great, fresh food and I like knowing my money is going to a good person. I try to support local family owned businesses and it's a lot easier when you actually like the people. Try the falafel and fries, sounds plain but the fries are out of this world. I'm a french fry connoisseur and take it from me, you won't wanna miss these babies.

  • Jeff P.

Wow! Excellent, tasty, fresh, Greek food. The service is very friendly. The hummus was awesome. The kefta kabob was out of this world. The shawarma was awesome. Even the salad dressing is making my mouth water still.

  • Seth D.

This was...different. The owners are very hospitable and excited to share their food with you, and it's all fresh, but the flavor combinations and spices are different from any Greek, Lebanese or Turkish food I've ever had. I can't say that it's necessarily a bad thing, just not what I expected and not what my palate found to be enticing. I would say that if you're a huge fan of Greek food and have a craving, you might be better served somewhere else, but if you're a little more adventurous and want to try a different take on Greek, then this is your place!

Just imagine that the nicest guy in the world opened a Greek restaurant. And the food was great. That's what you get at Lashish The Greek. This place opened recently in the little strip mall across Bethel Road from Kmart, near Olentangy River Road. It isn't very big, maybe a dozen or so small tables. Very bright, clean space. Nice inside. I had a gyro, fries, drink and chicken lemon soup to go. Everything was very good. The gyro meat was good and the tzaziki sauce was tasty. The fries were fresh-cut style, and terrific. Good sized portions too. And it was prepared in short order. If the owner hadn't been so welcoming, I would still say the food was great. As nice as he was (he even gave me free soup), I can't help but return soon.

  • Julie P.

Wow - not at all what I was expecting. I have passed by dozens of times to eat at Banana Leaf or Bamboo Cafe, and I've never given Lashish a second thought. This place has yummy food and incredible service. Most of the food was delicious - we had good felafel and nice salads, although the hummus was not the best I've ever had. The daily specials seemed to be the standout items - too bad I didn't notice the board until after I had ordered! Seriously, there was this incredible cacophony of adamant oohs and aahs from everyone who had the specials that night (chicken pot pie and orzo soup, btw), and all the while, I'm like "Why the fuck did I order felafel?! Dammit!!" Anyway, this gives me a reason to go back. Of course, I have to mention the best thing about Lashish, which was that they kept showering us with food we didn't order. The owner was running from table to table saying "Do you like that? I'll bring you more!" It was insane and wonderful. They even brought us almond cookies when we ordered Turkish coffee because, "They go very well with the coffee." Amazing. Seriously, check this place and give them some love.

Go here! This amazing Greek place is across the street from the Microcenter/Kmart area in the center of an inauspicious strip mall. I must have driven by dozens of times before Yelp reviews led me here. The owner is the sweetest guy ever, and seems to love talking about his ingredients and where they come from - this is a guy who's really passionate about food. We had calamari to start with, and it was fantastic - not rubbery like one often gets around here. Gyros and fries were delicious, with the gyro meat cooked just right. Prices were reasonable, and the food came out extremely quickly. We left smiling. Basically the experience was so great I had to write my first review about it, and it takes a lot to shock me out of laziness.

  • Andrew G.

I waited to write this review until I went to Lashish a second time as it was so good that we thought it had to be a fluke. This place is amazing. Having traveled in the Mediterranean, sampling some of the best food in the world, we were surprised tofind. an even better version right here in Columbus. Every single dish we tried was a treat, even the salads. The desserts are all homemade and absolutely phenomenal. The staff is attentive and helpful, and the owner is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. He was the one that prepared our meal tonight, and takes great pride in everything he makes. The previous reviewer is not exaggerating: we were treated like kings by the owner and staff. If this restaurant were in the Short North, there would be a line around the block every night. Lashish the Greek is a treasure, and we thank those before us on Yelp that wrote the earlier glowing reviews and enticed us to try this great restaurant. They were not exaggerating in their praises.

Went here for lunch the other day and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the shwarma sandwich, which was fantastic. The meat was well cooked and really well seasoned. It was a little different with pickles in the sandwich but I loved the addition. I definitely will come back and probably try the gyro.

  • Michael U.

It was very slow but the service was good and the food fresh. The hummos could have had more flavor.

Fresh cut fries with lemon feta and olives? Yum! Excellent gyros and the owner is fabulous. Both times I've been to the restaurant he goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome.

    (5)
  • Emily P.

Am I missing something? Perhaps it is because I did not personally go inside and enjoy the hospitality that so many have raved about in reviews. Instead we ordered take-out. The Greek salad lacked toppings and was mostly an expensive bowl of iceberg lettuce with decent dressing. The lettuce was fresh and crisp so I will give them that. The chicken gyro was a major disappointment. The pita was soft and warm and fresh. But the chicken was a horrible consistency and although it was moist the flavor was unimpressive. Did it come from a can? I gave up after about 3 bites, removed the topings and ate the pita with my salad. The other reviews may eventually convince me to try again and if my experience is different I will revise my review. But for now I am in no hurry to return.

Their schwarma (sp) is wayyyyyyyyy better than Aladdin's. It doesn't include a side, though. Their food is very fresh and flavorful.

  • Big Baby Jesus C.

One of the better gyros I have had up here, despite having the funky herbed tzatziki sauce. I like a nice simple (garlic, cucumber, yogurt) tzatziki sauce. The also put banana peppers on the gyro along with the standard onions, shredded lettuce, and tomatoes, and that's a plus for me. The fries were sort of weird looking, but tasted alright. Will have to eat here a few more times to stop sitting the fence.

I tried Lashish the Greek tonight and it was excellent. The atmosphere is relaxed and very friendly. But what really matters is the food, and whoo, that is some awesomely good food. I ated too much, but it was worth it. I had the red snapper with the herb and butter sauce. I'm not sure if this was the best fish I ever had, but it's in contention. Perfectly spiced, tender and moist and flaky, spicy but not overpowering. Mo said that his blackening technique differs from most blackened fish in that he doesn't overcook the fish. And I must say, he was right about that. You can blacken fish and not kill the flavor, I never would have believed such a thing to be possible until tonight. My girlfriend had a combo plate with chicken, steak and lamb. And this super great garlic sauce that makes the chicken go from really good to really really really good.

I went to Lashish on the recommendation of my vegetarian daughter, who said it was amazing. She was right. Delicious food, gracious and friendly attention from the staff, especially the owner. We started with hummus, the creamiest I've ever had. The owner brought us a sample of baba ghanoush and even though we had ordered baklava for dessert, he brought us yummy warm squares of semolina cake. Hubs had chicken with tomato sauce and cheese on top (can't remember the name) and I had Kefta Kabobs, both very tasty. Oh, that rice with vermicelli-so good. I'm already thinking about what I'll have next time.

  • Tom E.

Kafta platters with beef and lamb ground in restaurant was very flavorful and great with hummus rice and salad. Beautiful presentation on the plate. The owner is very welcoming and obviously takes great pride in what he serves. I visited with a friend from Greece and he discussed the name of the restaurant, which is a Turkish word, not Greek. He said it is a combination of "La" - French for 'the" and "shish"-kabob. A little play on words.

This is one of the best places to eat in Columbus! The chocolate cake is the best in the world-almost like eating pure chocolate. The dinner menu is delicious. I went back twice in one week because I was so impressed with the food and ambiance. The owner/chef is very nice, he made me feel like I was a close friend.

A great place to go when you want something tastey and quick. They have awesome togo sandwich specials, but if you have more time its always fun to talk to the owner, Mo, who is almost always in the dining room talking about his new creations.

  • Andrew S.

Just got back from my third visit here. All the rave reviews aren't exaggerating: this place does everything right. The food is phenomenal, the service is incredible, and the prices are low (about $10 for dinner entree, often a bit less). As others have pointed out, the first thing you will likely notice is the gregarious owner/chef (I assume he's one or both of these), who will be happy to talk your ear off about the food. It's clear he does it not to drum up business or to obsequiously flatter you, but rather out of an overflowing enthusiasm for what he cooks. He will, without being prompted, make suggestions, explain how things are cooked and why, and even bring out complimentary stuff he thinks you might enjoy based on what you ordered. All of this would be irrelevant if the food didn't live up to it, but it does. While there is a constant menu, he always has at least a few special dishes on the handwritten board by the door; occasionally he will even tell you of something that isn't on either that he just happened to whip up that day. Here's the thing, though: it's all fantastic. Whether it's a normal gyro or something more unique, everything oozes with love and attention to detail. Stuff that other places would treat as an afterthought (e.g. fries or rice) are as delicious as the entrees. Everything is made from scratch. The moussaka, the grecian chicken, and the red snapper that's often among the specials are particular standouts, but I haven't sampled anything here that wasn't (at a minimum) very good. On my second visit, he had made up some sort of Greek version of chicken pot pie made with phyllo dough. We didn't end up ordering it, but it was apparently so good that not one, but two other tables felt compelled to chime in and tell us how great it was when they overheard him talking to us about it. That about sums up the experience of eating here.

I love this place. I went the other day for lunch and the owner was super friendly! He brought us some fresh home-made hummus to try which was incredible. Our entrees were fresh and authentic. When we went to leave we asked for two baklavas to go.... and the owner wanted us to try all his desserts! He gave us a few on the house that he insisted we had to try and let me say... that is the best damn baklava in the city. I will definitely be a regular here!

  • Megan J.

I love this place - it is my new go-to place for Greek. Almost everything I have had here has been amazing - not a huge fan of the desserts (too much honey for my taste) but who needs desserts when there is so much other delicious stuff? The bagaganoush is hands down the best I have ever had. The gyro salad is a great mixture of veggies and tasty gyro meat. Ok now, I want some and it is only 8 am.

This is my new favorite restaurant in Columbus. I'm a huge fan of Mediterranean food of all flavors and my honey took me to this place last night for the first time. I'm usually skeptical of restaurants in strip malls, but Lashish changed my mind entirely about this. The owner, Mo, (and all his cooks, I might add) wear full chef's uniforms - hard to come by in a casual restaurant located in an ugly strip mall. The dining room is very intimate and seats perhaps 30 people maximum. The food...oh my lord. I ordered the falafel appetizer and my fiancee had the spanikopita. The falafel was, bar none, the best I've ever had anywhere. Light and fluffy but still firmly held together with none of that old oil taste that so often characterizes it when it's served in a casual establishment. The spanikopita was huge and extremely fresh - the phyllo dough seemed to practically float off the plate. Entrees included shwarma meal for me, lemon chicken for my friend, and the pastitsio for my honey. The portion of the pastitsio was so large that it served as dinner for her that night AND lunches for us both today. It was the best I've ever had and the spices of this particular dish reminded me of something cooked in the kitchen of a close Greek friend. My dinner was serviceable - the shwarma was unfortunately a little gristly and tough (I think I'd try it in a sandwich next time as opposed to its own entree) and the hummos - I must admit - was much too bland, though the consistency was lovely. The pita it came with was serviceable but I'd skip these if you're going to Lashish and save your pita and hummos craving for a visit to Lavash in Clintonville. Added perks to this dining experience: the owner was extremely friendly and I truly felt more welcomed here than I have at any dining experience in recent memory. We all left with a courtesy piece of namora, which was a delightful ending to the meal. The price for two of us, with drinks, apps, full entree and one almond cookie came to $31 - truly a bargain for such a fantastic, hearty meal served by people who obviously care about their customers. This restaurant is going places - get in and visit before there's an hour wait for dinner.

BOTTOM LINE: You need to eat here. Seriously, get in your car right now. Creamy hummus, soft pita, fragrant falafel, shwarma and lashish sandwiches were made with fresh veggies, and the respective lamb and beef meats were rich and tender. The baklava was flaky and covered in a house-made syrup that was decadent without being oppressive. The staff was friendly and caring and the owner/cook was a joy to speak to. He's basically the nicest guy ever. All this being said, I don't doll out 5 stars very often but I was blown away by my experience. I'll gladly come here again and recommend to anyone. Price is good, too. But I'd gladly pay more for such a warm experience. Don't let the strip mall thing scare you off, this place is a true diamond in the rough.

Simply amazing greek food, from the calamari (wow!) to the syrupy phillo'd goodness in the dessert case. The only off note was the gyro. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but nothing close to the deliciousness that is Cafe Istanbul doner kebab.

This has got to be my favorite impulse "sure, lets try that place" dining experience ever! We were pulling in the parking lot to try Johnny Buccelli's(sp?) and saw this hole-in-the-glass-wall and I still have not been to Johnny B's but have been in Lashish at least half a dozen times in the last month. The owner is the kind of guy you want to give your money to because you can tell he just loves what he does. I'm pretty sure if you went in and just asked for water and sat there you would end up with a full meal. Everytime we have gone in there I think I've had 2 things I didn't order. The pastistio(ok I know, I can't freaking spell and I have no idea who akila is) is a possibly 10 pound brick of starchy goodness for like 9 bucks. Great variety of salads that aren't your typical "Greek Salad". Always has specials that pair well with the weather(seriously?!) and he will tell you about everything that's in the dishes. As a cooking enthusiast I love this detail. Just go freaking try the place.

I can't really add much to what has already been said about this awesome little restaurant, but I just had to write something because it was so good! The owner is a genuinely friendly and warm host. He really appreciates all his customers and wants them to have the best experience possible. He brought out complimentary bowls of chicken lemon soup while we waited for our entrees and delicious hot tea after out meals. We tried the moussaka and the gyro plate and both were excellent. Large portions and very pretty plates. The decor is as warm and inviting as the owner. We will definitely return and maybe try something more adventurous from the menu.

Holy cow! First time here. I was met at the door by a mustachioed gentleman with "Mo" on his chef coat, and treated like we're there every day. He told us the specials, which sounded amazing, but I had my heart set on the Shwarma... I'll get to that in a second. We ordered filafel and fried smelts to start off with. They were great. But don't you dare eat them with your fork. He came over and told us yet were finger foods, and taste better that way. I had to agree. They were tasty! Then here comes the Shwarma, with a huge salad and a side of hummas and pita. The Shwarma was cooked an seasoned to perfection. I was impressed at the first bite. The pita was soft and warm and made the perfect scooper for the hummas. The salad was a salad. It served its saladly duties. My friend had he kibbeh, which although "not as good as Mom makes, was still pretty damn good". After dinner, Mo brought us a couple cups of tea to sip on. I think Mo might be my new best friend. No doubt, I will be back.

This place was okay. The owner was a little too amorous when we came in after it first opened. We got free soup and also free dessert when I didn't eat my entree. I didn't eat it because I had morning sickness and then he kept giving me free food because I wasn't eating what I had, although I wasn't eating it because I wasn't feeling good. I informed him as to why I was eating, but he just propagated the vicious cycle! The food was just average Greek food to me. I am not a keen fan of Gyro's so I ordered Kibbeh. Again, it was okay. We had our 2.5 yr old son and the place was accommodating for him.

Family owned and operated. Some of the best Greek/Lebanese that I've had in a long time at a low price. The cook/and who appeared to be the owner was very friendly and gave my wife and I samples of food we had never heard of. All fresh and made to order. We stopped here on the way back from cleveland to columbus. This was the only non-corporate restaurant with good reviews in the strongsville area. It was a good hike from I-71 (about 8 min. because of the high traffic area and lights) but well worth the detour.

Spanikopita is a must!!! They often sell out so get there early!! The food here is authentic and made fresh to order. The décor won't thrill you, but the food more than makes up for it.

Great place to dine with the family. Everything on the menu is home cooked and served in very large portions. The Greek fries and the calamari make fantastic appetizers. The Greek salads are fresh and huge with a delicious dressing. The seafood specials are always high quality fish. Most importantly, the owner Mo interacts with staff and customers to assure their dining experience is a special one! Don't miss the outstanding cheesecake either!

  • Shea H.

The food here is rather basic. I've tried twice and both times I was not particularly impressed. My veggie gyro was a wee-bit flavorless and the fries were... just blah. I consider myself pretty easy to please when it comes to fries and these weren't all that great. I was given some sort of yellow piece of cake or something for my wait and it was yucky. At least parking was easy... Oh and to the patrons of the female persuasion: the older, owner-looking gentleman, although very sweet, seems to like the ladies and will pretty much violate your person space when flirting. He put his face in my neck region and I felt kinda violated. You have been warned.

Really loved this place! Good Falafel is hard to find in Cbus but theirs is made fresh every day. Service was great! Big portions and it is a nice, clean restaurant. Very reasonably priced. Specials sounded good too. Definitely coming back! I want to come back and try the pot pie made with phyllo dough.

I stopped by here to meet up with a friend and his family. I wasn't planning on eating, but the owner brought me a complementary bowl of soup. Can't complain about free soup. I also ate some of their Greek fries, which were awesome, and I got a slice of delicious mail order NY style cheesecake.

A cozy, sit down restaurant with very friendly wait staff! I came in for lunch hour and got the Greek fries, which was a hearty helping of fresh cut fries covered in a greek yogurt sauce and feta. cheese I didn't even ask for ketchup as the toppings provided ample flavor. I had the shawarma, and my friend had the lunch gyro, which are typical of your Greek fare. Food was served promptly, and we were able to get in and out, even with the friendly owner coming by to chat with us.

I had the chicken gyro, and it was good, but felt like it was missing something to make it memorable. The Pita was nice and warm and fresh, but the chicken tasted a bit bland. Good, but nothing great.

YES! Authentic, and the owner is such a great guy - he makes you feel right at home. The place is small - so getting a table especially for a larger party may be a challenge. My teenagers loved it too! In our party of four we had a good variety of food and it was all incredible!

Tasty gyros, good size. The $6 takeout combos are a great deal. Only negative is that the fries aren't super great. With crispier, less greasy fries this would be five stars.
