I recently just dined here for dinner for my mother's birthday. First off, just wow! I've been to the other location in the short north for my father's birthday, but this new location is closer to me and decided to go here. I called and made a reservation the night before and they were very helpful, and offered to put a card saying happy birthday to my mom on our table before we got there which was fantastic! First, our waitress and hostess who sat us were very funny and very welcoming! Our waitress wasn't too pushy about the wine, or hurrying us along. My mom ordered the house Cabernet and it was the best wine I ever tasted; it was very smooth. Our waitress was also very helpful informing us that you could get any steak and style. My mom got the 7 oz. filet mignon griffin style, WHICH WAS AMAZING!!!! I just got the 7 oz. filet mignon which was also great, but the sauce griffin style was what made it so much better. The steak it self is perfect. Best steakhouse in Columbus by far. The manager also took the pleasure by giving us a sampling of an appetizer. It was a piece of a grilled asparagus with fresh shrimp and tomatoes, and the seasoning on it was great! I'm just starting to like shrimp, and I just wanted more! The wait staff, was very good checking up on us, and making sure we were enjoying our experience, and was not pushy at all. The manager also for a second time, took the pleasure to giving my mom a free piece of flourless chocolate cake with a raspberry coolie and a candle on top. They did not charge us for the sampling of appetizer or dessert either. When I went to the location at short north, they were not as giving as this location. It was amazing! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! We will definitely be back again!

Like it burnt? Then this is the place for you. I ordered the my strip it was perfectly cooked in the middle burnt beyond recognition on the outside. Manager was not very nice told me that's how they cook it here. I said I order a my strip because I enjoy the taste of the fat. The fatty portion of the steak was not edible at all. Would not recommend at all. Didn't eve attempt to make up the poor food by discounting even a drink.

Two words: grossly underwhelmed. I've been to the Hyde Park on the Cap twice before, and both times were great. Attentive service, delicious food, a little pricey but that's what you get for that level of a dining experience. My boyfriend and I tried the Hyde Park at Crosswoods for the first time last night. I ordered the Filet Woody (wrapped in bacon with melted blue cheese) and we split brussels sprouts and garlic whipped potatoes. My filet was okay. It was rather tough to cut (I ordered it medium). The blue cheese on top was a bit much (the quantity was out of control). I could only finish half of it. The sides were just okay as well. I found the brussels sprouts to be underseasoned and the potatoes were kind of lukewarm. I mean, hey, Hyde Park, I know it was a Wednesday, but that's no excuse not to bring your A game. #disappointed

My husband and I went here to celebrate our anniversary and my birthday. We're trying to hit all the high end steakhouses in town so we can settle on a favorite. We were impressed as they had cards on our table celebrating our anniversary and my birthday, very nice touches as well as rose petals. We both ordered the special surf and turf that included an appetizer, entree and dessert. We also ordered the lobster macaroni and cheese to make the dinner even more special. I got the filet and scallops and my filet was cooked to perfection. Scallops a little chewy. The steakhouse chopped salad was kind of boring actually and I wished I had gotten something else but the vinaigrette was tasty. However, we really enjoyed the lobster mac and cheese it was yummy. My husband ordered the surf and turf also. He selected the filet and shrimp. He also got the baby heirloom tomatoes and mozzarella and we both thought it was very good. His steak was wonderfully cooked and he also liked his shrimp. One of the highlights of our visit was the chef sent out a complimentary appetizer that isn't even on the menu to help celebrate our special occasions which made it even more special. I would give this place five stars but my scallops were a bit overdone. We enjoyed our visit and we will be back again.

I've been here twice for my husband's work holiday party and both times I've been really impressed with the food and staff. Firstly, it's a group of about sixty people, full bar service, full menu, so there's a lot going on for the staff. I was just amazed they always managed to find me withe my cocktail! Also, their house manhattan was really good and this year the moscow mules were very popular. Appetizers--the shrimp cocktail are enormous and pretty well cooked, the oysters were good, I LOVED the calamari and crabcakes. Seriously, the crabcakes are something to write home about. Salads--the wedge is pretty basic, but it's good, and my husband likes the Caesar salad. Main dishes--the steaks are always good and always how you order them. I don't know what I was thinking, I got medium last time and it was overcooked to my taste because I usually get rarer but they cooked it as ordered. Everyone else's food looked equally delicious. Sides--we all ordered sides and split them. I think lobster mac'n'cheese is sort of a desecration of multiple foods but it cannot be denied that it tastes good. Brussel sprouts, mushrooms, asparagus, all good. And finally, the wait staff is so helpful, professional, quick to correct anything, and generally just stellar. If you're looking for a classic American steakhouse with high-quality service and food, Hyde Park is the best. If you want something more avant-garde or more cutting edge menu, go somewhere else.

Had dinner here last night with work associates. I started with the heirloom tomato and mozzarella salad which was just OK. The tomatoes were mostly cherry tomatoes and the Mozzarella chopped in tiny pieces. Overpriced for what you get. I also ordered the fillet topped with lobster and mushrooms. My steak was perfectly cooked medium and tender. My associated ordered strip steaks and were pleased. Service was great with Jake waiting our table. This is the second time I've eaten at this location. Worth stopping in if you're in the neighborhood.

ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! My husband set up something special for me here a couple of weeks ago. The outside environment was really inviting. It was well lit, plenty of parking, well dressed doormen and bakers. Once we arrived inside, it was perfectly lit and we were greeted promptly and sat quickly. The space was very cozy, a private room/booth. The waitress was very nice about answering questions and giving recommendations. The food was well cooked, perfectly seasoned, and presented beautifully... I recommend this place for Special occasions. It was not expensive consisting what we'd ordered... I'll set reasonably priced for the quality of the restaurant.

This is the 3rd time my (now) husband and I have visited Hyde Park, the first at this location. The ambiance at this location is perfect - whether you're looking for an intimate date or a night out with friends. I always find myself ordering too much food when I dine at Hyde Park. The portions are large - from the salads to the sides - so plan accordingly. My salad and appetizer were superb. I had the appetizer scallops for dinner - delicious, but the blue cheese was a bit too strong. My husband ordered a steak with black pepper and butter topping, and also felt the flavor was too strong. We decided we should just keep to meals with simpler flavors. The staff was very friendly and personable - they made us feel like regulars and we will definitely be going back soon! They even served us a complimentary dessert, which was a delicious chocolate cheesecake.

This is the second Hyde Park I've been to. I have a review for the Short North location as well. I have to say that while my service experience at the Short North location was better, the food was better at the Worthington locale. Again, I have to recommend the lobster mac and cheese as a side. Here, it seemed a bit sweeter, with the pasta and lobster integrating better than that of the downtown location. We started with a couple crab cakes, served with a mustard sauce and a spicy aioli. So good, I want to go back just for a couple more of these. Of course, the pretzel bread is incredible, and though the service wasn't what it was downtown, it was still outstanding. Just very very slooooow. Like over 45 minutes from menus to ordering slow. I went with one of the specials for the evening: a dry-aged wagyu Kobe filet mignon. I ordered mine with peppercorns and shallot butter on top, medium rare. Hands down, it was the best steak I've ever had. Period. I polished it off in about 5 minutes. Once again, I highly recommend Hyde Park for their outstanding steak, sides, and appetizers. Nothing is bad here. Nothing.

Hubs is at this very moment still grousing about how he would've expected more from a place that cost a fraction as much..ie. If I'm paying this much more I better get more! And for him to grouse more than me, well then that speaks volumes about how lame the evening was. Nice old style type steak house (read businessmen and old boy clubish) that we went to because we wanted to explore based upon reviews and because our first choice just up the road had over an hour wait. Next time we will wait!!! The evening started out ok with the servers (team servers) coming out one at a time and introducing themselves and then we noticed the oddity. We have been to places that had multiple servers and they all seemed to be in sync with one another. This place? It was like an echo. One guy would come up and do his spiel and then the other guy would come up and do the same spiel. Guys, if you are a team shouldn't you communicate to each other? For example, guy #1 ask us for drink order and then a few moments later guy #2 comes by and asks the same thing. Was pretty much like this all night. Our salads were pretty good, not wow good just good. The bread basket was good - hurrah for pretzel bread. And that was the last of the really good part of our meal. Our steaks while not bad were just not worthy of their price tags. They were a bit dry and severely lacking in flavor and hubs noted that his came out cooler than he expected. The crab cakes I had were more cake than crab, way more cake. The sides of mushrooms ($7.50) were just mediocre and that Gruyere au gratin potato was just sad! With au gratin potatoes I expect cheesy goodness (especially for $8) but did I get it, no! I tasted the potato but barely any of the cheese and it was so oily looking. The cheese was not sticking to the potatoes; it was as if each went to their separate corners to await mediation. Let me reiterate...the price of the meal is not even an issue. What we got for what we paid is! Hell! Even if dinner had cost way less I would still not be happy. Maybe the other HP on High might be different, who knows, but this one will never see me again.

I was in town for work and desperately in need of a good steak and a stiff drink (or two) to take the edge off the fact I was stuck in Columbus for a whole week. I definitely found that here at Hyde Park. Let me start by saying there were four steakhouses within walking distance of my hotel, one of them being Ruth's Chris, so needless to say, I had options. Typically, I'm not a fan of chain-steakhouses because there is so much more that goes into a quality steak than the name on the door. I believe each establishment needs to prove itself individually and one's opinion shouldn't be clouded by their experience at another location. That being said, Hyde Park has a few different locations around Columbus but I decided to check them out anyway. I am very glad that I did. The interior decor is nicely appointed, lowly lit and very comfortable. Exactly what one would hope for from a high end steakhouse. The staff was well dressed, friendly and very professional. The bartender was well versed in topics ranging from sports and fine scotch to the debt-ceiling and politics. Not to mention his ability to make what I might consider a perfect three-olive dirty martini. Maybe Columbus wasn't going to be so bad after all. I opted for the 22oz prime bone-in ribeye on the bartender's recommendation and I couldn't have been happier. It was amazing. Well seasoned, cooked to perfection (they really know what medium-rare means) and all around delicious. Topped off with melted garlic butter and rounded out with a side of seasoned mashed potatoes and sautéed mushrooms, I really can't think of a single thing that could have made this better. The price of the steak alone was around $40 and the sides were either $7 or $9 each which I thought was a great price for such a good meal. I've had steaks that cost almost twice as much and I can't think of a single thing that would distinguish the two from each other. Not only that, but considering I paid $20 for a prime sirloin that was about 1/3 of the size at Harry Caray's in the Chicago airport, this was a bargain. My rating is really 4 1/2 stars. The only reason it didn't get a perfect 5 was because my colleague didn't care for his NY strip that he got. He said it was overcooked and greasy. I'm assuming the greasiness was from the garlic butter, but I'm not sure. He did try a piece of my steak (I'm not too proud to admit I can share) and agreed that mine was superb. He even debated sending his back and getting the same as mine but we were there late and didn't want to upset the kitchen staff. If I ever have to go back to Columbus again, you can guarantee I will find my way back to Hyde Park.

I was pleasantly surprised to find vegetarian ravioli at a steak house. The ambience of place is really good, our server was really nice and funny. Food was delicious, especially the Brussels sprouts, broccoli sides and pretzel bread. I didn't care much about desserts, but other people on the table seemed to like creme brulee and key lime pie a lot ! Great experience, a little expensive but worth it!

In central Ohio for a football game (not business) so I thought we would do an informal review. The evening we went, the place was dead. I would not expect this, so make a reservation. Decided to hit the top 5 restaurants in Columbus, as recommended by a local hotel staff. Boy that was a mistake, they really need some training and free business dinners so they might have a small clue. Got lucky stopping at a wine shop/restaurant (the wine bistro). They were very helpful and completed our own list we had compiled from several sources. As we have said before, you must understand who the reviewer is to make the review worth anything. So briefly, I grew up in Central Ohio. Moved to Southern California 25 years ago. We have been fortunate enough to have the money and time to travel extensively. Primarily focusing on high-end food and drink. First stop, Hyde Park. A nice Steak House that is truly best described as an upscale chain restaurant. Think Ruth's Chris or a bit more upscale than Flemmings. The setting was "fine steak house clubby". A few fireplaces were scattered throughout the establishment, a nice touch. A combination of tables and a few velvety booths. I really dislike the pencil drawn caricatures on the walls but that is just me. I ordered my usual pre-dinner Negroni. This confused the waitress. She didn't know what it was or if they could make one. I told them the recipe. This was common even in LA 10 years ago but most large cities in the US now consider this a "go to" classic cocktail. We also ordered wine. They offered a Treffethen Halo at just barely over retail ($195), we had to have it. Next came oysters on the half shell. Obviously they have very little experience shucking. There was almost no liquor left and most had a bit of grit or broken shell. Served with just cocktail sauce and wrapped lemons. I would prefer a house made mignonette at a place that aspires to this level. However, they were price under $2.50 each. The bread was on the table by this time. Pretzel bread is the bomb. My tastes haven't become completely skewed. We opted for the 3 course surf and turf prix fixx. The price was that enticing ($55 each). We chose 2 different salads. A wedge, please stick to a classic and leave the candied walnuts off. The other a steakhouse chopped. A bit lacking in flavor and grated cheddar cheese, "Please". I had the Ribeye accompanied by crab cakes and she had a filet mignon with scallops (definitely not jumbo). We also sampled the shrimp scampi. More about this latter. All were cooked appropriately. Accompanied by typical steak house sauces. That is to say, uninspired and not that tasty. I would be happier if they just left these off or at least asked you to select your choice of sauce. The presentation and flavor of a side of lobster Mac and Cheese was very good. Nice sized chunks of lobster and a crispy topping. A bit pricey at $16.90 but worth it. For dessert she had molten chocolate cake, no pre-order required. The molten part was primarily poured over the top. Nevertheless it was tasty but not exceptional. I had the Key Lime pie. This was exceptional. The Creme Brûlée looked good too although we didn't taste this one. Remember that shrimp? Our otherwise very nice waitress actually got my order wrong twice, though there was only one other couple in the place this night. Perhaps waiting tables was not her usual job or just off her game. She immediately recognized the mistake before I actually spelled it out to her. she told me to keep the food she delivered and returned with what I had ordered. This is where the management really shined. They had empowered our waitress to correct this mistake without taking the food away and she did it without hesitation. I was able to finish my dinner with my favorite 18 year old Scotch, so everything was bliss. To recap; middle of the upscale road pricing, cooked as ordered steaks, an adequate wine list, and a management team focused on the customer. Perhaps not up to world class standards, but a fine central Ohio steak house. Next on to M at Miranova. The Traveling Foodies

Wow! What can i say.. this place was awesome! Can't figure out the sucky reviews from the others about this place. The service, food, accommodations were awesome. I took my fiance here to show my appreciation for her helping me out with my bootcamp business. It was not very busy when we got there which was surprising for a Friday night. But it soon started to fill up. . The host brought us a sample of one the appetizer on the house-- very nice, and very good. I ordered the 16 oz ribeye and my fiancé the 7 oz petite. Unbelievably good. One of the best steaks I've ever had. The waiter was very nice and attentive. And then the next day, they called me to make sure everything went ok-- above and beyond. I highly recommend this place.

I had completely forgotten that this place existed. I was browsing through the listing on Yelp when I ran into it. Then I remembered that it used to be 55 Restaurants flagship but I had never eaten there (as Hyde Park). So I went over for dinner tonight, for their $19.90 special. For that I got a bowl of onion soup, two small filet mignons, and a very large baked potato. The food was great and the service was great also, thanks to the two waiters assigned to my table, Gene and Christina. For dessert, I had a piece of key lime pie. That was super and filling! LOL

I ordered the 50 day dry aged Ny strip as recommended by server. It was burned and tasted like something you get from outback (sorry outback!). I also got a lobster Mac n cheese that server claimed had a whole 5oz lobster tail. I found one tiny piece and it was just ok. The waiter took it off the bill though. Overall 2/10. I wish I went across the street to fish market or Ruths Chris :(

  • Kelly S.

The steak, which is what this place should be all about, was mediocre. Texture was good, but the exterior was burned, and served on a cool plate, which made for a cool steak after a few minutes. The $39 surf and turf looked like the best value, and it would have been, but the tomatoes were awful, wrong kind of onions, and sub-par smoked mozzarella. Pleasant bartender, reasonable decor for a steakhouse. I don't know what this town has to offer - maybe this is as good as columbus gets. It pisses me off when I get charged $2.50 for club soda, but that seems increasingly to be the norm.

Best steak I ever had. This is comparable to "upscale" steak houses like Ruth's Chris, Morton's; Chop House, etc. But probably better. Aged steaks. I recommend the 18 oz. steak smothered in peppercorn sauce. Salads are also delicious. I didnt have room for dessert.

I had the special 36 day dry aged 26oz ribeye which cost $59. I requested medium rare. Half of the steak was medium rare, the other half was over cooked. The way they cook it leaves a carbony burnt taste to the steak. It's not very good...unless you like the taste of ash. Also had ordered the roasted brussel sprouts. They neither looked nor tasted like they had been roasted. So they were sent back. The food was average at best and certainly not worth the price...unless you like ashes.

I was there as tech support for my fiancées business meeting. I am a vegetarian but one can always find something. I sat at the bar and ordered a $10 glass of wine which would cost me about 12 in the grocery store. yes I said grocery, the wine list was not that great. The bartender seemed to be a nice person but was not insightful in the wine selection, and I pondered it for some time which is perfect for questioning. I am a frequent wine consumer so I know enough to be dangerous. I ordered the potatoes gratin. I chocked down half of it but could not finish it. i even commented to the bartender upon tasting it how salty it was and no offer to remake it was given. it was still on my bill at the end. Bottom line: perhaps the steak is great, although the guy across from me did not seem to be overly delighted with his meal, but for the prices and service go to the many other choices in town.

Good service, a little pricey. Likely the best place to get steak in Columbus.
