When I heard about Insomnia Cookies, I wanted to go immediately. A cookie place that bakes cookies as you order them sounded pretty awesome. I imagined a small cafe type setting where you point to the dough, go sit down with some milk or tea, then a few minutes later they bring you your cookie. What it actually was is basically a hallway that gets a little wider as you get to the register, with milk crates lining the walls to sit on. They serve 2 kinds of white milk and chocolate milk, nothing special. The cookies come out almost immediately in a wax paper bag. They are crispy on the outside and very soft, almost underdone in the center. Either they bake them way too fast, or they are pre-baked. Judging by the textures I'm thinking they are baked too fast. They are also a little greasy. I ordered the peanut butter cookie and the white chocolate macadamia nut as well. They were both as described as above, but I'm not sure the PB cookie was peanuty enough, and being that I like my peanut butter cookies soft and chewy, I didn't like it too well. It also had peanut butter chips on top, which I despise. The other cookie didn't have a ton of macadamia nut taste to it either. Altogether it wasn't bad, and as late as they are open, there probably aren't a ton of better options. I wouldn't mind coming back if a friend really wanted to, but I would probably just get one cookie.

Man, their cookies are delicious. Man, WHY DOES IT ALWAYS TAKE OVER AN HOUR TO DELIVER A DOZEN COOKIES?!?!?!?! And yeah, I want some milk with that. Anyway, they deliver after 8 pm. Their cookies are absolutely great (especially the big peanut butter cup cookie). The service is super slow. That's about all that is necessary to know. Order way in advance and enjoy.

just walking around and found this place and i was intrigued. basically they just seem to sell cookies. I got a chocolate chunk. It was warm, fresh baked tasting, soft, melt in my mouth with chocolatey goodness. Can't really ask for anything more out of cookie. Check it out

Can't believe I walked in this shop after almost two years in Columbus! This place is a hidden jem for cookie lovers! I walked in at a chilly night looking for a sweet treat, their display basket lied about a ten kinds of cookies, I wanted a Deluxe Smore's but was told they ran out and had to wait for 20 mins. Instead waiting, I bought the double chocolate chunk and white chocolate macadamia, they both tasted heavenly! You know how homebaked cookies taste differently than store-bought ones, without all the bad preservatives that produce this odd, metallic smell on the cookie? After a first bite on both, I felt like tasting a neighbor's baked goods! They keep the cookies warm in the oven (without over-bake them, don't know how they did it), so when you break both, liquid chocolate just oozed out the cookie dough, better eat them when warm with a glass of milk/tea/coffee, will definitely revisit for their Deluxe Smore's!

After a depressing dinner last night, I had to find a quick pick me up. I conveniently parked close to Insomnia Cookies knowing I'd give into the temptation. I had been debating ordering these all day but never did. I got one of their deluxe cookie sandwiches, and it was pretty amazing, albeit a bit pricey at $7. The triple chocolate chip cookies were so tasty with some chocolate ice cream in the middle. So healthy. One issue I have though is that they put the ice cream between two of these really warm cookies, so unless you're eating it immediately, you literally end up with cookies 'n cream. It actually started melting as soon as it hit the cookies. I ended up salvaging what I could and using a spoon for the rest. Despite my little first world problem here (it actually made it a real pain to eat), the cookies and ice cream were awesome, so I'll definitely be back.

I had my first Insomnia cookie in New York City and it was instant love! The cookies are super fresh and delicious. Great snack for midnight munchies! This location is right across the street from school so it is super convenient for me especially after a long week of midterms and papers! My favorite is double cookie chunk! I love it top it off with a scoop of vanilla ice cream to make my own pizookie!

AMAZING. Cookies were delicious and a perfect surprise at the party I was at. I never heard of this place before. I was passed a box full of cookies and didn't understand why the cookies were warm!! Lol they were delicious and I ate way more than I should. I deducted one star because I do not know the prices- so I can't judge completely... Taste wise- five stars all the way!!!

Let's get real. When you have a hard core cookie hankering at 9pm it's never followed by, "Oh and I can't wait to make them from scratch!"--said no one that I know ever. So enter Insomnia Cookies near OSU campus. It's the hot cookie delivery service for anyone living nearby. Good for ya'll. I'm not in their delivery zone. Which means when I want my late night cookie snack I have to hoof it there myself. That alone itself is a strike against Insomnia Cookies in my book. Second, parking is horrible. It now becomes a 2 person job: one to drive and brave stopping in the middle of High Street (flashers on) in front of the shop front long enough for the passenger to hop out of the car. The passenger goes in to get hot cookies while the driver (me if you hadn't guessed) gets lost in the maze that is OSU campus because well, it's a campus. By the time the driver gets back to the cookie place, the passenger has happily eaten her cookie in the store so it didn't get cold since she was waiting forever. Who could blame her. So at this point this cookie better be THE most delicious, amazing, scrumptious milk chocolate little thing that has ever been created because it took forever and a day to get it. Here's the problem: well, it's just not. I honestly like warming up Sam's Club milk chocolate cookies in the microwave for 11 seconds better than the cookie I got from here. (And Sam's cookies are FAR less work.) I like a very gooey, soft, melt in your mouth cookie. Like when you pick it up it breaks apart soft. Not the biggest fan of warm crunchy cookies, not at all, actually. Insomnia Cookies are small for starters, and my cookie experience was a warm crunchy cookie. The milk chocolate morsels were melted and quite lovely. The best bite was the last bite--the very center of the cookie. But beyond that there was so little that would compel me to go through the whole big rigmarole to experience that teeny tiny center bite of loveliness. Did the cookie taste good? Uhhhh--it's a warm cookie. Yeah. Was it my favorite? Not by a long shot. Would I get it again? If they came warm to my front door, absolutely. Here's hoping for a second location closer to home.

I've been going to Insomnia regularly since I moved to Columbus last spring, typically ordering delivery through GrubHub. The other day when I received my delivery, I found a hair in one of the cookies in our order. I know, gross. I was super disappointed. I called Insomnia and was directed to their customer service call center. The woman there sent me two coupons for six free cookies and gave me the email address for the head of customer service so they could further compensate. I emailed him a few pictures along with my order number and he called me in just a few minutes. He offered to resend the entire order free of charge as well as give me a full refund. Less than an hour and a half from my original order, I relieved my complimentary, hair-free order. He also informed me that in the two years he's been with insomnia, I'm only the second person that's had this issue. They handled it so professionally, never questioning or trying to blame me for it (which is so refreshing). I'll definitely keep ordering from them; they clearly value their customers. Even the girl that delivered my order apologized for the mishap. And in case you're wondering- their cookies are the best in town. Thanks Insomnia!

Best cookies in town. Great customer service. Great Hours since I work 3rd Shift. The only bad thing is the parking! Cookies 1-5=5.

I am a sucker for this place. I love several things about them. 1. The fact that they deliver something other than pizza subs or Chinese. 2. The fact that they are open extremely late 3. That the cookies are always super hot and fresh. I am a chocolate chip girl myself and these ones are ridiculously great! I wish they had locations aside from in college towns.

Decided to stop in for a reward after a week of midterms while in need of a sweet treat. I ordered a cookie-which with snickerdoodle and macadamia nut cookies and cookie dough ice cream in the middle. The good- the cookies were hot and clearly freshly baked, and the ice cream was good actually outshining the cookies. That's where the not as good comes in...the cookies were nothing special. Both were much too hard for my liking, and honestly you can get the same quality cookies from subway and much better ones from a solid bakery. Could be an okay spot to kill a sweet tooth craving if in the area though. They also have brownies and other desserts, and the staff was extremely friendly.

Best cookie ever!!! Who doesn't love a hot chocolate chunk peanut butter cookie?? It was so incredibly good!!!!

  • Joseph R.

These cookies are magnificent! When I came here recently I tried a chocolate chip, chocolate chunk, m&m, and a sugar cookie and I loved them all. They were also fresh and there were plenty of chocolate chips in the cookies. They're also very cheap. It was only $1.10 for each cookie I got- though according to their website the prices went up to $1.35 (still worth it). I also want to point out that these hours are not accurate. It says 4PM - 12 AM- but it's called insomnia cookies for a reason. They're open until 3am in the morning and they open at 12PM.

  • Samantha V.

The cookies are good. Dont order delivery, just dont. This is my 3rd time waiting 2+ hours for some cookies. Guess I gotta learn to bake. Edit: this order took 3.5 hours and the cookies were hard as rocks. Bummer!

Cookies are served warm! Great for a cold day like today! Don't forget your milk, especially if you get the chocolate peanut butter cup cookie (: Yum!

Honesty, is there anything better than a cookie or brownie that is hot out of the oven? NO! When you do not feel like baking, just call Insomnia Cookies so they will do it for you. This place is genius. You can order on the phone or online. There are choices of brownies, cookies, cookie sandwiches, ice cream and milk! I always get the brownie and peanut butter cookie. All of the cookies are WARM when they get to your door. The flavor of all the cookies and brownies are great. Trust me, I've tried almost all of them. My only complaint is that they can take a reallllly long time on weekends. I have waited for an hour and a half multiple times. Other than that, this place is amazing.

Peanut butter cookies are outstanding! Quick enough delivery too.

One of my favorite places to go in the summer! Their cookies are as close to homemade as I can get without visiting my mom.

May 15 was National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, sounds legit. We used it as an excuse to try Insomnia Cookies. It's the strangest location, I think it's the orginal entrance to the building, but it's been sort of cut off by restaurant equipment. There are no lights, it's super dark for a bakery. We ordered four cookies, chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, mint chocolate chip, and the "deluxe" s'mores cookie. The regular cookies are $1.25 and the deluxe cookies are $2.50 The chocolate chip cookie was kind of a mess, it was a little underdone. The mint chocolate and oatmeal raisin cookies were in better shape. The deluxe cookie fit it's title, it was huge and full of sticky marshmallow and chocolate. I'll go back for the s'mores cookie, it's fantastic. It was a little wierd, but the cookies were good, the price was right, and my kitchen wasn't destroyed by baking, good job Insomnia!

I came in right before happy hour ended, not knowing that it was a special time. I asked the guy working there about the price, and he told me that the computer locked it out at a certain time when I told him it was 6. So I gave the exact time of 5:58 and he told me I had a minute to pick my cookies...instead of ringing them up then grabbing the cookies he slowly put my cookies in a box first. It was pretty annoying...like he wanted me to pay more. I did get them before it hit 6...but he ruined my experience. My favorite was the chocolate chunk. The white chocolate macadamia nut was kinda gross...even though it's usually my favorite type of cookie. I loved how soft everything was though...although some of them tasted a little underdone.

All that you can expect from a cookie. Best thing is they serve it warm. Very freshly baked. Only downside is for a place specializing in cookies they could have more variety.

  • Matt S.

Ordered a cookie and a scoop of ice cream at 1am, didn't arrive till 3am(closing time), and tip was included, and driver was rude. Wouldn't rely on a place like this when you're hungry. Highly disappointed.

5 stars? Really? For a late-night cookie place on campus? Yep. Insomnia Cookies really is "as good as it gets" when you're looking for some homemade goodness in the middle of the night! I ordered online (Yes! I successfully avoided speaking to another person!) at 8:58 pm, and a dozen cookies showed up at my door at 9:20 pm. And they were warm, gooey, and super-delicious - for about a dollar apiece! So, if you're between Spring Street and North Broadway, and you find yourself wanting cookies - go to Insomnia Cookies. Wait - I mean - let Insomnia Cookies come to you!

This place is SO amazing. Most of the cookies I have tried there are awesome, but the best is BY FAR the peanut butter chocolate deluxe (peanut butter cookie with crumbled Reese's cups on top). I usually get cookies delivered (check their website for the delivery locations). You can order, pay, and even track your order on their website. They are pretty fast, and the cookies come to your door still warm and soft!! Mmmmmm....

Warm, gooey cookies were perfect after a tattoo session. *love* Excellent selection, good pricing, and amazing taste... all in all a fantastic place to go for a bit of sweetness.

I can see this of a safe and legal way for college kids to stay up all night "studying" just from the sugar high you get off of these babys. I am a huge fan of all things overly sweet and insomnai cookies sure fits that bill! We went right when they open at 4pm and its quite a hole. A narrow hallway with a counter and thats it! So we sat in the car out front and enjoyed this warm, gooey goodness! It beats any fancy, gourmet cookie or brownie place by far, I have never tasted any dessert so rich, chocolatey, messy and good ever! I had one of each of the jumbo deluxe cookies: smores, peanut butter choclate and triple chocolate, each orgasm worthy! I also got a snickers brownie. I had no idea it would be a warm fresh brownie and then they crush and smear a whole snickers over that puppy, a stoners delight! Yes this is the perfect dessert for any teenager with a case of the munchies or anyone with a serious sweet tooth!

  • Jurgen J.

Ok, must of the bad reviews are because of the terrible service. The cookies itself is wonderful. Those of you who haven't tried it should tried it immediately! My favorite is the plain and the peanut buttercup. It certainly one of the best tasting cookies i've ever had. How can you not love the idea of having cookies late at night. I think this is why a lot of OSU students have beer bellies. Beer and cookies bellies?

For those cold, sad nights when you just can't bring yourself to get off the couch: THERE IS HOPE! Insomnia Cookies delivers gooey glutenous gluttony right to your doorstep. They deliver until 2:30am too, which is pretty amazing when circumstances prohibit you from getting behind the wheel or you jes don't wanna. Unfortunately they're pretty slow -- expect to wait 45 min for those fresh-baked babies. There is also a $6 minimum for delivery so don't order unless you're serious about getting your sweet tooth on. I've never tried just walking in the store, mostly because it's right next door to Brenen's and I'd rather waste my calories on a white mocha instead if I'm there. Great for: late night munchies, super lazy stoneresque days, any chick day/ night when you desperately need chocolate but can't justify going out to get it

What a night! Cookies might have gotten a higher rating if the service hadn't been so horrible. We ordered the $10 for 12 cookies special and noted on our online order that we would be paying in cash. When we went to pay the driver with a $20 bill, he said "I only have $5 in change." I was planning on tipping the driver, but not a 50% tip. The closer I got to my apartment, from the front of my building, the more that bothered me. Delivery drivers should carry change, that is seemingly a large part of their job, especially for a $20. I called customer service and the woman I spoke with was nice and understanding and said that the driver would be back to deliver my change. 30 minutes later, still no change. At this point, as I have to be at work in the morning, I was getting annoyed of staying up waiting for the driver to come back. Eventually, after a second phone call to customer service, he returned with change, and without looking at me or saying a word, handed it to me. When I mentioned that he could have maybe apologized, he followed me into my apartment building and rudely said "I asked you if it was okay...." Which he had not. At the first delivery, he said "I only have $5 in change," and gave no other option. On top of all this hassle, they charge a delivery fee, what a joke! I will not be ordering cookies from insomnia cookies any time soon. It is certainly not worth the hassle. The moral of the story is, if you do, use a credit card.

Offering cookies and brownies warm out of the oven, late at night, delivered to your door- it really makes you wonder what took them so god damned long. For those of us who don't constantly fill up on beer every night, Insomnia Cookies is the perfect thing for a late-night sweets craving. I'm really, really upset that they closed for the summer. It's not their fault- campus is probably all of their business (sometimes I feel like our apartment is their only business), so closing during the off-term is, I'm certain, a great move for them. But I miss them. Even me, sweets-a-phobe me, even I love Insomnia Cookies. I like the cookies more than the brownies but I love the brownies- so there you go! They have a good selection of both, although I think the plain brownies are better than any of the more candy-ish brownies. When those cookies show up, warm (sometimes even hot) and at my door- that's quite the thing. Amazing. They'd get five stars if they still delivered milk. (Bonus secret: if you promise a big tip, sometimes the driver will pick up milk for you on his way over- well worth the extra delivery time if you're out of milk yourself, or if you want whole and your house stocks 2%.)

Every time I've ever been drunk enough to forget that ordering from this place is a bad idea, I am soon reminded with their horrible service and lackluster product. First off, greasiest cookies I've ever had in my life. A warm and gooey cookie is one thing, an undercooked, greasy, falling-apart cookie is another. The service is my largest complaint, however. Once, there was a problem with my credit card information, rather than calling me to correct the situation, they just went ahead and cancelled my order with absolutely no attempt to contact me. Another time, delivery took 2.5 hours (on a weeknight!) and they completely screwed up my order. I called, they refused to send me what I ordered. Last night, my last time ordering from these people, I placed an order, they charged my credit card, and guess what? I never received my food. I've been calling them all day to have my money refunded, and they won't pick up the phone. Do not support this business. Customer satisfaction is not on their list of priorities.

I am so jealous of Columbus for having Insomnia. Whywhywhy isn't there one in Chicago? There are lazy college kids here too.. I love warm cookies. They're like a hug from the inside out. And even though Insomnia cookies may not be the best in the world, they are always warm and always delicious. Fucking awesome. Whoever came up with the concept for this place was brilliant. Late-night cookies that are DELIVERED to you? Who wouldn't want that? Nomnomnomnomn

As a political science student I've learned that unhappy constituents are the ones that vote most. Oh, and the elderly. See, thing is, few things drive me to write a review faster than a total irreverence for good service and customer satisfaction. I've long been a fan of Insomnia Cookies. Since I visited friends at University of Illinois as a high school student and enjoyed warm, gooey cookies at 2 AM, I've loved this concept. Needless to say, when an outlet opened catering to OSU students a few years back I was ecstatic. And the love affair started beautifully. Cheerful service, soft cookies, soft, dense brownies, and too many coupons in UWeekly to allow me to resist satisfying my craving. But in recent months? Things ain't been so wonderful. Dry, burnt brownies, oily cookies and even getting yelled at by an employee when I called to check the status of my order a half hour after it should've arrived. If I'm eating all these sweets I should probably work out more anyway. I'll take a pass, Insomnia Cookies. I'm hopping on my bike and heading to Pattycake instead.

  • Lisa S.

I don't know who thought to open up a late night cookie and brownie delivery joint on a college campus, but they are obviously on a higher plane of thinking then the rest of us. Sheer genius. You have about 6 different kinds of cookies and brownies to choose from, including mint brownies, snicker brownies, M&M cookies, and probably the best peanut butter cookies I've ever had. And the best part is that they're delivered to you warm! Minus a star, because they don't have milk! How can you deliver cookies and brownies to me and not deliver milk to me? Though the staff is super friendly and I'm pretty sure knows my entire household by name already. We bribed one of the drivers to pick us up some milk for a grand tip. And it totally worked!

    (4)
  • Elizabeth V.

The only reason they get 2 stars is because yes I love cookies and their cookies get the job done even if sometimes they are way too under-baked. I think the people who have written reviews only having gone a couple times don't really have an accurate judgment of this place. I've been getting insomnia cookies for about 3 years now. The first year was so sad because I was so giddy just thinking about how awesome the whole concept of this place was. I went through many nights sitting there waiting for my cookies..1 hours goes by then 2 hours, and then one some occasions 3 hours had gone by and I was already passed out sleeping by the time they got here. They were NEVER on time with delivery. And then every single time there would be something incorrect about my order. Some times they would replace cookies they didn't have with other cookies with out even calling me to let me know and asking what I would like to replace it with. Or there would just be items completely missing. Needless to say, after that first year I learned my lesson and never ordered delivery from there again. Now I only ever get them if I go directly to the store. But even then, that never goes smoothly. There was one time when I was almost positive that the counter girl was intoxicated with a substance (I have reason to believe this might be the norm at this finely run establishment but I wont get into that). Every time, without fail, they are out of something that I want. Just this last time when I went there on Friday night, I had in mind the deluxe peanut butter cup cookie and the double chocolate mint chocolate chip, but surprise surprise they were out of both of them! I settled on M&M cookies and they seemed to be different (in a bad way) from the M&M cookies I had previously gotten from them but oh well they were cookies nonetheless. Now, I know to just not expect anything out of this place besides for pretty okay cookies. Some many times in the past I wanted to call them back and complain (they don't answer the phone) or file a complaint to the main office but just never did because I never been one of those people to do so (although I probably should have). But I do think people should know about the inconsistencies of this business so they don't have to go through the disappointment I went through, and I am sure many others. If they do happen to get everything right for your order and get it to you on time that is awesome and I hope it continues I just don't think this company will ever be able to get their shit together. Taking a look around at reviews for other insomnia cookies there seems to be a commonality of being a slow and disorganized business.I would love to see them get their act together and make it a nicely run company and they would probably see their profits increase as well.
