Pretty good steakhouse but very expensive, as most steakhouses are. Started out with the seafood tower appetizer and it was pretty good not great. Had oysters, clams, shrimp and crab legs on it. Cocktail sauce lacked the horseradish flavor but was okay, seafood was fresh. Followed it up with the rib eye steak, cooked medium rare with a side of creamed spinach. Steak was cooked perfectly but the spinach was too salty. I like reasonable salt so takes a lot for me to say something is too salty. Had 2 martinis with dinner and they were prepared good. For 3 of us the bill was over 300 so it is rather pricey. If I was in the area and craving a steak I would go again just wouldn't go out of my way.

The steaks are delicious. The preparation options were plentiful. I thought they did a great job. The sides were also all delicious. Make sure you order the scalloped potatoes. I highly recommend.

What I ate: Caesar Salad - 3 stars It was okay, but it lacked flavor (I had to add lemon juice). The big loser was that the croutons were soft. Not sure if they were old or just not prepared properly. Regardless, that's unacceptable at this price range. The server's response was that the chef was still working on the recipe because they have only been making them in house for 6 months. Hmmm. Petite Filet Mignon ($44) - The first steak came out about 5 minutes after I received the salad. The server immediately replaced that steak with a newly cooked at the proper timing without me even having to make a comment. Excellent save. The steak was a total 5 star - delicate, succulent, divine, perfectly cooked.

Yowzers. Came here for some innocent happy hour cocktails and snacks with my hubby and walked out with the largest dinner bill in history. All worth it, but that won't happen again for some time if we want to continue to have a roof over our heads. Haha... We had a gift card to come here so we thought we'll just go early and order a few things and leave. Well, we talked ourselves into being seated for dinner when happy hour was over and ordered steaks, sides, and a bottle of wine. Everything was cooked to perfection and the service was excellent. The steak was like butter and the wine was paired perfectly. We ate, drank, and were treated like kings. However, beware that the happy hour cocktails there cloud your perfectly good judgment and intentions after consuming two. If you are on a budget, stick to happy hour and don't let anyone you are with talk you into having dinner! :)

Good steak. I enjoyed it even though I'm not a Buckeyes fan! Fun atmosphere and very pleasent server.

A very good restaurant with very good service. Came without a reservation on a Saturday and they managed to find an outdoor spot right on High St. Food was delicious too, a little pricy but it's expected for the quality given. Only issue is parking, but there is a valet there for customers. Great place!

The food at this particular Hyde Park steakhouse is pretty good. The service is also pretty good. Its location at the junction of the Short North and downtown is prime. The interior decor is top notch. So is it worth the steep price? I suppose that depends on what you're looking for in a restaurant. If you're looking to impress a client or a date or something, this restaurant will get the job done. If you judge Hyde Park solely on the quality of the food though, I'd say it's middle of the road among their similarly priced prime steakhouse crowd. Thus the 3-star review. We dined here on 5/7/15 for a work related dinner. We were seated in one of the private dining rooms towards the back of the restaurant, but walking through the restaurant to get to the private room, I did take notice of the elegantly designed dining room full of affluent looking businessmen in suits. (Note: Do not come here wearing jeans and t-shirts or you'll look out of place.) I started with a glass of Sam Adams Summer Ale, while my coworker got a glass of Columbus Brewing Company IPA. Sadly, these are the only 2 draft beers they had that night. Our server told me that they also have "whatever bottled beer you can think of," but I didn't bother asking him since I'm pretty sure I could've named 10 different bottled beers that he didn't actually have on hand. Or maybe I should've asked for a bottle of Brooklyn Sorachi Ace on the off chance that they actually had it in stock, since the Sam Adams beer was pretty weak. Our table of 5 was then served jumbo shrimp cocktails (excellent), spicy spring rolls (pretty good), and chicken satay for appetizer. The chicken satay was disappointing, since the chicken itself was unseasoned, and was entirely dependent upon the teriyaki sauce that came on the side for flavoring. And correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought chicken satay usually comes with peanut sauce and not teriyaki sauce? We had the wedge salad next, which I thought was a bit skimpy on the dressing and toppings compared to other steakhouses. For my entree, I got the 14oz New York Strip Steak. It was cooked medium rare, just like I ordered it. It was also very tender. However, there was a complete lack of marbling in the meat, there was close to no char on the surface of the steak, and I could barely discern the flavor of the meat itself since they poured so much melted butter on top of it. Since it's a prime steakhouse, I assumed the meat would be USDA Prime grade, but now that I think about it, this steak was not advertised on the menu to be prime grade beef, so for all I know, it could've been the same USDA Choice grade beef that I could get at Sam's Club for $9.99/lb. On hindsight, I wish I'd had their dry aged steak instead. I'm admittedly being picky here. I'm a bit of steak snob. Most people will enjoy the steak here. I'll reserve my 4 and 5 star review for steaks that blow me away however, like Ruth Chris' 11oz "petit" filet, Smith & Wollensky's 48oz Porterhouse, or Ocean Club's NY Strip. Also, looking at their sample menu online, I see that they also serve Japanese wagyu steak from the "Miyzacki Kagoshima region". Miyazaki is a Japanese prefecture adjacent to Kagoshima prefecture. So I'm guessing they mean wagyu steak from the Miyazaki/Kagoshima region. A quick search on Google Maps would've informed them of their mistake. I wouldn't pay extra for live Mein lobsters or Flo Rida stone crabs, so you might want to watch out when you're ordering Miyzacki beef. Could be the real deal or it could be a Chinese knockoff. For dessert I had their cheesecake, which was good, but once again, nothing special. It didn't even look special. Just a red cherry-like sauce on top. So overall, it was a good dinner. If I wasn't a foodie who's especially picky about his steaks, it may have even been a great dinner. But for the price of a typical meal at this restaurant, I think I should've been more wowed.

Now this place will make you feel fancy! From your first step in you feel as if your on vacation. They cater your every move-even helping the ladies comfortably adjust ones chair. I loved that despite our arrival in jeans and vans they trusted our choice in visiting their establishment. We were immediately greeted and offered beverages. The waiter felt more like our personal server in the most respectful way. A true class act in the way he helped navigate the first timers thru an experience. As he started with a delicious steak story, winning our smiles right off the back, he fit in a mellow lesson of the world of great meat choices. Not only did we learn something new, but we were made able to confidently order despite what many may feel is a bit pricey for anything outside of a special occasion. Our appetizers came quickly and every thing we tried was amazing. My only knock would be lack of a better presentation. Truly a place worth trying and spending a little extra at. We didn't order dessert but the portions were impressive by size. Beat part=staff. They make the experience one worth razing about.

I'm going to try, despite my usual tendencies, to make this a short review, because dining there definitely took up enough of my time. We went here before a family reunion on my father-in-law's side, as we'd decided to stay the night before in Columbus. Shout out to Columbus though, what a cool little city! We also went here because my youngest brother-in-law 'wanted steak' and so - we went to get steak. On a side note: I am not a fan of steak but most decent steak houses will have plenty of other fair (fish, interesting soups, etc) so I didn't mind. Also, I'm from Texas and a family of steak-loving carnivores, so I know a good steak when I taste one. Being the only night in the city though, it wouldn't have been my first pick, but I could see tension mounting when trying to make a decision on where to eat, and was trying to be the friendly, easy to get along with daughter in law I typically aim to be. That said, the review: The building and the one across the street from it are of the same architectural style and are lovely. The entryway is understated elegance, and I loved the light fixture above the host stand. Furthermore, all the carpeting, chairs, and booths are red - which is my favorite color and made it a pleasant environment in which to endure dinner. Also, the 'Mer Soleil' Silver un-oaked Chardonnay was absolutely delicious. It was complex, fruity and refreshing all at once. What a lovely wine to sip! Another highlight was the pretzel bread - which was doughy, flavorful, and just lovely. (I only had half a piece though, as to not ruin my dinner review). However, a restaurant cannot, and of course should not, rely on its Sommelier, baker, and interior designer to deliver the entire experience... and yet it seems that Hyde Park does just that. I guess by slapping on a high price tag next to each entry, and having a kitschy system of 'how we cook our steaks' (as well as fresh vs aged vs wagyu) and 'three (or four?) options of sauces and prep' delivered in a pompous speech by a waiter who was more interested in delivering said speech than listening to us was supposed to make us feel like we were really getting a special treat... And judging by the reviews on here, it seems a lot of people have been fooled rather well. So I lied when I said I'd make this short. Now to the main event: My mother-in-law ordered the scallops with shrimp in a lemon butter sauce she insisted on sharing with me. I was down for that, as I had contemplated ordering it as well. Wow, it had maybe one flavor note of singular, over-used spice, and that was it. The scallops, also, were rubbery and thus overcooked. My husband ordered the sea bass, which came as an enormous steak, and he had ordered it in the charred preparation. Thankfully, as it was huge, at least this left the interior moist and fresh-tasting. This was possibly the only thing at the table that tasted fresh. The main complaint here? They used far too much butter on top of the charred prep and ruined the dish, IMO. His 20 year old brother got the lobster bisque for a starter which, according to him, was 'great!' My husband tasted it and merely, slyly shook his head at me with a frown. I also tasted his brother's steak, which while decidedly full of steak flavor, was nothing to write home about. And since home is Texas, I wouldn't write home about it if you had a gun to my head. And what did I get, you ask? I got the chilled shellfish platter, which meant oysters, lobster, some crab legs, and shrimp. We were all shocked at how rubbery the lobster was, and how little there was. I honest to God left lobster on that platter! My husband's dad sadly said, "this lobster was overcooked and waiting." The shrimp were also disappointing, bland, soggy, you name it. The one oyster I did eat still had shell left inside from shucking. The only decent things on that platter were the crab legs, which are typically my favorite anyway, but the amount of meat in them was spare, less sweet than normal, and a bit too frozen to have been served, as well as being a pain to retrieve from the shell. (With the amount we paid, this should never have been the case). Even my father in law shook his head sadly at his grouper covered in Oscar sauce. That is, before returning to his hotel to find he'd had an allergic reaction to it. (Not that that's the restaurant's fault.) Final thoughts: At least the decor is pretty, the Mer Soleil fantastic, and the pretzel rolls tasty. I say, go for the wine and the pretzel bread and then just leave, leave and go have dinner elsewhere. (Perhaps Marcella's down the street?) Thanks but no thanks, HP. Or, hey - kudos for tricking people into thinking they're getting a bang for their many bucks. You cheeky buggers.

Came here with some colleagues on a business trip. The pretzels were delicious but the rest of the bread was lacking. I had the steak au Nicholas and it was superb. The peppercorn sauce really popped and brought out a richness to the steak alto high it was not the best steak I've ever had. The steak was a perfect medium rare and the garlic mashed potatoes were maybe better than the steak. I had a glass of 2012 Alamaya Malbec and it was very good. The server was great and we were never wanting for anything. I had some issues with my bank card but the server and our server was very discreet and patient with me while I resolved the issue. The atmosphere was nothing out of the ordinary for a restaurant in this price range. Very good restaurant with a decent wine list but they aren't reinventing the wheel.

Wednesday night meet your match. This is one of the few places that can make a Pittsburgh black, and make it so well that even with a bone in 16 oz T-Rex portioned filet minion of meat was very aptly devoured by a tiny person like myself with a hunger for more. The flavor profile was phenomenal, and great to try. They can mix and match any meat preparation with your choice cut of meat if you want to try the above or their other delicious meaty fare in a certain style. Their oysters are amazing as well, coming from the coast, they were probably as clean and fresh as a typical coast fare--which is highly impressive. None of that excessive briny flavor that builds up with time. Ask for Jeremy or Paul if you can, they really take care of their customers well.

Amazing service, happy stomach! The ahi tuna appetizer is delicious, and the filet mignon is YUM. I got multiple drinks, and every single one was awesome, but the Moscow mule is definitely the best choice! Brussels were okay, and the lobster Mac is also good, but the steak definitely took the cake!! Speaking of cake, the cheesecake was also darn dreamy.

I am writing this review strictly about the food. We started with the Lobster bisque and Crispy Calamari . The lobster bisque was too salty and there is no lobster in it, at all. I think the crispy calamari was a joke, because it was not crispy at all, even the ones that was not covered with sauce and the sauce was just sweet, instead of sweet and spicy. We then had to wait 30 minutes from when they removed the appetizer plates from our table to the main course being served. 30 minutes and the waiters seemed to be unapologetic as if it is an acceptable time between courses. The steaks, I ordered the 36 days dry aged ribeye and my girlfriend ordered the regular bone in ribeye. They looked great... because it was already dark when they came to our table.. I took the first bite and all I can taste was bitter.. because it was burned, they were both burned to the point that we had to remove the outer layer of the steaks so we can taste the actual beef. My dry aged steak was fine, not great, but her steak was tough and tasteless. I would have returned the steaks but my girlfriend doesn't want to wait any longer and wanted to get out from this place as soon as possible. Thanks for ruining her birthday dinner!

Went here on a romantic date with a serious girlfriend at the time. Prices for typical steakhouse ranging from $40-$60 for a nice piece of steak. The atmosphere was nice and quiet. Also, the service was pretty good - she came and check up on us, which I like. The seating wasn't tight so that's what I like about it. I would highly recommend taking somoene here if you want to impress them, but the prices were very expensive. The food was a typical steakhouse and wasn't that impressive for me. They didn't mess up the cook for my steak (Medium-Rare). Would I come back? I would, but the person I'm dating must be very special and wouldn't be the first place that comes to my mind though.

Well kept restaurant. From the devote, to the device to the food. Everything was classy and fancy. Parking may be tough, but there was valet for $6. The high ceilings on the outdoor patio exudes eloquence. The service was impeccable. He was attentive, but not posing. Our calamari apatitizer was simple, and dressed in a sweet and sour sauce. My lamb chops were tasty and juicy. The lacking aspect were the sides. mushrooms were nothing special, and the asparagus was stringy and over done. I would recommend it and anyone would be happy with the selection (except perhaps the person paying the bill).

We were out celebrating my 21st birthday and this restaurant is fantastic. The waitstaff is awesome, and we had our favorite server, Susie. The food was outstanding, all 5 of our steaks were cooked to perfection and the heaps of garlic and lobster mashed potatoes we ordered were to die for. The sides are larger than expected so we probably did not need to have 10 side dishes on the table since we ended up taking 2 bags of left overs which we all fought for the next day. The food, service and atmosphere is unbeatable. Last year we went to Mitchell Ocean Club in Easton, which was only okay, but this birthday is one to remember partly because of the outstanding job at Hyde Park. Also the drinks are amazing!

The asparagus was cooked to perfection. Best thing I can say about this place. Started taking bets for fun on how long it would take the waitress to even stop by the table. The manager came over and said he thought our appetizers looked bad BUT never took them off the ticket. And medium done steak is WELL done!!!! ...... The valet was super nice as well - over all the experience was on the same level as Bob Evans

Excellent place. The bread basket was amazing. We had the Wedge salad with thousand island dressing, truly spectacular. The steak was perfectly cooked although a little warm. The side dishes are also great. We had the baked potato, asparagus and the hand cut fries. Completely recommended.

This is by far the best quality dining experience in the Short North. Best drinks by far!!! Great staff. Always have seating available. I have one complaint. Styrofoam take out boxes. Really guys?!? Step your game up.

I was here for a business dinner and the food and service was exceptional! We had a group of almost 30 and they took really great care of us! We had one of their set menus and everyone enjoyed their food. The wedge salad was very nice and normally I am not a huge fan of blue cheese dressing, but their dressing I am a huge fan of! I then enjoyed a perfectly cooked fillet mignon followed by creme brulee. This place would be great for a date, dinner with friends, or a business dinner. It will be a great night you will remember.

This was our first experience dining at Hyde Park. I really wanted to love this place, but there were a few service hang ups that kept me from getting there. I called a week ahead to get a reservation for my husband's 30th birthday. The gentleman who took my reservation was really nice on the phone and arranged to have a bottle of Cab waiting on the table for us and told me there was a birthday dessert they do with a candle on top. I thought "awesome, this is going to be so great". When we arrived, the host and hostesses were very pleasant. The atmosphere seemed warm and welcome. There was even a Santa for the kids at the front (drinking what looked like a cosmo). The host checked to make sure our table was ready and then came back to retrieve us. Our table was average (not really an intimate location), and the bottle of wine was just kind of hanging out on the table, no presentation involved. I don't believe there was any communication between the host and our server because she was thoroughly confused about the bottle sitting on the table. After I explained that I had called to have it pre-set, she walked off to get waters. When she returned, she said that the host just told her about the wine (better late than never?). Our server was nice enough, but nothing special. No attempt at establishing a report or even asking why we were dining there. Service was fine, the calamari to start was DELICIOUS, everything came out well timed, and the steaks were amazing. 5 stars for the food for sure. 3 stars for the price. 3 stars for the service. After we were finished with what we could eat, our server packaged our food and brought us dessert menus. I kept waiting for her to bring the birthday dessert (thinking that the host told her it was a birthday), but nothing ever came. Apparently she was not aware. My husband and I left full and pleased for the most part. It's just those tiny missed details (such as the rose petals and note a hostess laid out for an anniversary next to our table... nothing fun for birthdays?) that would have taken the experience from "pricy" to "well worth it".

This is one of my favorite Columbus restaurants, but lately, the service has been kind of so-so. Last night, the hostess was going to sit us at the bar. I told her we'd rather have a table, but then my friend said she'd prefer to actually sit at the bar. The hostess' response was, "That's good because the table you were getting wasn't the best." I asked, "Why is that?" She explained that the good tables were already reserved. Mmmm, ok. It was a Monday night, and half way through our meal, when I got up to use the restroom, I noticed that there were plenty of "good" tables available in the main dining room. My feeling is that if I'm paying top dollar for ambiance, food and service, then the hostess should make every effort possible to give us the best table w/out being prompted or asked to do so. When they don't, it sends the message: you're not as important as our other guests.

Have been to so many prime steakhouses around the USA and I can say Hyde Park is on the bottom of all the ones I have visited. The service is excellent, but my 18oz RibEye was under seasoned and was totally under cooked. I spoke to the manager and he mentioned that there were some new people on the kitchen and they may have screw it up. I will give it another try but as far as I can say it is not worth the price.

Without a doubt the best steakhouse in the Columbus area. Steaks always cooked to perfection , restaurant has a great vibe . Service is amazing . Wine menu is extensive . Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys fine dining / great meat selection . Their seafood is lovely too

Monday night was the 5th or 6th time we've been to Hyde Park. All of our previous visits have been top-notch, just what you would expect from a high-end steakhouse. This time, not so much.. We went to celebrate my wife's birthday and bought our 3 kids with us (ages 13, 11 and 9). We chose a Monday reservation at 5:30 so it would not be busy. (We didn't want our kids to be any kind of distraction to other diners. They are well behaved and know the restaurant drill, but I know when I typically take my wife to place like Hyde Park on a date, I'm not really looking forward to seeing kids). The restaurant was probably 85% empty during our meal. Having said that, we were seated next to a very large table that was having some sort of dinner meeting and it was incredibly noisy (we were separated by a curtain). It was a bit aggravating considering the majority of the dining room was empty. Why not keep that large party mostly to itself? We often dine at high end steakhouses and we are used to the dinner moving at it's own pace. This is not fast food and one should expect time between courses, but it was slow. REALLY slow. The waiter clearly knew we had kids (and it was a school night), but we ended up having a nearly 2 hour dinner in a near-empty room with no appetizers. We've never had slower service at Hyde Park and to have it so slow in a nearly empty dining room should be concerning to the management. Our salads, bread and sides were very good as usual. I chose one of the red wine blends that was made just for Hyde Park and it was very good also. The problem was the taste of the steaks. I couldn't believe it, but all three cuts of steaks that we ordered were mostly flavorless. My kids got the twin fillets, my wife got a ribeye and I ordered the dry-aged ribeye. I noticed immediately that everyone was asking for the salt after tasting their meat. We have never even thought of having to salt and pepper our steaks in an upscale steakhouse in the past. The steaks looked perfect, had a very good texture, and were cooked correctly to medium rare. It didn't matter. The taste was very sub-standard across the board. If just one of the steaks had tasted bland, we would have asked for a replacement. In our case, all five steaks were tasteless. I was stunned. Needless to say, for what we spent on this dinner, we expected better. Much better. I'm not happy writing this review, for Hyde Park had been our favorite steakhouse in Columbus for quite some time, but I do not see us returning for a long time.

I should start by saying that the food here was very good. I ordered the 10oz Bernie Kosar Filet with lobster mac and cheese and my wife ordered the Sea Bass with a side of Asparagus. The Sea Bass was clearly the best thing we ordered. Probably the best fish I have ever tasted. That being said, they only get two stars because, while the server was very thorough and friendly, he was clearly being overworked. It took nearly 15 minutes for them to come to our table to take our order. Once our food hit the table, we didn't see him again until we were about finished with our meals. In addition, the prices were too high for what you get. If you want a similar experience at 15-20% less, you can go to Cameron Mitchell's The Barn, M, or Barcelona. All of these options have just as good of a menu, wine list, and you don't have to put up with short north traffic/parking. Columbus is now a city where you have your choice of a lot of nice places for great food. You don't need to settle for one that is inconvenient, over-priced, and has bad service. I don't recommend this restaurant.

I've been to several of these in Ohio as well as the one in Daytona Beach, FL. Hyde Park Prime is a high quality, remarkably consistent, top tier chain steakhouse. I'd put it on par, if not slightly above, Mortons and Ruths Chris. I would also give them the leg up on Capital Grille as CG doesn't always use prime cuts of steak. I went here last night with a couple of friends. We each had an appetizer, steak, shared two sides, and enjoyed two bottles of Cab. The bill came to almost $500 w/ tip. I'd say that's probably on the pricey side for a place like this, but the service was impeccable. The food was very good, albeit a tier below the best steakhouses in the country. My 50 day dry-aged 26 oz. bone-in ribeye was slightly undercooked for my 'medium' request. On a positive note, that means my leftovers should be perfectly medium after heating up the steak. We didn't get a chance to try desserts because we were all so full. I will say that the dessert menu was more extensive than I am used to and had several tempting options. I would certainly return to HPP, particularly this downtown Columbus location. Ask for Elijah (sp?) - he was cordial, knowledgeable, and paced our meal flawlessly!

The food was wonderful, excellent staff! Had their Caesar salad, filet mignon, and cheesecake! All was well, Loved the blueberry sauce on the cheesecake, though I did wish there had been just a bit more of it to enjoy. The Caeser salad really was wonderful, however the croutons were saturated and turning liquid themselves. This is not to say there was too much dressing, because it was a perfect amount, but seemed as if they had been soaked first then added into the salad.

PERFECT!. im not a big meat person but let me tell you this I can taste the true flavors of the meat. I didn't need any sauce. the shrimp was perfect not burned and chewy. just perfect. Didn't give it a 5 because of price but I knew that going in. loved it. also a great place to have a private party.

For the price, I should have rated this a one star, but for the quality of the food I give it a two, because "Meh. I've experienced better," and we could have caught them on an off-night. Pretty much everything on the menu was ordered: The chilled shellfish platter which had a sampling of every kind of cold seafood they offered, various types of steaks, and a couple different types of fish. In summary, most of the items on the shellfish platter were still frozen, and just lacked flavor, the steaks were cooked properly but didn't have the extra flavor of a premium cut, and the fish, while amply portioned, was just OK. The service was good but there was an air pomposity which I could have done without. The atmosphere, on the other hand, was really good. Needless to say, we felt unsatisfied, and a few hours later we wandered over to Marcella's and for a third of the price, and five star service, we had a much better time. (Except for the wine, but it's Italian so I'm not gonna hold it against them.) Here's a link to a more detailed review that I agree with: yelp.com/biz/hyde-park-p…

My sister and I decided to catch a bite to eat on a Saturday night since we have not eaten out together in quite a while. We chose Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse in the Short North, probably a mistake on our part due to the Comfest and congestion on High Street. I ordered the NY Strip 18oz which was very good. The steak had very little or no gristle. I do not like butter on my steak and was not aware that they put it on the steak....yuck! I also ordered the Lobster Mashed Potatoes which were OK...but not great. I've had much better at Mitchell's Ocean Club at Easton. In fact, I've eaten many times at Mitchell's Ocean Club and their food and service as well as ambiance is much better than Hyde Park. At the end of the meal, I ordered the "Colossal Red Velvet Cake" to go and I took one bite and Yuck!! I probably should have ordered the Apple pie or Crème Brulee. The cake tasted terrible. The cream cheese frosting was horrible. My meal including 2 Michelob Ultra beers was $116.05 for just me. The dining experience coupled with the noise of the Restaurant left me feeling less than impressed. My steak dinners at The Top Steakhouse, The Clarmont, as well as Mitchell's Steakhouse have been more than satisfactory. Sadly, The Clarmont is no longer in business.

I've eaten at the Hyde Park in Beachwood and experienced a perfect meal. So I expected a similar result at the Columbus location. That didn't happen. Attitude is everything in service community. From our arrival to our exit, there was a shade of condescension from the staff. The hostess was not thrilled to greet us. Our waiter was more enthusiastic, but slightly lackadaisical. He screwed the pooch on pur orders and charged us a higher rate than what we ordered. He then insisted it was our fault. Management fixed the bill, but still maintained it was our fault, though we pointed out their errors on the menu. Billing us correctly was the least they could do. Having to fight for the correction took a bloom off the meal. The food was fine but not as impressive as the Cleveland location.

A friend and I decided to treat ourselves with a good meal after a long week of work and an equally long weekend. We bellied up to the bar only to have sat there for 5+ minutes before being offered drinks. 5-10 minutes later (while the bartender is tending to other patrons) our drinks (minus the waters we ordered)showed up. About 15 minutes into the experience we still hadn't received menu's to look over the offerings. We contemplated moving across the street to Black Point but at the verge of our time limit we were offered menu's and minor attentiveness.. so we stayed and ordered. The bartender was unable to 'sell' us on any of the steaks as his knowledge of the cut seemed extremely limited. We both went with the 36 Day Rib eye. The steaks were basically thrown in front of us with no presentation or appeal. My friend and I split the bill, signed our respective checks and left.. but I felt uneasy about the experience.. for good reason. The very next day (Monday) I submitted this complaint via Hyde Park's website and received a phone call from Kevin (Manager) regarding the experience. We came to an agreement and he said he would mail a gift-card for my portion of the meal sent over so I could try the restaurant again. I agreed and that was that. On Tuesday I looked at my bank statement and it appeared that the inattentive bartender proved is inability to properly serve by CHARGING MY CARD TWICE on a split bill. I called Kevin at Hyde Park again and he claimed he was embarrassed and his 'head was in the sand'. Two weeks later and I have received 1/2 of the charge back and still no gift card, which I am perfectly fine with.. it was a cheap lesson to be had. Overall the service is why I will NOT be dining at Hyde Park again. I grew up in Columbus and thoroughly enjoy some of the fine dining it has to offer, however I've had better service and experiences at a waffle house on a road trip. I give this experience a 6/10 due to the lack of attention, service and poor personality of our bar tender. Moving forward It is my duty to share this horrible experience whenever Hyde Park is brought up in light conversation.

Top notch restaurant. Beautiful, upscale, great food, excellent attentive service. I had the aged steak my guests ordered the "regular" steaks. I thought their steak was ever bit as good. All the meals were excellent. The salmon was wonderful as well, world class. If you find yourself in Columbus you should plan a night at this restaurant.

Had the wild caught salmon. Amazing. Had the Brussels Spouts and sautéed mushrooms as my sides. Ate no bread but it looked good too. Bring a full wallet. You will need it. Worth it though.

I came here on business a few months ago and im still thinking about the mac and cheese. Dont get me wrong, the steak was excellent. But the mac and cheese was out if this world. It was the best lobster mac and cheese ive ever had. The other highlight of the meal was the cabernet burnt shallot butter for the steak. Normally i dont care for butter on my meat but i made an exception.. Im so glad i did. It was such a delicious flavor. Only things i have to critic about the restaurant is the crispy fried onions covering the plate didnt have to be there. I would have never ate that many and im sure most people dont. Last thing was we had ordered the seafood tray appetizer. All the seafood claimed to be fresh but it tasted frozen to me. Other than that it was amazing!

This was a great place to sit and be catered to, The waitress explained the menu and the drinks were amazing, even though our bill was 200 dollars, the food was well worth it and the portions was enough for lunch the next day

You can't go wrong here! Steaks are great. The moscato was the best I've ever had. The ambience is very smooth and inviting. Whether you live or are visiting Columbus, Ohio. Put Hyde Park on your to-do list.

As "meat and potatoes" go, this is pretty standard fare. Ya know, people rave about this place and I just don't understand why. Sure, the food is VERY good, but I've had better when it comes to steakhouse fare. And yes, to be fair, the offer a selection of seafood as well but let's be honest - if I want killer seafood, I'm heading to Fish Market, Ocean Club or one of the many amazing sushi joints around town. I thought that what differentiates the experience at Hyde Park might be superior service, but yeah... also fairly standard. I mean, the patio is really nice. The internal ambience is impressive. But, quite honestly, if I'm going to drop $65 on my meal, I'd rather go somewhere with larger portions and a more robust variety of preparations. I guess what bothers me is that Hyde Park is known for being a steakhouse, but they don't really have a signature dish that you HAVE to try when you come here. Meh.

My wife and I have eaten at several Hyde Park locations. The first time we stumbled across a HP, we were in Birmingham, MI. We had been traveling and looked like it. Me, tennis shoes, jeans and t-shirt. Wife, pretty much the same. We had no idea it was fine dining but damn did it smell good from a block away. Upon entering, I realized we were definitely under dressed. I asked the hostess if they had any tables along with, are we dressed ok. She treated us no different than anyone else. They served us the best steaks I've ever eaten along with the best homemade Banana Cream Pie you can imagine. Yea, I said Banana Cream Pie! The server treated us like we were his best regulars and the mgr stopped to check on us. From that day on we spend every special occasion at HP. This night, we were celebrating our marriage. They gave us a complimented glass of champagne and a sampler. Then as usual, our favorite steak house did their thing...made us smile.

Great steaks and sides! Started with carpaccio which was rich with flavor, a great starter . The wedge unfortunately, was horrible! The brown sugared pecans really ruined the salad. The steaks were great, we got the 36 day bone in ribeye and the aged bone in strip....all I can say is wow. They were both fantastic, cooked to perfection with wonderful beef flavor. The Brussels sprouts with hazelnuts were awesome too! Definitely recommend!

I was very pleasantly surprised by this place. I think they have really taken into consideration the prior reviews and made it even better. Like Black napkins for example. The steak and Brussel Sprouts were Amazing. The seafood tower (Dr. Jeckel) we could have done without. One of the best steaks I have had in Columbus so far. Thank you!

I am normally not one to give quasi-chain restaurants 5 stars as I tend to find them to be inconsistent, but I have to give this Hyde Park location specifically 5 stars as this was one of the best work dining experiences that I have had to date in my professional career. In a nutshell... they get service here and they are very good at what they do... even if you have an annoying guest at your table, they are professional and cordial and continue to provide service (I witnessed this at another table on my way to the restroom, thankfully not at my table). We added 4 more seats to our reservation last minute and they did not even bat an eyelash... they made sure we got what we needed and added to the raw bar type apps that we had pre-ordered accordingly. Wine glasses were always full and mouths were always happy! Great food, phenomenal service... I will definitely remember this the next time I'm looking for this type of a meal. I always forget about the Hyde Park at home, but now I will have this great experience as a reminder.

Unless you are rich stay away. I thought the food was good but who can afford 750.$$ for five to dine out for two hours. We ordered and appetizer and I looks at the bill and it was 99$. Come one the atmosphere was not that great nor was the service. I can think of ten places that bI could dine at half the cost. I was buying for business so didn't really pay attention to the listed prices but whoo did I get a shock when the bill came. All in all good service but the pricing is New York or royalty status. NO THANKS

We went for our 3 year anniversary dinner for the first time. It was a Wednesday night but the place was packed nonetheless. There were mostly business dinners and less couples. Our waiter was very nice, but I think they push the more expensive steaks on us. He explained every entree that we had questions about and was pleasant to talk to. Our food was perfect, expensive but that is what we expected going in. The lobster mac & cheese is amazing, and so rich. The potatoes au gratin were also very rich, and full of heavy cream. The steaks melted in our mouth! I had the Woody Hayes which was delicious! I can't wait to go back sometime in the future, maybe for another anniversary or a birthday.

I've been here a couple of timed for business dinners - most recently last week. Excellent location for large group dinners with private dining areas. Great service. My KC bone in was cooked to perfection. Only detail preventing 5 stars - over seasoned with salt.

If you ordered the lobster bisque and closed your eyes, you might wonder if it was lobster "bisque" (using loosely) or Campbell's mushroom soup.... very "base heavy". The steak I ordered was sandwiched in a deep sea of salt.... literally... overly salty béarnaise on the bottom and salty blue cheese on top.; they thought it appropriate to comp a glass of wine in light of this terrible, unbearably salty $49 mess (um... yeah... sure.... that equals it out). Ordered lobster mac and cheese... The pasta was overcooked to the point of mush, and adding a few pieces of lobster in, after that fact.... not so much. We left it all behind, because frankly, if I am not going to eat it at the table, I am certainly NOT going to eat it at home.... so why bother taking it in the very cheap styrofoam container they brought (at least take a lesson from Panera in the quality of your containers). Unfortunately, $239 later plus tip, a very bad experience. More disappointing because dining there the last time was 80% great.... This time, we agreed it would have been better to dine at Chipotle or Dirty Franks. What are you thinking, Hyde Park? Never again. Adios.

steak kosar was a little undercooked but garnished in a lovely way. Whipped mashed potatoes were so good as were the potatoes gratin. Calamari was a little chewy. Vanilla bean creme brûlée was delicious! Not too sweet. Good meal, good service and good atmosphere.

I love this place. Been here before but continue to return and with good reason. The food is amazing. We split an appetizer last Saturday night filled with calamari, scallops and crab cakes. Had a few drinks. Found plenty of room at the bar (it was close to 10 pm) and our service was really good. Asked the bartendar the score of any football game and he knew. Nice perk and pleasant surprise. I've eaten dinner here before and my experience again, was awesome. Consistent service (outstanding) and the food is awesome. What a treat to stop by for a late night snack after the Joe Bonamassa concert. We will be back. :)

Service - that pretty much sums it up. If your looking for a perfect piece of meat coupled with lobster macaroni, look no further. Take your wallet out, sit down with someone special and enjoy! Steaks are cooked perfectly and the service will make you feel like royalty - you really can't go wrong. If you haven't had the chance to experience a prime steakhouse, you owe it to yourself to give this place a shot. Your missing out as selling your Stacy short if you stay away simply because of price. Enjoy!

If you're in Columbus and looking for a few sights with your high quality fine dining experience, this is not your spot... On the other hand, if you want some sturdy, solid food to soak up the stiff drinks as the finish to an evening of sampling Columbus' only compelling eye candy... this IS your spot!! But, there's a catch. Because the Hyde Park conglomerate has cannibalized the High St. cap, Hyde Park is the 'mature' eye candy mecca! If you're looking for the under 30 eye candy not clinging to stiff, portly dudes trolling for trophy wives, then you have to go "next door" to Eleven.... You weren't expecting a review of the steaks and starches, were you?!!

Yes please! As beautiful as it is on the outside and with this kind of excellent service and high prices I was not expecting less than 5 star food and was not dissapointed. I had no planned on coming here but after other plans fell thrugh last night and I already fed the meter we decided to go here. There was not one tableoccupied in the restaurant part, the bar however was packed. We nabbed some of the lounge chairs and were served water and an excellent bread basket right away. I loved the crackers, they reminded me of everything bagels, oniony, garlicy and full of seeds. The pretzels were also very good as well as the rolls, and good butter as well. The guys went wth the happy hour specials of sliders with fries and pizzas at $5 each. I just couldn't resist the $20 special with a wedge salad (crispy bacon, yummy pecans and a great balsamic vinagrette) for a main course I chose the salmon (usually $26!). It was a huge piece, perfectly cooked, along with roasted tomato, carrots and broccoli. For a side I had the sauteed spinach with mushrooms, also a clear winner. That meal would have come up to $50, so the $20 special for soup/salad, any entree, any side is a great deal. Loved our evenng here, very good meal I can recommend to anyone!

I'll start by saying that the atmosphere and management are excellent. My lousy meal was comped after I let them know how I really felt about the food and the manager came over and talked with me for quite a while and was genuinely interested in making things better. That said, the French onion soup tasted like water and onions with a packet of McCormick seasoning added. The cheese in top was in a pre cut square. Seriously??? For $9! The creamed spinach tastes like nothing but spinach cream and salt. The blackened scallops were legitimately good. A small redemption. Overall the food is utterly lacking in imagination. It might have been ok 20 years ago but these guys have been left behind by the creativity of modern cuisine. This menu needs a makeover before I would go back. You have lots of better choices in this part if Columbus.

It never ceases to amaze me how fast people are to write a bad review. I guess I get it - we expect 5 star all the time. But when you experience 5 star service, it really is quite special. I am somewhat remiss in writing this review as my visit was over a month ago but my experience then prompted me to try the bar (Eleven) last night. We had theater tickets and decided to make it a special night out. We arrived early around five on a Saturday night and was seated promptly. The server was a pro! She explained the menu, as it was out first time. We were undecided as to which wine we wanted so she had the manager, Joe come to our table to assist us in our choice. His knowledge of wine was very impressive and the Cabernet he suggested and we ultimately chose was exquisite. The tuna tar tare arrived shortly after our wine was poured - a delicious starter to the great meal that followed. We ordered the fillet Mignon and the scalloped potatoes! The fillets were perfectly cooked and the scalloped potatoes were the best we have ever had! Save room for desert because the Creme Brulee topped with fresh raspberries is a must! I have to agree with Faith A. "they get service here and are very good at what they do." The server and the manager provided exceptional professional service and if you are looking for that special dining experience in Columbus it doesn't get better than Hyde Park in the Short North.

We arrived a little early for our reservation and headed to the bar for a drink. When our table was ready we were approached at the bar and escorted to our seats. So far so good. we ordered appetizers, Lobster Bisque and Oysters on the Half Shell, both were excellent. I had an Petit Filet with a Crab Bernaise Sauce and my son had a New York Strip. Both cooked to perfection with wonderful flavors. The problem came with the sides, Whipped Potatoes with Lobster and sauce and Creamed Corn. The claw lobster meat was undercooked and the creamed corm left us physically picking out the hard pieces that had been closest to the cob. We were competed for the potatoes and did not complain about the corn because it would have been too unreal to have two bad sides. I was expecting this to be like Bobby Flay Steak, Wolfgang Puck's or Morton's and it was not.

Went to Hyde Park on a whim last night when The Top was closed (oops) and still really wanted a nice steak. I've heard it's crazy on weekends and I think whenever I go back it'll be in the middle of the week again. Got to pick what table I wanted and the service was very good. My filet was cooked properly and the lobster bisque was delicious and creamy on a really cold night. The space felt cozy and it was just dark enough. I'd love to reserve the private area with curtains and its own section of the wines sometime for a special occasion.

Had a reservation for 8, showed up with 9. Took 30 minutes to add a chair and table settings for 1 person. We got a free shrimp cocktail out of it. This is a place where people go to be seen. The food is not that great but it doesn't seem to matter because it was packed anyway. I got the burger because I didn't feel like spending $40 on a steak I knew wasn't worth it. We split some sides including spinach, whipped potatoes, and lobster macaroni and cheese. They were nothing special. Service was ok. The one redeeming action during this entire episode was the waitress splitting up our check individually. That was pretty cool of her to do. This place has nothing going for it besides a decent location. There are better restaurants in the Short North and there are far better steaks scattered throughout the city.

This place is amazing! Everything was cooked to perfection especially the calamari. Our server was very polite, professional, and attentive. The sea bass I ordered was flakey and melt in your mouth good. The drinks were spot on and you could not even tell there was alcohol present in one of them. We will definitely be back as much as we can.

I wanted to love this place, I really did. It feels like they really want to make it an upscale experience, but just haven't figured it out. Issue #1: It was HOT in there. Their AC just couldn't keep up with the summer heat. I'd guess it was about 85 degrees in the bar, somewhere around 80 in the dining room. Issue #2: I don't mind paying more for upscale dining, but Hyde Park takes it into the "gouging" category. Example: $25 for a martini and a manhattan, before tip. Add this to issue #1 and I'm sweating for two reasons. We had the lobster appetizer and it wound up being 4 little morsels of meat for about $17. Issue #3: they just haven't figured out the "little things." To illustrate my point here, I'll contrast a similarly priced establishment, M at Miranova. Wearing black? They'll bring you a black napkin so you don't get lint all over your clothes. Taking home leftovers? They give you a nice folded box with the restaurant name on it. Now these may seem like trivial details, but at Hyde park you get white napkins regardless, and your take-home container is the same styrofoam thing you'd get at MCL cafeteria. Issue #4: it's loud in there. Don't expect an intimate experience. Again, this might seem picky, but if you're going to charge me these prices I expect to see these little details covered. The food was good enough (although my $50 steak was under seasoned), but I've had better at lower prices in Columbus, and with a better ambiance, with more attention to detail. If you feel like spending a large amount of money equates to upscale, by all means head to this Hyde Park location.

Great food, terrible service, high prices. A co-worker and I dropped in this restaurant one evening after 9 on a weekday when we were both starving. The service was terrible. It took almost 10 minutes after being seated for anyone to come by our table, despite it not being very busy. Finally the manager came by and asked us if the server had explained the wine menu to us. We told him that we hadn't seen a server and were never given a wine menu. He was very apologetic and a few minutes later our server came, looking none too pleased to be working that night. He explained the menus and took our drink and appetizer orders. The caesar salad was nothing special, though the merlot was very good. Finally the manager came back to take our dinner orders. He explained the different steaks in great detail, but even after we had decided he seemed to keep pushing us to more expensive steaks, before finally relenting. My steak Tressel came back a little burned, but the rest of the flavor was so good that my hunger didn't mind. Lots of garlic and mushrooms, but I think it added a lot. So great food, but for those kind of prices, things like charring the steak and a wait staff that is clearly disinterested shouldn't be happening.

Super atmosphere, excellent food, superior service. Our first time there and we will be back. However- didn't appreciate the tranny in women's bathroom on Fri. night taking up 50% of the sink space while line was out the door so he could apply his makeup. No thanks!

Mmmmm... I'm sprung on steak! Good stuff is abrewin' at Hyde Park Prime and I like it. Had a fabulous meal here on their glamorous street side veranda that felt much more Miami than it did Columbus. I'm sure whether you're dining beneath the billowy ivory curtains al fresco or inside in the dark, plush dining room, your experience is guaranteed a tasty one at Hyde Park. Think classic steakhouse favorites and the buttoned up service to go with it here at Hyde. A proper evening fit for a date night, business dinner or special occasion celebration will be had and the on-top-of-it staff will take care of every need with a most fabulous attention to detail. Purrrfect, indeed. Went with a smattering of items that most certainly exemplify what a steakhouse should do well, and more than well they did! Our traditional (and tremendous) bacon and blue cheese laden wedge salad - with a not so traditional twist of candied pecans - proved delightful and scrumptious with that lovely sweet vs. savory play to ready us for wonderfully dry aged steaks and sides. Oh there's that magic word... STEAKS! And who doesn't love a great steak? I know I do, and Hyde did nothing to let me down when my phenomenally juicy, perfectly charred, amazingly seasoned medium rare 16oz Ribeye arrived glistening with a gorgeous chapeau of Roasted Shallot Cabernet Butter. OMFG! Steak + Wine + Butter + Shallots all in one grand bite? I can die in a happy beef coma now. Sides were equally impressive (i.e. massively loaded baked potatoes, sauteed spinach with mushrooms, garlic whipped mashed potatoes), although a special dish of Sweet Corn with Crispy Prosciutto and Green Onion was my absolute front runner. Looking back on my meal of iceburg with bacon, steak with butter and sweet corn with prosciutto, I'd say I pretty much nailed down the good 'ish at Hyde Park. They put their best foot forward and I just dressed it with a gorgeous Louboutin Leopard Stiletto. Awesomeness, yeah, I'll cheers to that!

My one & only visit was memorable... Jan. 7th, 2006. I ordered a NY strip steak and my server Ryan (yes, he had the same first name as I) took away my partially-full plate wordlessly just as he was serving dessert. Not that it was the best steak I have ever had, but considering I had a $100+ bill, I would've liked more of a say on the fate of my meal. At least the creme brulee was good. And my dinner companion had a lovely time... making fun of my ill treatment. I would NEVER recommend this restaurant.

3 1/2 star. I rate my high-end steak houses very rigorously as I feel that grilling a steak is something everyone can do, so you need to BRING IT...especially if you're going to charge $200 or more for 2 people to have dinner. First, I love the decor...it seems like a classy, upscale steak house with a fun, but still classy, bar area. My steak, the bone-in rib-eye, was good and tasty, but average as far as high-end steak houses go. As I mentioned before, anyone can grill a steak... But the amount of gristle and lack of robust flavor dropped my rating. I rate Hyde Park higher than Smith & Wollensky, but lower than Ruth's Chris and Flemming's. ....about on-par with Mitchel's. Enough nitpicking...this is still a delicious place for a meal. They have great salads and typical, delicious, family-style sides. They also have a great wine list and delicious specialty cocktails.

There are places to get steak and there are steakhouses. This is a steakhouse with fantastic service. We came here in a group, and quickly got our reserved table. Our server was not only knowledgeable about the menu and wines, he was also quite knowledgeable about other things in the area and local events, which is probably handy for a restaurant located next to the convention center, where they might get a lot of out-of-towners. They had two different seafood sampler appetizers, and we ordered one of each to share around the table. I'm not much for the shellfish and lobster and crab set, but apparently they were well enjoyed. I did try some of the calamari and shrimp and they were good. It's not often that you get good calamari. I normally don't eat beef, but since this was a rare occasion, I ordered a steak with a peppercorn sauce. My steak was fantastic, and huge. I really did have to push myself to finish it off but it was great. yelp.com/biz_photos/hqx3… I also got a chop salad, which was decent (and had bacon). yelp.com/biz_photos/hqx3… My wife ordered a steak and shrimp combo, which came with a smaller size of steak and several shrimp, and she enjoyed it. For dessert, she ordered something that sounded fabulous but they were out of it, so they comped us on a chocolate lava cake which was amazing. yelp.com/biz_photos/hqx3… Yes, our bill ended up being huge (in addition to appetizers, entrees, salads, sides (their gratin potato is pretty darn good), we also went through a few bottles of wine. It's been a long time since we've dropped that much at dinner, but it was really good, we ate a lot, and the service was stellar. The restaurant is located directly over the freeway, so expect an occasional rumble as a truck or something goes under.

Dined there Saturday. Very disappointed in quality of food. I ordered the Chilean sea bass ($36.00) and it was so raw it was gelatinous. Waiter whisked it away and brought a bowl of lobster bisque as compensation (that was yummy). The one spear of brocollini served with this dish was also raw. My husband ordered a steak and that was good - guess you don't order fish in a steakhouse! His spinach was barely warm no wilt at all. It was served with several whole cloves of "raw" garlic. We won't be back. Should have stayed at the bar at Eleven, which is affiliated. Bartenders were great.

This place was mediocre, so given the prices I wouldn't recommend it. I wasn't in the mood for a lot of rich food, so I ordered the Kobe cheeseburger with a side of green beans. My burger came way overcooked, and it was very bland. The only toppings were cheese, a couple of onion slices, and a piece of lettuce that had become soggy and greasy by the time I got to the second half of the burger. The fries were fairly tasty, but nothing special. The green beans, on the other hand, were pretty good. The service was kind of obnoxious. It shouldn't take 2 people to deliver a burger and fries, and no one should be calling anyone else "hon". The ambiance and decor were straight out of central casting, complete with overly loud patrons. So overall a solid "meh".

I was part of a group that visited Hyde Park for my buddies birthday. I went in with pretty low expectations, I'm more into the "hole in the wall" spots versus the gigantic "hey, I'm rich, look at me" type of places. I arrived a few minutes early and had a seat at the bar and asked for a glass of whatever inexpensive Cabernet they had and she poured me the last few drops of the bottle. That ended up being $16 .. not really what I'd deem "inexpensive" for a single glass. It was the Mount Veeder, I believe, not sure on the year .. but I had a FAR superior glass of Cab for just $10 up at Lola in Cleveland a week earlier. I got the impression that my group of misfits wasn't really "welcome" and that we were trashing up the scene that the management tries to create around the bar. Everyone looked worried by our presence and I wasn't sure what the employees were thinking. I just got the feeling that we "didn't belong" because most of us wear jeans and aren't into dressing up just to eat expensive food. We were seated and our server Pat was right on top of things. He got everything going quickly and took great care of the table. We had a pregnant guest and a couple of vegetarians (at a steakhouse, no less) and he went out of his way to make sure that each persons needs were met perfectly. I ordered the 14oz Steak Tressel, medium rare. It was good enough, a LOT of garlic and mushrooms. The steak was a bit under cooked for my tastes. The larger part of the filet was a little too rare for me, but the more slender parts were delicious. I also had a few bites of the seared Ahi, that was damn tasty and I'm not a seafood fan at all. One of the highlights was the gruyere au gratin potatoes. They were fluffy, cheesy and delicious, I'd definitely recommend that as a side. I also tried the lobster mac n' cheese and found it underwhelming, subtle lobster taste and traditional mac n' cheese, nothing special. We selected the Nickel and Nickel Regusci for our table and everyone agreed that the wine was delicious. The berries and cherry flavors were so much fun and the smoothness of the wine was incredible. I'd definitely recommend trying this, from what I've read I think that this wine is semi-exclusive to Hyde Park. great stuff. The boys all snuck off to the bar for a birthday shot and the bartender made us a "Vegas Bomb" ... well, it was ok. I don't remember what was in it, but it didn't really taste like alcohol, so that could be dangerous. Finished off with a few bites of the chocolate lava cake, it was warm and chocolaty, delicious even. Nice little dessert. All in all, it was ok. I wasn't floored and had that feeling in the back of my mind that I wasn't really getting my money's worth at all. I've spent a whole lot less and had a whole lot better meals elsewhere, so I do sympathize with people that feel like Hyde Park is overpriced. Our server was awesome, great service, comfy atmosphere, but the food wasn't all that. I don't think I'll be back to eat, but the wine and drinks show enough promise that I might visit the bar again sometime.

Exceptional. The food is delicious and the service is the best as well. I don't eat much red meat but I know a good chunk of meat when I have it. And this was the best I've ever had (not just in Columbus). I can't wait to return! I found the prices to be in line with other fancier places around Columbus, but the food ....WOW....like nothing else. Don't be fooled by a simple presentation - you'll lick your fingers (not that I would EVER do that! LOL).

Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse definitely has good food. We had two huge seafood platters and great steaks. I had a 40 day dry aged bone in NY steak. It was pretty good. The seafood was fresh, especially for being in the Midwest. I live in LA near the beach so was hesitant to get the seafood so far inland :) the deserts were also really good. The only reason they are getting three stars is service. Poor service. All in all the people are great. But they had some issue with our entrees not being fired on time. We waited a long time!!! But they did comp a bottle of wine and a huge platter of desserts. But when you go to a really expensive restaurant I guess I set the bar higher on these sorts of things. It was a large party and we must have paid $1000 for dinner so these things shouldn't happen. All in all I would give them four stars for food, ding them two for the food fiasco, then plus one star for the managers recovery.

I am giving Hyde Park and 4+ or 5- on my return trip. I actually ate here one year ago and did not review. At that time the waiter was not up to par, but the food and atmosphere were excellent. This trip we had an outstanding waiter named Paul. He knew wines, which really made my evening. He did a great job of assessing the table and keeping the service level high to match our event. I will say he was blatantly padding the check with his suggestions, but it matched what we wanted out of the dinner so I can forgive him that. Suggestion to management: take a tip from Capital Grille and give the better waiters a little more discretion on spiffs. On a $1200 table (for 5 people) our waiter had to ask permission to comp a dessert sampler. Give me a break!

Great steakouse. A1 wine list, and they have Plymouth gin to boot! Oysters: as fresh and tasty as beantown French Onion Soup: top 2 or three I've ever had Filet: perfect Key Lime Pie: best I've ever had outside of Florida. Special props to the waitstaff and hostess here: Super friendly and hospitable. Would go back in a heartbeat. GREAT experience.

Good selection of beef cuts on the menu. Ambiance and decor perfect for a casual night out with your special lady. Oysters were shucked well, steak was cooked properly. What more can you ask for from a steak house?

I've been to Hyde park about five times, and each experience was wonderful. The food is delicious, particularly the steaks, and their signature lobster mac and cheese. As far as dessert goes, I've had the pleasure of trying the cheesecake, the lava cake, and the crème brûlée, all of which were fantastic. Their crème brûlée is by far the best I've ever had. It is a bit pricey, but it's a wonderful atmosphere and a fantastic menu. I'd be happy to dine there again.

Now I need to declare a disclaimer before I review Hyde Park. I'm not a steak guy, usually because I think steak is either dry, chewy or cooked not to my liking. Or maybe I'm just not a steak aficionado and think all steaks taste the same. So what drew me to a Hyde Park? A friends birthday and their kobe steak. First off, the restaurant is much larger then you think. Being on the bridge, it's very deceiving. They have a bar area and standard dining room, but in the back they have private rooms. We had a party of 8, and were seated in a room that resembled something in Clue or the Adams Family. That could be good or bad, I'm just describing the view. Side note about the room, they each have their own thermostat, and for some reason our server just couldn't get it cool enough. We were sweating near the end of our meal. Ok, onto the grub. They brought out complimentary breads, rolls and pretzel sticks for us to munch on. I have to say, the pretzel sticks were absolutely wonderful. Soft on the inside, slightly chewy but not crunchy outside. Perfect level of salt too. And sadly, maybe my most favorite part of the meal. I decided to skip an appetizer because of one thing: I had my eye on the Scarlet & Grey (SG), a 34 oz American Wagyu (kobe) beef with a 10 inch bone. Let me repeat that again, a THIRTY-FOUR OUNCE steak. It's not quite John Candy's Old 96'er that he finished off, but my god, 34 oz is like the amount of meat I eat in a week, let alone in 1 sitting. Oh and this 34 oz steak goes for $79 dollars. Yup, hello hoity-toity land. So there were 3 orders placed for the SG from our party (I was one of them). They returned saying they only had 2 SGs left. I sacrificed my order and so my friend was fine splitting his steak with me, my friend who is 6' 2" and plays hockey. He was even intimidated by 34 oz of meat. When we got the SG, it was huge, like "what mythical creature did this come from?" huge. Now my impression (or what I've heard) of American Wagyu kobe beef is that it is wonderfully flavorful and juicy because of the marbling of fat throughout the meat. This 34 oz, $79 dollar steak was neither flavorful, juicy or fatty. I truly felt like I was chewing on a steak from Outback, which is not an insult on Outback, just that it seemed like a standard steak, NOT a $79 steak. My hockey buddy thought the same. What was so special about this steak? And we couldn't finish it, due to the amount of meat and the blandness of it. Double whammy. What saved my meal was my side dish. I ordered a lobster mac and cheese, which was very tasty, not too cheesy with real pieces of damn tasty lobster. The service was actually very good. Both attentive, friendly and funny. I just can't justify 1) eating 34 oz of meat, and 2) paying $79 for an average steak. Thankfully the pretzels and lobster macaroni saved the day. This is a 1 star, but I had a great time with my friends, which bumped it up to 2 stars.

I have been to Hyde Park two times. Both times have been good. I got a porterhouse once and a Kobe bone in ribeye once. Both steaks were very good.

I agree with the reviews that put Hyde Park in the top position, above institutions such as Morton's and Ruth's Chris. It's that good. When you're in Buckeye country, stopping here is a must. The food and atmosphere is fantastic. I had the bone-in filet mignon "Bernie Kosar" style, meaning it was topped with lobster and bernaise sauce. One of the most incredible steaks I've ever had, and cooked to perfection. The appetizers were great, particularly the seafood platter. It was perfect for my party of three. Our waiter was great, especially when it came to his knowledge of wine. When I ordered a bottle of Orin Swift's "The Prisoner," he recommended "Machete," instead - a limited production wine from Orin Swift that was better and only $5 more. The most humorous part of the evening, aside from the Jim Tressel jokes (there's was a steak named after him, probably gone now), was when we ordered the chocolate cake for dessert. One slice of this cake was literally 5 stories high. When I saw the waiter bringing it to my table, I literally had a heart attack. When you're in Columbus, and money is no object, I can't recommend this place enough.

My wife and I chose to eat here for our third anniversary. Let me break it down.... Reservations: was asked if it was for a special occasion Hostess: seated us promptly in a booth with a candle, and rose petals in the shape of a heart Server: forgot his name, but super nice guy, and congratulated us, thanked us for eating their on our anniversary, and gave us a card signed by the staff Manager: congratulated and thanked us Busser: congratulated us Hostess: congratulated us again So far, we were receiving top notch service. We ordered coctails: I had a Fountain of Youth, and my wife had a pear martini. Both were outstanding. Mine was the perfect pre-dinner drink. App: Crab cakes with mustard and spicy aioli. Delicious. Nice texture, and the sauces were a great compliment. Salad: Wedge. Delicious. Standard. Candied walnuts were a nice touch. Entrees: I had a 10oz. Filet Mignon medium rare with peppercorns and butter, fried onions. Cooked perfectly. The peppercorns were a bit overwhelming, so I scraped most of them off. The butter was fine. The onions were a bit too much, and didn't eat them. Great steak though. My wife had a bone-in strip medium. It was underdone. Definitely below medium rare even. Still, it was quite good, and again the fried onions were a bit too much. Sides: hash browns with caramelized onions and sour cream. Not good. The potatoes were cold and hard as a rock. Couldn't even cut into it. Took one bite. Lobster Mac and Cheese: Outstanding. Piping hot, with penne, boursin, and big chunks of lobster. So good. So so so good. Dessert: Apple pie. Had a streudel topping, served ala mode. Delicious. So full at this point though. Overall it was a great experience, and they even picked up dessert! The service was top notch, and the food was so close. Again, one steak was undercooked, and one side was bad. I will say that the menu and concept seemed a little tired, especially for a chain restaurant. There was nothing that seemed "signature" to this place. Very standard, which we wanted, but we also expect something new for a $250 dinner for two.

Honestly, I'd just come here for the service. We planned a business lunch here during a conference at the convention center across the street for roughly 20 people. The restaurant is not normally open during lunch, but they will make the exception with a minimum food and beverage spend which is fair in my opinion. In addition, there are flat screen TVs available to rent for your presentation if you are so inclined; thus, it is a perfect business lunch location in my opinion. Tameka and Paul were our hosts for the afternoon and not only were they polite, professional, and attentive, but they remembered diners' names as well, which is impressive. I can't remember any of my neighbors' names and we've lived in the same building for 5 years. The food was served quickly and the portions were huge. They have a very good wine list and the Manager, Kevin Flannery, is a certified sommelier so he can suggest some excellent wines within your budget. No, the restaurant isn't inexpensive but I didn't have sticker shock. The quality, service, and prices were on par with what I would expect in NYC or another major city. The dining rooms are large and beautifully decorated. The food was good, no complaints here (all of the guests said the food was excellent); however, what really sets this place apart from other restaurants is the waitstaff. They are Michelin star quality hosts. I am obsessed with details and things being done just the right way but try as I might I couldn't find anything to fix or complain about in terms of service. Seriously, as long as Tameka and Paul are the hosts, I'd come to eat bagged popcorn on the sidewalk outside the restaurant. They were awesome and I hope their manager sees this and gives them a big raise. :) This place exceeded my expectations.

Delicious appetizer. scallop with blue cheese, sweet onion dressing, and walnuts. Scallop was cooked perfectly, not rubbery at all. tender juicy. Amazing service. I loved our server. He always came to the table at the right time. So attentive, so personable. We did not feel like we were "just another customer" He also made great wine recommendations. The only downside at the steakhouse was the steak. I asked for a filet mignon, medium. The steak came out a bit too tough for me, and the flavor was too iron-y/liver-y. I had to steal the roasted shallot cabernet butter from my dining companion to make my filet more palatable. My friend ordered the ribeye. It tasted better than my filet, but was also a bit overcooked, tough, and flavorless. 5 stars for the stellar service, 3 stars for the food. Likely will not be coming back.

Why do people give this place 5 stars? My husband and I don't have a ton of money to splurge on nice dinners out. So when we do, we expect the best. I had high expectations of Hyde Park and it failed me. For the price, the food is not very good. I don't eat a lot of meat, so I ordered a lobster. I LOVE me some lobster. After having an AMAZING lobster experience at Smith & Wollenski in Las Vegas the week before, I thought this Hyde Park lobster would be just as good. But it wasn't. It was dry dry DRY! My husband's steak was mediocre too. I expected that 'wow factor' that you get when you purchase an expensive and well-prepared meal. I did not receive that at Hyde Park. Furthermore, I left my ID at the restaurant that night. When I called the next Monday to retrieve it, the manager told me he did not "have time to deal with me" and that he had a "busy restaurant to run." Well, excuse me, Mr. busy manager man, but I am a customer....so maybe next time I won't "have time to come to your restaurant."

My husband and I went to Hyde Park on the Cap in the Short North last night to celebrate his birthday. It was much anticipated as I recall several trips to their Old Henderson Road location years earlier very fondly. Being a Saturday night it was busy as expected, our reservations had the Host telling the wait staff to get our table ready (? We had 7:15 reservations so one would expect our table to be ready on our prompt arrival). We were seated after several minutes to a pleasant table at the front of the restaurant looking out at High Street, so we were pleased. Martinis ordered (and they were quite good) we then ordered oysters on the half shell (east coast). Half of my order was good (though not tended to by kitchen I had to scrape them all off the shell) and half was so small and dried looking I mentioned it to our waitress and she promptly brought 4 more. We were pleased at this immediate and appropriate response. I do not eat much beef, but do appreciate a good steak on occasion and when you're at a steak house what better time to swing out and enjoy! I ordered the 14 oz New York Strip Steak and discussed the cooking of it at length with server to ensure I did not get a steak that was purple in the middle (simply a nice warm pink). She advised going with 'medium' and I followed her lead. It came out rare and purple in the middle. One of the managers happened by soon after I discovered how undercooked my steak was (tall dark haired man with ill-fitting suit on) and told him I had been clear I did not want a steak with a purple center so he whisked it away. Some time later (it seemed like about 10 minutes but failed to check my watch) while my husband's ate his dinner alone (a 10 oz. filet that was not the best he'd ever had he said) my steak finally reappeared. The same manager brought it back and I questioned the sauce that was on the top (I eat gluten free) to find out what it was as I had not ordered it with any type of sauce and needed to make sure it was wheat free. He said it was steak butter, and then quickly said he did not know if it was gluten free and before I could say anything else it was gone again! It was returned to me the second time less than 2 minutes later......which caused me pause. I asked what they could have done to it during that short time to ensure it was gluten free and this new manager stated something about some uber-cooker that will burn anything off. Oh, good......now my steak that been nuked. The outside by now was very tough although the center was as asked....a warm pink. The check came at the end and my steak was still on the bill! I had to bring it to our waitress's attention and she got it taken care of for us. To her and our embarrassment she apologized..... The martinis were good!!

I love Hyde Park, it is by far my favorite steakhouse in Columbus. Because my husband waited until the last minute to book at our favorite location on Old Henderson, we ended up at the Short North location for our "romantic" date night. I'd highly suggest making sure you get pick of the tables if you are coming to this location for romantic. We ended up sitting in the bar area tables and it was loud and annoying. Service was OK, food was great but the ambiance sucked. Stick with another location if you want to go for romance.

I have been a fan of Hyde Park since I went to the Old Henderson location back in the mid 90's for the first time. I was so excited when I moved back to Columbus that there was going to be one downtown. Happy Hour is always a good time at Hyde Park on the Cap! The drinks are excellent and they have a great bar menu. $4 Martinis and $5 Small plates(Sliders, Calamari, Margherita Pizza, Shrimp Cocktail, etc) are served in the bar area. The have a great patio... perfectly positioned to people watch. They offer valet parking which is extremely helpful, although, if you are familiar with the area you can usually find parking within a few blocks. On the weekends the crowds can get a little overwhelming and sometimes that causes the food preparation to be a little off. It is pretty obvious that a lot of people from the Burbs go to Hyde Park on the Cap for a big night out in the city on the weekends. So, I would recommend heading there on a non-weekend night if you want to avoid the crowds. I typically go to Hyde Park for special occasions... We had a great meal for my birthday... great appetizers, wonderful steaks and wine and even a tasty dessert/dessert wine. Some of my favorite things.... Lump Crab Meat Cocktail (Chilled Shellfish Platter for multiple people), Crab Cakes, Seared Ahi Tuna and Wedge Salad to start... I usually get twin fillets with creamed spinach, but, I also love.... Steak A La Lobster or the Sea & Shore special for $39.99 (3 course meal) with several good options. I think it is great that Hyde Park has made some adjustments to offer more reasonably priced selection for happy hour and on off nights to make it possible for people to still enjoy such a great restaurant while trying to be more financially responsible. Looking forward to at least a few summer nights on the patio at Hyde Park!!!

Hyde Park is exciting; you can tell it's exciting because to get inside, you have to walk through an oversized revolving door. Oooo! The inside is all red and gold with plush seating and private little corners. They have some TVs near the bar, which I thought looked out of place. After all, Hyde Park isn't a sports bar. They have a great indoor bar and an awesome patio right on the corner of High St and Goodale St. It's a good place for people watching. The waiters are very helpful and knowledgeable, but they have an air of snobbery, and they'll try to trick you into getting more than you bargained for. The wine lists features over forty selections. The shrimp cocktail is so-so, just like any other shrimp cocktail I've ever had. But I had a marvelous potato dish there: a hash brown potato cake with smoked salmon, a crème sauce, and Japanese caviar. It was the first time I'd had caviar - crunchier than I'd expected. The potatoes were crispy, and the salmon was salty and delicious. The presentation, as always, was immaculate and inventive too. If you need a chocolate fix, try the Hyde Park desserts. They're enormous!

For those that are complaining about the price, IT'S A HIGH END STEAKHOUSE! You should have known that going in. 3 stars because you didn't do your homework, means you are clueless. This is the best steakhouse in the US! WAAAY better than Morton's. And better than Ruth's Chris or Shula's. The only place I've been that compares to it is Schlesinger's in Newport News, VA. I have never had a bad meal at Hyde Park. I go there once a year with my mom. It is our treat since it is expensive. It will cost about $100 for 2 people. There is no surprise in that. The wait staff is superb. We have always had great service. The manager has always come by to check on us to see how we were doing. And the filet mignon is absolutely to die for. If I could afford it, I would eat there EVERY night! If you can afford to spend about $50 for a meal and you want good meat, this is the place to go!

I travel extensively and have had the pleasure of visiting many excellent steak restaurants. Hyde Park happens to be on the top of my list. The steaks are always cooked to perfection. Service is beyond stellar, if you have an issue it is resolved immediately and without question. If you happen to be a regular you are recognized and taken care of as such, something that just doesn't happen enough these days with staff turnover and a lack of attention to customer service. It truly is nice to have someone remember your name and say hello when you walk in the door. I will always return, it is a favorite!

Good food. Good presentation. Way overpriced! Again...way overpriced. They are the best option for good food in a overpopulated area of the short north, allowing them to charge absurd prices. No wonder they can afford to float eleven and expand the restaurant to occupy the whole other part of the building.

Wonderful. Can't beat the steaks and the sides are amazing as well. Perfect for a special night out for well-prepared prime cuts of meat. Service is impeccable and if you come before 6 pm or dine on Sundays it's probably THE best deal in town. Definitely worth everything.

The service here is great but the food just isn't good enough. Pluses: Inside was cooked to order (medium rare) and seasoned well. Great service. Nice ambiance. Minuses: The outside of the steak wasn't cooked properly. Rather than having a crust, the outside was charred and tasted like a severely overcooked hamburger. The cut itself wasn't consistent either. I had several large tendons running through my steak. I've eaten far better steak at other "higher end" placed in Columbus. Based on my experience here, if food is more important to you than decorations, I simply can't recommend Hyde Park. Perhaps their martini happy hour is driving a lot of the positive ratings.

I've enjoyed Hyde Park on the Cap for both intimate family dinners and large work functions. Regardless of the occasion, the first thing that always astounds me is the excellence of the service. Whether you have come to drop some serious money on dinner, or you are selecting from one of the restaurants many affordable options, the wait staff will treat you with respect and attention reminiscent of fine dining establishments in much larger cities. On my most recent visit we had requested a seat on the patio which was spoiled by a late afternoon rain. Not to disappoint, we received a table surrounded by large windows that made us feel we were all but outside. And this quality service is not a feint meant to distract you from subpar food. The menu is both extensive and delicious, and the al la carte versatility makes it easy for you to create your own perfect meal. The wine list is vast (I think they had 183 different bottles the last time I was there). They only have a few affordable bottles, but the sommelier knows what he is doing, so picking the cheapest bottle will still leave you impressed. The dirty martini I ordered was excellent, even down to the extra olives. The waiter even had the foresight to bring us a cup of extra brine (I order mine extra dirty) so we could tinker with our martini's to find the perfect mix.

I spend most of my work weeks in Columbus on business, and this place was recommended to us by several locals. Being new to the area, we were unsure what to expect. Hyde Park is a chain, and being a little bit of a restaurant snob, I admit I was a little too willing to turn my nose at it. But it was one of my best dining experiences ever. The service - well, let's just say their computer system was down the entire night and we only realized it when we got a handwritten check. The waiter was attentive, friendly, polite, and knowledgeable. The wine list was so extensive that my boss, who is a wine connoisseur extraordinaire, found several things she hadn't heard of and absolutely loved (which does not happen often, believe me.) As for the food - it was absolutely spectacular. To start with, we ordered the "Mr Hyde" chilled shellfish platter, which contained oysters, shrimp, lobster claws, and crab claws, and the sashimi tuna. Everything was incredibly fresh, and the tuna was truly sushi-grade. And we were equally blown away when our (perfectly cooked) steaks arrived. Hyde Park is known for their bone-in rib eye, but only one of my coworkers was brave enough to order the "22-oz, heavily marbled" cut - and of course we each had to have a taste. The meat was juicy and tender and literally melted in your mouth, and had so much flavor that we all regretted ordering other cuts (which were still excellent.) We weren't that impressed with their side dishes, but it hardly mattered. We finished the meal with dessert. I ordered an excellent tawny port and shared a warm molten chocolate lava cake with a coworker, and it was just the right size and quite delicious. As a result I was in a food-and-wine coma for the rest of the evening (and probably well into the next morning), but it was well worth it. Can't wait to go back! A must if you're in the area.

What a great place when you have the money to pay for it - lots of meat, lots of wine, lots of side dish, and lots of dessert. BUT right now, Hyde Park is running an early dining special - $19.90 for an early supper - nightly by 6:00p.m. and all night on Sunday at select locations. Call your favorite location to check for times and availability. At this location, my friend and I arrived at 5:00p.m. and ordered the twin filet entree (2 3.5 ounce suckers), cooked to perfection (medium rare with a PUSH) and served with onion straws and sauce Bearnaise. You also get your choice of soup (lobster bisque or French onion) or their half wedge salad with homemade blue cheese dressing, bacon and candied pecans. You also get your choice of a side dish.....broccoli, asparagus, creamed spinach, baked potato, fries, garlic whipped potatoes, onion rings, hash browns with caramelized onions and sour cream, or the tremendous Potatoes Gruyere Gratin. At this location, you have entree choices of a burger, a chicken dish, a bbq pork shank, and the twin filets. I have no idea how long this will last, but what a great bargain for some great food. Use your savings for the alcohol, or splurge on one of their colossal desserts - enough to share! It doesn't get much better than this! Ask for the pretzel rolls!

I used to be a fan of Hyde Park, but the last two times I have been there were unacceptable for a restaurant in this price range. On the positive side, the drinks and side dishes were good. The main complaints I have concern the steaks themselves and the service (especially by management). During both my last two visits, the steaks were not done even close to medium (as a requested). They were much closer to well-done. In addition, the last time, it was not only well-done but COLD (how they pulled that off would be an interesting story). Both times, they did replace the steak with an acceptable piece of meat, but I really shouldn't have to put up with this in an establishment with Hyde Park's reputation. Additionally, during my last visit, I felt that the manager was dishing out more attitude than food. He grilled me (no pun intended) before finally agreeing to redo the steak. It's a shame I had these experiences. I really love good steak restaurants and there are so few in Columbus. I shan't be back to Hyde Park in the foreseeable future.

One of the best in town for steaks, great service as always. I've been there dozens of times for business and personal dinners, never had a bad experience. The manager always makes sure everything is taken care of and my guest are happy, I love the private rooms we always get.

This is THE Hyde Park in the city - as far as I am concerned - and perhaps THE steakhouse in all of Columbus, a statement considering the influx of steak places we have seen here. Old School Cool. A little pretentious? - ya i could see that. I suppose you could say that about any restaurant that has live music on the weekends by guys dressed in tuxedos, though. If you are looking for a young, vibrant crowd this is not going to be the first place you should think of. This is a great place if you are a fan of great service, the old school way. They will bring the cart of meat cuts out to your table and you can pick out the exact cut that you want to have grilled up to your specifications. Sometimes you need a place that you can wear the suit and feel all dressy and snazzy before you go to a formal function. Hyde Park on Old Henderson fills this role perfectly.

It's five star! Let's not waste each others time by elaborating on that.

This place was excellent in every way shape and form. The only reason it lost a star (I would have given it 4 1/2, actually) was because it has a lack of originality. It has steak , potatoes, the steamed broccoli, etc.. there is nothing really different about this place than any other really really good steak house. My meat was perfectly cooked, and melted just like it should. Service was good, and prompt.

What a place - wonderful service - thanks Patrick, great steaks, and decor - thanks for finally lowering the volume on the house music. Our clients had a wonderful time - world class wines, including Jordan, Silver Oak (our choice) and even a bottle called "Used Car Parts" - warm seafood appetizers, aged steaks, brilliant sauces and sides but a flat molten chocolate dessert that had been microwaved (removed from the $500.00 tab) Thanks HP - I will be back.

Straight up, I love this place. Had dinner here on NYE-my second time here-and it was as wonderful as I'd raved to my husband about (shit, gotta justify the bill somehow). First of all, the restaurant is very pretty inside and out. Both times I've come here it's been cold out, so I've never gotten to hang out on the patio. They've consistently made a mean dirty vodka martini-just the amount of dirty for this girl-and both times I've been here I've gotten the porterhouse. Because I like a lot of meat. Heh! Anyways, steak is always cooked just how I like it. For sides, I've had the creamed spinach and the lobster mac and cheese. OMG, lobster mac and cheese.....if we hadn't been in public, hubby and I probably would have fought over who got more of it. To start with for apps, our table got the cold seafood tower for 4-comes with crab legs, scrimps, oysters, and lobster. It's a tower of cold seafood heaven. I've never had dessert here, so can't mention that. And yeah, it's spendy, so it's special occasion. But it's delish! And service is good, so go!

My experience was at the location on 55 Hutchinson Ave, Columbus - (614) 438-1000 So I was sitting in the Sheraton Suites down the road from this place and pissed everyone ditched for me dinner ... so I said F it and had to go check out this place. I went to school with a bunch a rich kids from Beachwood Ohio and I recall them talking about how great this place was (referring to the Cleveland location) I dined at the bar , the bartender was pretty chill, there were only 3 people in the bar so the service rocked. I tasted 3 different wines and had a huge pour on the cab I landed on. Here is what I ordered: Vodka Martini ($11) 4 oysters ($9) Wedge Salad ($8) 22oz Bone in Ribeye ($36) Mac & Cheese ($8) OK so the food was perfecto ... The martinis were in big rock glasses and filled full. The oysters served a ridiculously huge bed of ice were great, very fresh and tasty. The salad was so plain but so good, a very cold crisp wedge of iceberg lettuce, topped with hand crafted blue cheese dressing, real bacon bits and an amazing tasting candy pecans. The steak, the big big steak ... this piece of meat was perfectly selected, and marbled with just the right amount of fat... the rib eye was ordered med rare and couldn't have been cooked any better, a perfect pink outter edge and a red center. It was ginormous , there was no way I could have conquered the whole plate. Avoid the mac and cheese ... thought it would be good gluttony with the steak however it tasted like the burning smell when you over cook toast. The steak is served with onion straws and by the time you order appetizer, salad , you don't need another side ... save the room for desert. My total bill was $87 before tip ... so expect prices similar to Ruth Chris , Mortons, etc. etc. Highly recommended, and great place to go when on the corp expense account.

This is easily the best (non uber-gourmond) restaurant in Columbus and among the best I've ever been to. High prices are staggeringly overcome with flawless atmosphere, service, food and drink. This is my #1 splurge restaurant...and #2 isn't even going to be thought of: Hyde Park on the Cap takes the cake. The beef is aged, perfectly trimmed and cooked to perfection. Sauces are perfectly matched and the sides (esp. the potato gratin) are rich and delicious. My non-cow eating guests report that the seafood offerings are similarly spectacular...but I'll never know: it's all about perfectly aged prime beef for me. Note: not all Hyde Parks are built alike. As great as Hyde Park on the Cap is, Hyde Park off Henderson is one of the worst high-end steakhouse experiences I've ever had. The food is still excellent (though the Cap's is still noticably better) but the service is slow, rude and ultr-pretentious. The Hyde Park in Dublin is terrific in every way except it lacks the incredible atmosphere of The Cap's and the vibrant short north "feel"

They had a bone-in dry-aged KC strip on the specials when I went. Delicious. For the solo business traveler, the bar area is a comfortable place to eat. Service was really good. The bartender, Jeff, knows how to make an angry tasting Tanqueray-10 Gibson. If there's a downside, no surprise that this place is a little pricey.

We went here for a X'mas eve dinner. I ordered their special for the night which was aged ribeye. I must say that the steak was charred (as in black) and almost a 4th of it is just fat. When I say fat, its just that. Gross. The steak did not even taste different from an ordinary rib-eye. It's a rip off! The waiter will not tell you the price for the specials so you NEED TO ASK. I paid $65 for this piece of crap and this will be the last time I'll be eating in this restaurant. This restaurant is over-rated. I can get great steak (Hickory House or Clairmont) for a fraction of their price. If you want ambiance, this is the place, if you want good steak, this is not the place to go.

I've only been to the one in the Cap on high street. What a beautiful restaurant. I come here with friends on special occasions - or if I'm really craving a good steak. The food here is definitely the main draw. The crab appetizer is absolutely to die for. The steaks (obviously) are near-perfect. I get mine Kosar style and I have never had anything less than a delicious cut. Ambience is fantastic. Service (from what I have seen) is good, very friendly. Can be a bit pretentious at times but that's just because people need to get over the fact that they are in Columbus, not NYC. Bit pricey but worth every penny.

Hyde Park is a great place to eat, but a better place for Happy Hour. Cheap martinis and a bar menu that includes mini mahi mahi tacos, stop here on your way home from work. I really enjoy happy hour when the bartender is Veldman. A sarcastic quiet guy, he makes your drinks and makes you laugh. He is also a great judge at when and when not to interrupt conversation. In the summer the Hyde Park patio can't be beat for people watching. Sitting on the corner of Convention Center and Short North you are bound to see some sort of show. If he is working the patio John C. is the best server you can have. Also funny and amazingly intuitive as to when your drinks are getting low or you need more calamari. Finally I appreciate the selection of "Old Man Drinks" that Hyde Park throws down on the table. An Old Fashioned followed by a Sidecar will fuel your evening and make you long for a monocle. The old school drinks remind all of us of the days before the Cosmo was king. Try out Hyde Park's happy hour. Ask for John on the patio or Veldman at the bar and enjoy.

How come there is no listing for the one on 55 Hutchinson Ave? You can find the info on their website, so Yelp needs to get this up to date. Surprised to see only two reviews for this place. I guess Yelp isn't too popular in Columbus. The Sunday night prime rib special rocks. For $25, you get a choice of salad, prime rib with one side and a desert. What a steal. I prefer to have my steak with a glass of wine which goes for around $10. Where can you get a great 3 course steak meal with wine for around $35? (before tax and tips, of course) Their prime rib tastes so delicious. I've had different kind of steaks here before, and they are all very good. But now I always get the prime rib. Too bad that this is only available on Sundays only. I'm not sure if the location on High St has the same course meal for $25.

*this is a review of the bar only* this is a gay bar. at least it was when i went to check it out. i got there a little before 6 for happy hour on friday. and 'dressy' doesn't apply. the place was full of people wearing baseball caps, most of 'em turned around. i don't know where the after-work business crowd is going, but it's not here. maybe the later crowd is different, but none of this was what i was interested in, so i had a drink and left
